Delta, gotta appreciate a girl who bites the hand off creeps who dare touch her.

I think Delta has the toughest markings, blended stripes and splotches give her almost a solid appearence.So far she’s my favorite I’ve done so far.

I’ll be adding this as a sticker in my Society6 and Redbubble soon!

       SHE WASN’T SURE if she was sad.  Maybe just disappointed?  But in who?  Herself?  Dawn wasn’t positive where the RISE of hurt had come from.  Might if have been seeing the other kids playing in the park?  Having fun… running and laughing and throwing a ball.  There wasn’t even a c h a n c e for her to ask.

                      “I guess so.  I think I just want to play.  But I can’t.  Why are you sad?”

Slightly curved neck briefly extended as legs lightly lifted herself, the raptor stretching herself to look towards the other squabbling hatchlings that played far from the treeline. Blue failed to understand why she was restricted from such juvenile antics. Form lowering itself, the theropod turned her attention back to the young human, head held level with the child’s line of sight.

“Why not play? Is Hatchling hurt?” she purred, the only logical reason she could conjured as to what held her back. She smelled nothing of blood, however, even as her snout gently moved to press and prod against her shoulder and forelimbs. She responded nothing to her own lurking sadness. At least, not at first. As she worked on examining the female, a quiet chirp finally followed.

“My pack. My family; they’re gone.”

                “IT’S OKAY to be sad sometimes.  Daddy says it’s what you do while you’re sad that matters.”

The hatchlings of this breed had always been rather peculiar to Blue. She had meet them on a number of occasions, and while each was different, they still had a uniqueness in them that seemed to be lost in their grown counterparts.

Head tilting to the side, the raptor quietly offered a soft trill to the child, observing her with a single amber eye. She had lost so many in the last years. Her pack, her family. Bonds that simply were no more. How could that not weight heavy even on a heart of genetically grown creature? “...Is hatchling sad, too?”

Blue grumbled as she laid comfortably on the ground, enjoying her sleep. Blue had made sure everyone else was relaxed before she did but hours later she was being nudged. She grumbled against turning her head away from Charlie. ‘Go to sleep’ she told the youngester, curling her tail over to top of her nose. And yet Charlie continued to nudge, impatient and demanding attention. 

A hiss slipped her lips as she lifted her head up and stood up, stretching forward before looking at Charlie. There was an annoyance on her lips, but a glint in her eye that showed something else. Something mischevious. ‘Fine you want to play, we’ll play,’ Blue cooed as she nipped her shoulder and nudged Charlie out of the enclosure so the others could sleep. They could play outside.

A gleam of satisfaction burned in Charlie’s moonlit gaze, form drawing back as she proudly held her head level to Blue’s as she stood. The irritation that rested in her sister’s features hardly bothered the stripe-pelted raptor. If Blue had truly wanted her gone, she would have snapped at her to leave her be. But, her hisses had only encouraged Charlie’s antics.

Chirping with glee as she only now patiently waited for her sister, an equally playful shove of her shoulder into the beta was her silent response. Stepping out of their evening enclosure and into the larger pen, Charlie darted forward. ‘What shall we play, then, dear sister?’ she chittered, quickly turning about as she purposely, but lightly aimed to whack her tail against the side of Blue’s snout. An amusing jest to the younger raptor.

           Day 176: Blue is showing unprecedented levels of compliance. Here I am with Blue. She’s a theropod from a new group. If I show signs of weakness… “Hey…I’m okay.” She’s pretty extraordinary.           Blue displaying levels of interest, concern, hyper-intelligence, cognitive bonding. See that? Tilting her head, she’s playing for us… Increased eye movement, she’s curious. She’s showing empathy.           Blue is the key. You have Blue… You’ll get these raptors to do anything.

Delta was rarely one to become so fussy. Out of the four sisters, she could be deemed as one of the calmer ones in the pack. For a raptor, at least. However, a particular irritation burned within her. Sharp nips and hisses had been offered to her sisters when they had come near, snarling, contorted expressions directed to them.

And her attitude improved little when Owen arrived that day.
