Any thoughts on the new Madoka trailer?
I got like 5 asks about this so I'll just answer this one, lol
youtube
I actually didn't know the trailer was going to drop today so this was a very pleasant surprise!!
First things first, I gotta talk about the music. Yuki Kajiura is a goddess and by far my favorite composer ever. The music is on point and feels perfectly in place with the PMMM verse despite Kajiura not composing for the series since Rebellion (correct me if I'm wrong, I just know that she didn't compose for Magia Record). I absolutely can't wait to hear the soundtrack!
Also, it looks that this movie will indeed be a direct continuation of Rebellion, which I'm excited for. It also looks like Homura is being set up as the antagonist and some visual cues suggest her universe is unstable (this was also the case at the end of Rebellion). I've said this all along, but I hope this movie (movies?) end with the rest of the Holy Quintet reaching out to Homura and telling her to stop taking things on by herself and to rely on them, and her actually taking their advice. This girl needs a hug and some therapy after everything she's been through.
Oh, and of course, there's obvious costume changes- both for the school uniforms and the magical girl costumes. The girls (sans Homura) also look younger. This seems to be a result of Homura's powers, but I'm not sure what the exact meaning is yet.
In any case, I'm really pumped for this movie!! I can't believe we're finally getting a continuation of Rebellion after all these years.

I didn't discuss Rebellion in my earlier post about anticipating plot twists in Madoka Magica, partly because I came to it already spoiled for both reveals, and partly because at least one twist plays by very different rules than those of the main series. While I can't speak to what I might have been able to guess had circumstances been otherwise, I can talk about the structure of these twists, and how they function in the narrative.
The first twist (Homura is a witch) is relatively straightforward, and I would argue, entirely guessable on first viewing approximately forty minutes into the movie. This is the scene on the bridge connecting Mitakihara to whatever is outside of it (answer: void), where Homura and Kyouko are being stalked by zombies who are wearing masks with Homura's face on them. I mean, yes, there are Kyouko masks, too, but let's be real, the symbolism cannot be more obvious.
Not only do the zombies peacefully disperse when Homura explains the situation--subconsciously responding to her will--Homura is awfully well-versed on the nature of witches, something that only she is in a position to know. This is followed by an incredibly surreal sequence as Homura "descends" into a landscape of blurry mosaics playing out various scenes from the original series--not unlike how the "paintings" in her apartment re-played her memories in the original series, or a witch's labyrinth.
At this point in the story, all of the major players have been introduced, so the witch has to be one of them--it can't be a random person we've never heard of before with no previous connections to the main cast. Likewise, we've seen Sayaka and Charlotte's labyrinths, so the false Mitakihara wouldn't be their style, Madoka is unlikely to be the culprit, and Kyouko isn't faking her confusion. The only other person besides Homura who might concoct such a fantasy of "everyone getting along and having adventures" is Mami, and yet the plot of Rebellion kicks off with Homura joining the team, (despite the initial fake-out that makes it seem like the film will follow Madoka's POV) implying that she is the central character. And while Kyubey could certainly be responsible (and is later proven to be involved), he cannot be the witch himself; he can only manipulate what is already there, not create from scratch.
Thus, I'd argue that it's entirely possible to guess the witch's identity from the bridge scene onward, with more and more evidence piling up in Homura's favor until the actual reveal thirty minutes later. However, the second twist (Homura becoming the devil) is structured very differently and deliberately to keep it from being guessable on first viewing. Despite the fact that it is foreshadowed well in advance in the famous "flower field" sequence between Homura and Madoka, it utterly fails what I call the "Vonnegut test" after this iconic quote from Kurt Vonnegut:
Give your readers as much information as possible as soon as possible. To hell with suspense. Readers should have such complete understanding of what is going on, where and why, that they could finish the story themselves, should cockroaches eat the last few pages.
Urobuchi and Co. achieve this paradox by doing what I call "the Unreliable Narrator technique"--they show us what is happening in the flower field sequence, but they do not provide sufficient context to allow the viewers to draw the appropriate conclusions at the time. Ironically, for a movie that takes place primarily in Homura's psyche, so much of her motivation and thought process remains ambiguous, precisely because of this method. Instead, we are shown Homura's moment of epiphany, but not what it means, which remains ambiguous right up until the moment of reveal.
