Director: Michael Spierig, Peter Spierig, The Spierig Brothers
Rating: R
One of the most original time-travel thrillers since 12 Monkeys. A brilliant subversion of the Time Paradox trope, with enough plot twists to keep you entertained until well after the movie is finished. Predestination is an amazing movie with great performances from Ethan Hawke and Sarah Snook. It’s a movie that will feel like Inception, when it comes to messing with your mind and barely anyone has heard of it. It is highly underrated and unknown, sadly.
4. Train to Busan (2016)
Genre: Action, Adventure, Drama, Horror, Science Fiction, Thriller
Actor: Ahn So-hee, An So-hee, Baek Seung-hwan, Cha Chung-hwa, Chang-hwan Kim, Choi Gwi-hwa, Choi Woo-shik, Choi Woo-sung, Dong-seok Ma, Eui-sung Kim, Gong Yoo, Han Ji-eun, Han Sung-soo, Jang Hyuk-jin, Jeong Seok-yong, Jung Seok-yong, Jung Young-ki, Jung Yu-mi, Kim Chang-hwan, Kim Eui-sung, Kim Jae-rok, Kim Joo-heon, Kim Ju-hun, Kim Keum-soon, Kim Soo-ahn, Kim Soo-an, Kim Su-an, Kim Won-Jin, Lee Joo-sil, Lee Joong-ok, Ma Dong-seok, Park Myung-shin, Sang-ho Yeon, Seok-yong Jeong, Shim Eun-kyung, Sohee, Soo-an Kim, Soo-jung Ye, Terri Doty, Woo Do-im, Woo-sik Choi, Ye Soo-jung, Yeon Sang-ho, Yoo Gong, Yu-mi Jeong, Yu-mi Jung

A zombie virus breaks out and catches up with a father as he is taking his daughter from Seoul to Busan, South Korea’s second-largest city. Watch them trying to survive to reach their destination, a purported safe zone.
The acting is spot-on; the set pieces are particularly well choreographed. You’ll care about the characters. You’ll feel for the father as he struggles to keep his humanity in the bleakest of scenarios.
It’s a refreshingly thrilling disaster movie, a perfect specimen of the genre.
3. Serenity (2005)
Genre: Action, Adventure, Science Fiction, Thriller
Actor: Adam Baldwin, Alan Tudyk, Carrie ‘CeCe’ Cline, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Colin Patrick Lynch, David Krumholtz, Demetra Raven, Dennis Keiffer, Elaine Mani Lee, Erik Weiner, Gina Torres, Glenn Howerton, Hunter Ansley Wryn, Jessica Huang, Jewel Staite, Linda Wang, Logan O’Brien, Marcus Young, Mark Winn, Marley McClean, Matt McColm, Michael Hitchcock, Morena Baccarin, Nathan Fillion, Nectar Rose, Neil Patrick Harris, Peter James Smith, Rafael Feldman, Rick Williamson, Ron Glass, Ryan Tasz, Sarah Paulson, Sean Maher, Summer Glau, Tamara Taylor, Terrell Tilford, Terrence Hardy Jr., Tristan Jarred, Weston Nathanson, Yan Feldman
Director: Joss Whedon
Rating: PG-13

