I know the brainrot is strong but I really can’t shake the idea that Ed&Stede are gonna get married - whether it’ll be in this season or the next.
Because… just imagine if they’d keep the wedding toppers that Ed stole.
(I mean Stede would probably cry out of the sheer wave of emotions that would hit him as soon as he’d find out about them… come on, the guy couldn’t even decide on a flag and instead hung all of his crew’s designs up like a dad who pins his kids’ drawings to the fridge)
And eventually there would be a parallel shot of the time Ed stole them from the straights to “current day” where the painted versions are sitting on a brand new wedding cake and as the camera zooms out we see them at an improvised altar on the Revenge, holding hands and smiling like the goofy head-over-heals in love idiots that they are.

Author's Note | This is my first post! I'm so excited because I love this song and all I could think about for a couple of days was this scenario. Please send requests and what you think!
Masterlist
You and Luke started dating while he was at the University of Michigan. Sure, you knew when He went to play for the Devils long-distance would be difficult because of your classes and his practices and games but you wanted to try. So it came as a shock when Luke broke up with you halfway through the summer after his NHL Debut.
“Y/N I really think we need to take a breather,” said Luke while you were both watching the sunset on the beach of the lake house.
“What?” You asked. It felt like your world came crashing down out of nowhere. You guys had barely been together a year. But you were inseparable at school and during the summers.
“Yeah, I just need to focus on hockey right now and you have your classes. I just don’t think it’s going to work out,” Luke rambled.
“But I want to make it work. I told you that before you left for New Jersey,”
“I don’t want to be held back because of some relationship,” Luke said and you stayed quiet. Your heart was shattering and he was stomping all over it.
“Ok, I’ll get all of my stuff and go back home. No point in wasting any time I guess,” You said with blurry eyes.
You packed up your bag and got ready to go. You saw Jack on the way out and gave him a hug goodbye.
“I don’t know what He’s thinking. I’m sure He’ll come around. It'll all work out,” Jack said into your hair even though it felt like he was trying to convince himself instead of you.
“It’s fine Jack, just take care of him for me,” you said and left the house and got in your car without looking back at one of your favorite places in the world.
I will run after your moving car
And I will follow you
You're my northern star
Luke was miserable for the rest of the summer. He didn’t want to admit it but he was lost without you. He wished he stopped your car as you left. He regretted everything he said. He was just scared you would find someone better than him at school now that he wasn't there.
Luke told himself that once the season started he wouldn’t have time to think about how much he missed you. Boy was he wrong.
He stalked your Instagram in his free time. He was sure he was almost always the first viewer of any story you posted and had to force himself to ignore your profile picture anytime it came up when he opened the app.
You looked like you hadn’t missed a beat once you got back to school. Always posting when you’d go out with friends or when you’d study at your favorite coffee shop.
You both had so many great memories there anytime you’d post your coffee order he could basically hear the espresso machines and the smell of coffee. He'd remember your laughter from when he had gotten foam on his top lip. Or the time you were so nervous for finals and wouldn’t look up from your computer until he got you a refill of your coffee. Your smile was so bright from such a small gesture he knew he had to do anything he could to see it.
Except he did the opposite. His last memory of you was full of tears as he watched your car pull away. He didn’t know what to do. Luke was a mess while you seemed fine. How could he ever convince you to take him back?
You don't know how much I need you
Yeah, I feel the weight
It's crushing me
You were a mess coming back to school. You missed Luke more than you thought you would. The two of you spent so much time together and when you couldn’t be with each other you would text every chance you’d get.
You missed his goofy smile and curly hair. Luke Hughes was everywhere. The memory of him was in the Library where you would have study dates, He was in your favorite bar where he couldn’t take his eyes off of you all night, He was in your classes where you would sit together and whisper random things back and forth. He was everywhere except where you needed him to be. With you.
Your friends always dragged you out even when all you wanted to do was stay in and watch your favorite TV show and wallow. They always made sure to take good photos so you could post “to make Luke know what he’s missing” they’d always say.
They basically had a schedule set of when to study with you or get coffee. You didn’t mean to make them watch over you as much as you did, but you couldn’t help how much you needed Luke.
Finally one night You convinced them that you were too busy with homework to hang out when really you were going to watch the New Jersey Devils season opener. Ethan Edwards saw right through your lies about studying because he knew you liked to finish most of your work at the beginning of the week.
He insisted on watching the game with you and you let him because he was the only one who remotely knew what you were feeling. You both watched pregame, and when the commentators showed Luke all you could notice were his eyebags and how tired he looked. Your heart shattered all over again.
You watched him get his first assist of the season and your heart clenched. If you were still together he would’ve called you after the game and told you all about it. Now you just felt like a spectator while he was all you could think about. Ethan turned to you and noticed how upset you were with tears threatening to spill over. He was tired of seeing his friends destroy themselves.
So, maybe, take me into your room
Without you, my soul is eternally doomed
You're the center of this universe
My sorry ass revolves around you
No, I can't do without you
Jack couldn’t take Luke’s self-pity anymore. All he would do was look at his phone and play hockey. Jack could tell it was affecting Luke more than he was letting on. His eyes were almost always bloodshot and he looked like he was moving through the motions at practice.
Luke was a shell of his former self and Jack knew he had to do something. He texted Ethan because he knew that besides Luke that’s who you would talk to the most. They both started plotting to get you back together. The Devils had a game against the Red Wings right before Thanksgiving and knew there had to be some way to get you there.
Ethan practically begged on his knees for you to come to the game. He told you he was gifted the tickets and would feel horrible to not go. Everyone else had already left for Thanksgiving, leaving you as his only option.
You weren’t stupid. You knew the game was against the Devils. You had the date marked in your planner as when you would have seen Luke if you were still together. You both looked forward to the game because it was the first time you would’ve seen him play in the NHL and then you would've gone to his parent’s lake house for Thanksgiving the next day. At least that's what was supposed to happen.
You only agreed to Ethan because you felt bad no one else could go. Ethan promised no funny business, and you could leave the game the second the final buzzer went off. It felt safe and you could see Jack. You missed Luke, but you were also close with Jack. It was something Luke loved about you, how great you got along with his brothers.
Luke had no idea about the plan Jack and Ethan were brewing. He was especially miserable because he knew if he didn’t mess up the best thing in his life several months ago, you would be at the game cheering him on. He was in hell beating himself over it. All he wanted was to see you in the Jersey he gave you right before his NHL debut.
Ethan came and picked you up all giddy when he noticed you were wearing a Hughes 43 jersey.
“What? It’s the only Devils gear I have, and I’m sure as hell not going to cheer for them in a Red Wings jersey,” You said without taking a breath.
“I wasn’t even going to say anything.”
You two find your seats and you realize how close to the ice it is. You’re on the Devils side facing the bench a couple rows up from the ice. Luke is definitely going to see you because of your proximity.
“If you had told me how close we were going to be I definitely would’ve worn-” You said before getting cut off.
“Don’t even finish that sentence we’re rooting for my team tonight,” Ethan said talking over the music.
The Devils start coming out for warm up and it doesn’t take Luke more than two seconds to see you. You both lock eyes and don’t look away. He notices you’re in the jersey he gave you, and his heart flutters with hope. He just stands there looking at you until Nico pushes him to tell him has to get ready for the game. You, however, look like a deer in headlights and your heart stops. You hadn’t seen Luke since the summer. Tears start to gather in your eyes and you know you have to leave.
“Ethan I can’t do this. I can’t be here,” You say with tears starting to fall.
“Please you promised me plus he can’t even do anything he’s on the ice,” Ethan says trying to convince you knowing it won’t work.
You start to gather your things when Luke notices. He rushes across the ice and knocks on the glass to get your attention. You instantly regret looking his way, but his eyes look desperate and excited your heart flutters the tiniest bit.
You read his mouth as he begs you to stay. You just look at him and Ethan debating what to do. You decide to stay and see what happens. Ethan's right he can’t do anything while he’s on the ice, right?
I'm throwing stones at your window
To get you to notice me
Don't make me stand outside, in the pouring rain
With a freshly ripped human heart from my rib cage
And a boom-box
How pathetic, babe
It was a hard loss for the Devils, but the end of the game meant you could finally leave. Ethan was right, Luke didn’t bother you for the rest of the game besides constantly looking at you when he wasn’t on the ice or there was a faceoff right in front of your seats.
As you and Ethan are getting ready to leave you get a text.
From moosey
please don’t leave
i really want to talk
You showed Ethan and he looked at you bewildered.
“You never changed his name?”
“I never had the heart,” You say looking back down at the texts. The three bubbles show up and disappear over and over again.
“I think you should go. What's the worst that could happen, right?” Ethan asks.
“I don’t know he can rip my heart out all over again and tell me off for coming to his game,” You say, swaying on your toes to your heels.
“He won’t do that trust me,” You don’t even have the energy to ask Ethan as your anxiousness bubbles up to your throat.
To moosey
where can we meet?
From moosey
come down to the locker room i can tell security you and ethan are coming
To moosey
ok
Luke has to stop himself from running to you when you get to the locker room. He wants to pick you up and spin you around like he used to do after his Michigan games. Instead, he walks up to you and says a simple hi.
“What did you want to talk about?” You whisper nervous about what he has to say.
“Us.” Your breath stops ready for him to tell you off for coming.
“I fucked up ending our relationship,” He says with his eyes turning red.
“Luke, why now? I was ready to fight for us but you dismissed me like I was nothing to you.”
“Because I was scared,” He admits. “I was scared you’d find someone who’d be able to give you more attention than I could. And that’s what you deserve, but God I can’t be without you. You’re the opposite of nothing, you’re my everything and I’m so lost without you. The last couple of months have been absolute hell.”
“You should’ve talked to me. I would’ve told you there’s no one better for me than you. The last couple of months have wrecked me.” You tell him.
So, don't turn away
You must know how much I need you, need you
Yeah, I can feel your pain
I hate to think how bad I treated you
But I know a place
Where the darkness can't reach us
“Please forgive me. Please can we just forget this all happened?” Luke begs you.
You just nod and launch yourself into his arms for a kiss. He deepens it by holding you in by your hair. Your heart flutters and you never want this moment to end.
“Would it be too much to ask you to spend Thanksgiving with us? I just don’t want to spend any more time away from you. But I get it-,” Luke asks nervously before you cut him off.
“No I’d love to come, I miss everybody.”
“Did I miss it? Did our plan work?” Jack comes into the hallway shouting excitedly.
“What plan?” Luke asks Ethan and Jack.
“You didn’t,” You say.
“Oh but we did, who do you think gave me the tickets?” said Ethan mischievously.
“Well I guess your plan did work, good job boys,” you say with a blush on your cheeks.
Luke kisses your cheek and tells Jack you are spending Thanksgiving with the family and you won't be going anywhere anytime soon. You finally feel like you’re back where you belong. While Luke feels the relief of finally having his world back.
No, I can't do without you, baby
Maybe, take me into your room
Without you, my soul is eternally doomed
You're the center of this universe
My sorry ass revolves around you
You— And again

Premise: It was supposed to be a quick trip in-n-out of the house to pack for her weekend excursion at the Cullen residence, but when Bella gets sidetracked talking to her dad, it results in Charlie being introduced to a member of the Cullen family who's a sight for sore eyes and a silver tongue.
----------------------------
“Give me five minutes,” Bella climbed the steps of her home, shooting a glance to the person over her shoulder, “I need to grab a few things and let my dad know I’m not being kidnapped…or skipping town again.” Without waiting for their reply, Bella entered the house and shouted for Charlie.
“In here!” he called from the kitchen, Bella walking in to find him seated at the table, newspaper in hand as he ate lunch. Out of uniform as it happened to be the rare occasion he got the day off.
“I’m staying over at the Cullens this weekend,” she announced, then quickly added at his taken aback expression, “if that’s alright with you. Alice wants to have a sleepover while the rest of her family is camping.”
Shrugging, not really putting up a fight, Charlie replies, “That’s fine. Is it just you two?” Bella nods, making him hum and visibly pleased. “Cool. Just check in once a day for your old man’s sake.”
“Of course,” with a tight smile, Bella turns on her heel and rushes up the stairs. Packing her Jansport and a duffle bag with clothes, her homework, and toiletries to last till Sunday. Lastly grabbing her journal and copy of Wuthering Heights on her way out.
Setting her bags by the door, she goes back to the kitchen, seeing Charlie’s back to her as he washes the dishes in the sink. “You gonna be okay while I’m gone?”
“Bella, I'm a grown man and know how to take care of myself. Go, have fun with your friend.”
She bites her lip, shuffling on her feet, “Are you sure you’re fine with me staying over there?”
“You said it’s just you and Alice, I see no reason to think otherwise,” drying his hands with a towel, he turns to face her, slightly shrugging, “she’s a nice girl and--.”
“You like her more than Edward,” She finishes his sentence with a defeated sigh. She’ll never change his mind. And nothing Edward could do will win him Charlie’s favor. It was a losing battle they were fighting.
Walking up to the counter, Bella leaned her back against the surface while keeping her attention on her dad. “I know, I just thought…after what happened last fall…”
“Please, don’t remind me, Bella.”
She flushed again, “I’m sorry. And I know it doesn’t make up for what I did or what part the Cullens’ played in it…but they’re my friends. And Edward is a part of my life, Dad. I’d like for you to find some forgiveness if you can.”
Charlie simply shakes his head, not really believing his next words but saying them for her sake, “You forgave them. I’ll try to. I may not know the whole story but I trust you--well I trust your judgment,” he corrects, narrowing his brows resulting in heat to reach Bella’s cheeks. Reminded of her impulsive trip to Italy.
Which he doesn’t even know the whole story about. Best he didn’t. Some secrets were worth keeping
Speaking of secrets. Bella completely forgot about the person waiting for her outside. Who took it upon herself to interrupt the conversation between father and daughter once her patience began to run thin.
“Bella,” The human swore her heart stopped, snapping her head to the entrance of the kitchen to find the source of the voice leaning against the doorframe with a mischievous smirk. Obvious delight in her eyes which were obscured by the tinted round sunglasses she wore. Charlie, also surprised by the sudden interruption--of a stranger no less in his house, spun around with wide eyes, immediately becoming flustered. “You didn’t say your father was so handsome.”
The sound Charlie choked on caused the woman’s smirk to widen. Bella shooting a, ‘what the hell?’ look, before saying, “I told you I’d be right out.”
“You said five minutes,” barely glancing at her watch, her tone shifted to mock annoyance. “It’s been six. Now, aren’t you going to introduce me? It’s been so long since this town has had anyone that’s a sight for sore eyes.”
Rolling her eyes, Bella waved a hand and turned to Charlie with apologetic eyes, who was perplexed, flushed by her flirtation, and awaiting an explanation. “Dad, this is Y/n Cullen. Carlisle’s sister.”
“Sister?” he finally found his voice, shocked by the revelation, yet somehow gathered himself to shake her gloved hand when she presented it. Having not realized she’d pushed off the doorframe and approached the two. “I didn’t know the doctor had a sister.”
“Oh,” she removed her sunglasses, revealing golden eyes. The same stunning color of her family. “Forgive my little brother.” Little was really pushing it. Carlisle had over 200 years on Y/n, but she was physically older having been transformed in her early to mid 30s. “We haven’t seen each other in years. Plus he’s too busy saving lives and raising children. I wouldn’t put it past the small detail being omitted, not to mention I’m rarely in the country to check in.”
Charlie, a little unsettled by her nonchalant way of saying the two were estranged, says, “What brings you back to town? Bella mentioned the Cullens were going camping.”
‘Oh you know, just preparing to fight against an army of newborn vampires to repay a debt owed to my dear brother and nephew after they killed my former lover who tried to kill me.’
“Yes, we leave this afternoon for the mountains,” Y/n smiles, still thinking about what awaits them in the days to come. “I’m not one for camping, but it’ll be nice to spend some time with my brother and the family after so many years abroad. And to answer your question, I came back home for Edward, Alice and Jasper’s graduation.”
“Y/n arrived last month and will be staying for a few weeks.” Bella interjected, trying to hide the stress in her voice. “But we met last summer.” The woman smirked, bringing a finger to her lips as the memory of their first meeting flashed in her mind. Where Y/n mistaken Bella for a stray human and Edward had to tackle her away, leaving poor Bella partially traumatized. Ever since then the two have developed a sisterly/aunt-niece relationship.
“Total misunderstanding,” Y/n waved a hand, winking at the man and ignoring the warning look she was receiving from Bella. “I had one too many that night and may have said or done some things I’m not proud of. Especially for a first meeting. But Bella here is an angel, and luckily there were no hard feelings. Am I right?” Bella just sent a thumbs up, willing the conversation to end and save her father from Y/n’s antics.
“Well we’re gonna go,” Bella leans to give Charlie a kiss on the cheek, gesturing for Y/n to start walking to the door. “Don’t want to keep Alice waiting before she decides to hunt us down.”
Y/n, humored by the girl and loving the way she and her father get easily flustered, goes, “Oh alright. Charlie, it was a pleasure to meet you,” while not hiding the way her eyes flicker up and down his body. Lips curling, liking what she saw.
Shaking her hand once more, this time longer and the touch lingering as they let go, Charlie smiles, “You as well, Y/n.”
“While I’m in town I could use a tour guide. It’s been ages as I’ve said since I’ve been in Forks and would love to know what all the hot spots are. As the chief of police,” her white teeth flash, nearly blinding the humans by their brightness, “care to show a lady around town?”
Desperately trying to not become red as a tomato, Charlie holds himself together and accepts the offer, “I’d be honored to.”
It’d been years since he caught the attention of a woman. The last date he went on was probably before Bella moved in. Or longer than that with how busy work had been. Now here he was with the most beautiful woman he’d ever seen, in his kitchen, chatting him up and not afraid to show her attraction.
“Wonderful,” Y/n mentally laughs at the exasperated reaction by Bella. Focusing on the handsome man in front of her. “I’ll be in touch.” Sending one last wink, Y/n turns on her heel and exits the kitchen. Bella follows her out, but not before giving one last apologetic glance to her father and grabs her bags as the two leave the house.
“Did you really have to do that?”
“What?” Y/n laughs/scoffs, moving to the driver’s side of her classic Ford Mustang. Bella putting her bags in the front seat while tsking. “Can’t a lady flirt and have some fun without being judged for once in her life.”
“I don’t care who you flirt with, Y/n. I’m not like Carlisle or Edward,” Bella buckles in, hearing the roar of the engine fill her ears. Letting her hands fall to her lap, she turns to the vampire with pleading eyes. “But he’s my dad. And he doesn’t know about anything. So please don’t mess with him--especially when you’re leaving once this is all over.”
“Relax,” Y/n places her sunglasses back on the bridge of her nose, leaning against the smooth leather of the seat. “I’m not going to get tangled with your father. He seems like a good guy. But I’m not kidding when I say he’s a sight for sore eyes.” Bella groans, igniting a laugh from the vampire. “Listen I’ve been around the world and this town takes the cake for the blandest looking men I’ve ever seen. The women are gorgeous and can do way better than what they’re given. But damn,” a low whistle leaves her lips.
Bella groans again, rubbing her temple, “Okay I get it. You think my dad is attractive. Now can we please go?”
With one last obnoxious laugh, Y/n steps on the gas and drives them away from the house. Blasting Price’s ‘Let’s Go Crazy,’ for all ears to hear. To which Y/n casually drops that she partied with Prince back in the 80s. And while Bella tried to assure herself Y/n would adhere to her promise not to mess with Charlie, she couldn’t help but think of the way her father lit up during that short encounter. Like he was mesmerized.
Something she hadn’t seen from him in years.
August 13th
The reception was in full swing. Bella held tight to Edward’s hand as he led them around to greet the guests. Alice had really gone all out on the perfect ceremony followed by the perfect party. Of course she had help from Rosalie and Y/n, who ended up staying after the newborn army ordeal once Edward and Bella announced their engagement. A decision which surprised everyone, but Carlisle the most.
And Bella had a tiny inkling the reason involved the person she was approaching the couple with.
“Well I gotta say,” Charlie began, beer in one hand and the other holding Y/n’s. Both wearing matching smiles. “Alice sure knows how to throw a party.” Edward chuckled, pulling Bella closer to him as he wrapped an arm around her shoulder.
“I agree.”
“That’s the last time I’ll ever put my two cents in when it comes to planning an event,” Y/n comments, leaning into Charlie’s side. Her purple satin dress complimenting his dapper tuxedo. “Felt like I was going to lose my mind.”
“Thank you, Y/n, for everything. I know going head-to-head with Alice is a tough battle,” Bella teases, causing the woman to playfully gasp and the two men grinning. The sight of her father looking happy brought a smile to Bella’s lips, beaming at the way he looked ten years younger. All the usual stress and tiredness in his features disappearing.
After the battle in June, Charlie held his promise to show Y/n around town. Then the meetings continued. And when Y/n planned to leave Forks, her debt to the family paid, she suddenly announced she was renting a small home on the outskirts of town, leaving the number to a landline phone she installed.
“Carlisle, I love you. And I love this family like they are my blood one,” she said to him on her way out of the Cullen home, the older vampire following her with a million questions. “But I'd rather get my head ripped off by Aro than live under the same roof as you and your heathens you call teenagers. Trouble seems to follow you lot, and I do not wish the same for me. So,” patting his cheek like a sister would a brother, Y/n blows a kiss and scurries off, “call me if you need or drop by…but I can’t assure I’ll be of service.”
Yeah, it wasn’t long before they found out from Alice’s visions Y/n was seeing Charlie Swan. Not to mention Bella came home to Y/n’s Mustang in their driveway. Where she walked in to find Y/n pretending to enjoy a cup of coffee while she and Charlie discussed Italian history.
Two months later, the two have officially entered a relationship. Bella was initially reluctant to accept it, but upon seeing their interactions, and the obvious affection they shared, she knew it would be wrong to come in between their happiness.
And it would also make her a hypocrite if we’re being real.
“Is it like us?” she asked Edward one night, cuddling him in her bed while Charlie sleeps down the hall. “In Italy, Aro said my blood sings to you. Does his sing to her?” She felt him shake his head.
“What we have is rare. Most vampires never meet their blood singer--and in some cases become so overwhelmed by the scent they end up killing them.” Bella shivers, recalling the time Edward told the story of Emmett killing his blood singer. “But the feelings my aunt shares toward your dad is like the rest of my family. What Carlisle felt when he met Esme. Why Rosalie begged him to change Emmett when she found him. Why Alice waited decades at the restaurant for Jasper.”
She understood where he was going. Realizing the extent of Y/n’s fondness for Charlie. The sparks that collided in their first meeting and continued with each encounter.
But Bella made Y/n swear to her she’d come clean to Charlie before the year was over. Figuring out the next step though….that was a conversation for another day.
“Well we wanted to offer our congratulations,” Charlie’s voice pulled Bella out of her thoughts, bringing her back to the present. “We know a lot of people wish to do the same, so we won’t hold you up.”
“Thank you, dad,” Bella let go of her husband to embrace her father, moving to Y/n to do the same while Edward shook Charlie’s hand. “And thank you, Y/n.”
“Of course. It’s not every day your favorite nephew gets married.”
“Don’t let Emmett hear that,” Edward jokes, smirking when he hears his brother’s thought from across the dance floor, ‘I heard that!!’
At that moment the beat of TLC’s ‘Baby-Baby-Baby’ starts to play, prompting Y/n to tug on Charlie’s hand. “Now this is my song. C’mon doll face, let’s show them how it’s done.” Flushing red, Charlie downs the rest of his beer, handing the empty glass to Edward--who winks at him while Bella holds back a giggle, and follows his girlfriend to the dance floor. Joining Carlisle and Esme, and Billy and Sue.
“You know,” Edward leans down to whisper, grinning as he takes in the scene of his aunt and Bella’s father dancing. “I would’ve never guessed your dad would be the one to ground the infamous Y/n Cullen.”
“Baby, baby, baby
I got so much love in me
Oh baby, baby
Baby, baby, baby
'Cause if you gonna get me off
You got to love me deep”
Tilting her head back with laughter, Bella nuzzles into his touch, admiring the scene as well when she brings her gaze down again. “I never thought I’d see the day Charlie Swan gets sweeped off his feet. By the Doctor’s sister nonetheless.”
“Baby, baby, baby
I got so much love in me
Oh baby, baby
Baby, baby, baby
'Cause if you gonna get me off
You got to love me deep”
Chuckling, Edward leans his head on hers, “They make a good pair. Don’t they?”
She agrees with a hum, “They do.” Bella adjusts their position, so they are now facing each other on the dance floor, swaying to TLC like everyone else. Mouthing along to the words and at one point meeting Y/n’s eyes. The two share a wholesome look, igniting a loving wink from the vampire to the human girl's nod of respect.
“I can have any man that I want to
Time and place that I choose to
But I think you know that I would rather be here with you, yeah.”

