I'd thought I remembered, in the Knights of Requital planning, someone mentioning the gala being moved, because it gave the Nein an extra day to prep, and Dolan did specify that it had been unexpectedly pushed back a day, but doesn't suggest he knows why. (It's not clear to me based on the conversation when this change happened—it's possible Dolan has simply heard this update recently, but it also might've been a last minute change.) I was wondering because the timing of the Zauberspire attack coinciding with the gala seemed odd.

It is very narratively convenient, of course, and certainly the Kryn spies could've been using it for the same reason that the Knights of Requital were—important figures of the city were distracted and otherwise occupied, and Thuron does give an indication that Ulog was feeding them information as well, so he certainly could've suggested that timing to both.

But two things about the attack struck me: first, that the Zauberspire does not seem to be very far from where the gala is held, which makes it less of a distraction and more of a liability for covert military operations; and second, the Assembly reacts instantly. Moreover, Trent is already there, though he normally resides in Rexxentrum. He doesn't exactly seem the type to show up for annual holiday festivities, given he doesn't stand to gain much if anything from hobnobbing with a bunch of regional socialites, and Ludinus later suggests he is not exactly being dispatched to events as a diplomatic entity. Of course he can be in another city quite quickly, but this all happens so quickly that I find it unlikely that there would've been time to inform someone in another city prior to apprehending the infiltrators, given the immediacy with which the mages respond.

The point being, I think they were warned.

So there's Danny-suddenly a halfa- by definition both alive and dead. He is two things that are diametrically opposed. They cannot exist at the same time, so they don't.

Every time Danny goes ghost, he dies again. Each time the rings of light engulf him he has a moment again of being electrocuted to death. Phandom greatly enjoys giving Danny Lichtenberg scars, but electric shock has other common symptoms such as hearing loss, tremors, and seizures...

...all things Danny faces every time he comes back to life.

It takes them awhile to put it all together- that transforming and fighting makes it all worse- and by then Danny's been through rounds of medication for his seizures that do nothing and has a permanent level of hearing loss. (And Ancients does the hearing loss explain some of his troubles with school.)

Part of Danny is tempted, each and ever time, to stay a ghost where he doesn't feel the constant ache of pain and trembling muscles and muted world. Part of him is tempted to stay dead.

But he pulls through it. Things settle with the ghosts. Danny is able to hang up Phantom and being a hero and instead focusing on living. The seizures stop, the tremors and pain have good days and bad, Tucker helped him make some amazing hearing aides... he lives.

He gets an internship with the Wayne Foundation and their outreach helping children left permanently injured by the attacks in Gotham- inspired in part by Jason Todd-Wayne's own partial hearing loss from an explosion.

When they meet, neither of them quite know just how deeply the other person can understand what they've been through.

the thing is. when you ignore the whole jimmy in heaven nonsense and take into consideration everything said post THAT nonsense- by misha, kripke, dabb, fans who visited the vancouver set etc etc, the cas/dean reunion in the roadhouse, them sitting at the bar, cas' arm around dean's shoulders - it. all. adds. up.

it's not that misha is each time telling a different story. except for that ONE time, right after the finale, when he talked about it being jimmy in heaven. he's actually telling the same story, each time adding a new tidbit. so i guess what i'm saying is. next year we can all hear misha say; well actually dean and cas were supposed to be balls deep on that bar in that roadhouse because 1. this man is a troll 2. he could just be making shit up for our entertainment and his own amusement and 3. what will they do?? fire him??

but there is also a really truly genuinely terrifyingly good chance that all he's been saying about the destiel reunion in heaven is actually TRUE.

EDIT: I've just remembered Jensen's MONTHS long radio silence post the finale. And Jensen's and Misha's absence in the official thank you video. AND Jensen breaking the sexy silence only to comment on the IG handprint post. AND the rumour that Jensen wanted to wait with the shooting for the finale until after covid so that it could've been done properly.

Well, you don't do all THAT if you think what you actually got was the perfect ending. You do all that if you believe the alternative would've been so much better.
