Guess who went craaaaaazy
Here’s a google doc that delves deeper (I think it’s like 20 pages sorry)
EDIT: forgot to include aries for least common sign for 1st years! prior reblogs may be off
EDIT 2: Fukuda's birthday was incorrectly labeled as April 24th. It is actually April 26th.
EDIT 3: Realized I had some totals wrong for the birth months. Which of course made it complicated lol. May/June/July have an equal amount of characters born into each of them (10) as does December/January (3).

What if Anime Characters (Especially Japanese) have Chinese, Korean, and English names – Kuroko no Basuke/Kuroko’s Basketball ver. (Part 1)
Those kanji names can be translated into Hanzi (Chinese) and Hangeul (Korean) based on en.wiktionary.org
Remember, this is only for Japanese characters, not American and African (like Alexandra Garcia, Papa Mbaye Siki, Nash Gold Jr., Jason Silver, etc) characters. Also, their Chinese will be written with Chinese Simplified instead of Chinese Traditional to make it sound like in Mainland China.
First, let's start with our main reguler characters, Team Seirin, and Team Kaijo. There will be many parts of it.
UPDATED: the change of Midorima's English name (Feb 21, 2025)
1. Tetsuya Kuroko (黒子 テツヤ)
Tumblr media
Etymology: Tetsuya’s given name is in Katakana, but in Chinese Wikipedia, his kanji name is 哲也 that means “wise, sagacious, philosophy” (黒) (kuro); “to be, also” (也) (ya). Meanwhile, Kuroko’s surname Kuroko (黒子) means "beauty spot, prompter, black figures, stagehand, face mole/dark mole, mite" (黒子) (kuroko) [“black” (黒) (kuro); “child” (and 子) (ko)].
Chinese Name: 黑子哲也 (Hēizǐ Zhéyě) → If he has a Chinese name, I'll name him 何哲也 (Hè Zhéyě). Actually, 黑 (Hēi) is a very rare surname in all Asian, but still, there is someone with a surname 黑 (Hēi/ Hè). Thus surname comes from tribe Hui Chinese (the tribe where majority of their religion is Moeslem) and belongs to the Chineseization of the surname as a clan. When 黑 is used as last name, it should read as Hè, similiar to Huh/Ho. To make it easy since there is common Chinese surname that pronounced as Hè like 何and 賀/贺, I’ll make his surname as Hè instead of Hēi.
Korean Name: 흑자 철야  (Heukja Cheolya) → If he has a Korean name, I'll name him 하철야 (Ha Cheolya) due to match his Chinese/Hanja name that seems common in Korea.
English Name: Based on one of his kanji names meaning, I'll name him Solomon. Solomon in Hebrew origin means "peace" or "peaceable." It is also thought to be derived from the Hebrew word "shalom," which means "wholeness" or "completeness." People with the name Solomon are often seen as being kind, compassionate, and wise, just like Kuroko’s personality that is wise and peaceful. So, his English name is Solomon Kuroko.
2. Taiga Kagami (火神 大我)
Tumblr media
Etymology: The name Taiga means "big, great" (大) (tai) and "ego, I, selfish, our, oneself" (我). Meanwhile, Taiga's surname Kagami means "fire/flame/blaze, light" (火) (ka) and "god, deity" (神) (kami/gami)
Chinese Name: 火神 大我 (Huǒshén Dàwǒ) → If he has a Chinese name, I'll name him 霍大我 (Huò Dàwǒ).
Korean Name: 화신 대아 (Hwashin Dae-ah) → If he has a Korean name, I'll name him 곽대아 (Kwak Dae-ah) due to match his Chinese/Hanja name.
English Name: Taiga is a common Japanese way of pronouncing and writing (in katakana) "tiger". Since there is a golfer named Tiger Woods, I’ll name his English name is Tiger Kagami.
3. Ryōta Kise (黄瀬 涼太)
Tumblr media
Etymology: The name Ryōta means "cool, refreshing" (涼) (ryō) and "thick, big, great" (太) (ta); Ryōta's surname Kise means "yellow" (黄) (ki) and "swift current, rapids" (瀬) (se).
