I've been getting a lot of asks about the various futures of the characters in this setting, specifically Class 1-A. So I thought it'd be fun to mix them all up together and toss in some headcanons about the various students in the future. And yes, I will change some of the hero names and titles to what I believe are better versions. Because I like to think that someone from the Management Course got to these kids before they went public.
The Fresh-Picked Hero, Vineyard: Rank: 100s to 150s Specialization: Defense Popular Product: Sticky purple orb toys that you can throw around.
Mineta eventually grew to a more decent of a hero. He learned to properly apply himself rather than coasting on what little talent he had and worked to put on a brave face when fighting villains. He was hoping his growth would improve his image with the ladies. It did not.
The Super Sweet Hero, Sugar Ray: Rank: 100s to 150s Specialization: Combat Popular Product: A line of sweets designed and endorsed by Sato himself.
In spite of his brutish power and appearance, Sato found himself loved among old folks and housewives that loved the recipes he came up with. He'd always spare his treats with anyone he helped in his hero work, always brightening the spirits of anyone he came across.
The Taping Hero, Cellophane: Rank: 100s to 150s Specialization: Recon Popular Product: A brand of tape supposedly based on Sero's own tape.
While never the most popular or successful hero, Sero was always the most approachable one of the class, remaining down to Earth in spite of his past and lifestyle. This ended up making him more of the "working man's hero", finding fans in blue-collar workers. His power may have played a part in this.
The Fighting Hero, Martial: Rank: 100s to 150s Specialization: Combat Popular Product: A line of fur coats inspired by his tail and costume.
Ojiro was never going to be a popular hero, yet found a hardcore audience in niche communities. He would go on to found several dojos that would help young heroes learn how to apply themselves as marital artists, with or without their Quirks, and would accept many of them as his sidekicks.
The Unseen Heroine, Ultraviolet: Rank: 100s to 150s Specialization: Recon Popular Product: A shoe line inspired by the ones from her costume.
In spite of the massive controversy when she appeared on the hero scene because of her power, Hagkaure has taken to stealth-focused hero work well. Still, she tries to gain as much attention as possible as not to be left in the background. Surprisingly, this does not interfere with her work since no one ever sees it coming.
The Petting Hero, Anima Rank: 100s to 150s Specialization: Rescue Popular Product: A playset featuring various animals Koda works with, including little information cards on them.
While Koda had a role in the Heteromorphic moment, he found himself far more preoccupied with animal protection and conversation, working to endorse several zoos and sanctuaries. The once shy boy found his voice in sharing his love of animals. He remains popular with young children.
The Tentacle Hero, Sixth Sense: Rank: 50s to 60s Specialization: Recon Popular Product: A mask and headpiece set resembling Shoji's costume.
True to his word, Shoji helped foster and repair the relations with the Heteromorphs. He worked tirelessly as the public face of the movement and as the hero who would help deal with cases of Heteromorph related crimes. In time, Shoji started to feel like he didn't needed to hide his scars.
The Illustrious Hero, Rayonnant: Rank: 100s to 150s Specialization: Combat Popular Product: A clothing line heavily inspired by his own fabulous wardrobe and costume.
In spite of his flashy looks and grandiose persona, Aoyama was always one of the more empathic heroes. He would always help encourage "lost causes", becoming an icon and true hero for those that felt alone and afraid. He wanted to make sure they all grew to shine as bright as he did.
The Astonishing Hero, Paradigm: Rank: 100s to 150s Specialization: Recon Popular Product: A toy version of his masks that distorts your voice.
Preferring to stay away from the limelight, both for himself and his Quirk, Shinso made a valuable underground hero for the world at large. He's been immensely helpful in deescalating dangerous situations and assisting police in doing wet work to gather evidence. In spite of that, he never once felt like a villain.
The Stun Gun Hero, Chargebolt: Rank: 70s to 80s Specialization: Combat Popular Product: A toy version of his disk launcher and glasses
While not as lazy as he was in his youth, Denki still takes a laid back attitude to hero work and tends to treat it more like celebrity work. Less out of any selfish desire and more that he's surprisingly good at that part of it, especially with teenagers. Still does little electrical shows and short circuits himself sometimes at the request of fans.
The Hearing Heroine, Treblemaker: Rank: 20s to 30s Specialization: Rescue Popular Product: Various musical equipment themed after her, especially headphones and musical toys.
After her injury, Jiro focused less on hero work as a whole. While she still went out and landed her ear when she was needed, she instead used it as a platform to prop up her music to a resounding success. She'd often use her music and concerts to help raise money and attention to disaster areas she had worked in. Eri has been and always will be her biggest fan.
The Alien Heroine, Pinky: Rank: 10s to 20s Specialization: Combat Popular Product: Various health and beauty products, especially skin care ones.
It's been said by her fans that Mina was built to be a hero. And they'd be right. Between her flashy power and friendly personality, she quickly gained a following and shot up the ranks. She remains a fan favorite among the crowds, earning the fan name of Alien Queen. Tends to gossip a lot about her fellow heroes and causes undue drama.
The Sturdy Hero, Red Riot: Rank: 20s to 30s Specialization: Defense Popular Product: As much as Kirishima wants it to be his workout equipment and videos, it's his hair care products.
Kirishima became a noble and courageous hero, always being the first to run into whatever danger was in his way. In spite of his simple ability, his overall brand helped him garner the attention he deserved. He became an icon for young men around the state, inspiring them to be brave, to improve, and to protect the ones they love.
The Everything Hero, Refine: Rank: 5s-15s Specialization: Support Popular Product: A junior chemistry set that actually taught quite a bit about chemistry.
While never at the front of any one operation, Momo's plays a pivotal role in organizing and planning many operations, both big and small, and is considered the resident "mastermind" among the heroes. When she isn't doing that, she is assisting Uraraka, helping to provide the resources for needed to help those who can't afford the needed support equipment.
