Soundwave's cassettes appear over time-

Rumble and Frenzy are first. Minicons were still quite rare at the time, and so Sentinel was like "These two are malformed and tiny, what good are they to me?" So he had them shipped to the surface and left to fend for themselves. They trekked together and kept each other alive throughout the dangers of the surface, before being found by the High Guard. Soundwave is like "Tiny little spies that Sentinel won't notice! Perfect!" and takes them in.

During the attack on the High Guard hideout and following, Soundwave has the twins hide for safety until he comes back for them.

Shortly following proper banishment, the pair come back from a scouting mission with Ravage. "I found a kitty!" Rumble announces, "Can we keep him, Soundwave? Pleeeeeease?"

Ravage likes them, so whatever. Surely a cyberpanther will be useful somehow.

Then one day, Ravage escapes and comes back with a bird in his mouth.

Great, more little spies. We'll call you Laserbeak- Oh, you have a friend? Perfect, you'll be Buzzsaw-

So many reasons to love this moment:

1) The two "pacifists" are actually mean girls who rate everyone in their free time

2) Rin actually listening in the whole time

3) Yukki looking a bit anxious because he can sense the dark vibes from behind them

3) And then there is Nagi. SMILING WITH INTENTION FOR THE FIRST TIME. Compared to other moments which are like "maybe he smiled? Was that a smile? Probably could be seen as a smile...", this is gold because it is so obvious that he smirks because he knows that Rin can hear him 😂 and also breaking the fourth wall smugly looking at the audience because he knows we're in on the joke.