Serenity is a futuristic sci-fi film that serves as a feature-length continuation of the story-line from the TV program Firefly (2002–2003). The story revolves around the captain (Nathan Fillion) and crew of the titular space vessel that operate as space outlaws, running cargo and smuggling missions throughout the galaxy. They take on a mysterious young psychic girl and her brother, the girl carrying secrets detrimental to the intergalactic government, and soon find themselves being hunted by a nefarious assassin (Chiwetel Ejiofor). The first feature-length film from Joss Whedon (The Avengers), Serenity is a lively and enjoyable adventure, replete with large-scale action sequences, strong characterizations and just the right touch of wry humor. An enjoyable viewing experience that stands alone without demanding that you have familiarity with the original program beforehand.
2. Sorry to Bother You (2018)
Genre: Comedy, Fantasy, Science Fiction
Actor: Armie Hammer, Danny Glover, David Cross, Ed Moy, Forest Whitaker, James D. Weston II, Jermaine Fowler, John Ozuna, Kate Berlant, Lakeith Stanfield, Lily James, Marcella Bragio, Michael X. Sommers, Molly Brady, Omari Hardwick, Patton Oswalt, Robert Longstreet, Rosario Dawson, Steven Yeun, Teresa Navarro, Terry Crews, Tessa Thompson, Tom Woodruff Jr., Tony Toste, W. Kamau Bell
Director: Boots Riley
In the year of the Netflix TV Show Maniac, another absurdist title stole critics’ hearts. Sorry to Bother You is a movie set in an alternate reality, where capitalism and greed are accentuated. Lakeith Stanfield (Atlanta) is a guy called Cassius who struggles to pay his bills. However, when at a tele-marketing job an old-timer tells him to use a “white voice”, he starts moving up the ranks of his bizarre society. A really smart movie that will be mostly enjoyed by those who watch it for its entertaining value, and not so much for its commentary. It is like a Black Mirror episode stretched into a movie.
1. Ex Machina (2015)
Genre: Drama, Science Fiction
Actor: Alex Garland, Alicia Vikander, Chelsea Li, Claire Selby, Corey Johnson, Domhnall Gleeson, Elina Alminas, Gana Bayarsaikhan, Oscar Isaac, Sonoya Mizuno, Symara A. Templeman, Symara Templeman, Tiffany Pisani
Director: Alex Garland
Rating: R

Ex Machina is the directorial debut of Alex Garland, the writer of 28 Days Later (and 28 Weeks Later). It tells the story of Caleb (Domhnall Gleeson from About Time), an IT developer who is invited by a billionaire CEO to participate in a groundbreaking experiment — administering a Turing test to a humanoid robot called Ava (Alicia Vikander). Meeting the robot with feelings of superiority at first, questions of trust and ethics soon collide with the protagonist’s personal views. While this dazzling film does not rely on them, the visual effects and the overall look-feel of Ex Machina are absolutely stunning and were rightly picked for an Academy Award. They make Ex Machina feel just as casually futuristic as the equally stylish Her and, like Joaquin Phoenix, Gleeson aka Caleb must confront the feelings he develops towards a machine, despite his full awareness that ‘she’ is just that. This is possibly as close to Kubrick as anyone got in the 21st century. Ex Machina is clever, thrilling, and packed with engaging ideas.

plEASE keep talking about cutie pie
LMAO okay then I'm gonna say what might be my most controversial~~ opinion about Cutie Pie and that's that I didn't find Kuea THAT childish, oop
Like, okay listen, Kuea is immature I won't say he's not, he's not great at communication, he can be a bit impulsive but these aren't inherently child like traits they're character flaws.
So like, there's a trope called Born Sexy Yesterday I feel is a bit relevant here. Watch the essay I don't agree with every example it gives (Chobits doesn't fit the trope at all imo) but it breaks down this particular trope of a character - typically a female char - who is essentially super power and perfect but with the mind of a child. She's also sexy. Always. These chars as typically naïve, their mannerisms are whimsical, naïve, innocent, inexperience with the world (especially romantic relationships), they typically need the male lead to explain things to them, watch out for them, etc. The entire concept is a relationship trope that fetishizes the concept of virginity and innocence. These characters don't have a lot of traits outside of their innocence, and overall childlike wonderment for the world and needs the male lead to "teach" them about the world.
A recent Kdrama example of this is Legend of the Blue Sea, a kdrama that came out in 2016 (I said before Cutie Pie is heavily influenced by kdramas, and honestly Domandi shows in general seem heavily influenced by kdramas) used this trope a bit as well. There's a specific scene in the earlier episodes where the mermaid character, lost, alone, can't communicate with the male lead (her love interest) or other people, gets lost in a mall and ends up in the section for lost children. This scene stuck with me b/c I find it so annoying lol like the show couldn't have emphasized she's childlike any harder than putting her in the literal children's lost and found section of the mall, and stealing a big lollipop from another child. And the male lead is charmed by all of this!
So in comparison to all of that~~ no I don't find Kuea especially child like. He's not at all like Shim Cheong (Legend of the Blue Sea), Ji Eun-tak (Guardian), LeeLoo (Fifth Element), or Madison (Splash) just to name a few of these characters.
Being immature=/=child like, I accounted Kuea's immaturity to him being 21, same with his being impulsive. But unlike say, LeeLoo, Kuea has motivations of his own. He has character flaws, but also character strengths, he's a fully realized character and Lian isn't like, into~~ the fact that Kuea doesn't know how to cook. It's not a turn on for him like it is for Dallas to be able to "teach" LeeLoo about the world.
Idk like I read a take once that called Kuea a "child bride" and like, no? No that's not what happened in canon at all. That's such cold ass takeout I wanna send it back like that is just as bad as ppl saying Ariel gave up her legs/body for a man. That's not what happens in the text of the story. Also please learn what the term "child bride" means I beg.
So yeah, I didn't find Kuea, upon rewatch, that child like - childish? hm, at times I guess, but Yi was also really childish at times too and also couldn't cook worth a damn but I never saw anyone calling him a child bride lol - and that's my hot take on the matter.