It is technically possible to guess this particular twist in advance, but is it likely? If the last few pages of the Rebellion script were eaten by cockroaches and fans were forced to reconstruct the ending from scratch, do you think they would all reach that particular conclusion? My guess is probably not. This kind of twist is really only visible in hindsight, precisely because the audience isn't provided with the information they need to judge the situation correctly.
So, no, I'm not just salty because I would never have guessed this plot twist on first viewing in a million years. I'm salty because I'm not sure that anyone could--and if you did, my hat is off to you and I want to know your secrets.
(Urobuchi pulls a similar stunt in Thunderbolt Fantasy S3, and it drove me fucking crazy, because it was extremely clear from context that one character was not what he appeared to be, but the show hadn't given me any hints about when the switch had occurred, so while I could infer that something had happened, I had no way of knowing what or how, because I was operating in a complete vacuum! In this case, the creators took pity on me by eventually showing a flashback scene outlining the missing steps in great detail, as opposed to merely monologuing about it after the fact, as happens in Rebellion.)
As you can probably tell, I have a lot less patience for this particular kind of plot twist--at best, I think it's not particularly fair to the audience, and at worst, it can come off as a random ass-pull. As a reader, I like to be rewarded for close attention to detail, so the author yelling "PSYCH! IT WAS SOMETHING ELSE I DELIBERATELY DIDN'T EXPLAIN THE WHOLE TIME!" is not a fun experience for me. It's the sort of twist that I can't even feel bad about not being able to anticipate because the game is so steeply rigged in the house's favor.
I'm not sure I would call it cheating, exactly, but I do think it's disingenuous, and I can't help wishing the creators of Rebellion had opted for a different route and been slightly less subtle in their approach. Fingers crossed that they don't end up bringing this kind of twist back for Walpurgis no Kaiten.

for the unrecommend a book thing: i'm going to cheat and go with a play. that play is part ii of johann wolfgang von goethe's faust (that one about the middle-aged german doctor who makes a deal with the devil, acquiring a demonic sugar daddy). my goodness, it's a downgrade. weird time-travel shenanigans where faust is determined to go back in time so he can fuck helen of troy, pseudo-symbolic shit with a homunculus, squandered character development of a character we saw in part i who LOOKED like he would be set up for a bigger character arc... there's a lot. don't even get me started on the ending, because what the actual fuck was up with that. you know how "puella magi madoka magica: the rebellion story" was very divisive and still is? faust part ii's ending is sort of like that except most people i've met also agree "yeah no part ii kind of sucks ending-wise". it's just the rebellion story without the pretty music and the trippy animated nightmare sequences (though i liked rebellion. So.)
i liked rebellion a lot up until the part where homura became satan, i talked about it a while back but i feel like the last 15 minutes of the movie were redundant when it comes to the themes of the movie, even though i knew what they were trying to do it and i ultimately do like the very end of it, i feel that it needlessly repeats what the entire movie had been about at that point and i also feel that the decision to become a demon was so ooc for homura that her entire personality did a 180 to try to justify it in the writing
i go more into my opinion on it and cite my sources in this post but i maintain that rebellion is still a very good experience and i would certainly watch it again
anyway onto your recommendation, i didn't realize faust had a part 2! granted when it comes to classical literature i'm not the most well versed in goethe's work, but i have read the original faust and i enjoyed it quite a bit. it was very influential in a lot of creative circles and it's even resulted in its own adjective (faustian, which fits in the same box of fun literary terms as kafkaesque in my mind) so i feel as though i should know more about it. when you describe part 2 to me though it sounds pretty nonsensical and inconsistent with the original story in terms of tone, it sounds silly when you put it the way that you did lol. i'm glad i'm not too into faust because i would have been very disappointed if i'd gotten super into faust and then realized that the sequel was a sack of shit
thank u for the recommendation, lemme know if there's anything you'd suggest i read or further stay away from lol

Looking back now and reading various translations of lyrics, this song feels like it fits 2 anime characters (this is just my own musing lol):
1. Homura Akemi from Madoka Magica
Though Homura and (maybe) Madoka were already quite embodied through "Magia", this song's lyrics also kinda reflects Homura's suffering in the timeloop just to change Madoka's fate. Even the opening verse sounds like Homura's resolution. And the words "yokubukai kokoro/ greedy heart" definitely describes Homura, especially after what she did in the Rebellion movie.
