I want to be close to you
Chapter 3 - Casey and Alex finally get to work together on a case, but Alex is hurt in the process.
The squad’s latest case involved a murderer who was strangling women in their mid 20’s, blonde hair, blue eyes, and with jobs in higher positions; the first three victims were found in an abandoned warehouse, however the latest victim was found in an alley near 75th and luxe; once Warner called them saying she had dna, that’s when everything burst into flames.
Alex had nearly forgotten how to breathe normally once her and Casey had to work so closely on this case considering how fast the D.A wanted to close it. From dawn to the latest hours in the night, Casey and Alex were knee deep in files about potential suspects; repeatedly rushing from the office to the precinct. The uncountable cups of coffee living around their office was embarrassing, the way they worked so in sync like they’d known each other for years. Certain times Alex would fall asleep, fatigue was a result of the shooting from a few months back, she hated it but if she didn’t sleep then that would worsen her health. Whenever this would happen. Casey would drape a blanket she kept in her closet over Alex for however long she slept, she would also unconsciously kiss her forehead with a goodnight. Sleep deprivation or not Casey was definitely drawn to her
it wasn’t until the next few days that the case started to finally make sense, cragen told the two Ada’s that their suspect ‘Mitchell Arrington’ was prone to violent tendencies, he’d been questioned for numerous crimes involving young women.
Alex decided she would talk with him after cragen pointed out that she was his exact type, Casey tried her best not to show her disapproval of the idea but Alex was a big girl; she can hold her own ground.
As Casey watched the interview through the window she could feel her heart start to race; she was so worried for Alex, it wasn’t like she was helpless but Casey felt this need to protect her, they didn’t talk much but were told that they worked efficiently together. Alex looked incredibly sophisticated as she confidently explained to the perp and his legal aid that he’d be facing the death penalty if he didn’t comply; but what happened next made Casey freeze. As Alex was explaining how she knew that these women were killed because Mitchell was an insecure man child; it was like a flip was switched on in his head and his eyes turned red.
He lunged from his seat and gripped his hands around Alex’s neck. Casey froze up, she didn’t think this was reality,
the next thing she knew was seeing Alex in Cragen’s office getting checked out by Huang; she could see the bruises slowly forming around her neck, Cabot claimed she felt fine but Casey knew better than that, Huang led the rest of the squad out of the office and explained that Cabot would be tired for the next few hours and she should take it easy. By the time Casey was more calmed down, she went to check on Alex; she looked like an angel as she slept, Casey couldn’t help but feel responsible, she could’ve been in their with her, they’re a team for gods sake.
The only thing she could do was sit down on the chair next to Alex and go over some files; it was late and she felt herself slowly draping down closer to Alex’s lap, soon they were both sound asleep with Alex being Casey’s cushion.
Alex woke up a few hours later wondering where the hell she was, the last thing she could remember was questioning Arrington about plea deals. She slowly remembered the horrific image of him with his hands wrapped around her neck and started to tear up, as she got up she noticed red hair, oh god-
Casey Novak was wrapped around Alex’s waist, her bangs perfectly laid to the side, the slight whistle of her breathing, and how she could see her toned stomach due to her shirt slightly being pulled up; Alex wiped her eyes and decided to lie there until Casey would wake up and realize their predicament.

ᯓ★ i’ve been writing and revising a literary horror book called the lambs, screaming for a couple years now. there’s a lot of religious imagery, body horror, vague supernatural/eldritch fuckery, and a complex homoerotic friendship between two despicable, grieving girls casey and bethan.
ᯓ★ i have been intermittently writing and planning out two full-length novels based on unpublished short stories of mine. the first is a modular novel following multiple people’s lives as they are impacted by an alien invasion except the aliens aren’t here to invade, they’re here to learn. the second is another literary speculative fiction following two main characters: a young neanderthal woman that has been jurassic park’d by a lab in northern california (this is a real thing scientists are trying to do btw), and one of the female anthropologists that contributed to this experiment. i refer to this project as unironically planet of the apes for phoebe bridgers enjoyers.