DogDay x Reader part 15
<-----part 14
I slept for about four hours before DogDay woke me up saying he needed to head out and that I should go home and rest up. I didn’t want to leave but I needed to run errands and make some calls. DogDay then carried me to the cable car and continued to hold onto me while we waited. “So, what are you going to do about CatNap?” “I can’t talk to him now but later tonight I’ll have a word with him. I’ll also talk to Sarah; see if she knows why he’s acting like that.” I nodded and leaned into his chest. I started thinking about some stuff; that is until I remembered something very important.
Its Damians birthday today.
“Oh my gosh! It’s Damians birthday today!” I looked up at DogDay and said, “I can’t leave, it’s his birthday and I wanted to spend it with him.” “Oh man, I had nearly forgotten about his birthday; but Angel you’re not looking the best right now. I think you should just go home and rest up there.” I shook my head no and said, “I can rest up in the infirmary. I need to tell Damian happy birthday and tell him the good news.” With a heavy sigh DogDay nodded and carried me inside Home Sweet Home and had one of the doctors look at me.
---------------
Surprisingly I didn’t break anything, just had bruises. The doctor gave me Tylenol and was about to leave when he suddenly said, “I hear you’re taking Damian.” I swallowed the pills and replied, “Yes, I take him home tomorrow.” The doctor smiled and nodded while saying, “He’s a good kid, always past the tests with flying colors. We were this close to having him-” The doctor suddenly stopped talking and laughed nervously. “Having him what?” I asked. “Nothing, I misspoke. Get some rest Ms. Y/N.” The doctor quickly exited the room before I could say anything else.
---------------
It had been two hours and already I was feeling much better. Laying down was starting to bore me so I decided that I would go out and try to find Damian.
When I exited Home Sweet Home, I spotted Hoppy playing hopscotch with her group and KickenChicken playing duck duck goose with his group. I couldn’t help but smile. Seeing them interact with the kids made me feel happy. I would miss them both, even if KickenChicken did hit on me from time to time. Hopefully DogDay will convince them to leave here and come with me.
Hoppy spotted me and called me over to her group. “Hey Y/N! Wanna play some hopscotch with us?” I politely declined and asked her if she had seen Damian. “Oh yeah little dude! I think he and DogDay are in the Playhouse.” I could feel my palms getting sweaty just thinking about going back into the Playhouse. Three hours of hiding and not getting caught. “Y/N? You okay?” I shook my head and focused back on Hoppy. “Yeah, yeah, I’m fine. On second thought, I think I will join you for a game.” Hoppy smiled and said, “Atta girl!” She then took my hand and led me over to her group.
---------------
Once I played a few games of hopscotch KickenChicken then called me over to play a new game with his group. I really wanted to go see Damian, but he hasn’t come out of the Playhouse yet. With a heavy sigh I agreed and KickenChicken held onto my hand and led me to his group.
“Ms. DogDay!” is what KickenChicken’s group yelled out when they saw me. Even though I wasn’t in uniform they still called me that; it was cute. “Hello.” I waved at them with my free hand. “Looks like I don’t need to introduce you Ang- I mean Y/N.” I gave a small smile to KickenChicken. “Thank you for using my name, now can you please let go of my hand? Your feathers are making my hand itch.” “Oh sure, sorry.” KickenChicken then let go of my hand and I softly scratched my hand that he was holding.
I looked around and didn’t see Emily around. Thinking back to when I was with Hoppy I didn’t notice Edward around either. “Hey Kicken, where’s Emily today?” “She hasn’t been scheduled in a couple of days, not sure why though... In fact I think most of the helpers haven't been put on the schedule; you and Sarah seem to be the only ones here.” “Huh, I wonder why.” KickenChicken shrugged his shoulders and said, “Makes no difference to me. I can handle these kids all on my own. Now to our game.”
KickenChicken decided to play red light, green light which I was all for it. I was chosen to be the one who says the words while he and his group tried to get to me. I headed up to the duck pond and turned around before saying, “Red light green light one two three!” I quickly turned around and everyone froze in place. I then turned back around, repeated the words, and turned around even faster next time. Some kids moved up a little bit while others moved and got out.
“Red light green light one two three!” When I turned around, I was surprised to see both DogDay and Damian playing along. DogDay was the closest one to me while Damian was a few feet behind him. I swallowed hard as I knew that DogDay would get me. I slowly turned back around and said, “Red light- AHH!” “I gotcha Angel!” DogDay picked me up and gave me a gentle squeeze. “Haha, seems like you did.” DogDay then put me down and I smiled over to Damian and walked towards him. “Happy birthday kiddo!” I held out my arms towards him and he happily ran up to me and hugged me. “Thank you, Ms. Y/N. Mr. DogDay said you needed to speak with me?” I looked over to DogDay and he gave me a thumbs up. “Uh yes, I have a present for you.” Damians eyes gleamed with joy. “We’ll be down the hill when you’re done Angel.” Before he walked away DogDay kissed the top of my head and ruffled up Damians hair a little bit. “Talk to ya later Y/N.” I heard KickenChicken call out to me while he and DogDay walked down the hill together.
I took Damians hand in mine and I led him over to the duck pond. “Go ahead and have a seat.” I said gently to him. Damian sat down and looked at me with patience but also curiosity. I took a seat next to him and suddenly felt nervous telling him that I was now his mom. “So um, how is your birthday going so far?” “It’s alright. Mr. DogDay gave me another card.” “Ah yes, he told me that’s what he normally gets you. Not to sound rude to DogDay, but I think my gift is much better than that.” Damian smiled at me. “Okay let me not stall anymore.... tomorrow will be our last day here because I have officially adopted you and I am taking you to your new home tomorrow.”
Damian just stared at me for a couple of seconds before he said, “You mean you adopted me? And I get to go with you?” Suddenly Damian started crying. “Damian are you-” I was cut off when Damian jumped on me and gave me a very tight hug. “I can’t believe I finally got adopted! You're my mom now! Does that mean Mr. DogDay is now my legal dad?” I cleared my throat and chuckled nervously while saying, “No, me and DogDay are not married.” Damian looked at me and said, “But is he coming with us?” My heart sank when he asked that. “Not right now. I am trying to make it possible so that he can come with us; and everyone else too.” I then explained what my plan was to Damian and I’m not sure if he fully understood it, but he smiled and seemed excited about it.
---------------
Once I finished talking with Damian, I led us both down over to DogDay. When we reached the bottom, my phone started ringing and I handed Damian over to DogDay while I checked to see who was calling me. “Hello? Yes, this is her. Uh huh. Really? That’s wonderful! Yes yes I’ll be there in an hour! Thank you!” “You seem excited Angel.” I squealed in excitement as I said, “I just got a call from the city and my request for a plot of land has been accepted! I need to head over there and start planning everything!” “Really? That’s amazing Angel!” “I don’t know what that means but yay Ms. Y/N! I mean mom!”
I hugged Damian goodbye and stood on my tippy toes and gave DogDay a kiss on his nose. “I’ll call you after I finish, okay?” DogDay smiled lovingly at me while saying, “I already miss you Angel, but I look forward to your call.” “Bye mom! See you tomorrow!” “Bye, I love you both!” “We love you too!” I waved goodbye and headed over to the cable car, excited to get started on my project. It’s all coming together.

Best Friend🍂
Summary: Being Seth’s best friend was never a dull moment, always there to cheer y/n up until one day he suddenly stops talking to her and she’s left confused and hurt
“Hey Seth are you still coming over today?” I asked over the phone feeling all warm inside just talking to him
“Of course wouldn’t miss it for the world!” We exchanged goodbyes and I just waited for him to come over
Ever since Seth and I became friends when we were kids, around 6, every Friday we would have a movie night and never once did we miss one
I heard a knock on my door and there he was, smiling like usual, his long hair blowing in the wind as if he was a model
“Well are you going to let me in or just stare at me” he laughed as he pushed by gently and threw himself down on the couch
I blushed and closed the door going to sit next to him
“So what are we going to watch tonight?” He asked as he threw a blanket over the both of us and pulled me to lay down against his chest, it was normal for us but probably looked different from the outside
“Its up to you! I’m fine with anything” I said as I handed him the remote and snuggled into the blanket
Moments like these were what I held onto, I’ll never know when he finds the one and then I won’t have this anymore, so Friday night were what I waited for every week
He turned on an old 80s movie and we laid in silence snacking on gummies and watching
“How’s everything been?” He asked as he combed his fingers through my hair
“Tough, I’ve barely gotten any sleep lately”
“She still screaming at night?” He asked
“Every night since he left”
Bella was my sister and ever since her boyfriend, Edward, left she’s been miserable, I’ve tried everything to cheer her up but it doesn’t seem to work, me and dad don’t know what to do with her, maybe if I was closer to her maybe I’d know how to help but, we haven’t lived together for years until she came back a year ago, we just have to wait until she comes to terms with everything
“Maybe you could come have a sleepover at my place, get some rest” he hummed
“Id love that but you know how Leah feels about me ever since bella returned” I sighed
Me and Leah use to be friends but then bella came back and she turned to glaring at me, leaving the room every time I’d enter and I never knew why
“She’ll get better I hope, I’ll get sleep eventually, maybe I’ll camp out outside” I laughed feeling sleep slowly creep up on my from the warmth he was creating
“Get some sleep now” he hummed again lulling me to sleep
•*•*•*•
I woke up to the sun in my eyes but I noticed the absence of the warmth that I loved, I opened my eyes and he was gone it was just me on the couch wrapped snuggly in the blanket
I got up with the blanket draped over my shoulders, I walked to the kitchen and dialed the Clearwater residence
“Hello!” I heard that sweet voice of Seth’s mom
“Hi Mrs.Clearwater it’s y/n I was wondering if Seth was there? He left last night without waking me and I wanted to make sure he made it home safe”
“Oh ya, he came back late last night, he said he wasn’t feeling well and he’s come down with a fever”
“Oh no, tell him to call me when he feels better, could I come over and bring him soup?”
“Its probably best if you stay away for a while, don’t want you coming down with this either, but I’ll tell him you called dear” and with that she hung up which was not like her at all
•*•*•*•
I called back everyday for a week and it was the same answer for the first few days, that he was just sick but after the first few days they stopped answering and it was worrying me, Sue, Harry or Seth never treated me like this and it hurt to be completely honest
I didn’t have many friends at school and since Seth was my best friend and went to a different school down at la push, it kinda sucked being in this position
“Hey sweetie you okay?” I turned on the couch to see dad at the door coming back from working
“Oh I’m alright, ummm have you talked to Sue or Harry lately?” I asked
“Ya Harry is coming by later why what’s up?”
“Have they said anything about Seth?”
“Harry mentioned he was under the weather, did something happened between you guys?” He asked sitting in his lounge chair
“I don’t know, we had our movie night last week and I fell asleep but when I woke up he was gone and hasn’t called since and you know he doesn’t do that and tonight is our movie night again and…and I’m just worried, what if maybe I did something to upset him” I asked as my voice waivered
“Hey don’t stress I’m sure it’s nothing, maybe you should go out, clear your head for tonight”
“Maybe you’re right” I sighed as I got up grabbed my headphones, jacket and shoes and head out to the forest paths behind the house
I kept walking through the woods until I reached the cliffs where I knew some guys would recreationally jump
I sat down near the edge feeling the cool wind blow against my skin calming me down, still listening to the music Seth showed me
I stayed like that for a while until the sky turned orange and purple as the sun set
I stood up to leave but when I turned around I was met with glowing eyes

It's the Little Things
Based on this request: would you be able to write Gotham Edward and pregnant wife, and ed just being super soft and protective when they are both at work. She works with ms Kringle in the archives, hopefully that makes sense. from @sirlsplayland
Here you are! *Familiar Characters are not mine! They belong to the writers/creators of the Batman Universe and "Gotham".
Warnings: Fluff! Mentions of pregnancy, early season 1 Kringle. Protective Edward and Protective reader
Pairings: Edward Nygma x fem!wife reader, Kristin Kringle
You let out a sigh of relief and closed your eyes when you sank down into the not-so-comfortable chair in your and Kristin’s office. While it wasn’t your ideal seat, anywhere you could get off your feet was a blessing at this point. The door opened, but you didn’t bother to open your eyes until the smell of peppermint tea hit your nose.
“Your morning sickness is always the worst around lunch,” came the voice of your husband. You smiled and let your eyes open to look at him. “Thank you, Ed. You didn’t have to do this.” Edward rolled his eyes as he always did when you said things like that. You took the mug, noting that it was Edward’s favorite one with the green question mark. A gift from you in the early stages of your relationship.
“Have you eaten?” You shook your head, “I haven’t been as hungry today.” Edward kissed your forehead. “Something small then. I’ll be right back.”
Edward practically ran into Kristin as he was leaving the room. He mumbled out an apology, knowing that your co-worker didn’t like him, and left to grab your lunch. “I still don’t understand what you see in him,” Kristin said when she sat in her seat across from her. You glared. “Watch it, Kringle.”
“I’m sorry, Y/N! He’s just…strange.” You rolled your eyes. “We’re all strange. You just haven’t met someone to match your strange yet, but if you insult my husband again, I will personally make sure you can’t breathe through your nose for at least a week. Got it?” Kristin’s eyes widened briefly, but nodded. She’s seen your temper before and didn’t want to be on the receiving end of it. You went back to your paperwork.
A few moments later, Edward returned with food and a smile. “Lunch, my lady.” You giggled and thanked him. Then you groaned a bit, causing him to nearly drop your food. “What’s wrong? Are you okay? Is the baby?” You bit back a laugh at his sudden frantic energy.
“I’m fine, Ed. Your child just decided to play soccer for a moment, like they do every single time you speak.” Edward placed a hand on your stomach, instantly calming the child within. Another happy sigh escaped you and Edward chuckled. Kristin tried to ignore the two of you, but she was honestly jealous. She wanted what you had.
“Can I get you anything before I get back to my own work?” Edward asked and you shook your head. “No thank you. But could we get takeout for supper?” Another kiss to your forehead. “What baby wants, baby gets,” he replied before nodding to Kristin and leaving your office yet again.
You turned to Kristin. “That’s why I love him. It’s the little things. Knowing when my morning sickness is the worst and bringing me tea to soothe my stomach. In his favorite mug, no less. Bringing me lunch and checking in on me even before I got pregnant. We know each other’s hobbies and favorite foods. I can be completely myself with him and he with me. I know I don’t have to guess what Edward is feeling because he feels safe enough to tell me. We don’t have to face this dark world alone. Edward is my rock and I’m his.”
Kristin said nothing and you stretched. “You know what, I think I’m gonna head out for the day. Maybe start my maternity leave a little early. When I come back, I expect you to have a better attitude surrounding my husband, ‘kay?” With that, you got up, grabbed your food, and waddled your happy, seven-months pregnant self out of the office only to find Edward right around the corner.
Without giving you a chance to speak, Edward gently cupped your face and placed a kiss on your lips. “I love you.” You smiled at him. “I love you too. You heard that, huh?” He nodded. “I could tell you had been arguing before I brought your lunch. I wanted to make sure you were okay. But you started talking and I didn’t want to interrupt. Thank you, for everything. For standing up for me. For us.”
“You don’t have to thank me for that, Ed. I adore you and all your strange idiosyncrasies.” Edward wrapped his arms around you and gave you a little hug. “I’m going to the captain and putting in for my maternity leave right now. I need a break from that woman in there.”
“Want me to go with you?” You agreed and Edward took your hand in his as the two of you walked toward the captain’s office. Edward gave little glares to anyone who looked at you strangely and you laughed. Once in the office, Edward guided you to a seat and then slid something toward you so you could put your feet up. As you spoke with the captain, you felt Edward’s presence, making sure you were okay and your heart felt full and light. It really was the little things.

