nerina needed to think, and there was really only one place the summer fae was able to do that. these seas were not so unlike the ones she was used to, and as she makes it to the beaches the summer fae is quick to shed her shoes. the sand is cool, winter in full bloom but a surprisingly beautiful sight. she still preferred the warmth. still, it seemed she was not alone, and a small smile sits atop her lips as she walks near them. " fancy finding you here. " she wondered if they too were attempting to clear their mind.

" sea snake ? " she repeats, teasing tone in her voice more than clear. " nor siren, mermaid, or beautiful eel ? " continues the older sister. her smile grows as she talks, the mischievous glint in her eye ever present. nerina just can't help it, teasing jules was easy and far too fun. the summer lady nods lightly, " i find my thoughts calm a lot when near the water. " admits she. nerina is trying to stay calm, knowing full well there is nothing that could be done. it was just maddening, she missed her ship and her bed.

most wouldn't really dare to visit a place near water when it was this cold outside, and nerina certainly understood the logic. but the beach was the closest thing the summer lady could find that reminded her of home, and it being so empty certainly was not a negative. it's why she isn't annoyed when the other fae is present, another summer face helping her not long for adriata so strongly. " i find the empty beach is a far better place for my thoughts than anywhere else. " the crashing sounds of waves soothing, far better than the banter and bustle of the crowded dusk court spots.

‘ pat chayanit, cis woman, she/her, 28 / 282 , high fae ’ ― cauldron save you. it seems NERINA DRAGOMIR has finally made it to the capital, the LADY from SUMMER COURT is said to be OBSERVANT and is said to describe themselves with THE HARSH SPLASH OF THE TIDE AS IT ROLLS IN DURING A STORM, SILENCE THAT SPEAKS VOLUMES ABOVE SCREAMING, A STRONG LOVE OF PANTS and with all of this in mind their SECRETIVE nature always seems to get them into trouble. may the mother hold them as they navigate this unthinkable time.

full name . nerina dragomir
nickname(s) . rina
age . 28 appearance / 282 actual
sexuality . pansexual
occupation . lady
species . high fae
loyalty . summer court
height . 5'5"

the third child born to the high lord, a man that by the time she knew him, was a womanizer who lost himself in others. the behavior granted other siblings, she couldn’t complain for she loves them all, but nerina would never feel the warm love of her father.
her mother was a night fae, a traveler who beguiled the high lord and never stuck around once she was born. nerina would be raised by nannies and older siblings, a chore she came to resent as it was never their place.
once old enough she found that her time was better spent at sea, sailing on her own ship, each time a bit further than the last. she’d lie to her father, he wasn’t as focused on her as he was her elder siblings, she could have gotten away with murder. if only that was the type of freedom she wanted, not a cry for attention from the father who didn’t glance her way.
her fondest stories are on the beaches, or of harsh summer storms that broke the shores of adriata. many believe the lady to be reserved and kind, but she embodies those very weathers. she can be fierce, but she is calculating. nerina keeps her true self hidden from the world and saved for herself. nobody deserves her trust, she’s only slowly giving it back to the siblings she felt so estranged from.
she isn’t a loud woman, but don’t mistake that for being meek or a lack of confidence. she has that in spades, but found that you don’t have to be the loudest in the room to be heard. she only speaks when she has something of value to say.
a fashionista, most of her travels to other courts were to explore their cultures. she’s taken bits of everything and kept it all to herself, as well as stories and tales she shares with her siblings. nerina is aware of how lucky she is, was.
she didn’t attend her father’s funeral. where she could have winnowed there, she makes the excuse of being too far away.
ironic, she will get restful if one compares her to her mother, but she’s hard pressed to stay in a place long and travel soothes her broken soul.

nerina's eyebrows raise when morgana admits they had come to seek her. she's not used to it, they hadn't grown up incredibly close nor looking out for one another. nerina had quite a lot to do with that on her own, avoiding her siblings, rebelling against their father, throwing a fit at every turn and then running from the summer court the moment she was old enough. " what can i say, i love the beach. " even in the cold. in truth, she'd never been too bothered by the chill despite being a fae of summer. nerina's eyebrows knit at mor's admission, and the cross their arms due to the cold breeze but turn their full attention to the other. " i've been overwhelmed by our lack of options as well, but i think lavinia and alina are taking it far worse. and you ? " growing up they may not have been close, but ner was trying now.

