CHIHIRO – 정우영
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
synopsis . in which you finally let yourself let him go during a cold rainy night
pairing . jung wooyoung & fem!reader
genre . angst (way too much), lovers to exes, non idol!au

word count . 0,9k
DISCLAIMER! suggestive language (a lot of bad words in here), lots of manipulation and slyness from wooyoung, cold-hearted reader, slight violence (yn smacks wooyoung’s cheek), hints of cheating.
NIC’S NOTES ofc this is based of chihiro by billie eilish. the second i listened to this song, i thought of this angsty scenario. and so i thought it’d be a great idea to put wooyoung as the protagonist bc since enemies to lovers troupe fits him so well, why don’t do it backwards? ;))) alsoo, lowercase is intentional (yep, again)
Tumblr media
“yn, come on!” wooyoung shouted as he ran towards you desperately; breath hitching, legs trembling. the only thing he could recognize within his visual field were the ends of your dark hair flying back in goodbye, your heart already very far from his. “don’t be like that. you know this isn’t the way to fix things up.”
your leather boots splashed against the puddles of water generated by the rainy dew that announced a great storm, your hands seeking protection from the cold in the pockets of your coat. you heard wooyoung’s wet footsteps as you saw his figure getting closer to you, alerting you. you stopped dead in your tracks when he forcibly grabbed your wrist, compelling you to look at him, to look at those pleading eyes that manipulated you so much. those goddamned eyes that changed your personality so much. “don’t you fucking touch me.” you huffed sternly, shaking your arm as you tried to escape his grasp, your eyes stabbing daggers into his heart. those merry, stunning, and beaming eyes were replaced by an opaque, lightless gaze. one he’d never forget. since when did you hold so much resentment and hatred for him that you saw him that way? as if you had never loved him. as if you had never felt anything at all.
he let you go the second he understood that you were capable of punching him in the face if he even touched a minimal part of your skin. “fine, i won’t touch ya,” he raised his hands up in surrender. but still he tried to explain himself, even though he knew that he was the last person you wanted to see at the moment, “can’t we talk about this at home? it’s freezing cold out here, and you’re wearing shorts-”
“since when do you care so much?” yes, he was right, your legs quivered as your uneven breathing made your lips release condensed clouds, but you wouldn’t let him know. standing as hard as a rock, you continued, “don’t look for me neither call me anymore. i want nothing to do with you.”
wooyoung’s breath hitched and as he tried to pull himself together, he tried for one last time to convince you and mold your mind. “hey that’s a very hasty decision, don’t you think?” he paused briefly, his sigh exhaled right on your face, “yn, is this because of hana?”
the sound of her name sliding down his tongue was the straw that broke the camel’s back. after everything he had done, he really thought that this was just a little scene of yours? a little whim?
“no! it’s not because of her. it’s because of you!” you finally screamed, your heart winning over the pride that wanted to predominate in you. “you and your stupid manipulations, your excuses, and your fakeness.” your eyes threatened to water, but you wouldn't collapse. not now. “how dare you come after me and try to explain yourself after i found you with her sitting on your lap as you giggled at some of those weird ass jokes of yours.”
“oh so it is because of her,” he got closer to you, more than you would’ve allowed him, your lips being an absurd distance away. “why are you causing all of this when you could’ve just asked me?” his hand began to trail its way up to your cheek, and as soon as he cupped it, your hand slammed against his cheek loudly, pulling his figure to the left. the humidity of your hand and his face making the impact even more painful.
“you... disgusting little shit” your grossed-out expression being visible even for a blind man. “how could i have gotten involved with someone like you?” you sighed to yourself. a moment of silence drowned the conversation. wooyoung facing the ground as you stared sternly at him. but then, you decided to confess, “you know, at first i thought this was a fairytale, my most perfect fantasy. but turns out it was yours, not mine. definitely not mine.”
you resumed, “fuck, i was so blinded.” your palm landed on your forehead as you turned your body and faced up to the night sky, a couple of raindrops decorating your frozen cheeks, “this whole relationship was nothing but your slyness trying to mold my personality and mentality to your whim, wasn’t it?” you didn’t even give him a moment to respond, “who the fuck do you think you are?”
“yn. you’re hallucinating, my love. please, let’s stop all this nonsense-”
“i don’t even recognize you at all.” you spat, your frozen limbs welcoming an intrude, a strange warmness. maybe because you had said what was stuck in your throat for months. finally, you got out of that jail, that imprisoned manipulation that caused you vexation for so long.
“don’t say that. yn-” you observed as his eyes started to well up with tears, but it didn’t hurt you. not anymore. from one moment to the next, jung wooyoung’s existence stopped mattering to you. after such a long time, you became insensitive to those pleading eyes.
“don’t look at me like that. i’m not yours anymore.” you finally sentenced. “goodbye, jung wooyoung.” those were your last words to him so that you turned around and started on your way to, probably, your best friend's house, leaving behind a broken-hearted wooyoung, his eyes being similar to the thousand-yard stare as he watched the ripples of a puddle of water as the rain became heavier and heavier.
probably, you’d meet again in another life, or not. the emptiness you felt at that moment was unexplainable —you’d probably shirk it and let your drunk self take matters into its own hands. but you were sure that jung wooyoung taking your love away from you wouldn’t be so easy to forget.

My dear Brainrot and Roman Empire:
Almost finished playing BG3 and absolutely loved it despite all bugs, problems and mistakes. But one thought keep troubling me after revealing past of the Emperor and how touching his relationship seems to be with Ansur.
Guys, I'm serious, I need AMV, because these two being lovers or just written in stars legendary bromance, they have major vibe Arcade and Saturno. Honestly, they have too little time on screen, but it felt, all those pears were just perfect.
There is so little content in this fandom for me personally on  many things, like Raphael and Tav as worthy combatants and all tension between them (I just can’t help myself), the story between Hope and Raphael, all his sayings about Tav in diaries, Haarlep being most iconic all the time (I need him and Raphael doing that barbie prison posing, because despite being smart he prefers being the best bimbo in the world and material girl, I can’t help but just adore him), sweet sweet Withers (my baby, my baby, you're my baby, say it to me), him, who, with his little riddles and simple phrases, just hanging around kept my/Tav's faith and sanity in check, because when you watch almost everything Laezel believed in turn against her, Gale being forced to kill herself by his ex-lover/his goddess, Shadowheart stuck between Shar's foggy future and Selunite's past, Arabella's parenrs, Astarion with all his baggage, Will with Mizora and his father, Karlach with a sick heart, so you come to him broken and still find some kind of stability and desire to keep going, thinking you're still doing right - well, doing everything that Scratch could not say, but always wanted - Stoney and Boney being my most healthy comfies (If I ever enter into a relationship, then let it be like this).
I almost cried at Jaheira story with her husband(I have utmost respect to him), Minsc and Astarion bro duo - is my favorite, despite i always enjoyed sarcastic banter between Astarion, Gale, Shadowheart and sometimes Lae'zel, then Jaheira and Minthara came - that moment I needed to stop all quests lines and just listen to them talking, then came Minsc and Boo and I fall, recruiting Minsc was one ofthe best decision in the whole game, and so on.
In the camp in the third act, I caught myself thinking that, I don’t have to glue them together, they can now stick together and communicate without me. I just look at them and my eyes rejoice, my dear babies, my big broken family, I will do everything to make you happy, safe and sound (also had a bug that the whole camp was hanging around with me, so this ralks in-between often made my day a day). I'm one step away from actually starting to make content, because AAAAAA what are you doing to me?
But Ansur and the Emperor became my roman Empire. I don’t care about the nature of their relationship, because whatever they are for each other, their devotion, their common  past and non-romantic intimacy, understanding and knowledge of certain traits, it’s as if they have their own language.
Ansur’s despair, although he was there almost until the very end - I’m just AAA, oh glass, my favorite tasty glass. I can’t even imagine how hard it was for both of them not only to meet in person, but also the absurdity of finally seeing the corpse of their dear comrade. And although only one of them is technically undead, both are essentially looking at the corpse of their former friendship.
I can’t even express in words how much I feel about this. And it seems to me personally that for some reason Ansur knows that Tav and their group of adventurers will be able to overcome what Ansur could not prevent a long time ago, which is why he fights so hard. I just can’t bear this resentment, this bitterness, this story with all the little pieces that were shown to us.  Someone do it, please

Lie Your Way To The Truth
Prompt: Ooh I have an idea - Bokuto being a bro and coming up with increasingly absurd heroic acts for Kuroo to impress the reader?? Like “saving” a child from “drowning”, bragging about him so on Requested by: anonymous.
A/N: I very much adore Kuroo, and want you all to know I listed to a Kuroo playlist while writing this fic cause I felt it was only natural. Pairing: Kuroo Tetsuro x F!Reader
Tumblr media
“There she is!”
“Honestly, Bokuto, this is absurd--!”
“Shh,” there’s a resounding clap as his hand hits his chest, “this will work.”
Your eyes scan across the entire gym, easing when you catch sight of the group of boys you’d been sent after. After the managers noticed a select few still hadn’t come to grab dinner, they’d sent you promptly on their way after them (and specifically your team’s captain) without really letting you get a word in edgewise.
Nonetheless, you hadn’t had much to complain about. Because you were all too happy to have the chance to catch up with Kuroo. He had, of course, been lately busy with training camp going on.
You catch his eye, offering a bright smile as you make your way into the gym. All eyes fall on you at your intrusion, but Bokuto being the way he always is, continues on with his conversation with Kuroo, quite loudly if you were being honest.
“It’s honestly thanks to you, man,” he sends a jab to Kuroo’s side, “that that puppy is now safe and all warm and happy in it’s new home. Without you, it would’ve probably starved, maybe even to death, and--”
Sending a look Kuroo’s way at Bokuto’s words, to which the man only blushes, you come to a stop in front of the two, as the other’s gather around them. “Hello boys,” you greet warmly, tilting your head to the side in a greeting that has Kuroo’s stomach fluttering with butterflies of all things and he’s almost completely enamored by the presence of you.
“Y/N/N!”
At least until he nearly goes deaf at Bokuto’s boisterous greeting.
Kuroo straightens out the second Bokuto’s arm leaves his shoulders, letting out a small sigh at the relief it puts on his already tired muscles. But Bokuto seems all too oblivious, his attention now fully on you as the rest stare on in wonder. Well, at least, Lev and Tsukishima seem curious, Akaashi looks like this is a daily occurrence for him.
“I did not see you come in at all,” he adds, putting a little too much emphasis on his words.
You just seemed confused, baffled even -- which was a lot given that Bokuto didn’t really make sense most of the time. And Kuroo can’t help the small smile that curls onto his lips when you once again look towards him for some kind of guidance, to which he simply shrugs, and the two of you, in his opinion, share your own little moment.
“Ah, well, anyways,” you laugh lightly, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear and Kuroo shamelessly watches the movement of your hand with great focus. “I came to grab you guys because they’re about to put dinner away and start cleaning up for the night and I didn’t want you--ahh!”
A squeak leaves your lips as you’re all but suddenly swept up into a pair of strong arms, your feet leaving to comfortable ground beneath you completely. It takes you a moment, a blink or two before you realize it’s Bokuto whose got you all wrapped up in his arms, cheering loudly; “you’re an absolute savior, Y/N/N! I’m starving!”
Frowning, Kuroo steps forward; “put her down, dumbass. Before you drop her.”
Bokuto heeds, but the second you’re back on your own two feet, a little dizzy if nothing else, he’s sending a pout the boys way. “Moo... You’re so cruel, Kuroo.” But his sadness doesn’t last as Akaashi simply reminds him the two of them better start heading towards the cafeteria before the foods all gone, pointing towards the door Lev and Tsukishima have already made their way out of.
“Hey hey hey!” Bokuto cheers, voice booming as he drags Akaashi along with him.
Kuroo and you watch the two run off, realizing a second later that it’s just the two of you left.
“Did you eat?” Kuroo asks you, pulling your attention on him as he moves forward.
You nod, smiling softly. “I ate with Kenma,” you explain, “and I put a plate aside for you.”
Kuroo’s eyes gleam. “How thoughtful,” he whistles, pressing a hand right above his heart before sending you a smirk. “I never thought you cared about me so much, Y/N/N.”
You flush lightly, “sh-shut up,” you huff, picking up the speed in your step. “I made one for Lev too, of course!”
But, in reality, you didn’t.
-
“Didn’t you save a kid from drowning once?”
It’s breakfast the next morning, and instantly you’re one sided focus on your breakfast is interrupted as Bokuto’s words drift towards you. Swallowing the food in your mouth, you look up from your spot across from the two boys, quirking a curious brow.
“You did?” You question, attention focused solely on Kuroo -- thus, you miss the sly grin that grows on Bokuto’s lips.
“Well, not--” He cuts off by a groan, Bokuto’s elbow hitting him directly in the gut and sending an unpleasant feeling throughout his entire body. Kuroo sends the boy a sharp glare, but he only responds with a harsher one, subtly tilting his head in your direction as if Kuroo was dumb.
Oh.
Oh...
so this was Bokuto’s plan? Come up with obscure heroic acts to brag about for the sake of impressing you for him... He had to admit it was a good plan, and not a complete lie. He had found a puppy once on the side of the street, but hadn’t necessarily nursed it back to health himself. And there was that one time his cousin had been drowning in the pool, but Kuroo had been too busy laughing at his misfortune to focus on saving him and oh-- what the hell.
Why not?
“I-I did, yes,” Kuroo nods, turning to you with a smirk. “My cousin.”
“That’s right,” Bokuto grins, clapping his hands. “Your mother went on and on about it that one time I came over. She wouldn’t stop gushing about how brave you were.”
Kuroo eyes you and honestly, you seem a little skeptical if the narrowing of your eyes was any telling. But, you were smiling that cute little smile of yours and you seemed amused nonetheless -- not to mention your attention was focused on him, so, Kuroo felt Bokuto’s plan, despite how odd it seemed to compliment the idiot, was actually working.
“Well then,” you smile over at Kuroo, eyes twinkling with delight. “I’ll make sure to bring you along the next time I go swimming. I absolutely suck.”
Kuroo practically beams with praise.
“Of course!”
-
“Isn’t it kind of bad to... lie?”
“Nah, nah, see, my padawan,” Kuroo pointedly chooses to ignore that comment, “we’re not really lying. Just bending the truth a little.”
“It still seems wrong,” Kuroo frowns, “I don’t want her to be disappointed when she learns I’m not actually that amazing of a person.”
Frowning, Bokuto’s expression turns suddenly serious at that. He promptly sets his hand on his friends shoulder, squeezing tightly in what he’s sure is a reassuring way (but honestly, Kuroo is more weirded out then anything) and sends the boy a wistful look (he just looks like an owl) before nodding; “you aren’t.”
Kuroo blinks. Once, twice, and then all but rips Bokuto’s hand off of him; “what the hell man!”
“Don’t get mad,” Bokuto cries, holding his hands up in surrender. “I’m just telling the truth. We’ve painted you out to be some war hero or something--”
“Hardly.”
“--And you’re definitely not--”
“We don’t know that.”
“But fear not,” Bokuto grins, sending him a thumbs up, “my plan will work.”
And honestly, Kuroo figured it was too late to back out now.
-
“And then he pulled a itty-bitty-kitty from burning in a house--”
“Tetsuro?”
All falls silent as you speak, and Kuroo, wincing, turns to look at you. “Yes?”
Smile never faltering, you tilt your head to the side; “can I speak to you for a minute?”
“Um,” hating the way his chest tightens and everything seems to close in on him, Kuroo forces himself to respond. “O-Of course,” he nods, moving to walk in step with you but not without sending a pointed, somewhat panicked look back at Bokuto who seems plainly oblivious to the fact that they’ve been caught in their lie as he sends him a grin and a thumbs up.
This was so not good.
You don’t stop until the two of you are out of the gym, in the cool night air, away from any prying eyes or ears to listen in on the conversation. Kuroo finds himself uncharacteristically nervous and he almost feels like he’s going to vomit as he prepares himself for your lecture.
You’d have every right, and that’s something he can’t argue against, and he curses himself because he knew he shouldn’t have let Bokuto continue spouting these absurd stories that were so clearly meant to brag and--
“You know you don’t have to make up absurd stories to get my attention right?”
And Kuroo blinks but you seem so entirely not angry that he’s stunned silent.
“I mean, I’ll admit I believed them at first,” you laugh lightly, and the sound of it is so soothing to Kuroo. “But honestly, there’s no need to try and get my attention because... because--” and then you falter, and Kuroo blinks as he notices your gaze lower and your cheeks warm, as if you’re embarrassed--
“I already notice you. Just the way you are.”
Did he... did he hear that correctly?
Was that... was that meant to be a confession?
You’d just confessed to him, and Kuroo’s so completely in his own head with disbelief that he doesn’t realize with each passing moment you’re growing more and more unsure.
“Unless,” you squeak, causing Kuroo to blink down at you. “Unless I misread the situation and you weren’t trying to get my attention. Which if that’s the case, i’m so--”
But you never finish because in the next second Kuroo’s lips are pressed firmly against your own and his arms are slipping around your waist, pulling you flush against him he pours his absolutely everything into that kiss like he’s being dying to do since you walk through those gym doors three years ago.
“Yes, operation get-Y/N-to-notice-Kuroo a success!”
“What an original name...”
“Were you watching us?”
“Bokuto!”