GOSHHHH THE NEW MOVIE IS COMING. I HOPE KAJIURA-SAN WOULD PICK HIKARU TO SING ANOTHER HEARTBREAKING BANGER SONG. Magia and Hikarifuru keep on playing in my head 😭😭😭
2. O!Ciel Phatntomhive from Black Butler
I originally fancied that "Consolation" reflects the Blue Memory arc of the manga. I always imagine the manor fire incident when i listen to this song. But of course, the line "Quo vadis, Domine" doesn't fit o!Ciel. He made a contract with a demon for the purpose of taking revenge after all. And that revenge is his desire. Being consoled has no longer use for him but i think the last part of the song fits him well. That when everything's burned, he'll finally find consolation (and will be eaten by Sebastian lol).
AND I'M STILL GRIEVING ABOUT THE FACT THAT WE NO LONGER HAVE KALAFINA NOW THAT WE FINALLY HAVE A NEW SEASON. (insert s2 ed song 😭😭😭)
Oh and do remind me to pick a manga panel for my fanart reference.
Hi Sarah! How's everything going? ヽ(・∀・)ノ I wanted to ask you if you know of any interviews were Consolation (the song) is discussed. Also, what is your interpretation of the song? I was randomly going around YT and got to hear this amazing piece live by our utahimes and got curious about it. Hope I don't bother you, thank you in advance!~ヾ(・ω・)
Hi there!!
Sorry, my reply is long-overdue. This has been sitting in my drafts for a very long time. “Consolation” is hands down one of Kalafina’s BEST songs, I LOVE IT SO MUCH. Especially the live version from their 9+ONE tour. Everyone needs to check it out in case they haven’t yet.
Back when the album was released I wasn’t as involved in the fandom as I am now and my Japanese was also not that great so I didn’t really know of any interviews where they discussed the song in detail. I had also never really taken a close look at the lyrics before.
Oh well, I thought I would use the opportunity to dig a little deeper. After a quick search I came across two interviews that provide a bit of insight regarding the album and the title song. I also tried to delve into the world of the lyrics and see what I could come up with.
My simple interpretation based on my findings 〈(•ˇ‿ˇ•)-→
I believe the song is fundamentally about the dilemma of wanting two things that are mutually exclusive. On the one hand you wish to find peace, relief and consolation but on the other hand you are greedy and you cannot stop wanting more. Since it seems you can’t have both you resign yourself to finding solace in the suffering you are enduring while struggling to fulfil all of your desires.
Below the cut you can check out my interview and lyric translations〈(•ˇ‿ˇ•)-→
Repotama Interview
Re album title and concept: Humans are greedy creatures by nature. There is a constant struggle to fulfil one’s own desires and ultimately there is also a wish to feel a true sense of comfort and consolation. However, one can never reach a point of absolute satisfaction but we might find consolation in the fact that having needs and desires is the only constant in our lives.
Re song: Due to its “coined words chorus” the song becomes quite exciting for the listeners. Our three distinctive voices are heard very clearly, Hikaru expresses a “fierce energy and determination regarding the fulfilment of one’s desires” and Wakana changes the song completely with her soothing and comforting vocals conveying a sense of “finding consolation amidst your struggles”. The duality which is expressed through those two voices enables you to fully enjoy Kalafina’s singing power.
Animate Times Interview
Re album title and concept: Consolation, relief and satisfaction are usually seen as something that stands in glaring contrast to our desires but maybe true comfort and consolation can be found within the suffering we are enduring in our constant pursuit of happiness and our struggles to fulfil our desires.