“After all this time you still love me”
With Nicky and Sunny?
Hi there, Ari! I really hope you like this a lot!
One day in the Harper-Jackson household, Nicky saw Sunny in the kitchen, dancing to their wedding dance song gleefully and she looked so glowing in the sunlight of their kitchen window with her vibrant ginger hair basking in the sunlight and her bright blue eyes were gleaming with happiness in the kitchen light. Nicky softly smiled at the sight of Sunny being so beautiful in the early morning of dawn.
Nicky softly walked behind Sunny's back and takes Sunny's hand into his own hand and softly hums their wedding dance song to each other and softly whispered to Sunny's ear "After all this time for the past four years, you still love me for every part of me on the good and the bad for the rest of our lives together with our twins Eric and Ariel."
Sunny softly giggles over Nicky's words and twirled around the room to see Nicky with his dark brown hair twinkling in the sunlight, his vibrant forest green eyes shimming with happiness with his dimples showing off his face when he looks at her like that and said to Nicky happily "I've loved you four summers, and I want you more." Before she kissed Nicky's lips so happily and Nicky kissed Sunny back with a cheerful smile on his face holding tight to her waist.

mermaid siren nikita, who is your favorite mermaid character ever?
I can't believe you.... used my government name like that....
This is difficult for me, because my honest to God impulse is to say Ariel. Because, as I'm sure will come as no surprise to you, Ariel is my heart's Disney Princess. Belle is like... the princess I think is best-constructed... Ariel is who I identify with most. She just wants to look hot and travel the world and get good dick. And who would relate to that more than I??? Nobody!!!! Also, Prince Eric was a part of my sexual awakening, and frankly I think that's really a testament to her greatness.
If I'm being super real with you, though.... Madison from Splash is probably my true favorite. I watched Splash when I was far too young to watch Splash. Why? Because my mother was relatively young (24) when she birthed me, and she was a stay at home mom for much of my super young life (I mean, she worked part time once I started school for serious but when I was home she was home until I hit like, middle school age) and when Splash was on TV she wanted to watch Splash, dammit!!! And didn't she DESERVE to watch Splash??? So I watched Splash, admired Daryl Hannah's beauty in that film a lot, and got an idea that.... there might be a reason why Madison wanted a human lower half....
Truly, a part of me has wanted hair long enough to cover my tits ever since I watched Splash. But alas, I have much larger tits than Madison. It would honestly take a lot of hair growth for me to get there.
I just love her like... free sexuality, and curiosity, and kind of standard issue 80s Manic Pixie Dream Girl vibe without being annoying? Because she is a mermaid. If anyone has a right to Manic Pixie, it's here!!!
I would also add a third mermaid: Shim Cheong / Se-hwa from Legend of the Blue Sea. What is this, you ask? Why, it's a K-Drama that you, yes YOU loisfreakinglane, connoisseur of mermaids, should watch immediately! And yes, it is in fact available on hulu dot com with English subtitles!
The conceit of The Legend of The Blue Sea is that there's this mermaid who becomes fascinated with this shallow con man, and she basically becomes obsessed with him and leaves the ocean to pursue true love. He's like "lmao, she's insane" because she fully walks around on Earth having no idea how to act like a human being... Like I remember her stealing food and shit.... But she's very charming and super beautiful, so he takes her under his wing and like... protects her and gradually becomes A BETTER MAN FOR HER.
And yes!!! There's more!!! Both of them are haunted by these dreams... Dreams that seem like memories... Because they are actually reincarnated lovers from the Joseon era!!! She was a mermaid in the past and they were star-crossed and in love and torn apart by cruel circumstances!!! Bitch I wept BITCH TEARS.
I love a fragile girly girl who nevertheless has an iron will, and she is this. And she's also super horny and constantly initially these romantic moments with him while he's like JESUS WOMAN. Which I also love. Just watch this opening title sequence and understand why they had my girlhood in a CHOKEHOLD circa 2016-2017.