Total Eclipse Of The Heart (Part 9)
Jacob Black x Vampire!Swan Reader
This has been in my drafts for over 2 years 😂Proceed with caution, steamy make out session and some blood drinking.
Series Masterlist
It has been ten minutes…maybe more since Y/N was taken into the Cullen’s meeting room. It’s been radio silence, since Bella and Edward came back from their honeymoon. When Y/N does emerge, Jacob knows immediately, something is very wrong.
“Jacob,” she reaches a hand toward him. “Come with me?”
Jake moves to stand, twining their fingers and allowing the vampire to lead him out the front door, down to his bike. He leans against it, expectantly. “You gonna tell me what the hell’s going on?”
“Bella’s pregnant.”
“With what exactly?” Jacob grimaces.
“Carlisle isn’t sure, they’re…we’re trying to figure it out.”
“So make them take it out of her, he’s a doctor.”
“Jake,” Y/N shakes her head, “she doesn’t want it out.”
“What?”
“It’s her choice and I won’t take it from her.” She knows what it feels like.
“This is different.” This is fucked.
“She thinks Carlisle can turn her at the last minute.” Y/N fidgets with his fingers as she speaks.
“Can he?” The wolf clears his throat.
“It’s possible.”
“But not probable.”
“Baby,” Y/N frowns, “I don’t want to fight. I need you to help me, help her.”
Jacob sighs, “what can I do?”
————————————————————————
Charlie is not so easily swayed, he knows Y/N knows something. He watches his eldest daughter intently at breakfast.
Bella is sick with some kind of bug, currently recovering at a luxury facility in Sweden. Or so the story goes.
The sheriff eyes his oldest daughter over the morning paper.
Y/N catches him, meeting his eye with an awkward smile as she forces a spoonful of cereal into her mouth.
“When did we start lying to each other, kid?” Charlie asks.
“When it became necessary to keep you safe. I think it’s the same on your end.”
Charlie is taken aback by this. It’s the most honest answer he’s got from her in months. “If you’re in some kind of trouble, or Bella is-”
“It’s not the kind of trouble you can help me with.”
“Wish you’d at least talk to me about it.”
“I wish I could, Dad.” Y/N admits.
“But you can’t. For the sake of my safety?” He knows this game.
“All of ours.”
Charlie sighs. “Do you know anything else about Bella? How she’s doing?”
“I know she’s alright.” For now. “That’s all I know.”
————————————————————————
Days pass in a blur, Bella withering away as her belly grows.
“How’s dad?” She asks Y/N, curling both legs up under her, on the couch.
Y/N tosses her a blanket. “He’s alright. He misses you though.” She can’t imagine what he’ll be like when they actually…leave.
Bella nods. “How are you?”
“I’m ok.” Y/N lifts a shoulder. She has to be. “The baby could be here anytime now, I need to hunt so I’ll be gone for the day.”
“That’s fine.” Bella’s teeth chatter, she is so cold.
“I’ll leave Jacob with you, he can be your personal hot box.”
“N-no.” Bella forces out, “you don’t have to.”
“I’m not letting you suffer anymore than you already are, Bella.” Y/N mutters, bitterly.
Jacob is leaning against the doorframe, with his arms crossed, waiting for his queue.
Y/N makes her way over to him, feeling his arms encircle her waist, crushing her to him. She nuzzles into the crook of his neck. “Will you stay with her?”
“Yeah,” his words are lost in her hair.
She presses a kiss to his jugular.
“I would let you.” Jacob whispers, “if you want to try, so you don’t have to leave her like this.”
Y/N pulls back, searching his eyes. “No, Jake.” It’s come up before. Bite me.
“I’m not affected by your venom unless I’m already injured.”
“No.”
“It’s no different than you drinking from an animal. I heal fast, it won’t be an issue.”
Y/N opens her mouth to protest.
“I can feel you,” Jacob reminds her. “There’s nothing to feel bad or guilty about. I want you to.”
“Are you sure?” Y/N doesn’t want to further complicate their relationship.
He nods, “come on.” They find an unoccupied room in the Cullen’s home. Jacob flops down on their cream colored sofa, patting his lap.
Y/N eyes him, warily. Climbing to sit over top his thighs, facing him.
Jacob brushes Y/N’s hair over her shoulders and out of the way. Kissing her lips, her forehead, her nose, “bite me.”
She finds a spot on the side of his neck, peppering his beautiful skin with her kisses, breaking it with her teeth.
Jacob groans, turning his head to give her better access.
Y/N whimpers as his blood fills her mouth, trickling down to ease the burning in her throat.
“You’re ok.” He swallows and she feels it against her tongue. “I love you.”
Fuck. Y/N rolls her hips against his. “I love you.”
“I know,” he guides her back to the opening on his neck. His heart beats faster at the pull of her sucking swallows, he hopes she never stops. Jacob sighs contently as she takes her fill of him on the Cullen’s sitting room couch.
Her lips are on his, the moment she’s finished. His bitter blood in her mouth, it’s not as good as the animals she’s accustomed to feeding from. The only thing making the taste bearable is the knowledge that it’s his. Jacob’s blood fueling her, filling her. Belonging to him so wholly.
Jacob tastes the blood and kisses her anyway. The wound on his neck has already begun to heal, he pulls her closer. He never wants her to drink from anything but him again.
Perhaps it’s the imprint, or the reincarnation, maybe it’s just love. Whatever the culprit may be, they are in it now, too deep to ever surface.
Only one thing could steal them from revelry now. The sound of Bella’s tortured screams. The baby is coming.

Sniffles and Snuggles
Eddie X Fem!Reader
Word Count : 0.8k
Warnings : not proofread, petnames, medication mentioned, the readers sick??
A/N : Hellooooo! Thank you so much for the request, i hope this was okay for you and you enjoyed 🫶🏻
~ / / / * \ \ \ ~
You’d felt awful all day, a cold had been going round and it had finally made its way to you. Sat in bed, tissues everywhere, a hot cup of honey and lemon on the side.
Sniffing filled the otherwise quiet room, your nose was stuffy and you just felt gross. It was the worst. Letting out a loud sneeze, you groaned as your head hit the soft pillows behind.
You’d been attempting to sleep it off all day, but had been woken every time by a violent cough or someone coming to bring you medication.
A small tapping noise confused your foggy mind, scrunching your face you pushed up to a sitting position. The tap came again. Looking over at your window with confusion, you saw a small stone hit it - the tapping noise.
Climbing out of bed on wobbly legs, you stumbled over to your window, pulling it open. There stood your boyfriend, Eddie Munson.
“What are you doing here?” you whisper shouted. “Coming to make sure you’re okay,” he smiled.
“Eddie my parents will kill you.”
“That’s why they’ll never know I’m here.”
Sighing, you shook your head, making your way back to bed. Knowing that Eddie was currently scrambling up the drain - how this boy had survived this long you had no idea.
You couldn’t help but laugh as he fell through the window, making your throat tickle - once again sending you into a coughing fit.
“Oh Sweetheart,” Eddie cooed, shutting the window and making his way to you. His cool hands fell on your warm face, making you hum. “Feel nice?”
“Very,” you croaked.
“Brought you some treats.”
“You didn’t need to do that.”
“I know, but my girl is sick.” You were about to reply when another voice came from outside your door. Eddie flung himself on the floor, shuffling under your bed.
“Honey you okay?”
“Yeah dad, sorry I was just using the bathroom and tripped.”
“Do you need anything?”
“I’m okay, just going to try and sleep.”
“Okay Honey, well I’ll come and check on your later.”
Listening to his footsteps get further away, eventually going down the stairs. “Munson, you can come out now.” Curly hair covered the majority of his face. “It’s a good look for you,” you teased, as he climbed back on the bed.
“Wow I come here to be a nice and loving boyfriend and this is what I get.” Pushing his hair back you smiled, “There’s that pretty face.” His face began to burn almost as much as yours.
“Stop that, I’ve brought things for you.” He pulled out 2 bottles of gatorade, some sweets, and a piece of tupperwear contain what looked like stew. “Is that-“
“Wayne’s special recipe.”
“Oh I love you, and I love Wayne.” He pulled out a spoon and a stuffed teddy. “Aw Ed’s they’re lovely,” you smiled, pulling the stuffed bear to your chest. “I knew he’d get all the love and not me.”
“That’s not true, I just want the stew first.”
“Fine, be careful. It’ll still be quite warm.”
~ / / / * \ \ \ ~
After eating the stew and drinking half a bottle of gatorade, you were snuggled on Eddies chest. “Thank you for looking after me.”
“Anything for you Sweetheart.”
“How was school?”
“Boring, even worse without you.”
“Wait Eds it’s Friday, you had a campaign today. What are you doing here?” your eyes widened. Eddie had been planning this for week, excitedly rambling to you about it none stop.
“Sweetheart, it’s fine. We pushed it back a week.”
“You, Edward Munson, postponed D&D for me?”
“I’d do it a million times, plus Gareth threatened me.”
“Of course he did,” you laughed, coughing slightly. Eddie rubbed your back soothingly, kissing the top of your head. “You’ll get sick too.”
“I never get sick.”
“Lies, you just ignore the fact that you’re sick and get grouchy.”
“Do not.”
“Stop pouting.”
“How’d you know-“
“I know you.”
You felt his grin in your hair, “Sleep Sweetheart.”
“Will you stay?”
“For as long as I can.”
~ / / / * \ \ \ ~
You woke up a few hours later throat feeling scratchy. Sitting up and taking a sip of your drink, you panicked as your dad entered the room. Eddie was sound asleep on the bed.
“Calm down, I just came to bring you some meds, I know he’s here.”
“Dad we need to talk about him.”
“I’ve already spoke to him, when you were asleep.”
“You- What?” you didn’t know if it was your cold filled brain confusing you or not. “He’s a good boy. I’ve seen how he cares for you, how he loves you. Just tell him to use the front door next time - he’s going to break the pipes.”
“Okay.”
“Okay honey, we’ll take this and then get some rest.”
“Thanks dad.”
“Goodnight.”
“Night.”
You smiled to yourself, taking your medicine and then snuggling back into Eddies chest.
“You alright?” he asked, voice groggy from sleep. “Perfect.” He hummed, wrapping his arms around you, holding you close.
~ / / / * \ \ \ ~

-find all things What You Deserve here✨
“You brought donuts?” “Yeah? You like donuts still right?” “Yes Steven I like donuts but…you only bring me food when you feel bad about something…” “what? That’s…..totally…true…yeah yeah I do..I do…do that don’t I?” “Yes so what do you feel bad about? Also do you want coffee?” “Yes to the coffee and uh…well I just feel shitty about not being there the other-” “You don’t need to feel bad about that Steven we’ve talked about this already.” “I know but still…just eat the donuts so I’ll feel better okay?” “Okay.” “So…what we haven’t talked about is what happened after Eddie showed up…” “Oh well…he uhm might have taken me back to his place-” “oh my god you slept with him? after he saved you from your psychotic ex boyfriend?” “What? No I didn’t sleep with him but even if I did what’s the issue with that? We don’t sex shame in this friendship Mr. Slutty Steven Andrew Harrington.” “Sorry…I didn’t mean for it to sound like that it’s just…I was shocked that’s all…you know I’m all for you uh having…relations with Eddie whenever…you want.” “Thanks…but I spent the night in his guest bedroom.” “Is it nice?” “So nice…it’s bigger than my bedroom here.” “Really?…how was the bed?” “Comfy but not too comfy where you feel like you’re on a marshmallow.” “Sheets?” “Soft…like probably real Egyptian cotton kinda soft.” “Jesus…you’re making me want to visit Eddie’s guest bedroom.” “I’d highly recommend it…or at least the one I stayed in.” “He has more than one?” “He has five bedrooms but one is an office.” “Did you snoop or did he give you a tour?” “He gave me a tour the night before when he cooked me dinner.” “He..cooked you dinner and gave you a tour of his fucking castle and you didn’t tell me?” “Sorry I was going to but then you weren’t at work and then the whole William thing happened.” “It’s fine…so…have you two…kissed yet?” “Not yet but I fully intend on finding out if he wants to kiss me or not the next time I see him.” “When will that be?” “We have a date tonight.” “I expect a call the moment you get home.” “Of course.” “Good…well I gotta get to work but have fun tonight and tell Edward I said hello and I’m still waiting on my reward for setting the two of you up.” “Yeah…I’ll be sure to tell him…bye Steven have a good day at work!”

Portrait Session
Capullo!Riddler x GN!Reader, word count: 1k commission: artist reader is propositioned by edward nygma to paint a portrait of him showcasing all his best features... 💚 commission me here! request info • prompt list • send me a request • kofi • masterlist minors DNI!! 🔞 cw: non-consensual nudity from eddie but is that really a negative? plus some suggestive stuff
Usually, the end of the day was your favourite time in the studio. There was something soothing about tidying up and cleaning things away. It provided that sense of completion, even if you hadn’t manage to get very far in any pieces through the hours you’d spent there. So it was more irritating than anything else when you were suddenly interrupted as you washed your brushes in the sink. You could smell the overly fragrant cologne before you could feel the hand over your mouth, feel the warmth of the breath before the words were whispered into your ear.
“Ok… don’t do anything stupid… because we know how this goes… just, turn around slowly and I might uncover your mouth, ok?”
You nodded, rolling your eyes as you placed the voice. Nothing surprised you much in Gotham anymore, and very little scared you. But there was one thing that you found annoying, more than anything else, and now you were face to face with it.
“Edward Nygma, The Riddler, but of course, you know who I am.”
He flashed a grin and let go of your mouth.
“Yep. Very aware of you.”
“Oh, a fan, hm?”
He raised his eyebrows a few times, smiling at you with a lewd grin.
“Hardly. How did you get in here?”
“I’m The Riddler, idiot. That’s what you’re wondering? Not why I’m here, or what I might do to you?”
He winked and you felt your eyes roll again. Everything about him bothered you, and to be perfectly honest you would rather he killed you or knocked you out to steal whatever he might need, anything to stop him from talking.
“Ok, fine. Enlighten me.”
“Well, you never replied to my email enquiry. So I thought I’d stop by in person.”
“Oh! Yes! I remember that…”
A few weeks ago, you had received a curious email regarding the potential for you to capture the likeness of him in a portrait. You had initially thought it might be a scam, or a prank, but the ludicrous amount of compliments regarding his own features, and the horribly self-indulgent signature which was filled with riddles and more compliments, assured you that it might be genuine. And of course, if it was, you wanted nothing to do with it.
“So you did read it. And you chose not to respond to me?”
“Yep. Don’t get told ‘no’ often, huh?”
“Not by anyone that matters. And ordinarily, you definitely wouldn’t matter. But… your art is… different. Better. I like it. And I really, really want you to paint me.”
You shook your head silently, but he kept pleading.
“Come on! I can make it worth your while. Very worth your while.”
“I doubt that very much.”
Ignoring the suggestive grin on his face, you chose to take a look down his body, letting your gaze linger on his crotch as you served your cutting response.
“Ouch. But I was actually thinking monetarily, for once.”
Taking a quick look around the studio, you considered what a little bit of extra cashflow could do for you. New paints, new materials, restock the cabinets. Maybe add a skylight if he was feeling extra generous.
“Ok… fine. I’ll paint your portrait. Let me get my things set up and we can bash this out as quickly as possible.”
“That’s usually how I operate.”
Scoffing at him, you turned to grab your supplies, some brushes, a canvas, some paints, and when you returned your gaze to Edward Nygma, you found him shirtless and removing his pants.
“Hey! What are you doing?”
“Uh… duh?”
He spread his arms out to the side, displaying his undressed form to you as his pants slid down his waist, leaving him in just his underwear.
“You’re gonna paint me nude.”
“I am?”
He threw his head back, sighing in exasperation.
“It really is me looking at my best, and I’m sure you’ll agree once you’ve seen me in all of my glory.”
You covered your eyes with your hand and turned your head slightly as Eddie removed his underwear, but you stole a quick glance at him before he told you to open your eyes. Facing him completely, you blinked a few times to adjust to the view.
“Well… see anything you like?”
Annoyingly, you did. He was slim, not toned, with a soft patch of red chest hair, and another patch of the same bright hue around his flaccid cock. And as he grinned, the self-satisfied smirk that usually irritated you, you found yourself blushing slightly.
“Let’s just get started now, come on.”
“Ah, ah, ah! Not quite yet, still got one more thing to do.”
He reached down to his cock, gripping it in his hand, and began to stroke it.
“Woah! Hey! What are you doing?”
“Well, I’m not going to have a portrait painted where I’m not looking my best or biggest.”
“Oh my god.”
“I’ll just be a second. Maybe you could… help me out?”
You let out an incredulous laugh, and he shrugged his shoulders.
“Suit yourself then.”
It was hard to take your eyes off of him as he stroked his cock, and you could see in your peripheral that he was staring intently back at you. Eventually though, the pleasure had taken precedent, and his eyes were closing as he let his mouth fall open. Soft sighs spilled out as his hand moved up and down his swiftly growing length quicker. You could tell he was reaching climax, which definitely wasn’t the point of this at all. And you knew, unfortunately, you should step in to prevent this from going any further.
“Ok… are you ready to start now, Mister Nygma?”
“Sure am, and I’m ready for some other things too.”
With another wink, he looked down to his cock, smiling back at you, a hopeful tone to his words. If he kept this up, you’d be here a lot longer than it would take you just to finish the painting.