Re song: ――The title song『consolation』 feels extremely passionate, hard and energetic. One of its charms is the use of rare words such as 「むごたらしい / mugotarashii / incredibly brutal」, something that might not work for other songs.
Hikaru:I sang this word with a sense of unease, like feeling trapped *laughs*
Keiko:"This song is hard so you can’t just use ordinary words in it”, that’s what Kajiura-san told us smiling wearily, this was one of her main worries regading the lyrics *laughs*. The melody is dramatic and the overall sound feels hard and unforgiving. When we listened to the music track my first impression was, “oh my God, this is so hard, where am I gonna breathe?” Kajiura-san’s inspiration for the music is also heavily reflected in the lyrics so I guess that’s why she was seeking out words that are rarely used in everday life. She also opted to have lines that are neither Japanese nor English but instead Latin. We have had elements of Latin in our songs before but in this particular song we all thought that Latin would be a particularly perfect fit.
――The part where you sing <Quo Vadis Domine?> right? The passion of the song and the Latin really go well together.
Keiko:It means<Lord/Where are you going?>. Since this is the title song of the album I think that Kajiura-san chose the lyrics very carefully in order to encourage many different interpretations, the words are supposed to stretch one’s imagination. Initially I thought the words were very difficult but as time went by I realised that the words were actually quite simple and raw. People seek comfort and relief, in order to reach that goal we are living our lives filled with greed, always thinking, “I want this or I want to be like that”. Hikaru is the one embodying this determination, this bundle of desires with her fierce vocals. Wakana on the other hand is the one who is asking with her voice, “is there any relief or consolation awaiting me at the end of it all?” I think those two things come across very clearly in the song. It’s been about a month since we have finished the album production, after talking with Kajiura-san and singing the song together with the other two members as well as singing it by myself I think I can finally say that I understand the meaning of it. Also, I think the song was very difficult for you Wakana, wasn’t it?
Wakana:Yes. I sang this without any boundaries which was quite fun but it was also very hard. There are parts of the song that make total sense and other parts that are completely inconsistent, as such the song feels very raw and human.
―― There is a sense of “self-contradiction”“, like you are stuck having to choose between mutually exclusive alternatives. <Yet the greedy heart keeps reaching out / Unable to give up / Until it sleeps, satiated / It’ll take the darkest path>. These lines very clearly express this sort of self-contradiction, on the one hand you are greedily seeking something while at the same time you are hoping to find peace and solace. I guess that’s a very human thing to do.
Wakana:Kajiura-san told us,"comfort and consolation are the opposite of desire, aren’t they?” People are motivated by their needs and desires "because comfort alone does not provide satisfaction”.
English Lyrics (taken from the Consolation booklet, with a few minor alterations)
Breathing alone won’t make wishes come true Please grant me tears and sorrow So I may go in deeper
Your God, so brutally beautiful Loved only those that were destroyed utterly and furiously
Quo Vadis Domine? A voice that can hardly be called a prayer I know one day your wishes alone will be answered
To the base of the taut sky We carry our burden And walked in haste as if to run away
Slowly, the first stars Shed light on your way Glittering in the pale depth of the valley
Quo Vadis Domine? One day I hope you will find consolation But if the heart remains wanting It will be unattainable
Yet the greedy heart keeps reaching out Unable to give up Until it sleeps, satiated It will take the darkest path
The soul that wants to devour all Spit out the dream it had clung to And shouted, “have mercy on me!”
Quo Vadis Domine? One day I hope you will find consolation When all has been burnt to pieces I believe you will finally reach your goal
#black butler#kuroshitsuji#madoka magica#puella magi madoka magica#kalafina#consolation#KALAFINA#Hikaru my gurrrrrllll#9plus one live really rocked it#and i miss keiko's taunting low belts#and i keep on longing for wakana's heart-tugging voice#if blue memory arc gets animated I'll have to make AMV with this song#i wonder if homura has an amv of this#consolation definitely wouldn't have been as dark if not for hikaru. [ID: Scenes from Puella Magi Madoka Magica and PMMM: Rebellion overlaid with lyrics from Genius of “First Love / Late Spring” by Mitski
1. Homura looks cold as she walks ahead of a nervous Madoka on Homura’s first day of school. / “And I was so young when I behaved twenty-five.”