Tumblr media
↳ lee haechan x gender nuetral!reader
synopsis: having a turtoring session with fratboy!hyuck that you were bribed into turned into a cuddle session, but he definitely didn’t mind at all
genre: fluffff
word count: 2,123
Tumblr media
you rubbed your head in frustration as the memory kept replaying in your head, making you regret your past decision. earlier in the day, lee donghyuck was practically begging you to tutor him for his upcoming exam. you were so set on saying ‘no’ because you very much disliked the guy but he began to wave fifty dollars in your face. and you, a broke college student, completely forgot about all the unfavorable feelings towards the boy and gave in.
but as hours passed by, you began to reconsider if spending time with donghyuck was worth fifty dollars. maybe if it were doubled then you wouldn’t be second-guessing your past decision. you looked at your phone to check the time, just to see if it was too late to back out now. and unfortunately for you, it was.
you let out a loud groan in the middle of the student café lounge area that you and your best friend, renjun, were relaxing in. “nice to see you doing well, y/n.” renjun took a pause from drawing on his sketchbook and looked up smiling mockingly at you to which you didn’t respond to in any way shape or form. the smile dropped and a wave of annoyance took over his facial expressions. “okay, what is it. are you hungry? you should’ve just aske-”
“i’m not always hungry.” you rolled your eyes at him and lowered yourself in your seat. “it’s donghyuck-”
“oh god. then whatever it is, that obnoxiously loud groan was valid.” he groaned with you. renjun never had a good impression on donghyuck because he didn’t brake his car for renjun when he was trying to walk across the pedestrian crosswalk, and donghyuck never said sorry nor look apologetic. instead, he just gave renjun trauma. he’s the reason why renjun always wait ten seconds minimum before crossing the street. although it gets annoying, his lost face before crossing reminds you of a cute kitten which makes up for the long wait. “what did he do this time?”
“he’s paying me to tutor him at his frat.” his face was evident in disgust and empathy. “i’m regretting saying yes because i’m too exhausted to deal with him.” you whined and put your face in your hands, rubbing it harshly in an attempt to wake yourself up.
“y/n, you are so strong.” he grabbed your hand away from your face and rubbed your hand awkwardly as he looked at you with apologetic eyes. “no but seriously, text me when he starts acting up. i’ll have jaemin with me for backup because i mean.” he lifted up his arms and tried to flex his arm muscles. key word: tried. “you know.”
you let out a chuckle, closed your eyes, and let your head fall back. “i’ll definitely be live texting you whenever he says and does something stupid.”
“so basically, what you’re saying is that you’ll be texting me every second. might as well have me on facetime.”
you looked back at your best friend who was showing a toothy grin. “basically.” you checked your phone again and saw that if you didn’t leave now then you’d be late to the session. “fuck, i gotta get going. please wish me luck.” you lazily got up, got your bag and stood still in front of renjun with a face that was screaming ‘help me.’
“c’mon at least you’re getting paid, right?”
“you’re right, i need to stop being such a child.” you sighed and tried to erase every negative thought and feeling inside of you.
“kick his ass if he acts up though.” he raised an eyebrow at you.
you scoffed, “of course of course.” you sighed once again and pet renjun’s hair as you walked emotionless out of the student café and made your way to the bus stop.
donghyuck’s fraternity was only a couple blocks away and it honestly wouldn’t take long to walk there but you were too tired to even try.
the commute was quick but you wish it wasn’t. there you were, standing outside the door of regret. the outside was fairly clean but you knew that the inside would be a completely different story. you knocked a few times on the white door before a smiling donghyuck greeted you. “oh wow, you actually came.”
you fought back the urge to roll your eyes. “you’re welcome.” you both stood there awkwardly while he stared you down and you tried avoiding eye contact.
“oh sorry, come in.” he turned his body to make way for yours to enter his place. “i made sure we’re alone because it’s usually loud when the others are here. they’ll be back in a couple hours, though.” he scratched his neck and yawned while you examined the place. you were right, the inside was messy but to your surprise, it wasn’t too bad.
“yeah sounds good. it shouldn’t take too long” you turned to face him and gawked at his appearance. okay there’s no denying donghyuck is pretty decent looking, but he looks extra good today. he stood there awkwardly with his hands rested in the pockets of his oversized black jacket. his hair was slightly ruffled up, you can tell he just woke up from a nap. “you really thought i’d flake on you?” you raised an eyebrow.
his eyes wondered your facial features and marks. “i mean, you kinda hate me so.”
“i don’t hate you.” you corrected him. you may have a strong disfavor of him but you don’t hate him.
he smirked, his body seemed to relax a lot more. “then, let’s get started.” he walked past me and lead the way up the spiral staircase and into his room, which was surprisingly clean and well decorated with a tidy computer gaming set at the corner.
you set your bag right by the bed which you sat on. “so specifically, what are you struggling on?” you asked him looking at his figure that was leaned against his dresser a couple feet across from you.
“uh everything?” he let out a shy laugh and crossed his arms in front of him.
you decided not to scold him for always partying because truth is, you don’t know anything that’s going on in his life so you swallowed the upcoming insults that were climbing up your throat. “oh, well, we should get started asap then so we don’t finish too late.” you cleared your throat.
his eyes widened in surprise like he was expecting your usual witty remarks that he secretly loved, but you weren’t aware of his fondness for your attitude. “yeah for sure, let me get my stuff.” he hurriedly gathered his materials and set them on the bed next to me since he didn’t have a desk in his room. well, he did have his computer desk but there was definitely no room for books there.
he climbed on the bed and rested on his stomach and flipped the pages of the textbook, trying to find the first section he needed assistance on.
you kicked off your shoes and laid down next to him, but keeping your distance from him. he smirked slightly while still keeping his focus on the page. “you can scoot closer so you can see the book clearer.” he looked at you with innocent eyes.
in instinct, you rolled your eyes and scooted a bit closer to him. close enough to smell his cologne and close enough to see his moles randomly placed on his face and neck clearly. you took your attention away from his face when he suddenly made eye contact with you, catching you off-guard.
his warm, soft bedsheets did no help in keeping you awake. you tried to focus on the words he was spitting out but every word entered one ear and went out the other as your eyelids began to feel heavier, and your vision slowly began to black out.
“dude what the fuck happened?” an unfamiliar whisper woke you up from your sleep but you ignored it, just trying to go back to your dreamland.
until you felt something absurd, someone’s warm embrace wrapped around you, your head was now resting on a pillow and an arm, and your cheek was rubbing against a wet patch of what you assumed was your drool on a white t-shirt fabric. “bro shut the fuck up, you’re gonna wake y/n up.” now, that was a familiar whisper to you. your heartbeat raced faster and faster as you made the conclusion that you were cuddling with the lee donghyuck. you internally groaned knowing that renjun will never shut up about this once you tell him. this will be his winning comeback for your future arguments. i mean, you could not tell him but what kind of best friend would you be if you didn’t inform him of the time you magically started cuddling with a man you disliked—but still enjoyed it.
“you better tell me everything later.” the whisper was a lot harsher than the first one, then silence followed after the unknown boy closed the door. you assumed he was gone but you waited to lift your head up to make it not obvious that you were awake to listen to their conversation.
“i know you’re awake.” donghyuck laughed above you, his chest rumbled against your cheek. “you stopped snoring a while ago.”
you groaned in annoyance and also in embarrassment. you slowly lifted your head up to look up at him and you were not ready to see the sight of him looking down at you with a soft smile and even messier hair, causing your heart to skip a beat. both your arms were still wrapped around each other, leaving no space between you both. “what the fuck.” you blurted out, not knowing what else to say.
donghyuck’s tired smile widened. “i should be the one asking you that. sweetheart, you’re the one who cuddled up to me first.” he enjoyed watching your face flush red in embarrassment, anger, and also by the way he looked at you so attentively. “you know, its quite rude.” he tightened his grip around you. “i’m supposed to be paying for a tutoring lesson.” he pursed his lips and furrowed his eyebrows, not breaking eye contact with you.
you remained looking at him with shaky eyes, not believing the situation you were in. your mouth opened, then it closed, then it opened to say something but donghyuck cut you off. “but this is so much better, my money well spent.” he sighed contently and closed his eyes, rubbing his cheek against the top of your head.
you could’ve protested or done anything to get out of his grip but your body stayed the way it is. “i didn’t even get to teach you one lesson, i’m sorry.” you were sincere with your apology, you wasted his time and now he’s probably gonna fail his exam if you two keep cuddling.
“i don’t care about that. i prefer this much more.” his eyes were still closed. you continued to admire his face and tried to memorize every single detail and placement of each mark. “hmmm, why don’t you take a picture?” he hummed, still keeping his eyes closed.
your hands made their way up his ear and pinched it. he let out a whine and finally opened his eyes which immediately landed directly on yours. “quit it.” you warned him.
“as you wish, darling.” his voice became lower and it almost sounded like a whisper. a soft smirk appeared on his face and his eyes were sparkling under the moonlight that shined through his window. “i love talking to you but i think i finally found something i love even more—sleeping with you.”
you opened your mouth to say something but his finger pressed against your lips to keep you quiet. he shushes you softly while he shuffled slightly to find a comfortable position, still keeping his embrace secure around you and his eyelids began to slowly drop. you admired his face once more before closing your eyes as well.
the question you asked yourself earlier today lingered in your mind before drifting off to your sleep again. is spending time with donghyuck worth fifty dollars? considering how warm he felt against you, and how you loved to hear his breathing and soft snores above you, and how perfect your body naturally molded into his embrace. you could finally answer the question confidently, yes.

There were a lot of things about Jungkook that you didn’t learn until you were official. Like the fact he rarely matches his socks unless they’re cool socks. Or that he prefers his pancakes pre-drizzled with syrup. Not necessarily bad things, just aspects the general public wouldn’t normally see. In fact, the worst “trait” you’ve learned about Jungkook in the past year is how easily distracted he can get. Nothing crazy, just tiny actions, like forgetting to eat for three hours because he refuses to leave his Wii until he can beat the guys in three rounds of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in the Mushroom Kingdom stage. Strangely specific, but it’s Jungkook and you’ve long since learned he’s an enigma.
Times like now, when you creep up behind him as he continues screeching into his headset, voice cracking every now and then in that adorable way it does when he’s overwhelmed. You are no stranger to Jungkook’s apartment, having visited more times than you can count, and even dropping by and doing a little dusting while he was on tour. However, you’re surprised you can see the back of his coconut hair from the low backing of his new computer chair. He’d told you he recently threw away his big leather, super villain gaming chair because it’d started to tear, but it was a fact you hadn’t really paid much attention to.
Now, however, you’re feeling a little happy he did, because it means you can slide your palms around his shoulders in somewhat of a back hug. It’s way better than having to walk all the way in front of him, and you bite down on a grin when he mutters the softest “hi, baby.”
“Which stage are we battling on today?” You murmur, pinching the tip of his mic to twist it away. Faintly, you can hear Taehyung’s voice shout a greeting your way.
Another button smash of his remote, hands enveloping the tiny device. “Wii Fit Studio with Wario,” he replies, eyes flickering across the screen like his life depends on it. You snort.
“I thought you hated Wario,” you point out, and move with him when he jumps after being shot off the screen.
He looks at you for the first time as he waits for his character to respawn. “Changed my mind. He’s just misunderstood. Listen to my theory, babe,” he starts, and you let go of him because you have the back of a ninety year old war veteran and can only hunch over for so long. You take up a very bodyguard-esque position behind him, watching him play and gently pressing your thumbs into his shoulders. “Imagine this. You’re a kid trying to have fun and this other kid who looks exactly like you but better is somehow also cooler than you.”
You hum, letting go of his shoulders to toy with his hair. You pull it into a makeshift ponytail and giggle, not that Jungkook minds, too immersed in his game and his sudden loving Wario speech to care. “Then, you get older and this same dude is still getting all the credit for being exactly like you. On top of that, his little brother is doing the same to your little brother! I’d be so pissed.”
You let his hair drop, and then quickly brush the strands away from his face when he whines. “Uh huh. But theoretically speaking, aren’t you the Mario of your little universe?” Jungkook is silent. “If we’re going by your little story, I hardly doubt there’s another Jeon doing better than you,” you point out.
Jungkook’s Wario gets blown off the screen for the last time, and he’s left blankly staring at the screen. You poke his neck. “I don’t wish to discuss this further,” he says rather matter of factly. You laugh, shaking him and his seat. “Baby, why would you say that!” He cries.
You smile, flicking the switch on his headset before pushing it off his head. Jungkook moans again, head lolling back to glare up at you. “I finally come to terms with the fact that Mario is the true asshole, just to find out I’m Mario? Fucking absurd.”
You roll your eyes at his dramatics, fingers dancing down the stretched column of his neck. “Listen, no one told you to go out and create an entire deep backstory for the Mario Cinematic Universe.”
He scoffs, eyes fluttering shut as he continues basking in your soft caresses. “The MCU,” he chuckles under his breath. On screen, Taehyung is still fighting with whoever else they were playing with tonight, a little Isabelle and Dark Samus dancing across the screen.
Meanwhile, you’re still absentmindedly running your fingertips along Jungkook’s skin. For a second, you think he’s asleep by the deepening of his breaths, his body so soft and relaxed beneath your touch, but then he gets one of those weird twitches of his, and pushes his head between your breasts.
“Ah,” he sighs, eyes still shut. “Soft.”
“No shit,” you say, “you’re deep between my boobs.”
The little shit snuggles closer at your words. “My favorite place in the world,” he croons, and you pinch his neck for his stupidity. “Tell me when they’re done,” he mumbles, sounding as if he’s actually gonna fall asleep.
You relent, continuing your gentle massaging of the muscles in his neck as you tune into the match on screen. You’re not exactly sure which one Taehyung is, but your gut tells you he’s probably playing as Isabelle, so you root for her. You’re weirdly into it, jumping every time a good spar happens.
By the time the match ends (literally only like 4 minutes later) and you check on your boyfriend, he’s snuggled his way between the valley of your breasts, his cute nose poking out from between. “Oh my god,” you sigh, having to take a momentary pause to collect yourself from the sight.
Jungkook giggles.
“Well. Taehyung’s done,” you inform him, and he hums though he doesn’t really seem to care about Smash anymore. His hands go slack around his remote, crawling up to dwarf yours.
He sighs, sounding so happy with himself. “Baby, you’re so soft,” he hums, and you try desperately, and you mean desperately, to ignore the sudden drop of his voice, his hands ever so gently tangling with yours.
You try to hit him with the facts, because you know where this will go if you don’t. “Well, breasts are made up of mostly fatty tissue, and lobes for producing milk,” you inform him.
Contrary to your goal, the handsome smile that envelopes his face has you fighting down the curl in your stomach. You can never win.
“You know I love when you talk anatomical to me,” he purrs, and it takes everything in you to not punch him straight in those pearly whites.
You don’t have enough time to respond, too caught up in a mental pep talk to re-evaluate what your body considered attractive. Jungkook’s corny jokes should definitely not be high on the list, but your rock hard nipples said otherwise. “So, you gonna let me suck on them or what?”
“I hate you,” you groan, reaching over to completely unplug Jungkook’s headset because you were absolutely terrified of creating an accidental porno with your celebrity boyfriend.
Jungkook chuckles. “No you don’t,” he teased, finally wiggling his way away from you to whirl his seat around. “Could feel your nip nops pressing into my forehead. No bra today? She’s bold.”
“She’s bold and embarrassed that her boyfriend calls them nip nops,” you sigh, climbing into his lap. His remote presses hard against your thigh, and you yelp before he tugs it out and throws it on the desk behind him. Vaguely, you register the screen lighting up behind Jungkook, but then he’s nudging your shirt upwards.
He’s barely brushed his hands against you, but you’re already shivering and squirming in his lap. “Relax for me, baby,” he assures you, a new depth slowly creeping around his words. “Gonna take care of you, alright?”
You nod, breath already caught in your throat just from the way he looks at you. He flashes you another smile, bunny teeth slightly pressed against his lower lip, before he’s pushing your shirt above your chest, and marveling at your boobs.
You don’t miss the way his gaze becomes glossy, eyes hyper focused on the rise and fall of your chest. Just as you’re about to urge him to do something, he’s reaching up to brush his thumb around your nipple. “Oh,” you blurt out, the skin around your nipple rising with goosebumps.
Jungkook lets out a soft huff of air at your reaction. “So sensitive. Bet I could make you come just by touching your tits, baby.”
You scoff, choking back another sound when he does the same to the other nipple. “I wanna say I doubt it, but I feel like you’ll prove me wrong,” you retort.
At this, Jungkook smirks. “Oh, so now it’s an expectation?” He smiles, and it’s the last angelic side of him you see before he’s ducking down and latching his supple lips around your breast.
Immediately, your back arches forward, hands scrambling to grip onto his shoulders as he licks across your breast. “J-Jeon, wait—“ you cry, body shaking at the way his tongue dances around your nipple.
Your hands tangle themselves in his hair, tugging and twisting it as he flicks his tongue back and forth, knocking it against the hard pebble. You moan, and almost choke when he pulls away with a lewd pop.
His lips are glossy from his own saliva, red from the friction. He’s looking at your glistening breast like a starved man, thumb returning to glide over his own messy artwork. “So pretty,” he hums, Puckering his lips to blow a soft tuft of air against it. You shiver. “Aren’t you the softest little thing,” he says, one hand falling to your waist and gently easing you closer to his crotch. His sweatpants do nothing to conceal how he’s feeling.
You hate to admit how your insides had turned into a Fruit Gusher the second he started sucking on your boob, and now that you think of, you'd be absolutely embarrassed if you did come from just this.
As if sensing your inner turmoil, Jungkook meets your gaze. “I fucking knew it,” he says, slightly out of breath. You furrow your eyebrows, to which he pointedly raises his and gestures to his crotch. “You started pressing down so hard on me the second I got my mouth on you,” he brags, and as if to punctuate his statement, grinds his hips upward into you. “Did sucking your titty make you that wet, doll?”
Your cheeks flush at his words. Belatedly, you nod, your eyes falling to his lips that quirk up into a smile. “Oh, you’re just so desperate to be touched, aren’t you?” He continues, and then reaches up to pinch your nipple between two rough fingers.
You gasp, body arching into him. The pain is new, but definitely welcomed. “Yes,” you cry out, hand reaching out to grapple around his wrist. Though you try to tug it away, it feels disgustingly good and you know he knows, which is why he gives it a slight tug.
Finally, when he lets go of you, he doesn’t hesitate to lower himself down by your other, ignored breast. “I wanna see you cream your shorts, okay? So I’m gonna suck your other titty until you’re near tears, baby,” he states, before giving you a soft push of his hips.
“Please, be gentle,” you choke out, words stuck the moment he wraps his lips around you. This time, he’s ruthless with his tongue. He traces it all over, tonguing your nipple like a lollipop. It feels nice, the wet caress, that you don’t see that bite coming at all. You moan, body unconsciously pushing away from him in surprise.
“Nuh uh,” Jungkook tuts, strong arms wrapping around your lower back to bring you back into his embraces. This closer position has your core pressing down directly over his dick, and the sudden double stimulation has your vision momentarily going white. “Gonna give you a pretty little bite right under your tit, doll,” he announces, and in a scary act of trust, presses his fingers into your spine until you’re staring at the ceiling, the only thing supporting you his strong arms. He nudged your breast with his nose until he finds the perfect spot to place his impromptu hickey.
It’s right against the bottom curve, where your skin folds over, that he settles on. “Need you to to sit nice and still for me. You can do that, right baby?” Jungkook says, big doe eyes looking up at you. You nod your head quickly.
His teeth are cold, unlike the rest of his mouth. “Jungkook!” You moan, toes curling and thighs attempting to clamp shit. They hit the outside of the chair instead, slightly squeezing around his thin waist. “You’re s-so good to me,” you wail, pushing down into his covered cock for friction.
As much as you wanted to act like this wouldn’t affect you, your body is no liar. Fingers tangled in his long curls, you find yourself gently rutting against him. Much to your surprise, this makes him break away, a thin bridge of saliva connecting his mouth to your chest. You mourn when it finally breaks.
“Told you to stay still, doll,” Jungkook warns, one set of long fingers sprawling on the small of your back as the other reaches up. “You had all the time in the world to work yourself on me, but you wanna choose now?” He gently reprimands you, twisting your nipple between two pinched fingers. You mewl. “Promise you’ll be good?”
“I can’t,” you whine, desperation seeping into your voice as your traitorous hips jolt forward again. You nearly fall onto him when a particular nudge of his cock over your core feels just right. “Want your cock so bad,” you wail, throwing all hesitation out the window as you begin full on humping yourself against his crotch.
Jungkook sighs, trying to act annoyed with you but the twitch of his cock beneath you cannot lie. “Well I’m not done having fun with you,” he says, though the way his words are tinged with complaints, you can tell he’s trying hard not to pout. Nonetheless, he latches his mouth around your breast again, and you nearly faint when he rolls your nipple between his teeth.
“Jeon,” you cry, looking down with probably the world’s worst quadruple chin only to catch him absolutely savoring your titty. He’s got his eyes closed, pink tongue licking across every inch he can get. His arms are wrapped around the smallest part of your waist like he can’t possibly fathom letting you go. When he moans, a whole new found wetness coats your walls. You choke on a sob, “I-I love you, Jungkook.”
You can feel a smirk pressed around your breast. It’s this moment when Jungkook finally gives up on his little quest to tame you, hips bucking up to meet your offbeat grinds against him. He pulls off your breast with another wet pop, though he’s slightly lower than you from how consumed he was when sucking you tits. He has to make a little effort to stretch his neck up to look at you, and even then it’s over the top of his nose that he gazes at you.
His lips pucker slightly, and the next time you grind down onto him has them brushing against your lower lip. “That’s it,” he croons, admiring the different expressions that contort your face as you become closer and closer to your orgasm. “Come all over your pretty panties for me, baby,” he encourages, sucking your lower lip between his.
His mouth had been so dangerous to you today, licking and sucking in all the right spots, but nothing has ever felt as right as having it on yours. “I-I’m sorry,” you whimper, fingers knitting themselves in his hair.
“Don’t be,” he comforts, gripping your hips and swiveling you in a circular motion. “Next time you’ll do better, won’t you?”
You nod, head bouncing like a bobble head. He smiles, pressing a soft kiss to the corner of your mouth. Your thighs twitch. “I was gone for so long,” he rambles, hips picking up their pace the second he hears your breath hitch in your throat. “Didn’t think you’d become so sensitive and needy.”
A faint smile passes through your lips, and your toes curl and your belly tightens in that delicious way it does right before orgasm. Another grind against Jungkook, and he sighs “I love you,” as you cream your pants like a dweeby high schooler being touched for the first time.
Jungkook’s gentle movements halt the moment he sees that orgasmic face overtake you, pressing soft smooches all over the bottom half of your face, peppering your lips with them, until your fingers finally loosen in his hair.
“Fuck, I’m embarrassed,” you huff out, feeling gross and sticky in all the worst spots. Jungkook chuckles, and you can still feel his hard cock nudging the insides of your thighs.
“Nah,” he says. “It’ll make it easier for me to slide in.”
Even in your post orgasmic state, his words have a brand new coil of heat revving up. God, you were whipped for him. “Bed?” You ask, and he nods as you clamber off his lap, tugging down your shirt.
Immediately, he whirls around and catches sight of his abandon Smash game. “Huh.” He says, and you already feel the distraction staple itself into his mind. “Have you ever noticed how Dark Pit—“
You cut him off, gliding your hands around his neck and slowly craning it back until you can give him a tiny Spider-Man kiss. “If you make me cum a second time I promise I’ll listen to whatever theory you have about him,” you purr, punctuating your words with a tiny smooch.
The screen is off in record time.

