today was sunday, and that means you were at your friend's house now, resting your head on your boyfriend's shoulder as he was playing video games on the tv with riki. at the beginning, you were looking at the screen, but as time passed your eyes stopped on jungwon's side profile.

after a few minutes, he passed the control game to sunghoon, now letting him and riki play. your other friends were talking on the other sofa, but you entertained yourself by paying attention to your boyfriend, who was smiling and joking with the younger one, talking about how badly riki was playing that game.

how his cheeks raised every time he smiled, his blonde bangs falling over his big and shiny eyes. and his dimples, those freaking dimples that you loved with your entire soul.

minutes later, riki started talking with sunghoon and jake next to him. your eyes were still on the boy next to you, so you unconsciously raised your hand, which was resting over your thighs, placing your point finger on his dimple. jungwon stopped moving, and only his eyes turned to look at you, not getting away from your touch.

“what are you doing?” he asked in a playful tone, looking at you by the corner of his eye.

“that's cute” you said, and the dimple became more noticeable because his smile became wider. you lightly picked the same place a few times, staring at it. he raised an eyebrow, still gazing at you.

“i'm cute?” he asked now with a smirk on his lips. you put back your hand to your legs again as you nodded.

“yeah” now you came close to his face, placing a kiss on his cheek, right when his dimple was. immediately, a more wide smile started to appear on his lips. “very much.”

“ew, we don't want to watch your clingy interactions,” riki said with a disgusted face. jungwon turned his head to look at him with an evil smile.

“that's the reason you don’t have a girlf— ouch!” you slapped his arm before he could finish as you shook your head, making riki and the rest of your friends laugh and mock him.

you intertwined your hands with jungwon's, making him smile like an idiot again as he looked at you, forgetting his friend's teasing and laughs.

rose and ward were sat peacefully in the living room enjoying their time together when they were suddenly interrupted by the sound of you and rafe arguing as you enter the house.

“don’t walk away from me” you say to your boyfriend, following him into his home through the back door into the kitchen. “i’m walking away because i will literally punch you if i don’t.” rafe says, followed by a stern “hey” from his dad over in the next room.

“go on then, hit me” you laugh, grabbing his arm and yanking him back to turn him around, he stops and faces you in the middle of the kitchen. “hey, stop it, now… both of you” ward says, looking over at you from the living room into the open kitchen.

neither of you give him your attention, not taking your eyes from each others. his breathing is hitched and his face is angry, you can tell he’s trying so hard not to lash out on you in front of his parents.

“…you’re a fucking stupid liar, you know that?” you speak up, breaking the moment of silence out of anger. he took a deep breath in before reaching his hand over to grip your jaw hard, pulling your face closer to his. “say that shit again i dare you” he warns before his dad steps in.

“right, that’s enough” ward raises his voice, stepping up from the couch and rushing over to the kitchen. “fucking. stupid. liar.” you slowly repeat your words while looking into his eyes which sent him over the edge, finally snapping as he lets go of your jaw and slaps you across the face.

the slap was hard, it made your head turn in the other direction and instantly raise your hand to your cheek to cup it. “who do you think you are, huh?” he raises his voice, “rafe, stop it” his dad is quick to pull him back, where he shoves his son in anger. “what the hell’s wrong with you?!” ward yells at rafe as he diverts his attention to his dad now.

“she fuckin’ started it—” rafe yells, pointing over to you who is standing there holding your face with tears in your eyes, his slap hurt like a bitch. “i do not care, rafe, you do not put your fucking hands on her like that, you hear me?” ward shouts, not wanting to hear any kind of excuse for what he just did.

“you just gonna take her side like that?” rafe scoffs a laugh, acting like hitting his girlfriend was a normal thing to do. “i’m not taking sides, rafe, i don’t give a shit what she did, okay? don’t you dare hit her like that” ward shouts, pointing in his sons face as they stand inches apart.

“fucking asshole.” you mumble as you walk away with tears running down your face. “the fuck did you just say?” rafe asks, turning to face you and attempting to follow you out but his dad grabbed him and forced him back. “son, stop it” he practically begs his son with his hands on his shoulders, needing him to calm down. you headed back outside where you shut the door behind you, still hearing them yelling from inside as you walk away.

walking down and out of the driveway, you see john b’s twinkie pull up outside with everyone in it. “y/n?” sarah asks, immediately opening the van door and jumping out to see if you’re okay. “oh, hey” you sniffle, wiping away and attempting to hide your tears from the pogues. “you okay?” john b asks as everyone has their eyes on you who has a red mark on your cheek.

“not really. i wouldn’t go in there, your dad and rafe are arguing like crazy” you say, pointing to her house. “why?” she asks. “well, rafe just hit me so…” you sigh.

“wait what?��

“rafe hit you?”

the pogues in the van spoke up as kiara jumped out to comfort you, too. “yeah…” you say, turning your head to show them the red mark on your cheek. “that’s what that is?” kiara gasps, pulling you into a hug to make you feel better.

“i’m gonna kill him—”

“i don’t think you need to, your dad’s halfway there” you cut sarah off with a scoffed laugh. “ugh… we came so i could grab my surf board, though” sarah says, wanting to go get it but also wanting to avoid her brother who she wants to fight with right now.

“you can use mine, i have a spare” you smile, “hell yeah, come with us” jj says from inside, standing up inside the twinkie to invite you in. “sure…” you giggle, stepping into the van as sarah and kie follow behind you, shutting the door once you were all back inside.

on the drive to your house to grab some swimwear and your surfboards, you tell the pogues what happened between you and rafe. “and he promised me months ago that he wouldn’t touch that shit again, and what did i do? i caught him snorting it” you explain to your friends that rafe had gotten back into his drug habit behind your back after getting clean and promising you he’d be better, until you caught him racking up lines and sniffing them out on his back porch.