Eddie Masterlist | Series Masterlist
When you wake up in the morning a little disoriented and it takes you a minute to remember where you are. You’re still laying on Eddie’s chest, one arm wrapped around his waist. One of his arms is still wrapped around your shoulders while the other one is folded up to support his head. You lift your head up to peek at the alarm clock next to his bed to find its seven twenty six. You hold in the groan that wants to make its way out of you since you know there’s no point in going back to sleep if you’d have to wake up soon anyway.
You’re slow to sit up, making sure you don’t wake the sleeping boy next to you. You’ll wake him up when you’re done getting ready if his alarm hasn’t done so already. You’re quick to grab your clothes for the day along with your toothbrush and paste once you’re out of bed. The pattering of your feet is quiet so to not wake his uncle who you remember him saying would be home. You’re as quiet as you can be as you get ready for the day.
“I was just about to wake you up.” You jump at the voice coming from the other side of the door. The man on the other side's eyes widens when you open the door. “You’re not my nephew.”
“No, I’m Y/n Eddie’s friend. I hope it’s alright I stayed the night, my dad kicked me out for a few days. I can find somewhere else to go tonight if it’s a problem though.” The last thing you wanted to do was be a burden or have anyone here feel like you’re forcing your way into their lives.
“No, that's fine you stay here as long as you need.” Honestly, Wayne’s just excited to meet a new friend of Eddie’s. It’s not often his nephew will bring new ones around and he knows it’s because it’s not often Eddie makes them. He can’t help but feel for you though for the reason you’re here.
“You want some breakfast or something? There isn’t much but there should be a box of poptarts in the cupboard.” Wayne scratches the back of his neck as he asks, not completely sure how to go about this situation.
“Oh, no I’m good. Thank you for the offer though. I’ll wake Eddie up and head out, I gotta pick up my brother and his friends.” You send a smile his way and head back into Eddie’s room, your clothes balled up in your hands. You shove them into the emptier half of your duffle bag and straighten up, hands on your hips wondering how you’re going to wake your sleeping friend up.
A bouncing on Eddie’s bed wakes him from the dream he was having of being on tour with his band. He stirs and groans not wanting to wake up and face the reality that it doesn’t seem like Corroded Coffin is going anywhere anytime soon, maybe ever.
“So is Eddie your actual name or is it short for something?” Eddie’s eyes snap open at the sound of your voice shocked to hear it before remembering the events of last night.
“It’s short for something.” He closes his eyes again, sinking back into his pillow.
“Well what’s it short for?” He just shakes his head not answering and getting poked in the cheek as a response. “Come ooon. You gotta get up anyway.”
“I’ll start listing names, you just stop me when I get the right one.” Eddie peaks an eye open to study you laying next to him arms folded up behind your head. A man could get used to waking up to a view like this.
“Edgar, Edison, Eduardo, Edward, Edwin, Edmund?”
“Edmund?” Eddie opens his eyes completely and rolls onto his side propping his head up with his hand. There’s laughter in his voice. “You really think I look like an Edmund?”
“Hmm, you’re right. You’re definitely more of an Edgar.” The look of mock shock and hurt on his face sends you into laughter. “You can tell me later but for now you gotta get up and get ready for school and I gotta go pick up all the kids.” You pat his chest and roll off the bed to slip your shoes on.
“Want me to go with you? We can take the van and have more room for them.”
“That’s a great idea but Max finally agreed to let me drive her again and I’m hoping that means I can get her to open up a little bit to me before I get everyone else. Oh, your uncles up and about by the way. I swear I didn’t mean to wake him up if I did. I can go somewhere else tonight so I won't do it again tomorrow.”
“You don’t have to do that. Wayne normally gets up around now to make sure I’m up. So you didn’t wake him.” Eddie gets up and stretches as he speaks while you ignore the sliver of skin exposed from his shirt rising up. “You want something to eat before you go? There should be poptarts.” The fact that he basically repeated what his uncle had offered you earlier brings a smile to your face. Turns out both Munson men are kind and giving creatures.
“I’m good. Dustin normally gives me some of the breakfast his mom made when I pick him up. But thanks for offering. See you later alligator!” You wave and make your way out of the room before stopping and popping your head back in. “You’re supposed to say in a while crocodile. It’s fine, you’ll get it next time. See you at school.” Eddie smiles and shakes his head staring at the ground as you leave.
“Maxiiine!” You sing as you knock on her door after leaving the Munson trailer. “Maxy poo, Max, Max and cheese.”
“What?” She can’t help but laugh softly a little bit as she opens the door with her headphones around her neck.
“You ready to go? We’re grabbing Dustin first and then the others.”
“Ready as I’ll ever be I guess.” You swing your arm around her shoulder and lead the way to the car.
“You get shotgun since you’re first on my carpool route.” The two of you slide into the car and you pull out of the spot you parked in.
It’s silent in the car for a couple of minutes and you continuously glance over at her to see if she’s put her headphones on yet. All she seems to do these days is stick to herself blocking everyone out with them. You’ve been worried about her for a while now.
“So how have you been? How’s school?”
“It’s school.” She shrugs and looks out the window.
“Anything new going on with you?”
“I broke up with Lucas.” Your eyes go wide at this new information.
“You what? When, why?”
“The other day, he wouldn’t leave me alone and I had enough of it.” So in other words he probably tried to get her to move on too much when she doesn’t seem to want to. You’ll have to figure out another way to try to get her to open up to you then. You’re a little shocked Lucas hasn’t said anything about it to you though.
“Is it gonna be weird being in the car together?”
“I’m cool if he’s cool. Were you fine over at Eddie’s last night?”
“Yep! I met his uncle this morning too, he’s nice. If it follows the same pattern it always does I’ll be back home and avoiding my dad in a couple days. If not then I’ll ask Steve about staying at his place for a night or two and figure it out from there. I don’t wanna intrude on anyone's space for too long.” You were sure your mom would come get you again though so you shouldn’t even have to think about asking Steve.
“There’s always my place and I’m sure Claudia wouldn’t even bat an eye before sweeping you off into the guest room.”
“That’s true.” Dustin’s mom loves you like you’re her own having gotten to know you through the stories Dustin’s told her and the times you’ve been invited inside for dinner after dropping Dustin off at home or breakfast when you’ve picked him up.
Dustin’s already outside when you pull up to the house holding something, probably your breakfast for the day, wrapped in tinfoil. He barely even looks up until he’s about to open the passenger door where he freezes upon seeing Max in his seat.
“What happened to the rules of shotgun?” He asks as he climbs into the back choosing to sit in the middle seat so it’s easier to talk to you.
“Sorry Dustin but Max was the first one picked up besides you don’t wanna make her sit in the back with the rest of the pack do you?”
“Why was she first picked up?”
“I stayed at Eddie’s last night, pops kicked me out again. What’s in the foil?” You shrug in nonchalance letting Dustin know it’s not a big deal like you normally would when he found out. And as much as he’s itching to ask you about what happened the way you say it lets him know you don’t want to talk about it. So instead he looks down at his hand and holds out the wrapped food for you.
“Mom made you a breakfast sandwich.”
“Wonderful!” You yoink it out of his hand and start unwrapping it at the next stop sign. “We’re getting Mikey along with the Sinclairs today Dustin, so be prepared to make room.” He groans about there not being any room to make while you blissfully ignore it to bite into the heaven that is Claudia’s homemade breakfast sandwich.
You honk your horn as you park between both your own and the Sinclairs homes. Lucas and Erica appear first sliding in on either side of Dustin as Mike starts making his way to the car. As soon as it finally registers to Lucas that Max is in the car his eyes go wide and he fumbles around in his head looking for something to say.
“Hey Mike! Do you have everything you need?”
“Yeah. Why do I always get stuck sitting uncomfortably?” He tries to squeeze between Lucas and the door and when he fails he folds himself up to sit on the floor behind Max’s seat.
“Because everyone else gets here first.” You speak around a mouthful of food after you shove the last bite into your mouth.
The car ride is filled with the boys in the back discussing and talking animatedly about the campaign they were in the middle of for their club with Erica calling them idiots every once in a while. You ask questions here and there to join in or talk with Max but mainly you just drive with the biggest grin on your face over having almost all the boys in your car again. It makes you miss Will even more and more excited than ever to see him over Thanksgiving break.
You pull in front of the middle school first Erica hopping out and Dustin moving over so Mike doesn’t have to sit on the floor for the last couple of minutes. You wait until they’re all situated in the back before pulling away and heading into the high school parking lot. As the boys climb out you put a hand on Max’s arm to stop her from getting out and running.
“You want a ride home today? I can drop you off before I head to work, the boys will be in Hellfire and Erica has a tutoring thing so it’ll be just you and me.”
“Can you actually just take me with you to work? I’ve been meaning to find some new music.”
“I can do that.” She smiles your way before getting out and heading straight for the school instead of waiting around like the boys do. Lucas yells a quick bye to you before rushing after her hoping to be able to ask her how she’s doing. Dustin shares a look with Mike as you reach in to grab your bag before starting to walk off.
“Bye Y/n! Thanks for the ride!”
“See ya Dustin!”
“How was your night?” Mike asks in a quiet voice worried that he’ll upset you if he brings what happened up. You just smile a little at how it shows he cares before shrugging a shoulder and looking his way.
“It was as good as it could be, all things considered.”
“Where’d you end up going?” He knows that the last time it happened you crashed at Steves and the time before that Dustin’s but he likes to know that you’re somewhere safe.
“I stayed at Eddie’s, figured it would be easy for us to work on the project and everything that way and then I wouldn’t have to bother Steve with it again.” You make your way into the building Mike sticking close to your side. “He’s nice. I see why all of you became so close to him so fast. His uncle seems like he’s a great guy too, I met him this morning.”
Mike is silent as he wonders how you fit in the Munson trailer with there being one room. He assumes that Eddie gave you his bed knowing his older friend wouldn’t have made you sleep on the couch, but he also knows that you’re not one to kick someone out of their own bed. His thoughts are interrupted when you speak again.
“How was it after I left?”
“Mom got home and Nancy told her about what happened after saying she’ll get Holly ready for bed. Her and dad got into a fight again, I’m pretty sure he slept on the couch.”
“Serves him right.” You scoff opening up your locker to replace the books in your bag with the ones you need today. “How long do you think it’ll be this time before she comes looking for me?”
“Honestly, I’m not too sure. She’s pissed but he’s being-”
“A stubborn ass?”
“Right. So she might find you soon but he won’t be ready to let you back in.”
“I should probably just start looking for a place of my own now. It’d solve so many problems. He doesn’t even seem like he’s ready to play nice again?” You shut your locker and turn to look at your brother.
“Not really.” Mike has to swallow the lump forming in his throat at the mention of you moving out before speaking.
“Great.” You roll your eyes at the situation. “Alright well love you Mikey, I gotta head to class and you still have to get to your locker. Eddie’s driving you home after Hellfire still right?”
“Yeah, he should be.” You nod, swinging your bag back over your shoulder.
“See you around kid.” You mess up his hair and start heading to your next class missing the way he watches you leave torn between wanting to be normal and not cause a scene and throwing himself into your arms for one of your comforting hugs. He hasn’t had one in a while and with the threat of you moving out and probably never coming around anymore he could really use one.
“How’d your psych test go?” Eddie surprises you at lunch by dropping himself into the seat next to yours at lunch before going to his regular table.
“I’m pretty sure I nailed it. Did your group get tired of your shenanigans and kick you out?”
“And to think I was going to invite you over to sit with us.” He tsks and shakes his head, getting a small laugh out of you. You rest your chin on your hand and lean in his direction with a playful glint in your eyes.
“Who said I wanted to shack up with a bunch of hoodlums.” He leans right back into you so your foreheads are almost touching.
“I’m pretty sure you did last night darlin’ when you were begging to stay over.” There's a moment where the two of you just stare into each other's eyes. Eddie’s flick down to your lips before he jumps out of his seat pulling yours out. “Now c’mon Princess your throne awaits.”
“Don’t say a word.” Mike grumbles to Dustin from where they pause to watch the two of you on their way to the table before stomping the rest of the way over leaving his friend in laughter.
“Guys, this is Y/n.” Eddie shows you off like he’s Vanna White and you’re the big prize they could win if they guess the puzzle right. “Y/n these are the guys. Obviously you know Dustin, Lucas, and Mike. But here’s Jeff, Gareth, and Adam.” He points to each one as he introduces them.
“Hi!” You wave genuinely excited to meet them all. They were just as responsible for making your chosen family feel accepted as Eddie was. They wave back with greetings and Eddie pulls out his seat at the head of the table for you to sit pushing it in before grabbing a spare seat from another table and pulling it up next to you. “It’s nice to meet you guys, Dustin absolutely raves about how cool you all are.” The boy in question groans and slams his head on the table.
Mike hides his jealousy from that sentence with laughter at his friend's embarrassment. The way you say it, it’s like you’re Dustin’s sister instead of his own. Like you talk more with his friends than you do him and for the first time it’s like he realizes that maybe you do. You’re constantly driving them to and from school while he goes with Nancy and he’s even seen Lucas search you out in the halls to tell you something before. Hell you probably even talk to Will more than you talk to him with your at least biweekly calls to them all in California.
Sure Mike talks to you at home but you’re barely there anymore and when you are and ask him if he wants to do anything he always has something else to do that he thinks is more important. He finds himself nostalgic for when he was younger and you would do everything with him because Nancy didn’t want anything to do with him and his mom was too busy with newborn Holly. You were his best friend for a while and now everything has changed and Mike can’t help but wonder why and when he let you become like a stranger in his life.
“Can’t say that’s true, we’re a bunch of losers. Gareth.” He holds his hand out for you to shake and Eddie rolls his eyes into the back of his head when he catches onto the flirty lilt to his voice.
“Keep it in your pants Emerson. I’m sure Mike wouldn’t appreciate you flirting with his sister.”
“Yeah, I definitely wouldn’t.” Mike scoffs out keeping his eyes on Eddie the whole time he speaks hoping it gets his point across. He doesn’t pay any attention to him though he’s too busy watching the way your eyes crinkle as you laugh.
“Y/n!” You could’ve gotten whiplash from how fast you whipped your head around to look at Nancy barrelling towards you. This was certainly new, normally she just acts like she has no idea who you are.
“Nancy?”
“Thank God I caught you. Are you alright? Where’d you go last night? I called Steve but he said you weren’t there. And Mike said you probably didn’t go to Dustin’s because you said you still had to pick him up in the morning.”
“You called Steve?”
“Well yeah, I always call Steve when you get kicked out to make sure you got there okay.”
“Oh, Nancy pants, you do care.”
“So where did you go?” Her face flushes a light pink at the nickname she’s forbidden you from saying anymore and she pulls you to the wall to not be in the way of other students as she interrogates you.
“I-”
“There you are darlin.” Eddie interrupts you digging around in his pocket as he approaches the two of you. “Wanted to give you this.” He takes your hand and shoves a key into your palm. “Wayne’ll be at work and there’s Hellfire tonight, wanted to make sure you’d be able to get into the trailer.” Nancy’s eyes go wide and her jaw almost drops at his words.
“Thanks Angel Eyes but I’ll be at work until at least eight. I’ll probably end up there a little longer to close it up so you should really keep this on you so you’re not locked out of your own home.” You try to give it back to him but he shakes his head and crosses his arms in front of himself.
“Nope, if Hellfire gets out before you’re done with work I’ll just go bug you there. Besides it took me forever to get that off my keychain. I'm not putting it back on so soon.”
“Fine.” You sigh, deciding it wasn’t worth fighting him about this and put the key in your own pocket.
“Great, I’ll see you later!” He beams at you for another minute before he leaves to make his way to the drama room.
“You’re staying with Eddie? You don’t even know him!” Nancy’s eyes are wide with this new information.
“I know him, we have some classes together and Dustin and Lucas talk about him all the time.” You shrug while defending yourself. “Besides I didn’t want to bother Dustin with showing up on his doorstep that late or bother Steve with it again.”
“Steve basically adores you though.”
“Steve doesn’t adore me.” You wave the statement off and look towards the entrance of the school watching the sea of students make their way out of the building.
“Are you kidding me? Of course he does, you should’ve heard how worried he was when I told him you were kicked out again.”
“Okay. Now as confused as I am about what all this was about, I love you and I appreciate you asking if I’m okay so much but I gotta go. Max is probably waiting for me at the car by now and I don’t want to keep her waiting too long. I’ll uh, see you around I guess.” You scratch the back of your neck not sure how to say goodbye to her even though she’s your own sister. Sure you guys were close when you were little but after you and your dad started to fight all the time, around like seventh grade for you, she started to want nothing to do with you it seemed. She’s even called you the problem after certain fights. Which you don’t hold against her because she was still young and not even aware of what the fights were about yet.
“So um, bye!” You smile and wave before rushing down the hall to the exit leaving Nancy behind.
“You.” Steve scans the shop searching for you before he speaks eyes narrowed and finger pointed your way.
“Me?” You point to yourself in your spot on the floor where you’re stocking the cassettes confused as to why he sounds like he’s about to scold you like a mother would a child hand half in the cookie jar. He’s definitely talking to you though, there’s no one else in the store.
“Yes you.” He makes his way through the store until he’s standing over you, most of his weight on one leg and his hands on his hips.
“Why me?”
“You got kicked out again last night.” He folds his arms across his chest while you go back to paying attention to the tapes on the shelf in front of you.
“And?” His worry he seems to have at it is genuine you know that, he’s proved enough times that he cares enough about you to care about when this happens or something happens to make you upset.
Little do you know that Steve’s one of the only people who actually notices how poorly you’re treated by your father and sometimes by the people around you. He got into a few little fights with Nancy about it when they were dating, always telling her that she should talk to you more and stop acting like you’re a pain to be around. He’s even thought about pulling Mike to the side to tell him to appreciate you more. After you met Robin and the two of you started having a small friendship Steve warned her that if she ever pulled something on you like Barb or past friends did he’d drop her so fast even if she’s his best friend. Because even though you’re older than him he’s brought it on himself to take up the protector role that an older brother probably would. You’re too stuck in your head and insecurity that people don’t actually like you as much as it seems to notice though.
“And you didn’t come to my house and you didn’t go to Dustin’s or even Robin’s. So where’d you go hmm? And you better not tell me you slept in your car again.” You had done that the first time you got kicked out and when Steve found out he made sure you knew there was always room at his place for if it happened again.
“I didn’t sleep in my car. I stayed with a friend.”
“What friend?”
“My new friend Eddie, he’s cool. Dustin and the gang like him too so I don’t have to worry about him being a creep.” You shrug and shove the rest of the copies of Wham’s album Make It Big in place before grabbing the box that’s now empty and getting up to head towards the front desk.
“You don’t mean Eddie Munson?” Steve sputters out lagging behind you.
“The very same.”
“What is it about him that has you all drawn like sheep to the flock?”
“Dunno, he's just nice I guess, I feel comfortable around him and so do the kids. What are you doing here anyway, shouldn’t you be closing up Family Video tonight with Robin?”
“We weren’t busy so I popped out to check on you. Where are you staying tonight?”
“I’ll still be at Eddie’s. You should get back to work in case it does get busy because Robin will just close and blame you again when the two of you get in trouble for it.” You place the empty box on the ground and grab the one filled with the records you have to stock up. You really should be doing stock after closing but you never saw the point in not just doing it during your last hour when almost no one comes in. You’d rather do stock than sit there and do nothing, that is when you don’t have school work you should be doing and you don’t feel like being in a rush to get home.
“It’s Family Video how busy can it be?” He thinks about it for a second while you watch the gears in his head turn. “You might have a point though, I don’t need Robs throwing me under the bus again.”
“Exactly.” You shoot him a finger gun while resting the box on your hip.
“I’ll see you then Y/n, you’re still coming to that movie night Robin’s been planning next weekend right?”
“Course I am I got off work and everything for it, King.” Steve’s nickname, as boring as it is, is more inspired by Stephen King, his books being one of the first things the two of you bonded over, than it is his old King Steve title he had.
“Alright, bye Y/n!” He pulls you into a quick side hug, careful of the box of records before heading out of the shop.
Meanwhile Eddie’s dropping the kids off starting with Lucas and Mike because Dustin insisted on being dropped off last.
“So what’s going on with you and my sister?” Eddie chokes on his own spit at Mike’s sudden words.
“What do you mean?”
“Do you like her or something?” Mike leans between the two front seats, eyes narrowed at his older friend.
“What?! Why would you think that?” Eddie nearly crashes the car at his shock of being asked that.
“You’re being really nice to her.”
“Yeah, believe it or not Wheeler, I'm a nice guy.”
“She’s staying at your place until further notice.”
“I’m just trying to help a friend out no matter how new they are.”
“You’ve been constantly giving her goo goo eyes.”
“Oh look, it's your stop. You two out so I can get Dustin home.” Eddie stops in front of Lucas’s house so quickly it would’ve sent Mike flying into the stereo if Eddie hadn’t put his arm out to stop him. He normally would’ve just pulled in front of Mike’s house first and turned around before dropping Lucas off but he’s honestly just trying to dodge all of Mike’s questions.
“We’re not done with this.”
“Well we are for now. Bye Lucas.”
“See ya Eddie!” Lucas salutes him before climbing out of the van. Mike glares at Eddie a minute longer before following him grumbling to himself. Eddie’s quick to drive off after seeing Mike get to his porch.
“Alright Dustin, when did Wheeler learn to be slightly nerve wracking?” Dustin shrugs and leans back in his seat.
“He just gets like that. Should’ve seen him when Steve started getting closer with her after him and Nancy broke up. Mike thought since he lost one sister he was just gonna go for the other one.”
“Was he?” Eddie’s grip on the steering wheel tightens ever so slightly that he doesn’t even notice it.
“Nah, he’s got more like an older brother vibe to their friendship.” Eddie lets out a breath he didn’t know he was holding.
“But he’s younger than her?”
“Ya but it’s all in how he acts with her and with things regarding her.” Eddie rolls to a stop in front of Dustin's house and he opens the door pausing before getting out to turn back towards his friend. “It does seem like you like her though Eddie. And unlike Mike I think the two of you would be good for each other.” And with that he gets out slamming the door and rushing up to his front door.
Eddie shakes his head at his words, a small smile forming on his face as he pulls away and starts making his way to the music store since there’s still twenty minutes till you close.
“Hey there Angel Eyes! We got more Abba in today if you wanna see if we have any you don’t.” And as you tease him with a smile that makes him feel like it’s just for him Eddie can't help but wonder if his young friends are right about him starting to like you.