Mike Zacharias was, all things considered, a good guy.
Levi wouldn’t have gone so far as to call him a friend, they only had a couple of classes together, but they both were a part of a football team.
And on the field, there was no better partner than Mike. He was honest and reliable. And when they played on the opposite sides, there was no tougher or stronger opponent for Levi than him. He always offered a good challenge. Levi liked that, respected that.
So all in all, Mike was a cool, even awesome guy, Levi didn’t have a single problem with him, except his best friend.
Hange fucking Zoe.
One of the most prominent and intelligent students at their school. The weirdest student of their school.
She was loud, messy and batshit crazy. Among other students, she wasn’t known for her exceptional intellect or her unusual friendliness. Instead, she was known for causing an explosion at the school’s lab not once, not twice, but three whole times! The only reason why she wasn’t kicked out of the school was her perfect grades. Or her parents’ huge wealth.
When she wasn’t hanging out with her ‘research team’ as she affectionately called those fools, who followed her around, she was spending her time with Mike. She was with him almost always, including the football practice.
And maybe, Levi wouldn’t have any problem with her, or Mike, if Hange wasn’t loudly cheering on Mike every goddamn time she accompanied him to the practices.
And, yeah, sure, what was wrong with cheering on a friend? But it pissed Levi off, especially because maybe, kind of, he had a tiny, little, miniscule crush on Hange.
He didn’t like her, of course. He didn’t. He just liked staring at her and listening to her. She also smelled surprisingly nice and had very soft hands. Not that Levi had ever held hands with her. He just touched them once, and now he wanted to touch them again.
They didn’t hang out together and, of course, they weren’t friends. They had only one class together, and that was biology. Biology, where Levi’s traitors of friends decided to fucking dump him.
“You need to be more friendly,” Farlan, that asshole smirked at him, after he had told him that he and Isabel were going to pair up together for the science project.
Stupid jerk, if his advice was so fucking sound, why didn’t he follow it himself? Still, there was nothing left for Levi to do than to seek out a different partner for himself. His eyes darted to Erwin, they weren’t exactly friends, not as close as he was with Farlan and Isabel, but they talked sometimes. He liked Erwin, but apparently his opinion of him was wrong, because when Levi turned around - Erwin was already paired with the biggest shitass in their school - Nile Dawk.
And, unfortunately, apart from Erwin, there was no one else Levi was on good terms with. Maybe, there was some truth to that fucker’s words. He really didn’t have a lot of friends.
Help came from an unexpected quarter.
Hange Zoe, the school’s prodigy, stood next to him, smiling sheepishly.
“Do you need a partner?” she asked.
And it wasn’t like Levi could refuse. He did need a partner. And, as he learned later, Hange Zoe turned out to be an amazing one.
She was smart, but also hardworking and very passionate. She was also unusually, but genuinely nice. She wasn’t even a bit arrogant, and whenever Levi didn’t get something, she always explained it to him patiently.
(Sometimes, even though he would rather die than admit it out loud, he played dumb on purpose, just so he could listen to her excited voice and look into her burning eyes, as she explained to him some stupid shit like meiosis).
So, yeah, she was kind and really fucking funny. And, maybe, one could call her pretty, if that one was into messy-haired four-eyed weirdos. (Unfortunately, Levi was). And, yeah, maybe, he liked it, maybe, he liked her. It meant nothing though. Hange probably didn’t even know his name and paired up with him only out of the kindness of her pure fucking heart.
Levi shouldn’t even think about her. He also shouldn’t stare at her during lunches like he’s some kind of a pervert. And, especially, he shouldn’t become angry every time he hears “Go, Mike, you’re the best!”
She was just trying to lift her best friend’s spirits, Farlan and Isabel did it all the time.
Still, it pissed him off, it hurt his pride, it made him fucking jealous.
He hated it. But, unfortunately, he couldn’t hate her.
 ***
His leg was kicked. Levi ignored it. His leg was kicked again. Again, Levi ignored.
“You’re staring at her again,” the words were followed by another kick.
Levi grunted, turning to face Farlan. “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” he said, using his most disinterested voice.
“Huh?” Isabel twisted her head around, looking at the mass of students, gathered in the cafeteria. “Who was big bro staring at?”
“No one,” Levi answered, while at the same time Farlan pointed Isabel to the right person.
“Ooh,” she cooed, grinning wickedly. “You’ve been staring at the weird Zoe girl!”
“Now, now,” Farlan chucked, patting Isabel’s head. “You shouldn’t talk about her like that. She may be a weirdo, but she’s also Levi’s sweetheart.”
“I swear to god, Farlan, if you don’t shut up, I’ll fucking punch you!”
Levi’s anger intensified, as he saw the shit-eating grin on his friend’s face. It was an empty threat and Farlan knew it perfectly.
“Oh no!” Isabel squealed, frantically pulling on Levi’s hand. “She’s coming here!”
“Oh yes, she totally does!” Farlan agreed. “Come on, Izzy, we should give them some privacy.”
And before Levi could throw another insult his way or beg them not to leave him alone, Farlan grabbed Isabel’s hand and dragged her away.
Fucking traitors.
Levi looked up - Hange was actually heading to his table. Shit. What did she want? What should he do?
She probably wanted to discuss the science project, the rational part of Levi’s mind kept insisting. But his heart didn’t listen, continuing to beat erratically inside his chest.
Shit, he needed to get a grip on himself. Hange was just a girl, a nerdy weirdo. The fuck he got so worried about?
“Hi,” Hange stood in front of him, holding a tray in her hands. “Can I sit down with you?”
“There is a lot of free space here,” Levi grumbled, taking a bite from his sandwich.
He mentally kicked himself. Why was always such an asshole? That’s why he only had two friends. Not that Levi gave two shits about being polite, but, well, he’d like to be Hange’s friend. Or maybe, something more.
“Great!” Hange smiled, as she took a seat across from him. Levi glanced at her beneath his fringe - of course, he shouldn’t have worried. Hange was a weirdo, she was never bothered by his rudeness.
“I just wanted to talk with you. I… well, you know about school dance this Friday? Oh, sorry!” Hange chuckled. “Of course, you know about it! That’s the only thing everyone talks about!”
Well… Levi certainly heard about school dance. Isabel mentioned it a few times, but neither of his friends was planning on going there. And there wasn’t any reason for Levi to attend. He would rather spend his Friday at home, playing video games with Farlan and Isabel.
“Anyways!” Hange continued. “Have you asked someone already?”
That took Levi by surprise. The question was so absurd that he looked at Hange closely - was she joking? But, strangely, she seemed to be serious. And she appeared to be somewhat nervous, which was even weirder. In all the time that he knew her, Hange was never nervous or shy. She was always unapologeticly bold. That was one of the reasons Levi liked her so.
So what was wrong now?
“Um, no?” Levi answered, feeling uneasy. For some strange reason, his pulse fastened.
“Oh, then have someone asked you?”
Levi eyed her carefully. Hange was fiddling with the straw of the juice box and she avoided looking him in the eyes. So she was nervous! But why? Levi glanced behind Hange’s shoulder. Mike was sitting on a table near them. He was grinning happily, and when Levi met his eyes - Mike winked at him.
What the fuck was going on?
He focused on Hange again. “No, no one asked me.”
Well, technically, it wasn’t true - a surprisingly large amount of girls had asked Levi to accompany them to the school dance. Levi had rejected them all. Unfortunately, the only person he wanted to go with was right now sitting in front of him.
“Great!” Hange beamed. “Oh, wait, no, that’s not what I meant!” she frantically waved her hands around. Levi hid a smile, amused by her gesticulations. “I’m sorry that no one asked you yet, but maybe…” she trailed off, turning to look behind her. Levi followed her gaze and saw that Mike gave her an encouraging smile, showing thumbs-up. She turned back and cleared his throat. She still avoided looking him in the eyes and there was a bright blush on her cheeks. “Maybe, you would like to go with me?”
Aaaaaaand he definitely misheard her last sentence. And even if he hadn’t, he probably didn’t understand it in the right way. Maybe, Hange was taking pity on him again? Just like that time, when she offered to become his partner in a science project?
“You want… to go dancing?”
“That was my initial offer, yes, but we can just hang out…” Hange twirled a stray lock of her hair, smiling shyly.
“You want to hang out…” Levi paused, not quite processing her words. Hange just couldn’t mean what he thought she meant. “With me?”
“Yeah…” Hange lowered her head, her shoulders sagging. “I thought you knew about this?”
He knew about what?
“…I mean the whole school probably knows, I’m not exactly subtle…”
The whole school knows about what?
“I was sure you knew about my crush on you…”
Wait, what? What the fuck? Hange liked him?
“You…. Have a crush on me?”
“Well, yeah?”
“Since when?”
“Um,” Hange rubbed her neck, her blush becoming even more apparent. “For about a year?”
“A year?!”
“I know it sounds pathetic, but yes? You don’t know how happy I was when you agreed to become my partner… Oh, jeez, this is so embarrassing,” Hange chuckled, and even in his daze-like state Levi felt how forced her laughter sounded. “You’re clearly not interested. I knew you weren’t, but that jerk Mike made me confess to you… I’m sorry!” she straightened out, grabbing her tray with food. She held it so tightly, her knuckles were white.
Levi stared at her hands, unblinking. He suddenly remembered that time in biology class when they were studying DNA. They needed to extract DNA from spinach, and upon seeing Levi’s clumsy movements with mortar and pestle Hange decided to help him. She laid her hands atop of his and gently guided them, showing him how to do it correctly. Her skin was soft and so warm. Levi was so flustered he felt like his heart was going to jump out of the ribcage.
And why was he remembering it now?
“Well, I should go, I don’t want to burden you…”
Hange almost got to her feet and left, but before she could do so, Levi grabbed her by the wrist.
“Wait!” He called out, surprised at how hoarse and desperate his voice was. But he couldn’t help it, he still couldn’t believe that Hange’s confession was real.
“You like me back?” he uttered quietly, looking up at Hange with hope.
“Ye— Wait!” Hange shrieked. Everyone around the cafeteria turned to look at them. If Levi could pay attention to something else except Hange’s adorably bewildered face, he’d even hear Isabel and Farlan high-fiving each other in the background.
Thankfully for his best friends though, he had a more pressing issue now.
“You like me back?” Hange didn’t lower her voice, and now every student in their school knew about Levi’s feelings for her.
His reputation of cold and aloof guy was destroyed forever.
He didn’t give a fuck.
“I do.”
His hand traveled down her arm, until it ceased her palm and held it in his.
At the sight of their joined hands, Hange’s lips curved into a bright smile.
“So you agree to go dancing with me?”
Levi shrugged, intertwining their fingers. “We can do that.”
“Great!” it seemed impossible, but the smile on Hange’s face became even happier.
Levi stared at her, feeling the same happiness inside him. Their bliss was cruelly interrupted by a loud ring that announced the start of a lesson.
“Shit, I’m late to English!” Hange shot to her feet. But before she ran away, she turned back to Levi. “Maybe, I can see you after school? We can walk home together?”
“Sounds good,” Levi nodded.
“Excellent!” Hange quickly leaned down and placed a kiss on Levi’s cheek.
Then, she was gone. Levi stared after her retreating figure, feeling a smile appear on his lips.
He probably, no, definitely looked like an idiot.
But for some reason, he didn’t give a fuck.

Just A WingMan
Denki Kaminari and Katsuki Bakugou unknowingly in love with each other. Eijiro Kirishima, Denki’s wing man, also in love with Denki, makes a plan to get Denki’s to like him back, backfires and leaves him heartbroken, and he is the only one he can blame.
This is a one-shot ( Unless I'm encouraged to do more)
TW: None, possible cursing

Kirishima’s POV
Denki had been begging me to help him with his crush for a week and I was reluctant to help because I love him as more than a friend and it will be hard to watch him be in a relationship, especially if I was the one who got the two together. I know it’s not manly but the best I can wish for is that Denki's crush doesn't like him back, then Denki can get over them and fall for me.
I thought I had done a good job avoiding Denki but somehow I ended up in Denkis room listening to him beg for me to be his wingman. I told him that I would help if he told me who it was he liked, I thought that he had too much to prove to tell me but then he shouted.
"I'm in love with Bakugou!"
I thought it was a joke
" Oh you mean Mitsuki Bakugou, Katsuki’s mom?"
" No, I mean Katsuki Bakugou, boom boom boy, the angry Pomeranian. I love Katsuki Bakugou!"
I freeze, it's shocking, Katsuki, the guy who acts like he's above everyone else, the one who calls Denki stupid and dunce face. If I was being honest I was hoping that it was me that Denki had a crush on, it would make sense, he refused to tell me the name of his crush, and he used ‘strong’ to describe them multiple times, and I believe I’m strong. I took the time to process Denkis confession, this wasn't that bad. Like I thought earlier but bakugou is a jerk to Denki and everyone else, there’s no way that he likes Denki back, they would be a terrible couple. All I have to do is agree to be Denkis wingman, tel bakugou, he'll tell me that he doesn’t like Denki back, I tell Denki and he comes to me for comfort, and over time he’ll get over bakugou and fall for me. I’m brilliant
“ I’ll do it, I can do it right now.”
“ Wait really, I mean right now what if he’s busy?“
I watched Denki become more worried and anxious, I mean I would be too if I was going to confess to Katsuki Bakugou
“ It will be fine, and I know his schedule. he should have been done with his workout and shower about 15 minutes ago, and the only thing he does for the rest of the day is eat and sleep, and if something goes wrong, I’ll be there for you.”
“I know it’s just, it’s nerve-racking, and I'm so glad that you’re here for me, you are the best wingman anyone could ask for.”
Denki hugs me and I almost forget my plan, I just want to skip to the part where we are together and these hugs will last forever. He lets go too soon and shoves me toward the door
“ Now go before I stop you.”
He didn’t have to tell me twice, I make my way to Bakugou's dorm, I rehearse how it will go. Knowing Bakugou he'll want me gone as soon as possible, he probably won’t even let me in, I don’t have a problem with that cause the sooner this part is over the sooner Denki will fall for me. I’ve got this, I breathe in and out and then knock on Bakugou's dorm
No One’s POV
It takes a while for Bakugou to get to the door, he was tired from his workout and was currently in a state of self-loathing. He read and watched romance but felt that it would never be something he could have. He wasn’t about to let any of those extras see him like this so he had to collect himself. Opening and leaning on the door he “politely” greets Kirishima
“ What do you want Shittyhair?”
“ Well, it’s actually about Denki.”
Bakugou perks up at the mention of his crush’s name. He knows it’s strange but he couldn’t stop it, as much as he tried, he learned that all those books were right about love, it’s not a choice and it wasn’t easy. Kirishima continues when he notices that Bakugou isn’t gonna talk or anything.
“ He asked me to be his wingman and I agreed but the problem is, there’s no way his crush likes him back.”
Bakugou tsk’s at that statement, he thought it was absurd, a person who doesn’t like Denki. Now that Bakugou knew what this conversation was about, he no longer wanted to be a part of it, well he didn’t have much interest in it beforehand either. He didn’t want to discuss the love life of his crush, if it didn’t involve him, he was also worried about exposing his crush on Denkis, cause he didn’t have great control of his emotions, especially jealousy, which this conversation was bound to make him.
“I don’t care, go tell the fucker about Denki’s love, so then he can get over them.”
“And fall for me’” Both men thought. Kiri moves on to the next step of the plan
“ Ok, um, Denki likes you Bakugou, but I think it’s best if I reject him for you. You can be kind of insensitive when it comes to love.”
This was true, although Kirishima wanted Bakugou to reject Denki, he also didn’t want Denki to feel worse, just cause Bakugou doesn’t know how to politely reject someone. While Kirishima turns to leave, Bakugou grabs his arm, he’s still trying to process what Shittyhair just said.
“Denki like’s me but I’m mean to him? I call him Dunceface, and he likes me?”
Not realizing he said that out loud until Kirishima replies
“ Yeah I think it’s weird too, that’s why I’ll reject him for you!”
“NO, I mean you can’t do that.”
Bakugou pulls Kirishima into his room and shuts the door, even behind the door Bakugou still feels weird admitting his feelings so he pulls Kirishima closer and whispers
“I like Denki back.”
Kirishima’s brain stops working, he pulls away and mumbles out
“ But you’re mean to him, actually you’re a dick to him!”
Kirishima can't deal, this one detail ruins his plans. he starts to feel a break down coming so he sits down on Bakugou's bed
“I was just protecting myself, and I guess I show my affection that way.” Kirishima looked for every excuse he could to make this not true
“ But your’re mean to me, you call me Shittyhair, that means you like me, not Denki!”
Kirishima had fooled himself with his own hypothesis, getting excited that  Bakugou doesn’t like Denki
“ No I like Denki, you just have Shitty hair. I’ve got to go tell Denki, you did a good job, your one manly wingman.”
Bakugou rushed out of the room and to Denki’s room. Leaving Kirishima in his room, Kirishima breaks down, his perfect plan comes crashing down, he would never be with Denki and he wonders why. He imagines himself running to Denki, pushing Bakugou out of the way, grabbing Denki and yelling, begging for an answer.
“Why him? Why not me? Was I too nice? Do you want to be treated like trash? cause I can do that. Was I not manly enough? my quirk to basic for you isn’t it? Is it my hair, the color, the shape, do you agree with Bakugou, do I have shittyhair? Is it my fashion sense? What made you fall for Katsuki Bakugou the guy who calls you stupid every sentence he can? Why couldn’t he be the wingman,  and I be the boy you pinned for, I’m tired of just being the wingman!"
But he didn’t move an inch. He sat in Bakugou room hoping that something would go wrong. It seemed impossible, an hour later and no return, just Kirishima hyperventilating in his crush’s probably boyfriend’s room. Another hour and a text, it was a video, from Denki. He talks in a hushed voice.
" Thanks, bro, I know I said it earlier but this time it was because you actually got me a man, you're the best wingman a guy could ask for. My new boyfriend and I are going to cuddle and wat--"
In the back, Kirishima hears Bakugou yell for Denki.
" Get over here lightning bolt."
Denki moves and soon both blondes are in the frame
" Don't you think the lightning bolt is too long for a cutesy nickname?"
"Tsk Maybe for you."
Bakugou leaned in and kissed Denki, it was short, sweet, a peck of sorts.
" Now put the phone down"
Bakugou hand grows closer and then the video ends and Kirishima now knows that his prayers didn't work. He’s left wishing in Bakugou's room that he was the one cuddling with Denki, he wanted to come up with nicknames, oh and to feel Denki’s lips on his own was something he could only dream of. But he wasn’t Denki’s boyfriend, he was just a wingman, the wingman who set his crush up.
And at that moment he realized that even if he feels for someone else in the future, that no matter who or when his position in a love story was the wingman. He was doomed to be just a wingman.