The Jet-Black Hero, Tsukuyomi: Rank: 10s to 20s Specialization: Combat Popular Product: Various plushies designed after Dark Shadow
In the shadows of the night, this dark hero would strike out giving all villains a true terror for the dark beast inside him. Yes, Tokoyami is still a massive dork. His own phrase of "Revelry in the Dark" became his catchphrase in the public eye, especially among his massive chunibyo fan base, much to his embarrassment. He thinks he could have come up with something cooler.
Rainy Season Hero: Froppy Rank: 100s-150s Specialization: Rescue Popular Product: A collection of Froppy themed water accessories, like goggles and water guns.
Tsuyu still patrols the coastline with her sidekicks, the Tadpoles, searching for anyone in need. While her niche work keeps her from the limelight, she is still extremely popular with small children. This is helpful whenever she helps Uraraka with her Quirk Counseling endeavors, helping to educate younger children on the matter.
The Turbo Hero, Ingenium Rank: 10s to 20s Specialization: Combat Popular Product: An Ingenium themed car for the action figure to drive around, much to Iida's confusion.
As Tenya grew older, he began to mellow out more, becoming more like the man Tensei was than the man Tenya thought he was. Still, he holds himself and his sidekicks to the high standards of the Ingeium family name. Hopes to instill those values in the younger generation and works extensively with Uraraka with her efforts in Quirk Counseling.
The Lighthearted Heroine, Uraravity Rank: 20s to 30s Specialization: Rescue Popular Product: A series of space themed toys based around a space mission storyline her brand did.
Uraraka went on to participate in and champion the act of Quirk Counseling. She helped to push for the implementation and personalization of the process across many schools. She wanted to make sure that no one would feel hatred for the Quirk and would regularly go around to help teach kids to understand and accept their Quirks.
Great Explosion Murder God, Dynamight: Rank: 5s-15s Specialization: Combat Popular Product: Toys inspired by his bracers that light up and shoot out plastic darts.
Ever the firecracker, Bakugou remains a solo hero through and through. He fails at having any real media presence and is well known for his tumultuous relationship with the press. Still, he remains one of the most impressive heroes in terms of incidents solved and time spent patrolling. Tends to take in "troubled kids" and whip them into shape as his sidekicks.
The Thermal Hero, Shoto Rank: 5s-15s Specialization: Combat Popular Product: A limited edition model based off of his first costume.
Shoto became the pro hero he was always meant to be, moving on from the shadow of his family. However, in spite of his time and dedication, his public image keeps him from the higher rankings. He still cannot talk to people to save his life, and the awkward interviews are legendary in the hero fan community. Still manages to rank high among the "Hottest Heroes" listing.
The Greatest Hero, Deku: Rank: ??? Specialization: Combat Popular Product: A short-lived action figure from his time as a hero. It is considered a high-value item that any fan would kill for.
Deku's time away has led to endless speculation on what happened to him and why he left. However, with his big splash back on the hero scene, he's made huge waves in the hero world and is fully expected to shoot up the ranks. Many fans watch on in excitement to see what will come next of the young hero. Though for him, he's still eager to help teach his adoring students.

The Potential of Meta (ε)
art by @ehhgg-art
So after watching Restoration, I wanted to talk about Tucker being Epsilon Meta or Meta (ε). First is the execution of the character. Tucker being an unwilling host, of the fragments and being forced to do to their bidding, was great. as well as him trying to resist and fight them off. But the fact that Tucker being made to be a fighter on the level of Carolina and Tex (bare in mind this is due to ai's but still) was great. And his undoing being the fact that the R&B are so unpredictable was perfect. However, I do find the choice of having Miles voice his Meta self, instead of Jason to be a bit weird. Meta Tucker for all intense purposes draws a similar vain to Felix. Miles voicing him while controlled contributes to this but the fact that the Meta talks at all, and he comes off as cocky, and menacing just matches Felix's vibe. Which leads to my biggest problem, the missed opportunity.
art by hipstersoulgushers-art
Tucker didn't get to interact with the Reds and Blues enough, the biggest obstacle with fighting Meta(ε) was that it was Tucker, It made the Reds and Caboose not want to fight their friend or not have a good chance of beating him, combined with his ability to speak as the Meta(ε) he could have came at the Red's and Blue's, verbally and physically destroying them, and just when it looks like Meta(ε) was going to far Tucker steps in like he did with Caboose. That and he didn't get to interact with all of the Reds and Blues. I would've loved to see interact Meta(ε) interact with:
Freelancers: For Wash would've been a battle of the student versus the mentor, and it could've set up Doc dying to save Wash, leading to all the stuff that happen to Wash in Restoration. For Carolina it could've played a role with her being the one to track down Meta(ε) feeling responsible for what happened, it also could lead to Meta(ε) shit talking Carolina with Tucker's more unruly traits. Reds: We could've had Tucker attacking the Reds verbally. He could've came at Simmons, since he had the arc in Restoration, saying that Grif and Simmons were useless on Chrous or make some subtle jabs at there situation. Dismantling Lopez, hell maybe thinking he killed Donut only for him to comeback later contributing to the running gag.
Sister: This is the romantic in me but it would've been so interesting to see how Sister would've reacted to Meta(ε), Ik, the Shinso trilogy is no longer canon but still there's potential with this
Locus: This one is more a of a fan favorite what-if but it would've been cool to see Meta(ε) fight Locus since there has yet to be a sword fight in RvB and it would've been dope. Locus seeing the Meta in action but realizing how Meta(ε) acts like Felix.
art by blueteamjax
I know Sigma plays the biggest role with Meta, but god damn, I wish we got to see Delta and Theta interact with them more, like a moment where there in Tucker's mind and Delta and Theta are talking to him, and Tucker sees how much Theta reminds him a little of Caboose, or starts acting like a dad to him similar to North. but also How the Ai's use Felix as a manipulation tactic. I said it before that Meta(ε) reminded me of Felix' so it would've been great for them to base there persona, off of them Felix wanted to be the ultimate weapon, an Tucker no being that draws interesting parellel's. This is all I really had cooking in my mind. But I kinda wish Restoration was a full season because oh man, if this was made during the Shinso Trilogy and Burnie and Miles wrote it we would've been eating good.