Moorim School
Gênero: Fantasia/ Escolar
Ano: 2016
Número de episódios: 16
Emissora: KBS
Elenco: Lee Hyun Woo, Lee Hong Bin, Seo Ye Ji, Jung Yoo Jin, Shin Hyun Joon, Shin Sung Woo, Jang Gwang, Jung Hee-Tae, Kan Mi-Youn, Daniel Lindemman, Samuel Okyere, Alexander, Han Geun Sub, Park Sin Woo, POP, Z.Hera, Shannon, Han Do Woo, Lee Mon Sik, Hong Ji Min, Lee Beom Soo, Hwang In Young.
OST’s favoritas:
VIXX – Alive
Hani – Fire
하성 (HaSeong) – RUN
Se vocês querem descobrir como chegar na escola Moorim e toda a magia e mistério que a cerca corram para o Viki ou Kingdom fansubs.

Happy New Year! Books are the Best!
In 2018 I went to Japan, filled some bookshelves, and read more than the usual amount of literary biographies. In Japan, we navigated the bookstore in which Haruki Murakimi apparently bought his first fountain pen. While there, I bought copies of two of my favourite Japanese books: Kitchen by Banana Yoshimoto, and Book 1 (of 6) of 1Q84.
Japanese books are very beautiful, and all very uniform. There were hundreds of book protectors on sale in every bookshop and stationery shop (we went to a lot of those – the Iroshizuku ink was soooo cheap!), I had to remind myself that books in the UK don’t fit into them to stop myself from bringing them all home. Now that I have at least one Banana Yoshimoto book in Japanese, there’s more incentive than ever to try and learn the language. I’ve been thinking a lot this year about how much is lost or gained in translation and what that does to a book depending on the language you read. This Little Art by Kate Briggs is a novel-length essay on exactly this topic, and I read it not long after The Idiot in which the protagonist has a crisis about language and how words can lose their meaning. They fit together very well in my head – both asked and tried to provide answers to questions about translation, like why even do it at all if meaning is going to be lost? Having read Murakami’s most recent book, Killing Commendatore, I’m still not sure if the absence of Jay Rubin as translator is responsible for my disappointment with it, or if it was just a bad book, or if Haruki Murakami has never been that great and it was all Jay Rubin all along.
This Little Art, The Idiot, Shirley and Romantic Outlaws are probably my favourites from this year. Also Daphne du Maurier’s short story The Breakthrough, from Don’t Look Now. Sinister, terrifying, haunting, all words that fall short of describing the atmosphere of that one short story.
I read Shirley after reading Outsiders by Lyndall Gordon. I had tried to read it before and had never been able to get past the first chapter, but something about Outsiders made me want to try again. Reading Outsiders made me realise in a way that I hadn’t before that books written in the last couple of centuries aren’t as far removed from us as I had thought. Previously, when reading books from different time periods, I had become as detached as if I was reading fantasy; I forgot that the stories being told were often very firmly set in social, political and cultural climates that had once existed. It helped me to find ways to empathise with the narrators and the characters, and make them much more human and relatable. While reading Shirley, instead of feeling like the characters and situations were a million miles away, I forced myself to remember that Charlotte Brontë was writing about events that were important to the people in the time she was writing about. Her father witnessed Luddite uprisings. The setting of Shirley with its discussions of workers’ rights and its attacks on mills was as real for Charlotte and her father as Brexit and Trump are for us now.

