shakes u because TO ME that lightheartedness is very comforting to the way i view gran?! as someone whos not very Typical Strong Cool leader-like & does not find any enjoyment in trying to be that either. so while they dont hesitate to join the bully seofon club, theyre relieved to have someone around whos very. seofon. because its a great reassurance that they dont Have to be all serious, no fooling around etc all the time. much respect for seofon all things considered
oh listen, seofon also knows that being a leader is .... a trash experience, it's hard because there's no way to satisfy everyone, so he just goes and becomes his most unhinged self in the most fun way, because the other benefits are:
his enemies underestimate him so taking their sword souls is way easier (nothing like crushing someone's fighting spirit and then taking the literal soul of it???? yikes @ seofon why are you actually terrifying that way)
danchou doesn't fear him (the most important benefit bc u know he adores the captain with his whole heart and soul! and would never want to do anything to make them feel unsafe around him)
he is glad to have gran's respect, and in return, he greatly respects gran! they have so much on their plate, and he wants to help however he can!

so remember when i said i'd write a post about seofon and actual intimacy well here we go (most of it is about the event and seofon and the captain)
seofon is incredibly bisexual but he is also incredibly ... not good at actually getting close to people, which stems from some severe PTSD of losing his parents as a kid- and then being sorta ... an outcast because of his powers. it's stated multiple times that people are AFRAID of the eternals because of their abilities and it's also stated multiple times that seofon is holding back.
other seofon is shown to be able to solo the 6 dragons those are the wedges of reality??? hello???
anyway, so seofon has very little experience being close to people and the eternals are like the few exceptions.
until the captain shows up. and even then, seofon fights the captain because he isn't actually sure what to think until he realizes how good of a person the captain is, and then how accepting and loving they are, and then he starts to fall head over heels.
over the years seofon keeps getting valentines presents and making dumb jokes and he also says shit like he wants to go to estalucia because he wants to be there with the captain to see the sea of stars (which for reference, he has already seen??? he sees it all the time thats why he's so OP, and i really hope cygames unpacks that one bc it implies seofon is Not quite human or that hes actually been to estalucia before bc it's the sea of stars??? sword saint of the sea of stars???) and he's like ... always there when the captain needs him,
and then we get to "seofon has some fun learning some new fighting stuff" and yeah he IS having fun and he actually didn't expect anything to happen other than haha fun and also we have to save the world Again, but nah the offer of "hey let's chill here" goes way further than he expected,
not that he regrets it at all, they sure weren't sumo wrestling ... but now that he's gone that far he has the Big Worry of "oh man what if i fuck this up bad and they just leave" and then there's also the abandonment issues of "what if they find someone better" and he knows there are better options out there, but it's just one more struggle on the list seofon has- he's never been the possessive type but also before this he wasn't possessed by other seofon???
tldr seofon is sorta scared of intimacy and now that he's gone all the way with the person he loves most he's really having a time and the anxiety is there more than ever thanks for coming to my tedtalk

seofon genuinely gets mad whenever he thinks abt ceodric bc damn ... if his life had gone Bad he could've been just like that (also he has other seofon in the back of his mind this is not helping him) and he is just so ... Upset everything sucked there and it also sorta drove it home even more that people are not just envious of the power the eternals have, they're SCARED of it and he doesn't want people to be afraid of the eternals he doesn't want them to be afraid of HIM but it causes all these doubts and considering how his mental state has been going on the steady decline ... yeah.
that was bad times all around he just does the Usual Seofon Thing and smiles so people dont know how fucked up he is over it

he's so overpowered my god and it just keeps going, granblue has done nothing to nerf seofon and they continue to just have him there for when situations are so shitty that no one else can actually deal with them
the fact he used his boundary power against ceodric says something about the phoenix power but also implies that seofon can override immortality using the boundary because he said he'd let ceodric heal the wound if he surrendered ....
we don't actually see seofon use his boundary power much but some other fun examples are when other seofon uses the power to shred his reality and take the power of the alternate six dragons ... which implies seofon can take more than sword souls
he can devour literal pillars of existence, also seofon's connection with not only the boundary but the sea of stars means he ... may know some shit about the original God... we just haven't had an opportunity for him to talk about that in the lore yet but uhhhh
you ever think about how other seofon is just hanging out in the back of seofon's mind and since relink is like a story event but in a different format ... other seofon is doing Something as "the darkness that is cause for concern" i'm genuinely worried for seofon's sanity and i hope he gets a date with the captain before he completely loses his mind
also i hope that if he loses his way that the captain brings him back to the right path... i want them to go to estalucia together and watch the sea of stars... (。•́︿•̀。) i'm begging @ cygames give me some more serotonin