"Two Truths and a Lie" Haruka & Minako
-
-
-
“Hey bud.” Keeping herself upright with the door frame, Minako greeted Haruka with a smile. “Come in! Come in! Did you bring some vodka?” Haruka stepped in, trying to ignore the strong reek of alcohol coming from Minako. In her hands was a brown paper bag from the liquor store. And even though Haruka wasn’t the most observant, she could still tell Minako’s focus has solely been the bag since Haruka walked in the door.
“Got Fireball instead. It was cheaper.”
Minako smiled and clapped Haruka’s shoulder. “Always so cheap. Or, um, how’d your girlfriend say it?” She was giggling to herself as she shut the door and walked back towards the sofa. Bottles of liquor were fucking everywhere. Some were empty, some half full. Once Minako was on the couch, she finished her thought. She brought her tone up to a mocking imitation of Michiru’s preppy tone. “My dear Haruka, always so economical.” Minako burst out laughing while gesturing Haruka over towards the couch. Haruka obediently listened, walking over to the sofa and sitting next to Minako.
“Why are you always making fun of Michiru?” Haruka asked a bit grumpily, pulling the bottle of Fireball out from the bag. “I never made fun of Rei.”
At the mention of Rei, Minako snatched the bottle from Haruka’s hand. “Why are you being such a whiny bitch about it? It’s just some light teasing.” Minako screwed the cap off the Fireball and took a nice long glup.
“You literally called her a cunt on the phone an hour ago.”
Minako paused in her sip, bringing the bottle down. “So? I was just having fun.”
“She’s important to me, you know.” Haruka stole the bottle back and took a sip. “I wish you’d stop being such a bitch to her.”
“And I wish I was a millionaire, but we all can’t be Miss Michiru Kaioh now, can we?” A thick silence filled the room. Haruka’s grip tightened on the bottle before she set it down entirely.
“Minako, we need to talk-.”
“Oh, Ruka, I’ve got an idea.” Minako cut Haruka off with the wave of a hand. “What if we played two truths and a lie, huh?” The look of absurdity Haruka gave Minako didn’t even affect her. “Come on! It’ll be fun! And it’ll be like we’re in middle school again.”
Haruka sighed and leaned back. “Sure, whatever, let’s play.” It’s not like Mina would let her refuse anyways.
“Great! I’ll go first.” Minako grabbed the bottle of Fireball and took a few leisurely sips while sipping. “Let’s see….”  As Minako thought, her smile became more and more malicious. “The sky is blue. Rei’s a fucking bitch. And Michiru actually loves you.” Haruka glared at Minako for a moment, but it was ineffective. Minako just grinned back, daring Haruka to answer. “Come on pal, what’s the lie?”
“It’s that Rei’s a bitch.”
“Wrong!” Minako shouted. She took a long glup of the Fireball. “Rei’s the biggest fucking bitch I know. I still can’t believe she broke up with me! With me! Of all people! I’m a fucking catch!”
“I mean...you know, sometimes people just have different goals in life.”
Minako scoffed. “Ruka, stop repeating shit you heard from Michiru. She fucking wrong anyways. Rei’s goals were shit. She had shitty ass eyes too. If she couldn’t see what she was missing out on when she broke up with my fine ass.” Pausing in her rant to take another glup of the Fireball, Minako regained her composure. “So, bud, if that’s not the lie, what is?”
Haruka glared at her. “Nothing else you said was a lie.”
“That’s where you’re wrong, bud.” Her words were starting to slur at this point. “Michiru doesn’t actually love you, bro. She fucking couldn’t! Have you seen her? That bitch is all stone cold and icy - a fucking snake. I don’t think she’s said a single true thing in her entire fucking life.”
“That rich coming from your ass. You lie all the time!”
“Yeah, but like, that’s different.” Minako snapped back. “I’m like you, Haruka. We both had to fight to get where we are. I lie outta necessity. But her? She just lies for the fucking fun of it. I bet you she leaves your ass in a few months. All she wanted to do was fuck the hot car mechanic working on daddy’s limo for a while before moving onto the next hot butch that catches her eye.” Minako noticed the tightening of Haruka’s toath, the wetness in her eye, and the thinning of her lips. “Look, Ruka, I’m not saying this to be mean. I’m just saying it ‘cause I want ya to be ready. It’s gonna happen. It’s only a matter of time.”
When after a few moments Haruka didn’t respond, Minako just rolled her eyes and took a few more chugs of the Fireball. On her side of the sofa, Haruka composed herself. She did not want this to devolve into a screaming match - with Minako intentionally trying to get Haruka as mad as possible.
“Can we just move on?” Haruka asked. “I came here for a reason. I need to talk-.”
Minako cut her off. “Talk-smalk. We can do that after you do two truths and a lie.”
Haruka let out a sigh. “Fine, whatever.” She paused to think, her burrows furrowing together. “Um, the sky is green. Rei is dating somebody else. Last weekend I pro-.”
“Hold it!” Minako interjected, smacking Haruka’s knee to get her to stop. “The Rei’s one has to be a lie. There’s no fucking way she’s moved on already. It’s been a month!”
“It’s not a lie.” The scathing glare Minako sent her way made Haruka pause for a moment. “Michiru and I ran into her and this other girl a few days ago. They met in Rei’s self-defense class. She seems nice - the girl - she does judo and stuff. Likes to bake too. Um, yeah. Rei seems really pleased.”
“I’m sure she fucking is.” Minako spat. “I’m sure this new girl is ‘responsible’ and ‘an actual adult’ and whatever fucking bullshit else Rei claimed I wasn’t.” In one last furious glup, Minako finished off the Fireball. “Whatever. Let’s move on. What was the last thing? Last week you what?”
“The sky is green. Rei is dating somebody else. And I… Last weekend I proposed to Michiru.”
A look of sober awareness dawned on Minako’s face. She looked at Haruka slowly, examining her friend up and down. Bringing both hands up to her face, Minako pinched her cheeks, flinching when it hurt.
“I...Ruka, you proposed to Michiru?”
“Yeah.”
“Without telling me?” Genuine hurt was laced through Minako’s voice. Haruka was pretty sure she’d never seen Minako this open before. “I could’ve helped you pick out a ring. Or helped you plan out the proposal. Or talked you out of marrying such a rich asshole!” The hurt from Minako’s tone was gone and replaced with anger.
“This is why I didn’t tell you! ‘Cause you’d try to talk me out of it!”
“Of course I would! Marrying Michiru is gonna be the biggest mistake of your life.” Minako’s standing now. Wobbling on her feet, Minako struggles to stay upright as she yells at Haruka. “In a few years you’ll be telling me ‘I told you so’. That bitch has nothing good to offer you - except her tits and her money.”  Haruka looks ready to yell right back, but she stops herself. She takes a slow, deep breath in.
“Minako. This behavior of yours is why I wanted to talk. Our friendship is-.”
Minako snorted. “Listen to you! You sound just like that bitch. Are you just repeating what she told you to say? That bitch never liked me. Not from day one. She’s been messing with you Ruka. Makin’ you forget who’s helped you and been a friend for you all these years.”
“No!” Haruka snapped back. All attempts at diplomacy were gone as Haruka stood to her full height. She loomed over Minako, who just craned her head back to glare at Haruka. “She’s shown me that I don’t have to keep letting you drag me down into your pit of hell. She made me realize I’ve been fucking miserable around you! Everytime I tried to get serious with a girl you’d chase her away or convince me to leave her! Why’s that? ‘Cause you’re afraid I’d become happier than you? More successful than you?”
“What the fuck kinda lies has she been feeding you?” Minako scoffed. “You’re my friend! I want you to be happy. I’ve kept you from boring women who wanted to tie you down and shit.”
“I want a wife and kids! That’s all I’ve ever wanted. ” Haruka gestured around the room to the copious amounts of liquor. “Not all of us want to spend their lives living like some washed up actor. Getting drunk and high every damn day.”
Minako groaned and sat on the coach. “You sound like fucking Rei.”
“Good. She was right about you.” Frozen on the sofa, Minako listened to Haruka rant. “You’re a fucking child. All you want to do is fuck around. You lie and cheat your way to cash that you blow on stupid shit. You’re a selfish bitch who can only think about herself. And this - this past month of lying around feeling sorry for yourself - is because you know she’s right, isn’t it? She hit the nail on the head and you hate her for it - ‘cause now you can’t hide from how shitty you are.”
“Get out of my fucking house.”
Haruka paused, looking at the door before looking back to Minako. “I’m not coming to see you again. Unless you pull your shit together.”
“Like I care. Just get out.” Minako grabbed another bottle off the floor, twisting the cap off aggressively. When Haruka continued to stare, Minako threw the cap at her. “If you’re not out in the next five seconds I’ll throw the damn bottle at you.” Haruka walked out, slamming the door behind her, leaving Minako to drink alone on her sofa.
Ooooohhhhhh man, this is a place I've never personally gone, but love? The idea of Minako trying to drag Haruka down with her, because if SHE'S miserable, and so everyone else should be, walling herself off and lashing out at people untiol she ruins EVERYthing, amazing, chef's kiss.

Chapter 35
It was a good day to drink only if you choose a perfect companion as your drinking buddy. Fortunately for Jimin, Seul had time to spare today. As soon as he finished his practice, he went straight to Seul’s workplace to pick her up.
They chose to drink at the top of the hill near her place. It was the best place to drink according to Seul, yet it did not disappoint him. Taking a sip from her coke, she glanced at him “What are you going to do about it?” she warmed up.
“About what?” Jimin feigned innocence. Rolling her eyes in response, Seul nudged his shoulder lightly “You know what I mean” she whispered.
Jimin scratched his head with a shy smile “Can you stop making fun of me? I told you I will deal with it discreetly. Don’t make it sound so scandalous” Seul curled her lips into a slight pout.
“So, are you going to give up on him?” she asked out of curiosity.
“Seul, listen..  I care for Jungkook and I love him, but it won’t change the fact that it is impossible to pursue him. I am comfortable to love him this way, as time passes the feelings that I have will be washed off completely. I will no longer have this romantic feeling for him, so I can return to where I start. I want to keep Jungkook close to me. I don’t want to ruin what we have now, it is precious” Seul nodded with a soft hum.
“Understandable. I am with you till the end. Follow your heart Jiminie, don’t be pressure. About your feelings for Jungkook, let the time decides it for you. As for now, live your life as it is”
“Thank you. As for now I am not thinking about serious relationship” he squished her hand, smiling brightly.
“So, should I introduce you to a girl?” “Ji Seul!” he poked her forehead using the tip of his finger causing the latter to giggle.
Jimin was having a hard time to deal with her little tease now she’s planning to add more it, what an ignorant girl. “What? Now, that you find I am unfit to your liking. Shall I set you up with someone? There is my best friend Hwasa” grinning like a fool, Seul wiggle her brows, followed by a small dance.
“Are you playing matchmaker now? Wow, you do have a lot of time in hand” he cringed at her absurdity.
“Hey, I am being helpful. Is Hwasa okay for you? She is loud and a little rough though, but that doesn’t matter since you survive Yoongi I am sure you can survive Hwasa!” Jimin was losing his word when he barely started this banter that he’s about to have with Seul.
Scoffing in disapproval, Jimin shuddered at the thought of dating Seul’s best friend “I am sure your friend is as crazy as you. Pass” the girl jabbed the side of his torso with a nasty glare.
“Yah! Do I need to remind you that you used to like me? Tsk, ungrateful brat” she crossed her arms and made a sour face. “Do you have someone in mind?” Seul gave him a questioning look.
“I have someone in mind” it will always be Jungkook, his subconscious argued at the back of his mind.
“Oh my god who?!” she deadpanned. “Is it someone that I know? An idol perhaps? Don’t tell me you like that girl from the previous rumour. I can’t recall her name, but she is pretty” it was Seul got a little dramatic over Jimin’s statement.
His eyes grew wider as he showed his protest “Hell no, not her! I am gay Ji Seul please” he shot Seul an ‘are you kidding me’ look.
“You used to like me; you are bisexual dude” Said Seul with a pout clearly offended by his remarks.
Jimin let out a soft giggle “Well, I am sorry if it is offending you. That was to cover up my gay ass” ruffling Seul’s hair in process, his eyes literally disappeared into crescent moon when he smiled.
“There is a letter that I receive from fans” his voice faded away in process. She really could not fathom the idea of Jimin falling for a stranger through a fan letter.
“Are you saying that you like a fan?” she gawked.
“Can’t you tell that I am changing the topic here? Everything that come from your mouth worth the gossip, goodness” he pinched her lips together earning a death glare from the annoyed girl.
Seul swatted his hand and frowned deeply “You are asking for it. Tell me about this mysterious fan, do you happen to know her personally? Have you ever meet her in any of your fan meeting?” she brought her knees to her chest, looking all excited to hear his story.
“Tsk, look at you. Nosy much. No, I don’t know who this person is personally. I receive her fan letter every month, and the things that she wrote in the letter inspired me” he bit his lower lips and expelled a deep sigh.
“You are falling for her writing? I don’t know you are this soft Park Jimin. She is your fan then?” Seul blinked.
“No, she is Jungkook’s fan”
“Yah, are you trying to steal his fan!” she looked up with a puzzled frown on her face.
He glowered “It is not my fault, she mixed up my name and Jungkook’s face. The first letter that I received from her had my name written on it. I thought it was meant for me until I received another letter. I realized she meant to write it for Jungkook” the content of the letter could not be forgotten easily, that was by far one of the genuine letter that he ever received from anyone.
“How can she mess it up until the end, when you are shorter than Jungkook? There was an obvious difference between both of you” she mumbled.
Jimin eyes widened disagreed by her teasing “Ji Seul! Do I have to remind you few years back, I used to be taller than Jungkook!” he puffed his cheeks, pouting away the last line.
Seul giggled kneading Jimin’s fluffy cheeks. “The story doesn’t match the situation, spill the beans” she demanded.
Annoyed, he really hated her sharpness, can she not be so on point over everything. It seemed impossible to lie to her face. “I stole the letter from Jungkook. One day, she sent another letter to me and Jungkook. She apologized for mistaking me as Jungkook, and that was the last letter that I ever received from her. Ever since she got her bias name right, she had been sending her letter to Jungkook correctly” Seul raised her brows in amusement.
“And that letter never reaches Jungkook right? Aren’t you sly like a snake? How long have it been?”
“About two years?”
“Yah are you insane?! You are not her ultimate member, it is Jungkook. And I thought you have bro-code even when it comes fans” she reasoned. If people think Taehyung is weird, wait till they have their first-hand experience with Jimin. This little mochi can be quite handful sometimes.
He retorted sarcastically “That is why I stop looking for her, because it is impossible to find her in the ocean full of Armys. Recently, she wrote something about her attending Wings Tour and one of our fansign during You Never Walk Alone promotion” she places her hand over her chest dramatically.
“Does it mean you keep your eyes on Jungkook’s fans during your fansign?” he moved his head slowly, scratching his not itchy head.
“I can’t help it don’t blame me. I don’t see any sign of her though, I wonder if she ever come” she snickered in response, letting out a small giggle.
“You don’t even know how she looks like, yet you pretend as if it is the biggest mission on planet” Seul teased.
Jimin simpered, looking pleased of his own decision to track down the mysterious fan “It is worth the try. I still have to apologize to her for not delivering her letters to Jungkook” Seul sent a bewildered look at his way.
“And you continue to steal her letter from Jungkook” she stated sarcastically.
“Jungkook won’t know unless you open your big mouth” Jimin squished her cheeks together messing it up a little, mimicking her action few minutes ago. She slapped his hand whining over Jimin’s unnecessary affection towards her, it spelled ‘Bullies’ on his forehead.
“Are you going to find her till the end?” his simple nod earns a loud cheer from the small girl.
“Yes, only because she is a true fan, and I want to thank her for the letters that she wrote few years ago which comfort me. I was in a rough phase when I first read her letters which she mistakenly addressed it to me. Not gonna lie, her words were just so genuine, I was comforted by them.”
Seul smiled softly, caressing his knees “You will find her one day. Update me once you find her!” Jimin took a sip of his drink and laughed at her silliness.
“Can we stop talking about me? What about you? Have you made up your mind? About Jungkook or Yoongi hyung?” her face turned sour as soon as he brought up the topic.
She grimaced “I..gave up on Jungkook” Jimin eyes shot opened as guilt consumed her. “Seul if this is about my feelings for Jungkook..You know.. you don’t have to do this” he sighed deeply.
“It is not about your feelings for him. I don’t deserve Jungkook, he deserves better than me. He is still young, and there is another amazing person out there who deserves him better than me. Don’t worry, I am not doing this because of you.” Seul gave her assurance that her decision will remain unchanged.
“But..Jimin..after learning the truth about your true feelings, I cant just go behind your back and date him when I am aware about your feelings. That is selfish. You and Jungkook are still possible” she giggled at her own remarks earning a dissatisfied glare from Jimin.
“How thoughtful” Jimin responded bitterly. In all honesty, he loathed the ideas of forging her own feelings for him when she’s free to love and be loved especially with Jungkook. Again, he knew stubborn Seul would not let anything to jeopardize their friendship. She guarded Bangtan’s friendship with all her heart.
“How are you planning to tell him?” Jimin could imagine the pain that the maknae had to bear when the truth is out. Neither Seul nor Jungkook could be blame in this matter, like she said love is about you loving someone. Your mind can’t choose who you’re going to fall in love, because your heart does all the work.
A soft sigh escaped from her lips “I have to do it even it hurts” he felt his arm wrapped securely around her, making her lean against his shoulder. “Jungkook and you can handle this. We can’t please everyone, that is life. Does it mean you are choosing Yoongi hyung?” suddenly thinking again, she falls into deep silence.
For some reason her silence made him fear her decision. Seul deserved to be loved and to be in a relationship, Jimin knows how much his hyung loved this girl. Hell, if anything happens to her he would be the first one to be by her side without fail. That’s the beauty of Min Yoongi when he’s in love.
Seul smiled indulgently “Yoongi is a great man. Do I deserve him? He is too good for me” she doubted herself. Jimin noticed the uneasiness in her voice, so he got the idea who is in her heart.
“It is Yoongi hyung then” he chuckled softly.
Her face turned fifty shades red as she shook her head frantically “I didn’t say anything about choosing him!”
“But there are only two choices to begin with, it is either Jungkook or Yoongi hyung. Now, that you have explicitly rejected Jungkook, shouldn’t you be choosing hyung? Or do you have another guy in your mind” he looked unfazed by the idea of Seul liking someone else who isn’t Bangtan.
There is Jin. Seul hated herself for opening the chances for Jin.
Was she trying to be caught in another messy love web? She barely escaped Jungkook yet she’s making it hard for herself to decided when it involved Jin. Another thing was that, Jin had never mentioned his feelings openly. Was it safe to assume Jin only see her as a good friend?
This was confusing her.
She liked Yoongi, but there’s Jin.
“Drink up, I need to go back in a bit. Mother is alone since Hoon is in Daegu. Shouldn’t you be home by now? I heard you have a long day tomorrow for your comeback show” Jimin frowned when he noticed the latter tried to chance the topic. Maybe it is best to stop talking about serious thing like this and moved on to lighter topic.
“Yes, Mnet. Will you be able to come? I can get a ticket for you” she took a big slurp from her drink before opening a new drink for her to savour.
“I am sorry, I have to work tomorrow and accompanying mother for medical check-up. We finally get a donor that suit my mother, hopefully she is able to go for the surgery by the end of this month” her eyes glimmered in happiness.
Jimin clasped his hand together in delight “Really? Ahjumma finally got the donor! Seul-ah, that is good news! Let me know how it goes, I am happy for you and ahjumma” she tucked the strand of hair behind her ears.
“Thank you Jiminie. I will let you know how it goes okay?” Jimin was satisfied by the news and now that both of them had finally spent their first alone time as a friend together, it was even precious. They stayed for thirty more minutes finishing their snacks and non-alcoholic drinks since Seul couldn’t really take alcohol, the reason why they ended up drinking sodas.
 ---------------
She pushed the password to her apartment and made her way inside hurriedly. To her dismay, she was welcomed by the sound of her mother’s shout from the living room which sounded like she’s having a huge fight with someone.
Seul kicked her shoes hastily approaching the loud sound only to be welcomed by a horrifying sight. Her mom was pressed against the wall while she threw a fit, meanwhile a man dressed in grey suit probably in his mid-fifties had his hand wrapped around her mother throat.
“I should have killed you ever since you decided to keep the baby” he snarled.
Seul took a moment to digest the situation and without wasting any more time, she lurched forward pulling the man away from her mother. Using her strength, she pushed the man against the coffee table and went to aid her mother.  For a man that twice her size, she sure was quite strong to be able to push him without help.
“Mom, are you okay?” her mother coughed and panted heavily. The man dusted his clothes, standing up from his feet “Finally, the princess is back” Seul glared furiously at him, while helping her mom regaining her balance.
“Who the hell are you? Get out before I call the cops!”
“Jihyun you never told her about me, don’t you? I am hurt” he stretched one of his hand out for a handshake “Let me introduce myself, I am Lee Wonsuk, your fa-“ Mrs Hwang blazed in fury stopping the man before he could finish his word.
“KEEP YOUR FILTHY MOUTH SHUT!” the older woman outburst surprised Seul leaving the girl in daze. She was desperate to know who this man in front of her for her mother is to be this furious.
The man raised his hands with a mischievous look in his eyes “Alright, we will not talk about this tonight. You know Jihyun, you can’t keep this secret forever.  I will come to claim what is mine soon” his eyes then landed on Seul, making the girl feel smaller under his gaze. It sent chill down her spine.
“Nice to see you Ji Seul” dumbfounded by the situation, Seul watched the man disappeared from their vicinity and turned to face her mother.
“Mom, are you alright?” she held her arms, sitting her down on the couch. “Are you sure we just let him escape? You almost got killed!” Mrs Hwang shook her head weakly, leaning her back against the couch.
Seul went to get a glass of water and returned almost immediately by her mother side “Who is he? He seems to know you” the older woman smiled meekly, placing the glass on the coffee table.
“He is not important Seul, forget about him. He is just an old man with rage” displeased with her mother’s ambiguous answer, Seul did not stop her interrogation until she got the answers that she wanted.
“I don’t believe you, no- I choose not to believe you at all. Enough with secrets, this is your life we’re talking, what if he returns and hurt you? For once, can you treat me like a real adult, I can handle this!” Seul sighed lightly.
There was a long silence between them for a moment. “Are you going to make me wait?” she grew impatient. No matter what happens, today is the perfect day to learn the bitter truth, even it is hurt at least she’s no longer living in the dark.
The older woman muttered lowly finally unravelling the secrets that she kept for years from Seul. “Twenty-two years ago, a month before my wedding with Hoon’s father, I was raped” Seul stared at her in utter disbelief, shaking her head.
“By who?” she squished her mother’s hand, giving her strength to continue her story.
“Lee Wonsuk, he is your father’s best friend. And there was another man with him that night. I received a call from Wonsuk, that Hoon’s father got into a fight and was badly injured. I went to his place and the last thing that I remember was seeing his face in front of the doorstep. Then I blacked out. The next morning when I woke up, I saw two naked bodies beside me” she started to sob.
Seul swallowed the knot on her throat, weary with the weight of her mother’s grief. She wondered how she could bear the pain alone all those years. She embraced her mother tight, “I am sorry that you have to go through that pain alone, mom” her tears finally cascaded down swallowing all the pain at once.
Mrs Hwang held her lovely daughter close to her “That…man..is he my father?” praying hard inside, Seul really hoped the things that came from her mother contradicted to what she had in mind.
Expelling a long sigh, she looked empty and worn out. Seul gulped down a huge breath of air through her mouth, because she was afraid to hear the truth. Even though, she realized it was not something that she can simply deny knowing they were sharing the same blood.
“I don’t know.. I couldn’t remember that night, I was drugged. He came to me out of the blue and claimed that you are his. I…dont want to trust him.. You are mine, my daughter. Even though, if he is your father, I will not let him come near you. Seul, stay away from him. He is planning to take you away from me” she said, her voice containing a hint of panic.
“I won’t let him take me away from you, I promise. You and Hoon are the only family that I have. Mom, don’t stress yourself. You are not well, we will talk about this later. You need to rest” she took her cold hand in hers, stroking it gently giving a little heat to the freezing hands.
“Are you alright?” Mrs Hwang asked worriedly. She was concerned of her daughter’s mental health though Seul had stopped taking medicine for her depression, still it could relapse.
Seul glanced over at her mother, secretly wiping her tears “I will be fine, don’t worry about me” she gave her a reassuring smile. The pain that she felt was nothing if she were to compare it with her mother, it was best to keep it to herself.
She pressed once more not convince with Seul response “Seul-ah, don’t keep it to yourself, cry if you want to cry, scream if you are angry, that is what normal people do” she caressed her cheeks softly in hope Seul would say something about her resentment. To her dismay, she remained stoic.
“It is okay, I am fine” Seul left a soft kiss on her forehead before stood up from her seat.
“Where are you going Seul?”
“I need some time alone, I won’t be late. Get some rest alright? Don’t wait for me” her weak smile was another way to indicate ‘no, im not okay please go after me and save me’ . In this situation, Mrs Hwang tried to find a solution more like somebody to ensure she would not do anything stupid.
She quietly grabbed her purse and made her way to the door leaving her mother who seemed about to lose her mind seeing her only daughter disappeared beyond the door. Pushing herself up from the couch, she grabbed her phone and scrolled through her contact. Hwasa or Wongeun were the best choice that she had, Seul needed someone by her side.
In fact, Mrs Hwang knew her daughter would not express her pain openly to anyone even with her, she was very conscious of what she’s about to say. To see how she fought back and recovered from her depression back then was a miracle.
However, that doesn’t mean it wont come back to haunt her.
Her eyes stopped at that one name in her contacts, the exact person that could be another miracle in Seul’s life. Without further ado, Mrs Hwang pushed the green button and waited for her calls to be answered.
“Yoongi-ah, it is ahjumma. I need your help..It is about Seul..”