The first time I tried to read Shirley, I struggled to get past the first three chapters. "This is not as good as Jane Eyre or Villette," I thought. And, of course, I was wrong. How did I come to change my mind and try again? It was because I read Outsiders by Lyndall Gordon. It was sometimes difficult to read; lots of what felt like fact-listing, and the events of the five lives studied are not always in chronological order, which would not be a problem if it was made clearer. This made it difficult to get through but did not affect my ability to be grateful for all the new information and the future reading list (I have a charity shop copy of Middlemarch now sitting on top of a book pile, and am searching for some Olive Schreiner). It also provided me with new reasons to persevere with Shirley. Though the Brontë sister included in this book is Emily, not Charlotte, it is impossible to talk about one without mentioning the other. Especially when Charlotte included a characters based on Emily in a novel: Shirley Keeldar and Caroline Helstone. To read someone's fictionalised perception of her sisters' characters, I thought, would be a very strange experience. And it is, it sometimes feels weirdly voyeuristic. In the future we are all in on the secret. A huge theme throughout Outsiders is the rights of women and how their role has changed over time; Shirley is referred to as an incredibly feminist book. And it is. Jane Eyre has nothing on it. Still feminist, but this is in-your-face "what are we supposed to do all day, cook and sew??" "…yes. I hate womenites." So I decided to read it again but placing it as contemporary, rather than viewing it as a relic of the past which I should accept that I can't always understand or relate to. Putting these new perspectives on it has really helped me to get into the book. This is a huge post. Shirley is great. (Also the first time Shirley was used as a female name!) #bookstagram #Shirley #charlottebrontë #outsiders #lyndallgordon #brontë #nowreading

Tonight we went to see Chris Riddell speaking with Dr Sarah McConnell at Nottingham Trent University. There were live illustrations, and Shauna Shim did dramatic readings from The Tales of Beedle The Bard. I've been reading The Edge Chronicles since I picked up a copy of Beyond The Deepwoods AT THE LIBRARY (libraries, man!), aged 11, and thought it had the best front cover I had ever seen. Now that I'm older, if Chris Riddell has illustrated something I assume it's good and read it. Thank-you @chris_riddell for staying super late after your talk to speak to everyone and sign everything! @ntucreated #nottinghamtrent #illustration #theedgechronicles #beyondthedeepwoods

This year I would like to write more about the books I am reading – this blog has been very neglected for the past couple of years! I’ve been occasionally taking part in the Are You Book Enough bookbinding challenge on instagram again. This time last year I was working on the January 2018 theme Darkness. I wrote and illustrated a story called The Black Ribbon. It was inspired by the Tatiana de Rosnay biography of Daphne du Maurier, in which de Rosnay refers to Daphne du Maurier’s depressive episodes as her “black ribbon.” It’s also a tribute to Edward Gorey. I thought his style of illustration would be best suited to the story I was telling, so I had a go at reproducing his style.

Another of the books I made this year was a book in a box for the theme Listen. I chose to bind a book of Kate Bush’s Fifty Words For Snow from her song and album of the same name.

This is my contribution to the August #AreYouBookEnough bookbinding challenge, #listen . I love to listen to music, and Kate Bush is one of my favourites. Why choose Fifty Words For Snow when I could choose any of her songs? Why does it fit the theme best? The song is a list. It's Stephen Fry reciting fifty words for snow – some made up by Kate Bush, some real. She wanted him to be the narrator because people believe the words he says, he is intelligent and speaks with a quiet authority. Hearing him speak her fictional words for snow makes them sound real. Snow itself deadens sound but has sounds of its own; one of the words is "creaky-creaky." I hope whoever looks at my book can hear the snow behind the words. This is the first time I've made this kind of box, and my measurements are a bit off (the lid is loose!) but overall I'm pleased and know what to do better next time! The paper is very fibrous, I wanted something that looked and felt like snow. Both the front cover of the book and the lid of the box are padded. The ink I used to write the fifty words is a mixture of two different inks – white calligraphy ink and a Grey Plum Kwiz ink. I'm going to have to find a way to photograph it properly because it is almost pearlescent! If you hold the paper a certain way it disappears. Hold it to the light and it looks like it is glowing. I'll try and get some video footage of it. #AreYouBookEnough #bookart #handmade #katebush #fiftywordsforsnow #50wordsforsnow #listen #books #snow #music

