man, his children. he loves them and would never trade them for the world, but raising three kids for a short while was a challenge. i mean, sure, mia and miles were fairly tame, but commuting everyday from the city to the village and making sure the siblings bonded enough was a bit of a struggle, and then gregory raising miles on his own and reluctantly having to leave misty with two daughters (even though she raised them perfectly well, he still wanted to be involved in their lives) stressed him out a bit. i mean, miles was a good kid, he had his occasional moments, but miles was an angel and he was thankful, but he just struggled with being alone and doing it alone. 

Wildberry Chocolate Chunk: a social life headcanon.

Gregory isn’t that great at making friends. He has a powerful charisma and people flock to him, but he’s so awkward at it despite the charm. He stumbles over his words a lot and sometimes gets flustered. He does want friends and he has some, but he’s just an awkward butterfly who is really just focused on his work and family that it’s hard for him to put in time for friendships.

Oof, this will be a doozy. I’m ready. When Miles was a child, he used to like looking in the mirror. A lot of people would tell him he looked just like Gregory, and he would get so happy and proud. He’d look into the mirror a lot, even dress up in Gregory’s clothes (glasses, hat and coat) and try to see how much he looked like him. Gregory caught him so many times, but he never said anything. He just took pictures. Then, when everything fell apart, Miles began to have a lot of issues with looking in the mirror. When he was growing up with the von Karmas, he avoided every mirror and reflective surface he came across. He couldn’t stand seeing his reflection and seeing what he became under Manfred’s rule. He knew he was a monster on the inside, and he refused to see it on the outside. He avoided looking into one for long if he had to, and he moved on quickly. Whenever he saw himself, he would no longer see Gregory in himself, but von Karma, and the thought would always make him sick and uneasy and disappointed in himself. Then he broke away and began to figure himself out. When he came back with a fresh outtake on life, he had a slightly easier time seeing himself. He still didn’t see Gregory, but he no longer saw Manfred. When he became the chief, Miles was able to look into the mirror confidently. Gone was Manfred, and the Gregory in him began to resurface. It didn’t consume him, though. Miles became his own person, just with a hint of Gregory, and that is enough to make him proud.

I have this headcanon that MVK had Miles cover up his freckles on his face because they were considered an imperfection. He has moles as well but they’re not as visible as freckles. So, for the longest time, Miles was ashamed of having freckles, and even long after mvk had passed, he still covered them up. It took him a very long time to accept them and feel comfortable with showing them. Now, he’s proud of them.

I have a headcanon that Miles makes his own blends of tea. I feel that during his trips to Europe, on his time off, he wound up learning how to make his own tea and it became a habit of his. It’s a lot of trial and error, some flavors taste awful, some taste wonderful. It’s a fun little thing for him to do and it helps him calm down too. Sometimes, Trucy will help him by making the little bags for the tea, and she’ll even help him experiment with flavors.

After a few years, Miles finally asked Ray if he can have Gregory’s trenchcoat, since it was most likely going to go to him (Ray getting the hat). Ray agreed. Miles has it carefully tucked away in his closet, and sometimes, when he’s having a hard day and he’s alone, he’ll occasionally slip it on just to feel the warmth and to have Gregory’s scent (it still smells like him after all those years). It brings him comfort and it calms him down.
