Another year has passed, and with it the opportunity to reflect back on all that has happened. While my growth was not as dramatic as last year, I can still see lots of positive change.

I'll never have enough ways to say thank you for all the love and support you have given me this year. On to 2025!

#poorly drawn mdzs #art summary #Since last year's independent variable was PD-WWX; this year I used Lan Wangji.#Unfortunately his appearances were not very evenly distributed this year! Lots of LWJ's early in the year #then a dead period in the middle. He is forever my silly rabbit. I love drawing him!#If I have to put a label on this year; I'd describe it as 'experimental'. I pushed myself to do llots of new things!#I drew lots for dungeon meshi and that really boosted my growth. More body types -clothing details - expressions!#Ryoko Kui is a great artist to learn from and It made me realize that I had a lot to gain from doing more studies.#I also started working on a whole new genre of art! While it has taken a backburner spot - I'm working on a game now!#Digital art was my enemy last year but I have been getting a feel for it now.#Goals for this year is to 1) keep working on my personal projects 2) finish PD-MDZS! and 3) practice animation!#I didn't (couldn't) draw as much as I did last year...but I had to take a lesson in humility and taking care of myself.#Drawing is something I do 'for fun' but there were many times it became more stressful than it should.#I'm still learning how to find and maintain balance with everything life throws at me.#We are all works of progress and I am trying very hard to love the process and the journey! I don't really know my destination!#But I will keep taking steps forwards. I never want to be stuck and lost as I once was.#If 2024 was a rough year for you too; We're in this together. on the JP server, when does groovy art come out? cuz like ive been checking wiki gg to see if the rapunzel groovies have been released yet and idk it might just be the wiki holding off until the events over (but i haven't seen groovy art of it at all but it might just be me since im trying to avoid spoilers for riddles card specifically). but since EN is like a year behind JP all the cards and stuff have already been released so theres no wait time so idk if on JP you can only groovy new cards until like the event ends or smth

the schedule says the Lanterns groovies/personal stories will come out on the 5th, which is when the event ends! usually they release them along with the last part of the event (sometimes the SSRs afterwards), but this time they're waiting til after on all of them for some reason. 🤷

not too much longer to go though! the aesthetic of this one is sooooo pretty, I know already that they're going to absolutely ♪ murder meeee ♫ ( ᐛ )

#twisted wonderland #joseimuke games are serious business #negai no lantern #they've been sorta experimenting with release dates #getting all fun and flirty with all the different ways to do it #like new years' the srs could be groovied when the last part of the story came out but the ssrs had to wait til after #halloween i think was all groovies with the last part although the cards didn't have stories #and then...oh my god hold on as i have a crisis when i realize the last non-rerun 'normal' event was tsums 3 #but anyway with that one iirc we had the first 2 episodes of the ssr personal stories but then had to wait til after for the 3rd/groovy #and now it's just nobody until after the event i guess #twst remains inscrutable with its motivations as always #(to be fair the motivations are most likely 'because of various snowballing delays and other issues beyond our control')#('we have to constantly scramble for any little scraps of extra time we can get')#(as is traditional in media production)#(a young dev team member sitting by a campfire: i once heard tales of a game that was ahead of schedule for thirty whole seconds...)#(old wizened dev team member: bah! unrealistic fantasy! now throw another batch of client notes into the fire and get back to work.)

I'm gonna be real, so little of previous games have actually mattered in any way beyond flavor text that I literally could not give less of a shit about this whole debacle. Like it's such a non-issue to me. Idk what games y'all have been playing for 15 years but truly this is the norm. Barely anything carried over from Origins to Hawke and all pretty minor shit, and I genuinely cannot think of anything beyond flavor text carrying over to Inquisition. Oh you could customize Hawke and they can answer a few vague questions with vague bullshit? Cool, presumably that's what the Inquisitor will give us. Like idk guys but I think maybe building up your expectations for a decade has had a detrimental effect on what should be reasonable expectations for a video game that's truly been in development hell for like eight years and wants to be functionably playable to brand new players without alienating them.

#like i played inquisition first and THEN played the first two and i didn't really lose anything doing it like that #it functioned as a fun game in a bubble that parcelled background info in small digestible codex snippets #then after playing the other games there was more IMPACT in new playthrough but no major revelations #honestly i think i probably had MORE fun playing Inquisition first that i would have if i'd played origins and hawke beforehand #presumably that's what they're aiming for with veilguard and honestly i'm super chill with that #i hope they once again succeeded in making both a good bubble video game AND reasonable sequel #like they set it a decade later for a reason guys: i'm pretty sure most major inquisition decisions will be old news by then #'oh a shitty mage/assassin/cop is the divine? she has been for like twelve years get over it grandpa'#'oh the circles are restored/abolished? yeah we know little timmy the mage was born AFTER the mage revolt of :41 and is doing fine'#'hey what happened with all those wardens fucking about in orlais during the breach crisis? literally who gives a fuck that was AGES ago'#look. i just cannot comprehend getting genuinely bent out of shape about this. like are you also still made about origins' epilogue slides?#dragon age: the veilguard #by apples