This Love Came Back To Me - Chapter 2
It's Finally Here!!!! I can not apologize enough for how long this took to get out. But here it is! I hope you love it.
Summery- I was completely overwhelmed with this looming dread. This wasn’t just about Bella anymore. Though that was bad enough, this involved me now. Despite how often Edward disregarded my safety and despite how desperately Carlisle tried to protect me from this;
My life was in danger.
It was never going to end was it?
Word Count- 8,775
Warnings- Vampires- and all the things that go along with vampires (blood, biting, age gaps, sparkling, dramatics) a lot more swearing this time. There's some minor injuries and some very minor character death. mentions of vomiting (2 actual vomits, due to injury) Battle, fighting and planning. It's all very happy I promise.
There is no imprinting and there never will be <3
Notes from me- My name is Claire and this! This is finally my third love child. I started writing this on the 27th of July in 2022. I lost hope a few times but it's here and I hope you love it. Thank you, so so much for staying with me.

I love you <3 Thank you for still being here <3
I had gone home for most of the duration of the school day. I wasn’t sure what to expect when Alice called me halfway through folding my laundry.
“Is everything alright?” I barely had enough time to get it out before she was yelling on the other end of the line.
“If I lose this car because of Jacob Black-”
“Alice, could you please calm down for a second?” I could hear the sound of her heels on the hardwood floors as she paced. “What is going on?”
“Jacob Black showed up at the school and Bella ran off with him.” I had to bite back a laugh. Somehow I knew she would manage to escape. I stayed as quiet as I could manage while Alice continued, “Edward is going to kill me and take away my Porsche all because Bella wants to throw herself head first into danger.”
“It will be fine, Alice. Just… don’t call them, okay? I’ll go down to La Push and check on her and report back.”
“I don’t think that will make anything better. Carlisle will just be angry at me too.”
“He’ll… get over it.”
She sighed, “Just make it quick, okay?”
“Of course.”
I did not leave as quickly as I could have. I stayed long enough to switch over the laundry. I did the dishes and cleaned out the leftovers from the fridge. I hoped that my stalling would give Bella some time. I wouldn’t drag her home if she wanted to stay, but I also didn’t want to ruin her time.
They weren’t at the Black house when I got there. I waited for a few moments, just in my car, not wanting to chat with Billy if it wasn’t necessary. I could wait here and hope they come by, but couldn’t return to Alice empty handed.
Of course, I wasn’t there for five minutes before Sam was knocking on my car window. I sighed but got out as he held the door for me.
“Y/n? What’s up?” He almost sounded concerned.
I crossed my arms across my chest. “I’m just looking for Bella.” I said like it wasn’t
obvious.
“She isn’t here, but I’m sure they’ll swing by later. Did your leech send you out here to scope out the situation?”
I pulled my lips into a tight line. “No one sent me. He wouldn’t be all that excited to know I was here.
“He doesn’t know?” He smirked and I wanted to smack him. “I didn’t take you for a rebel.”
I forced a laugh. “I’m not rebelling. I can do whatever I want- Could you just drop the wolfy bullshit and tell me where my sister is?”
His grin didn’t falter. “Probably on the beach, but you don’t have to worry about her.”
I moved to get back in my car but he still held the door. “I’m not-”
“She’s safe here, you know?” I nodded. “There probably wouldn’t be a safer place if Jacob had his way.”
“She’s happy with Edward. She’s safe with him too.”
“Sure, Sure…”This time I smiled warmly at him. I knew he was being genuine. I was still annoyed but I could appreciate his efforts. “I might agree that you’re safe with Carlisle… But Edward and Bella?”
“They’re young and in love. We’ve been there.” I pushed his arm lightly; He barely moved. I did not think too much about what he’d just said about Carlisle. “Sometimes we choose what's wrong for us… Sometimes what’s wrong for us is exactly what we need.”
I didn’t mean it as a jab, I didn’t know the whole story between him, Leah, and Emily, but he winced. “Maybe you’re right.” His voice was less cocky. I might have felt bad, if it wasn’t Sam.
I didn’t have time to dwell before Bella and Jacob were pulling up. When she got her helmet off I couldn’t tell if she was happy to see me or annoyed.
She walked over to us with her hands in her jacket pockets. “If you’re here to kidnap me again, I won’t go.”
“I’m not. I’m just here to check in… And then I got caught up chatting with Sam.”
If she knew I was lying she didn’t call me out. She just bit her lip and nodded. “I’m okay.”
“I see that.” I tried to smile at her, but the rain was picking up so I only winced. “I’ll be at the Cullens, to help soften the mood before you get back.”
“Did Alice… Call him?”
I shook my head. “No, thank god. She called me and I told her I’d come check on you as long as she promised she wouldn’t call them. It’s best to try to not make things worse for ourselves.”
She smiled, “Thank you… I will be back later.” They drifted towards the house and Jacob opened the door for her.
“Have fun!” She didn’t turn back around. I pushed off the side of the car and tried the door again. Sam hadn’t moved.
“Y/n…” he hesitated but took a step back and let go of the door. “Don’t be a stranger.”
“You either, Sam.”
He looked like he wanted to say more, but I didn’t stay long enough to hear it.
~~
Alice was still pouting on the hood of her car when Bella got home. She must have seen her coming because she didn’t budge, if anything the pouting only became more theatrical.
“I haven’t even had a chance to drive it.” She sighed
“Sorry,” Her words were acid.
She was soaking wet and shivering. “You should probably take a hot shower.” I tried.
“Yep.”
Alice could tell as well as I could that something happened with Jacob, but where I was more covert about it, her curiosity was plain on her face. “Do you wanna talk about it?”
“Nope.”
“Do you want to go to Olympia tonight?”
“Not really. Can’t I go home?”
Alice and I both winced. “Bella…” I tried.
“Nevermind,” Bella said. “I’ll stay if it makes things easier for you both.”
“Thanks,” She sighed in relief.
Bella went straight upstairs and took a shower before going right to bed. Even Alice didn’t stay in the main living space for long. I went to Carlisle’s room and fell asleep reading in our bed.
I felt a shift in the mattress just as the sun started to peek through the trees. I smiled up at him, more asleep than not, and rested my hands on either side of his face.
He kissed me quickly. “I didn’t mean to wake you.”
“I’m glad you did. I missed you.” He kissed me again. “Did Alice fill you in on the weekend's events?”
“She filled us all in on the key points. She also said you’d have more to tell me. Edward laughed. Should I be concerned?”
“Hmm~ Maybe~” My sleepy smile didn’t go away. “When were you going to tell me you bought me the Prius?”
“Oh… Well.” He laughed nervously, knowing he’d been caught. “Are you certain I haven’t told you about that before?”
“Nice try,” I kissed his nose. “but I think I would have remembered you mentioning it before.”
“I apologize for not telling you, though I think you would have questioned my sanity If I had.”
“I do that anyway, so that’s not really a valid point.”
He laughed loudly at that and kissed me again. “I promise I will tell you before I buy you a car next time.”
I giggled against his lips. “That’s all I ask.” I could feel myself falling back asleep so I lightly pushed him so he’d lay flat. When he did, I laid my head on his chest. “I went to La Push.”
“I’m aware.”
“I spoke with Sam for a while.”
I let my eyes close as he ran his hand through my hair. “How did that go?”
“ ‘s Weird…” I didn’t try to stop myself from yawning. “I feel like we really could have been friends, but it's too complicated now to try.”
“He was nice, though?” His arms tightened around me slightly. It made my heart flutter.
“Yeah he was nice. He even kinda said that we were good together… in not so many words.”
He sighed and I placed a soft kiss on his chest.
“I know you guys don’t think it’s safe for us, but I saw her with Jacob today, I saw how Sam felt about it, and I truly think it will be okay.”
“I trust your judgment on this.” I knew he did. It was more Alice and Edward that put up a fight. “I think Edward is coming around. I think if she really wants to go back, he’ll let her go.”
“Good.” I didn’t feel the need to voice my opinion on him letting her. Carlisle knew how I felt about that anyway.
I yawned again and Carlisle chuckled. “Get some rest, Mon Coeur. Everything else can wait until the morning.”
“I don’t have any more stories to share. I just missed you.”
“I won’t have to go into the office tomorrow. We’ll have the whole day.”
I leaned up and he met me halfway. The kiss was slow and made my heart skip a beat. I wanted to stay right there forever, but I was officially too tired to keep my head up. I snuggled back into his chest and slept for a few more hours.
~~
Carlisle woke me a few hours later and convinced me to go downstairs where he was finishing up the breakfast he’d made for me. We very often had the best conversations over my breakfast, so that particular morning I used the time to bring up Bella and Rosalie's conversation from the other night.
She had filled me in on most of her backstory in small ways throughout our almost friendship, but I was still pretty lost on his part in it all. I never wanted to press, but that morning, with it so fresh on my mind, I couldn't help my curiosity.
He let out a heavy breath and for a second I thought he might not tell me anything. I didn't want him to feel like he had to. I almost told him to forget it, but right then he started, "I was just a simple family doctor when Esme, Edward and I moved to Rochester, New York. Our family was still so new, but I was overcome with pride in them. More importantly, I was satisfied with what we had built together.
"At the time, I didn't see that this wasn't the life they would have chosen for themselves. I had no idea, despite the fact that I felt the same way." They had all made this very point multiple times. It's why we needed Bella to be sure; Why I needed to be sure. I never wanted to regret him.
He continued, "Edward had just returned to our little family but he was still angry. When I brought my concern to Esme she seemed to think he was just lonely and if I found him a companion to share a love like ours he would be happy." His phrasing was delicate, like he was afraid I would be upset by it. When my expression remained unbothered, he went on. "I should say, the night I found Rosalie, I wasn't looking for her. I had honestly brushed Esme's comment aside, knowing it was far too selfish to turn someone for that reason alone.
"As I was walking home that night, suddenly all I could smell was her blood. I followed it to her almost on instinct. I found her lying on the ground dying, and I didn't even consider that she might have preferred to die. I just wanted to save her."
He sighed as he took out a plate for the food he'd made for me. "During her transition Esme's previous comment surfaced in my mind. Maybe she was the missing piece to our family. Maybe she could help Edward in a way Esme and I could not. I found comfort in the fact that I had at least given her a chance.
"That's not to say that I regret turning her. I love her and she is such an important part of this family. I could never regret her. I do wish I had considered her wishes."
My chest tightened as he spoke. He had carried this guilt with him everyday for all of these years and it made my heart break for him. Of course, I didn't believe he was entirely without fault here, but I also didn't entirely believe that she hated her existence. Maybe it wasn't the life she would have chosen, but I knew, and I think a part of him knew as well, that she had found happiness in this life too.
"Carlisle… You couldn't have known." I tried to assure him but he smiled softly at me and brushed past it. I thought he might change the topic completely, but he expertly plated my omelet and slid it across the table to me before continuing her story from his perspective.
"Edward’s immediate upset was very disheartening and now, with hindsight, probably should have been the first clue that this wouldn't work out. I wanted her to live, I wanted her to be happy. He was certain my actions would affect our lives negatively. I suppose, in a way he was just being selfish, though I’d never tell him that.
“I think that’s when the guilt set in. I’d taken this young girl with her whole life ahead of her and cursed her with this life-”
I had to stop him. I said his name, the disbelief heavy in my voice. Despite this, he still smiled. “It was a long time ago, Dove. We’ve all grown to think differently over time.”
“But you still hold all of that guilt. I can see it. I don’t think you’re being fair to yourself.” I was soft. I wanted to be comforting even if he swore he didn’t need it.
“I’ve had many years to look at the whole picture. Every single one of them that I’ve turned, hate this life.”
“Emmett doesn’t” I added.
He laughed, “No, I guess not. Rose and Esme, on the other hand, never stopped longing for basic human desires. Edward still believes himself a monster. For a long time I couldn’t help but blame myself for that.
“Eventually I came around.” He mentioned quickly, soothing just a bit of my frustration. He continued, “Rose continued to be so strong. She got her revenge on all the men who had hurt her all the while never tasting human blood.” He was clearly very proud, even if he didn’t entirely approve.
“She killed them?” I asked.
“She did…”
His grin didn't falter and for the first time this whole conversation, I smiled too. “Good for her.” I added.
He laughed. “I can’t say I was necessarily excited for her to go out and kill them, but I couldn’t fault her after what they’d done. And she never considered leaving us. Even when I told her we’d have to leave New York, or that we’d have to change our names and abandon everything. She handled it all with grace and she never expressed an interest in going her own way. I offered her that choice and she laughed and politely declined.” The guilt on his face turned into fondness.
No matter what these kids did, he loved them more than anything. They were the reason he is the compassionate family man I knew and loved. I leaned across the bar and he met me in the middle for a quick kiss.
When I sat back still smiling at him, he finished the rest of the story. “I was very surprised when she brought Emmett to me. I never expected her to want to change another human, but she looked me in the eyes and said the very thing I had said to Edward about her. ‘I couldn’t just let him die, it was too much.’
“He surprised me too. Not only did he survive some gruesome injuries long enough for Rosalie to bring him to me, he also handled the transformation like a true fighter. He hardly called out and his heartbeat was strong and steady until the very end.”
“Perfectly matched, aren’t they?” Like they were meant to find each other- as cheesy as that was.
“They brought out the best in each other and, in turn, the best in our family. I’d like to think that after all this time, Rose is content with her life. Even if she still wants more for the other still-human women in her life” The way he put that was very pointed at me and Bella- I chose to let it be. Rosalie was allowed her opinions. I, of course, wasn’t running headfirst into immortality, so most of her opinions were mostly directed at Bella.
Sometimes though I still caught on to her lack of enthusiasm for my choices as well.
I was all too content in my life as it currently stood for any dramatic changes, so I let it be; he continued to talk about our family and the changes he began to see in Edward. He moved to sit next to me as I ate. I leaned closer to him as he finished.
I wanted to kiss him again. And this time I wanted to kiss him and get lost in it for a very long while.
But Carlisle froze in his spot. His eyes went wide before they squeezed shut. He had stopped breathing.
“When was this?” He waited a tiny second. “How?” I wondered who was answering his questions and from where- and if it was the reason for his sudden change in demeanor.
His hands tightened slightly around mine and he pulled me up. “Carlisle?”
Without answering, he pulled me into the living room where Alice and Jasper sat perfectly frozen on the couch. I tried again, “What is-”
“It’s all right, Y/n.” I sighed impatiently at his interruption. I wondered if he’d forgotten I couldn’t hear the other end, and at that point, had no idea what was going on, but I didn’t speak again. I could tell just how wrong something was. Alice sat half in Jasper's lap, leaning against him like she needed the support. Her face was in her hands.
I wondered if she had a headache. I wondered if they could get headaches.
Jasper's powers danced in the air. I felt it swirl around me. I wished I could feel the calm it offered, but like always, I didn’t. I nodded in thanks to him anyway.
Then Rosalie and Emmett came into the room. Rose sat next to Alice on the couch to offer her more support. Emmett stood causally on my other side. Though the reason was still unknown, his presence added a bit of comfort.
“Another day, another crisis…” Emmett joked and bumped me with his shoulder. Despite my panic, I managed a chuckle.
Carlisle hissed, “Emmett. Not now.”
He was angry- outraged really. I had never seen him like this and it really drove my worry home. I placed my hand on his arm. “Carlisle… What is going on?”
He softened immediately, as if he really had forgotten I couldn’t have known. He pulled me closer to him. “It will be fine.”
“Edward will be here soon. He wants you two to follow the scent.” Alice mumbled from her spot on the couch, vaguely gesturing to Emmett and Jasper.
“Sure thing, Boss. We’ll be back.” He leaned forward to kiss Rosalie. Jasper followed him out the door.
Carlisle led me to the couch. “You should sit.” I closed my eyes so I wouldn’t roll them, but sat anyway. He stayed standing next to me.
I felt Alice get up from the couch at the same time Rose’s hand held mine. I turned towards her as another wave of panic hit me. Even Rosalie was trying to comfort me, but no one would explain what was going on.
A blanket of silence covered the room and it made me so uncomfortable I wanted to scream just to tear it apart. I almost did. I almost screamed the same question again, but then Edward was there next to Carlisle and Bella sat next to us.
And when Edward demanded to know what happened, Alice answered him.
“I have no idea. I didn’t see anything.” She crossed her arms and chewed her lip. I couldn’t tell who was more angry between the three of them, Carlisle, Edward or Alice. I just wished I knew why.
“How is that possible?” His patience had clearly run out.
“Edward,” Bella said with quiet disapproval.
I, again, wanted to make them tell me something- anything, but Carlisle interjected before I got the chance. His voice was significantly calmer than before, as he tried to mediate. “It’s not an exact science, Edward.”
“He was in their rooms, Alice. He could have still been there- waiting for them.” my brows furrowed. My heart rate accelerated.
“I would have seen that.”
Edward threw his hands up. I wanted to do the same. “Really? You’re sure?”
I finally broke, “For the love of god! Can anyone tell me what the fuck is going on?” Alice held back a laugh at my outburst, but it was Bella who finally answered my question.
“When Edward came over earlier, he noticed another vampire- we don’t know who- had been in the house.”
I forgot to breathe, my eyes were locked on her. “Dad-”
“Is okay. He was home but had no knowledge of the intruder. Whoever it was looked in every room, but mainly in yours and Bella’s.” Edward filled me in on the rest, clearly very annoyed- or maybe just worried. He added, “And Alice missed it.”
I was suddenly freezing cold and shivering hard. Carlisle was next to me on the couch with both of his hands clasped around mine. I let myself lean into him.
Alice’s voice was cold when she answered. “You’ve already got me watching the Volturis’ decisions, watching for Victoria’s return, watching Bella’s every step. Do you want me to watch Y/n’s too? Because we already know how well that will work. What about their rooms or the whole damn house? Edward, if I try to do too much, things are going to start slipping through the cracks.”
“It looks like they already are,” he snapped.
That’s not fair, I thought but I couldn’t make the words come out. Edward huffed a laugh.
Alice retorted, “She was never in any danger.” By she, she meant Bella, I had been here. Of course I hadn’t been in any danger, but it still sounded like she was trying to comfort both Edward and Carlisle. “There was nothing to see.”
“If you were watching Italy, why didn’t you see them send-”
“I don't think it was them,” Alice insisted. “I would have seen that.”
“Who else would leave Charlie alive?”
I winced. Carlisle squeezed my hands. “Who else would have bothered with my room? No one has been interested in me before now.”
Alice sighed, “I don’t know.”
“Helpful.”
“Stop it, Edward.” Bella whispered. I wanted to thank her. He really was being unreasonable. His head jerked in her direction. He was still so angry he almost looked like he was going to yell at her too. I probably would have lost it, if Carlisle didn’t have my hands.
But then he took a deep breath and relaxed a bit. “You’re right, Bella. I’m sorry.” He looked at Alice. “Forgive me, Alice. I shouldn’t be taking this out on you. That was inexcusable.”
“I understand,” Alice assured him. “I’m not happy about it either.”
“Okay, let’s look at this logically.” Edward took another deep breath. I was still shivering. “What are the other possibilities?”
As if on cue, everyone softened a bit. Carlisle kissed my hair and sat back leaving only one hand on mine. Rosalie got up and stared out the window. I wished I could comfort her.
Bella and I shared a long look. I was forever hoping she knew how happy I was to have her with me in this- even when it was awful like this. I knew I couldn't do it alone, so I was happy to have her at my side.
Carlisle spoke first. “Victoria?”
I shook my head. “She’s never been interested in me before. She’s never even thought twice about me.”
“Maybe she’s considering you an easier target now.” His voice was so soft, like he was tiptoeing past a bomb. He could probably tell I wanted to scream again.
“But I didn’t know the scent. He might have been from the Volturi, someone I’ve never met…”
This time Alice shook her head. “Aro hasn’t sent anyone to look for them yet I will see that. I’m waiting for it.”
Edward’s head snapped up. I waited for him to be mean again, but he wasn’t “You’re watching for an official command.”
“You think someone’s acting on their own? Why?” Carlisle questioned so I didn’t have to.
“Caius’s idea,” Edward suggested. His panic cracked his resolve again.
“Or Jane’s…” Alice added. “ They both have the resources to send an unfamiliar face…”
Edward scowled. “And the motivation.”