ᯓ★ i am a history and anthropology student with a minor in creative writing, and i am almost always at the mercy of a research paper deadline or two. my interests are medical history in ciudad de mexico, indigenous andean gender systems, historical epidemiology, and paleopathology (my one true love). i firmly believe in decolonizing anthropology and making academic anthropological writing more accessible.
ᯓ★ besides writing, i love horror, david cronenberg movies, joni mitchell, the x files, the locked tomb, baldur’s gate 3, any media with substantial body horror, playing video games, and reading when i get the chance. my favorite movies include: the fly, longlegs, humanist vampire seeking consenso ring suicidal person, sucker punch, little miss sunshine, dinner in america, and a girl walks home alone at night. my favorite book of all time is patrícia melo’s the simple art of killing a woman. i am also a massive fan of julia armfield, carmen maria machado, and steven graham jones.
ᯓ★ i am a published writer with multiple poems and some short stories floating around the online space, look out for any link postings of recently published work. i am also a staff writer for a very cool zine, and am an experienced and established writer.

Point Place, Wisconsin. Locations: The Hub.
Once upon a time, it was called Russo's. A coveted pizzeria for the GI generation. By the '60s, it was sold to Frank Mitchell, a vet who didn't lose a leg in Vietnam.
And hence, The Hub was born.
It was a safe haven for baby boomers, even as those coveted factory jobs went by the wayside, and money got tight. The Hub was there. With good food, good tunes, and a good game of pinball or two.
By the time the last of the baby boomers filed out, circa '82, The Hub had seen better days. The pinball machine had long since been discarded, replaced by a sea of arcade machines. Space Invaders, Pacman, Donkey Kong. You name the game, it was probably there.
However, its emerging arcade status did little to cushion its inevitable fall. Yeah, the food and tunes were still good, but the environment? It was a downer. Downtown was hollowing out, for the mall on the top of the hill. And crime was filing in, along with a few crackheads. And Casey Kelso, who brought crime and contraband from Chicago to the burbs, was making a pretty penny from the questionable venture.
So the Gen Xers? They went to the mall to hang out instead, and by the tail-end of '83? The Hub had finally closed its doors. With not a bang, but a desperate whimper.

SEC Obtains Relief - Crypto Fraud Scheme - Digital Licensing
SEC Obtains Emergency Relief to Halt Utah-Based Company’s Crypto Asset Fraud Scheme Involving 18 Defendants - Digital Licensing Inc. Washington, DC (STL.News) The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) today announced that it obtained a temporary asset freeze, restraining order, and other emergency relief against Digital Licensing Inc., a Draper, Utah-based entity doing business as “DEBT Box,” as well as the company’s four principals, Jason Anderson, his brother Jacob Anderson, Schad Brannon, and Roydon Nelson, and 13 other defendants in connection with a fraudulent scheme to sell crypto asset securities to hundreds of U.S. investors that raised approximately $50 million and unspecified amounts of Bitcoin and Ether. The SEC’s complaint, unsealed yesterday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Utah, charges the defendants in an ongoing scheme that began in March 2021 to sell unregistered securities they call “node licenses.” In hundreds of online videos and social media posts, as well as at investor events, the defendants told investors that the node licenses would generate various crypto asset tokens through crypto mining activity and that revenue-generating businesses in a variety of sectors would drive the value of the various tokens DEBT Box mined, resulting in exorbitant gains for investors. In reality, as alleged, the node licenses were a sham intended to obscure the fact that the total supply of each token was created by DEBT Box instantaneously using code on a blockchain. “We allege that DEBT Box and its principals lied to investors about virtually every material aspect of their unregistered offering of securities, including by falsely stating that they were engaged in crypto asset mining,” said Tracy S. Combs, Director of the SEC’s Salt Lake Regional Office. “We filed this emergency action to protect the victims of the defendant’s unlawful actions and stop further harm.” The SEC’s complaint further alleges that DEBT Box and its principals —along with defendants James Franklin, Western Oil Exploration Company Inc., and Ryan Bowen—lied to DEBT Box investors about the revenues of the businesses purportedly driving the value of the tokens. In total, 18 defendants, including those mentioned above, have been charged with engaging in unregistered securities offerings. DEBT Box, Jason