my favorite mha headcannons
some of these are actually headcannons or fanons
Bakugo: he's fully deaf in one ear and losing hearing in the other, he hates wearing his hearing aids but he's begun to reluctantly do so more regularly. only a couple of people know this though: deku, kirishima, mina, and denki. he started learning JSL in private, but once deku noticed a JSL workbook in the corner of his room and insisted they learn together. bkg doesn't know that kiri, mina, and denki have all secretly started learning JSL as well so that bkg doesn't have to wear his hearing aids all the time.
Deku: Deku runs a hero analysis blog under an alias. He maintains a pretty okay following and he alllllllways reblogs stuff about Hawks, All Might, and Dynamight. He loves writing meta posts on heroes and their quirks/strengths/weaknesses. He has no idea that a couple of people in class also know about his blog & he most definitely doesn't know that Kacchan knows about it. Shinsou regularly reblogs Deku's stuff onto his own blog, but has no idea it's Deku.
Shinso: Shinso and Bakugo are actually really good friends but neither of them would ever admit it to anyone. It's because Shinso is always up in the common room from the night before and Bakugo is always up at the ass crack of dawn to run. They sit in the common room together in the dark & sip their coffee together. Shinso started making Bakugo his coffee after a little while. Bakugo always complains that Shinso makes it wrong, but it's actually the best coffee Bkg has ever had.
Shoto: Shoto runs a conspiracy YouTube channel. He never shows his face and he uses a voice modulator to mask his voice. His username is @/fuckendeavor though, so pretty much everyone in Class A knows it's him. He uses Endeavor's credit card to go on shopping sprees with Deku and Ochaco on the weekends. Deku and Bakugo have been trying to teach him how to play video games since he never got to growing up. He's really bad at them.
that's all for now, but im sure i have more somewhere. special shoutout to all of the fics that inspired so many of my headcanons:

Huh, so you're saying that people are starting to actually criticize Bakugo's real character since the canon is over? I guess the best time to reread(or actually read) the manga is when it's over and I guess the shock of what actually happened versus what they though had happen in their minds due to fanfics is what is increasing the Bakugo critique. I wonder if the reason why criticism against Bakugo weren't as mainstream was due to his fangirls artificially making him seem alot more popular and well-like than he actually is. With a lot of fan content using Bakugo, new fans coming in via the fandom would like Bakugo as a lot better character than he actually is. Though I won't argue that Bakugo has extremely good character design for both his school uniform and hero costume. It's just that he was written badly and appears in way more stuff than he's supposed to.
While we all know that Bakugo is the author's pet, I would not be surprised if the reason why Horikoshi wrote him the way he did was due to the popularity polls. Given that we know that Bakugo Stans and fangirls were practically cheating the polls, it's possible that Bakugo's natural popularity was in the top five or ten, which probably would give him more rest than being "number 1". Because he was "number 1", Horikoshi went into a feedback loop that "encouraged" him to use Bakugo in way more scenes, which really didn't help Bakugo nor the other characters' character at all.
Actually, do you think that Aizawa and Shinso will have more critiques as well as people recognize the characters who they truly are? Aizawa is a lazy and bad teacher that once you experience such a teacher compared to a competent one or even value education, you truly understand how bad Aizawa was in those beginning chapters. And then there's Shinso who people recognize that he was such a wimp and coward that he shouldn't just be given the Hero seat(usually replacing Mineta) without training and justification. Even then, it's probably better to rewrite such characters to better fit the story and reduce their negative story qualities so that the overall story isn't burden for who they are.
So the real question is, which character of the next new anime/manage will be in the same position as Bakugo? We won't know until it happens.
You are completely right. I think that many of the fan works, both meta and drawings, portray Bakugou as a nice boy with a tough exterior. A tsundere really, when in reality... he's just a dick. So like I said, people who wait until the manga is over to read don't have the sort of bias or confusion over fanon vs canon sort of thing. But they also come in with expectations, and they don't hit because the fans overhype characters, or like again, base their ideas on fanon way more than canon.
I have said that before. Horkoshi was very much encouraged to hyper focus on Bakugou and include him in everything. And one part of me is going like, you know, fair. The money he got is worth shelling out a bit. But he could have given Bakugou a proper redemption... except Horikoshi might have tried and shot shut down hard.
I will acknowledge hes not a geat writer (something proven so much more since starting Dungeon Meshi and rewatching FMAB) but I kind of hope he knew better.
As for others, I actually have seen an uptick in Aizawa and Shinsou critical stuff over positive stuff. Like over the last few years, it has been abundantly obvious people are taking an extra look at things.
Aizawa, I think we're supposed to be the Kakashi mentor, but Horkoshi tried too hard? And like forgot he isn't giving us the lore to explain things? Like, okay, so he expelled the kids and let them back in. What about the black marks? Is it okay that they go this? Because, like in Naruto, we know they go back and do another year. They only have that setback. With MHA, we aren't told that, yeah it's a common thing, we don't give them actual black marks on their records.
Plus, Aizawa doesn't really show himself sensitive in the first bit. Kakashi I actually do see a bit of softness early on or more care then you'd expect. However, Aizawa takes a bit and it's really easy to get the impression he is a horrific person.
And I've seen way more Shinsou critical pieces over the last few years than not. He went through the cycle of fandom baby to badass to suddenly being annoying because he was in every fic. I got tired of him myself because it was the same fic over and over again with him. However, I find most fics with him as a bad guy totally trash his character. He's a guy who talked a big game but relied to much on the things that he said others did. IE, he wanted to coast on his Quirk like he says everyone else does.
They make him into like an actual monster, worse then anyone and it just feels so wrong. Like if you want to make him antagonistic fine but holy shit that is a level I can't do.