“I don’t see the point though. If they were meant to wait for me and Bella, Alice would have seen it. Obviously they had no intention of hurting us- or Dad for that matter.” I said. A small part of my panic turned to basic confusion.
Bella winced when I mentioned Dad again. I pulled away from Carlisle to hug her while whispering, "It's going to be fine, Bella." It had to be.
"The question remains, What was the point?" Carlisle asked. I was glad he understood my confusion.
"Checking to see if we're still human"
"It's possible, and would explain why they checked Y/n too."
Rosalie sighed and it was loud enough to make me and Bella jump from across the room. For the first time since the boys left she turned away from the window and looked towards the kitchen. I guessed that Emmett and Jasper were back, and from the annoyed look on Edwards face, they didn't have an answer he wanted.
"Long gone, hours ago." Emmett announced, disappointed. Rosalie moved to his side and he threw an arm over her shoulder. "The trail went east, then south, and disappeared on a side road. Had a car waiting."
"That's bad luck," Edward muttered. "If he'd gone west… well, it would be nice for Jacob and the others to make themselves useful."
I kinda wanted to laugh, it always sounded silly when Edward tried to insult Jacob, But Bella winced at his words so I didn't. I just rubbed her back between her shoulders.
Jasper looked at Carlisle. "Neither of us recognized him. But here." He held out something that looked similar to a tree, just a small tree. I wanted to laugh again. When Carlisle took it from him and held it to his face, I did laugh. He turned his head just slightly away from me to hold back a laugh as well. "Maybe you know the scent."
"No," Carlisle said, serious again. "It's not familiar. No one I've ever met."
"I mean… Hypothetically, couldn't it just be some random passing vampire?" Everyone turned to look at me like I'd lost it, so I added "Of course not in that they just happened to pick our house to drop in randomly. Just maybe this person was a bit curious. All of your scents are all over us. Maybe they wanted to know why."
"Why wouldn't they just come here then? If they were curious?" Emmett challenged.
I laughed softly. "Not everyone is as brave as you can be, Emmett. But from an outside perspective, our family is huge and consists of mainly gifted vampires. They might be a bit intimidated. Dad wasn't hurt. They didn't stick around for us to get home. It could be someone who's just passing through. Someone who caught our scents and wanted to see what was going on.”
I think I was trying to convince myself that there was no immediate threat. It was an easier pill to swallow that someone was passing through rather than someone with malicious intent. I looked at Bella for backup, but she looked like she was plotting. I didn't want to know what was running circles in her mind.
"I don't think so, Y/n…" Alice interjected, pursing her lips. "The timing of it was too perfect… This visitor was so careful to make no contact. Almost like they knew I would see…"
I shivered again, pulled completely out of my false sense of security. I knew it was improbable. I knew they were trying to get to the bottom of this. Deep down, I knew that this person definitely had bad intentions.
But I had to hope, if only so I wouldn’t start screaming.
Carlisle squeezed my hand. "He might have had other reasons for avoiding contact." He reminded her and reassured me. I smiled at him in thanks. He kissed my hand.
"Does it really matter who it was?" Bella asked and I squeezed my eyes closed and placed my head on Carlisle's shoulder. "Just the chance that someone was looking for me… isn't that reason enough? We shouldn't wait for graduation."
"No, Bella," Edward and I said in unison. I didn't look up.
He continued. "It's not that bad. If you're really in danger, we'll know."
"Think of Charlie," Carlisle reminded her. I could kiss him. "Think of how it would hurt him if you disappeared."
"I am thinking of Charlie! He's the one I'm worried about. What if our little guest had been thirsty last night? As long as I'm around Charlie- as long as we're both still human- He's a target too."
"Nothing is going to happen to Dad, Bells. He's lived in this supernatural infested town long enough without problems." I tried to sound comforting.
"His daughters weren't bringing them to his house then." She clearly wasn't comforted.
"We're just going to have to be more careful." Edward added. He had faith in our family. That was comforting; at least to me.
"More careful?" Bella repeated in disbelief.
"It's all going to be fine, Bella," Alice Promised.
Bella sat back, accepting we wouldn't budge no matter how much she begged. That night at least, she would stay human.
~~
I drove home early the next morning, but I still managed to miss Dad on his way out. Bella said that he was gone before she woke up too and, knowing him, he probably left before the sun was even up.
I walked into the kitchen to find Bella and Edward discussing why he had to leave just because Jacob is stopping by. I rolled my eyes at the cliche, but appreciated Edwards diplomatic approach.
I did wonder just how far he planned to go. I doubted he would leave us completely alone, but I also knew he wouldn't stay close enough for Jacob to know. I assumed that he would lurk back with Jasper, but stay ready to spring into action if need be. He nodded once in my direction with just the tiniest smirk on his lips and I knew I had guessed correctly.
He turned his attention back to Bella. "I'll be right back." I heard him laugh as she walked him to the door.
I figured it was as good a time as any to pick Bella's brain a bit about Jacob; Even if it meant I had to interrupt her grumpy grumbling as she cleaned the kitchen.
"Hey, Bells?"
She jumped and nearly dropped the glass she was placing in the sink. "Y/n! I thought you'd gone back upstairs."
"Nope… Still down here." I giggled. and waited a small second for her to get her breathing right. When she smiled at me I continued, "So, why is Jacob coming over?"
"He wants to check our rooms for the scent of that vampire…" I cringed at how nonchalant she said it. "And I decided to forgive him. For what he said before…"
I didn't mention that she never told me what he'd said before, I knew it wasn't kind. I let it go. "I think… I guess it wouldn't hurt to have their help in this too." I pulled my lips into a line and she nodded. "Though, it would be much easier if they could just get along- if the three of you could get along in general." I paused to gauge her reaction but when she laughed so did I.
"Wouldn't it?" She bit her lip and looked at the dishes in the sink. I thought for a second that she was going to say something more, but she didn't. She got lost in her thoughts and I didn't want to bother her again. She focused back on the dishes and I started to help by putting away what was already clean.
There was a kinda demanding knock at the door and before I could go answer it, Bella was calling for Jacob to come in. I wanted to vanish. It's not that I had anything against him, I just didn't trust myself to not tell them to get over themselves.
Despite just telling him to come in, she still jumped when he spoke. "Should you really leave your door unlocked like that?" And when he noticed he made her splash dish water on herself, he added "Oh, sorry."
"It's not like a locked door would stop anything after us anyway." I said while she tried to dry the front of her shirt.
"Oh… Good point, Y/n," He agreed before adding, "I didn't see you there."
I had to laugh. "That seems to be pretty common." I nodded.
Bella squinted her eyes, like she was judging him, clearly in her own world. "Is it really so impossible to wear clothes, Jacob?"
I laughed out loud. If they were going to discuss Jacobs nakedness, I definitely did not need to be in the room. I left them to talk and, for the first time in the hours since I'd gotten home, I went upstairs.
I hesitated by my bedroom door. I knew that no one would be in there and yet, I couldn't make myself open the door. I stood there and looked at it and even reached for the handle, but that was as far as I got.
Instead, I turned on my heels and walked down to Dads room. His door was already open and, of course, he was not inside. His bed wasn't made, but his room wasn't messy. It smelled like him- Warm, musky, and dusty. It smelled like home. I wondered how much it smelled like him to the others if it smelled this strongly to my human nose.
He'd never lived anywhere else in his adult life. He probably smelled like this place. It was probably one in the same. I heard Jacob's heavy footsteps as he stomped up the stairs. I laid on Dads bed in an attempt to stay out of his way.
It was comforting in a way I hadn't really expected. Like how it was when I was a child and I'd run in there to hide from the monsters under my bed- Only this time there really had been a monster in there. I shivered and pulled his blanket up around my face. I couldn't let myself cry; I knew I wouldn't be able to stop.
It wasn't long before Jacob poked his head in anyway. He was quiet then he kinda took a sharp breath. "Hey, Y/n. I didn't know you were in here-" I laughed, he continued. "This rooms clear- No vamps in here. Is this Charlie's room?"
I nodded.
"That's good. That they didn't come in here…" He looked across the hall towards the other rooms. "Your room reeks though. Like they were in there for a while. Touched a lot of stuff too, like they were looking for something."
I stared at him, eyes wide open. "I-" I wanted to scream again.
"But it's good! ‘Cause I can really smell them in there. Bella's room reeks of Cullen, so it's hard to get only this new one. But it being all over your room… helps." I knew he was- however unsuccessfully, trying to calm me down.
I sighed and smiled softly at him. "Thank you Jacob."
He grinned wide. "No problem! Hey uh… Sam asked if I would mention that he needs to speak with you."
"Of course he does…" I shook my head, already annoyed.
"There's a bonfire tonight. You could come-"
"I couldn't." Mostly because I didn't want to deal with Sam, but also I didn't want to impose. "I've got plans with Carlisle."
"Sure. Sure. But could you at least call Sam so he'll get off my back?"
"I'll consider it."
He grinned again. "Thanks, Y/n!"
Then he left before he said anything else. I threw myself back on the bed. I didn't want to go back down there while Jacob was still there and as soon as he left I heard Edward get back. So I stayed in my dads bed trying to convince myself to go into my own room.
Eventually I decided to just rip the bandage off. I walked to my room and again, hesitated by the door. Only this time, I closed my eyes, took a deep breath and swung the door open on the exhale.
Jacob was right. My room was a mess. It was honestly so much worse than I could have expected. My dresser drawers were open. The closet was open and missing some of its contents. Even my laundry basket was knocked over.
But what shocked me the most- My entire bed sheet and my pillows were gone.
For a long moment I was just frozen in the doorway, staring at the mess my bedroom had become. I didn't notice how bad I was shaking. I kept thinking I wanted to clean up my room but it was too overwhelming.
Whoever this was, was in my room. They went through all of my things. They stole my bedsheet. And I could not fathom why. I think that's what scared me the most.
All this time, even though I had been running with them too, the rogue vampires only wanted Bella. So I didn't understand why they were suddenly interested in me.
I stood there for a long while until I couldn't handle it anymore. I went far enough into my room to set my laundry basket up right. One of the only things still in it was one of Carlisle's sweaters- A navy blue one he'd worn when we'd gone to the library. He swore it looked better on me and he didn't need it anyway. I agreed to take it because it smelled like home. It still smelled like him.
I threw it over my head, decided the mess could wait, and went downstairs to meet up with Bella and Edward.
As I drifted downstairs, Bella was explaining to Edward why she thought Alice had cleaned her room. "-that was lying around, my shirts, my socks, and I don't know where she put them."
As I approached Edward went rigged.
“No, I think Y/n is right. When did you notice your things were missing?"
"When I got back from the fake slumber party…"
Then Edward looked at me, which made Bella look at me. My eyes went wide and I guessed that he wanted me to answer the same question. "Oh… I-I haven't been home. So. Today? My bed sheet is gone and some of my clothes…"
I hadn't considered that maybe it was Alice, but Bella was known for not looking at the whole picture. I didn't think that made much sense anyway.
Edward shook his head. "I don't think Alice took anything. Not your clothes, or your bed sheet. The things that were taken, these were things that you'd worn… and touched… and slept on?"
"Yes. What is it, Edward?" I didn't know how she hadn't pieced it together yet.
I couldn't tell if Edward was angry or confused. Or both. "Things with your scent?"
"Oh!" She breathed and I knew it clicked for her. They stared at each other for a while and If I didn't know better, I would have thought he was reading her mind. “The visitor…” she muttered.
“He was gathering traces… evidence. To prove that he’d found the both of you?”
Again, I found myself at a loss for why.
Bella actually whispered, “Why?”
“I don’t know. But, Bella, I swear I will find out. I will.”
“It also doesn’t make sense. Why did they clean up Bella’s room and tear mine apart? Why do they care about me at all?” My questions were mostly rhetorical. I knew there weren't any real answers yet.
He was kind enough to entertain me anyway. “You’re right, I have no idea why their focus has extended to you as well. But the state of your room makes a bit of sense… Your scent is hard enough to trace as it is , but if you haven’t been sleeping here and because you always smell like Carlisle- I would guess he couldn’t find a solid trace of you-”
“And then he got frustrated and trashed my room?”
“Maybe. It’s just a running theory. I will bring it up with Carlisle.”
Bella sighed and laid her head on his chest. I was already overwhelmed and I’d only dealt with it for a day. I didn’t know how they had managed it for so long.
Edward pulled his phone out right as it started ringing, only briefly checking the number. “Just the person I need to talk to,” Once he answered my heart started to race a bit. “Carlisle, I-”
I could hear his voice over the phone. It was low and fast. Edward looked very focused. I hoped nothing else was falling apart. “I’ll check it out. Listen…”
He went on to explain mine and Bella’s missing things, though it sounded like he was just as confused as we were. Carlisle sounded very concerned about my situation. I wished I could kiss him.
“Maybe I’ll go…” His eyes drifted to Bella. “Maybe not. Don’t let Emmett go alone, you know how he gets. At least ask Alice to keep an eye on things. We’ll figure this out later.”
Carlisle said something made Edward look at me. “Yeah. I’ll have Jasper go with her. I think that’s a good idea. I’ll talk to you soon.” He got off the phone, sent a quick message to Jasper I guessed, then turned to Bella. "Where's the paper?" he asked her.
"Uhm, I'm not sure. Why?"
"I need to see something. Did Charlie already throw it out?"
"Maybe…"
Then he was gone and I looked at Bella to see if she had any idea what was going on. I don't think she did. Half a second later, Edward reappeared with Jasper in tow. Despite my utter confusion I smiled warmly at Jasper.
"Hey, Y/n. Carlisle asked if I could bring you to meet him at the hospital." I wasn't sure how it would work or why exactly he wanted me to meet him there but I was more than willing to go. So I just nodded and he grinned. Any ideas to call Sam and see what he wanted went out the window.
"I'll-... just need to grab some things." I walked upstairs before anyone said anything more to me. I heard them resume making plans, I really just had to grab my keys and bag from Dads room. I couldn't even look into my own room again.
I went back into the kitchen and they were still talking, but I only caught the end of it. "I'll have to tell you soon. When there's time. It's a bit lengthy…"
She sighed and set her head on the table "What a mess."
Both of the guys chuckled softly before Jasper turned towards me. "Ready?"
"Sure…"
I said my goodbyes to the others. I told Bella I loved her and then we drove to the hospital in silence. He drove my car with the windows rolled down, so it wasn't terribly awkward. I thought that the windows being down might help ease some of his tension, and he was breathing so I figured I'd guessed right.
Though it was a bit strange, I was grateful he was willing to bring me to Carlisle. When we pulled up to the main entrance, I thanked him before I got out.
"It's really no problem, Y/n." He was the perfect southern gentleman as always. "I'll drive your car to the house. Carlisle will probably want you to come home with him anyway."
"You're right. Thank you… again."
He laughed, "Of course. One last thing… When I tell Bella my story, I'd like for you to be there as well. I think it might help clear some things up."
"Oh! Sure. We can make that happen."
"Alright. Then I'll see you later?" He gave me another crooked smile and I got out of the car. I thanked him again and he just laughed and drove towards his house.
I went straight to Carlisle's office. The receptionist was expecting me and informed me that Carlisle was in a meeting, but should be done quickly. I sat in his office chair and pulled the sleeves of his sweater around my hands before laying my head down on his desk.
He really didn't take long- Five, ten minutes tops- and when he was finally in the room he crouched down right in front of me.
"Are you alright, Dove?" His voice was heavy with concern. He placed a steady hand just above my knee.
"I'm okay- overwhelmed, but okay." I moved my head from his desk and rested it instead against his forehead.
"I am so sorry, Y/n. I'm going to get to the bottom of this."
My heart broke for him. "I know you will." I whispered. I smiled softly at him to really express my point and when he pulled back to look into my eyes, I kissed him. It was really cathartic. All I wanted to do was wrap myself up in him and hide from whatever was after us this time. Kissing him felt like I could do just that.
Remembering where we were, I eventually did pull back. "How much longer do you need to stay here today?"
"We're actually good to go now. They'll call if I'm needed, but I don't imagine they will. I thought we both would feel a bit better if you were here with me. He brushed my hair back and kissed me quickly before he added "If I'm being honest, I think I would feel significantly better if you were with me more consistently." There were a lot of implications in his tone but my brain was too cloudy to decipher his meaning.
When he saw how confused I was he continued. "If you were willing… If you wanted, I would be elated if you moved in with me."
As his words processed my eyes went wide. I held up one finger so I could think. I believe he chuckled and told me to take my time, but I couldn't be sure; I was too focused.
I spent most of my time at his house, moving in with him wouldn't be a huge change- if it didn't feel like a huge change. It felt official. I wasn't ready for marriage and I think most would agree that for our particular circumstances, marriage could wait.
But I did want to live with him. I knew that meant living in a house full of vampires, but they were my vampires. I wondered how they would feel about living with me. I hoped it wouldn't bother them too badly. I hoped it wouldn't be unbearable for Jasper.
Because I really wanted to live with them. I thought about my Dad. Bella would also move out in a few short weeks. If I moved out, he would be alone. I'm sure he knew we'd move out at some point. I still felt guilty that it was now. For now at least, I wouldn't be far.
And I wanted this.
I wanted this.
I wanted this.
I felt my cheeks warm as I blushed. I smiled at him and realized he was speaking again. His sentences were jumbled and he hardly put spaces between each word.
"-you do not have to. I know that we've only just gotten back and I would completely understand if this is too soon. I just want you to be safe and comfortable-"
"Carlisle." He froze and saw the smile on my face. He almost cracked a smile too. "I want to. If you're serious, I would love to move in with you."
For a second, he looked like he was processing. I gave him the time he needed, just as he had with me. When it cleared he held my face in his hands and kissed me. I melted into him immediately.
Sure, we would have to tell my dad eventually, but for right that second I could just focus on him. Whatever came next we would face it together.
~~
I caught Dad right before he went to work one morning, though he was already in uniform and only had to lace up his shoes. I floated down the stairs just before he could reach for the door handle.
I took a deep breath and rushed the words out, “Hey, really quick before you go… I was kinda thinking about moving in with Carlisle.”
He raised his eyebrows and turned to look at me. I couldn’t quite read his expression. “Oh, really? When?”
“I-I. Well, he asked me- a few days ago now. And I thought about it and decided I really did want to, so-” I stammered my way through my response a bit taken off guard. Thankfully he interrupted me with a laugh.
“No, Y/n, I mean when were you planning on moving out?”
“Oh…” I didn’t know. I hadn’t really thought past telling him. I'd basically already had started living there, without out-right saying it. "Most of my things are there, so I guess now." I waited for him to react, but he just nodded.
"Will You need help with your furniture? I'm sure Bella won't mind if we use her truck."
"No, No. I think I can leave most of it here… If that's okay with you." I threw the last bit out in a rush. I didn't want to assume I could.
"Of course, Kid. It's not like I've got plans to turn your room into an at home gym. You'll always have a space here."
I bit my lip, suddenly fighting back tears. "You're not mad?"
"Mad? Why would I be mad?" His confusion was genuine.
"I…" I took a steady breath. " I just thought you might still be upset that they left. I mean they haven’t been back that long and I wasn’t sure you’d be ecstatic about me moving in with him right now… And also you haven’t been alone in a long long time so-”
“Y/n, Honey, It’s okay. He crossed the room to wrap me in a tight hug. “It’s not like you're moving to a different country; you’re just going across town. I want you to be happy, I want you to start your life.”
He leaned back and smiled at me before wiping a tear from my check. I wasn’t sure when I’d started crying. He continued, “Now I won’t lie to you and say that I’m all that excited for you to get this serious so soon after they hurt you but- I do trust your judgment. I know you’ll be okay.”
I nodded and said, “You’re right, I will be.” then quickly asked, “Will you be alright?”
He laughed. “I will be alright, too. And, in the worst case, you can always come back.”
It was my turn to laugh. I pulled into him again and hid my face in his chest. “I love you, Dad.”
“I love you too, kid. I always will.”