Anderson, Jacob Anderson, Brannon, Nelson, Franklin, Western Oil, and Bowen were also charged with violations of the antifraud provisions of the federal securities laws. Jason Anderson, Jacob Anderson, Brannon, Nelson, Bowen, Mark Schuler, Benjamin Daniels, Joseph Martinez, Travis Flaherty, Brendon Stangis, Matthew Fritzsche, B & B Investment Group, LLC, and iX Global, LLC were charged with acting as unregistered brokers. The complaint seeks permanent injunctive relief, the return of alleged ill-gotten gains, and civil penalties. The Honorable Judge Robert J. Shelby, U.S. District Judge for the District of Utah, entered an order on July 28, 2023, imposing a temporary restraining order, asset freeze, and other relief. Judge Shelby also entered an order appointing Josias N. Dewey of the law firm Holland & Knight LLP as a temporary receiver over DEBT Box to, amongst other things, marshal assets for the benefit of investors. Investors who believe they were affected by the DEBT Box offering may visit the receiver’s website at www.debtboxreceiver.com or call (305) 349-2134. The SEC’s continuing investigation is being conducted by Joseph Watkins, Laurie Abbott, and Mitchell Davidson of the Salt Lake Regional Office, and Karaz Zaki of SEC Headquarters. The litigation will be led by Casey Fronk and Michael Welsh. The matter is being supervised by Ms. Combs. Investors can learn more about the risks of investing in crypto asset securities and unregistered offerings by reading SEC investor education bulletins such as Exercise Caution with Crypto Asset Securities and 10 Red Flags That An Unregistered Offering May Be A Scam. Going back to the Roman Polanski petition and the Epstein files, just the ones I’ve seen so far, it’s so incredibly disheartening seeing how many entertainers and people I generally held in positive regard are on these lists. There is, of course, the chance they didn’t know anything and were just shuttled around as being famous rich people, but...man. They’re on the same list as people we know are cretins, so there’s no way of actually knowing who is and isn’t good. It’s like trying to tell which porn is and isn’t consensual, you just can’t.
anyway here’s a list so far of all the elites named in the epstein files, or who supported roman polanski’s relase after he was arrested for raping a teenage girl:

Chuck vs. The Alma Mater Part 4
As Sarah and Casey continued shooting the other men, you and Chuck looked over at the computer noticing the disk was still in and Chuck quickly took out the disc putting it back in its case. "I have an idea. Get us out of here!" Chuck shouted. Chuck, Y/N, when I say go, run out the side door. Protect the disc. We'll cover you two. Go!" Chuck grabbed your hand as you both got up and ran out of the room, leaving Casey and Sarah to fight them off.
You and Chuck now found yourselves in a computer room. Chuck quickly sat down on on the computer chair and popped the disk in as you stood close to him, looking around the room, hoping no one finds you both. "Chuck what are we doing? We can't leave Sarah and Casey in there with all those men. They're gonna get killed." "I know Y/N. That's why I'm doing this." He clicked on one student and her number came up and he quickly dialed it. "Is this Glenda Mitchell?" he asked, starting to talk on the phone." We're in the science building. It's an emergency. Bring lots of big guns." Then there was a pause and you can see Chuck was trying to remember something. "Crap, there's a code phrase.... Are you coming to the toga party?!" he then hung up. You smiled at him. "Chuck you're a genius!" You both then began to work together, calling all the students in the file asking them if they would love to come to the toga party. Chuck's phone all of a sudden rang and he quickly answered. "Agent Katz?" All of a sudden you can see Chuck's face become annoyed and you had a feeling you knew why. "Morgan, this is really, really not a good time." Chuck said annoyed. "I knew it." you said rolling your eyes, laughing a little. He always had the worst timing. "Okay buddy I get that, but I'm at Stanford with Y/N. What do you want me to do?" he asked as he looked over at you. Whatever Morgan asked Chuck next angered him as he had to pull away from the phone and take a moment before continuing. You were trying not to laugh. Being best friends with both Chuck and Morgan was always entertaining. "Okay, okay. The code is O-U-8- 1-2-pound." and then he hung up and looked over at you. He can see you smirking. "Don't start Y/NN." "You good?" "I will be. Now..." he then bent down and took the disk out of the computer. You can see Chuck then become tense when he sat back up. "Chuck what is it?" What you didn't know was the man with the crossbow was behind both of you. "Oh no." Chuck said. He then jumped to the side, bringing you down with him as he tried to shield you from the man as he shot his crossbow, hitting the computer.