A rare coin from the Bar Kokhba revolt was discovered in the Qibya cave, 30 km northwest of Ramallah, the Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories announced Thursday. The coin is believed to have been minted between the third and fourth year of the Bar Kokhba revolt (136-134 CE).
One side of the coin shows a palm tree with seven fronds and two clusters of fruit, as well as the inscription “Shim[on].” The other side portrays vine leaves with three lobes and the inscription, “To the freedom of Jerusalem.”
Alongside the coin, the archeologists also found pottery fragments and glass vessels that can be dated to the same period. The coin was found during a study conducted by the Civil Administration of Judea and Samaria’s archeology unit, Bar- Ilan University and the University of Ariel during the “Southern Samaria Survey.” The survey is a project, brought to life in 2014, during which different teams of archeologists cooperate in surveying areas to unearth historical findings that have been left behind at various sites. “We estimate that there are many archeological artifacts that have not yet been discovered in the West Bank,” said Hanania Hezmi, the director of the Civil Administration’s archeology unit. “We are cooperating with all possible authorities in order to uncover important relics of Jewish history in the area.” Experts estimated that the items were brought to the cave by Jewish refugees who lived in the area until 135 BCE. During the Bar Kokhba revolt, they were forced to leave their homes and hide in the cave. The documentation of the artifacts found in the Qibya cave was carried out in cooperation with the Center for Cave Research at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Send me “Restrained” + a number for a starter in which one or both of our characters are:
12. Stuck in the back of a police car
"I’m sure Quinn’s gonna find this absolutely hilarious.” Words were spoken through gritted teeth while shimming around while pulling at his cuffs, to face Ariel who was sitting in the back of the car with him. “I can already hear the lecture we’re both gonna get. This guy being a friend of him’s the only reason I haven’t ripped him a new one. You know if he’s Quinn’s partner or just a guy on the force?” Human rules and laws never fully applied to Drevyn, anyway. “What’re they even gonna do to us, anyway? Slap us on the back of the hand and let us off with a warning?”

moorim school fangirl time~
im gonna talk about the characters like i normally do...? if i can remember all their names... oh wait there’s google HA nvm
First off, I need to say that Lee Hyunwoo is literally my baby, and I watched him in To The Beautiful You, which was my first kdrama, so I have a lot of love for him in my heart.
(also holla at Hongbin)
Yoon Si Woo- (more like Lee Hyunwoo like i just... i love him so much) what can i even say? he went from being someone who couldn’t trust anyone to someone who did. that was lame bUT HONESTLY?? how do i even explain it? i cant. all i know is that he seriously did so much for his friends, because he wanted to protect his loved ones, and ??? how sweet is that? the sweetest lil muffin. I want Lee Hyunwoo to continue playing good-hearted characters please. I loved him in TTBY and I loved him in this... i just love lee hyunwoo...
Wang Chi Ang- :( my beautiful momma’s boy :( he went through a lot of angst and it was just so frustrating to see the way he reacted. literally like siwoo was there for him, he was always there, from the start, but chi ang was so caught up in trying to prove that he’s good enough for his “ariel” that he would destroy everything in his path like.... it’s not worth it.
Shim Soon Doek- i loved her facial expressions, she was honestly so beautiful whenever she smiled :’) i loved her quirky expressions and everything, so so beautiful. (I think she also played in Mask? i recognized her but idk if it’s actually her or another person.) aside from that, i wanted to hug her when she thought everything was because of her. im grateful that siwoo told her that it wasn’t her fault, because IT WASNT. she worked her butt off to go to this school, including getting various part time jobs like that chicken place (and going BACK there even when her boss accused her of stealing omg). the fact that her father didn’t want her to go to the school? and didn’t know about it for the longest time? Soon Doek is so brave, so so brave and so hard-working. i aspire to be like her in the future.
Hwang Seon Ah- she’s beauty, she’s grace, she’ll kick you in the face. i admire her strength. i also like how she was a fangirl for a while and then realized that the person who she fangirled over was actually her brother xD but by then, they’d become somewhat friends, which is always nice to see.
Yeop Jong- i guess it’s understandable the way he acts towards everyone due to the pressure he got from his family i guess?, but it was just really frustrating to see. not everything has to be a competition. i really wish there was more of a background story to why yeopjong was like this (for all the minor characters sigh) because i feel like his part of the drama was left unresolved? throughout the drama, he didn’t care much about any of his classmates, but i wonder what he thought of them at the end of the drama. bc all of a sudden i see him signing his autobiography at the end or w/e like ok. (side note: BRUH THIS GUY WAS IN U-KISS?)
Nadet - i loved him so much in this, i really enjoyed the fact that he had drones and stuff, it seemed really fricking cool. and he was really smart too YES
uhhh im gonna cut this short. i think the fact that they were all over the cheon ui joo was interesting, but i was somewhat disappointed with the ending. im glad everything turned out all right though, and im super happy that chi ang turned out to be good after all (they always do~). im also happy that chi ang’s father chose him for once. maybe now they can rebuild their relationship in some way.
i didn’t expect to watch this until the end but i love hyunwoo and i was really excited to see him in another drama... also i saw a photoset a few days ago and i remembered this was one of the dramas i wanted to watch. it was good. i really liked the values that moorim school taught the students; i didn’t think that part was important in martial arts, but that’s probably because i don’t know anything about it. now i know it’s not just physical? there’s other aspects involved in it too. idk if i’d watch it again though. it was nice the first time around, but i don’t rewatch dramas anymore.
#personal#reviews#moorim school#dramas#i feel like this post is unnecessary#but im just writing it for myself#i tried to rewatch she was pretty but i couldn't finish the last few episodes#i feel like im starting to lose interest in everything#my ability to not care has reached new levels and i don't like it