“You’re okay George. You’re gonna be just fine,” Jake promised, pulling the blanket over George’s shivering body. Sweat trickled down his forehead, his teeth chattering like a train on its tracks.
“You okay, Georgie?” Edward asked as he lay across his cot, a cigarette hanging out of his mouth as the medic cleaned another sore on his back.
“Never better,” George whispered hoarsely, staring out from beneath the mountain of blankets, that despite the humid weather we’re doing nothing to bring him any warmth.
“You boys really need to go to the hospital. I’m going to try and pull a few strings, and get you to the hospital at Banika. I’m going to pull some paper and get you boys of this godforsaken place. You game?” The medic asked, looking at the two men in question.
“Hell yeah,” George and Edward replied and Jake smiled at the thought, at least two of his three remaining friends would be safe away from this hell hole.
“Sounds like a great plan. Thanks, Doc.” Jake followed the medic out of the tent. “How long do you think they’ll be gone for?”
“As long as they need to be. They need to rest, as do we all.”
“Well, there’s not a lot of chance of that around here, hey Doc?” Jake laughed and the medic nodded. After all, a good, deep sleep is a valuable commodity that was hard to come by in this place; both of them were well aware that the next battle wouldn’t be far off.
“What are you going to do without us around?” George chuckled, giving Jake his hand to shake. Jake took it instantly, shaking it as if it might be the last time he would see him. He hoped it wouldn’t be, he desperately wanted his friends to return but he also wanted them as far away from the war as possible, where they would be safe.
“Well, I’ll have Frank to keep me out of trouble. Don’t worry about me, okay? You just concentrate on getting better.” Jake felt a pang of sadness as he watched his two friends leave, with Edward pushing George in his wheelchair up the ramp of the troop ship. Jake never really felt alone, even when he was home sick and now he felt as though he was losing his family all over again.

Pavuvu June 1944
Dear Jake,
I’m not sure when this letter will reach you but your son was born 18th May at quarter to midnight. He is a little bundle of joy and he has your eyes. I can’t wait for you to meet him, Jake. I’ve enclosed a picture so you can keep him close to your heart. I have called him Jacob. It is only fitting that he has his fathers name.
News of the war is worse than ever. There was a large attack on Europe named D-Day on 6th June. I fear the war is far from won and fighting in North Africa continues still too. I am pleased to be away from work for a while. The never ending stream of bad news is almost too much to bear. At least for now I can pretend everything is okay, that everyone is safe. I wish you were here to enjoy this peace with me.
Thinking of you always
Your Y/n
Jake smiled fondly, running his dirt-engrained fingers over the picture of his son. His son. He couldn’t quite believe that he was a father, that someone like him could make something so perfect and untainted by the world. How could something do pure come from this horrendous year? Jake knew he had to keep fighting not only for Y/n now but for little Jacob too.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Well look at this. Fresh meat.” Frank pointed towards the group of fresh, baby-faced Marines as they walked up the beach in full pack.
“Jesus, are they ever old enough to drink? They’re just kids for Christ's Sake,” Jake groaned, throwing his book onto his cot. Each time recruits were sent to the front they seemed to get younger, just boys who within a few days would be homesick and crying out for their mothers as they bled out on some battlefield no one had ever heard of, in a place no one had ever visited.
“Is this How Company?” One of the baby Marines asked. He looked petrified and as Jake studied his face he noticed that the boy had probably never shaved.
“Who wants to know?” Frank asked, leaning against the supporting pole of the hut , puffing smoke from his cigarette over the recruit.
“I’m Private Daniel Chase. I’m joining How Company as a Machine Gunner. I meant to be with Sergeant Seresin.”
Jake looked at him dead in the eye. He’d never once considered that he would be sent a replacement for George. He knew that George was still pretty rough in the hospital in Banika but he didn’t think it was enough for them to send a replacement.
“I’m Sergeant Seresin. Put your kit down on that bunk there and then I’ll give you the tour.”
The young Marine did as he was told, clumsily knocking Jake’s belongings off the table, cursing, apologising and then nearly taking Jake out with his Garand.
“Okay kid, put all that shit down. Let’s go.” Frank watched in amusement as the young Marine stumbled after Jake, trying to keep up with his long strides.
Daniel Chase wasn’t a bad kid. He grew up in Louisiana with his parents and two sisters. He was funny and likeable, and Jake quickly warmed to him, taking him under his wing like a younger brother.
That evening the COs had set up a theatre and played ‘For Whom the Bell Tolls’ which mildly settled the normally rowdy Marines, except for the odd passing comment about the actress.
“Is it like this here most nights?” Chase asked, looking up at Jake inquisitively. The poor kid knew nothing of the world, Jake had realised as he gave him a tour of the camp. He didn’t smoke, didn’t drink, always said his prayers before bed and until joining the Marines had never done his own washing before.
“Sometimes. This is just to welcome the new guys, make you think that it’s all sunshine and rainbows until shit really hits the fan.” Jake knew he was only speaking the truth but regretted it as soon as the words left his mouth, the fear on the young boy's face reminded him too much of George when they had first seen battle.
“It’ll be alright, kid. There ain’t nothing to worry about, just stick with me and you’ll be fine.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Peleliu September 1944
The doors for the landing craft to exit the troop ship falling open was the beginning of it all. The bright light poured through the ship's hull as each craft flew out the doors and into the open water.
“HERE WE GO!” Jake shouted to Chase who nodded at him nervously. The poor boy had already been sick twice on Jake’s boots while they were waiting.
Aircraft flew overhead, sending bombs down onto the beach that sounded like freight trains whistling above Jake’s head. A few stray bullets hit the edge of the landing craft causing all the men to duck down. No one wanted to get hit before even reaching the beach. The large 50-caliber guns on the landcraft opened fire, trying to clear a path for the Marines to land.
The noise was deafening and between the gunfire and explosions Jake could hear Daniel let out a small whimper. “I'm scared, Jake,” Chase cried and Jake just looked at him, giving him a small reassuring smile. Well what else was he supposed to do? It wasn’t a good idea to lie to the kid but at the same time telling someone they’re probably going to die wasn’t on the cards either.
“You’re gonna be just fine, Kid. Just stay with me and keep moving.” That was the last time Jake spoke to Chase, but neither of them knew that.
As the landing craft hit the beach the smell of smoke was thick in the air, the doors swung down and groups of Marines began charging up the beach. Sand, tree bark, and bullets flew through the air. The ground was littered with bodies as Jake stumbled forward, cursing and falling into a nearby crater, taking cover from the firing above his head. He’d lost sight of Chase and Frank soon after leaving the landing craft. The scent of engine oil was thick in the air as Jake’s chest heaved from the effort. He turned to see a young Marine fall into the crater beside him, blood trickling down his face, eyes wide and frozen. Jake thought he saw the life leaving the poor boy's eyes, all the memories, the love, and future plans all gone in the blink of an eye and all that was left was a shell of who he had been.
Jake bit back a strangled scream as he pushed himself from the hole, crawling along to the next one and into the tree line where he got to his feet. Raising his Garand, he crouched low, hurrying through the trees. Earth flew up around him, the explosions ringing in his ears as he desperately tried to get his bearings, the high-pitch whistling doing nothing for his sense of direction. The last thing he needed was to be running back towards the beach. The smoke created a thick fog through the air, making it difficult to breathe and causing Jake to splutter, coughing loudly. Through all the shrapnel and gunfire flying around Jake didn’t hear the whistling above his head, the sound of the aircraft flying over, not until the explosion went off right beside him. The blast sent him through the air, his body falling helplessly to the ground.
The ringing noise in his mind was the only thing he recognised as his eyes cracked open, looking upon the grey clouds above him. They seemed to dance across the sky, the smokey smudges against the clear blue were a stark contrast but seemed to bring comfort to him. Jake realised that he rarely saw the sky without clouds of smoke anymore. It was sad really, he had always enjoyed the sunsets in Texas, and he’d often watched them with his mother as a young boy.
“JAKE! JAKE! OH FUCK! Hang on buddy. Just hang on for me.”
“Frank…” Jake whispered, reaching a bloody hand out to his friend who took it immediately.
“It’s okay Jake, I’m here. You’re gonna be alright.”
“Frank…w-where’s Y/n?” Jake asked, trying to sit up but Frank pushed him back down immediately.
“She’s not here right now but I promise as soon as we get you fixed up I'll find her okay? I'll find her you just have to hang on.” Frank’s voice was desperate as he applied pressure to Jake’s wounds.
“I NEED A MEDIC GOD DAMMIT!” Frank screamed but Jake just smiled up at him, shuffling to sit up slightly. Confusion crossed Jake’s face as he tried to move his legs again.
“Frank, I-I…can't f-feel my legs?” Jake looked up at him worried, trying again and again to move his legs but nothing happened. Nothing moved. Frank looked down at him sadly, tears glistening in the edges of his eyes.
“You're gonna be just fine, Jake. We’re gonna get your legs all sorted,” he promised, resisting the urge to look over at Jake’s bloodied legs that lay a few feet from them. “I promise, Jake.”
“Okay, Frank. I…trust y-you.”
Jake didn’t notice the way Frank's chest heaved as he screamed for a medic, he didn’t notice the desperate look on his friend's face and he didn’t notice the large pool of blood that trickled out onto the ground around him. Jake just smiled, his blue eyes looking back up at the sky as more aircraft flew over them. He could see Y/n face now, smiling down at him as she cradled little Jacob close. He reached his right hand out towards her, trying to grip hold of hers.
“Come to me, Jake,” she whispered to him. “It’s going to be okay.”
“Jake? No, no Buddy. You’ve got to stay with me, Jake. Stay with me.” Frank watched in horror as Jake’s eyes slid shut. The blood pumping through his fingers mercilessly as he tried his best to keep pressure on the wounds. A medic rushed in beside Frank, applying bandages to both of Jake’s legs. Frank continued to shout at the medic as he sat back, shaking his head defeatedly at Frank. He didn’t believe him. The medic continued to talk but Frank didn’t hear a word. He couldn’t be the only one left. It wasn’t supposed to be like this. Frank felt two strong arms pulling him to stand. The Lieutenants fought him, shouting harshly in his ears to keep moving and shoving a Garand into his bloody hands. The blood congealed around the gun, sticking it to Frank as if Jake himself was urging him to use it. His hands shook violently and despite the Lieutenant's protest he couldn’t help but spare a glance over his shoulder to his friend.
“Goodbye Jake.”

