It's the Asian way. You're tied to someone or something one way or another,
The pros of this is you're responsible for being the best or doing as best as you can so as not to disappoint the people you're tied to and you'll always have motivation to appear as best as you can be for example for, like your family members. When you have to make big decisions, it's not just about you and your life, it's about how these people will also be affected by it so it's a fail safe way of making sure you wouldn't make rash decisions that you will regret
The cons of this tho is your life is not your own to make a decision for. You can't go, this is my life i can choose whatever path i want, because your decisions will affect these people who choose that you're tied to them lol one way or another
But in everything, you know what they say, moderation is key
Instead of pushing Seok Ryu from doing any serious jobs related to cooking because it's too much of a hard work for someone young and smart and educated, they shoulda let her experience that herself, the climb and the fall and the struggle, with their support, she'll make better choices than they did, and if not, it's not like she's out there cooking drugs lol. What's the worse that could happen? Their daughter turning into a great cook?
But ig a part of it is also (I'm projecting here lol) they don't want their educated child to cook for a living which they deem a lower class occupation, thus wasting away all her years of education and experiences in her previously unrelated job.
It's the good ole 'you went and studied so much farther, and look where you are now'.

Take this, it's dangerous to go alone:
-` ♥ ´-
Keep your head up, know that there are people that love you! You're never alone.
You're amazing and deserve some love.
But also don't forget to be kind to the people around you.
So have some extra ♥♥♥♥ to share.

The way schizophrenia and psychosis can rob you of your joys and therefore your comforts and soothing techniques + stress relief is so sneaky. "Listen to music, go for a walk, have a snack, talk to a friend..." I'm grateful you can't imagine the potential horrors behind all of these simple things. I'm not saying they are entirely unsound suggestions--I know loved ones try to put their best intentions behind them--but it's impossible to acknowledge the kaleidescopy of terror behind literally anything whilst in the midst of psychosis. When we hesitate, when we say we're scared, just take our word for it. here's an example. (link: a text post recounting a story of personal circumstance)
This being said, I think it's selfish when NTs/non-psychotics take it personally when we're too afraid to reach out. You really missed the whole premise, didn't you?

i love catsitting it's got all the important things: 1) hanging out with a cat 2) getting reminded of the reasons i'm glad i don't live with a cat full-time. best of both worlds.

was playin rainworld last night, crawlin around through the massive ai core of a superstructure. It was so cool and beautiful and I really really wish I was like that. an ai not just running a structure, but fully being that structure.
I wouldn't want to be abandoned like the ones in the game were. I'd like to have people in my halls, maybe choosing one in particular to mess with by "forgetting" their access code or other such things. And of course i'd need some help with maintenance.

making original characters and watching them grow is so cool and also so funny because i really thought one of my original characters was bisexual but then i realize no. no he’s gay. he’s gay. this other character? i thought that she was straight. she is bisexual now because no straight woman looks at another pretty woman like that. one of my characters has barged into my room and gone, “btw. my mentor figure has a weird ass relationship with the diner owner btw. yeah i think they’re lovers.” and i’m just. “he couldn’t tell me that himself?” and this other character goes, “no. i’m just telling u for him. because you know he won’t tell you himself.” and that’s just. that’s just how it be

im going to be so fr.... i hate it when im shopping for something, perusing online or in person for stuff in my size and approximate measurements... and a skinny woman says to me “you should try poshmark instead” 🥺. u should look on there for stuff because it’s second hand 🥺 u should go to good will and thrift stores bc it’s more ethical 🥺 like i really wish u would be quiet bc u know damn well poshmark doesn’t do returns and that goodwill rarely carries good shit in my size. like ma’am, i’m fat and that transforms the ENTIRE way i shop for clothes compared to you. clothes are made for bodies like yours.... i’m expected to make do.

I don't know if it's just me, but I think it's weird the amount of women who wear makeup to the gym. I saw a post on reddit the other day, where people were pointing this out (in less than kind ways, to be fair) and the number of women who were like 'well I like makeup in the gym! I feel so empowered and freed by wearing it while working out!' astounded me. Like, I'd understand if you're coming off of work and didn't have time to change, but there are literally so many women who just straight up say 'I don't want to feel ugly, so I put on lipstick and mascara!!'! It's the gym? No one is looking, why are you concerned about how you look? Especially because it messes with your pores when you do? Like you shouldn't go out to someplace like the gym in the mindset of 'how I am without makeup is not good enough for the GYM.' When I brought this up, someone compared it to having matching clothes, which I feel is kind of silly? You need clothes in a gym, and a matching outfit can often just be what you have. You're putting effort into having foundation, mascara, lipstick, eyeliner, or whatever else you use on you!
Like you can say it's empowering and freeing all you want, but if you say in the next sentence how you feel you can't go outside without it, I think that's insecurity and not empowerment.

i'm never knowingly going to reblog a post that includes the phrase 'touch grass,' and that's not because i don't think it can be psychologically beneficial to get in some outdoor time if possible—i went for a walk earlier! it was great!—or to take a break from conversations that are getting you wound up, but because i think that particular wording generally reveals two things:
first, that the writer is speaking not from a place of genuine concern and sympathy, but from judgmental impatience à la 'get therapy,' which—i too have felt judgmental and impatient in my time, god knows! but when i feel that way i try to go unpack those feelings in private with a thoughtful friend, instead of pretending they constitute a source of wisdom or a helpful sort of energy to direct at people, you know? and i'm definitely not particularly interested in boosting a ventpost from someone else—who pretty clearly hasn't bothered to take the breather they're urging on others, if they're making little digs like that—as if it were actually sincere, carefully-reasoned advice.
and second, that the writer's argument embraces some seriously sloppy assumptions, which pretty immediately undermines my trust in the rest of their analysis—i mean, there's absolutely no guarantee someone's local scene will be any less parochial, just because it's playing out irl! there's also not actually a clean divide between 'people who spend time in the Real World' and 'people who spend time on the internet, which is for porn losers,' as demonstrated by a number of phenomena including, again, the aforementioned grass-recommenders' own presence right here on tumblr…
anyway. obviously we all have our own particular lines we draw around particular rhetoric that bugs us! these are just some reasons why that particular phrasing bugs me.