nerina's eyes only grow more concerned the closer she gets to her eldest sister, worry echoing in her soul. she doesn't show it often, concern for her siblings, but as they've spent so much time together nerina has found the emotions have grown exponentially. " what a compliment. " she replies with a grin, coming to a stop by lavinia and not mentioning the other's state. " it's not so bad, but i'm certain i will change my mind if i stay too long. " but she enjoyed the peace of the beach when it was cold, most didn't think to come out here. the cold sand was biting into her feet, but it wasn't so miserable yet. " coin for your thoughts ? "

nerina's grin flashes at the words. he's speaking her language. " hmmm. " she hums, teasing, as if she'd say no. her baby brother was a creature she may not spend a lot of time with, but nerina also was trying to change that. she'd run away from summer for so long, realized what she'd lost in the process and almost regretted it. almost. " oh, i know just where those books are hiding. " she says easily. did he mean a trip to the library ?

"my sister, do you want to do something stupid?" the second youngest dragomir proposed. was it smart to go about getting into some sort of trouble in the dusk court? probably not, but that had never stopped him in the past. it was the exact reason that he had found himself in a number of different sticky situations. even including how he had ended up falling in love with a gaean fae. "we should try to get more knowledge on the dragons, what do you say?"

nerina huffs, she really hated when another came in and proved they were right. especially when it was about her own emotions or thoughts. " maybe i am pining. " admits she, voice soft, as if she doesn't wish to really say it. she doesn't. she doesn't like admitting she's denying something. and maybe, just maybe, nerina giving up and admitting how she feels might encourage alina to do the same. it was pathetic really, both sisters all twisted and falling for a pair of best friends and both denying it to their cores. nerina laughs a bit, " at least not for an extended period of time. " admits she. ner doesn't brag about all she's done away from summer, but she also felt the need to share it wasn't entirely a one off. usually cockiness annoyed her, in alistair it was incredibly attractive. alina's words hit nerina in the chest with swift aim, taking root and taking hold. she can't play pretend, she can't deny how correct her high lady was. for someone who spent most of her life wandering, skimming the surface of relationships and refusing to plant roots – this was too new and too different. alistair was becoming her anchor, a steady presence in her life and needed to keep her tethered. she didn't want to break free. " so the day court commander has the blessing of the high lady of summer to pursue her sister. " she says with a light laugh. it's a bit of a deflect, but her tone isn't passive. nerina is in her mind, spiralling upward from the depths. now she truly does laugh, though. " please do not scare him away, but if you do wish to attempt that i require notice so i may watch. " the words alone let her imagine it, and she suspects it would not scare alistair at all.
nerina sticks her tongue out, answering the words of an eye roll with a gesture that is arguably worse. she also knows that alina isn't really upset about the gesture. the words warm her heart, though, and her expression fades into a sincere smile. " i never expected us to know one another, but im glad i was wrong. " nerina couldn't imagine her life without alina now, or their other siblings. their relationships had grown exponentially since the capital. a snicker falls from the younger summer lady. " you should see me on my ship. " nerina can be quite the commanding presence, she just chose not to be that person when she was on land. here she was a lady of summer, the wallflower who enjoyed being on the outskirts despite the day fae yanking her into the middle. " tell him how you feel, alina. " because if she is right, and nerina is certain she is, cedrian will soothe away all her sister is afraid of and convince her of his love and intentions. if not… well, ner knew some people. " and don't fool yourself into thinking you would not be good for his children, they would be lucky to have you in their lives. " she adds quickly. a heavy sigh slips from nerina's lips, the stubborn streak they gained from their father shining through in her sister more than ever now. " when he takes you to meet them i shall go too, they may as well meet one of their new aunts. " she doesn't allow her sister to think otherwise, she's certain that it will happen. " love is a sacrifice. do you not think i will stop sailing as often should alistair and i progress ? but it is a sacrifice i will happily make for him, not resent him for. " nerina shakes her head, this conversation is far too ironic not to notice. " i'll start in the morning. " she needed to practice her court social skills anyway if she were to be at court more often once they finally returned to their real lives. nerina simply looks at her sister, waiting, thinking. she decides that if she pushes too much it will only make alina upset or pull away. it may not be true, but it's not something she wishes to wager on. " i will allow you this deflection only because i think much of what we are discussing is better suited between you and cedrian. " she states, refusing to be misconstrued. " but you have made me realize he deserves a chance, and has proven this is clearly more than spying on our family. "