Chinese Name: 黃瀨涼太 (Huánglài Liángtài) → If he has a Chinese name, I'll name him黃涼太 (Huáng Liángtài).
Korean Name: 황뢰 양태 (Hwangroi Yangtae) → If he has a Korean name, I'll name him 황양태 (Hwang Yangtae).
English Name: Based on one of his kanji name, I'll name him Keanu. Keanu is a boy's name of Hawaiian origin that means "cool breeze" or "cool breeze over the mountains," this is a light and airy choice for your little one that will keep them connected to nature. Since one of his Kanji name relates to "cool", so his English name is Keanu Kise.
4. Shintarō Midorima (緑間 真太郎)
Tumblr media
Etymology: The name Shintarō means "real, genuine" (真) (shin), "thick, big, great" (太) (ta) and "son" (郎) (rō); while Shintarō's surname Midorima means "green" (緑) (midori) and "while, time, interval, space, pause, chamber, room, apartment, leisure, chance, entr'acte, intervening, as" (間) (ma).
Chinese Name: 绿间真太郎 (Lǜjiān Zhēntàiláng) → If he has a Chinese name, I'll name him 吕真太郎 (Lǚ Zhēntàiláng/Lü Zhentailang/Lv Zhentailang).
Korean Name: 녹간 진태랑 (Nokgan Jintaerang) → If he has a Korean name, I'll name him 여 진태랑 (Yeo Jintaerang).
English Name: Based on one of his kanji name, I'll name him Julian. After pondering Midorima's English name for a long time, I somehow feel that the name Julian fits Midorima more than Alexander. Although not all of it matches the meaning of his name Shintaro, at least it is close enough to the meaning. Besides, the name Julian is quite related to people born in July, while Midorima was born on July 7th. What a lucky seven, you know? The name Julian is the origin of the month "July," meaning that "July" is named after Julius Caesar, and Julian is a gender-neutral name of Latin origin, meaning “youthful,” "downy bearded," “shiny,” “juvenile,” or “Jove's child.” When baby joins your family, they will bring with them the curiosity and innocence of youth, giving you the chance to see the world through a child's eyes again. So, his English name is Julian Midorima.
5. Daiki Aomine (青峰 大輝)
Tumblr media
Etymology: The name Daiki means "big, great" (大) (dai) and "brightness, radiance, shine, sparkle, gleam, twinkle" (輝) (ki); while Daiki's surname Aomine means "blue, green" (青) (ao) and "peak, ridge" (峰) (mine).
Chinese Name: 青峰大辉 (Qīngfēng Dàhuī) → If he has a Chinese name, I'll name him 情大辉 (Qíng Dàhuī). That 情 (Qíng) is actually very rare in Korea or China, but since there is that Hanja surname for 정 (Jung) that sounds like Qing (that Chinese surname is actually makes sense, but unfortunately very rare since Qing Dynasty is over).
Korean Name: 청봉 대휘 (Chungbong Daehwi) → If he has a Korean name, I'll name him 정대휘 (Jung Daehwi/Chung Daehwi).
English Name: Based on one of his kanji names meaning, I’ll name him Barack. Barack/Barak (Hebrew: בָּרָק Bārāq, "lightning"), is a masculine name of Hebrew origin. It appears in the biblical Book of Judges as the name of the Israelite general Barak, who alongside Deborah led an attack against the forces of King Jabin of Hazor. It can also be derived from the root B-R-Q (Hebrew: ב־ר־ק; Arabic: ب-ر-ق), meaning "lightning". Since he has entered Zone which can emit some lightning from his eyes and his name is association with “light” (輝) (ki), so his English name is Barack Aomine.
6. Satsuki Momoi (桃井 さつき)
Tumblr media
Etymology: The name Satsuki is written in hiragana (さつき), which has no special meaning. However, when written in kanji (皐, 皐月, 五月 or 小月), it could possibly mean: 皐 - "swamp, shore". 皐月/五月 - "May". 小月 - "small" (小) (sa) and "moon" (月) (tsuki). Meanwhile, Satsuki's surname Momoi means "peach" (桃) (momo) and "well, mine shaft, pit" (井) (i).