On a positive note, I think we'll get more Good Parent All Might. Because, like, yeah, his bad moment early on is resolved later on, and he shows he isn't really a bigot, he was just a guy who couldn't see past his hurt.

Do I dare think it: Saralegui's old quest of spotting patterns and getting power and being actually excellent at what he does just think about the background made up of the first 4 volumes i say this as a fan but this is horror has factually surreptitiously ended when canon happens (actually when Carolia Arc happens)--and not even snapped but has achieved a visible ending though not one he's had in mind--and he actually has a lot of free time/agency on hand from being freed up from that box-finding-efficiency and that free time is the next journey.
Yes I say free time. Not even the freedom of making choices about the future outside of any influence from other wills and persons, which is secretly only getting to become my privately reached conclusion this year (slow reader. though I finally managed time-that-counts to finish the jpn canon! congrats to self) on where the canon might be headed.
Still can't get over how Yuu-chan's skillset is entirely order made from Shinou (which means Thematic and which means possibly Saralegui as the other side might also have something along these lines, which would very well likely be what has the chance to have been planned between Alazon and Gilbert. You can definitely see e.g. none of these 2 are thinking about other heirs: the twins being human-shinzoku/shinzoku-human is entirely plot-important, and also not just what the twins themselves have in mind cf. MA-Song.) which certainly means Shinou is really trying to do something unthinkable (not in a bad sense), like getting meta and not treating Yuu-chan's people skills as the amiable, peaceful bless it is but something to wash the world off what he doesn't think should be there with. Like what happens and is a bit likely to be taken seriously by Saralegui and maybe so forced into reality in MA-Box.
Somehow I don't think that's above or beneath Shinou. He would have very thinking-out-of-the-box-no-i-was-never-in-the-box capacities, being the shinso of mazokus/chaotic aligners + also being plausibly good at war (at least very drawn to war). Down the line it could very well be the reader's heart being torn between "OK Shinou does his war and not even in a way Kenja would object to so this is good...?" and "but kindness is not seen as kindness but so Used from somewhere above the board that's bound to be something not too good....?". With Yuu-chan's views and reactions being what might resolve the whole dilemma (I trust sensei).
But ofc all assumptions, and not to be taken too seriously. Except by me...this haunts me....
#mutters to self#i'm losing touch with how tumblr should be used#i'm sorry maybe just bear with me this doesn't come up very often#come to think there's a lot to post about before writing this down#like how i'm dreading the way i seem to be heading in understanding what part Sara plays in the whole book#and the possibly wrong understandings themselves#always a problem if you have something you don't necessarily stand on in a week or so to write about#no i mean me#would love to know how everyone else does this#kkm#Shinou#Saralegui?

Meta; Headcanon: Rangiku’s Bankai | Suisane no Tanebi: Haineko | Waning Essence of Embers, Ash Cat
“I am ash… from your fire.”
I was convinced for the longest time that Rangiku would never achieve bankai and while I am still of mind that it is not her main objective; her notion of wanting to achieve it has changed. Back in EBTR, when Isshin insinuates that Toushiro will be the next captain of the Tenth, Rangiku protests; she knows that to be a captain (outside of the 11th), one must have the ability to achieve bankai. This shows that she is of the mindset that eventually she’ll achieve bankai because there is a slight notion that she’d ultimately be a captain one day. However, the idea of wanting to be a captain is quickly thrown out the window after Isshin’s disappearance.
As the vice-captain, she would have been the acting captain until Toushiro would have assumed the rank – I believe the two of them work more so in tandem than sole responsibilities falling upon Rangiku, but this gives her a glimpse at what being a captain could be like she decides that it isn’t for her. This puts her bankai training much more on the back burner of things until the events of the main storyline of Bleach. It is after the events of TYBW and Toushiro’s sacrifice/loss of his bankai that she decides that she needs to become more diligent about trying to achieve Haineko’s bankai.
However, Haineko isn’t exactly onboard with the notion. As her zanpakuto is more acutely aware of damage to her soul than she is; without the knowledge of what was done but much of Haineko’s laziness, moodiness and self-centered attitude is a way to deflect her from pushing her too hard. Not knowing what might happen to her, should she bear too much burden from achieving her bankai upon her fractured soul. However, for the notion of discussing what I headcanon as Rangiku’s bankai, I’m going to speculate that eventually, Rangiku is able to convince Haineko to work with her on achieving her bankai.
The concept that I constructed back in March of 2021 is similar in concept to the fourth idea in this linked video – with some differences. First, upon the release of her bankai, a small circle of fire rapidly extends outwards in all directions, quickly reducing everything in its path to ashes – for without fire there are no ashes. The new finer ashes of Haineko are quickly dispersed into the air and are controllable just as they are within her shikai. While Haineko’s ashes can be easily blasted/blown away in the shikai state, this is still possible but due to the volume of ashes it can reassemble or build back much faster than in her shikai. Most enemies at this point will assume that her bankai is just a glorified display of her shikai and won’t take her actions seriously. After all, she’s fighting without a sword.
But this is where the truly sinister part of the bankai comes into play, for the whole-time that she has had her bankai released, her enemy has been breathing in the ashes. The longer her enemy is enveloped within Haineko’s ashes the more deadly her bankai becomes in the long run; for all she needs to do is snap her fingers and her ashes will violently rip out from her enemy’s body. This essentially could be a one-hit kill depending on the individual’s strength, durability, and depending on the length of times they have been breathing her ashes. Additionally, this action can be compounded upon, the stronger the individual, the snap could simply begin to rip apart their lungs, making it so the longer they continue they’ll eventually choke upon their own blood, if she doesn’t snap her fingers again and end their suffering. This is also a slight callback and play on Gin’s bankai, that a piece of Shinso can poison an unsuspecting enemy due to its ability to turn into ashes/particles for a split second.