2. Homura and Madoka kneel on the ground in a field of flowers, Madoka hugging Homura. Homura looks to the sky and cries as a dark ripple spreads from her, turning the flowers purple. / “Yet now, I find I've grown into a tall child.“
3. The Mitakihara City bus comes to a stop against a abstract, nightmarish backdrop of windmills against a bright red sky. / “And I don’t wanna go home yet.”
4. Homura flips her hair with a determined expression as she walks back to the city. The full moon hangs bright behind her, far too large and close to the earth. / “Let me walk to the top of the big night sky.” End ID]

i am thinking. about potential conclusions/resolutions i’d like for madoka and homura’s situation...
not necessarily like, in canon/the movies, but in my headcanons.
i’d really enjoy if they both had to compromise a little, both sacrificing a part of themselves for the other but also learning to let the other look after them and take on some of their pain as well?? i mentioned before that i like madoka staying as a god but homura helping make her existence as one more bearable... i’d also like it if part of the reason madoka stayed a god was for homura’s sake, though. now i don’t know why or how staying as a god would actually help homura yet, but.
i’m picturing a scenario that’s like... i suppose homura taking on the full burden of the weight of cycles and maintaining the world is hurting her somehow. i don’t think that’s necessarily implied in canon (except for the pain she feels from her guilt) but work with me here.
madoka takes back her position as a god to spare homura from that, but also she lets homura take on some of her pain in her place so that she can live a normal life at the same time as being a god (somehow), both because that’s what homura wants for her (to be happy) and because it’s what she deserves (happiness).
i just don’t know what the mechanics and reasoning behind all this would be, otl.
#ooc#headcanons.#i suppose i'm trying to create a post-rebellion verse here lol#i'd like either a scenario where either madoka is still ''removed'' from the world but homura is somehow with her#making her position as a law of the universe something she's able to bear#OR a scenario where she's somehow both acting as a god AND a normal human at the same time#partially cause i like the concept of people interacting with her normally while having no clue how powerful she really is haha#maybe i'll make verses for both concepts?? hmm

yes YES YES, Like the Dawn is THE oh hellos madohomu song. Whenever I hear it, I also think of it like…. Madoka after becoming Madokami still holds onto her bond with Homura to stay human, if that makes sense?
Specifically I imagine that existing as a god for eternity takes a toll on your humanity, and the way that Madokami stays human is through the single person that still knows her. I’ve always thought of that as why Homura keeps her memories of Madoka: it’s a vulnerability that someone can exploit, but at the same time Madoka NEEDS it to stay herself.
And wow, I never thought of how this song also plays into how Madoka and Homura constantly change each other (and how they love every version of each other anyway). And the Oh Hellos religious imagery plays so well into Madoka and Homura, I agree!
also applicable to this theme of Madokami needing Homura to be human: Boreas. I need to talk about this one.
Wraith-arc Homura sings most of it:
—as she tries so hard to honor Madoka’s sacrifice by living on, but she falls to the pain of doubting it. “Halfway out the door” - she knows she’s going to die to sheer grief. And the “wildfire” verse first refers to how Madoka sacrificed herself for something better, but the repeat of the wildfire verse then starts to mean Homura’s name and that she’s the one in Rebellion who decides to try for an even better system, with the cost of herself. “Be a darker soil” - both Homura and Madoka sacrifice to make the universe just a little bit better, just a little more kind.
Madokami sings the second to last verse, that huge amazing chorus of voices like the Law of Cycles itself is singing, her promise to give everything and anything to everyone as long as Homura is there to remember her (“Don’t forget, always, somewhere, someone is fighting for you. As long as you remember her (Homura), you (Madoka) are not alone”).
And the last verse could be either Madoka whispering sadly about how she hopes that her memory warms Homura at least a little, since she knows Homura is tired and hurt—or it could be Homura singing. About what she does in Rebellion, how she wants so much to “be a little bit of warmth” for Madoka, and how she hopes so much that the life she gives to Madoka will be something that Madoka enjoys in the face of a cold uncaring universe that hurt both of them.
thoughts on any oh hellos songs applying to pmmm?
