Cartoon Beetlejuice's Height.

I saw a post around here a few weeks ago, where someone asked what Cartoon Beetlejuice's canonical height is. So I did the work:

All of this is done in inches to feet, but final calculations will be shown in centimeters. I had to start with the canonical height of Lydia. 

Lydia was pretty easy to figure out, according to Stanford Medicine on children’s health. The average 12 year old is 55 to 64 inches or 4’5 to 5’3.

Now I’m going to put Lydia on the shorter side of 4’5.

When you place Lydia next to her mother, Delia, the top of her head comes to about to her waist. So if Delia is 4’5 at the waist, the average torso is 16 inches (worldmetrics.org), 4’5+16=5’9 https://worldmetrics.org/average-torso-length/

So if Delia is 5’9 from foot to shoulders, if we add in the average height of a human head (according to the National Library of Medicine) is 18 to 20 cm OR 7 inches. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2828153/

5’9+7= 6’4.

So at MINIMUM Delia is 6’4. Since Charles and her are roughly the same height, then Charles also sits at a comfortable 6’4. 

Beetlejuice is a little hard to gage because he often floats or generally has bad posture. So I’m working with what is him at his most vertical. 

Looking at this pictures of him next to Lydia, she’s just a bit under his shoulder. I admittedly had to measure myself for this, but, with my arm stretched directly vertical, shoulder to axilla: My shoulder height is 4.5 inches. 

So if we add Lydia’s 4’5 + 4.5 inches = 4’9 inches. 

Beetlejuice is roughly 4’9 at the shoulders. 

With the additional 7 inches of the average human head: 4’9 + 7 =  5’4. 

At minimum Beetlejuice is 5’4.

Now, we reach the problem of the average 12 year old being 55 inches (4’5)  to 64 inches (5’3). 

So let’s do the math with Lydia at 5'3 (64in).

Starting number = Lydia: 5’3 (height)

Delia: 5’3 at the hips + 16 inches as a torso = we hit 6’7 + 7 inch vertical for her head: 7’2. With the additional height, Delia and Charles round off to a towering: 7’2. Beetlejuice: Starting at Lydia’s 5’3 + 4.5in for the shoulder = 5’7 + 7 inches for the head = 6’2. 

So, that would place Beetlejuice at 6’2.

Our numbers: Set A: Lydia: 4’5 (134cm) Delia and Charles: 6’4 (198cm) Beetlejuice: 5’4 (162cm) 

Or on the opposite end of the spectrum  =  Set B: Lydia: 5’3 (160cm) Delia and Charles: 7’2 (218cm)  Beetlejuice: 6’2 (187cm) 

Looking at the World Population Review, https://worldpopulationreview.com/state-rankings/average-height-by-state, the average height of an American citizen living in Connecticut is, for Men (5’10) and Women (5’4). With Set B we see that Delia and Charles come to and outlandish, 7’2. Which makes me feel pretty comfortable that Lydia is NOT 5’3 and that Beetlejuice is NOT 6’2. 

Our most reasonable set of numbers, is Set A. Now Delia and Charles are still insanely tall coming in at 6’4, but it seems more manageable of a height that falls within a conceivable range of a typical human being.

I feel very comfortable saying that: Lydia is 4’5 (134cm), Delia and Charles are 6’4 (198cm), and Beetlejuice is 5’4 (162cm). With maybe 1-3 inches to spare because of his heels.

Beetlejuice is 5’4. At minimum.
