I’m a trans-girl lesbian who goes by she/her pronouns.

I'm also neurodivergent (autistic specifically) so if I act differently/misunderstand things that's why. I'm sorry my brain just be running differently.

I’m likely suffering from chronic Asriel and Noelle brain rot. I want goat boy to get a happy ending and love the Trans Noelle head-canon. Shipper of Suselle (Susie/Noelle) and Dessriel (Dess/Asriel). (Oh and of course Alphyne (Alphys/Undyne) but I'm not obsessed with the pair like Suselle and Dessriel. Alphyne's still cute though!) Also opened asks! (but don't really know what I'll do with them, and don't expect quick responses, especially bc I’m the shy type of trans-femme. Also, keep the discourse crap away from me.)

Hello, we are The Labyrinth of Wandering Stars; or you can just call us Eden. We may use Forest of Wonder and Wonderland as “system names”, but they just refer to separate sidesystems; we may also use the terms front system and back system to describe this.

We’re a HC-DID system who are bodily 18, white, and collectively have AuDHD. Symptoms are spread between alters, but we experience symptoms of bipolar 1, anorexia, DPD, BPD, NPD, and we have a couple suspected PDs that we’d rather not list. We also heavily suspect we have EDS.

We mostly post things related to our DID, though we occasionally pop into communities surrounding other mental health issues + disabilities we have. We also may do random reblogs, fandom posting… Main tumblr blog stuff. All posts about in-depth RAMCOA discussion will be accordingly tagged.

Is “She-Ra” really a bait?

I’ve stumbled upon a cutting-to-the-core article about DreamWorks’ deceptive marketing that I quite recommend reading: https://geekdad.com/2020/01/baitworks-how-dreamworks-engaged-in-predatory-marketing-towards-lgbt-fans/ It explains the magnitude of the disaster of Voltron: Legendary Defender’s finale and makes a rather gloomy prophecy about future of She-Ra and the Princesses of Power.

Who am I to argue with truth? DreamWorks does have shitty policy and most likely we won’t see a queer relationship between major characters bloom onscreen in this show. Yet there are numerous reasons why She-Ra can’t be put at the same level of queerbait with Voltron.

The major difference is between the showrunners. While VLD creators were clueless and ignorant, She-Ra’s creator is queer herself and she fully well knew what hardships she and the show’s crew had to endure and what concessions had to be made for her work to see the light.

A little off-topic about VLD: while I’m not defending the showrunners, the catastrophe that was Season 8 was very likely... not completely their own decision. There are lots of useful meta on Tumblr about the Season 8 having major last-minute changes - things that have solid proof in the season itself. A major character was erased from the season, other characters’ arcs were mutilated and sewn together anew, so it became indigestible both plotwise and character-wise. Sadly we will never know the true reasons behind these changes, but most likely they were not entirely the showrunners’ fault. What definitely was their fault, however, was marrying Shiro off to a stranger and having the audacity to boast their being “progressive” for it. Most likely, the story went like this: Shiro had his usual share of development and interactions in the initial Season 8 (we know for sure the moment with Zethrid holding Keith hostage went differently and involved more action from Shiro than just gaping into the void) - changes to the plot happen (for whatever reasons) - away go all the scenes involving Shiro except for him barking orders - the showrunners go oops. Didn’t we boast having a heroic character that is also gay. Welp, nothing heroic about him now, so we definitely need to throw a bone at lgbt+ community - how about we have a gay wedding! It will be so charming, such a win-win, lgbt+ audience is gonna looove it! ...Well, what could possibly go wrong.

Trying to salvage the season’s remnants, they destroyed their only gay character’s arc trying to pass it off as representation, killed off their only woman of color in the main cast trying to pass it off as a dramatic turn of events, then stood in the enormous pile of fuck-up they made preaching about how it’s okay if not all the viewers’ expectations are met. Ew. Real gross.

Noelle Stevenson, however, is nothing like that. She knew the limits of what she could do from the start, so she’s been subtly preparing everything since the show’s beginning. I’m quite sure that She-Ra’s finale is not going to be nearly as disastrous as VLD finale. Moreover, all the show’s seasons were finished (and confirmed) beforehand, so they are not getting last-minute changes.

Most importantly, Noelle made sure that all the relationships between characters are treated equally, be they f/f, m/m of m/f. There are literally three canon couples in the show, all of them are secondary characters, there is one m/f couple (Micah&Angella), one m/m couple (Lance&George) and one f/f couple (Spinnerella&Netossa). There are no relationships in the main cast that are stated as romantic in-canon. No homosexual relationships between major characters are allowed? Well, there will be no heterosexual ones either! All romance becomes subtext, all of it. Painfully obvious crushes (Seahawk’s on Mermista, Hordak’s on Entrapta, Scorpia’s on Catra) are repeatedly named “friendship”. There is literally nothing that could prevent the hetero crushes from becoming text, yet they stay subtext, because the lesbian crush stays subtext.