Noir Reaction: Teasing Them in French
A/n: I apologize if the french phrases are incorrect, I do not speak french. Also coming up with teasing things to say is hard. But I hope this is good and you enjoy!!
Requested by: my fellow Lumi, the lovely and sweet @daewonbiased
Seunghoon:
Tumblr media
You had come to drop off Seunghoon’s dinner. Then you spent twenty minutes after convincing him to take a break from work. Somehow an hour later your boyfriend had dragged you to the practice room to watch him goof off and dance to random songs. Somehow he had found some mats in a closet. Somehow he had now gone off on a tangent trying to prove to you taekwondo was sexy.
“No.” You laughed as you sat against the mirror. “You scared?” He asked with a smirk. His blonde hair fell over his eyes. “Of you, mon ours?” He laughed at your nickname for him. While he loved the adorable pet name he really loved showing off. He motioned for you to join him on the mats and he took a ready position.
“I couldn’t possibly risk hurting such a pretty face.” You said standing in front of your boyfriend, a coy smile playing on your lips. “I’m not just a pretty face, you know.” He said grabbing ahold of your waist. Draping your arms around his neck you played with the ends of his hair. You hummed before replying, “Je parlais de moi - mon visage.” (I was talking about me- my face.)
His eyebrow quirked up. Clearly, he picked up on the connotation of your words. He took a breath, blowing some of his hair out of his face. “I put up with the boys all day and then you have to do this to me?” He scoffed and looked to the side. “Oh, I’m sorry, mon ours. Here. I’ll make it up to you.” Seunghoon couldn't help but smile when you reached up kissed him, letting your hands tangle in his hair.
Yeonkuk:
Tumblr media
Yeonkuk sat lazily on a couch in the dressing room. Your legs were draped over his lap as you messed with his phone. The both of you were waiting for your slots on stage. Noir was performing and so was your group. Thankfully the public was very supportive of your relationship. You had even MCed together once.
“Are we eating after?” Daewon asked Yeonkuk who sat beside him. The boys were used to having you around. Yeonkuk nodded. “The girls are going to join us too. Our manager thinks it would be good press. Also, I miss seeing my baby.” Yeonkuk said bring your hand up to his lips. You smiled at him over the phone.
“I miss you too, Minou,” He smiled at your pet name for him and continued his conversation with his dongsaeng. Time passed and both of you were growing bored exponentially. “Minou, look over here!” Yeonkuk was playing with the laces of your chunky boots and he looked over pulling a funky face. Laughing you took picture after picture of him. He let you mess around more on his phone and traced random patterns on the skin of your bare legs.
A ding sounded on Daewon’s phone and he pulled it out and laughed. It was a picture of Yeonkuk pulling an absurd face with the caption ‘petit minou’ on Noir’s official account. “Why would you post that?” He asked with a laugh, pulling you fully into his lap. “Je ne peux pas m'en empêcher si tu as une drôle de tête.” (I can’t help it if you have a funny face.)
“Yah! I’m going to kill you!” He said playfully shaking you before kissing your cheek.
Junyong:
Tumblr media
Lying lazily in bed with a good book was the highlight of your Saturday. Junyong was sitting against the headboard with his laptop and you lay near his feet stretched out and holding a book over your face. The soft clicking of keys and rain outside the window relaxed your mind and body. Every once in awhile Jun would absentmindedly start to rub your ankle. The loving gesture further compelled sleep to fight your consciousness.
Every so often Junyong would ask you a question and sleepily you would respond. Eventually, you put your book aside and turned on your side giving in to the temptation of an afternoon nap. Thunder rolled and rain tapped against the window. At some point, you thought you heard Junyong pick up the phone.
Ignoring it you slipped in and out of sleep for the next ten minutes. “Y/n,” You rolled over to avoid the voice. Nothing would ruin your perfect nap. “Y/n.” Lifting a hand you waved off your boyfriend. He chuckled and continued his call. It seemed he could find the answer to his question on a place called Google.
Close to twenty minutes after Jun called your name again. “Y/n,” Again you ignored him. “Baby?” Groaning you opened your eyes and sat up. Junyong held his phone to his ear and the other still rested on your ankle. He looked at you with a soft smile that reached his eyes. Sighing you switched positions and laid back down next to him this time nuzzling your face into his side. “Babe, do you know today’s date?”
“Oui.” (Yes.)
“Do you wanna tell me?”
“Non, ça va.” (No, I’m good.)
“Why?” “You keep interrupting my nap, dingus.”
Yunsung:
Tumblr media
Yunsung called ahead to tell you he was leaving the shooting space. You ordered the food and set up a french tv show the two of you had been watching recently. The door opened and your boyfriend dropped his keys and bag on the table. He greeted you with a kiss. “You smell. Go shower. The food will be here soon.” He nodded and rubbed his eyes before heading to the bathroom.
Humming a random song you grabbed napkins and utensils to eat with while waiting for the delivery man. The door rang ten minutes later and you opened to see a smiling young man. “Hello, are you Y/n L/n?” He asked sweetly. Nodding you grabbed the food and set it on the table near the door and returned to sign. While writing the tip you felt two arms wrap around your stomach and you smiled. “
Thanks! Have a goodnight.” You said before closing the door. Yunsung grabbed the food and flopped on the couch waiting for you to sit beside him before playing the show. “How was your day, love?” He asked stuffing food in his hungry mouth. “Good. You?” He sighed and finished chewing. “Exhausting. We were shooting all day. I’m so ready to be done with this music video.”
“Quoi? Avez-vous dû regarder une caméra sexuellement pendant dix minutes?” (What? Did you have to stare at a camera sexily for ten minutes?) His eyebrow rose at your words and he set down his food. “Yes. I did. I was sexy all day. It was very hard.”
Siheon:
Tumblr media
Siheon drove the two of you to the gym late at night. The security team had rented out the court for you to meet some of the boys for a late-night game. Siheon smiled as he listened to you talk on the phone with your mother. You were teaching him a little bit of french so he picked up a sentence or two. Something about him and recording. You were probably talking about their new music video that was about to come out. He was grateful your family supported him even from overseas.
Security took Siheon’s keys and drove the car around back. He slung an arm over your shoulder as the two of you walked in the building to meet the boys. You waved as you saw Junyong, Hoyeon, Seunghoon, and Minhyuk. Minhyuk had called you a couple of hours ago and asked if you wanted to play a few games of basketball.
Music blared from a speaker Hoyeon brought as you and the boys played your second game of three on three. Siheon was on a team with Junyong and Seunghoon and you were on a team with Hoyeon and Minhyuk. The six of you laughed and played late into the night. It was no surprise to the boys how intense you were. You shoulder checked your boyfriend as you raced across the court and made a layup into the hoop.
Looking back you saw Siheon getting up from the floor. “That was a foul!” He said pointing at you with a laugh bubbling up in his throat. “Oh please. Votre vie sociale est une faute.” (Your social life is a foul.) Siheon’s face dropped and then he looked around at the other boys before laughing. “Yah! You can’t tease me like that Y/n!”
Hoyeon:
Tumblr media
Glancing at your phone you saw a text from your boyfriend. Your boss had just let everyone go for a half-day. Something about a shipment problem? It didn’t matter because now you had the rest of the day completely free! Hoyeon messaged you that he and the boys were just arriving at their photoshoot location. Jumping in your car you drove over to the set and texted the manager to let you in as a surprise. Before you got to the shooting space you ran into Seunghoon in the hall who gave you a big hug and told you Hoyeon was just about to leave the dressing room.
The dressing room was filled to the brim with makeup artists and stylists who rushed around trying to get ready, but only four boys were in there. Siha waved at you and beckoned you over. “Hoyeon just left for the stage. Want to walk together?” Nodding the both of you headed towards the shooting space.
The temperature immediately dropped as you walked through the doors into the big room. Huge lighting pieces lit up a backdrop that Hoyeon stood against. Siha elbowed you as the two of you came closer. The two of you giggled as you watched Hoyeon’s modeling from off to the side.
While they were adjusting lighting he finally saw and waved at you, a big smile growing on his face. When it was over your boyfriend jogged over a planted a big kiss on your lips, completely ignoring his friend. “Good job,” Siha said patting Hoyeon on the back and congratulating him on a good shoot. “That dark disapproving, smoldering thing?” You said imitating his poses. “That’s illegal in Europe you know.”
“Oh yeah?” He said quirking up his eyebrow and letting a smirk fall on his lips. “Heureusement, vous ne violeriez pas la loi.” (Good thing you wouldn’t be breaking the law.) His smirk grew wider before Siha tapped him on the shoulder and whispered in his ear. “Bro, I think she was messing with you. I don’t think it means what you think it means.” Siha laughed as Hoyeon’s grin fell and he turned to shoot you a playful glare.
Siha:
Tumblr media
Today was spring cleaning. You were determined to make it so. Siha was often busy and things had picked up for you at work so both of you had gotten a little lax when it came to cleaning the apartment. Opening the windows, you started playing soft french tunes from a CD your mother sent you to listen to while cleaning.
Siha seemed to be extra affectionate today. He would come up behind you and randomly start dancing with you, before being forced back on track. He would compliment you and kiss you obviously trying to distract you. Siha was quite annoyed you chose one of his rare days off to clean and not lounge on the couch with him.
"Y/n!" Ignoring your boyfriend you continued pulling clothes from the dryer. "What, mon coeur?" You called finally giving in to his calls. He shuffled into the laundry room and wrapped his arms around your waist. "Have I told you I love you?" He said kissing your cheek. Laughing, you slapped his shoulder. "Many many times in the past hour." He sighed as you turned back around out of his embrace.
"But, Y/n, I just love you so much!"
"Arrête de dire 'je t'aime' pour sortir des corvées." (Stop saying 'I love you' to get out of chores.)
You said shoving a basket of clean laundry in his hands. Siha glared daggers at you before turning away to go put away laundry. He had no idea what you said but he was just barely smart enough to figure out that you had caught onto his scheme.
Minhyuk:
Tumblr media
Minhyuk finally had a couple of days off from work. The two of you decided to visit your family back in Lille, France. On your second day, the two of you wandered throughout the beautiful city. Hand in hand you walked down the people-filled streets. It made you so happy to see him loving where you grew up.
At the golden hour, the two of you ventured to the massive market near the center of the city. Minhyuk happily took pictures with the camera he had brought and excitedly ate samples with you from stalls. “Y/n! Look over here!” “Min, they are just vegetables. We have those at home!” You said with a laugh, letting your cute boyfriend drag you from stall to stall.
You spent the day haggling with french vendors for cute little trinkets and souvenirs Min had picked up along the way. With your bags filled to the brim, you strolled down to the metro to catch the train back to your hotel. The train was quickly filled so you and Minhyuk had to sit across from each other. As the stops passed by more and more people got off at the stations.
Looking over you found Minhyuk staring at you, leaning on one of the rails and his head on resting on his hand. Laughing to cover the blush you looked away and out the window at the setting sun. Turning once again you saw him staring. “Stop staring!” He giggled and adjusted the camera in his lap before his eyes turned back to you. “I can’t help it,” He went back to contently watching you with a smile. If anyone else was in the car they might think he was crazy.
"Pourquoi ne prenez-vous pas une photo? Cela durera plus longtemps." (Why don’t you take a picture then. It will last longer.)
He chuckled, probably picking up a few words. Without hesitation, he aimed the camera at you and adjusted the lens before snapping the picture.
Daewon:
Tumblr media
"Oh my god, Cheetos are not chips!" You yelled into the living room at your boyfriend. The two of you had gotten into a random debate and it had now turned into a somewhat heated argument. "Where do you find Cheetos though? In the snack aisle."
Daewon said getting up from the couch. The argument continued for at least another thirty minutes. The both of you chased each other around the living room trying to each prove their own point. "Cheetos leave the same residue that other chips do on your fingers." "They aren't chip shaped!" You said raising your hands in the air.
"Oh yeah? You really want to fight? Let's go!" He said opening his arms and challenging you. You rolled your eyes and turned your back to him muttering, "Malheureusement, j'ai une règle contre les combats contre les enfants." (Unfortunately, I have a rule against fighting children.) Turning you saw Daewon standing there with a blank look on his face.
"Y/n that's cheating. You can't just switch and tease me in french that's like so unfair." You couldn't help but laugh at your whining boyfriend. Kissing him on the cheek you walked out of the room soon after being followed by Daewon still trying to win the pointless debate.
“Y/n! Come back here! This doesn’t mean you won!”
Requests are open! Just send an ask; don’t be shy!

