Sleepy wishlist for miss Gumi

Cat and mouse (romantic tension). Gumi is pursuing your muse for some crime or another and she’s never quite able to cross the threshold into that final catch and their relationship is endlessly complicated. Maybe it’s too politically complicated, maybe they just keep narrowly missing each other, but they are constantly in that dance. OR 👆 we can just make it NOT romantic and they’re just straight up enemies.

I want a Watson for Gumi so bad. I want someone to help out at Downdraft that she drags along to cases and puts through the wringer through her shenanigans. Whether this person be a part-timer in over their head or a fellow Janitor or Onmyoji who got sucked into things against their conscious will. They can either be exasperated or enthusiastic or none of the above I just think it would be so fun.

Matchmaking because Gumi is a woman in her 30s and I find the idea of her parents forcing matchmaking so funny just because they want to marry her off and don’t want to have any responsibility for her whatsoever.

Underground figure Gumi does NOT want to cooperate with on a case but something happens where either a criminal or some other unsavory character needs Gumi and Gumi needs them so they’re in an uneasy truce for the time being until they can get the situation sorted.

Gumi needing to play bodyguard for another muse during a special operation of sorts. Maybe they’re a target of a criminal that she’s after so she offers her services to them so she can keep them alive while also being able to finally apprehend them.

plot i strongly desire:

the winter soldier, battered, cut off from it's communications, perhaps before the arm was reforged in adamantium-vibranium so can be pierced--malfunctioning internals--stranded with no means of making contact with it's handlers, put in a situation where it has to accept medical help, and your muse is the one who finds it, whether its because the soldier staggers its way into a city/village/some kind of civilization or because your muse happens to be out in this middle-of-nowhere place, too. and when it's not on the job, its like a snapping dog, angry and fearful with it's pain, growling. whether through empathetic sedation--the soldier has no choice but to trust their aid--or through the forceful sort, your char ends up tending to them, and now they've this monster-machine-man-thing in their care and they don't know if it's going to turn on them, what it's name is, where it's from, nothing. and it's not the talking sort, or it's being difficult.

it can be hard to figure out dynamic & plots, so here’s a list of some fun “wishlist” ideas i could see for peter ! let me know if you’re interested in any concepts, or are inspired by one of them !

FAMILIAL

1 ) your muse, in the throes of teenage heroism (or vandalism, who knows) finds a mentor / accidental father figure in the form of spider-man. peter is a supportive figure to young heroes who can’t find solid help from others, as he knows what it’s like to go it in alone with everyone against you . . . while you’re still a child.

2 ) ( for SPIDER muses ) the web connects them all. your muse and peter, via the mystical, deadly thread that ties them to the multiverse, form that good ol’ found family bond.

3 ) a shared near-death experience always does wonders for found family relationships. our muses almost die & then can’t seem to get rid of each other afterwards. peak siblingism.

PLATONIC

1 ) your muse volunteers at FEAST, comes in for aid at FEAST, or is already camping out there. enter peter parker, nephew of FEAST’s leader, may parker. professional worrywart & nosy menace.

2 ) your muse & spider-man connect over some niche interest. now he goes out of his way to talk to them, with varying results.

3 ) peter & your muse are stuck in an alternate dimension & the only way out is through the power of friendship. whatever that means. too bad the two barely know each other. potential for hidden identities or estranged friends forced to get past old differences.

4 ) your muse (hero/villain/someone with an alternate identity) meets peter parker in the middle of a crisis. peter needs to pretend he’s a normal civilian, but he’s unable to stop sticking his nose into serious business. your muse probably wants to know what his problem is.

ROMANTIC

1 ) our muses are caught in a situation (different planet, alternate dimension, undercover) where they need to pretend to be lovers. forced proximity & fake dating just hits different.

2 ) peter parker needs to write an article about your muse. he’s not stalking you. he swears. but also, can you turn to the side a little ? he needs a good angle for the photo.