Text is always better than subtext, yet subtext is better than nothing - if treated with due respect and care. She-Ra is wonderful representation-wise: it has a world full of diversity and devoid of xenophobia, an amazing cast of female characters with well-written personalities and interactions and diverse body types, a major non-binary character, portrayal of healthy happy homosexual relationships (although between secondary characters), thought-out and dramatic queer dynamic between major characters (although kept subtextual).

The article above states that Steven Universe, unlike She-Ra, treats its lgbt+ audience with respect. But, while SU is an amazing show with breathtaking canon lesbian relationships, it still uses an excuse to bypass censorship: the “rocks from space” are officially sexless. Sadly, She-Ra can’t have such an excuse.

In She-Ra’s case DreamWorks are to blame for censorship, not the author. I’m sure that Catradora is going to get the best subtextual confirmation that can be done in these circumstances.

Though the end of She-Ra is going to be a bit sad (Catradora and other queer ships getting no i-love-you and no wedding onscreen), it will definitely not be as devastating as Voltron’s ending.

While we hope for a better future where queer characters and relationships are treated fairly in all media, we can still enjoy She-Ra and what Noelle managed to do for representation - which is quite a lot, especially in comparison with other popular kids’ animated shows.

Global Rollout

So, it's pretty obvious that Toriel is gonna be the chapter 3 guest protag. Now, if a weird route is done for this chapter, I can imagine it would probably be done via an abuse of her instinct to protect her child. That said, if it was me, I'd probably lock it out if chapter 2's weird route has already been cleared. Noelle's sudden aversion to Kris, after all, is bound to be notable small-town news, and I can imagine it would (whether she consciously realizes it or not) raise just enough of a red flag in her head not to fall for it - though she'd surely be devastated at the attempt.

And, of course, there's Undyne. I think that, even with a badge and uniform instead of a suit of armor and magic spears, she's still the Spear of Justice deep down. As such, I can definitely see her quickly comprehending no matter what that Darkners are just as full of life as any Lightner. And as such, if one chooses the above path, she'd treat the mass-murder of Darkners with the same seriousness as if it was happening to Hometown's own. Besides, as far as she'd know, there's nothing stopping the responsible party from doing the same to Hometown if they're allowed to arrive there.

Eventually, it is discovered that there at least appears to be a "good" version of the salt route, but it's as obstuse within the salt route as the salt route itself is within the main game. In fact, it feels enough like you're forcing the game's hand that for a long time people are genuinely unsure of whether it's intentional or an oversight. You get to interact with your teammates, Spamton is on good terms with the Addisons, it genuinely seems like the perfect route!

But, for some reason, Ralsei is worried about those keys. They're not what Spamton thinks they are, he says. And his worry only grows the more of them you collect, until at one point it outgrows his desire to make you feel good, and he begins to actively obstruct your progress in collecting the last one. You gotta think way outside the box to get past this.

And finally, it's done. He has them all, and he uses them. Finally, he has the keys to his freedom! But, once they're used, he dies just like when you cut Neo's strings. Worse, the keys somehow start a chain reaction which shuts down the fountain while you're still in its world!

You wake up in Castle Town. Their fountain is noticeably less active, too. Ralsei, having waited for you to wake up, tells you the news: the Castle Town portal has ceased to function. The others all know they're stuck there, but he couldn't find it in himself to tell them that your actions are what caused it. Reluctantly, he tells you that your room is ready, and leaves. At this point, a message box appears, and the game softlocks upon it:

Bountiful Garden #01 Mad Cave Studios 2021 Written by Ivy Noelle Weir Illustrated by Kelly Williams Coloured by Giorgio Spalletta Lettered by Justin Birch    In the year 2200, a team of teenage scientists are sent on a terraforming mission to a distant planet. Selected as the best and brightest of their generation, architect Jonas, botanist Marnie, biologist Jane, engineers Anya and Kamari, and security detail Kurt are all put into cryostasis expected to wake up when it is time to prepare to land on their assigned planet. When they are awakened abruptly, ten years early, halted above a strange planet, the teens are tasked with trying to figure out why they're stalled - or what stalled them. As they break into two teams, one tasked with fixing the ship, the other with exploring the unknown planet below, they're faced with an increasingly nightmarish scenario as they encounter a cosmic horror that seems to not only have attacked their ship, but also their minds.    Finally we see a story that utilises kids on a long range, long term space mission.  Yes it makes sense because they are young and supposedly brilliant so sending them into space doing what they are supposed to do.  It is like someone heard my unvoiced plea about doing this, putting the kids in space, because they are younger and will live longer it just makes more sense to me.  With what else we see during this introductory issue goes a long way in showing the downside of kids in space as well as the inherent danger in heading into the unknown.  I do find not only the mix of kids to be interesting but their job descriptions intrigue me as well, as does the fact that we aren’t introduced to any kind of machinery that would help in terraforming or settling a new planet.    I am enjoying the way that this is being told.  The story & plot development we see through how the sequence of events unfold as well as how the reader learns information is presented exceptionally well.  The character development we see through the dialogue, the character interaction as well as how they act and react to the situations and circumstances which they encounter.  This gives us the chance to really get a good, solid look at each of these kids and their personalities. How we see everything working together to create the story’s ebb & flow as well as how it moves the story forward is achieved extremely well.      The inteiros here are absolutely charming.  There is definitely a specific style happening here and it’s almost in the all-ages range but then it also adds this whole creepy element to the story.  The linework is strong and how we see the varying weights being utilised to create the detail work that we see is fantastic.  I like how we see backgrounds being utilised to enhance and expand the moments as well as how they work within the composition of the panels to bring out the depth perception, sense of scale and the overall sense of size and scope to the story.  The utilisation of the page layouts and how we see the angles and perspective in the panels shows a very talented eye for storytelling.  The various hues and tones within the colours being utilised to create the shading, highlights and shadow work shows a solid eye for how colour works.   ​    There is some really great tension added to the story because of what we see and where the story is headed.  It adds this great intrigue factor as well and it certainly leaves that desire within the reader to see what is going to happen next.  To be honest it feels like an early teen version of Alien for so many different reasons.  This is a well thought out and constructed intelligent story with some diverse and interesting characterisation wrapped up in these stylised interiors that match the story beautifully.  Mad Cave has another hit on their hands and it is nice to see that this isn’t aimed at your typical audience either.

Isadora squinted her eyes at the blonde woman, trying to decide where she'd seen her before. Throughout the years so many faces had passed before her eyes that sometimes it was hard to put a name to each right away. The woman was young, though, so it was either a relative she may have met or she's just mistaken her for somebody. Either way, it didn't matter now. "So it's like the old days, huh? The heir climbs up the throne once the ruler is dead." She wasn't trying to spy, but Isadora was a smart woman. She'd never miss out on the opportunity of gaining entail, which might come useful later on. "Cheers. Let's only hope Giovanni's enemies won't set a target on him, too. It'd be a shame for such a pretty face to go down in history so young."

Noelle raised her glass, "I'll fucking cheers to that." She said with a soft laugh before bringing it to her lips. Today had been long, the funeral and now having to be here. "He was... an interesting man." Noelle didn't have much to talk about the former don, she never did much interacting with him. "His son on the other hand. Crazy. A good fuck too." She said with a lazy shrug, she had no shame, had you seen the man? He was hot. Who cares if he is unhinged. "I guess cheers to the new don as well."

"Ew, someone stepped on my shoe." Noelle rolled her eyes. First, she had to go to the boring ass funeral and now spend her night with a bunch of pathetic gangbangers. "I thought Babylon was supposed to be high-end, who let them in here?" She said pointing at some grungy-looking ghost rider.

Isadora let a small smile grace her lips, but she was in a mood, especially after a glass of fine wine being placed next to her, which made her gracefully dismiss Noelle's words. She'd tried to warn the other at the beginning, but it seemed as if her words haven't been taken into full consideration. "I agree." Isa pulled back her phone, considering inviting Noelle another time to maybe have a look at the piece of art in person. "Do you have any assumptions who that may be?" She mused. "Enlighten me, dear, what are we to prep for? Unless you're talking about the elections. Then I have no say in that, but you better choose wise."

Noelle shrugged, "Pretty sure he saw a pretty woman and painted it." Not that she cared much. The conversation had turned a bit to art for her liking, she didn't actually care much she just wanted to make her house pretty. "A few people have actually. Which brings up your point exactly. It is a distasteful mockery of Moretti." She rolled her eyes, Giovanni was no saint but he was a person, right? Not that she cared about that either. "I mean whatever though. People should be more focused on who is actually smart enough to pull this off and be more worried about the future problems that come with rather than the past. We have so much coming up that we need to prep for." LIke the serpent elections for one.