"this is not about what i think or believe." it was a rather endearing sight of watching ner pout as she did, only that alina didn't take amusement from it simply because her sister's very heart was on the line. the elder femme understood, that if she herself could not face to all she's feeling, then how does she expect ner to? they might be different in all aspects, but there was much they shared still , and one of this was opening to another this way, to allow another into their hearts was one of the most frightening things for the sisters. these things that came so easily to others, something they'd had witnessed around them, did not for the dragomirs, ever. when fates finally smiled upon them, in more ways than one, they were left with more uncertainty rather than enjoying the bliss of it. alina wished more than anything to ease the other's mind, to offer her further assurance but in this she could not fully guide her, it would be something ner had to uncover herself. only ner knew the man she was spending time with more than anyone, not even the high lord of day could shed light as he didn't control what his commander did with whom romantically. perhaps, just maybe she could inquire from cedrian of his commander. the protectively instincts as the elder sister certainly compelled alina to learn more of the commander, made her want to shield her siblings from such attentions, knowing well she could not do so. she's quiet as ner speak so keenly alistair, certainly receiving insight on the man and how her sister viewed him. the look in her's eyes said enough, if ner hasn't fallen for him yet, she was certainly beginning to. "cocky? i certainly would not have pictured that as your type." that bit was a jest before continuing on a serious note, though her sisters words of him do please alina. "it's frightening on any level to become so attached to another this way, but i believe you have your answer. you trust him, and you fear own your feelings for him. he has my favors simply for showing you just how devoted he is to you, and being so patient with you. it's the mark of a good man when he does not take as if he's owed anything, but waits for it to be offered." alina would still have dax inquire more of this commander, as one could never be too careful. it seemed both day lords had infinite patience when it came to the dragomir sisters. "i suppose i could always put the fear of god into him, if you think that will help you find clarity."
"now, what did i say of rolling your eyes at me?" she remarks as swiftly, but also expecting the sarcastic response from her insolent little sister - the words entirely thought with affection. years prior had someone predicted the high lady she would have such normal interactions with her sisters, she would have found it difficult to believe. ner's words about them pulling a tender look from alina, "i have had many thoughts of what sisterhood would be like between us, and it certainly does not compare to what i have been blessed with thus far." she reveals after several moments of silence. however, the silence stretches as ner continues her line of questioning, this time with far more ease than before. the tip toeing that occurred around alina seemed to gradually fall away by her two youngest sisters, but it certainly placed her in a position that left the high lady at a loss. it was one thing to bury her own thoughts but another to have her sister pry into her with concern. her sister's concern tugged at her, even as the other stands firm, expecting a response, now allowing her elder to refuse a response. "seems as if i'm rubbing off on you, and i'm not certain how i feel about it. who knew you could be so demanding?" taking a moment to collect her thoughts, "many things can happen, ner, look around us, look at where we are now. prisoners in some battle between two deities. we could be happy, and we could also be forced to face things we did not anticipate. he may think he wishes to be with me, until he's known all of me and realizes i am not good for him or his children. it's not insult to myself, its simply understanding not everyone built to be for another." her gaze meets her sister evenly, "i cannot explain it until you've known cedrian, but if you knew the way i do, you would understand why i am saying these things." every time she thought of his children, she's never met, but thinks too often of them, there was a deeper ache that found her. "four. you should hear the way he speaks of them. i also know you would care for them." in a way that had her fully visualize them. "he would do anything for those he cares about, i know he would do so for me...but i don't wish for him to make sacrifices for me." her sister makes it sound so easy, and for a moment alina wishes to simply believe that, take what ner says and take hold. "yes, we can winnow and such, but its also about many other factors." her gaze remains on ner, as if to convince the other she had little to worry of alina of all things, "i'm sure she'd appreciate the help." in truth, jules moods were all on whim, and alina wouldn't be surprised if she stepped down at any point. "my heart also has bigger things to worry of like how to ensure our court leaves safely. " alina didn't know what she deserved, but she knew what cedrian deserved. "we will worry about this, when it comes time for it." it was a small lie, knowing exactly where her heart lied, but when neither she or ced spoke of it, it was easer to ignore. "the question is will you allow yourself the same if your commander is the one you wish for?"