Intact (Dean Winchester)
Pairing: Dean/Fem!Mermaid!Reader Words: 1500+ Warning(s): Drowning, slight nudity, self doubt A/N: I hope you enjoy. sorrry the ending seems a bit rushed, I finished this at like 1 am on monday when I have s c h o o l. rip me but i love writing at unreasonable times. Request: can you write one where you are a mermaid living with the boys (cas knows but keeps it a secret) and has to save Dean on a case by transforming? the reader is scared dean will hate her but confesses to loving her?
You look out of the back window of the impala with many mix emotions filling your being. The Winchester brothers and your were off on a case involving an angry spirit. The ghost wasn't was making you feel so conflicted, it was the fact the ghost was known for 'mysteriously' drowning people. You were a mermaid and the boys didn't know. Castiel knew of course but he kept it a secret for you, which you were grateful, but always insisted you'd tell them. You didn't worry much about Sam's reaction, you knew he would come around and treat you the same. You were scared about Dean's reaction. You were scared he would be disgusted at you.
You close your eyes, taking in a deep breath. As much as you wanted to avoid this hunt, you couldn't let the boys go in. If one of them were to drown, you didn't care if your secret was revealed, you'd save them. You were willing to sacrifice your secret to save them.
"Hey (Y/N)?" Sam's voice cut through your thoughts. "Are you okay?"
"Y-yeah... Just a bit nervous about the hunt." You admitted. At least you told most the truth.
"Nervous? You're never nervous for a hunt." Dean chuckled while glancing back at you with those apple green eyes throw the mirror.
"I'm just not too found of a drowning ghost is all. Large bodies of water freak me out."
"Well don't worry, I'll keep you safe." Dean winked, making you blush and go back to looking out of the window. You mentally sigh and rest your head against the window. Dean was something else in your heart, you loved him to bits; you love his flaws and all.
"Just get some rest, (Y/N)." Sam gave you a smile before turning back to the front. You decided to take his advice, maybe some rest will help calm your nerves.
You watched in fear alongside Sammy as Dean cautiously reached the edge of the lake, trying to talk sense into the woman haunting the small town. She died horribly, drowned by her mother in a fit of rage and jealousy, the poor girl wanted to move on but her feelings of rage kept her bound as a vengeful spirit. Dean and Sam wanted to try to get the poor girl to move on her own, no salt and burn. There is moment where she seemed ready to move on, whatever Dean was saying, she was seeming to take his words. Her spirit seemed to be like how she was before, her tan skin slightly pale and her rich brown eyes stared at the eldest Winchester innocently.
Then things switched, her spirit flashed to one with greenish grey skin, her hair seemed like a slimy dark green and her eyes were a sunken in grey.
"Dean!" Sam and you shouted, tears filled your glossy (e/c) orbs. The vengeful spirit raised her hand and with enough power, flung Dean into the deepest part of the lake.
"Sam burn her bones! I'll go and save Dean." You took in a deep breath and started stripping off your clothes, preparing to transform into your other form, only leaving on your bra. Right now, you didn't care if Sammy could see your rear end, you needed to save Dean.
"What the hell are you doing-?!"
"Just do it!" You take a running start while Sam was frozen in fear, trying to figure out what the hell you were doing. Before your toes could touch the shore line of the dark lake, you leaped into a dive position. You hit the water and felt your legs fuse together into your beautiful (color) tail. The gills on your neck formed right away, allowing you to breathe correctly, your fingers were connected with webbing and your eyes were adjusted to the water.