Now, there are some limitations and some hinderances to her bankai – until she has gained full mastery over it the space in which she can burn is limited to around 50 yards. However, the ashes are not limited to that space, they can and do travel with her. However, the biggest issue with her bankai is that it is not limited to affecting just enemies, it also affects friends and herself. Once she has mastery, she could be able to differentiate between who is affected but until then friend or foe would be at risk. As for her, the effects of her bankai are minor even prior to mastery, unless she is enveloped within the ashes for an extremely long period of time.
The reason I love this concept for Rangiku is that it is a literal smokescreen. Rangiku is so often dismissed due to her outward nature of laziness, but not when it comes to her fights. She is serious, she is a tactician, she’s strong, capable and shouldn’t be counted out. Her bankai would be dismissed as nothing of importance, not strong, not dangerous, but where as her serious, capable, destructive, powerful nature is hidden behind a lazy bombshell – so too is her bankai’s ability!

Finally watched Restoration here's my thoughts!:
Soo first of all HOW DARE THEY NOT HAVE DONUT. All they could do is add him in a gag?? I mean it was funny, I love cheerleader Donut but they should have had him for the final episode. Especially for Sarge. I don't really know where he went Doc mentioned him but that's it. Were they not able to get Dan to come back? Donut could have at least showed up at the end and Simmons could have explained what happened idk. Also what exactly happened to Doc anyway? It wasn't until Carolina said something that I realized he was dead? I guess he died at Chorus so maybe everything past Chorus was non-cannon? I guess nothing really tied into the Blues and Reds or the Shinso Paradox. So I think that's the biggest problem is that it's a bit confusing I don't know what's canon and what's not and what we should take into account. Burnie did what he could with what he had but he could of worked it a bit better(*cough**cough* Donut) Also wish they explored Tucker a bit more like he went through a traumatic experience and they barely explored past him coming back, maybe he could of been the one to stall Meta so Tex could retrieve the AIs. It was also a bit slow overall. Ok enough gripe, I loved how it all wrapped around! Sarge's death literally broke me😭😭 At first I honestly thought it was going to be some sort of gag which I'm glad it wasn't (because I felt like that would have ruined the moment) Sarge going back to save Caboose, giving Simmons leadership and admitting he always liked Grif was so sweet, yes a bit sappy, but the titual RvB sweet. Also CHEX!! They are the Hetero couple ever!! I love them so much it's stupid! I'm so glad they got to be together again even if it was in a Marvel level set-up lol. And I'm glad Carolina showed up I was so scared she wasn't going to, it was driving me crazy not seeing her with Wash. Which why did she leave him exactly? I know they wanted the big reveal when she showed up to help fight, but she would not have left Wash alone imo. I think the fights where good, a bit all over the place at times but fun overall. Anyway Caboose is the best character fr, also Micheal did a good job with his voice ! I don't think Tucker will leave, since Caboose would be alone, it would be cool it they showed us that but whatever. I'm glad Grif was able to leave, he deserves a rest, I like to believe that like Geoff he's chilling and making a podcast with the other reds :) (tho urm Grif and Simmons should have kissed🙄) I HOPE THEY SEE EACH OTHER AGAIN!! I also loved the Lucifur cameo, he was so cute, I wonder who's cat that is in reality? I think I'll give Restoration a 3.5/4 out of 5 not perfect but I'm so glad I watched it! A big big thank you to the team and Rooster Teeth in general I'm glad it was able to grow and advance for 21 years. Rest in peace RvB and RT let your inspiration live on and I can't wait to see what each employee accomplishes in the near future. This right here really is why we're here, Thank you❤️💙

Spoiler Warning for My Hero Academia and the spinoff series Vigilantes. Though if you got this far in the post you’re already fine with it
The only Truely sentient quirk I can think of is OFA and Dark Shadow but for this I’m also gonna pull in Twice’s clones and Nedzu.
Japan as seen in MHA is SO full of prejudice (even taking into account our skewed POV). You got the garbage that was Aldera that seemed to show how at least some quirkless are treated, the Meta Liberation Army, Anti-mutant sentiment (particularly in rural areas), Overhauls weirdness (though that seems more localized and tied to his quirk drawback it’s worth mentioning), hero worship (as seen with Endeavors quick forgiveness, even after his abuse came out), sexism (seen in Minetas existence and the differences between male and female hero outfits, roles in combat, and gender ratio in the police and hero industry), villainous quirks (seen in Toga and Shinso), and above all Might Makes Right (as seen all throughout the show). So this is not a world that is unwilling ignore a few rights.
I really Truely believe that sentient or not, quirks and quirk byproducts are not considered to be people, which is seen somewhat in Dark Shadow but far more notably in Twice and Nomus.
Twice is able to make clones, and these things are 100% sentient, to the point his whole character arc is based on the fear that he’s just a clone of his original. This is a known thing. The clones act like their own people and have personalities based on their template, something figured out almost immediately. And what do the hero’s do once they realize these are made from quirks instead of original born people? Kill them without hesitation. Aizawa first tries to catch one before it reveals itself as a copy so Twice can make another. Later Vlad manages to subdue and capture another and instead of leaving the completely incapacitated clone Aizawa stomps it to death in front of his coworker and students, with just a simple mention that it’s a clone and everyone moves on to threat assessment. HE WAS WILLING TO CAPTURE BEFORE. This man’s entire character was based on the idea of someone unflinchingly rational, and he didn’t see a problem with murder as long as it’s a quirk. This gets even more extreme later on when Twice figures out Sad Man’s Parade (cloning himself and clones making more clones). He’s making THOUSANDS of clones now. And they ALL display intelligence, personality, and emotions. These are people. And they’re slaughtered in the thousands by hero’s, villains, and indirectly by Twice himself. See, Twice NEVER cloned himself oit of fear of uprising and cause he might not be the original, after some panic and finding out he was? Immediately fine making more. More than fine actually, Estatic. He mass produces more of himself with the express purpose of overwhelming with sheer numbers. Hundreds, possibly thousands of lives thrown as kindling cause he was the original and they weren’t. And it’s not like they were reliant on him, Twice has already had a clone uprising before and never seemed worried about any of them going to far away from him, they just didn’t leave cause why would they? They were just clones.