#thank you this has been the laziest media analysis post of my career #dbtag #media analysis #something something a game to goku is a threat to vegeta etc #there's a pinned thought here about how Vegeta also didn't learn about the dragon balls until he was ?? 30?? and so all loss is permanent #and goku has been familiar since he was ~12 and hasn't faced a permanent consequence since he was 10 years old and even then he got closure #sometimes I think about how Vegeta saw Trunks die and how Krillin was mad at him for reacting since they could fix it with the dragon balls #but Vegeta has very limited experience with the dragon so to him in that moment that was permanent and Trunks was Dead. Forever.#And we talked before in a 2am post about Vegeta having never experienced grief born of love and I stand by it because his feelings then wer #still very new and very odd and not something he'd accepted until that moment so it was raw power but not as powerful as it could've been #all this to say in my heart of hearts I think Vegeta deserves to retire at the end of super (if super continues) -- not as a warrior #but as an infantryman. he's a prince and now he's got his domain and his family and his planet to look after and I think he deserves #to go home and stay home and help piccolo bully gohan into training more often when goku inevitably leaves to hop the multiverse #geets wanted to take a sabbatical when Bulla was born but didn't get the chance because Freeza coming back freaked him out too much #but whether freeza gets a redemption arc or gets defeated -- Granolah's arc seemed to shift his perspective on being the strongest #and I just grips fist I just think it would be a really nice full circle for Vegeta to inherit his throne in a way he never expected and #finally get his kingdom to look after and protect in the way that he was looking forward to being king of his own planet all those years ag #Goku's got Broly and Jiren and Hit and all the others to keep him busy and happy now -- and if Freeza gets a redemption arc he'll probably #continue playing slap-ass with Goku for the rest of his life -- and Vegeta's got Gohan and Piccolo and Goten and Trunks #I just think them getting a nice bittersweet 'This is where we part ways' would be really nice for both of them because !!#They couldn't have done this without each other. They couldn't have known this kind of life was possible without each other.#So they swap lots and live happier than they ever imagined they could be #especially since Vegeta has proved to himself that he can close any gap Goku creates in progress that's not a concern anymore #And obvs the door's always open!! I finally finished Bugsnax

#I know Grumpus Bean has a unique tag but I don't remember what it is and I think I was gonna change their last name #so new tag time #OC: Bean (grumpus)#that'll do for now #but yes I am like three years late #mainly bc my old pc lagged to all hell and then I never redownloaded it on my new one until like yesterday #well I actually had to repurchase it for steam bc I was not gonna get that epic games launcher just for bugsnax but no big #although for some reason the game still lags but only when I am in snaxburg so the last quest was extra stressful! fighting a hoard at 2fps #I did know what was gonna happen bc I'd watched the ending #but still! it's a different experience to actually play than just watching someone who is also talking over most of it #and they didn't do most of the sidequests nor any of the DLC (tho I watched it before the DLC so they could not have ljksdgfkj)#so that was all new to me!!!#there's so many fuckin quests but I did them all!!!#except like two of them and catching that fast little coffee bastard #I will probably return to do that but for now I have to draw or I will explode #we will return to PT things but don't mind if I have snax on the brain for a bit #I have some funny moments I want to draw

I was about to start throwing plates because even though hours have passed, the messages on my deco my tree just wouldn't load and in all honesty I was looking forward to reading those more than getting my christmas presents. But looks like making an account on another sketchy website that was linked on that already also sketchy website did give me access to the messages finally. The only problem is that i can't see who they're from but also they seem to be chronological so I think I can figure it out lol. So after some frustrations i can finally say that i have read them and they were really sweet and nice.... so, thank you friends!!!!! 💝 I hope your holidays were great too. And moral of the story is don't trust random websites like these with something that's sort of personal to you idk