anyway i know its shown seofon is toned during the summer events but im convinced hes actually built like a truck because hes dual wielding gateway-star swords and thats like if cloud could have a buster sword in each hand - seofon uses the other spirit swords like noctis and ardyn use the armiger but
Tumblr media
let's be real here
also seofon is a tailor he can make himself clothes that show off the right things but he also likes looking trim but also understands the strength he needs to keep doing what he's doing with those swords thanks for coming to my tedtalk

theres so much to unpack here. and it's everything from "me in the old, old days" to "you would simply be the newest member to undergo a long-overdue transformation" seofon what the fuck is actually going on and what have you been doing
the stardust town incident is also mentioned in his fate episodes here, and also and you, because he even says that he hears other seofon because he helped out fixing "a problem with the six dragons" also he can now see other timelines because other seofon sends him visions ... hes got divine madness now
i am ... genuinely concerned for his future ...

META + other seofon :)
oh lmao yeah that's also important to address.
so, yes, the rundown for anyone who hasn't experienced ... and you the main plot points are
danchou is sick and everyone is incredibly worried
danchou was raised by orlogia the wedge of time (dragon god of time) and while danchou is sick orlogia decides hey what if i just see what would happen to reality if people chose different paths
logia makes a bunch of simulations and we get to see how things would be supremely fucked up if basically anything other than the current chain of events happened
nectar turns out to be a god too but i guess he left his post and became ambiguous shape and then became the dude we know and love bc he met a girl (to be loved is to be changed)
there is a seofon out there who decided that instead of being a hero of justice he was going to be evil and he destroyed his world by eating the power of the six dragons of that world
and evil seofon (sword saint of the sea of stars) clearly didn't die even tho his timeline went yeet, and now he's inhabiting normal seofon's body like dark bakura
seofon hates this so much. we see time and time again that while seofon may be willing to bend the rules and can be very secretive and it gets him in trouble with his team (see: seeds of redemption, his entire 5* 4th skill episode) he means well. he wants to be a hero of justice and he knows the world sucks so he wants to protect it and make it a world that has hope and joy in it, and he has the power to do that!
god seofon decided that the world was broken so it had to go. so he made it go- it's gone. for those of you who have played fate grand order, god seofon (other seofon) comes from a lostbelt, a timeline that was pruned because basically it failed, but since he is a part of the boundary (a place where all time converges, and also it can be assumed all versions of seofon are part of the boundary, hence his incredible power) he didn't get pruned with his timeline, he just existed in the boundary and logia accidentally released him,
seofon doesn't hold anything against logia for that, it's not like they did it intentionally, they were looking for something that would benefit danchou and let's not forget, seofon loves danchou more than anything (other than the other eternals, but what he feels for the captain is ... how u say ... "i want to go to estalucia with you and we will watch the sea of stars" that sort of vibe rather than the familial bond he shares with the other eternals) so he gets it, but other seofon likes to interfere with how he thinks, and the prime example of that is what i like to call the "id situation."
for those of you who haven't played relink, this is your warning to turn back now because im going to spoil the entire ass plot.
so there's this guy named id, he's a swordsman too, and the tldr is he is also bahamut's vessel. yeah, THE bahamut, the god that just sorta went MIA and leaves his own divine speakers on read. id doesn't fully know how to control the powers he has, and seofon knows that's not GOOD, but he wants to think id is a person who ultimately means well despite having made mistakes, because damn take a look at seox, and also danchou trusts id! but god seofon says "damn if id harnesses the power of bahamut AND the boundary, everything is going to go to hell" and goes on to show seofon a vision of that very scenario- which seofon then says "lmao ok" and tries to brush it off but no, now he has the doubt in his mind, because "almost none isn't none as long as id is alive" so he ... lures id somewhere alone so he can fucking slaughter him Just In Case (for the safety of the skydoms! because god seofon showed him something that basically has a nonzero chance of happening, but nonzero isn't zero and seofon is paranoid now!) ... he doesn't slaughter id, tweyen steps in with the rest of the crew and danchou actually slaps seofon
essentially, other seofon makes it easier for seofon to lose faith in the world. he's also the person seofon would be if he didn't have the other eternals or the captain or any of the bonds he's made, and he KNOWS this and that's the most terrifying thing. because he also knows that sometimes he does things his team doesn't like but he's just being a hero of justice... but if they leave him ... who will stop him from becoming THAT?
other seofon is his reminder that he isn't actually strong enough to stop HIMSELF from being the villain he wants to defend the world against and it is the worst feeling ever. but he can't tell anyone that ... it might make them leave faster and he'd like to try to cling onto what he has ...