While Twice was by far the most extreme example, Nomu are in a similar boat. They’re people. Mutated, brain dead, monstrous people, but still people. But they’re still killed like pests. Now this one can get a pass cause the only real deaths we see are thanks to Stain (a known killer) and Endeavor (who was protecting a whole city). Still, there was no hesitation there. Even with the most dangerous villains the country had seen, they were still allowed to live. Stain, AFO, Muscular, Overhaul, they were all allowed to to live even when they threatened the security of the nation. Now once again they get a bit of leeway here since the original Nomu was never killed, but after we got confirmation it was a result of quirks and drugs it was never mentioned again and future Nomu were treated as killable rather than villains.
Next up is OFA which is 100% a sentient quirk, 6 times over. This one’s not super relevant cause the wider world never comments on it, but in the recent final showdown the vestiges Are treated as expendable to get a hit off on Shigaraki. Not a solid example but as one of the few sentient quirks in the show it needs to be brought up.
Nedzu is worth bringing up as well here. He doesn’t have a sentient quirk per se but he does have sentience granted by a quirk, granting him a similar status. From what we’re shown he doesn’t seem to face any immediate challenges to his personhood, but his backstory is suggested to involve heavy experimentation, possible torture, and, while I can’t remember if it was canon or canon, a long battle for recognized sentience. We also see sentient quirked animals treated similarly to Twice’s clones in the spinoff Vigilante series with 2 of their main antagonists being a sentient bee/wasp hive and a lab creation of AFO. While the lab creation isn’t relavent here seeing as its status as a creation is never revealed to the larger cast, it is worth mentioning it’s one of the few characters in both series to die. The insect is in a similar boat with the larger public not knowing its status but it is still hunted down and killed by our protagonists who are very big on the whole “morally good hero” thing (minus one but they have backstory and the others are still all for murder as long as it’s a big with thoughts and feelings and not a person).
Next quirk is Dark Shadow, which is the Prime Example of a sentient quirk. It’s where we got the name, the idea, everything. If we want an idea of how sentient quirks are treated in everyday life that’s our bird. So how it our favorite little crow treated? Not Well™️. Dark Shadow Doesn’t have friends. Tokoyami has friends. Dark Shadow doesn’t do well in the sports festival. Tokoyami overrelied on HIS quirk but did well in the festival. Tsuyu, Tokoyami, and Dark Shadow don’t finish their test. Tsuyu and Tokoyami do. The only person I can remember Ever acknowledging Dark Shadow was Tokoyami himself, and even then just as an extension of himself. A part that he needs to control and make use of. So day to day quirks aren’t really seen as their own person, just a part of their original (the same is seen to a lesser degree with Twice since his clones are only seen as “Twices clones” not “clones from Twice”)
So yeah, that’s the basic info we can get from canon with minimal extrapolation, but it’s easy to build off of that. Quirks and quirk byproducts aren’t people and as such don’t have the rights of such, even compared to the likes of AFO.
Sorry for the ramble and any misinformation, it’s been a hot second since I reread the manga and I didn’t organize or plan this out ahead of time.
My WIP fairy hates me. But like... in that homoerotic Nemesis sorta way, I swear.
Cease an desist, woman! (I scream into the void, knowing damn well she, being my own brain, SHAN'T.)
Cause NOW? Now I CAN NOT stop Pondering, with a Capitol P, the life of a Sentient Quirk. The trials and tribulations. The indignities and sufferings. Countless micro-aggression and out right dismissal of sentience. The reduction to the EXTENSION of another.
You are not a person.
You are JUST a Quirk.
An organ that "thinks" itself separate, in the way knees spasm when struck just so. The child you are attached to just needs to get better CONTROL of you. Your words and actions are actually THEIRS. You are simultaneously an unruly animal and strange adult, not allowed near other peoples children.
Why are you trying to follow this four year old into their school? Why are you SITTING out side a pre-school? Are you stalking that child?
You are a grown adult. Connected to a random Japanese child.
The child is expected to "control" you.
Punished if they do not.
No one is listen to EITHER of you, as you try to explain the situation. The child is upset, scared, and does not have the emotional maturity to understand why you are not to blame. All they can understand is that you appeared and everything became stressful and "bad". They started getting punished. Have to share their room now.
Do you even have rights? If you get hurt, get MAIMED, what will happen to you? Can you hold a job? Own land? Open a bank account? Fuck it! Can you have a RELATIONSHIP?
If you went out RIGHT NOW and punched a purse thief, would the FOUR YEAR OLD be arrested?
If the kid grows up, becomes a hero, and you do secretarial work... does his license cover you? If YOU wanted to become a Hero, would he be your hero partner? Could he technically sit in a corner and let you work?
If no one could TELL, over an internet connection, then surely that should prove SOMETHING? Right?
And! The question NO ONE ever seems to ask!
Could..... could you LEAVE? Do people have the right to force you back? If you don't WANT to be some kid's Quirk? You're sentient. If, unlike Dark Shadow, you are not PHYSICALLY connected, but tethered by distance?
Could. You. Leave?
Just "Allright, I'm out. The way you're all treating me is unacceptable. See ya never." And walk out the door? You'd be able to gain distance as the kid grew older. As long as you hid? You be homeless, without papers, but free.
A sentient Quirk means free will. Means you don't HAVE to do shit. It's like being born with a twin, not a slave. And that Twin does NOT have to put up with your bullshit. YOU are the one asking THEM to work with you, after all.
This? Of course, ALSO just ABSOLUTELY BEGS the question? What if that four year old grew up to be a BASTARD? Just... NO self reflection or empathy. Everything is everyone else's fault, always. And they want a NEW Quirk. One that won't question them.
So they sell theirs, buy a new one. Probably die off screen trying to throw it around.