the trip back to his rooms felt like it took ages when in reality it was shorter than it would have been back to her own. she clings to his hand s he pulls her along, excitement thrumming her her veins and his touch the only tether she has to reality. nerina has never been this way, she's never needed another like she needs alistair. it didn't compare to the connection she had with her best friend, her crew or her siblings. it was just different. she didn't get it, didn't comprehend how someone could worm into her life and make her this crazed. knowing he felt the same ? it set her ablaze. she laughs as he pulls her inside, as his lips claim her in such a powerful kiss with an undertone of sweetness, as he pulls her in and his fingertips trace fire down her spine. " mmm… " she trails off, eyes fluttering closed as his lips trail across her tingling skin. " the straps slip right off, commander, and the dress falls right to the floor. " she'd had to step into it to get it on, the secret to taking it off easily offered to him just as she'd teased earlier in the night.
there was no doubt in his mind that ner was alot like her elder sister, closed and reserved, protective perhaps of herself but as well as her siblings. he didn't blame her for that, given all he could piece together from her rather cryptic words, it was not easy for her to even speak, let alone allow another, a stranger no less in. yet, to him, nothing about ner felt like a stranger to him, from the moment they and met and flirted, something seem to be luring, tugging them together. did he understand fully? not yet, nor could he name all that she made him feel - only that he knew he was far too gone in her. he had never felt this way for another, but he wished to continue to feel this, that he wanted her more than anything ever that he was sure he'd perish if he didn't have her. one look in her gaze as alistair holds her all too possessively, he knows he has her, just as she has him. her words were nothing less of a confirmation not just of what was about to happen between, but a promise she offers him in exchange for his. she understands now that his draw to her was not some idle, surface attraction with ulterior motives. "words i'd long to hear from you, dear nerina." he tugs her, swiftly, never letting go of her hand until they're by his chambers, but he's as swift to shut them both inside. before she could react, he has flushed against him, mouth claiming hers in a passionate but tender kiss, while hands trailed down her spine, toying with the zipper of her stunning dress, as if he could not make connect with her quick enough. "i have the urge to tear this off of you." his voice husky from desire, as his lips trailing down her neck, teeth nibbling along her soft flesh.

his words are filtering on repeat in her mind, everything he'd ever told her and everything he said now. she felt the weight of his promises, the gravity of his touch and the pull that demanded her attention. he could catch her. that promise alone settles into her heart, cracking the walls she thought none could. nerina had kept herself tethered to caution for so long, kept her heart locked up and unobtainable. allowing herself to fall, especially for someone like alistair, it was a terrifying story. nerina's mind plays over each time she pushed him away, each time she deflected his questions or hide behind her sharp tongue. he stayed, he never wavered in his persistence of her. to top it all off, he saw her, his eyes pierced down to the depths of herself nobody ever noticed. his lips are a searing fate, a promise of what will continue and what she needs to stop running from. " take me to your room, commander. " it's the answer he gets, the only one she thinks he needs to hear.
her silence and evasiveness had certainly left the commander's mind spinning each time he attempted to inquire. now, as curious as he was, he had been careful in his inquiring, never too direct but slipping in tidbits of his own childhood in day court in hopes that she'd share hers. what she did share however were vague bits that did began to connect over time, but never quite fully forming a complete picture. the only thing she'd offered him entirely was tales of her travels as he'd once requested from her but whenever the topic circled to her court, it wasn't hard to miss how nerina went out of her way to either change the topic or return it to him. what she did share was how beautiful her court was, what her people were like as whole but of the dragomirs? nothing. it certainly had fueled his suspicions of what was spoken between him and cedrian, of whatever he could uncover from high lady alina - which was also not much it seemed. perhaps another in his place would see this as something to wary of, but it seemed neither his high lord nor alistair himself would ever. it did nothing to dissuade the commander, when he'd all but found himself tangled into a complication of wanting this lady in his arms more than anything else. he should be wary of what he could find, but he was not, only perhaps a different ache of what had gone in her family that left her so tight-lipped. so when he urges her to share, even now as he all but reveals how much he wishes to be with her, wants to embed himself in every bit of her being, her words do cause him to pause. his gaze shifting fully to meet her, not entirely surprise of her words but in the manner that she spoke them. "i will give you all the time, so long as you intend to open yourself to me." he knew he couldn't push, but what he could do was show her how he would be here. that their little game that had began had evolved into something that neither expected and neither could fight. tucking her hair gently behind her ears, he pressed a kiss to her temple, "i will do what i can to make it just a bit easier for you each day." it was then he knew, without a doubt, she had never allowed anyone and it was a terrifying thought for her, but then wasn't it for him, too? a man who never wished to settle, certainly not after watching his best friend grieve his wife and the love his life as he had, now wanted nothing more than to call this captivating his lady own? it was gamble for him too. her words do send his racing, "together." he repeats in a lower murmur, relieve settling in him to hear her confirm he wasn't alone in this.
truly, it was hard to believe she thought herself as a wallflower, when nothing about her from her beauty, to her quick wit, and sense of humor would ever have another draw that conclusion. he supposed he hadn't helped matters when he knew, they both knew he'd perused initially only for his high lord's sake. then so had she, he was aware of this too. did his actions somehow add cause to her thoughts of herself? he supposed he'd be working every moment they had together to prove to her she was nothing of that sort in his gaze . everything about her was unforgettable, how else would he describe every night he'd laid awake in his bed longing to go to her? how he was counting minutes and hours until he could see her next when he was tied up in commander duties. "it never was true, just because you believe so, doesn't make it so, my lady." he murmured, but his words and voice were entirely firm. "nothing about you can be mistaken for a wallflower. perhaps you did not notice, but i did, of every male gaze here that turned in your direction when you made your way to me here." alistair took great pleasure in this because she had been focused on the commander that she did not notice her admirers. he doesn't waste a moment when he see's the yearning in her gaze that reflects his own, claiming her mouth in a searing kiss that left no room for doubt. the moment she returned kiss with equal passion, she had told him all that he wished to know. she was his. he never quite denied himself his desires, but with her it had been a first he had waited, showed such an incredible amount of patience that certainly had been worth it. "i will always be here to catch you, nerina, i swear on my life. you don't trust easily, i will prove to you, i can be trusted." he pressed another lingering kiss to her lips, shifting back enough to peer into her gaze. "do you still wish to be here? i wish to be alone with you." he would leave it up to her what she wished to do, but he was certain he wasn't mistaking her desire.