Korean Name: 도정 오월 (Dojung Ohwol) → If he has a Korean name, I'll name him 도오월(Do Ohwol).
English Name: Satsuki is the traditional Japanese name for “the month of May”. Since her name is in Hiragana and there is English name that name May, so her English name is May Momoi.

Tumblr media
Etymology: The name Atsushi means "kindness, honesty/honest" (敦), while Atsushi's surname Murasakibara means "purple, violet" (紫) (murasaki) and "field, plain" (原) (hara/bara).
Chinese Name: 紫原敦 (Zǐyuán Dūn) → If he has a Chinese name, I'll name him 慈 敦 (Cí Dūn). Actually, there is no surname 慈 (Cí) in Chinese. But I just match it with Korean Hangeul 자 (ja) with Hanja 慈 (Cí). That name is also very rare (even the rarest) in Korea (in both South and North maybe). But in Japan, 慈 (Cí) is usually being used in Japanese, combine with another Kanji to make some Japanese surname for example, 久慈 for surname Kuji. That’s all.
Korean Name: 자원 돈 (Jawon Don) → If he has a Korean name, I'll name him 자 돈 (Ja Don/Cha Don).
English Name: Based on his kanji names meaning, I’ll name him Hugh. Hugh is a boy’s name of British origin and is the English-language variant of German boy names like Hugo and Uwe. Hugh celebrates inner beauty with meanings like “mind,” “thought,” “spirit,” “heart,” “understanding,” “bright mind,” and “bright spirit.” The name Hugh is almost closed with the meaning of “kindness” and “honest” IMO, and also, Hugh sounds like the word “huge” since his body is huge. English Name: Based on one of his kanji names meaning, I’ll name him Victor. Victor is a masculine name of Latin origin embodying the essence of overcoming. Meaning "conqueror," Victor is one of the oldest Christian names, championed as a tribute to Christ's victory over sin and death. Just like his English name meaning, Akashi’s mindset is about conquest and victory, even his Kanji name 征 (sei) has the meaning of “conquest”. So, his English name is Victor Akashi.
9. Junpei Hyūga (日向 順平)
Tumblr media
Etymology: The name Junpei means "obey/obedience, submit" (順) (jun) and "flat, broad, level, even, peaceful" (平) (hei/pei). Junpei's surname Hyūga means "sunny place" (日向).
Chinese Name: 日向顺平 (Rìxiàng Shùnpíng) → If he has a Chinese name, I'll name him 向顺平 (Xiàng Shùnpíng).

The name derives from the Irish name Caoimhín, which originates from the elements coém and gein, meaning “handsome” or "beloved" and “birth,” respectively. Izuki in Seirin team is also the most handsome guy, if he isn’t in a pun-making mode on (according to fandom wiki). So, his English name is Kevin Izuki.

It may be connected to the given name Emma, or the place of Emmott, Lancashire (now known as Laneshawbridge, but still containing Emmott Hall), or it is connected to the Hebrew word אמת (emét), "Truth", or old Persian word (امید), "Hope or Aspiration". It could, however, also come from the old English word for an ant, as still used in Cornwall. So, his English name is Emmett Nakamura.
26. Genta Takeuchi (武内 源太)
Tumblr media
Etymology: The name Genta means "source, origin" (源) (gen) and "thick, big, great" (太) (ta). Genta's surname Takeuchi means "military, martial" (武) (take) and "inside, within" (内) (uchi).
Chinese Name: 武内源太 (Wǔnèi Yuántài) → If he has a Chinese name, I'll name him 吴源太 (Wú Yuántài).
Korean Name: 무내 원태 (Munae Wontae)→ If he has a Korean name, I'll name him 오원태(OhWontae).
English Name: Based on one of his kanji names meaning, I’ll name him Rudy. A short form of Rudolph, Rudy is a boy's name of German origin. Derived from the German name Hrōdwulf, Rudy basks in the glow of its meaning, "famous wolf." Surely destined for great things, it may be no surprise that Rudy already enjoys prestigious royal ties. So, his English name is Rudy Takeuchi.
That’s for the part 1. Next time is Team Shutoku, Team Touou, Team Yosen, and Team Rakuzan in part 2.
Part 1 (For Main Characters + GOMs, Team Seirin, and Team Kaijo) Part 2 (For Team Shutoku, Team Touou, Team Yosen, and Team Rakuzan)

