This female wasn’t like the others. Blue could sense it within the aura she carried with her. Something that caught the interest of the beta. Head sharply turning to one side to better gaze at the woman with a single amber eye, the raptor gave a low, rumbling growl. The sound slowly growing in volume before tapering out into a curious chitter.
Tumblr media
Slow steps were taken as she began circling the other, observing her. She saw nothing of the dangerous tools humans seemed keen on carrying, but Blue knew from experience as well not to underestimate them. Indeed she was curious, but her tense form held an uneasy caution within her.

A cautious step was taken back as Blue’s unwavering gaze settled on the large dinosaur. It was unlike anything that she had seen before, an unfamiliar breed that she had no knowledge of. It stood in a similar manner as the tyrannosaurus, yet there were many differences that made it far more imposing. It’s long snout, the wide fin that protruded from its spine, the massive claws that supported hanging forelimbs.
This was not a creature she would want to compete with alone. Another step back, and an uncertain warble accompanied it.

Blue had never enjoyed the limitations of these metal containers even when they had once been part of her daily life. The restrictions they held on her physical form conjured up a prickling anxiety within her. And, despite her willingness to go with her alpha, Blue screeched from her transporter. Of course she trusted the male. He was her alpha, a being she could consider as a parental presence in her life; but the unknown was always a frightening thing.

Muzzle pressed firmly against the thick bars, wiggling and thrashing from side to side as though that would bend the cold metal to her will, Blue eventually grew silent once more.

How many times must she face beasts such as this? His pelt may have been lacking the pale color of the other, and he may not have been as large, but he was still just as unnatural. Blue could smell it in his bitter scent. Lips curling over serrated teeth, amber eyes carefully watched the other’s hulking form. Every movement, every twitch of muscle and sinew drew her attention.

Her hooked claw tapped against the wooden floor of the mansion, waiting, anticipating the next strike from this creature that so nearly seemed to resemble one of her own kin.

A common misconception about raptors is the fact that they are highly aggressive and will attack and kill anything on sight. While their repeated recorded occurrences certainly don’t help with this unfortunate negative reputation, velociraptors are in fact not as inherently aggressive. Their habits and behaviors are still very similar to other predators, if not a bit altered. They will not hunt without need, and will only attack when threatened, in danger, for territorial reasons, or if they feel their young could be in potential danger with the presence of another.
In the instance of the four raptor sisters, they behave and respond to situations all in a similar manner. However, if none of these triggers are present, and they have been fed, they will have no reason nor need to attack another. Further more, as they all have had constant human contact growing up, they are creatures that would react very similarly as other captive-raised predators. Those they grow attached to will be treated as another of their kind and with a certain affection.
They will still be extremely dangerous, just as any captive raised predator would be. But, majority of that danger doesn’t come only from the potential of them intentionally inflicting harm. What they might deem as playful and engaging between one another -- ie a playful nip, a little tussle shared between siblings -- actions that normally would cause little harm to each other could easily injure or kill a human. They will also react to certain actions and behaviors as any other wild animal would.
A great example of this is when Owen stands between them and their potential ‘meal’.
Tumblr media
While Owen is still perceived as alpha of their pack, that doesn’t excuse the fact that he purposely denied them a meal and interrupted a hunt. A certain aggression would no doubt be expressed during such a situation. They’re hungry, they’re looking for a meal; they’re going to be angry. However, their hesitation in simply attacking Owen still reflects some level of respect and submission to him. If they were truly run by pure blood lust, there would be no pause in taking a bite from him.