You use your strong tail to propel yourself to where Dean was thrown, searching frantically for the Winchester. You move some water plants from the bottom of the lake and spot Dean, barely keeping his eyes open as the ghost kept him pinned to the rocky bottom. You growled and you were about to use your tail to swat the ghost but she somehow burned away into nothing.
You wasted no time, you swam to Dean and hooked your arms underneath his, pulling his body close to yours before propelling straight up as fast as you could. You breached the surface with barely enough time for Dean to start coughing up water, his muscular arms wrap around you as you did the same.
"What the hell?" He croaked, his apple green eyes search around the lake. "How in the..." Then his eyes landed on your neck. His eyebrows furrowed as he stared at the gills, until your tail bumped into his legs, causing him to look down into the water. Dean looked back at your face with an unreadable look.
"Dean..." Your eyes tear up.
"Get us back to Sam." Was all he said, making you look away with shame. You or him didn't say anything as you helped get the both of you back to the shore, where Sam waited patiently. Once Dean was able to stand on his own, you let go of him. He walked out of the water and passed Sam; you weren't sure what he was planning.
"So... a mermaid huh?" Sam asked with a crooked smile as you pulled yourself closer to the shore, to the point where your stomach brushed against the floor.
"Yeah... Can you help lift me out of the water?"
"Yeah of course." He stepped into the water as you rolled yourself onto your back. The younger Winchester hooked an arm under your tail and one wrapped around your torso. "You know your tail is pretty slimy."
"I put fish oil on it once a week to keep the shine." You weakly chuckled but were still upset that Dean seemingly rejected your true self. A tear fell down your cheek as you looked away from the tall man.
"Don't worry, (Y/N). I'm sure he will come around eventually." Sam placed you back on the ground. "So how do you transform back?"
"I just need to get dried off but I'll be buck ass nude."
"Well then I'll get you a blanket from the car hold on-"
"Already got one!" You heard Dean shout from behind you. You turn yourself and watch Dean walk back with a plaid blanket in his arms. "Sammy can you give us a second?"
"Sure, sure!" Sam gave you a wink before he made his way to the Impala. Dean draped the soft blanket around your shoulders while sitting down next to you. Unexpectedly, he wrapped his arm around you, pulling you close to him.
"I'm sorry for reacting the way I did. I wasn't really sure what to say in the moment." He sincerely apologized.
"I'm sorry for not telling you, I just wasn't sure how you would react."
"Look, I don't care that you’re a mermaid, I actually find it kind of hot." His laugh vibrated through him. "You're still you, and I will still love you. With or without the fishtail or gills."
"Dean, I um... I love you too."
"Really? Always thought you liked Sammy more." He smiled at you, his arm tightened. You grinned back at him as you felt your body begin to shift back to usual. You wiggle your toes and check your hands and neck to make sure things were back. You lean your head against him, enjoying the sunset and momentary silence around the air.
"So... can I call you Ariel?"
"Way to ruin the moment."
"You shore you didn't like it?"
"Dean I swear to god-"
"You mean swear to cod?" You groan but laugh at his puns.
"Just- Let's get back to the Impala. I'd like to put my clothes back on." Dean helped you stand on your feet, tying the blanket to around your hips. You grab your clothes and put them back on, shimming your underwear and jeans on underneath the blanket.
"You ready?"
"Yep!" You untie the blank and place it on your shoulder as you intertwine your fingers with Deans. As you walked towards Sam, who was leaning against the black car, he had a knowing smile on his face. You looked towards Dean who looked to you, a smile on your slightly flushed face. He leaned down and placed a quick peck to your hairline, giving your hand a quick squeeze in the process.
"Love you, Squirrel." You smirked, knowing he didn't like the nickname.
"Yeah, love you too, Ariel."