Many. Many many thoughts
MOST IMPORTANTLY. LIKE THE DAWN. MADOKA AND HOMURA.
I always thought of “sleeping in the garden” being about how they met, for Homura “sleeping” is when the Witch was controlling her and Madoka saved her life. Madoka changed her world then, and became her “light in the darkness”. Something to hold on to.
It works the other way too. Madoka seeing Homura as a magical girl for the first time (not including the dream sequence) when Gertrude, The Rose Garden witch, attacks. Homura tries lead Madoka to a better life, away from all the darkness being a magical girl had to offer. Her name literally means flame and she tries to be Madoka’s dawn in the darkness.
More on Madoka literally being Homura’s light, her sun, the thing to give her world meaning. She changed everything.
Homura being willing to sacrifice her life and literally the whole world to be with Madoka. Madoka becoming a god to save everyone thanks to Homura’s power. I’m so normal about this
The fact that it’s a song about the first humans created, with Adams lines being sung by a woman, with all the religious imagery and god/devil stuff and the fact that Homura and Madoka are constantly creating versions of each other and changing each other and AHHHHH. I would go on but I’m pretty sure most of this is incoherent as it is.
I’ll rb with more songs and comparisons later when i have time cause this combination is brainworms
#please tell more about this specific combination because you’re right it is EXCELLENT#don’t worry about being incoherent. i am equally full of thoughts and i want to scream#every single time I hear an oh hellos song I think of pmmm#religious themes and love and healing <3#pmmm#madohomu#the oh hellos#rebloog#pmmm analysi#pmmm rebellion#madoka kaname#homura akemi

Jujutsu Kaisen / Madoka Magica
Hey everyone. 18+ roleplay writer who is around literate and novella style. I'm looking for a Jujutsu Kaisen rp and by a long shot Madoka Magica too, although i don't think I'll get a lot of request for that.
I've been wanting to play Satoru Gojo, moreover my own iteration of him. I'd like to write him a little bit different from usual protrayals that I've seen. I'd love to explore his complexity as the strongest and yet not strong enough character in the series. Someone that still wonders over the fact whether he is the strongest because he's Satoru Gojo, or is he Gojo Satoru because he's the strongest. So expect a lot of angst from my side haha.
I'm also open for OC's! Though I might refuse some if they don't fit together in my opinion. But I love seeing well thought out original characters, so send away dear fellow writers. (Please don't be intimated)
Equally also open for canon ships, emphasis on a Geto Suguru pairing. But also open for any other ships, except the ones where the other character isnt in Satoru's age (Like say, I'm not one for Itadori x Gojo, or Fushigoru x Gojo.)
The only requirements I ask of a partner are that they're 18+ (very fine with older partners too), at minimum semi-lit and patient with me, because I do have a busy schedule and tend to take a little before responding. Though I'd say that's because I also put a lot of work into my responses. However you can always talk in general with me.
That all said, I'm an avid plotter. I love talking headcanons and imaginations. Who knows, maybe I'll even draw a picture.
As a sidenote from me, I know some people only play submissive/dominant characters. I might not be the right one for you if you're adamant about one role, as I don't like to define the characters I play as only by their sexual preference. I mean sure, I'm open for some kinky nsfw scenes but those are like not detrimental to the story, for me personally.
With that out of the way, I hope to find some meaningful rps (despite me being very busy.) 🌟
As for Madoka Magica, I was hoping someone would write the Homura to my Madoka in verse after the ending of rebellion. I was thinking it would be interesting to write and Madoka slowly regaining her memories as well, but more on that in dms.
I think that was it? Like this post or dm me if you're interested! Toodles.