I saw you in a dream. (Then it came to an end.)
Read on Ao3!
Happy belated birthday to one of the best people in the world: @lance-alt! I promised I’d do something for you on Monday, but of course I have to make people wait for the juicy stuff. (read: the juicy stuff will be your tears after this, probably.) Love you bro!
General taglist: @whizzie72 @sapphire-knight @burningpersonflapsuitcase @softanxiouspatton @royallyanxious @kim-argent-moon @lance-alt (tell me if you want to be added or removed)
Taglist: @unsocialchapeau
Word Count: 2,626
Characters: mainly Remus, Logan, Deceit, Roman, (mentioned Virgil)
Pairing(s): onesided!Intrulogical, implied Loceit
Warning(s): Angst. So much angst. Also unresolved angst. Yelling, Swearing. Might be a bit ooc cause I can’t write Remus the way I’d like.
Summary: What do we not do for a loved one? What do we not do for the sake of a friendship? What do we not do to make sure we destroy ourselves in favor of others? And how exactly did Remus think he was going to be perfectly fine?
A/N: I am not sorry. This is a human AU btw. Enjoy! :3
❝Though I am bruised
Face of contusions
Know I’ll keep moving❞
Remus would have never blamed D.
It was middle school, and middle schoolers were widely known for their passion of brushing off specific people who didn’t appear quite as appropriate for themselves in their eyes.
He had always been a devastating tornado according to those around him, unable to be tamed unless given space to burst until not even a gentle breeze was left to tickle his skin.
D, on the other hand, knew how to be cool and poised, but that didn’t mean his nature was the one of an innocent puppy.
No, better yet, he was more like a domesticated beast.
That truly gave the teachers a hard time, because once combined they became inseparable and never really ceased to meddle with them.
And yet … students were most definitely inclined to avoid Remus at best, while when it came to D only curious and interested glances were given.
Remus would have never blamed him though, D didn’t even realize how far better they were treating him compared to his friend. He only focused on how close-minded people still were in there.
Who was he not to join in his complaining?
Everything would have been fine with him for as long as their friendship stayed that way. A messy supportive two-participants family.
It felt like a welcoming and roaring fire at the same time, the chaos they brought just with their understanding looks and smirks.
They knew they were going to end up with a long lasting friendship and they were proud to remind those around them by never losing sight of each other at school.
And it was okay that way, with only just D accepting him the way he was, he didn’t really need much else.
Until that cursed afternoon.
There was an extracurricular sort of contest their school held right after lessons every year, but Remus could barely remember what it even was about
All he remembered was that damned marvellous thoughtful and focused expression when he looked a bit to his left to the boy sitting next to him.
Oh, the irony.
It had been right then that it had hit him. That maybe … maybe there was already something else. A something that transformed into something more with every little bit of interaction they shared.
Roman knew him, they were in the same class, and he had to complain at least once a day about how unnerving the guy was, always challenging him do debates Roman was so inclined to win that it took a third party member, Virgil, to separate them.
How the three of them were still close friends after three years was still a mystery to many.
So that was when he first heard about Logan.
But his brother and him weren’t exactly known for having the safest household in the world, so inviting friends over was a hard no. Then, the actual first time Remus had seen him was when he entered middle school that year.
At first he hadn’t obviously realized his crush, but after he had spent the minimal amount of time with Logan, it was so blatant that even he couldn’t deny it to himself.
He could have also labelled it as the first time someone other than his brother and D had recognized him as another human other than a weird poltergeist to avoid. There was a way he spoke with that low tone and thoughtful arguments that would have probably made him melt right on the spot. Or maybe it was his sharp features, or the way he thought he had looked at him that one time.
Remus was deep down the river at the base of the cliff, the tip of his hair barely managing to be untouched by the water.
Damn Roman. Damn Roman and his storytelling, and how Remus had always rooted for Logan in their discussions, how he had already taken a liking into him and had already doomed himself.
It was break, fifteen minutes of pure relaxation, and Remus and D had already spent the first five minutes together, trying to get away from the stress of the ending of the first term.
D’s eyes lit up as they turned a corner, Remus followed his gaze as he spoke.
« Hey! Why is this the first time I see you since school started? » a toothy smile displayed on his lips. It was almost as bright as the one he reserved to him.
« Your cousin is impossible to move from his seat. » Logan’s crystalline voice cleared. « So Roman and I mostly stay in class with him. »
« Ugh, » D rolled his eyes. « I apologize on his behalf. » he didn’t hide the fond tone when he talked, though.
« No, it’s quite alright by us. » had he ever not turned to Remus, maybe he wouldn’t have regretted meeting Logan in the long run. « Oh, I didn’t even introduce myself properly the other day. » he stretched out his hand. « I am Logan. »
« I know. »
Panic.
Fuck. Fuck what did you just say, why. Now he’ll think you’re creepy, too.
D put an arm around his shoulders. « Yeah, he’s Roman’s brother. » perhaps a saviour? « And sometimes he’s just as dense as him. »
Remus scoffed. « Lies. I’m a better idiot than him. »
That got a chuckle out of both. He felt delighted.
As he saw Logan about to withdraw his hand, Remus took it almost instantly.
Oh my god what the fuck are you doing?
« I’m Remus. » the bell rang and maybe his ears were too.
« My pleasure. » Logan conceded before letting go and starting to backtrack to his class. « I’ll see you two around. »
And as fast as he arrived, he was gone.
Like a blurry hallucination or those spots you see when you get up too fast from the couch.
The rest of the day-
Well, he didn’t remember much anymore.
Maybe the fact that he and Logan did actually have something in common.
When there was a group of three, there would always be the two that shared the stronger chemistry. And if Logan didn’t feel as close to Roman and Virgil, Remus sure as heck knew if anyone interacted with D and him, he would have felt like something was off most of the times.
There were flashes of memories that crossed his mind ever since Logan had left middle school to start his first year of high-school.
Most were all the meet ups they had with D during break, the glances he caught and buried deep down in his heart, the laughter of all three of them, how their dynamics colliding were actually definitely working well together.
What he remembered mostly were the furtive tears that were shed on their last day.
He never told D about that.
It was when he went home that he couldn’t have hidden it from Roman any longer. His brother had affirmed that he had been crying even more than himself, which was saying a lot.
So the words came out like a destructive flood, deleting with a burning strength all the hopeful thoughts.
« Rem, listen here. » Roman, thankfully, had spoken up before his mind would have travelled down risky paths. « Not seeing each other almost everyday doesn’t mean you won’t be friends any longer. »
He had only looked up from the pavement. Were he to look back at this memory years after he’d have thought himself to be pathetic.
« And you can definitely meet after school whenever you want. If our parents won’t let you, I’ll come with. »
And that they did, slowly trying to gain their parents’ trust to let them go out by themselves until they were both attending high-school.
Another three years would have passed before the lethal “last day” would come again, but the trio made sure to imprint the best memories together while they had the time.
Only that the most unexpected things happen at the worst times.
Remus and D were both in the third year; things seemed to be going smoothly as ever, between all the tests and mental breakdowns for said tests, Remus would have never thought to cross the threshold of his school and be met with loud yelling not too further away from his class.
Normally he wouldn’t have really cared much.
Unless the two subjects were Logan and D. Which they were. Which had also made him pale with a horrible feeling in his guts.
He couldn’t make out what they were saying as the screaming in his thoughts didn’t leave him alone.
« MIT, Logan. Seriously! You’re insane! »
« I had my reasons! »
D scoffed and put his face in his hands for a beat. « Refusing because of your friendships is not a valid reason! »
Remus was confused. He really didn’t want to be there at all.
« It is when you don’t want to lose them. »
« You wouldn’t have, you idiot! »
« Guys what’s- »
« There is a reason if we’re friends! »
« -going …? » he could see the profound rage in D’s caramel irises. One glance and you’re dead.
« You didn’t trust us to maintain our friendship, did you? Is that why you refused the international internship? »
« That’s absurd, that’s not what I mean! »
« It sounds a lot like it’s exactly what you mean! »
Remus connected the dots.
Friendship. MIT. International internship. Logan had refused to be an intern abroad only because of them. He had been too afraid to loose them as friends if he were to be away too long.
And, of course, D was mad about his lost opportunity. He would have never admit it at that moment, but he felt guilty, too.
« You sure talk a lot and pretend you’re smart but, really, you’re just as stupid sometimes. »
The look in Logan’s eyes changed.
Oh no. Oh no no no no.
« Fine then. I’ll keep on being stupid on my own. » he walked away in a instant, steps long and furious, opposing the low tone of his voice, but matching the seething fire in his chest.
« D- »
« Please, don’t. » D looked at him with broken eyes. « I’m fine. We’re fine. I’ll see you during break, okay? »
Remus only nodded and headed to his own class. He pretended he didn’t feel awful as he walked by the door to Logan’s own class.
It was as D said. Fine.
Everything was going to be okay.
Except it wasn’t, because that was the last time both of them talked with Logan.
The two wouldn’t even look at each other and Remus couldn’t help but side with D. That meant he wouldn’t have interacted with the older boy either.
And so time passed … months. Avoiding each other when all you ever wanted was to share at least a single word.
It wasn’t okay. It wasn’t fine at all, it hurt so much and Remus didn’t know how longer he would have been able to handle it.
Yet, he was too afraid to do anything. He wouldn’t have wanted to loose D’s friendship too because of a reckless action. And he did lots of them. So, for once, he stayed put and let the Fates do their work.
Which ended into the fight remaining unresolved, Logan graduating from high-school and both of them never meeting him again.
Roman had tried to bring up the argument multiple times, but Remus had decided to bury everything deep down and avoid ever bringing it up.
Like a ghost, Logan appeared to exist only in his mind. A mind that he didn’t seem to want to leave. Even despite all that had been going down his ridiculously tough teenage life.
Remus and D had no idea how they made it through the final exams.
They also had no clue how they almost completely lost contact after the beginning of university.
Maybe it wasn’t loneliness he felt after that. Maybe it was more disappointment.
It wasn’t like it was anyone’s fault, though. Their lessons never matched, so during the week it was almost impossible to meet, sometimes they had jobs in the weekend to pay for apartments nearby their universities.
Texts became a burden they both forgot to remember to answer, it was as if anything was a priority to socializing and it was driving them insane.
Even sad.
Then one day, out of the blue, D had texted him in a way he hadn’t done in too long. He sounded greatly excited and he had told Remus he needed to meet him as soon as possible.
He had a surprise!
Remus was radiant that day, finally getting the chance he deserved to recover their friendship.
It was a Friday afternoon, he was walking down the street towards the place they had agreed on to meet.
D was right in front of him. But enough meters away so that he couldn’t recognize yet the person walking alongside him. Remus narrowed his eyes, almost squeezing them shut at some point. Did the sun have to be so bright right above them that day?
He put a hand on his forehead to shield his vision.
He wished he didn’t.
Not because the guy next to D was Logan.
Not because his heart made three somersaults before twisting one last time as though he fell in love all over again at once, hitting his chest like a violent wind in a snowstorm.
Not because he was smiling so wide his face would have fallen off any second.
But because, as his eyes focused and examined their figures, he noticed the details.
Like their joined hands, fingers intertwined the way he would have wanted to but had never been brave enough to do.
How they looked lovingly at each other before turning back to him.
His own smile faltering for a second and then going back as it was before. Normal, sure, but fake. Fake, but not blatant enough to be discovered.
He couldn’t do this to them.
And sure he was going to be happy for them right? They had been friends. He was going to survive by internalizing everything in himself, right? He was going to forget about all his feelings in favour of his closest friends. That was the right thing to do.
It happened to everyone.
It did.
He could survive.
Hurting in the process, but he could.
The day went by in an instant, a terrible, calamitous and painstakingly long instant in which he hoped he had been hallucinating all along.
Remus had wiped everything he had seen while on his way home. He forcefully removed any kind of thought in his head so he could bask in the numbness until the silent chaos of the world around him stopped making sense.
He threw the door to his home open.
Except that it wasn’t his home and that he had somehow gotten to Roman’s own apartment, red eyes adorning his face in a brutally doleful expression.
His brother was immediately at his side, arms wrapped around his chest, with an understanding look in his eyes and anticipation for the tears to come.
He had known about Logan and D getting together before Remus, so he had seen something like that coming.
Yet Roman didn’t know it would’ve hit him hard too, seeing his brother so broken.
So he let Remus cry his soul out, while nothing else could have been done.
Dreaming, perhaps.
That was all he had left.

@earthquakeofideas asked - pls may my lonely ass have a ship 🥺 i’m a girl w brown hair + blue eyes, glasses, and im kinda thicc and short. i rly like all things horror even tho i’m a huge chicken. i love to draw, and i also love indie music, and fashion. i’m also a vegetarian :-) i love reptiles and dogs. also, i’m a very empathetic person uwu! thank u bro 💕💗🥺🥰
Of course you can!  I am so sorry that this took so, so long!  Remote learning had really messed up my schedule (not that I really had one to begin with).
I ship you with...
Horace Somnusson!
I know this might sound strange, and I know that he is one of the younger wards of the loop, but let’s just assume that he’s a few years older!  I got a little carried away, so there’s a LOT of stuff under the cut
So you work at a small family owned boutique in a no-name town in Florida, it was one of those “My friend’s aunt who knows this lady, who’s sister-in-law owns this” kinda things
On one particular day, business was very slow, so you decided to listen to your own music through your earbuds instead of whatever trending pop music was playing over the intercom of the boutique today
You’re jamming out, folding some nice sweater, and hanging up dress on the “Sale! 10% Off” rack, so you don’t notice the bunch of people that walk in
You finally realize that they had walked into the store when you get a tap on your shoulder
You turn around to see a beautiful blond boy with impeccable fashion sense
I’d like to think that Horace gets quite a bit taller as he gets older so he’d kind of be staring down at you
Hi miss!  Do you happen to have this dress shirt in a smaller size?  Wonderful blouse you have on there, truly quality craftsmanship.  Maybe a medium?  Or do you have any slimmer styles?
You were in awe of the style he had and the fact he had an elegant British accent, something very unusual for no-name town in Florida
Most guys that came in here were sent in by their girlfriend or wife with a picture of what they needed
This guy wore beautiful leather oxfords, exquisitely tailored slacks, and a button up that was probably nicer than a lot of the shirts in here
You had to look up at him to see his face (and he had a pretty nice one)
Oh, yeah, we actually have a few slimmer ones, they’re behind that display over there.
Responding to him makes you realize the group of people he’s with
There’s another boy older than the one you just helped, and one other boy that looks around the same age, he had almost cartoon-like bags under his eyes
There were two girls, one practically had fire in here eyes and one wore a quite tomboy outfit
Thanks, love!
“Love?” You thought to yourself, who calls someone they just met “Love”?  Is it a British thing?
You watched him walk over to the other side of the store and later helped him and his friends check out at the counter
You had an interesting conversation about cashmere versus alpaca wool while him and his friends payed for the clothes they picked out
The rest of the day, you kept the strange interaction in the back of your mind, wishing you had gotten his name
Once you had finished up closing the shop, you walked out, holding your sketchbook along with your other belongings and began locking the front door of the boutique
There was the sound of expensive shoes slapping against the pavement, but you didn’t think of it because there was always a bunch of rich kids running around this neighborhood
You turned around, only to see the boy from earlier running towards you and slam into you sending your sketchbook flying, papers floating in the air
They settled in the ground revealing your drawings of outfits and cute little reptiles
Oh my, oh dear, I am so sorry, so unbelievably sorry.  Let me help you pick these up, love
“Love? again?” you thought
He bent down and started to gather the pages that were strewn out all over the sidewalk
As the boy helped you pick up your sketches, he began to admire your sketches
These are quite superb!  I love this chameleon you have here!
You weren’t too sure on how to respond, you don’t even know why he ran into you in the first place!  Let alone his name!
Oh, you must be confused a bit on why I ran into you like a madman.  I truly am sorry, I was trying to get here before you closed the shop because, well, this must sound absurd, but I wanted to get your name.  I’m Horace by the way.  I just wanted to talk to you a bit more.
You were a little shocked, but you introduced yourself and the rest is history
You two started going out on the town as friends and it quickly evolved into something else
It wasn’t a surprise when he asked you to go on a real date with him
After a wonderfully planned date, he was walking you home when you both noticed that you were being followed
Millard, I know that you’re following us!  Please come out of the bushes so I can introduce you to her.  I figured this was going to happen sooner than later.
When nothing stepped out of the bushes even though you heard the sound of rustling leaves
Horace introduced you to Millard, briefly going over the fact that he was invisible, something that seemed a lot more important to you than Horace apparently
I suppose I should explain the rest to you now shouldn’t I?
He took you to a large expensive house on the other side of town, where you were introduced to the rest of the gang
He explained the peculiardom to you, and told you what he could do
You were a little skeptical at first, but quickly realized that he wasn’t joking around
You guys were hanging out at your place when he fell asleep on the couch
This was after a mutual agreement to stop a horror film you guys were watching because of the antagonists’ mutated animal that would have given you both nightmares if you continued
At first Horace was just squirming a bit
Then he started to whimper and cry out for someone that you didn’t know
But you really understood what he was talking about when he shot up from the couch, eyes wide open and glossed over, not really focusing on anything
Oceans will rise to claim what was stolen from them, ashes will fall from the skies to punish the destructive, cities will burn in the name of greed,  after the fog lifts the only remnants will be of those who tried, we will be no longer, six-legged wings will devour us in the end
When he first started talking his voice sounded almost dreamy, but by the time he finished, he was shouting, his limbs flying everywhere, it was as if he was in physical pain, but it was only a dream
As soon as he stopped spewing out apocalyptic riddles, he slipped back into a restless sleep
You were so freaked out that you didn’t let him sleep for long, you woke him up and asked him what that whole thing was about
He told you that he didn’t remember anything he saw or said, and the ones he can’t remember barely every come true
You trusted Horace, so you relaxed and decided to put that horror film you stopped
It took a few scenes to remember why you had shut it off in the first place
Horace started taking a lot of naps at your place, he usually didn’t get a lot of sleep when he went to bed at night due to his visions
You weren’t aware how little sleep he was getting, oh the wonders of concealer
Sleeping somewhere else didn’t stop the visions of seeing people he didn’t even know get in car accidents, get shot in a back ally, and many other worse things
He wanted to sleep wherever you were because when he would wake up in a cold sweat, he didn’t want to have to explain what he saw to Miss P, or answer Millard’s endless questions, or have to endure Enoch’s rude comments
He wanted to be with you
You would be there for him, if he wanted to talk, you would listen, if he wanted to just sit and think, you would be right next to him
He’d absolutely love your glasses!
He’d love picking out new frames with you
He’d search the whole store to find the perfect pair
And Horace would love to go shopping with you because let’s be real here, Horace is the only peculiar with any fashion sense whatsoever
Do you know happy he would be to have a conversation about fashion with someone who knows what he’s talking about
He would totally buy you outfits at completely random times for absolutely no reason
I just saw this and I knew that you would look spectacular in it, even though you look spectacular in everything under the sky, love
Did I mention that he calls you “love” all the time?
Well, he does and refuses to call you anything else
He has you in his phone (assuming he gets one when he’s out of the loop) as Love
Just Love
When he finds out that you’re vegetarian, he goes on a vegetarian kick himself
He learns a bunch of vegetarian recipes to cook for you guys
And the dishes he cooks taste so  g o o d
Horace totally revamps his own diet to match yours and is the most supportive boyfriend ever
Enoch makes fun of him a lot for it
Horace is would be an amazing boyfriend
I didn’t realize how long I made this!! I hope that you like them and I am so sorry that it took me so long to get to this!  I hope that it was worth the wait!

