🎄 Christmas on Zlatibor, Serbia 🎄
▪️In this heartwarming photo, a family from the Zlatibor region in Western Serbia gathers to celebrate Christmas in the true spirit of Serbian tradition. Grandparents, with their loving smiles, are joined by their grandchildren, all dressed in beautiful traditional Serbian attire. Together, they are breaking the česnica, a special Christmas bread that holds deep cultural and spiritual significance.
▪️Serbs celebrate Christmas on January 7th, following the Julian calendar used by the Serbian Orthodox Church. For Serbs, Christmas is not just a holiday; it is a deeply spiritual occasion centered around family, faith, and the renewal of hope.
🍞Česnica is not just bread—it is a symbol of family unity, hope, and prosperity. A coin is hidden inside before baking, and as the bread is broken among family members, everyone eagerly awaits to see who will find the coin. It's believed that this lucky person will be blessed with good fortune in the coming year.
▪️The warm glow of a candle, the embroidered patterns on their clothing, and the cozy home adorned with rustic decor tell a story of love, connection, and heritage. This scene beautifully captures the essence of Serbian Christmas—moments where the old and the young come together, honoring traditions passed down through generations.
▪️In the Zlatibor region, nestled in the serene mountains, such customs remain alive, filling homes with joy, laughter, and the rich scents of homemade food. It's a reminder of the simple yet profound beauty of togetherness.
▪️Let us celebrate this cherished Serbian tradition and share its warmth with the world. 💫🇷🇸

A česnica (Serbian Cyrillic: чесница, Serbian pronunciation: [tʃěːsnit͜sa]; derived from the noun čest, meaning "share"), also called Božićna pogača (Serbian Cyrillic: Божићна погача, "Christmas pogača") is the ceremonial, round loaf of bread that is an indispensable part of Christmas dinner in Serbian tradition. The preparation of this bread may be accompanied by various rules and rituals. A coin is often put into the dough during the kneading; other small objects may also be inserted. At the beginning of Christmas dinner, the česnica is rotated three times counterclockwise, before being broken among the family members. The person who finds the coin in his piece of the bread will supposedly be exceptionally lucky in the coming year. The česnica was used in folk magic for divining or influencing the amount of crops.

Božićna česnica: kako da je napravite?
New Post has been published on https://recepti-kuvar.rs/bozicna-cesnica-kako-da-je-napravite/?Bo%C5%BEi%C4%87na+%C4%8Desnica%3A+kako+da+je+napravite%3F Recepti+i+Kuvar+online
100 gr margarina
2 kašike šećera
2 kašike soli
500 ml mleka (mlakog)
1 kesica kvasca
Kada kvasac nadođe, mleko i kvasac sipati u brašno i sve dobro izmešati dok ne dobijete glatko testo – okrivno premesiti oko 50 puta.

‘A, MILORADE, TI SI GA DOBIO!’
Hrvatsku je predstavljao premijer Andrej Plenković, ministar vanjskih i europskih poslova Gordan Grlić Radman i ministar pravosuđa i uprave Ivan Malenica.
