so much of thorn's design is so intentional and ahead of its time. for the longest I thought that thorn had highlights in her hair or maybe her hair was partially dyed underneath with the red part peeking out through the black. what it actually is are highlights but a very specific type of highlight called a shine line, hair contrasting to other parts of hair to give the effect of more shine. what's interesting about thorn's is the placement of her shine line

this shine line goes around the crown of her head is called a halo shine line, it circles around her head like a halo would. it's how she was described by Sarah as 'virtuous', this word is synonymous with the word 'angelic' much of the time represented with a halo. her virtuous nature shows not only from the inside but it manifests itself outward even in subtle ways

harvery's main verse does follow the events of c.aos comic, where he was killed due to witnessing sabrina's dark baptism by the plan of madam satan to resurrect edward spellman in harvey's body. the only divergence is once edward finds out who manipulated sabrina to resurrect him, he helps brina bring harvey back (and leaves his body) only to secretly possess another's body, though that is unknown to anyone.

once harvey is resurrected from the dead, he is not the same human teenage boy he once was. his spirit is back but he lost a piece of his soul.

hello!!! it is very kind of you to ask in the first place 🖤 i don't mind if my gifs From Gifsets are used in posts that like... build on them in a collaborative way, like meta/analysis posts. but i'd rather they not be reposted [even with credit, whether a link or via the gif search thing] in stuff like faceclaim/gifhunt posts, fic posts, rp threads, moodboards, stuff like that. when i make gifsets it's usually with some overarching concept in mind—so the gifset itself is kind of the Creation, you know? and using component parts of a Creation to make something ELSE decontextualizes it from the whole thing, which i'd rather not happen to my stuff 😔

And so this isn’t exactly what I was thinking and doesn’t really involve the hat like I thought it would, but I’m noticing the visual similarity.

And there we have it.

So, yeah, I’ve watched this twice now. Remind me not to stay up til after midnight waiting for an episode of a show in the future. The second time hit way better when I was well-rested. Er, well, rested anyway.

There were definitely some spots where it felt kind of rushed, and I understand why they had to pack as much as they could into a short space of time, but it still leaves me wishing for more. The nightmares alone could’ve been an episode or two if we’d had a full season 3. But I suppose we can’t dwell too much on what could’ve been.

They did a lot with what they had and made something very meaningful and impactful in my life and I’m sure in the lives of many others. There’s also definitely plenty of room for them to expand into comics or spinoffs, should those opportunities ever arise.

I kind of wish The Collector hadn’t left. For one thing, that last screenshot will always be lacking one character that I would want in a full group shot. And I guess it’s implied that they helped build the new portal door at some point, but I would’ve like too see more of The Collector helping out with the rebuilding efforts. And now I’m quite curious about the Archivists and whatever else is going on in the stars. More potential left open for the future, I suppose.

Gotta say I’m surprised they killed Belos. Not that I’m mourning for him, but I was thinking Luz would probably use the last of her Titan power to imprison him between the realms. I figured that would be a fitting punishment, but maybe killing him was more merciful. And dead to rights, he’d already lived way past his natural lifespan by stealing the lives of others. I’m a little bit surprised that he even could be killed, stubbornly as he clung to life. And I would’ve been afraid to touch that goop for fear of getting possessed, but I guess maybe Luz was still exuding enough Titan power to prevent him from doing that. Anyway, I’m rambling on a tangent now.

Definitely quite a ride. I’m sure I’ll always wish there could’ve been more, but I’m equally sure I’ll always love what we got. And we got so much. Even if we never get anything else, I know this show will continue to spark fond memories in me.

Trivia:

It's Geoff's turn to do triple duty. In the two previous PartWork videos he'd been in, Eli had covered baritone. Earl had taken all three higher parts in his first multitrack outing, so was happy to stick with just the two tenor lines this time around.

Earl is also capable of doing some vocal percussion. He took over the snare line during Layne's rap solo in VoicePlay's "Wow! Vol. 1" medley that they performed on the 2015 Sing-Off tour, and there is backstage video of both of them trying to beatbox after inhaling helium.

Paul Kaleka handled the audio mix for this song solo, allowing the guys to maintain their publication schedule during Layne's paternity leave.

The video description includes a production credit for Eli's then-fiancée, Ashley. She's listed as "Space Bar Champion", so she was probably handling the on-set audio playback while Eli was running the camera.

They also attribute set design to "Whit E. Wall" to explain their minimalist aesthetic.

I don't know how much (if at all) it influenced their decision to record this song, but Layne had gotten married the previous October, and Eli had proposed to Ashley in April. The number of unmarried guys in their ranks was rapidly diminishing.