Manic Pixie Swamp Thing
a short story by Laura Garnica
Leo Torres looked at his Apple watch again, his left foot tapping restlessly on the pavement. He ran a large, clumsy hand through his wavy black hair and glanced up at the rising moon. It gets dark so early now.
6:06.
Should I send a text? He wondered. Nah, I’ll give it another five minutes. She’ll be here.
He fidgeted with the straps of his blue face mask. It took some getting used to, even after seven months of living through a pandemic. Leo worked from home, so he rarely went into public spaces, rarely had to bother with putting one on. He still couldn’t get over the discomfort– it made him think of the face-huggers from Alien.
6:07.
He hoped the other café patrons weren’t getting creeped out. Tall brown kid with a backpack lurking on the street corner, practically sweating with nerves despite the chill October air… and this café was in one of the nicer parts of the city, on top of that. An elderly white lady stared him down and clutched her Chanel purse a little tighter as she passed him on the sidewalk. “Maldita vieja bruja,” he muttered with an eye roll. But Leo didn’t want to get a table without his date; it seemed more polite to wait so that they could go to the hostess together. Or am I just overthinking it?
6:08.
Was this even a good idea? Asking out a girl whose face you’ve never seen? Leo’s friends had given him so much shit when they found out she didn’t have social media.
“How do even you know if she’s cute or not?” Sammy had demanded. “It’s practically a blind date– and she’s already deaf.”
Leo bristled. “First of all, she’s just mute, not deaf. And second, there’s more important things than appearance, dick.”
Sammy and their other roommate, Josh, had crept into Leo’s bedroom during his ASL class yesterday to catch a glimpse of their friend’s mysterious crush. Leo had almost burst a vein when he spotted them in the corner of his screen, their goofy faces peering over his shoulder like a couple of kids, barely containing their snickering. The minute class was over, he stormed into the kitchen to glare at them.
Sammy nudged him with a grin. “Bro, she was the only one wearing a mask in her video. You’re telling me she shows up to virtual class like that, every time?”
Leo shrugged, turning pink.
“I mean, she’s always zooming from this café in uptown, so she kinda has to.”
“What, like she hasn’t had internet at home the whole semester?”
Josh looked up from his phone to add “…it’s a little sus, dude.”
“And her name is… Lilin? Is that some crunchy-granola white girl name? Like did they forget to add the ‘a’ for Lilian?”
Leo couldn’t help but crack a smile at this. It was kind of a weird name.
Josh started laughing– “Ey, maybe that’s the answer, Sam. Maybe her family is the hardcore hippy type– you know, like the ones who believe in chemtrails and don’t even own a microwave or a tv.”
Whatever. She was nice, and she was really sweet when they got paired up in class last week. Besides, she was way better at ASL than him, and she didn’t seem to mind helping him out. She was a good listener, too… although she didn’t offer up much information about herself, so it was a pretty one sided conversation. Have to remedy that today, he thought.
6:10.
A slender girl with silky white-blonde hair that fell to her hips emerged from the crowded crosswalk. Her dark eyes sparked with recognition when she spotted Leo, who began enthusiastically waving an arm in the air in front of Cafe Étude. She wore a burgundy sundress over a black turtleneck and tights, with a black mask made of some kind of silky material. Leo adjusted the collar of his button down nervously.
Hi, he signed.
Hi, Leo. Nice to finally meet you in person, she replied, her spidery hands moving far more deftly than his.
He nodded towards the podium by the entrance of the café, and they walked up to the bored-looking hostess together.
“Table for two?” she drawled. “Sit anywhere you like,” gesturing to the recently expanded outdoor seating, each metal table placed a careful six feet apart from the next, spilling over the sidewalk into the street.
“Thanks,” Leo replied. They found an empty table in the corner of the outdoor seating area nearest to the café itself. Leo slung his backpack off his shoulders and leaned it against one of the table legs, rummaging around for his school binder and lecture notes. He felt her dark eyes watching him even before he resurfaced, arms full of papers and notebooks and his beat up laptop. She had such a curious presence about her… Or I’m just not used to being around new people anymore, he thought sheepishly. Still, Leo found himself reluctant to meet those strange eyes.
I’m glad you asked me to study with you. It’s better signing in person than over Zoom, she relayed. She bent down to gather her own laptop out of her satchel, white-blonde hair falling in a curtain over her face. It was sort of absurd, how long it was. Leo hadn’t seen a girl with hair that long since elementary school days. As she tucked it behind her ear, he got a glimpse of the edges of her mask– it was definitely one of those fancy ones, because it covered every inch of her face below the eyes, and tied behind her ears instead of relying on the usual cheap elastic bands.
What is it? she signed.
Leo felt his face flush in embarrassment.
Your hair. It’s really long.
She didn’t blink. Leo’s hands stuttered.
In a good way! It’s pretty, I mean.
Her eyes crinkled ever so slightly– the barest hint of a smile. She popped open her laptop– an old PC, no stickers– and the blue-aproned waiter returned, hovering over them with a notepad. Leo quickly asked Lilin what she wanted.
“One latte and one iced earl grey tea, please. And uh, some toast, too.” The waiter scurried away, and Leo smiled at Lilin under his mask, before realizing she probably couldn’t tell if he was smiling, either.
He remembered she had mentioned moving to the city recently, and asked her how it had been, transitioning during a pandemic.
It was… okay, she replied, her hands moving much more slowly now. It’s just me, so… there wasn’t much to move.
Oh. Where are you from, anyways? Sorry, I feel like I should know that.
At this she paused, dark eyes boring into him, unblinking.
Very far from here. You wouldn’t know it.
A tense silence formed and began to stretch between them– Leo unsure of how to reply when she so clearly didn’t want to open up.
Thankfully their waiter returned before the awkwardness became unbearable, balancing a plate of toast and their two drinks in small ceramic cups.
“Ah, thank you so much,” Leo called to the waiter as she left their table.
“You mind if I…?” he gestured to his face.
I promise I’m good, I just took a test on Monday (it was negative) and I took my temperature before I came here, he signed.
Lilin nodded, the strange look in her eyes gone. Leo sighed with relief as he removed his cloth mask, folding it neatly in his lap. He smiled nervously. Why was she so cagey when I asked about where she moved from? he thought. He grabbed a slice of toast from the plate and started nibbling on it, flipping through yesterday’s lecture notes. He looked up at the sound of her grabbing her glass of tea, and tried to hide his excitement. Leo tried not to stare as she carefully adjusted the cup a few inches to the right of her laptop. No reveal. She caught him staring and he fixed his face so his disappointment wasn’t so palpable. Lilin said nothing, but he felt like she was smirking at him.
Their study session passed by quickly, Lilin often stopping to ask if he needed help, or creating conversation. He found himself telling her about his siblings back home, his longtime interest in languages, his love of animals. She had very little to say when he asked the same questions of her, but that seemed to be her MO so he quickly gave up on pushing her.
You raised pigs yourself? she asked, her eyes incredulous.
Damn, this really is a good way to practice, he thought as he struggled to convey that the agriculture program was a big deal in a small, rural town like his. Not to mention he grew up on a ranch for half his childhood.
Did you feel bad for them? She asked.
Who, the pigs? Yes. Worst part.
Her eyes narrowed in what was either a concerned frown, or a strange half smile, he couldn’t be sure.
She never took off her mask once, not even to try the toast. By nine, they had covered the entire midterm practice exam.
Cafe Étude began closing up shop, so Leo and Lilin began to pack up their things as well.
How are you feeling about the midterm next week? Lilin signed.
Do you think you still need more practice? If you want to keep going tonight, I don’t mind. She slung her satchel over her shoulders and stared at him expectantly. Leo chuckled nervously.
“Yeah, I definitely feel better about it, but knowing myself, that probably doesn’t mean much. I don’t wanna put you out though, Lilin! It was really nice of you to even meet up with me to study in the first place.”
She stepped closer to him, and the scent of seaweed and ocean brine tickled his nostrils. The city was thirty miles from the nearest beach, but suddenly that didn’t seem to matter in the moment.
It’s okay, Leo, I’m happy to help. You’re very nice. This was a nice study… date.
Leo felt his face burning under his mask. I mean, this was going pretty well but I didn’t think it was going THAT well, he thought incredulously.
He started when he felt a cold hand enveloping his, Lilin trailing her long fingers across his palm. Her eyes, so dark and deep, unblinking on his. It felt like his head was leaving his shoulders, like those strange, lovely eyes were hypnotizing him. He slowly reached towards her ear, hands trembling as he brushed the edge of her mask with his fingertips. Then her hand was around his wrist like a vice, pulling it away from her face with barely restrained force. She let go to sign, her hands moving quickly, urgently.
No, not here. Let’s finish studying at my place? I live alone.
Everything felt so far away, like Leo was watching the scene unfold from the comfort and distance of a movie theater seat. Getting his hands to reply felt like having to wade through deep water.
Okay.
Her cold hand was on his again, and before he knew it the café was far behind, as well as the bustling streets of mid-city. The streetlights became infrequent, their light a dull orange on quiet sidewalks where rows of identical, impassive houses loomed over the couple. Leo didn’t recognize this part of town, it seemed strangely empty. He found that he couldn’t even remember what streets they had taken to get there. Lilin hadn’t let go of his hand since they had started walking, so they walked in silence. That odd scent continued to waft behind her, that briny, seaweed smell. Her hand was so cold and clammy, and even though his was like a radiator it hadn’t warmed in the slightest. Yet still, Leo couldn’t find it in himself to be worried. Her white-blonde hair flowing over her shoulders, those dark, dark eyes. It was enough just to see her, be near her. There was something special about her, he felt.
At last Lilin came to a halt, and let go of his hand to sign we’re here.
It was a bland house similar in style to its neighbors on that long, endless street, converted into apartments, all of which looked empty. Leo realized that there hadn’t seemed to be any places with their lights on since they’d turned on this street.
Lilin rummaged around in her bag for keys, then led him up the porch stairs to the red door on the left. Leo took out his phone to offer some light as she fumbled with the lock in the dark. A harsh scraping sound and then the click of the door being opened– strange, Leo thought. No service out here. He gently tapped her shoulder.
Hey, Lilin, does your phone have service? he signed. She simply stared at him for a moment before stepping into the pitch-black hallway. Leo waited for lights to come on, but they never did– instead, the rusty scrape of a match could be heard, and there was Lilin lighting a candle wall sconce as if it was the most normal thing in the world. But still… something in him told him it was just part of her nature, not to worry. Candle light seemed to suit her better, somehow. Yes, this was how it was supposed to be. He stepped through the doorway into the velvety darkness.
It was cold. The air felt stagnant, like the place hadn’t seen fresh air in weeks.
Lilin blew out the lit match and took the candle she had lit from its sconce, using it to light the other candles scattered throughout the hallway. The flames seemed to duplicate each time one was lit, until he realized that there were mirrors of all different sizes covering the drab walls. It was a rather small foyer with a single doorway at the end. Whatever was beyond that doorway was a mystery; the darkness was a door of its own, obscuring whatever lay beyond their little circle of candlelight. She dropped her satchel to the floor with a thunk, not even giving it a second glance. Once the hall candles were lit, she walked back to Leo and placed the candle in his hand, gently wrapping his fingers around its base.
I want to show you something, Leo, she signed. He swallowed thickly, a nervous smile spreading slowly under his mask. It was cold, but he felt lucky. She chose me, he thought sluggishly.
Lilin reached for the bottom of her skirt and pulled her dress over her head in a quick fluid motion. She tossed the garment into the dark, unlit room adjacent to the foyer. In shock, all Leo could do was continue to stand there holding the candle, staring like an idiot. Lilin moved on to her boots, her tights, and then before he could process any of it, she was naked, save for her mask. Her body was thin, so thin her ribs protruded from her abdomen. Her skin was the same uniform milky paleness, almost translucent in areas that it stretched thinly over her bones. Not a single freckle or mole or distinguishing mark, just that smooth white glow. Almost like the belly of a fish, a thought came to him from far, far away. Her long hair gleamed in the candlelight, sections covering her nakedness like a Renaissance painting.
She walked slowly, deliberately around him till he felt cold, slender arms tenderly wrapping around his waist from behind. Her skin was even colder than the air in the room– it made him shiver, and yet, seeing their reflection in the mirrors around them gave him that strange sense of belonging again– she chose him. He was lucky, wasn’t he? Her hands ran over the front of his jacket, unzipping it, and he felt her chin rest gently on his shoulder.
Leo barely felt the heat of the candle wax that was now dripping down his hand. Somewhere, some small part of him wondered what the fuck was going on. And still, he could do nothing, say nothing… He wanted to leave, but he had to see her face. He had to. Then things would make sense, then he could leave.
“Lilin…”
And then her spidery fingers were reaching behind her ears, the whisper soft sound of the silk ties running through her hair as she loosened the mask. Through the mirror before them, her eyes did not leave his, did not blink. It was so cold, he realized, so cold in that hallway. The flickering candlelight cast strange shadows on the walls and floors, whose spaces between the mirrors he saw were blank and dingy. No photos, no decorations, no windows, either. The wax burning his flesh felt so far away now.
Lilin slowly pulled her mask from her face, the ties trailing against his shoulder, and Leo watched through the mirror with absurd fascination as she revealed an empty black hole where her nose should have been. The skin of her face was drawn tight, like plastic stretched over a skull. A mouth that was like a fresh gash on her face, her lips raw and red and far too long– her smile nearly stretched from ear to ear.
Lilin let her mask fall softly to the floor before wrapping her arms around him again, tighter. Leo found that he could not move. Maybe he hadn’t been able to move this whole time. He couldn’t even move his head to look back at the door. Was there a door to begin with? The memory of the keys and the flashlight and the sound of the lock scraping open felt like memories from another lifetime.
What time is it? Their faces next to one another in the mirror looked almost comical; a study in opposites. His own face, still somehow so calm and relaxed. But there wasn’t anything to worry about, anymore, really.
Lilin’s strange, awful mouth began to move. Those red, raw lips parting to reveal a crimson mouth lined with row upon row of long, thin, glittering teeth.
Teeth like an anglerfish, he thought to himself from far away, with strange amusement.
A voice like a scream, a song like a dirge filled the dark corners of the room.

A Warm Place (FE: Three Houses Short Fic)
Child!Byleth Professor AU (Golden Deer)
After choosing the Golden Deer class to teach, the tiny professor’s life begins to change, for better or for worse.
Golden Deer Sequel to Part 1
——
Child!Byleth Post Masterlist here!
——
Byleth walked into the Golden Deer class after his meeting with Rhea. He decided to teach them because it seemed like they were a good crowd and didn’t have too many problems.
Truth be told, Byleth only worried about Leonie and Lorenz from the way they acted during their introductions.
The tiny professor would soon regret underestimating the class’s sanity.
Jeralt wanted to tag along with Byleth in meeting the class but Rhea had pulled him away for some unknown reason. With that, Byleth walked into the class alone and stood in front of the group.
(Hilda) “Oh hey, it’s that kid again!”
(Leonie) “YOU!”
(Lorenz) “I do hope you’ve come to apologize young man!”
(Byleth) “…Is Claude here?”
(Claude) “Hey there, kiddo. What brings you here?”
(Lysithea) “My goodness, can anyone give him the proper respect he is due? I’m so sorry for their rudeness, professor!”
(Everyone) “…”
(Raphael) “Wait a second, this cute kid is our professor?!”
(Claude) “HAHAHA! Oh, that’s a good one, Lysithea!”
(Marianne) “I-I um…Don’t think she’s joking.”
The class turned to Byleth who was looking at them with the most dead pan expression they had ever seen in their lives.
(Byleth) “I found the joke amusing too until I realized Rhea was serious.”
(Hilda) “…Oh my gosh, he really is our professor.”
(Lorenz) “What?! Why on earth would they choose someone so young to be a professor?”
(Claude) “Ain’t it obvious? The little teach here chose this class to get to know me better. I’m flattered, really.”
(Byleth) “…”
(Claude) “Yikes, not even a chuckle? Er, whoops now that you’re our professor I guess I should choose my words more carefully.”
(Byleth) “I don’t mind.” Heavens forbid I try and you all ignore me anyway.
(Raphael) “Yeah, seeing as we’re your seniors I guess it makes sense! Oh, does that mean we get to be your big bros and sisters?”
(Hilda) “How am I being taught by someone so much younger than me?”
(Lysithea) “He’s the same age as me and I’m just as surprised, honestly.”
(Leonie) “I think I can see it. After all, he’s a kid after the former captain of the Knights, Jeralt! There’s no way he isn’t worthy, even if he DOES have a smart mouth…”
(Hilda) “Judging a kid based off his lineage alone is a bad idea, Leonie. Right, Marianne?”
(Marianne) “Y-Yes. I agree..”
(Ignatz) “Wait Claude, didn’t you see him firsthand a little bit ago?”
(Claude) “That I did. He was quite impressive for someone that young! Regardless of how you all and the others see him, he’s got my seal of approval!”
(Raphael) “Let’s have a welcoming party! I’ll go get the meat!”
(Lorenz) “How savage. I prefer to get to know our professor through some tea! He may be young, but that’s the exact reason why he should learn how to talk like a no-”
(Raphael) “What?! You can’t have a party without the meat, Lorenz!”
(Lorenz) “Please stop speaking. Your commoner antics are quite grating on the Noble ears-”
(Claude) “Hah, as you can see little Teach, our crowd here’s a rowdy bunch. But hey, it’ll be more exciting for you, right?”
(Byleth) “I suppose.”
(Claude) “Well I hope you’re looking forward to the year as much as I am.”
Byleth gave a simple nod, and the class erupted into conversation, talking about how young he was among other things.
He slowly but surely began to regret choosing this class.
Few Weeks Later…
The way Byleth instructed his class was nothing short of draconian.
Byleth being a mercenary knew there was only one way for kids to learn, and that was to get firsthand experience.
While Byleth did lecture to his class, most of the experience the Golden Deer class got was field studies on the training grounds, learning the ins and outs of combat.
He incorporated the knight’s teachings into his training demonstrations, but was the most unorthodox out of Manuela and Hanneman.
The first thing he said to his class when getting into the training ground was:
(Byleth) “Following the Knight’s teachings to the book will get you killed. I’ve seen idiots from other mercenary companies who diverted from the Knights lose their limbs from being too predictable.”
So, he encouraged free form training as soldiers in order to prevent rigid training practices, and to keep his students alive.
Though from the way he usually spoke to them, they were more of soldiers than they were students.
After training one day…
(Byleth) “Class is dismissed. Please remember we have practical exams tomorrow, and rest up properly.”
Hilda let out a sigh upon hearing the words “practical exams”.
His version of exams weren’t simply writing what you knew on a piece of paper. You had to physically demonstrate it in the training grounds against classmates to make sure you understood the material.
Ignoring the sigh, Byleth nodded and began organizing his papers as the class left and the bell rang.
(Claude) “Man, kid needs to lighten up. I don’t think I’ve seen him smile once.”
(Ignatz) “Yeah, it’s a little intimidating honestly.”
(Hilda) “And he’s so young too, shouldn’t he be more expressive?”
(Lysithea) “I admit while I’m quite serious, he takes it to a whole other level. Maybe we just need to talk to him about it?”
(Leonie) “Hey, why don’t we ask Hanneman and Manuela about him? They’ve been in professor council meetings with him right?”
(Lorenz) “That seems like the most logical path.”
(Raphael) “A kid his age should be enjoying the breeze and sun with other kids, not cooped up in some classroom all day!”
(Marianne) “Um, that’s not really why we’re going to the others, Raphael…”
The Next Day…
After the Practical Exams, Byleth was about to head back to the classroom and grade everyone’s performance until Claude stepped in his way.
(Claude) “Hey, little teach! Ya got a sec?”
Byleth looked up blankly, seemingly not caring what he was about to ask.
(Byleth) “How can I help?”
(Claude) “You doing anything this afternoon?”
(Byleth) “Grading your performances, but that is it.”
(Claude) “Well, I was wondering if you wanna catch lunch with the class? Ya know, bond with the students and all that?”
(Byleth) “Sure. May I ask why?”
(Claude) “…”
Tumblr media
“Dear, that child does not even know what the word “fun” means. He won’t listen to me because he thinks I don’t take my work seriously enough. He’s like Hanneman but worse! A cute little kid like him shouldn't be acting like a 70 year old man.”
Tumblr media
“Ignoring that spiteful comment, I am in agreement. I think a bit of levity would do him wonders from what Byleth has told us about his methods of teaching. We are relying on you and the rest of your classmates.”
(Claude) “It’s cause I haven’t seen you take a break is all! You should be enjoying your youth. That reminds me, I should get on Lysithea’s case about that too…”
(Byleth) “I see. Well then, let’s get the rest of the class.”
Claude nodded and got everyone’s attention. To Byleth though, they seemed to agree a bit too fast. Even someone as lazy as Hilda was quick to jump in on this. Deciding not to dwell on it, Byleth followed Claude out into the Mess Hall.
Everyone sat down next to each other, or more accurately, near Byleth.
The tiny professor was beginning to suspect something was up, but when he heard everyone talking, nothing seemed particularly forced. For once he decided to let down his guard and just enjoy some time with his students. Now that he thought on it, this was only the second time they ate as a class.
(Lysithea) “So professor, are you enjoying your time at Garreg Mach?”
Byleth shrugged.
(Byleth) “Guess so. You all don’t seem as bad as I thought you were going to be.”
(Leonie) “I’d be delighted if you didn’t add that last part. How bad DID you think about us?!”
(Hilda) “You all need to be reigned in, you’re all like a bunch of animals!”
(Lorenz) “Pft, speak for yourself, Hilda! I saw you during that exam, you were barely putting any effort in!”
(Hilda) “I did put effort in, excuse you!”
(Marianne) “G-Guys, we’re supposed to be eating…”
(Byleth) “Heh…”
Everyone suddenly turned to Byleth, who was looking at everyone with an eyebrow raised.
(Claude) “Teach, was that a laugh? My goodness, the kid’s human after all!”
(Ignatz) “H-Hey, don’t be mean to him!”
(Byleth) “Don’t worry about it Ignatz. I suppose I haven’t exactly been…the most friendly of professors.”
(Raphael) “You can say that again! Everyday you look like you wanna kill us!”
(Lorenz) “Oh for goddess’s sake, Raphael watch your tone!”
(Byleth) “It’s fine, really. I apologize for my lack of…emotions they’re…something I’m not familiar with.”
(Leonie) “Wait, what?”
(Lysithea) “That’s a little absurd. Surely you’ve experienced things like joy and pain, right?”
Byleth shrugged as he put a bit of his meal onto his spoon.
(Byleth) “I think? Not sure honestly. I never had time to think about it, and even when I did, it wasn’t important to the mission.”
Everyone looked a little sorry now. It wasn’t that Byleth didn’t care about showing emotions, it was the fact he doesn’t know how to show it.
(Claude) “Well no worries, little teach! We’re here to change that around for ya!”
(Marianne) “With our class, I think all he might know is annoyance…”
Lorenz and Hilda spat out their drinks while Claude began laughing hard.
Byleth watched the chaos unfold as the class spoke amongst each other, the lunch becoming much more livelier.
Byleth’s memories started flashing of when he and Jeralt were dining with his mercenary company, being loud and obnoxious.
Most of the time, Byleth had been alone from both Jeralt and the other mercenaries, so he was starting to get a bit homesick.
But seeing the class interact like this gave him more than a little comfort.
It was going to take some time, but eventually Byleth knew he was going to like this class a lot more than he thought.
(Byleth) “I guess we should do this more often.”
With no one looking at him, Byleth had a small smile creep up on him, going back to the meal as Claude and Lorenz began to bicker, the rest of the Golden Deer chiming in.
(Byleth) “You’re no mecenaries but…You all will do.”
And this was the first steps of many for the class of the Golden Deer down a path together.

