قال تعالى: "إِنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا يُنفِقُونَ أَمْوَالَهُمْ لِيَصُدُّوا عَن سَبِيلِ اللهِ فَسَيُنفِقُونَهَا ثُمَّ تَكُونُ عَلَيْهِمْ حَسْرَةً ثُمَّ يُغْلَبُونَ وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا إِلَىٰ جَهَنَّمَ يُحْشَرُونَ". الأنفال: 36

إنهم ينفقون أموالهم، ويبذلون جهودهم، ويستنفدون كيدهم في الصد عن سبيل الله، وفي إقامة العقبات في وجه هذا الدين، وفي حرب العصبة المسلمة في كل أرض وفي كل حين؛ والله سبحانه ينذر الكفار الذين ينفقون أموالهم ليصدوا عن سبيل الله بأنها ستعود عليهم بالحسرة، إنهم سينفقونها لتضيع في النهاية، وليُغلبوا هم وينتصر الحق في هذه الدنيا، وسيُحشرون في الآخرة إلى جهنم، فتتم الحسرة الكبرى.