the way she was raised had created a tangle of memories with sharp edges and wounds that never fully healed. spots in her soul that scarred over and still ached from time to time. nerina didn't like to think of her childhood, of the sounds her father's feet made as they echoed through the halls of the summer court. children's laughter wa rare, warm hugs forgotten, and care from a parent all but impossible. staff stepped in, tried to help, but it could only do so much. her siblings were distant portraits more than close friends, even if that changed as of late. her father was a myth more than a man, focused on his own vices and alina rather than the rest of them. and her mother ? a ghost that lingered in nerina's reflection but never stayed long enough to actually help the girl. in truth, if nerina talked of her childhood it would come across as if she didn't love her siblings, and she did so incredibly fiercely. but love wasn't enough to save them from their childhood, and in their adulthood it wasn't easy to navigate one another. the way they grew up all formed their traumas, and nerina's had taken on the habit of being incredibly guarded and running away from everything. so in her unwillingness to share her family with alistair, it had far more to do with her mind and her upbringing than not trusting him. his request makes her bite her lip, and the only words she can share are, " be patient with me, alistair. some parts of my soul are hard to share. " the admission flies from her tongue with an ease she hadn't expected, and she hopes that he understands. she needs him to understand. even if it hadn't been meant to happen – if alistair was meant to mean nothing to her, bounding into her life with his charm and arrogance, a tongue slicked with wit and dangerous intentions – he'd changed all her plans. that flirty banter of his no longer seemed laced with bad intentions, but desires that threatened to pull her under. his sharp arrogance turned into a charming confidence, and nerina found that she wanted to linger in his orbit just a little longer each time. he wasn't just another face in the crowd anymore, not a temporary thrill to pass the time. he was someone she wanted. letting him in would be terrifying, but she knew she needed to. alistair wasn't someone who wanted to tame her either, he was someone who complimented her very soul. " i think we're already doing that together. " she mumbles, caught up in the heightened moment, the emotions swirling in her chest taking over.
nerina had always been a wallflower, even when she was surrounded by friends or family who spoke to her there had always been a part that lingered in the shadows. she preferred it this way, safe and able to observe at the edge of the space. it was safe there, quieter. for someone who wasn't a social butterfly unless she needed to act like one, wasn't happy to be at events like this, it was quite substantial that she would happily endure it with alistair at her side. he changed her, he saw her in a way nobody other than her siblings ever had before. and he found her in the place she'd often gotten overlooked. they didn't meet on her ship, or in a tavern where she came to life, they met at court where she remained at the edge of the room. " maybe not anymore. " she agrees. her siblings were used to her disappearing, they wouldn't look for her because they knew she was fine. it wasn't a lack of care but an understanding of who she was. but alistair, he may know her but he would still notice anything she did. and when they kissed it felt like sealing her fate in a way she never expected to want before. the taste of him lingered on her lips, a promise and a challenge all at once. alistair was something entirely new to her, someone who didn't fit into her life but carved out a space for himself that none other could ever fit. she couldn't get enough of him either, so when he deepened the kiss she was happy to let him, the flavor of his lips bursting in her mouth and making her want more. she wouldn't have pulled away, but the distant sound of music reminds her that they are still at the festival. his words send a thrill down her spine, and she feels herself clinging to him at this point. " only if you promise to always catch me. " because stars, she was already falling so hard.
he had been careful when inquiring of her family as a whole, and as he expected nerina did not reveal much. it had taken a few more encounters and flirtatious remarks, subtly watching her reaction when he spoke of her siblings, that he did begin putting the pieces together, combined with what cedrian had mentioned to him in passing. alistair long suspected that these secrets that remained hidden behind her gaze were tied to that of her siblings she would not reveal. even if she wished to share with alistair ( a part of him hoping nerina would so that he understand her better ), she would not, perhaps out of protecting her elder sister. it made the him wish to uncover all of it, not as commander but as a man who had caught foreign feelings for this captivating woman. like her elder sister, nerina too had a habit of keeping her walls up, and all that he had learned barely scratched the surface of the sea captain. "i would only ask that you return that privilege and allow the same opportunity for the woman who refuses to leave my mind." he was certain this young lady of summer had casted some sort of a spell on him, one he was happily lulled into. try as he might, he would never quite be able pin point when this shift happened, when he went from wishing to know summer's secrets to knowing all that he could of her. that all the banter and flirting exchanges would have the commander entirely ensnared by her. how each morning he awoke, it was with the thought that he would see her, be able to charm her, make her laugh and occasional moments when she revealed how she felt about him, he could slip further into her heart. it was thrilling and frightening all the same that another could cement herself within him. alistair never chased love, but had always wanted it, despite his habits of flings, he had wanted his other half that so many around him we're blessed to have. the more time he spent with her, the more he was beginning to wonder if this wild summer lady was the one he'd been searching for unknowingly? "i do not mind sinking, darling, so long as you will do so with me." this not meant in a negative light but rather that he'd drown in her without hesitation, if he hadn't already.
the sound of her melodic laughter fills the space between them, whatever little remained as he held her to so close, one might truly wonder what he intended. "i doubt that to be true." he didn't know what went on in the dragomir household other than what they knew of late high lord of summer. still, it wasn't a far off thought that the dragomirs didn't have the childhood the asters did. the brief moments she gave him a window in her gaze, he searched, studying her for several moments in silence as he saw too many emotions flicker across her gaze but gone before he could fully dissect them. he stores this thought for another time, when he wasn't fighting off his desires to kiss her, but one he didn't resist when she did not move way. ones encouraged as she continued to trace patters on his chest, gazing at him with the desire that was reflected in his own gaze. he nearly groans when she melts into his kiss, a hand stroking the cheek he cupped and the other in an iron like grip around her frame as waves of pleasure danced across his skin. the taste of her filled her senses and he deepened the kiss, tasting every inch of her delectable mouth when she did not resist and instead yielded to him. stars, it felt as if his entire body was set aflame, embers streaking through his veins as their lips moved in tune. gods, he didn't wish to stop, could not stop, and it seemed like she didn't wish to either. when they do break, to catch their breath, his lips linger near hers, keep her close, "does that answer your question?" a low raspy rumble of words as his fingers tightened around her waist. "will you have me, nerina?"