Ok so, my favorites are:
(Lots of Sayaka themes in this)
Witch World #2 (the theme in the scene with Elsa Maria in the movies), i especislly liked the the repeat of the verse when Elsa Maria knocks Sayaka to the heavens, the change in the intensity really shows how Sayaka always forces herself to stay on the same path (verse) even when it sbsolutely brutalizes heri really love that scene!! Elsa Maria is also so far the only witch that felt like she is actually saying to herself "im gonna kill you" against the girls, the rest all felt somewhat either unaware of themselves or unthreatening tbh, and the music with Elsa's outburst really cements her as my favorite scene n song evah
also THE LOW STRINGS AAAAA the dissonance between decretum absolutely SCREAMING at high notes and the low ones feel like a desperate cry being supressed when the low instruments are playing their high notes, it really makes ot feel like a limit is being Pushed
My next favorite is Something, Everything, is Wrong along with all leitmotif songs of Mada Dame Yo, the song really gives me a vibe of cheerful yet hiding something in some versions, and twisted fairy tale vibes in others.
Mada Dame Yo itself is also a favorite, its a song that confidently "banishes" Nightmares, but also kind of comes out of nowhere in its style and the voice doesnt match any of the characters or previous songs, which makes it a lot like a witch theme (homura's!) despite being in a point where we dont even suspect witches
I loved Symposium Magarum, the repeating and loud orchestra hits really give me a "Sayaka isolating from the outside" or her saying "SHUT UP" vibes
lyric version of Sagitta Luminis just made me straight up cry, its so bittersweet and highlights just how wrong the situation is yet how wonderful what was done is and starts a new beginning and-
i dont think i need to explain why i like Decretum and Credens Justitiam
Magia really gives the vibe Homura lives by, aka, being incredibly metal yet still unable to push back despair and still being a "losing" theme despite being so hardcore and full ot determined lyrics
Connect, both the regular version and the show credits orchestra version, just make me wanna run forwards and never look back despite ANY obstacle, and just have sooooo much courage in themmmm
Same with the Holy Quintet theme from the group transformation in rebellion, it just captures all of them so well. ofc i especially love Sayaka's part bc im a sucker for my blue daughter and her and her stupid little heroic themes..... grah......
my heart cannot explain what She is a Witch does to me... it's such a burst of despair and you can't take it anymore so you curse everything around...
Human Bullet is just very unrelenting like Kyoukos personality
Confessio is very old in vibe and feels like an unapproachable monolith of a mindset formed many years ago
just like Kyoukos personality since the Incident! (i love her stubborn self)
And I'm Home just straight up killed me i will not start on this just see how i write about kyousaya
see above for Kimino Ginno Niwa but change to madohomu it just takes all of their journey and elegantly drop bombs it on you in a condensed package trimmed of everything else to maximise emotional grief like Yuki Kaijura composed it while possesed by the Incubator himself
And finally, Flame of despair...
the motifs of Oktavia's theme to show Homura finally understands what it's like to really lose it ALL... Fort/Da in the background of the scene because she simply Must pretend she is in control to simply EXIST.... the back and forth between the instruments giving ballet vibes and a ferling of chasing something which always will escape, doing so alone withe the lonely single instrument beats in between... im ILLLL
.
Anyway i like almost all songs and probs forgot a few i really like but yeah :D
watched madoka amvs and osts for 4 hours it is early morning and i have yet to sleep send rescue

Do you know what I love about the PMMM franchise? The concept of puella magi and witches can be squeezed to fit into pretty much any other franchise. Into any era of time. I mean... The race of Incubators can be throughout the universe. For goodness sake, they would even contract with an alien species from the other end of the galaxy. Magical girls can be found throughout any time era. Of course, this claim can be proven with the help of the original anime’s last episode when Madoka ascends time and space. Magical girls can be found during the times of Joan of Arc to the times of Cleopatra. Even an unnamed Viking Girl can be seen in the last episode. Do you know how profound that is? Seeing girls from multiple time eras during the final episode opens up endless possibilities.
Magical girls and witches are meant to be invisible to the rest of the world. They are forever fighting in the background throughout history. The type of universe or the time era is irreverent to Incubators or the girls that make contracts with them. This helps Homura be perfect for almost any fandom without almost changing anything. (The only thing that would be altered would most likely have to be her choice of weapons and tiny things like that.) Her ascension from human to Homucifer near the end of Rebellion gives her even further range because she has enough power to alter the whole universe. This means she can travel to any world at any time if she wishes to do so. I adore the potential with Homucifer.