#speaking of presents i need to brag about something #because now i offically have 20 vinyl records that i've gathered since starting my collection in spring of 2023 #and my newest one is also actually the oldest and kind of an odd one out. surfer girl by the beach boys!#i'm really shocked that my dad remembered how we had this one conversation that also mentioned this band #about how i've been meaning to get into more of those bands that are considered maybe among the most influential and sort of classic #and just more 60s music in general. and we just listened to the album today and it was lots of fun #another thing is that after 4+ years since the game got released and since my months long animal crossing hypefixation started #i actually have new horizons now yay!!!! time to dig up my notes from all those months back #where i wrote down all my detailed plansfor customising my island IF I HAD ONE #but yeah this is exciting i haven't actualy played any ac games since uh idk even when #i probably haven't logged into either of my wild world or new leaf towns in over a year or maybe even two years #so i'm excited to return to the animal crossing world once again. those games are among my favourites ever #i'm definitely naming my island 'cowtown' by the way #also it was frosty overnight so today i took a walk and took some nice photos of everything being covered in frost #the magic of nature will always amaze me so... yay. all in all i had a chill christmas time #most of all i'm glad i didn't get sick out of nowhere at the end of holidays like last year that was kind of wild and rough #and i'm sending healing powers to those who might have had to deal with sickness of any kind. i know how that feels........#goosepost

I'm really excited for when we do start getting Kingdom Hearts news again because I wasn't a kh fan until 2020 so I've never been part of like, the tumblr community during the hype and buildup for a game or the analysis shortly after a release or ANYTHING like that, looking forward to losing my mind with all of you about Luxu and Quadratum and everything else!!!!!!

#remember before when square enix didn't release trailers at an event and i mentioned somewhere that i wanted to post an angry rant but was #refraining?#ooooooh are we there again--but much worse: because it's even WORSE that they haven't even showed anything by now--and i don't know if i #can refrain anymore. or if i even should. maybe they NEED someone to go off on them #i'm sorry: but you can't tell me that this isn't their new ceo's fault. because they never did stuff like this before. and at least in this #regard i feel like he's a moron #and even if it turns out that thegamersjoint's talk about them doing their own showcase this month is true i still think it's stupid they #didn't show anything here (even if they think it's a more costly effective decision to show things at their own show) because they'd get #more attention for games at the state of play than their own show #and also thegamersjoint recently said that this supposed show is mainly aimed at nintendo switch 2 games and that kh and ff aren't even #going to be there. so if any of that is even true to begin with. lol. we're still fucked according to that #really i could go on and on but i'll stop for now #all this being said i'm not just a se girlie and there were things at the state of play that definitely interested me (though i slept #through most of it sadly)#like lost soul aside that i've had my eyes on for years and is FINALLY coming out. and this last trailer for it was great #and tides of annihilation can just take my money now #and as a fnaf fan i'm interested in secrets of the mimic #-goes to watch the rest of the show that i missed-

#can i say something.#i think because of tash's career track she's been very underappreciated #like she had 3rd most assists in the league last year #and that's with having several excellent passers on the team as well #and the fact that she regularly defends 4s [and was one of the more successful merc to do so last year]#tbh even the fans [like league fans] don't see it #and i think. even though she has that 200k contract [and deserves it]#many FO don't see her as invaluable #and like i understand why you would only want one big contract on the team between at and tash. like from a roster construction standpoint #i get it. i will be interested to see how the mercury do this year bc it's going to be a whole new system #apparently bg left bc they wanted to move away from the 4-1 setup idk #and i was thinking more about why the merc crashed out last year #i think it got into someone's head that they needed a 4 to rebound even though the system worked when everyone was healthy #and like having 3 of 5 starters either out or going through something after the break that will change a team #but the way they didn't have a consistent bench didn't help #and part of that is players and part of it is the flexibility you want to use when you have so many players on 7 days or minimums #and taking bec out of the line up makes it really tough bc she is such a good defender and versatile player #and it's not like they couldn't lock in and defend. they could. it just didn't happen all the time #and the perimeter defense sucked #and the more i think about it the more i think they should have started celeste in that 4 spot even though she's smaller she can defend #and the other thing is it wasn't totally the roster bc like we were competitive in those last two games #but i think part of the issue came with the reliance on the 3. even though most of the time the ball movement was good #well it was good with the starters in. there was one shot clock violation in that last game with seattle... oof #so i guess what i'm saying is i'm curious if the coaching will be different next year with larger players and more defenders #but that paige shouts tash out at every opportunity #well 2. first it was the style [makes sense] then it was the 1 on 1 play #just because she wasn't the biggest name on the roster didn't mean she wasn't incredibly valuable #and to decide in one offseason that you want to burn it down and start fresh is wild to me #and i think their decision to do that made bg explore fa #but aside from the positional overlap this trade happened bc phx doesn't have any assets

#tales of destiny #johnny shiden #olivier lenheim #blond - check #silly bard - check #makes an entrance singing a love song - check #secretly a prince - check check check xD #i made a silly doodle years ago drawing Olivier as Johnny #fun times #although minor caveat in that the ToD remake may have come out after Trails FC #and even if it didn't they would have only been months apart at that point #and I don't remember if Johnny's entrance was different in the og game #but honestly ToD feels a lot like a Trails in the Sky in some ways #the first half of the game has us make a loop around the world map chasing after someone and one step behind #getting into misadventures making friends and parting ways #then just when we think things are ok - suddenly a betrayal and the party comes back together including the new friends #and then something something ancient technology and a floating city in the sky #(in all seriousness this is an amusing coincidence more than anything though)#(Trails in the Sky takes its real cues from White Witch & especially A Tear of Vermillion)#(and both of those games are older than ToD)