♫ ❚❙❘ She herself is not very competitive. Yet, she always found herself watching the Grand Magic Games whenever they were on. Specifically, whenever Fairy Tail participated. Around the time the guild left the center of town Olexa had given up trying to join. As much as she wanted to, she lacked the confidence and eventually felt like they deserved a mage to help them return to their former glory, and she was no where near close.

That changed the year the missing group returned. Watching them compete light a new drive inside her. Olexa was reminded why she not only admired the guild, but why she enjoyed magic. At that point she had only toyed with the idea of enchanting instruments, but by the end of day one of the games, she had gone to a magic shop and bought some lacrima to get started. Hoping that by the time they returned home, she would have spell good enough to impress the master and allow her to join.

The girl doesn't like being in the spot light, and that still is the case. But since becoming a member, she does try harder to become stronger. Less of a competitive spirit, and more just motivation to not be seen as a burden or weak.

Look.  We know what my aesthetic is about.  I don’t like the 2021 summer pairs.  It doesn’t help that I also don’t really care for Grimmsnarl, and do not like Intelleon.  It was like the first event that happened after I joined the game and my general response was “Oh wow, this and...who the fuck are Ingo and Emmet, people like these guys (Legends Arceus wasn’t out yet, I didn’t do battle facilities after Platinum, don’t judge me),” and it took until finding out about Lyra’s rerun and how cute that summer outfit was to go oh hey, something I care about.  And then I got her 5/5 on that rerun.  And she’s still bad.  Seasonal grid expansions when?

I haven’t done it often, since it is a single-target skill, but Hilda can absolutely waste a CS stage that way.  Like oh, your stage gimmick is repeated high offense attacks after accuracy buffing?  Enjoy not doing shit the rest of your life, idiot.  She’s still not exactly top meta or anything, but people really undersold her gimmick to begin with, and it’s only gotten more valuable with the CS adjustments and Terrakion.

Headcanon Time!

♫:  three of my muse’s favorite songs

Given Sera would honestly say anything traditional, soft, lyrical - Essentially she'd sit and listen to soft rock or local music, really, along with, ironically, the Stamp song from Remake, she'll never explain why - I'm gonna cheat and pick off my playlist for her. XD The top three would be Speechless - Naomi Scott, This Is Me - Kesha (which admittedly in more modern verses does make her cry when she's able to listen to it and is one of her primary theme songs), and Return of the Snow Queen - Phrynna <3 Though honestly anything Lindsey Stirling releases is also way there, both on her playlist (Foreverglow especially!) and as something Sera herself would listen to!

☃:  does my muse like the holidays?

Sera loves them, especially christmas! There's something comforting about them, especially now that she's older, and she loves christmas especially for being a season where people are generous. For a few weeks out of the year, people reach deep into their heart and become kinder, gentler, more open - Things she wants to see all year round, and she hopes to eventually see the magic of christmas eventually stretch out past those few weeks.

She's also especially fond of holiday decorations - she never really got to see those as a child, and now that she has her own home and family, she's prone to going all out and decorating everything she can, especially if it's sparkly and shiny! <3 Sparkly easter eggs, glitter and fake snow, lights and sparkles... She loves all of it, and never fails to get lost in the magic of the holidays! <3

Tending to Zack's sword and doing chores. Although it's way too big and heavy for her, very nearly matching her height, Sera will stay up all night to clean it and make sure it's ready for use the following day, even if it doesn't appear to need tending to. Likewise, she's forgo sleep to get her household tasks done, or to run errands and take care of deliveries - If she has anything left to do at the end of the day, she simply can't sleep. It weighs on her and leaves her restless, and more than once Zack's woken in the middle of the night to her in the kitchen washing dishes rather than actually sleeping beside him.

In truth, it's not so much of an obsession, though it certainly presents itself as one, and is more in line with her traumas; Sera will call it a need to be a 'good kitty' to those close enough to her she feels safe being completely honest with, and it ties in both with her nickname of 'Kitten' from Zack and her past abuse. Being 'kitten' is something of a personal shield for her (for reasons I won't get into here because that's a meta/HC in and of itself) and serves as her last line of defense, and she desperately wants to be 'good' - She wants to be dependable. She wants to be reliable. Upbeat. Not a bother. Helpful. Someone people look at and smile, not roll their eyes and get tired of whenever she's in the same room as them.

If she gets everything done she needs to, nobody has a reason to complain about it. If his sword is clean and tended to, it's one less weight on his shoulders, and one less task he has to worry about. If she can keep the kitchen clean then nobody can worry about it, or call her out on it not being sparkling. Work done on time, or even better early, means nobody else is put out because of her. She's not a disappointment, and nobody will be angry or upset or disappointed in her. She's kitten, and she's been good and helpful!

....Right?

In the first decade of YouTube's existence, amateur video creators did some wild, experiemental things. Some folks found their niches in odd places. And others went meta by making content about that weird stuff. This video goes above and beyond mere commentary to become a full parody production of its own.