The man was walking around trying to find you both as you both crawled across the floor trying to hide. It didn't last long though when you appeared from behind a desk, Chuck behind you, the man was right there with the crossbow pointed right at your head. "Oh my God." you said scared. Chuck began to freak out seeing this. No. Please don't, please don't, please don't. Don't." Chuck pleaded with the man as he bent down to grab the disk from you. Out of nowhere, a woman came in high kicking the guy, knocking him out as well as the disk out of his hand. "You must be Chuck Bartowski. I just got your message. Are you okay?" "I'm just glad you check your voice mail." Chuck said sounding relieved. "Yeah me too." you said letting out a sigh. Chuck crawled over grabbing the disk and then quickly pulled you into a hug, relieved nothing bad happened to you.
After all that, you were all finally back home. Well at Chuck and Ellie's place since they decided to invite you over. "I can't believe that game was such a wash." Ellie said as you all entered the house. " What a blowout." " Worst game ever." Chuck said. Devon was trying to wash the paint off of his face but was not having any luck. " It's not coming off. I think I used the wrong kind of paint." he said coming up to Ellie. " Well, what brand was it?" " Brand? I don't know. One of the guys picked it up." "Try some stronger soap." You and Chuck both walked into the kitchen and he passed you a beer as he took one for himself as well. "So how painful was it? Not the game, I mean." Ellie said coming up to you both. " Well, uh, do you remember the evening with Morgan at the karaoke club? His cover of Peter Cetera's "Glory of Love" he dedicated to you?" Chuck asked. " That completely ruined Karate Kid II. " Ellie said still sounding angry about it. "Seriously, though, thanks for pushing me." "Yeah me too." "After the initial shock and horror, it was a relief to finally go back. Say goodbye." "Yeah and seeing stuff from my school. Even some people I knew. It was scary but...it was good for me." "I'm proud of you. You know? Both of you. You faced your past, head-on. Did you find what you were looking for?" " Almost." he said, but feeling bad for you because you'll probably never know. " You'll get there." Ellie said smiling at you both as she walked away.
You and Chuck were now in his room, chilling once again on his bed. Chuck had one question on his mind and he turned his head to look at you. "Y/N. I realized you never fully told me why you hate UCLA so much. Everytime I ask you always try to change to subject." "I know..." you said with a sad sigh. "I mean it's been quite a few years since and I mean...we are best friends. I thought we told each other everything?" "We do. It's just...I've had a hard time talking about it." "Okay. Well I won't force you to talk but...you know I'm always here." "I know..." you then took deep breath. "Okay." You then sat up and turned to him and Chuck did the same. He can tell you looked really nervous. "One night, my house was having this party. It was huge. Anyways, me and some of my so called friends got a little crazy with the drinking and...I got so drunk. And my ex, Steve, thought he could take advantage of me." You could see Chuck was getting angry at the thought of someone doing this to you. "He decided to do it in front of everyone to see and none of my friends helped and...and people were filming it and the next thing I know it's all over the school." you were now crying and Chuck quickly pulled you into his arms as you cried and shaked. "Oh my God Y/N. Hey...Shhh...Y/NN. I am so so sorry." he said softly as you still cried. "I am sorry I didn't tell you sooner. Hell even called you at school when this all happened. I was just so ashamed." "Hey. Look at me." You pulled away and saw there were tears in his eyes too. "It was his fault. Okay? Not yours .Plus you didn't let that bastard stop you did you? You still graduated at the top of your class. And you should be damn proud about that. I still really want to beat the crap out of him though." You smiled at him. "Thanks Chuck." "Thank you for having the courage to tell me." You hugged him tightly one more time.