What happens to you THEN? Pain, obviously. Like... massive, massive amounts of pain. You ARE a Quirk. You're being ripped out by your metaphorical roots. By the NERVE ENDINGS. But? Do you... for lack of a better word, "reset"?
Are you back infront of "your" person? Or do you stay, safely, where you are? Both would be fascinating, honestly. Because I imagine All for One? Does NOT get sentient quirks often. If at all.
They'd sooner kill themselves.
After all, if your choice is "kill yourself and your beloved twin" or "be ripped apart and watch them die horribly, then be used to go against everything you both stood for"? You weep and promise to make it fast.
Then you make it fast.
It's... really annoying, I'd imagine, for All for One. It's not necessarily that he WANTS a sentient Quirk. But they are INTERESTING. And he likes interesting.
He also likes owning things that can't leave. Ever.
So of course he'll poke and prod at the Quirk. It will inevitably be a nightmare, either way. Because EVERY Sentient Quirk has some degree of communication aspect to it. Just because the original holder never figured it out, doesn't mean HE can't.
And while your range may now be much, MUCH bigger? Because the fucker is strong as hell? How useful is that... if he can talk to you when ever HE feels like it? Day or night. 24/7.
And that's assuming you don't reset. God help you if you reset. Because THEN your STANDING infront of, most likely, pre-face-smash All for One. Who's looking at you like he just won a Mildly Interesting Prize and you would PREFER HE NOT. But what are you gonna do?
Walk out again?
You think THAT'S an option here?!
I mean... you can and do TRY. But, obviously not. So like? Fuck ™.
THEN the question becomes? Would YOU go to Tarturaus. Are you a hostage? Or an accomplice? You have the same level of power and authority as a cat, deliberately knocking pages of tables and cups to the floor, but... like? Oooooh~ oh yeah! THATS gonna slow him down! His empire crumbles beneath the sheer MIGHT of your petty inconveniences!
*trips the doctor again*
Fffffuck you.

If Izuku ever disappeared, who do you think would inherit MHA? From Class 1-A and Class 1-B.
So it's important I set up some specifics. For this, it's important to pick out characters who have enough character to build a story around, or where aspects can be extrapolated into a proper story. But you also don't want characters who are too tied to Izuku or other major characters. Like I think Uraraka can be a great pick, but she's heavily tied to Toga's arc. I know a lot of people would pick Bakugou, but I struggle to think about his story without having Izuku to support it. And if you change the characters, you have to change the story and themes, so I'm playing fast and lose with that.
Kirishima: Probably the most typical of protagonists you could get out of all of this. He's an underdog and has a very brawler focused fighting style. Yet I think his inherent fear and insecurities could be interesting to explore more. Something that can easily be reflected in his hero work as he finds his niche his Quirk. You could even do the thing where he grows more and more powerful with each battle, eventually becoming this monolith of unbreakable power.
Mina: I've always held the belief that Mina had the makings of being a true hero. If you play around that more, there is a story to tell. Mina could be the one who was told she was always meant to be a hero. Now someone who has total faith in their abilities and a simple view of heroism must be met with a harsh reality. How does someone with a much simpler view on heroes react to a world where heroes are now so harshly criticized? And she'd raise to accept that challenge to keep being a hero.
Shinso: There is such an interesting perspective in here. Shinso has a backstory similar to a lot of the villains. How he was bullied and mistreated because of his villainous power. Yet he still chooses to be a hero in spite of that. There is a lot ways you could make conflict and tie him to the villains. He could want to be a hero, even if it means he has to use his villainous power in ways that don't fit the hero mold. His allies will still judge him for that power because of how society treats people with powers like him.
Tenya: I could see you doing like a mini-version of Izuku with Tenya. Where he look ups to his older brother and wants to replace him now that he's been cut down in his prime. Then you focus on all his complicated emotions, especially involving Stain as the ever out of reach villain. Have that conflict with him trying to be a leader and role model to his classmates, just as his brother was for him. It could be more focused on legacy and how your actions effect others.
Tokoyami: I think there is a lot you could do with Tokoyami and Dark Shadow. Not only because there is a lot you could explore with the dynamic between Tokoyami and the thing that is inside him and what the means, but also how it is a very dark and villainous power. You could do a lot with that and how that can effect things with Hawks. You could have Tokoyami grapple with how he looks up to Hawks, how he sees himself, and how those change as he slowly learns more and more about Hawks through out the story.
Monoma: This is the one I have the most confidence in. Monoma has enough unique skills and abilities to keep fights varied. Not only in what kind of Quirks he has, but the kind of people he fights with and uses his tactics on. He also has some internal conflict with how his Quirk works and the insecurities he feels from that. This could tie into the ideas of how anyone could be a hero, even someone "powerless" like Monoma, and how people need to work together in order to achieve the most results, shown through his tactics combination of Quirks getting the most results.

I keep forgetting to post about this all the while it’s only become less and less likely to mean anything in canon… but can we talk for a second anyways on how Monoma’s the only person on the battlefield right now who actually knows the reason Deku’s black whip awakened in the first place, the reason for Deku losing control for the first time during the Joint Training arc was because of Bakugo?
Remember how even when All Might and Bakugo asked what triggered blackwhip Deku was like “I dunno,” y’know, like a liar?

The only people in the manga who know specifically what Monoma said to trigger black whip, is, well, Monoma himself, plus probably Shinsou. Almost certainly Shinsou actually.
It’s even strongly implied it was Shinsou’s idea for Monoma to mock Bakugo specifically. He was shown evesdropping on their friendly banter, no doubt for strategic purposes.
Shinsou knew he got Deku to talk by mocking his friends before, during the Joint Training arc he’s observing for specific friends to target.

I dunno I just find it oddly funny how Monoma of all people is one of only two people to know this particularly dramatic clue that Bakugo is literally Midoriya’s berserk button.