" i'm not certain anything i say will change your mind. " she says like a stubborn child, angry that she's been caught. really, the issue is deeper rooted than that. nerina always thought a love like this was something she could live without. her crew was enough, and her siblings were slowly becoming more. it wasn't as if nerina wasn't close to anyone, as if she didn't allow people to see her more raw and vulnerable sides. she didn't need to be in love for that. it was also safer her way, to keep her distance, flirt and tease but never stick around for long. but then alistair ruined all that, placed her in a state she couldn't quite describe. she was not in love with him, but she was falling quite hard. whatever started between them had shifted, and she couldn't really deny it any longer.it was almost painfully ironic that it likely started due to alina and her relationship withcedrian, and now both dragomir ladies were tangled up with a day court lord and his commander. the fates always did seem to find cruel ways of twisting things, but this was almost laughable. the sisters were cautious, didn't trust easily, and now they had found themselves stuck on two men that were almost their opposites. " perhaps too much. " admits she, unable to articulate how nerina was too scared to let him in. it wasn't so much a worry of him using her information against her at this point, but a fear of walking the road that she'd left buried when she sailed off that very first time. alina's question makes nerina smirk. " insufferably cocky. " begins she, a mischevious glint slipping into her expression. " and he's so charming, almost to an infuriating level. but he also has this way of looking at me as if i'm the only one in the room, the only person worth paying any mind to. " it was the type of disarming behavior that had her in such a tailspin yet. " but he's also got the steady patience to himself, persistent but never too pushy. i don't think he is toying with me but it's hard to accept that. he scares me for what he makes me feel. " she admits to her elder sister.
nerina rolls her eyes, obviously so. " my apologies, high lady dragomir. " playful sarcasm drips from every word, and she knows that alina wasn't truly bothered by it. " look at what actually being allowed to enjoy each other's company would do. " she says, not a jab at alina at the slightest. it's one of the first times she's actually mentioned their past, of their horrid father and his controlling ways. " what do you think will happen, lina ? " she means it seriously too, wants an answer. she tries not to push her older sister much, but nerina wants to understand what has been holding the summer lady back this much. just as alina picked apart nerina's false thinking, she would do the same to the other. ner taps her fingers on her thigh as she waits for the fae taking their order to leave, glancing about the room before returning her gaze to alina. " sometimes we do that when we think there might be challenges we can't overcome, but you never know until you actually try. " she might be stubborn on it, a hopeless romantic, but she felt her sister was being stubborn as well and not practical. ner knew she needed to push, even if that would yield mixed results with her sister. " of course they would be, i'd have how many nieces and nephews to spoil ? " nerina could only see more members of their family as a good thing, and she'd likely scold any of their siblings who felt otherwise. " you can both winnow, don't speak as if you 'd be parted for years on end and unable to communicate. " she says with a dismissive wave of her hand. though her eyes narrow at the suggestion, and nerina knows she could potentially do the job well. " i will always be here to help jules. " though whether or not their sister stayed in the position long was beyond nerina. the younger one always seemed to go where life took her. ner didn't judge her for it, she did the same exact thing. " and i know several will do anything to help make it so. " she wasn't alone in her desire to see alina happy. " i know you will always be safe, alina, it's your heart i worry for and that is in a precarious place at present. " but she sighs, and looks out the window before she can tack on, " i know you aren't unhappy, but you deserve the type happiness he offers you to be a constant. "