“Please tell me he got taken care of. You know by the police and all.”
“Oh he did.”
“Thank God.”
You smiled at him once more.”
"Want to check out your file?"
You both got up and walked over to Chuck's computer. As he sat down he brought you down with him to sit on his lap and held you close as he popped the disk in. "You didn't think we'd let you keep that, did you?" Sarah said appearing at Chuck's door. " I need to know, Sarah." "Okay, Chuck." she said walking up to the both of you. "Test subject 0326. Bartowski. This will be his first interview. Send Chuck in. " Fleming said appearing on the screen. "Bryce? This isn't a good time. I'm waiting for another student." You and Chuck looked at each other shocked then over at Sarah who looked just as shocked. "Chuck Bartowski? He never got your message." "What are you talking about?" " You put Chuck on the CIA recruitment track? " "It's not up to me, Bryce. They want him for the Omaha Project." "That's a military operation. They'll turn Chuck into- " "I'm required to send all the top test results to the Agency." " I want my friend out of this." "He's a perfect candidate. Keywords in his essay responses correlate to 98 percent... of the images in the exam." "You don't get it. Chuck's a good person. He's got too much heart for this kind of work. He's no operative. You can't put him out in the field. He won't survive. " Chuck looked a little saddened watching this and you noticed and leaned your head on his. "The Agency is not gonna let go of a recruit this promising. The amount of information he can retain... ? They're not gonna give him a choice? He's in no matter what." "If he cheated on the exam, copied all the answers... it would invalidate the results, wouldn't it? " "Yes. " "Good. Now you're going to help me, professor." And the video was over.
"I'm sorry Chuck." you said softly. "Bryce framed me for cheating to save me. Why didn't he just tell me that?" he said, sadness in his voice. "He couldn't. They had already recruited him." Sarah said, trying not to cry. " If he had a reason for getting me kicked out... maybe he had a good reason to break into the Intersect too." " And maybe he had a good reason for sending it to you." " I just wish I could talk to him. It must have tore him up to not be able to tell me." "No one can know about this. " Sarah said walking over and taking the desk. "For your own safety, okay?" " Sure. No one would believe me anyway." You looked over at Sarah and gave her a little smile as she smiled back at you and closed the door, starting to let the tears come down over Bryce.
FLASHBACK You pulled into the Stanford parking lot and saw Chuck sitting there with his stuff, sadness and anger all over his face. You got out of your car and walked up to him. "Chuck?" He looked up and tried to smile but it didn't work. You kneeled down in front of him now and grabbed his hands. "Oh Chuck. What happened?" "I...I don't know. Bryce set me up. Why would he do that?" "I'm sorry Chuck. I don't know." He sighed and got up, picking up his stuff as you both slowly walked over to his car. "Thanks for picking me up and taking me home Y/N. I just didn't think I could deal with Ellie in the car right now." "Oh it's no problem at all Chuck. You know I would do anything for you. Plus I am all caught up with school right now and acing all my classes so I think I can manage being away for a short while." "That's amazing Y/N. I am so proud of you." Chuck quickly put his things in the car and then walked over to hug you which you accepted. "And Chuck?" He looked down at you still holding you. "I'm still proud of you too. No matter what." Chuck smiled and you both got in your car and drove away. END OF FLASHBACK

FYI: In the SCOTUS challenge to MS's 15-week abortion ban, Jonathan Mitchell, the architect of TX's SB 8, has filed an amicus brief on behalf of TX Right to Life. The brief invites the Court to overrule Roe & Casey AND Lawrence & Obergefell, 2 major LGBTQ equality decisions. https://t.co/sVREiCNZrl
Okay so what do we do now? The Democrats are useless to help and the Republicans are pushing for a white nationalist theocracy. So what do we DO?!
