Is the Marshal gonna have something for him? Is he gonna have to get an expensive suit? He'll do anything for his best friend's birthday, but yeesh, that's probably gonna hurt the old bank account....

I'm not sure how much I'll miss this summer event. I didn't enjoy it as much as the past two years. But it still enabled me to take some cute photos. :> I'm excited for 4.0!

"Calista, don't wander off too far, alright...? I don't want to lose you!"

"But Uncle!" Calista sighed as she glanced toward her uncle. "There's so much to see and explore while we're here. We might as well make the best of this opportunity."

"Your uncle does have a point, Lady Calista." General Asthar managed, his eyes meeting hers. "There is a lot to see, but this is a much larger area than Lazulis City. It'd be best for all four of us to stay close."

"Alright..." A sigh left the new Countess of Lazulis. A shame Zael couldn't make it for the Summer Sunset ball, as he was busy holding down things back in Lazulis Island. However, Calista promised to bring him back some souvenirs for sure, at least - and plenty of stories to tell about this whole event.

"I'm sure we'll be fine." Therius managed. "And besides, the event will be taking place over quite some time, Lady Calista. We'll have plenty of time to explore the area and participate in its festivities."

"I hope so." Calista glanced toward Therius, smiling softly. "And I would like to try riding a Chocobo at some point, too. Those sound fun."

"I saw a few people riding them earlier as we entered the city." Asthar noted. "It's similar to riding horseback, so...."

Summer 2024 is coming! several events will come waiting for us, a combination of 2016 and 2014 together!

It definitely takes a second for Prompto to recover from basically being jumpscared ( hey, it's an instinctual reaction ). But once he does, he grins, shuffling around in the bag and pulling out the biggest cookie he can pick out of the batch. It's a classic -- chocolate chip...with massive chunks for chips.

❝ You can do more than just see, ❞ he says, holding it out to Gold. ❝ I got 'em specifically to share! Here ya go. It's chocolate chunk. ❞

“I bought the most delicious cookies at the farmer’s market! Wanna try one?” froooooom Prompto!

The word 'cookies' has barely had enough time to leave Prompto's mouth before Gold nyooms over to him in an instant, his sleeves pressed up against his own face as he tries to sneak a look. "W-what kind?" He floats around Prompto's shoulders excitedly, the ends of his sleeves beginning to flap. "Can I see?"

It's true that he can't really taste anymore, for obvious reasons, but that doesn't mean he can't enjoy a delicious cookie! Maybe it's got chunks of something, or it's bright and colorful. He likes textural interest.

Eventually, he floats back in front of Prompto, his sockets getting big and wide... and glistening?

"Pleeeeaaaase?"

"It's not every day that the Citadel is open to the public like this," the blue haired man says with a quiet smile. "How are you enjoying the sights, ma'am?"

The smile is returned with a brighter one of her own. The ginger princess seemed quite at ease at the moment, simply enjoying her time in the city itself as well. "Ah, yes! The city is quite lovely. I find that seeing new things is always a wonderful experience."

Gwen tilts her head, looking at the man who had approached her with some curiosity. "And yourself, sir?"

Well, it's a good thing he doesn't need to go rifling for outfits when he already has a perfect one.

He knew it would happen long before it actually did. Big social functions like this were never Noctis's favorite thing, even if this particular big social function was for his birthday. The trials and tribulations of being royal, Prompto supposed...

But hey, he was nothing if not tuned into Noct's emotions. Even the ones that he didn't tend to want to voice.

❝ That's why I scoped out the garden. It's not too crowded right now, if you wanna slip off for a little while. If anyone asks, it's my fault for dragging you off and hogging the birthday boy to myself, 'kay? ❞

● – || Noctis was mid-conversation with one of the ball guests when his best friend approached him . Somehow , that created an aura of [ [ r e l a x a t i o n ] ] for the Prince . He could handle talking to people , but only for so long before his mind thought he could EXPLODE .

He looked at the group of people he was talking to and politely nodded as he excused himself .

" Pardon me . "

Noctis said quietly as he began walking away from the group . When they were far enough away , Noctis looked at Prompto .

" Sure . Where do you want to go ? I'm . . . a little tired of people . "

"Maybe I should buy one of those totems for good luck. One of them has to give good luck, right?"

Kamiizumi noticed DeRosa glancing at the totems on display in the farmer's market. "Honestly, I don't know how they work - perhaps it'd be good to ask first before impulse-purchasing...?"

The Red Mage chuckled at that. "Too late. Bought two just now."

"Oh no."

"They said the totems are supposed to be replicas of creatures that commune with the Astrals." Geist noted. "What those deities are, I don't know."

"That would also be good to ask," Kamiizumi managed with a sigh, "Just in case."

"Hey! It's not like I've started an end-of-the-world scenario with anything." DeRosa huffed a little, shaking his head. "Besides, at the very least I can study up on them a bit back in Luxendarc...or if there's a public library here in Insomnia, maybe I can read up on them."

"Where is it!? Where are those chocobo petting stations...?" Tahirah checked the map, just before Arlyn spoke up.

"I believe they're located at the farmer's market...Wiz's station, they said?"

"Yeah, but where's the farmer's market?" Nuriel stared around, frowning. "Are we lost? Oh, we're definitely lost."

"I think it's up ahead." Rafaele pointed ahead of the group. Cue the others turning to see -

"Oh. You're right." Tahirah beamed up at Rafaele. "Thank you, godfather! Let's get going!"

And so, the group arrived at the farmer's market, eager to pet chocobos...