Heckin Monoma, why is this so oddly funny. Shinsou too, this is such a neat setup. Even for a platonic reading of BakuDeku, putting Monoma in this situation is just so bizzarely funny to me, like, I was honestly expecting Monoma to get a flashback of the Joint Training arc when Deku lost it in the recent arc over thinking Bakugo died… but okay, to be fair, perhaps Monoma hadn’t had enough reason to connect the dots quite yet. But maybe now he does? 🤔
Eh, or maybe I’m overanalyzing things.

Shinsou has an archive of cursed memes that he sends out at random to his friends without context just to fuck with them.
Tbh this is hella adorable!!!! Cause like he's so quiet in person and you might think yall aren't even close but then you get this uber cursed thing at 3am and know he's thinkin about you!
I'd be so fuckin honored 😌

Your review for chapter 4
The exam is fine in isolation. You can tell by looking at it that the purpose of this exam was so that Izuku could punch a giant robot, break three of his limbs, and save and be saved by Uraraka. Bakugo also got a high score in a test that catered perfectly to his quirk. It succeeded in its goals and was a very memorable moment. The first time Izuku ever went SMASH. MHA really hit at the perfect time when superheroes were big and it provided constant action. Maybe a bit too much in retrospect, since we never got much Academia in the My Hero.
The problem comes with Shinso in the sports festival.
An invisible girl managed to pass it. That same invisible girl got a higher score on Aizawa's physical test than Izuku, despite her quirk doing nothing for her. What's Shinso's excuse? The logic here is that Toru was either punching robots or rescuing people, and Shinso failed to do both. I think we're supposed to care about and feel sorry for this kid though? The only message you can take away from this is that he's lazy and wanted to coast through with his quirk. But we're meant to want him to get into the hero course and feel hype when he's training with them. He wasn't mad because the test was unfair, he was mad because his quirk didn't work on robots. There's persistent fanon that the robots had secret off switches, which despite all the years of the MHA fandom being a thing, nobody's been able to dig up where that was stated. I don't believe statements without evidence, and nobody's ever been able to provide proof of this. But even if we assume this is real...
It makes Shinso even more of an idiot. Apparently UA provided a back door to help kids who couldn't punch robots get in, and he was too daft to see it. So the story wants us to see that the exam was unfair, but someone who gets literally zero advantages from their power in the test passed it. He spends a lot of time griping about other people having perfect quirks and living a charmed life. Toru destroys his argument entirely. I bet she wishes she had Brainwash. There's also Koji. It wasn't until the Joint Training Arc that we learned that Koji has enhanced strength from being a rock person. I don't recall a moment before that which we could know this. Tokoyami for example has a bird head. But he doesn't display any crow traits, such as mimicking sounds or having superb eyesight. His are just cosmetic. Koji's personality isn't the type to have animals get hurt fighting robots, and it's unlikely that there were conveniently placed bears for him to use nearby. So he must have punched robots too, I guess. We know NOW he's enhanced, but at the time of the sports festival he'd be another person whose quirk wouldn't have helped him much, because he doesn't see animals as disposable tools. None of this matters or would be thought about by anyone if not for Shinso bringing attention to it. By the way, since I'm talking to you right now, when are you doing another poll? I like those.
Oh shoot, I forgot to mention the punch! Yeah, Hori really does do well on the action scene when he pulls them up. (Though there’s a little much lately, but I guess that’s the audience.) I’m with you though. If it ain’t in the manga or official work, it doesn’t count, especially if it’s an important plot point, like in this case. Some may argue that Shinso didn’t get in because he has a “villainous” quirk but we’ve never seen anyone bothered by that, especially the heroes. What they do say is that he failed the hero course because his quirk isn’t a combat quirk. But that always raised the question; how the hell did Toru get in then? She’s not strong physically and, at this point, has no way of disarming anyone. We’ve seen she’s not an academic genius, so it wasn't her brains that got her in. Fans can speculate all they like about buttons or whatever but without proof, it’s just a plot hole. (Plus, buttons were never mentioned so how would Toru know about them? It’s more likely she got in the way Elle Woods did without the GPA backing.) But I’ll talk more about it when I get to the sports festival and not sporting a fever. I think I’ve touched on this in previous posts if you want to look it up. Just search the Shinso critical tag, and you’ll find it. As for the polls, I’ve been playing with posting one, so I’ll just do it. Just keep following!
#Shinso critical#shinsou hitoshi critical#shinsou critical#Seriously I love Toru but how did she get in?#We know that Mineta can trap villains and gunck up guns#and Monoma could have just copied a strong quirk#but Toru??#I guess she could have gotten rescue points#but that's just guessing#bnha meta#mha meta#bnha#mha#like you said it would be that big a deal if the manga didn't make it a big part of a character's arc#lacunammmm reply

Okay, so im dyignggingng about the Shinsou reveal aaaahh
Like, I've been saying since the whole Class-A-tracking-down-Midoriya-to-bring-him-back that that would've been a good time for Shinsou to "join" (as in, start being involved with) their class since he honesty had more to say about Midoriya inspiring him than some of the people who were actually there. And Shinsou could've just hung around in the background since then, being his asocial self (and possibly offering a more objective opinion than a lot of the people who were directly emotionally involved in the traitor reveal). It would've made sense, I think and provided me with lots of little background moments to scream about while all this sad stuff was happening-
Which means I want the actual reveal to make more sense/be more meaningful than that idea, or both scenes are probably going to feel like missed opportunities to me. So I'm doubly excited to both see him again figure out what exactly the reasoning is for him only showing up now and how this is gonna go~!
I mean, I'll be ecstatic regardless because Shinsou is baaaack <33 I've been waiting forever, I saw all that foreshadowing, Horikoshi, and it's finally being paid offff (I can't stop screaming, send help-)
Also, can we talk about Aizawa being the best mentor? Like "Oh, we're in trouble? GEE, if only we had my amazing, incredible, talented, hard-working, one-of-a-kind son Shinsou, who would totally be able to help us if he was here..."