These are gonna be Seirin/Kuroko in his 3rd year focused bc I have a lot of thoughts about that and have been meaning to draw them out so maybe writing it will inspire me haha. Not in any particular order bc I’m lazy.
- Hyuuga selects Furihata to be the next Captain when he and the others retire, and Kuroko and co are all ecstatic for him while Furihata just stands there shocked for a good 30 seconds before bursting into elated tears
- Riko graduates, but the school offers her a paid position to keep on coaching and she accepts because she just has to see her og freshmen’s final year. 🧡 She’s currently in college double majoring in business managaement and kinesiology and everyone’s surprised that she finds the time to do all that she does put her boys through the wringer
- Kagami stays in Japan until high school graduation, then goes to the States for college aka how it should have been in canon
- Kawahara has a growth spurt, gaining both height and mass and becomes a well-rounded Center
- Furihata grows his hair out a little and ties it back into a little ponytail for games ( @misfitmiska ‘s ponytailed!Furihata has me in a chokehold)
- Fukuda, much to Furihata’s dismay, ends up being the first to get a girlfriend (they start dating during his second year and she’s an avid supporter of the team and goes to most games and is a familiar face to the team). Her and Fukuda uses each other’s given names (without honorifics) to address each other
- Mitobe Chigusa (canon name of Mitobe’s younger sis, the one with the most screen time) joins Seirin as the manager as a 1st year when Kuroko and co are 3rd years
- Hyuuga according to the Character Bible, has a younger brother. I like to imagine he goes to Seirin and tries to follow in his bro’s footsteps (he’d be a 1st year along with Chigusa). Haven’t really decided on personality/design yet.
- Kuroko is Vice Captain to Furihata’s Captain
- Kagami is an awkward as hell senpai and doesn’t do well with the new blood fawning over him/even calling him “senpai”, but he tries his best (Kuroko makes fun of him and any chance he gets he’s like “hmm why don’t you ask Kagami-kun?” whenever a kouhai has a question/needs help just to force Kagami into Teaching Moments)
- Ogiwara transfers to Seirin his second year. I’m not married to this idea but I think he could bring a fun dynamic plus seirin needs the numbers now that hyuuga and the gang are gone.
- Asahina Daigo and Yagi Yuta (those canon guys that made tiny appearances in the Extra Game manga + light novels) make up Seirin’s second years. I think I would add like 1 or 2 more OCs as a second year and a freshman to round out the numbers, since again, seirin is lacking in numbers
- more of a general headcanon but I like to think that nigou is not some sort of dwarf breed of dog as canon would suggest (he’s never shown to get bigger) and is actually some sort of malamute/husky/shiba mix, so he turns into an absolute unit by the time Kuroko’s 3rd year rolls around. Kagami has since completely warmed up to him and Nigou is the only dog he tolerates because he’s a “special exception”. He’s able to freely pet and toss a toy around with Nigou by his third year but if any other dog approaches him, he’s outta there.
- Kagami, Kuroko, and Aomine have also taught Nigou how to shoot a basket with his nose. Aomine and Kagami are just hanging out watching him when Kuroko steps away for a second on like a streetball court one day and then Nigou does it accidentally and they’re both just like 😮‼️😮 and then they proceed to dedicate a good chunk of their free time to trying to get him to do it again. Kuroko returns to them trying to recreate the moment, with Kagami throwing a ball at Aomine’s face and everything, who’s enthusiastically being like “see see, you did it like this!”. And Kuroko’s just like 😐 (he has already taught Nigou this trick and is highly amused by Aomine and Kagami’s antics)
- it’s not uncommon to see a familiar face (a former player like Hyuuga, Kiyoshi, etc) in the stands at games/coaching at training camps
- for 1 year post-canon, when Kiyoshi is still recovering from his operation he has to take it a little easier than he wants to, but is back to about 89% to his usual levels of strength by Winter Cup 2. However before then, he serves as Seirin’s manager.
- tsuchida’s gf (whose a total smokeshow to everyone’s bafflement) ends up becoming Seirin’s manager in her and Tsuchida’s final year of hs bc she wants to make an effort to be more supportive/close to him. She’s super kind and chill and everyone really likes her. She calls Tsuchida “Satoshi-kun” and he also uses a derivation of her given name when he addresses her
Well anyways knb fans that are left on Tumblr. Please respond to this with like head cannons or your own personal aus that you might have regarding their second or third year.

Seirin Facts and Stats
I originally planned on posting a new set of infographics, but I wanna give myself some time and read them over to make sure there are no mistakes, as I’ve come across (and fixed) a few mistakes on my age chart. So instead, I decided to post this one I made a while ago and never did anything with, for some reason.
All these facts are canon, taken from the wiki (which draws from the manga, light novels, video games, official bonus content in books/magazines). I also don’t speak Japanese, but I did my best to research and be as accurate as possible. Enjoy! Would you want to see one of these for others teams?
EDIT 1/28/25: Fixed Fukuda's family members (he has no father according to the Character Bible, but the wiki incorrectly listed a father). Added Fukuda's other hobby "kendama". I also learned the name of Izuki's dog, which is Maruo.