The decision to squeeze her into any other franchise without changing her character is tempting. I often feel ridiculously tempted to leave everything untouched. There will be times that I won’t change anything about Homura when it comes to her interactions with other muses from other fandoms. Her status as a magical girl or an omniscient being leaves room for potential. But with all of this being said— I would love to create more verses for Homura. I already have a list of verses that I want to make. I’m always so slow with making verses.
But right now? I’m in for mood for Homura to be a vampire. I have been thinking about Vampire Knight for way too long. Vampire Knight has always been a favorite anime and manga. Do you know how much I adore the manga’s art style? Yuki was always a favorite character of mine. It has been ages since I have touched the series... But I’m already dying to throw Homura into the Vampire Knight universe. Be on the lookout for the verse.

Hi so uh I have a question, if you have the time? I plan on cosplaying Madoka in her school uniform with yellow ribbons, I even have a homemade a Homucifer ragdoll to carry! Can you think of any imagery I can include in some way (via makeup, hairclips, etc) that would really help drive home the point of which version of Madoka I am? The easy answer might be gold contacts but I cant do that because of sensory issues with my eyes. I have some cross shaped earrings but is there anything else? Thanks in advance! <3
The first idea I had when you sent me this was to add scars, ribbons or bandages to your wrists/hands! The place Homura grabbed onto Madoka from in Rebellion is really striking and holds a lot of symbolism. If you don’t know how to/want to add scars/cuts to your wrists with makeup, I bet you could tie a red or pink ribbon around them.
In terms of post-Rebellion Madoka, another fun thing to do could maybe be adding a hairpin of one of Homucifer’s crows to your hair? Or maybe a plush to ride on your shoulder/head. They seem to be pretty prominent in the post-Rebellion-verse.
As long as I’m mentioning hair adornments, crimson spider lilies are a huge piece of Madokami and Homucifer imagery! You could have one in your hair, or behind your ear, or maybe even a flower crown of them.
It might also be fun to add some space stuff, as an homage to Madokami’s space dress!
Whatever you do, I wanna see this cosplay when it’s done! It sounds like a good look!

Character Profile: Homura Akemi
(Major spoilers for the ending of Rebellion, and by proxy the premise of the upcoming Walpurgis Rising movie, are up ahead in the verse information. You have been warned)
“I won’t rely on anyone anymore. I don’t care if no one else understands.”
Fandom: Puella Magi Madoka Magica
Bio: Homura Akemi was a meek, timid, and physically weak high school girl who frequently ended up in the infirmary at school. However, one faithful day, she transferred to a new school and met Madoka Kaname, who revealed herself as a Magical Girl who fights Witches by protecting her from one on the way home.
However, while fighting the strongest witch-Walpurgis Night-Madoka died, and in her grief Homura made a wish to the Incubator, Kyubey: To redo her meeting with Madoka in order to save her and keep her alive through the fight with Walpurgis, no matter how many times it took. Armed with her shield of time manipulation, wit, and several stolen military weapons, she fights to save her friend. Over and over and over...
Now hardened after going through thousands of timelines, Homura frequently seems emotionless and cold to the people she meets. She refuses to let anything get in the way of her goal to protect Madoka. However, her true, emotional interior often comes to the surface when pushed enough.
Verses:
V1: time magic and madoka-Homura as she is now, described in the last paragraph.
V2: beginnings-Homura in the first dozen timelines: Meek and timid, but also courageous and kind, especially towards Madoka. She wears glasses and is a lot nicer without question to most in this verse.
V3: her new wings-Post Rebellion, Homura has usurped Madoka as the god-or rather, Devil-of the world and orchestrates things to make sure everyone remains happy and blissful. Especially Madoka, whom she fixates on. She walks among humans to keep an eye on things.
Anything Else?: By request Homura can show up as her Witch form, Homulily, for your muse to fight. Those threads, if any, will go under V4: this is my despair.