3 ) our muses are trapped in a tight space after an explosion / building collapse. can’t make a wrong move, or maybe it’s a precarious situation that they can’t immediately get out of. bonus points if one of them is injured.

4 ) hero-adjacent. an off-world or international mission is in need of a group of heroes. unfortunately, it’s a last minute call-to-arms, & there aren’t enough seats on the (insert travel vehicle) which means someone has to use a lap as a seat… let’s get cozy.

ANTAGONISTIC

1 ) a classic meet-cute. one of our muses bumps into the other & spills something All Over Them. sparks fly… the kind that lead to a blowout argument. hilarious if they both nearly get arrested for it.

2 ) working on teams isn’t peter’s strong suit. on a bad day, with the wrong circumstances, & your muse — maybe they can’t stand each other or keep making opposite decisions for certain tasks, but it is NOT going well.

below the cut are some plot ideas that i'd like to explore for these thieving magicians —

general / for any muse:

your muse asking the horsemen for help after being fucked over by a greedy / wealthy / evil corporation or person. the horseman don't usually take personal requests, but if your muse made a good case ( aka pulled on their heart strings ), how could they say no? especially if said evil person has hurt a lot of people.

your muse accidentally being seen with one / multiple of the horsemen, thus being taken in by the fbi to be questioned about where they're hiding. your muse can either actually have been there by accident, or they can actually be an acquaintance of the horsemen and are helping to keep their whereabouts hidden.

alternatively, your muse is fully helping the horsemen lie low, now that they're fugitives. this could mean giving them a safe house, helping them plan their next mission, etc.

going even further with that, your muse is someone who was significant in one of the horsemen's lives ( friend, family, ex, etc. ), and after they became fugitives, your muse went out trying to find them, only to get into the path of danger / trouble, now that the horsemen are wanted criminals.

your muse being caught in the crossfire of one of their acts, getting hurt, and the horsemen taking your muse back with them to patch them up, ( which could lead to the fbi thinking they took your muse hostage, if your muse's absence is greatly noticed ).

your muse is either a new magician looking to join or a rival magician that was recruited because of their skill. there's some animosity about a new horsemen, but they all have to work together to accomplish their main goal.

your muse is significant to the horsemen in some way ( friend, family, ex, etc. ), and since they've been somehow seen or connected to the horsemen, a wealthy / greedy / evil corp or person kidnaps them, trying to leverage your muse, forcing the horsemen to steal something for them.

muse specific:

your muse and dylan being partners or working together while he's in the fbi, and your muse being the first to find out that he's actually been a part of the horsemen the whole time. your muse has to choose between turning him in or hiding his secret, which could also get them in trouble if anyone else found out.

your muse is someone daniel once dated or slept with ( bc he's a playboy and cocky as hell ). your muse stumbles across him again after he becomes a fugitive, and has the opportunity to turn him in, if your muse feels like they got played, or not if they still have feelings for him.

your muse is an old friend of jack's, maybe someone he went to school with. your muse keeps trying to tell jack to get off the streets and stop stealing, to no prevail. cut to now, and jack visits your muse to prove that he's doing something better with his life, only for your muse to realize he's now the fbi's most wanted, which is the opposite of what your muse had wanted for him.

your muse and lula were in college together, for the few months that she decided to stay there. your muse and lula hit it off and decided to keep in contact, emailing / texting / etc. back and forth every single day. when lula stops replying, your muse tries to track them down, only to realize that they're now a wanted criminal, and being seen still communicating with them could get your muse into big trouble. lula, of course, would still like to stay in touch, despite the consequences.

just like quinton, your muse also lost a family member due to the negligence and greed of tressler insurance. quin and your muse meet at some sort of grief and loss support group and hit it off. he and your muse become close, and so your muse is concerned when quinton goes missing. tracking him down, quinton tries to get your muse to leave, knowing they'll be in deep shit if they're seen anywhere near the horsemen, but your muse refuses to leave quinton's side as he becomes a bigger and bigger fugitive.