ok so i said id write about seofon being an eternal and not being a tailor or pastry chef so here we go
there was in fact a time where he did do these things- rather, a young boy named basilio lived happily with his mother and father in a quiet little town, he learned how to sew from his father and how to cook from his mother, and things were fantastic, until they went to shit,
and by went to shit, i mean the town was raided and went up in flames and his parents were killed, and this is how basilio realized he had some really funky powers, because to defend himself, he put his hands up and suddenly he had a sword that looked just like the one his attacker had,
and then he made his first kill in self defense. after that, he wandered and learned how to actually use swords and closed himself off from others, because he was so scared of connecting to people only to have them die- and also he just decided "hey i'll just pick a new name eventually" because as far as he could mentally handle, basilio died with his parents. oh, and he also learned that the world sucked ass and he really wanted to fix it, so his new quest was to be a hero of justice!
but it's not like he lost any of his other skills, he had to make himself a cool hero outfit and also he had to feed himself often, because he never stayed in one place for long (and somehow he was doing all of this in his early teen years) so he made himself a cool hero coat at least and got some armor and renamed himself "seofon" and somehow learned that the reason he could do such superhuman things was because he was able to access a fun thing called the boundary, which basically made him a god.
he'd later figure out there were other people like him! and he didn't have to be alone, and he could have another family and it would be ok! (ish, because he is always a little paranoid that this good thing he has will turn to dust in his hands) also he met the captain, a singularity, who he fell head over heels for- he just doesn't know how to say it!
tldr is seofon doesn't work as a tailor or a baker because he's supremely traumatized and in his formative years he learned that if someone didn't do something, things were just going to continue to be shitty and people would continue to be hurt and so he had to be (archer EMIYA vc) a hero of justice

[ META ] + what being the leader of the eternals mean to him
oh ok ok here we go
so the eternals are literally just a HUGE FOUND FAMILY and they are sorta dysfunctional at times (often) but somehow they still come together when the world needs them the most, which is fantastic.
seofon created the eternals at first because he was like "damn wouldn't it be cool if i just had a team of badasses" and thats literally like canon dialogue he says to anre, and it's like ... ok seofon, sure, but it's actually more than that
i should make note here that as a person, seofon is incredibly lonely and very traumatized. he's isolated from others not only because he acts like a haughty jerk at times (and then gets teased by literally everyone around him), but because he is in fact the strongest of the eternals, and the eternals are the strongest in their weapon category- and if you factor in versus rising, belial backs out of a fight with anre (with the one rift spear) because basically anre was battling belial to a draw, and not that anre isn't strong, but seofon is the strongest of the eternals and that basically means in general each eternal can stand on par with high up astrals like belial or beelzebub and possibly lucilius,
by the mobile game, seofon's power startled lu woh, who is the wedge of light, a KEY FOUNDATION to reality, and seofon just had to point a sword at lu woh and say "stop trashing danchou" and lu woh fucking stopped. for reference, lu woh also admits that the six dragons can't tell an island from a grain of sand, and when you do any event or interaction with wilnas, he says that he KNOWS his experiences as basically a foundational god of reality are NOT shared by basically anyone so he wants to learn what it's like to be mortal,
yeah seofon's power is actually jarring to the six dragons, that says a lot.
now, imagine that you're a normal person and you learn about a dude who has all that and OH by the way, he can make swords from nothingness and also the boundary is not just a place he draws power from, but he "sees the sea of stars" according to lu woh which sorta points to him being more like logia (an axis) rather than just an overpowered mortal (there's a lot to unpack about seofon) and the only reason he's not an axis is because logia notes that there are other versions of seofon, but in every reality its the same logia (just a different appearance, they can do that) -
anyway, yeah seofon's power alone scares people off, and it's also said that the eternals are both renowned and feared for their powers, and basically seofon said "im tired of being alone, i want people who understand what i'm dealing with and i want them to not feel isolated" so he formed the eternals
he's team dad, he's been shown as team dad across events, and really the eternals mean everything to him. he might not always make the best choices (see: seeds of redemption) but what he does is always with the best interest of both the skydoms and his team at heart. because he doesn't want them to get hurt more than they've already been hurt, heck, feower and tien are literally his adopted siblings (he just said "ok these are mine now" and no one could stop him)
basically being leader of the eternals means being part of a family and that's something he needs, and whether or not the other eternals show up when he calls for them, he is just glad to know they're in his life at all, because honestly he is the "to be loved is to be changed" meme in human form ... he could've been awful if he'd been left alone without bonds to ground him to his humanity....