God, I will never not enjoy how surprised nearly all my younger students get when they find out how much I know about video games. Like... but you're my teacher... and you're nearly 30... and you're a woman... how can this be??? 🤯

#my favorite thing is when they start trying to convince me to play their favorite games and report back to them about what i thought of them #it's so cute #plus honestly they already normally get so shocked when they see my gaming laptop... then they find out i actually use it hahaha #i am proud of the fact that i've been told i type fast by 12 year olds... that is a real compliment... they type SO fast themselves #god... on another note one little girl once saw my laptop stickers and asked me what year i graduated from miskatonic university #and then i told her it's a fictional school and she said “oh so you didn't go to the college of winterhold either?” 😂#once one kid asked me if i have a husband and kids and when i said no to both of those she goes “oh i guess you're alone” 😂😂#and then i told her i live with my two best friends and we mostly play video games and board games and tabletop rpgs all day #and then she said she wants to do that too lol #i told her she should do whatever she thinks will make her happy ofc #it is just amusing when kids meet an adult who doesn't act the way they expect... but honestly they adapt to new info so fast #i mean ofc they do they are designed to learn basically everything is new to them #they are funny because they get so shocked and then instantly recover

First gourd (and radish) I carved in my life 31 October 2019

#the drawing I class i was in in undergrad had a pumpkin carving day that year #i decided to be rebellious and buy a pumpkin to carve for the first time but when i went to the store there were no more pumpkins :')#so i got a gourd and a little skeleton for inside caude i wanted a scene #it was the first time i had carved anything for Halloween ever and i remember feeling so sinful at the time #there was this one person Maddie who was also giving tarot card readings and they were one of my major events(?) to realize i was gay #i didnt get a reading from them cause i was scared that was going too far and I would be too far gone messing with the 'occult'#and they made me nervous but i wanted more and couldnt figure out why (i chalked it up to them being 'cool' and wanting to be their friend)#anyways maddie gave me the radish cause they also didnt bring a pumpkin and had two radishes (cause they were buy 1 get 1) from Winn Dixie #i still think about maddie now and we talk sporadically i told them if they're ever in Chicago to come and visit me but they live in Canada #their art inspires me and i believe they could design a fantasy game or novel because of their work (i own a weird little dog of theirs)#i never mentioned anything to them at the time about being infatuated with them in class and i doubt i would now bc our life goals dont mesh #but i consider them to play a important role in my life and i appreciated the radish and wish i got the readings done #its wild how much growth can happen in just a few years -- i bought a mini pumpkin in September because i wanted to celebrate early #back then when i got home the gourd and radish was forcibly thrown away (and i didn't dare tell of my encounters in class with the lesbian!)#(i hold that memory in my heart & think of it fondly cause i hadnt realized yet i have much compassion for younger me who was never sinful)#now in grad school there is a new Maddie 🍈 who told me she didnt know why she keeps looking at my face in class and i think i know why #but she has yet to get there <3

#i refuse to give up the roadside assistance tho #that has been a safety feature more than once #but still... maybe if it didn't feel like every month you walk into a room and someone Combos you mortal kombat style?#itd be different if the electricity and taxes didnt just get done and the car didnt have to have major repairs #and healthcare is expensive even with the rebates you still have to have it up front for consultations #like holy fuck can some specialists charge and for what 'yeah that's fucked don't do that'#Okay thanks for that here's 300 #every time i amass even a small measure of savings post-fire something comes along to wipe it out #but once we get past this part of the year it should be good for savings #but other people have it worse i have a home and belongings and food and a bed and nice stuff #like... if i was desperate family would help but im not its just a bit messy for a bit but you move past it #nut others my age have like enough for a downpayment on a house and new cars so its kind of like... ah my game is corrupted #im the sim that's got all the negative traits and like the Tax Enthusiasm trait or some shit #didn't even get a whoohoo or whatever the hell its called #now im thinking about the sims #my ancient computer tower used to heave like me on a treadmill when i launched sims 3 #poor fucking thing was like Do we really Need the Supernatural Expansion Pack? and id be like yes #now let the vampire protagonist sim i have chosen as my Favourite have several weird hybrid children with werewolves and fairies and that o #e ghost dude but the grim reaper kept giving - - responses to flirting so no half death kids #ugh #unfortunately this sim always seemed to be bad at cooking... always setting fire to goopey cabonara which felt like foreshadowing
