His performance as Cinderella in his school play is played for laughs, but the thing I really appreciate is that the comedy comes from how ill-fitting his personality is for the character, not his gender. The episode was funny, sure, but it was also surprisingly progressive for a children's anime from the 90's (then again, so was the rest of the show haha). Also he's the only Cinderella who gets sent to the ball by a talking can of mackerel.

Overall Saki is not a Cinderella character, but you did say we could submit them if they were Cinderella in an in-universe play, and that she was! In Season 2 Episode 23 "It's Cinderella-ish", her class puts on a production of Cinderella and she ends up getting cast as the titular role, which a lot of other characters think is crazy because she's this straight-faced, emotionally-repressed, exclusively-wears-black kinda girl. Also her best friend Tohru (the anime's protagonist) gets cast as an evil stepsister, and she's one of the sweetest people ever and has so much trouble being mean to Saki even fakely and vice versa. Of course, Saki has no problems being rude to the Prince Charming character in the play, played by Kyo, a guy who's sweet deep down (but only to Tohru and his adoptive father) but is other wise a hot head who's always getting into fights. So between Saki as Cinderella having a genuine love for her stepsister and a general animosity with the prince, in addition to the fact that when she goes to the ball, all she wants to do is eat, not mingle, she makes for a very interesting Cinderella.

so this shoujo series has a storyline where the class puts on a Cinderella play but instead of the heroine playing Cinderella, shenanigans happen that lead to the heroine's goth best friend, Saki Hanajima, aka Hana-chan, aka Demon Queen, playing the lead role. Hana-chan's Cinderella dresses in all black against the wishes of the play's director, does not give 2 shits about the prince, and is just a general menace to society. I know she's probably not gonna win but I just wanted to share her with all of you bc I love her and the Cinderella-ish arc is to this day some of the funniest shit I've seen in a manga

It took weeks to find a specialist who was able to reverse the effects, and now if his adrenaline spikes to a certain point, he turns back into that form.

Fruits Basket: Saki Hanajima’s relationship development

In the manga and anime, Saki has always struggled with keeping friendships, aside from Tohru and Uotani. Her childhood consisted of being constantly bullied and called a ‘witch’ by her peers. It is shown that Saki blames herself for the injury of a boy who attempted to set her on fire, by using her psychic waves. This implies she has a lot of negative feelings pent up about herself which prevented her from moving on. Her parents and grandparents were seriously concerned for her well-being by then.

Forwarding to her middle and high school years, she meets Uotani and Tohru, significantly improving her view on others as the two accepted her for who she is despite rumours. Megumi, Saki’s younger brother, notices this is a good thing and realises that Saki’s life is improving. It is shown that Megumi thought her sister was alone and prays for her to find friends, especially when relationships formed around her while she remained the same. This eventually happens and she even develops a sort of crush on Kyo’s adoptive father, Kazuma.

In Fruits Basket Another, Megumi mentions in the manga that ‘it did take quite some time’ for her to find a significant other, most likely because he was a foreigner. Saki is briefly referred to in Furubana and it seems she lives a happy live with her husband, son (Rio Mosca, ‘a boy who doesn’t fire psychic waves’) and those around her, showing a significant improvement in her relationships.

So a few things about Li:

-He may look all cute and cuddly (he really is an affectionate baby) but he’s also blunt. If he doesn’t like what your muse is doing, he will call them out on it. He’s a bit perceptive from having watched other people, observe certain behaviors, and has been taught what is acceptable; though he’s still not always able to act on what was taught to him. 

-Li is still a child in the eyes of the Dragons and Gods, thus why he sometimes acts like one. He is very curious so be prepared for him to ask questions, even ones that are rather risquè. 

-Having lived in the labs for most of his life, Li is still having to adjust to large crowds and open spaces. He tends to get nervous and will start to look for a place to hide. His powers also react to his emotions which is why he’s rather shy and sometimes afraid of them. 

-He does hear voices when he’s close to the sea, known as The Voices of the Deep. These voices tend to encourage Li to follow in mass destruction or whisper for him to come back and dive deep. All water dragons hear them, but its the sea dragons who can hear them clearly. These voices are kinda like the psychic waves that Saki Hanajima from Fruits Basket has to deal with, only for Li they are so loud and scare him that Melody had to teach him a song to help drown them out.

