Okay I have thoughts about the last scene with Buck saving Gerard
I legit think Buck's instincts of save person kicked in. Think about it. That construction has been going on for a good while that it's probably a familiar sound. Anyone who knows a particular sound would know what it's supposed to sound like when it's running normally.
So the second that blade started sounding off, Buck heard it while probably trying to tune out Gerard's bullshit and his instinct kicked in. He didn't need to see the blade coming, he heard it.
And that's why Buck will be the firefighter Gerard will NEVER be ever.