Why The Dragon Prince Season 3 messed up
SO I pRoMiSed YoU aN EssAY about why the third season of The Dragon Prince disappointed me, and as I'm arrogant enough to assume that you are interested in my opinion, I post it here. ;)
*rolling drums*
King Harrow sums up the conflict as a narrative of endless vengeance, wrongs on both sides, that had to be redeemed whatever the cost. When the Dragang finds the egg, they think about the peace that could come.
Tumblr media
But when Rayla shows it to Runaan, he tries to kill her, then goes to murder Harrow. He learnt nothing from what happened and is just trapped into that eye-for-eye scheme. At this point, Runaan represents not only Xadia's ideology, but also the whole world scheme. The world is blinded by this narrative of revenge, so blinded that they refuse to considerate peace even at the cost of relatives -and yes, I’m including Viren if “the world”. So there's no guarantee that returning that egg will stop the war, especially that, as far as we know, it was the queen of the dragons herself who ordered this assassination mission.
Tumblr media
And Xadians don't stop there. They seem to work actively on kindle the fire. Elves are gathering at the Breach and attack human fortresses. And, just watch the episode where Soren attacks a dragon. Yes, Soren attacked first. But that dragon was flying over the city for days, fully aware of tensions, fully aware that humans were on their nerves after the kingslaying. If he just meant to afraid the people, he could just have left after dodging Soren's arrow; or simply destroy the tower, then leave. But he doesn't. Instead, he destroys the tower, then almost reduces the city to ashes, with the people still inside. When Callum finds out about it, he first doesn't understand why Rayla wants to save this dragon; but she explains him about the narrative of vengeance, that someone has to do something to break the cycle, even if she has to die for it. But she doesn't totally succeed and humans try to kill her, and the dragon gravely hurts a few of them before finally leaving. Even if, unlike Runaan, that dragon finally understood the hope the Dragon Prince was representing for the world (or perhaps he just flew away to warn Queen Zubeia), this doesn't erase the fact that he burnt down a whole city for no reason.
Tumblr media
And Viren knows about that. Elves and dragons have exiled humans because they found a way to stop being considered as lesser beings who deserved nothing more than starvation. A quite unethical way, yes, but Elves could just give humans a bunch of Primal Stones if they wanted them to stop Dark Magic. No, instead, the Elves and Dragons exiled a whole people on sterile lands, Trade of Tears/Grapes of Wrath style, then ruthlessly killed all those who dare to pass nearby the border. Maybe the elves see it as a guarantee, a shield which prevent humans from doing unethical things. But to humans, that's just a knife over their throat. When they manage to get rid of that knife, elves and dragons just declare war on them, fully aware that they won't be able to defend.
Viren sees himself as the Jon Snow of the story, he wants to prevent a genocide, but no one is listening to him because they don't feel directly threatened. And the elves, in my opinion, had no intention of attacking the four other kingdoms, since their kings took no action against them (not even Duren). But if we set in Viren's shoes (Viren who saw his friends dying right before his powerlessness because of those damned critches), his point of view makes sense. He is also trapped into an eye-for-an-eye mindset -after all he is the one who murdered Thunder to avenge Sarai, and he is also trapped in a "protect my people whatever it takes." Just as the elves.
Tumblr media
“That’s horrible, Viren.” “We have no choice.” “Story of your life in two sentences bro”
The heroes' job is to stop this, to break the wheel. To save lives from both sides -but more from the human side, given how Harrow qualifies this conflict "unwinnable war".**The thing is, in season three, the heroes didn't stop the war.**Well, effectively they did, but because they chose a side over the other. That was quite an easy choice to them, for their enemies were no more humans but soulless monsters. But that's exactly where the problem is.
The narrative brutally decided to caricature the conflict into a good VS bad framing :
Magic creatures are actually super friendly with humans!
Tumblr media
“Team Daenerys 4ever”
"Trees to meet you Callum! Yes I know, I was fully OK with my husband and daughter going into a suicide-squad to murder your father and brother, but no, I don't hate you, I think you are a wonderful person and that the world needs to hear a message of peace!" And the human army meets absolutely no resistance from the Xadians, that’s a proof Xadians were absolutely not hostile and humans are mean, racist, awful warmongers invading a land of peaceful rainbowed creatures! And the Dragon Queen is super happy about her baby's return and peace's arrival, so happy that she completely forgets -and so as the characters, that SHE sent those assassins over Harrow, and that her husband spent his whole life killing humans. And of course, the cast, including Soren, totally forgot about that dragon who burnt a whole city down, because dragons are, I guess, way more badass and cool than mere humans...
Viren stops thinking and being sorry about his actions.
Tumblr media
“No son, I don’t, I was too busy looking like a random bad-guy and admiring a sexy starry butt”
You might say, it's because he now acts instead of just talking. But just look his attitude when Amaya confronts him back in season 1. He's mad about her insinuating he murdered Harrow and even proposes the throne to her because she is the only one apart from himself, who cares about the elves and dragons. When Claudia asks him about Soren's life, he takes a while before responding, and doing so, his face is definitely not some Ozai's one. Or when he steals the king's stamp. He hears the screaming from the fight -he is traumatized by the elves and dragons. He looks at the family portrait, the family that was destroyed partly because of him, and definitely, has deeply sorrowful features on his face, while no one can see him, so there's no one in front of whom to pretend anything. And this isn't the only example of th- What? Season three? hahaha! no, he's definitely not sorry about imprisoning Ezran and shouting to Soren that his life didn't matter the slightest!
Even if he was quite desperate when he was in jail, because he thought humanity was just doomed, this just doesn’t fit...
Oh, and he lost his brain when he gained the crown, and that was totally ridiculous and out-of-character. I mean, given the little we see from Harrow's reign, it was Viren who just handled the whole kingdom for ten years. The cunning king's shadow, who always had a back-up plan to fix Harrow's stupidity thanks to his knowledge, inventiveness, eloquence; the guy who raised Claudia; this guy is now unable to utter a single idea of his own because of a sexy elf’s butt and voice who gives him some validation? Haha. I don't believe it for a second.
And not to mention how kiling him just solved the entire conflict, like he was the one who caused it in the first place. He murdered Thunder and Azymondias and gathered an army to make his crusade, yes. But he acts this way because there already were massive thousands-years-long tensions before. Viren was a product of those tensions, not the direct cause.
But then I suppose it was so much simpler to have a random Iago/Claudius/Richard III/Scar/Jafar/Rasputin/Melissandre...
Oh, speaking of questionable using of fire.
The Cinder-heart soldiers.
Tumblr media
“DRACARYS !!”
When people talk about Dark Magic, they describe it as a shortcut, an easy way, a magic problem-solver that gives a far too proper way to determine what's right and wrong, who has the right to live and who hasn't. Well, with the Cinder heart soldiers, writers do exactly the same. They don't use Dark Magic to address ethic issues as in season 1 and 2, here they use Dark Magic to give the viewer something to thrill about, to draw a neat, clear, proper, defined line between what's right and what's wrong. With those humans turned into soulless monsters, you can say that the elves are right to defend themselves because those monsters are stronger than they are; but you can also say that killing them isn’t such a big deal since they have no soul. Of course, that can be used as a tool to point Viren’s fucked up morality, to point that the greater-good mentality can lead to atrocities. But that just doesn’t work. If they wanted to sum up the absurdity of war, writers could have left the soldiers as they were: humans who think they’re doing the right thing but only lead to disaster.
By making these monsters of those soldiers, by making them Viren’s puppets, by making them extensions of Viren’s will and power, writers frame Viren as the big bad guy who’s fault is everything and who’s death will resolve all the conflict (pretty much how killing the Night King solved the ten-years awaited winter in two seconds).
And if I remember quite well, as illogical, rushed, nonsense, stupid, badly explained and outrageous king Ezran’s abdication was (GOD, that was SO STUPID. Ezran is Harrow's son, no doubts), his goal was to save lives. But at the final battle, he happily jumps over a dragon’s back to burn those exactly same lives down -even far more numerous than the ones he pretended to save  His sorrowful look on a single frame is clearly not enough to make me believe he’s sorry. He never addresses or criticizes or points the fact that those creatures were humans, while he is supposed to be the main character of a show about ethics, and while Viren shows doubts several times and justifies his actions which he knows are awful. Kantian Queen Sarai did a whole vegan argument about how killing apparently soulless creatures wasn’t a way to solve problems, and she was presented as right in the long term. Kantian-Rawlian King Harrow rathered die that letting one soldier take his place (but he was bad at math so he didn’t realize how putting 200 guards between himself and invincible assassins threw his calculation down, but that’s another matter.)
Tumblr media
“DRACARYS YEEPEEEEE”
Then their son, the main character, the one who gave up his crown to save a few lives, the one who is supposed to carry the whole breaking-the-infernal-wheel thing, this character doesn’t even blink at the thought of lighting a giant pyre out of those people, Daenerys style. And who could blame him? How could anyone blame him? Those weren’t humans anymore. Those were a bunch of soulless monsters who were running at him to slaughter his friends and family. I don't blame Ezran for killing those. I blame the series for making those and not pulling a question out of it. Do you understand what I mean? The Dragon Prince was about ending an absurd conflict where both sides were wrong but had reasons to fight. But turning a whole side into mindless monsters (including Viren and Claudia, one being blinded by power and a sexy elf’s butt, and the other blinded by her love for her father) just threw that speech away. And not to mentions how their deaths are treated on a comic and cheerful mode (I definitely hate this baker).
Did I say “A whole side ?” Oh, sorry. My bad. I kind of forgot about someone.
Tumblr media
“A Mary-Sue is never late. Nor early. She only arrives when she was meant to.”
How everyone who ever sided against Viren for whatever reason is automatically a good-guy. Callum, Ezran, Soren, Opeli, Amaya, Aanya, Corvus, Gren, the baker (this DAMNED BAKER !!!) … I mean. When Viren came at the other royals asking them for help to avoid bloodshed, queen Aanya said “I won't send my army to face an unknown danger basing myself on a two-minutes speech!”. Very well, she doesn’t want to risk her people’s life because just one single kingdom messed up. That’s not her problem. I fully understand her choice here (even if she could at least enforce defences because Viren’s arguments were pretty valid). But when Opeli comes at her with pretty similar arguments “We need your army to avoid bloodshed”, she just accepts. Of course, we could explain her choice by strategic issues about how taking down three human armies all at once alongside with the magic army just makes her the most powerful human queen ever, even if that outcome was very unlikely given how unbalanced was the scale (I maintain it, how can mere arrows kill a magma berserk ? and even if she was relying on surprise, Viren's army clearly outnumbers gOoD gUyS's, as it was said several times)... But the season doesn’t address those strategic issues. Instead, queen Aanya just seems like Mary-Sue, like some low-cost Gandalf who has no other reason for being here except helping the good-guys against the oh-so-bad Viren. And as you know, good guys are, by essence, not interested in power (tHeY dOn’T wAnT iT)… So she goes to war right when the narrative is okay and when it helps the heroes. And of course, she arrives right when she is needed, even if, to quote Kronk, “by all accounts, it doesn’t make any sense”. (Kronk, who has the same French voice actor as Viren btw).
And about Ezran... even the series says that Viren was right on this point : having a world-war resting on a eight years old king's shoulders is the worst idea ever. Even if this kid has best intentions ever, no one can take him seriously. Not Kaseef, who's father was just slain. Not Saleem. Not even Opeli -whom "you should have someone you can trust to rule this kingdom, someone capable, strong, dignified, loyal, lawful" scene seemed like the most unsubtle manipulation ever, and should have foreshadowed some nuance or lust for power into her.
And about General Amaya…
Tumblr media
“I don’t know why I hate him, but he is so dangerous, so evil, and I hate him so much than I’ll side with the people who murdered my sister and drink my nephew’s blood !!”
Of course, there is only one single guy in the whole human realm who deserves to be called arrogant and rotten to the core. Of course, he is so dangerous, evil and bad-intentioned that she just gets alongside the army she’s been fighting her whole life along, the army whom she believes drink human blood and the army who killed her sister. I mean, even if she distrusts Viren because of how her sister died and how Harrow’s assassination benefits him, don’t forget that she is a human and that Viren is working to defeat elves, just as herself. I’m not saying she’s some awful traitor to her blood or anything, but just that she took her decision far too quickly, and that this decision was far too brutal, too defined, for to be credible for the viewer. But, guess what? She opposed to Viren once! That means she is a good girl, and that everything she does is the right thing, even if she has no reason to do so. And don't make me launched about Opeli...
So, the result of it: it gives the impression that the Sunfire Ordeal of Light was right. Elves aren’t wrong, elves are never wrong because they just have an unmistakable detector for right and wrong. The proof is, it found Amaya to be good and Viren being bad! Because Dark Magic is so bad, you know (sorry to the 100 000 of lives who Viren saved with that magic).
Tumblr media
“You thought you were allowed to be a morally grey antagonist in a kids show? Haha, how bold of you, you fool !”
And of course, no important character dies amongst the “good-guys” side. Also on the bad side actually apart from Kaseef (whom treatment by the narrative was just disgusting), but Viren died before being brought back and Claudia was traumatized for life. The good guys? Oh, thanks for asking. All of them are well and safe because they brought peace by crushing that oh-so-bad Viren and his oh-so-evil-and-soulless army. Ezran and Aanya butchered hundreds of thousands of people by fire and arrows, and Viren died without Callum trying anything to save him, but I guess that was the right thing to do to prove the narrative of love and forgiveness. <3
Tumblr media
“Bye-bye oncle Scar”
And, on the top of that, the icing on the cake, the cherry on the top, "la cerise sur le gâteau" : getting Azymondias back to his mom just solved the entire conflict in one second.
I know the purpose was about stopping the war. But there, the series didn’t stop the war. The series chose a side and forgets about everything that was established in the first two seasons about the complexity and absurdity of war. The series just threw its whole own speech away by ridiculizing Viren, depicting elves and dragons as nothing but kind and gentle, defining a straight line between magic goodies and soulless baddies, and having a thousand years-long conflict resolved in a few seconds.
Do you remember when Harrow described this conflict as “not so simple”, as a thousand years-long conflict where both sides were so filled with hatred to each other that peace was nothing but a naive child dream? Do you remember when Runaan tried to murder his adoptive daughter when she tried to explain that peace was possible? Do you remember when that red dragon burnt down a whole city for no reason? That's a shame because the series doesn’t <3
And that can be explained very simply: NOT ENOUGH EPISODES. If only Netflix agreed to change the format, this series could have obliterated Avatar The Last Airbender or the Alabasta Arc from One Piece (which has a similar plot, but with some bad guys into it from the very start, and in spite of this succeeds into outstandingly depicting the absurdity of war). If only the TDP series has had more time to breathe, to explain and develop characters, motives, depths, events, (especially Ezran's downfall which didn't make any sense) it could have been LEGENDARY
.But instead, The Dragon Prince just ran straight into the trap it was so brilliantly avoiding in season one and two: Manicheism, black-and-white, goodies VS baddies, Simple narrative.
And I don’t even think a fourth season can fix this.
The final picture was too rainbowed, too happy-ending, too simple to be fixed. Yes, there are still “OH SO SOOOO BAD GUYS” and under-plots to explore (Aaravos’s final plan, Viren and Claudia’s trauma, Rayla’s parents including Runaan, Pip, cohabitation between critches and humans), but the series was about the absurdity of war and how characters dealt with it. Once this war is not only over, but also oh-so-happy-ended, I really wonder what’s left to explore. Even Dark Magic ethic, one of the most interesting part of the show to me, is ridiculed. By rushing, they handled their speech in a very clumsy way, and even worse: hypocritical.
The third season threw the series's speech to the trash by a too fast narrative… And I don’t know if I can forgive this.
Reminds me of GoT season eight, actually. But that’s another problem ^^
Thank you for coming to my TED-Talk.
