I set timers on my phone sometimes. It doesn’t really know why I set them so it’ll suggest setting a ten minute timer at random times throughout the day trying to be helpful but missing that I don’t just set timers for fun?

In the last six months since I’ve been on this blog I, or my other poc mutuals, have been hard blocked, soft blocked, unfollowed, dismissed, etc. by the same people who reblog the same tired ass posts reminding people to be mindful about inclusion in writing/fandom. Usually right after making a post or sending a message about correcting something racist

Some of these people I watch yall break bread with and I don’t say shit because you know what? It would destroy me to have to watch people I speak to daily focus on that person being a friend of theirs and how ‘good of a person they are’ over the fact they hurt someone with an inconsideration. so that’s why I don’t ‘name, names’ but it’s still a damned if you do situation ain’t it?

Wrangling the Children onto some fresh leaves. The Cecropia Kids are over 40 days old and still growing, and I’m starting to worry they won’t pupate in before I leave on vacation . Granted, I’m sure everything will be ok but it’s in my nature to worry over multi-legged invertebrate children. I just love larvae.

Really struggling with knowing there’s a few viruses going around that are airborne and also spread through poor sanitation but we’re a few years into a global pandemic that due to protecting a tanking economy and backwards status quo, public health and safety is kind of a joke at all levels of life so HCWs don’t mask in hospitals and schools don’t put soap in bathrooms

Is anyone else thinking about this…is anyone else concerned about covid and measles and norovirus and diarrhea planes and schools closing because all the students and teachers are sick. Is anyone scared of getting sick and dying anymore???

learnt today that if you smack and successfully kill a mosquito while it’s sitting on you, there will be a small bloodstain on you fingers. asked my dad about it, and he said mosquitoes don’t have blood, that’s the blood they’ve taken from someone else

so now I can honestly say I’ve had someone else’s blood on my hands

First finished yarns of college! They’re both chain plied Malabrigo in the color way Candombe. I’m surprised by how different they look in terms of color! I think I spun the second a bit thinner too, and it may be a tad underspun

Next up I’m planning on plying two singles I spun on drop spindles. An undyed teeswater and a different malabrigo (Azules)

cast iron controversy

I realized while cooking dinner tonight that obviously in the descendants universe there’s a food trend of cooking things in tiny cast iron ramekins. Like these:

and Jane has to make a whole post about how she’s not IGNORING the tiny cast iron cheesecake trend, she just CANT participate because her boyfriend’s boyfriend’s girlfriend has fairy blood, and she can’t make them if the whole polycule can’t partake, and fairies can’t touch iron without being burnt, so actually stop asking guys, she’s not going to do it. The comments section on the post gets nasty. There’s one long time reader who’s trying to defend Jane and insisting that asking her to make a trendy recipe that her metamour can’t eat is actually discrimination against people with fairy blood, and another longtime reader arguing just as passionately that her great-grandfather was a full-blooded fairy and SHE can eat from cast iron just fine, so there’s really no reason why having a girlfriend-once-removed with fairy blood excuses the author from providing her loyal readers with a cute trendy dessert for their next social gathering!!

A third reader points out that actually, those with fairy blood can eat from cast iron just fine, so long as the food isn’t too acidic and they don’t touch the dish while they’re eating. Remember forks, guys?? The things that we use because eating with your hands is gross??

Jane almost hires one of the younger isle kids (who are DEEPLY invested in the drama) to moderate her comment section, until she realizes that letting Celia and Dizzy moderate is only going to make things SO much worse.

And that’s not even touching the great enameled cast iron debate that broke out after LoyalReader259 linked to a fairyzon listing for the cutest set of blue enameled cast iron ramekins.

(For the record, Jane is a fairy on both her parents’ sides, and she’s not making anything in cast iron because she doesn’t want to bake in gloves just for a trend. Mal could care less what dishware Jane brings to her bridal shower, she’ll wear full leather safety gear if it means she gets to eat cheesecake)

just rescued a huge large white butterfly (that’s its actual name DKHDKDJD) from the conservatory and i couldn’t close my hands around it at all it was so big so i just had to trick it into thinking it’s trapped for long enough to get it outside and it slipped out of my hands mere moments after i exited the building oughhhhh the panic the sheer panic

hey. fun tip for you guys. if you’re identifying trees out in nature and you see an interesting and beautiful leaf growing on a tree, check whether it’s a part of the tree or a vine before you touch it. because it might be poison ivy