The Trip From Hell

@fxllfromgrxce @isolateddevil @faysohma Kyo didn't need to be psychic like his almost-step-mother to know this was going to be the trip from Hell. He could almost picture the blindly-in-love giggling on the car ride there, the disgustingly cute nicknames, and essentially, him being unintentionally forgotten and ignored on the trip.  Quite obviously, the trip wasn't Kyo's idea. It was anything but it. But after an unusually exciting Judo lesson, Shishou made it extremely clear the lesson was only so exciting so as to entice and sway Kyo's decision. "Saki and I are going to the lake house, you know," Shishou had said. When all Kyo said was 'mmm' and made a move to leave, he added, "We’d love it if you came too, Kyo. I always enjoy spending time with you, but you don't have to go if you don't want to.." Kyo felt like smashing one of the wooden boards against his face in frustration. Shishou never intentionally guilted Kyo into doing things, but he always did. He felt like Shishou would be disappointed in him if he didn't go and no beating could ever feel as bad as Shishou's disappointment. Instead of saying what was actually on his mind, he sighed, "All right, already! I'll come!"

So, the entire reason for coming along on this trip was to appease his Shishou, and yet, here he was with just him and Hana sitting in the car together without Shishou! "Now, Kyo, you can't be mad," Shishou announced, meaning Kyo would and could be mad. "How could I have remembered I had scheduled a visit with a friend? But don't worry, I would never cancel the trip after getting you all excited." (Yeah, right.) "So I've arranged for you and Saki to go together!" (This were said as if it were good news). 

During the long trek to the lake house, Kyo continuously took deep, hopefully calming inhales. Finally, he pulled out one earbud. "If you get tired, I can take over driving," he said, mostly to passive-aggressively remind her they were  both the same age and equally capable of driving. Ironically enough, sleeping with an old person didn't automatically make you old, too. His comment hardly mattered though, because soon they were pulling into the expansive driveway to the lake house. 'It might not be so bad,' he hesitantly assured himself. 'There are lots of trails to jog on, and Hana's vampire-ass probably can't go out in the sunlight to join anyway.' Through the harsh sunlight, Kyo squinted and cupped a hand over his eyes to make out a large shape occupying the driveway with them. "Wait, a second, Hanajima, stopstopstop..! Is that.." His unfinished sentence didn't have any reason to be finished. Right beside their car was the definitive shape of yet another car. He whipped around to face Saki, a judgmental and accusing look masking his face. "Who the hell did you invite up here?! Your whole damn family?! Why's there another car here?!"

Her Persona is Cinderella. Her story is about disguising herself as another person to gain acceptance.

Her persona is Cendrillon, the French name for Cinderella and the name of an opera based on the story, and it mirrors her arc in the game. When you boil her down to the essentials, she essentially made a wish that was granted by her....... fairy godtherapist to go from pauper (bland and talentless depressed Sumire) to princess (her dead sister Kasumi, bubbly, personable star gymnast). As far as she sees it, even, it's this transformation that helps her 'get the prince' (read: befriend the protagonist). Why should she win, though? Umm because she's my baby my angel my sweetie my cherub specialist character in fiction and most important girl in the universe. Out of love in your heart for me, tumblr user [REDACTED], vote for her.

GOD I LOVE HER SO MUCH ok ok ok everyone here's my autism. Major spoilers as you get closer to the end btw! - She has three personas, in order they go: Cendrion, Vanadis, Ella. The first and last are taken from Cinderella, with Cendrion being the german name for Cinderella, and of course Ella just being a shortened form of Cinderella. - She does gymnastics, although a lot of her phantom thief design is heavily based off of ballet as well! In particular the black swan mimicking the white swan, and while of course that's not cinderella, it does remind me of how Cinderella was treated in the beginnings of the story - Cinderella and her both have major sibling trauma! It's a huge point about her character. Major spoilers, but she pretends to be her older sister Kasumi for most of the game; the sad truth is that she's in fact the younger sister Sumire. She's pretending to be her older sister because she can't deal with the trauma of that day she ran out into traffic and her sister got hit instead of her. Unfortunately, she got her wish when her sister died saving her and her therapist brainwashed her into believing herself to be Kasumi. With help from the protagonist, Sumire realizes she was holding herself back and breaks free from her false identity, embracing her true self and rebelling against the hollow utopia. Her initial Persona--an embodiment of her true self--is Cendrillon, and her third tier ultimate Persona is Ella.

Sumire dosen't just pretends to be her dead sister, she was brainwashed into believing to be her by the final act's main villain/her fairy godfather figure, because that was her (misguided by trauma) wish as she believed that her sister was better than her. The final acts has a lot of 'making wishes come true' theme that connects her to Cinderella even more, also she does have a bit of 'save by the prince' thing going on with the game's protagonist