"i would have believed you, if you didn't deliver those words in that manner." an arched brow at her sister's insistence is displayed, in this moment she very much resembled a child that the elder would have laughed in amusement under different circumstances. in true form, it seemed her sister had worked ahead and did exactly so, testing and toying with the day commander ; after all, one could never be too careful. she was beyond relieved that ner took the time to ensure that whoever she gave her heart to was one who was worthy of it, as it was always a fear she held that the wrong sort of people would peruse and attract her siblings and they would be none the wiser. with nerina, that fear wasn't strong, it eased as she spoke freely of the commander, but the other younger ones? most certainly it was prominent. in truth, alina herself was as surprised that they had become entirely enamored with a pair of best friends. the fates were strange, twisted even, in more ways than one, and lately the had never ceased to surprise the high lady - both in unfavorable and favorable ways. "i expect no less from the high lady's sister." the way the other's chocolate gaze twinkled as she proudly stated the fact, it seemed it had the desired effect on the commander and his affections for alina's sister. in an effort to know the man her sister was so besotted with, the elder femme inquired, "what is he like?" genuine curiosity was heard in her tone, but it was a nice distraction from her own thoughts of the commander's high lord. alina nods, "oh, we are beyond clever. but, yes, i suppose we are far too accustomed to the latter." she could certainly say the being under the thumb of a tyrant, monster father had certainly made them vigilant, cautious, perhaps far more than should be normal for anyone.
"good gods, i was not certain you were capable of eliciting such an un-ladylike sound." she stared at the younger dragomir for several seconds longer, "ah, it seems she's become quite the expert in dissecting her elder sister." nerina wasn't wrong, there was much she withheld still, from ner and even daxton, perhaps when they were under better circumstances she could share the corners of her mind she kept locked from them - ones she knew her siblings deserved to know. "it is a matter of not allowing anything of me to affect all of you negatively - anymore than it already has." alina leaves it at that, not something she wished to get into, not yet anyway, not when her younger sister seemed to pour her heart before her elder sister and the high lady did not want it to end. it seemed the other turned her focus back on alina, but she pauses for a beat, ringing for a staff member for breakfast that they'd been delaying, and once the fae left with her instructions, alina returned her attention to ner. "it's not about denying, ner, it's about accepting what can and cannot be." try as alina might, for a woman skilled with words, she couldn't articulate her thoughts or her feelings concerning cedrian. she was forever stuck between a wall and a rock, between her desires and her duty - that the two could never mix or run parallel. it is highly possible cedrian felt something for her, past carnal desires, deep down she was aware he does, his gazes spoke volumes but alina played ignorance because she did not know how to proceed. "they do and his children would be accepted without a doubt." they were ced's life, and that went without question they were as important to alina, even if she was uncertain of maternal capabilities. "if all that was true, how do you expect him to be content in the long with a high lady who cannot leave her court for extended periods of time?" ced would not ask her to leave hers, and nor she of him. she also disliked in this moment that her sister seemed to be the voice of reason, though it made alina rather proud. "perhaps you should have been our court's diplomat." alina knew deep down, there were many avenues, but she feared a many outcomes when they returned to their reality, and the most prominent one that he'd prefer or find another much closer to his court. it also felt as awful to assume that of cedrian, when everything she had known of him proved to be the exact opposite. he may have been a womanizer, but he offered devotion like no other. it was as wondrous to see ner's optimism, "there are many." she finally says agreeing to the other. alina held her younger sister's gaze, a warmth in her chest intensifying at the other's sentiments, "i promise you, you have nothing worry of when it's about me. if you offers you some peace, then know that i am...quite happy." for several reasons, of the time she was getting with all of them, of her heaven with ced, it outweigh all that they faced currently in this strange court.