ok but please know before i passed out yesterday i had the heart wrenching realization that if seofon had a life where he did tailoring and baking then why the fuck is he not just existing in peace and then my brain went "buddy it was probably all violently taken away from him and that's probably when he got firsthand experience seeing swords kill people and also using swords to kill people and now he's traumatized forever" and i'm MISERABLE you all have to suffer with me and i WILL write a bigger meta on seofon's quiet childhood and how everything then went to shit (he's only 27 and things are not great)

relink fate episode for seofon referencing and you ... i love that
nothing like having your evil alter ego slowly fucking with your mind all because logia did some fun tests...
seofon describes other seofon as "me where i made vastly different choices" yeah that's a nice way of putting it. other seofon is literally evil he ate the proto six dragons and became a god????
bestie i don't think it's id you need to worry about having god power and the power from the boundary, it's YOURSELF

happy sunday seofon has literally no relationship experience but he's good at pretending he's had some! he's charming and carefree and he's a hard worker- honestly the fact he hasn't is because people are actually sorta scared of the eternals for their power- also sometimes seofon says shit that maybe he shouldn't say, but his fumbling is endearing... there's literally nothing spicy about this post because he's never been in a spicy situation.... but he'd like to be...

seofon is 5'10 (not counting the extra fluffy strands of his hair) but he acts like he's 6'4 that's the only way i can describe this.
also no, he's not compensating for anything with all the swords, he just likes swords thanks for asking

idk if anyone ever really thinks about the fact that the existence of other seofon says so much about who seofon could've been- like everyone's having a fine and dandy time talking about what they would've done with their lives if they hadn't been eternals but then there's seofon dissociating hardcore because the real problem is
he would've been just like other seofon.
the whole power corrupts statement is true, seofon is still young (27) even if he gets teased for his age, and for all his experience, he's still got so much to learn- and with all his power, he was always isolated, and so who was there to teach him about morals? he saw the world and was like "this sucks" and then said "i'm going to fix it because i can do that. i have the power to do that" and his tactic at first was not just stealing sword souls.
seofon was a terror to deal with; he had the power to rend the skies and he could access that power just whenever the hell he wanted to with basically no backlash. no one could stand in his way. in ... and you he even points his sword at lu woh, the wedge of light, and by logia's simulations, other seofon is literally a god, even with his world gone he was able to ... uh. make his way into seofon's mind.
seofon having a team and a friend (siero) and just people to be around is literally what keeps him from being just as awful as other seofon. his power extends beyond just stealing sword souls, it's shown that he has the potential to steal the essences of the wedges, that's what other seofon did- like goddamn????
seofon knows he could be like that. he doesn't want that. he's terrified of becoming that person, but he never tells anyone because he doesn't want that to drive them away, and he's trying so hard to not be alone, because he knows what will happen if he is

seofon likes to pretend he's popular but actually he has one friend and it's siero. he's been getting info from her about everything for a while, he always turns to her when he has no one else to turn to- which is often.
but he also has an image to uphold, so he pretends he's this well loved hero- and in a sense he is a loved hero. he's more than capable of eliminating threats in the skies, and a lot of skydoms are grateful for his help- but that doesn't mean he's popular or has friends.
with how powerful he is, people are often afraid of him, so he tries to act lighthearted to counteract that, but this also has caused his own team to question his leadership skills, and it's shown that they don't really have much respect for him in most situations.
the tldr of this is seofon is lonely and he just wants to be able to fit in with a group and that's not easy being who he is. the fact he has ANY bonds beyond siero is actually what keeps him rather tethered to his morality, because if he was fully isolated, he'd just act on every intrusive thought, and we all know how that goes (see: another seofon from ... and you)

ok first meta has to be about seofon and his views on the captain
and by this, i mean seofon adores the captain with his entire heart and soul, but he doesn't know how to properly express it. as we all have seen, seofon has a tendency to open his mouth and insert his foot- prime examples are white day and valentine's events, and clearly his incompetence at this sort of thing just makes it absolutely impossible for him to actually get his actual feelings across.
the captain is someone who has a great amount of power, and beyond that, they have POTENTIAL. seofon is by far the most powerful human in the skydoms and it shows- he's always a trump card when no one else can do the job (that's shown across events), and his fun little gimmick on top of his ability to just hang around at the boundary is to take sword souls- which means eliminating threats without actually killing people, unless he absolutely has to.
the captain is someone who could very well be a threat, but seofon wants to believe that he'll never have to turn his power on the captain because he adores them. because they've shown such strength of character, too- and he's sure never felt like that ever before in his life. seofon wants to be there to travel with the captain because he wants to see them grow and he wants to share experiences and be part of their journey and he genuinely hopes that the captain will come to care about him as much as he cares about them thanks for coming to my tedtalk
