so this has been bugging me for awhile

tumblr has put out this "video game fictional character" list of what I assume is the top most posted-about video game characters on the site, and honestly, the list has been both enamoring and confusing me since I first saw it. for example:

Ghost from the call of duty series is third on this list. third. beating out shadow the hedgehog, sans undertale, and phoenix wright. is there some massive cod fanbase on this website that I am mercifully unaware of? also worth noting that captain price is twentieth, while john "soap" mctavish is seventh

and then...ignis. ignis, one of the party characters from FFXV. this one really sticks out to me because there are only three final fantasy characters on this list. Ignis, Cloud, and Sephiroth. How the hell is Ignis beating out both Cloud Strife and Sephiroth?? Ignis fan girls please talk to me, I have to know how this guy made it to 63 on this list

this one is just plain funny to me. who the fuck is the daycare attendant and how are they more popular than mario

do not ask me what any of this means. i was just typing. i have no idea what this means. uhhh. faye & hestia interactions! yeag. btw idk if anyone would recall but hestia was 22 at one point; i pushed her age up just slightly to 24.

       "Do you loathe it?"

       Faye laughs—melodiously, but nevertheless void of any actual amusement. Her eyes seem to gleam with curiosity and what Hestia believes to be some level of confusion, but to the vision bearer, it is all too clearly feigned. "Loathe what exactly, Ms. Hestia?"

       The other Fatuus blinks, sunset gaze vaguely flicking in the direction of the Ninth Harbinger's office door a few feet away. Assuming that Pantalone is in there, he would not be able to hear through the thick wood of the door, unless she were to go out of her way to make a scene; Hestia knows this for a certain fact, from experience with her own Harbinger's office (not that Rosalyne is often in her office; her work pertains to the field more than it does to logistics or other background operations, and the phoenix themselves tends to use that office more than its actual owner, but upon occassion, Hestia does find the Eighth Harbinger in there). Therefore, they do not hesitate to elaborate.

       "How he treats you," they finally reply, meeting Faye's violet gaze, swirling with something that they cannot quite place. "You are a dog in his eyes, Ms. Faye. Little more than that, I dare say."

       "...Indeed," comes the woman's slow, calculated response. The songlike tones of her voice have been all but swept away by something far colder. "But I do not loathe it, dear one. Perhaps it is hard for you to understand. You did not come from the same place as I, after all."

       "No. I didn't," Hestia admits, nodding. "It is hard for me to fathom."

       "Think of it this way, then." Faye steps closer, taking a lock of Hestia's wavy hair in between her fingertips. "If an inanimate object is offered a chance to be a tool, does it not appreciate its new role? After all, a tool is wanted, but an object typically is not."

       "But you are no object. This analogy means nothing."

       "Lucky little thing you are, Hestia... you must not know what it is like to be one. Unsurprisingly, I suppose, since we have all seen how your Lady treats you."

       Faye smiles. It is empty in all respects and does not reach her eyes.

       ...But then, she pulls back, and her smile brightens. It is as if she has put the mask she so often dons back on, as if she has retreated back into the facade she oh-so carefully built up for herself over the years.

       (Hestia has always been able to see through Faye, however. Perhaps being raised by little more than the snarling winter winds of Snezhnaya and the occasional piece of advice from her sickly father when he found the strength to speak made them more sensitive to trickery. Regardless of what made her this way, the Crimson Witch's adored little phoenix has always known better.

       Faye knows this, so maybe that was what made her so eager to slip out of her act for even the briefest of moments.)

       "Nevertheless, Hestia, we are all here to serve the same cause. We are all comrades, no?" Comrades. The word seems foreign on Faye's lips; she still carries the slightest of Fontainian accents when she speaks, so it does not surprise Hestia that the word still seems unfamiliar on her tongue... but something nags in the back of her mind that Faye is unfamiliar with the word for another reason. "Let's not create unnecessary tension between one another."

       Hestia hesitates, but nods.

       "Very well, then. Off you go. Return to the Fair Lady's side where you belong."

       'You do not belong here.'

       Here, in the Regrator's unit, on the side of the Winter Palace allocated to him and his operations. That is what Hestia believes Faye is trying to imply, and for once, they agree with the younger woman.

       However...

       "Do not presume to belittle me, Faye." The fire in her eyes flares threateningly. "I have been here far longer than you. Do not forget that. I treat you with respect not out of necessity, but out of my own professionalism."

       Faye's smile twitches.

       "Of course, of course," the Electro-bearer dismisses with an elegant wave of her hand. "I mean no harm. You know this."