nerina laughs, and she shakes her head at her little sister. " are you ? and here i feel you are the sweetest of us all. " she teases, reaching up and pinching her sister's cheek just before she manages to pull back. they're all capable of darkness, their father ensured it, but she always looked at julissa like the best of them all, the least able to fall to darkness and live in the light instead. " it is, even if it makes me homesick even more. " it still helped with her other pains, stressors and annoyances.
Julissa's eyes narrow, a mocking twist in her features as she shakes her head at her sister, all in good teasing that was. "that's only for the ball room sweetest sister of mine, out here, i'm more of a biter," she snaps her teeth as she leans into her sisters space but she retrieves just as fast, she has learned her lesson before in the same mannerism, for it was not the first time they found themselves in a similar interaction, nor it would be the last. "is the closes thing to home, isn't it?" her features soften once more as she glances over into the distance as if she could see the shores of summer.

nerina's feet felt a slight chill from the sand, but it was nothing that bothered her. if anything, it made her remember wild nights spent in the winter court on one of her many adventures. the summer lady could handle colder temperatures without much fuss, at least for a bit. " if only the seas were familiar, then i would truly find peace. " admits she. her heart seems to only long for adriata more when she finds the shoreline, but nerina still feels better here than in the bed she'd been assigned even if a generous size. her ears perk at the question, and she offers a simple shrug to cetus. " i am uncertain, but it hardly seems out of character for a power hungry and now power filled young fae. " give a boy a crown, ego will surge and darkness overrides upbringing.
IT WAS better than crowds, that was certain. He would have preferred total solitude, but alas, not everyone can always get what they want. He just tilted his head to the side & smiled - the eeriness of it unchanged by the centuries of forced interactions.
"It's certainly the right place to clear you head." he commented, eyes fixed upon the vastness of the ocean, a horizon so distant it was barely a dot.
he wondered what she had to say. no one came to the beach if they were truly unbothered.
"& what do your thoughts say of the recent events?"