“you seriously need to break up with him,” pope says, “yeah, he’s such a prick.” jj adds. you sigh, knowing you should break up with him, but you dread of the fights and arguments it would bring, so you try to avoid it. “yeah, jj’s single if you’re ever in need…” john b says from the drivers seat, making you laugh. jj reaches over and nudges john b, telling him to shut up.

even though you were in the most toxic relationship ever, you were just glad you had your friends there for you whenever you need. they turned a bad day into a good one, and you spent the rest of it at the beach, surfing and having fun.

since a couple of days ago sunghoon, your best friend, has been not answering your calls, not reading your texts. and you don't even know what's going on.

you're starting to get anxious because his friends told you that he is going to college and his job as usual so that made you think that maybe you did something wrong.

today was saturday midnight, so you just put on your hoodie to go to the store to buy some snacks. you usually do this with sunghoon, but since the actual situation you two are in, you're on your own this time.

watching the clock on the wall. you sigh before shutting the door after you.

luckily, the grocery store was just one block away from your apartment, so you got there quickly, entering to grab some bags of random snacks. you are feeling kinda sad, so you just want to eat and watch a movie or something.

once you made your way to give the bags to the cashier, you heard the doorbell ring, and you never turn to look at it, but this time, you casually do, meeting nothing more than your lovely best friend who has been avoiding you.

right, he lived in the neighborhood, and you could have gone to his place to ask him what happened, but you wanted to give him some more days. and it seems like it was tonight. the final day.

he was wearing a black hoodie with the hood covering almost all of his face, bangs over his forehead, dark circles under his eyes, and a death stare. he looked awful.

you keep watching him, hoping he will notice you and explain, but he doesn't. he just entered without looking at nobody, going straight to the snacks section, and grabbing the same one as you.

you paid quickly and left the place, waiting for him outside. you didn't want to make a scene there.

biting the inside of your cheek, you wait another couple of minutes until you finally hear the door. immediately you turn your head and meet his gaze when he raises his head. sunghoon's eyes widened with surprise when he saw your face, blinking twice.

“park sunghoon, what a coincidence..” you say, raising both eyebrows. the anger all over your face is noticed by him.

“hey.. look, i can explain” he started, a smile trembling in his mouth as he approached you with slow steps. you frowned, crossing your arms.

“explain what? that you completely ghosted your best friend without saying a word or giving life signals at all in an entire week?” you pretend to think, staring at him. sunghoon sighed, looking now at the floor.

“you want to come over? i'll.. explain to you” meeting his dark and shiny eyes, your expression softened a little, losing the grip on your arms, making them fall on your sides with the bag in your left hand. you nodded in response.

ten minutes later, you were entering his apartment, which was all in order as always, the clean smell on the air and the tv on. after looking around his place, you looked at him. he made his way to the sofa, and then patted the spot next to him.

“okay, explain” sitting on the sofa by his side, you turn yourself a little to face him.

“actually i don't have an excuse..” his eyes were pinned on his interlocked hands over his thighs. “it was stupid to just ghost you. i just.. i was thinking..?”

“thinking? may i know about what?” you sighed, staring at his hands. he was nervous. “and why you can't look at me?” slightly tilting your head, you try to search for his eyes. sunghoon finally looks up, staring at you.

you had missed him.

“i.. i thought about this a lot, and i didn't want to come this way. i didn't want to happen either, but.. this is so stupid” he sighed, rolling his eyes, biting his bottom lip because he didn't know how to explain. the hood over his head didn't let you see his face properly.

“hoon..” you came closer to him, reaching his head to slowly take the hood off so you could see him. and he let you do it without looking at you.

once you're done, you rest that hand over his, trying to give him some comfort.

“what is it?”

“i like you.”

you stared at him, frozen in place, and he was giving you some eyes that you had never seen on him before.

starting to get more nervous, he tried to get away from your touch, feeling the coming rejection from you. but before he could get up, you grabbed him by his shoulders, keeping his body in place.

“that's why you have been avoiding me? that's the reason why you have those dark circles?” you looked at him with furrowed brows, still grabbing his shoulders. he stared at you in silence. “you're an idiot, y'know?”

“what?”

“why didn't you come to me and talk instead of avoiding me? sunghoon, i was worried. i thought i made something bad to bother you or hurt you, don't know. i was overthinking it all” his face went full of worry when he heard you saying that, and feeling guilty.

“i thought.. i was afraid. i still am” he chuckled, still looking nervous.

“hoon, i like you too. you're so dumb” you start laughing, slipping your hands until they both grab his hands again. sunghoon looked at you with surprise all over his face. “i had a crush on you for almost a year” you shake your head.

“you're kidding.”

“i'm not.”

a bright smile appeared on his face, almost illuminating the whole room. he interlocked his fingers with yours, and before you could talk again, he pounced on you, making you fall over your back, giggling about his sudden affection.

his hands hugged your waist, and his face went on the side of yours, feeling the warmth of it.

“sunghoon are you red?” still laughing, you caress his hair, and he immediately shakes his head, brushing his hair against your cheek. “yeah, you're hot” noticing your own words, you shut your mouth, making sunghoon rise his head, holding a laugh.

“i am?” a smirk appears on his lips, letting you see his fangs. you rolled your eyes, putting one of your hands on his cheek, feeling the heat of his skin.

you nod, smiling. “yeah.”

you finally noticed how close your face was to his and how shiny his eyes looked right now.

caressing his face, your fingers touched his cheeks. and when you were about to take off your hands, he stole you a quick kiss, surprising you.
