here’s the symbolism behind this piece, for fun:

equilibrium describes duality in balance. opposing forces that, when brought together, create something new

crows are thought to be messengers of the spirit world, and flowers represent earthly life, so there are two of each - black and white respectively

one crow holds a filigree arrow - part of a weapon turned into a work of art

the other crow holds a golden yew branch - part of nature, yet highly poisonous.

at first glance the yew looks like an olive branch in direct contrast to the arrow (a symbol of war vs. a symbol of peace), but both objects contain their own duality of dark and light that play off of each other. the arrow is beautiful art, but also a weapon. the yew is a beautiful plant, but also a poison.

finally the eclipse at the top of the image is one of the ultimate symbols of perfect equilibrium - the sun and moon occupying the same space in the sky. I left the eclipse incomplete (there’s still a crescent of sun visible, so it’s not a total eclipse) to symbolize change, and the beauty of imperfection... also I get to have it look like both day and night at once ☀️ 🌙