       "...Sure, Ms. Faye. If you say so."

       Hestia turns on her heel and, without another word, leaves.

The Phoenix Burns

Chapter 1: Embers of Childhood.

The village of the Kaemonor nestled quietly along the foot of Mount Ignis, a once renowned now dormant volcano said to have been the birthplace of the first dragon. Whilst that was centuries ago and the last whole dragon was rumoured to be deceased, the rugged warmth of the land provided life for both dragon hybrids and the dragonblood (kaemonor) tribe to thrive.

As the villagers of the tribe commenced their morning activities two children raced through the cobblestone path, ignoring the shrieks of woman and the disproved glances from onlookers, their laughter echoing off the stone cottages. The taller of the two, Bakugou Katsuki, would chase after the girl, grinning wildly as he attempted to take back his ruby stone necklace that was now held high above y/n's head, the chain glinting in the sunlight as she called out mockingly,

"Too slow Dragon Boy!". Bakugou's crimson eyes gleamed with determination as he ran faster not noticing the group of older village boys waiting for the two at the end of the path. It was y/n to first bump into on of them, a small groan escaping her mouth as she looked back up at the towering boys. Bakugou would stand beside his brows twisted in annoyance at the interruption as he snarled at the 5 older boys.

"well look who we have here, the prince of the dragonblood tribe with an orphan"

"look at her she's doesn't look anything like us"

"why is she so dark"

y/n would snarl her head now tilting to the challenge the other five.

"say that again I dare you"

Bakugou would watch in amusement proud of his friend's courage whilst also getting ready to beat the others up. Whilst his quirk hadn't come yet he was skilled in battle for his age, thanks to Mirko's training.

"who do you think you're talking to girl?!"

a brown haired boy would yell stomping towards her to slap her only to get pushed himself. The two would nod in mutual understanding at what was to come before they took to fight, y/n pulling one boy's hair whilst biting another whilst bakugou punched another in the face. Despite their chaotic energy however the two were no match for five older boys. Whilst bakugou was restrained he'd watch a kid slap y/n harshly on the cheek, the heat of the slap tainting her brown skin a light pink shade. His anger continued to boil as he watched them take turns in tugging her hair or kicking her, ignoring his own beating he was experience before he couldn't take it anymore. The large explosive blast was sent of towards the older guys, the heat of the blast shocking everyone enough to have all 5 boys running off screaming in fear. Y/n and Bakugou only stared at each other. "your quirk..." the girl would whisper both amazed and surprised whilst Bakugou stared at his hands. The day had come that his quirk would appear.

Whilst it was to be celebrated the young prince did not avoid the lecture his mum, the queen, was to give in front of both his friends and y/n. His mum would then move to y/n hugging the girl as she reassured her that she was still loved and cherished by all regardless of what the boys had said. Bakugou was young but not naive. He had gathered y/n was not from his tribe nor was she of dragonblood. What he wouldn't understand until much later that she belonged to the Malabar tribe in southern india, her mother being childhood friends with his own had left her daughter to be found on a boat and brought safely to Queen Mistuki. The suryan tribe, now deceased, had been acclaimed for their shared ability to absorb energy from the sun, some could reconstruct energy, others could blast it, some could even read energy waves and patterns. And yet their shared power is what drove their tribe to be hunted down and murdered by All for One. Rumours had it that someone born into the clan had the abilities to destroy the demon king however this was never confirmed and what was left of the tribe was ashes and blood.

"apologise now all of you!"

the queen would demand. Whilst the young boys would cower and plea for forgiveness bakugou would huff in annoyance before rolling his eyes and apologising himself. y/n on the contrary would apologise immediately however as the boys walked off she'd make sure to stick her tongue out mocking the lot.

"y/n i saw that"

Damien chuckles and absorbed the fire before it did any damage.

This is accomplished through the Heart, wherein lies a secret umbilicus that is projected into the burning center of the Aves Ignis (“Bird of Fire”). This has many names but is verily the ancient and literal Dart of Eros. The means of projection may only be learned in the moment of its projection, and this, again, cannot be described, only performed.

Once this vital communion has been established it is then possible for the Initiate as the Phoenix itself to arise as a vehicle for Ascension and traverse the realms of the Zoösphere with impunity and knowledge.

The Initiate has then become what was once imagined, and what has been imagined has once more arisen and become what it has always been, what it is, and what it shall be: the immortal Phoenix of Eternity, the veritable reality of the Zoösphere in Manifestation and Perfect Form.”