Chapter 4
Part 5
Edwart knew he shouldn't do this. He was perfectly aware. Over a week has passed since his talk with Ominis in the room of requirement. Edwart's uneventful week was filled with little to no rest, with nightmares and annoying Cruciatus Curse effects. Excluding his fatigue, he was feeling strong enough to finally do something. Edwart was starting to lose his mind inside the castle.
So when he got a letter asking him for help, he decided it was finally time to leave. After dinner, Edwart took out his broom and flew north to the localisation attached to Poppy's letter.
Edwart didn't even get to land before Poppy noticed him and almost frantically questioned him.
“Is Highwing all right? Natty told me what the two of you did!”
“Easy Poppy. Highwing's fine. I'm keeping an eye on her. She's safe, Poppy... I promise.” Edwart nodded with a serious expression at Poppy. Trying to signal her, she can trust him.
“Good. Whatever the poachers are up to. I want Highwing far from it,” Poppy nodded with a conviction as Edwart finally landed.
“You said you had news about the poachers - and that some of it had to do with me.” Edwart nervously rubbed his neck.
“I did. I overheard them talking in the Hog's Head and…” Poppy frowned. “did you know that they have orders from Victor Rookwood to capture you on sight?... Does this have anything to do with Rookwood and Harlow coming for you in the Three Broomsticks after the troll attack?”
Edwart signed quietly. He was pretty sure Poppy only knew bits and pieces. She didn't look as suspicious as Natsai did. Ed only saw kindness and compassion on Poppy's face.
“It does, somewhat. But, at the moment, I'm more concerned about what else you heard the poachers are up to.”
Poppy smiled and agreed to Edward's relief. “Fair enough. But I hope you'll let me know if I can be of help. Especially after what you did for Highwing.”
“I must say. I'm still a bit hesitant with the beasts… but I promise I'm taking good care of her.”
Poppy took a step closer to Edwart. She put a hand on his forearm. “I know you are.” She said with a smile. “Anyhow. Does the name 'Horntail Hall' mean anything to you?”
“I'm afraid not. Why? What is it?” Edwart frowned slightly.
“The poachers' best-kept secret apparently. The name came up twice, but they never went into detail. I also overheard one of them bragging about all the gold they're making. At the expense of innocent creatures, undoubtedly.”
“That's interesting indeed.” Edwart rubbed his chin trying to figure out how is it all connected.
“Also the poachers spoke of this area. and I thought if we searched around a bit it might give us clues as to what they're doing.”
“Sure.” Edwart nodded.
Poppy smiled. “If you ever meet my Gran, this trip never happened.”
“You think I’ll even get to meet your Grandmother to snitch on you?” Edwart chuckled. “Your secret’s safe with me.”
“I normally tell her everything. She might be my best friend after Highwing.” Poppy chuckled. “She knows how I feel about the poachers. I think she worries I'll do something ill-advised. But I trust you. I know there's true Hufflepuff kindness. I’ve seen it within you since the first day.” Poppy turned around and waved to ask Edwart to follow her. “This way.”
Edwart was perplexed and followed Poppy in silence, her words always caught him off guard.
Then suddenly Edwart noticed a tall half-horse and half-human towering over him and Poppy.
“A centaur! Tread carefully.'' Another three appeared and stood high above Edwart and Poppy.
“Me? I don't even-” Edwart grabbed his wand in his pocket for safety but was interrupted by one of the centaurs surrounding them. “An entire castle to roam, yet you choose to wander here...”
Edwart was thrown off tracks, Poppy looked at him with her big brown eyes. Most likely expecting him to speak back.
“Oh, you are serious...” Edwart muttered under his nose, looking down at Poppy. He cleared his throat to speak back to the centaur. “Please, we don't want any trouble. We're simply passing through here.”
The centaur certainly found both of them suspicious. “Do you take us for fools? That we do not notice more and more of your kind around here - in league with the poachers?”
“Erm-” At that point, Edwart was simply improvising. He has never seen centaurs before and Poppy just threw him into the deep water. “We aren't involved with them... If anything, we want to see them stopped.”
“I hope for your sake that is true. Our kind is swiftly losing patience with the poachers and those they work with.” Centaur scoffed and turned back into the woods right with his companions.
Poppy just kept walking as if nothing had happened. So Edwart spoke first.
“Um- what was that Poppy?!” Edwart asked, baffled.
“What?” Poppy couldn't hide her cheeky smile. “You handled yourself nicely. Kind of a life lesson when you think of it…”
“That b- No.” Edwart thought. “Edwart… A gentleman doesn't even think that way of a girl. Even if she is a kind, Hufflepuff pain in the arse.” Ed cleared his throat and spoke back. “He was certainly a charmer...”
“That could have gone worse. Centaurs aren't exactly fans of wizardkind. And the poachers aren't helping matters.” Poppy replied.
“But why would he think that we had anything to do with poachers?” Edwart asked curiously looking down at his wardrobe choice.
“I did notice the poachers talking with a few villagers in Hogsmeade. I'm not sure why. Perhaps that's why the centaurs are suspicious.” Poppy pondered.
Both friends continued walking in silence. When suddenly Edwart felt his nose getting strangely wet. He scratched it and noticed blood on his fingers. He quickly looked up at Poppy to see if she noticed that abnormality in Edwart’s health. Luckily she was too busy babbling about an aggressive Dugbog they had seen.
Edward quickly cleaned himself up and continued walking behind Poppy as If nothing had happened. Then suddenly Poppy stopped him. “This is odd.”
“What is it?” Edwart asked.
“Not entirely sure. But see it? We should look around. If the poachers were here, perhaps we can find out why.”
Edwart and Poppy looked around the camp and saw a bunch of things left behind. But only one piqued Edwart's interest. “Hmm… This is goblin metal. Seems out of place in a poacher camp. I should tell Poppy about it.”
“Anything interesting?” Asked Poppy.
“Poachers were here. All sorts of evidence. But I found something else. Goblin-made things.” Edwart answered with a bit of concern.
“I found goblin armour.” Poppy frowned. “Let's keep searching. But carefully. Merlin only knows what's going on here. I saw some smoke down there” Poppy pointed.
Edwart and Poppy went downhill. Edwart felt his body shaking again so he swiftly drank the potion made by Ominis.
“I don't have a good feeling about this,” Poppy muttered under her breath. “How do goblin and poacher interests align?”
But Edwart knew how. He was the said ‘alignment’. Rookwood, Ranrok and now poachers. It was all connected. “See down there?” Edwart finally spoke.
“Definitely poachers.” Poppy frowned. “No creatures, though. So what are they doing out here?”
“Let's take a closer look,” Edwart said.
“Wait.” Poppy stopped Edwart. “They won't be happy to see us. Should we use disillusionment? Or perhaps a less discrete approach?
“No.” Edwart shook his head. “Best to try to get rid of them quietly.”
Everything went well according to plan. Edwart and Poppy fought quietly through all the poachers standing near a giant tent. When the place around them seemed quiet enough both Hufflepuffs shed their disillusionment charm and that's when Edwart heard a quick “Aguamenti!” and felt ice-cold water on his back along with words: “It's him! It's that kid! Capture him!” 2 wizards appeared behind Edwart.
Poppy took care of them quite swiftly. “You alright?” She asked clearly out of breath still, with concern in her voice.
“Yes, I am fine.” Edwart lied. He was doing that too often lately for his liking. He was freezing to the bone.
“Merlin, you'd think they were guarding the Minister of Magic himself. What is going on here?” Poppy said with disbelief loud in her voice.
“Only one way to find out.” Edwart thought as they entered the tent.
When Edwart and Poppy entered, they were hit by a change of temperature which was greatly appreciated by a freezing soaking-wet Edwart. “What is Merlin's name-?” Poppy whispered, anger pouring out of her. They heard roars and metal clinging before they crouched towards big wooden crates to get a better look at what was making those loud noises.
“Are those dragons?” Edwart asked bewildered.
“Yes. It's a dragon fighting ring! This is Horntail Hall! No wonder the poachers were in Hogsmeade so much. Likely taking bets and spreading the word, given how crowded it is here.”
Edwart had no idea what to say. He didn't even know that dragons existed more than 4 months ago. He figured out that dragons were being used by Ranrok as a weapon of mass destruction and since poachers are connected…
“How could they possibly enjoy this?” Poppy interrupted Edwart’s line of thoughts. “The centaurs have every right to be disgusted with wizardkind. There must be more dragons here. The poachers are far too greedy to run a fighting ring with only two dragons. We should take advantage of most eyes being on the fight and look around. But be discreet. You especially can't afford to be spotted.”
“Yes, that's true. Just… before we go.” Edwart stepped to the side rubbing his cold hands near a lit torch to warm up a bit more. Edwart quietly signed with satisfaction.
Poppy took a step closer to her friend taking his hands in hers. “Merlin! You're ice cold.” She stated.
“I'm alright. Really. Let's get this over with.” Edwart shook Poppy off as he cast disillusionment charm. Poppy frowned and did the same.
Luckily both students were able to quietly take out a few poachers on their way to free the dragons. To Poppy's surprise, she spotted a lot of goblins around and about.
“Did you hear those goblins? Ranrok and the poachers must be working together!” Poppy said with disbelief audible in her voice. A sentence that confused Edwart a bit. He already knew Goblins had an immoral allegiance with the poachers. But maybe because of the big target on his back, Edwart was more careful and… perceptive perhaps.
“Poppy - something's going on behind you.” He pointed to the loud roaring behind his friend.
Both students kneeled to get a better look. The stands of the dragon arena were empty. They’ve noticed one giant dragon hit by spells from every poacher’s wand. The dragon was fighting but all the abuse it had endured wasn't helping its case.
“They must've only just captured her. She's putting up quite the fight” Poppy whispered.
“Not a fair one, though. Not with her chained up like that. Let's even her odds, shall we?”
Edwart frowned at the knowledge they were about to fight.
Edwart and Poppy continued carefully and quietly walking down the staircase that most likely led to the arena. That's when Poppy suddenly stopped Edwart.
“Oh. My. Merlin. Look! They've got a dragon egg! Hebridean, from the looks of it. We can't leave it here. Not with the plans they likely have for it.”
“Are you sure this is a good idea? How would we carry it?” Edwart asked, confused.
Poppy looked around the room and noticed Poacher's shrinking carrier that could be taken to carry the dragon’s egg. “I'm sure. Come on.”
Edwart gently picked the dragon egg up. In the hope, it wouldn't explode in his hands. He gently put it in the carrier and Poppy hid it in her pocket.
“Ready?” Poppy asked with a bit of audible nervousness. “The element of surprise will only buy us a few seconds.”
“Let's go free the dragons.” Edwart sounded equally as unsure as Poppy did.
Both Hufflepuffs burst through the doors and knocked unconscious so many poachers, ashwinders and goblins, that they've lost count. They kept going and fought through all the adversaries. Edwart kept ignoring the awful headache along with strong fatigue.
“We don't have time! We need to free her now before more show up!” Poppy screamed through all the commotion as Edwart realised his mind had gone blank for a moment. He was kneeling on the ground swearing to himself that Ominis would murder him if he'd ever found out.
Edwart swiftly got up and cast a powerful Accio to get the dragon out of those metal restraints.
The dragon began its raging roaring which made Edwart question his poor choices.
“This may have been a bad idea,” Edwart said, awaiting the worst.
“I suppose we'll find out,” Poppy said with such excitement in her voice as if someone told her Christmas was beginning early.
Edwart didn't even get a chance to voice his utter disbelief because the dragon broke the caging. A few poachers appeared around Poppy and Edwart. Before any of them could make a move the dragon took its revenge and swallowed one of the adversaries, much to Edwart's disgust and Poppy’s… admiration.
Edwart took a look around to notice all of the poachers frozen in place, clearly afraid of a dragon that stood dangerously before them.
“Poppy.” Edwart whisper-shouted just in time because the dragon had finally made up its mind and melted off the remaining threat. Edwart and Poppy would've ended the same way if not for the quick use of their strongest Protego.
While Poppy was mesmerised again Edwart allowed himself for a small eye roll before taking matters into his own hands. “Confringo!” He burned the roof of the ‘tent’ they were still in. “Poppy! Free the rest!” Edwart screamed which Poppy did when the biggest dragon decided to spare their lives as it flew up and away. The three other dragons did the same as the tent started to dangerously crumble down.
“This way quickly!” Poppy grabbed Edwart by his sleeve and both students ran outside of the tent and collapsed onto the freshly snowed ground trying to regain regular breathing.
Poppy signed with satisfaction. “That was a Hebridean Black!”
Edwart was perplexed. Part of him was angry at Poppy's recklessness and the other part was confused about how she could be so fascinated by such dangerous creatures.
“Did you lose your mind back there?!” Edwart panted. “You didn't freeze because you were scared, you froze because you were mesmerised!”
“Don't tell me you weren't.” Poppy smiled in excitement.
Edwart sat up. “No, I wasn't! What you did was extremely dangerous! We could've died! We could've-” A rather sudden coughing fit interrupted Edwart’s concerns. Which made Poppy stand to her feet forgetting about exhaustion. She tried to help Edwart but he just subconsciously raised his hand to show Poppy to leave him alone. After a minute or two Edwart's sick-like coughing came to a stop and he spoke in a weak voice. “You cannot tell Ominis about any of this.”
Poppy kneeled next to a heavy-breathing Edwart. “Why? Edwart, what's going on?”
Ed took a deep breath. “I was sick recently and Ominis cannot know. Please. Promise me.”
“I promise. Now let’s get you back to Hogwarts. You need to go to Nurse Blainey regardless of Ominis.” Poppy put a hand on Edwart’s shoulder as she helped him get up.
“Thank you, Poppy, but I'll manage. The egg we have belongs to that dragon. No doubt.” Edwart changed the mood to ease the awful frown Poppy was wearing.
“I don't think she knew they had her egg. She wouldn't have left without it.”
"What now? She didn't exactly leave us a calling card." Ed frowned.
“I don't know…” Poppy rubbed her chin. “Nothing about this day was expected - not the goblins and definitely not the fighting ring. The last thing I planned on was a dragon egg:
And the poachers saw us. Which cannot be good.”
“We aren't helping ourselves standing here. Let's split up. We can sort this out later.” Edwart smiled trying to ease his friend.
“You're right. Thank you Edwart.” Poppy smiled as brightly as one could do. “Be careful, won't you? I shall see you back at the castle.”

Hello! Congratulations on 500 followers!! It is I; the sleep deprived anon. Got a slightly better schedule now. Doc literally prescribed me less work and more sleep, but that was mostly because I hit my head under a desk and got a minor concussion.
Anyway, I hope you’re taking more time for yourself! Your writing is fantastic as always, and I’m really happy for you 😊
If I may, can I request something for your event with Gotham City Sirens Riddler? I have so many thoughts about this man and not enough brainpower to express it. If I had to pick one from your list, I’d go for a first date night drabble with a large side of fluff and a medium soda.
Night night! Congrats again!
A/N: Hey there sleep deprived anon! Ouch, I’m sorry to hear about your minor concussion! I hope you’re doing much better with your improved schedule! Gotham City Sirens Riddler - First Date Night
When Edward offered to buy dinner one night, you couldn't say no.
Yet, you couldn't help but ponder over if…it's a date or not?
It definitely gave off..date vibes? You dressed formally, as was Edward sitting in front of you. He even wore a different suit that was a richer forest green than the bright one he wore at work.
The restaurant you were at was…no hole in the wall either. There were chandeliers spaced throughout the ceiling. Fine linen decorated the tables accented with a candelabra in the middle of each.
Your instincts were telling you that this was a date, but you didn't want to read too much into it either.
Edward cleared his throat and that somehow broke you out of your reverie.
"A penny for your thoughts?"
You ought to just ask. Be upfront…
"I'm just curious as to why…you wanted to get dinner? Not-not that I don't mind! I'm just…"
"You want to know if this is a date?"
You gulped. Were you really that obvious? Perhaps, he was wondering the same thing.
You simply nodded, worried you would incriminate yourself somehow more if you spoke.
“I wanted to do something…to show my gratitude. I know I’m not the easiest man to work for, nor always the most pleasant but…I do appreciate your effort and…while I could do things myself. You have helped make running a small investigation firm much easier.”
All of a sudden you wanted to throw up the piece of the dish you tried to eat. How stupid you were to even consider-
“But I would be lying if I said I didn’t hope for something to prosper from this…”
Wait, what?
“W-Wait you mean?”
Edward smiled softly. “I mean it when I say I don’t know where I would be or what I would do without you. I know I don’t show it…I know I don’t say it enough. But…this reform of mine. I knew it was going to be difficult, it would be hard for anyone to believe it.”
He continued. “Then you answered my riddle in my job ad for the office assistant position. And you fearlessly…didn’t care. Whatever I handed to you, you…dealt with…with complaints I’m sure.”
You guffawed. “Yeah, no, I…I’d be lying if I said I didn’t curse your name, your birth, your mom maybe..”
“Mm-hm.”
“Sorry.”
Edward chuckled. “Don’t be. I, again, don’t blame you. But, you could have left at any point. You could have gotten up and quit. And, I wouldn’t blame you.”
Ed reached his hand out and gently placed it over yours.
“You…you’ve stayed. In this crazy city, full of gods, goddesses, villains, and heroes…you stuck by me, an ex-rogue turned detective.”
You placed your other hand over Edward’s and held it, running your thumb over his knuckles. “There’s no one else I’d rather be stuck to. Although, I’d argue you’re stuck with me than vice versa.”
Edward laughed. “That may be the case on some days. Much like you said, I couldn’t imagine a better person to be with. If you choose to take this…relationship further?”
You smiled, eyes widened in excitement. Your fingers slowly interlocked with his.
“This is starting to be an amazing first date, Eddie.” You winked.

Rutger McGroarty
This is my first Fan fiction, so please don’t make fun of me 🙏😄
Contains: fluff, kind of an awkward reader, suggesting sex, and a cute Rutger!
1.2k words.
You meet Rutger at a hockey game in your home town and things… escalate.
The college you were going to next year’s hockey season was coming to an end, and they were playing your favorite hockey team. Umich Wolverines. You and your best friend were recently obsessed with Rutger Mcgroarty and Ethan Edwards, so when you two heard the news; you knew you had to go.
The both of you couldn’t wait until the game and finally the day had come. Now it’s 2 am, and you and your best friend are sitting in the bleachers, dressed head to toe in Michigan colors, waiting for your boys to come out on the ice for the last period. There were 10 minutes left until period 3, and you really had to go to the bathroom. Your best friend didn’t have to go, so you said you’d meet her when you came back.
“Are you sure you don’t want me to come with you”.
“I’ll be fine. We can’t lose our spot.”
She nodded her head, and you hurried off the bleachers and went down the stairs to where the bathrooms were. This was the rink you had come to to ice skate for fun on weekends and also the part of the rink where the team would come in and exit out of. You went to the bathroom and then made your way to the concession stand to get some hot chocolate. Why not?
You rested your head on your arm and looked around while you waited for your drink, when you spotted a boy coming out of the bathroom. Holy shit. It wasn’t just any boy. It was Rutger Mcgroarty.
You turned around, putting your hand over your mouth trying to keep composure, but you definitely weren’t — and he noticed.
The concession man handed you your coffee, and you grabbed it, but your hands were shaking so hard that you dropped it. “Oh shit, I’m so sorry.” Your face went red in embarrassment. You grabbed paper towels from the dispenser sitting in the left corner and started to clean up the spill.
“That’s probably my fault”, a man beside you said laughing. You looked up and saw the familiar sweaty face and brown hair. Your mouth dropped.
“One more hot chocolate for… her”, he said turning towards you, “and a water for me”.
“H-hi”, you spit out nervously. “Hello.” He grabbed some more paper towels and cleaned up the rest of the hot chocolate. “Thank you.”
“No problem. What’s your name?”
“Y/n.”
“That’s a really pretty name. Nice to meet you y/n.”
“Very nice to meet you too”, you said a little too excitedly.
He laughed. The man handed you your hot chocolate again and gave Rutger his water.
“That’ll be $5”, the man said. Rutger took out some money from his pocket, which you didn’t even know he had (he was wearing his hockey jersey and shorts) and handed the man the money.
“Thanks”, you said sympathetically.
“Of course.”
He opened his mouth, looking hesitant and then he said, “Would you want to come see the locker room. We have free jerseys we’re handing out. I could give you one.”
“Ummm yea! I would love to.”
“Okay”, he smiled looking excited. He walked down the hallway by the bathroom and opened a door to the locker room. No one was in there, except for you two, and that made you nervous.
Rutger walked to a table and grabbed one of the jerseys handing it to you.
“Could I get one for my friend too?”, you said looking at him with hopeful eyes. He couldn’t reject you when you looked like that.
“Oh yea, of course”, he said half grinning; that grin you wanted to kiss right now. He turned around, took another one off the table and handed it to you.
“Could you sign them? Please.” He laughed at your requests and went to go find a marker. When he found one he came back up to you and signed both of them. You smiled down at them, bubbling with excitement — and when you looked back at him, he had that same smile plastered across his face looking at you. At you.
“Why don’t you put it on?”, he said hesitantly.
“Right now? Like right now in front of… you”.
“Yea”, he eyed you up and down.
“Okay…”.
You decided to just put it over your sweatshirt — but then you didn’t like the way it felt. It was too hot. So you took off the jersey and you decided to be risky.
You took off your shirt, showing your bra and slipped the jersey back on. Rutger’s mouth was open, and when he noticed you were looking at him, he closed it shut. He cleared his throat.
“It looks good on you”, he said before smiling. You blushed.
“I’m gonna be honest, I came over to you because I thought you were pretty.”
“Me? You thought I was pretty?”
“Yea. Why? Is that hard to believe?”
“I guess so. I mean you’re my celebrity crush.”
He laughed at that. “I wouldn’t say celebrity, but thank you.” You internally rolled your eyes. Humble boy.
“Well you’re a well known hockey player and so many girls want you… so yea, it’s hard to believe.”
He started getting closer to you. Your breathing hitched. What time is it? “Well you better believe it”, he whispered. Shouldn’t he be playing again by now? He rested his hand on your face. Your friend was definitely wondering where you were. But as soon as his lips touched yours, you didn’t care… about any of it. All you cared about was Rutger and where his lips were and what his hands were doing and about twenty minutes later (you definitely didn’t know), the both of you left the locker room, cheeks red, hair messy, and stumbling to where you needed to be.
You climbed back over to your seat by your friend and handed her her New Jersey. “Look what I got us!”
Her mouth dropped.
“Where did you get these?!”
“I’ll tell you later”.
“Where the fuck were you though? Did you have to shit or something? The game is almost over. Also I couldn’t see Rutger anywhere, so I don’t know where he is.”
A few seconds later she spotted him and then turned and looked at you. She examined the pink in your cheeks and the state of your hair, and you saw the sparkle in her eyes when she put two and two together.
Her eyes widened. “Oh my god! What did you do?”
You started smiling and her mouth dropped. “Wait, oh my god!”
“Did you hook up with Rutger Mcgroarty?”, she whispered, barely believing these words were coming out of her mouth.
You started smiling again. “Yes!!” You started jumping up and down, you couldn’t contain your excitement. She jumped with you.
You looked down at the ice. There were 5 seconds left, and right before the buzzer sounded… Michigan scored a point, winning the game, and it was made by number two.
Everyone screamed and you hugged your friend, overwhelmed by everything that just happened tonight.
