I wouldn't say anyone specifically, as I'm getting practice with writing every time I thread with someone, so any of my thread partners has aided me in becoming a better writer in one way or another.

♦ What's an AU that you've always wanted?

Mmmm I can't remember if there is one that i've always wanted. If I really wanted something, I probably either wrote it out in a fic before, or I'm waiting for someone to hit me up on it. There was the one wishlist thing of were-pomeranian Haru and I did get a taker- even if they did leave the RPC not long afterwards- I did still get to try it out. So I did get it lol

♢ What's an AU that you think just won't work with your muse?

I'll make things work. Watch me. I'll find a way. I did a Demon Haru verse once, don't test my powers.

⚜ What is the best time to write for you? Why?

Probably night as i'm usually most awake then. Afternoon is also good for the weekends, because otherwise i'm at work. I don't do so well in the mornings because i'm sleepy.

☆ What type of fantasy AU would you like to do one day?

Mmm idk, i'm pretty open to most things, and the wording makes it sound like I'd have to choose something I haven't actually done. I've done a Demon Haru, I've done a princess Haru, I've done a Yakuza heiress Haru, Varia Haru, Haru who got blasted into the past Haru, Werewolf Haru, Pirate Haru, did try a Pokemon trainer Haru, an AU of Haru never having met the Vongola but still somehow got affiliated with the underground anyways Haru, Edo era Haru, Black Blood brothers AU (which is basically a vampire Au), Spy Haru, and probably more that i'm forgetting off the top of my head right now.

So idk, I guess some other genre that I haven't really tried is if she was a different entity, like a spirit. Now that I think about it, I think I did conjure up an idea of a Dragon verse before. Yeah- idk. I can't think of a specific fantasy AU i'd like to try that I haven't already dabbled in before.

☣ What's one thing that will make you drop a thread?

Ehhh I'm pretty tolerant of many things, and if I have an issue with something, i'm one to speak up about it and discuss how it can be amended so I can continue.

IF I'll drop a thread for some reason, it is likely that I dropped the mun themselves. They probably did something that royally upset me.

Other than that, the only other thing that would actually make me full stop drop a thread on the spot: give me a 2 word reply. You'd think i'm joking, but I had a partner who only gave me like 2 word responses and it KILLED me.

✆ Other than RPing, what's a hobby of yours?

I like to read manga/manhwa/manhua a lot. I used to like singing a lot, but I don't as much anymore because I feel self-conscious about neighbors hearing me. I suppose occasionally collecting art from artists is also a thing that I do now.

❥ Has something ever happened for you to hate a ship? Why?

LOLOLOL you bet! I'll admit that I loved the novels from a certain writer whose novel was made into a live action not long ago, but there was a massive thing with doxxing, hacking people's accounts, threats, verbal harrassment, etc going on from the EN and CN fans and it made me SO SICK that I've left an entire fandom because of it.

The sad thing was, the fandom that I was in was for one of her earlier works and it didn't have nearly as much attention compared to some of her later works. I got harrassed for a ship and I'm full of a lot of resentment for the series and a lot of things surrounding it.

Don't get me wrong, the series were great and I enjoyed them, but my experience with bad fans and being harassed sucked all the enjoyment from me. I'm happy for people who can love the series and enjoy their time in the fandom. I, unfortunately, did not.

most active muse: currently Eirene, with my fandomless OC Melissa (@stingslikeabee) in second, and my beloved Yakuza leggy man Akiyama (@akiiyamashun) in third.

experience / how many years: gosh, I'm a Fandom Old (tm). I've used a million platforms and I started with passing notes in school and writing on actual paper; it's 15+ years doing this on and off.

platforms you use: tumblr at the moment, but I've gone through everything (forums, AIM, discord, livejournal, MSN, skype and so on).

best experience: I had a couple of really great runs in the early 2000s on livejournal and the RPC there, then since 2020 onwards here on tumblr on Melissa, including branching out to Akiyama and Eirene. It's been a constant/stable writing exercise which has helped me a lot through irl things, too.

rp pet peeves: I think the biggest one is getting what I call 'passive' replies? I'm not sure how to describe this, but feeling like I'm carrying the thread by myself and that the replies do not offer any new elements (no questions, actions or anything to react to or move the thread forward) make me lose muse very fast. Of course, sometimes this is necessary and makes sense in context! My issue is when this is a standard thing and the storytelling aspect does not feel shared, I guess. This is what makes roleplay fun and different from fanfiction, in my mind. :)

fluff, angst, or smut: all of them! I love flip-flopping through genres although smut is something I'm only comfortable after plotting and enough ooc interaction with the other mun. I'm all for telling interesting stories, no matter how they come to be in terms of being presented.

plots or memes: plotting all the way! I'm heavily plot-based and I have a preference for plotting a general timeline where we can move as we wish for threads and memes; I struggle at keeping interactions alive without some sense of direction or objective behind it all. It's fine to have the occasional slice of life or more conversation-based threads, but I generally like to have those within a bigger context.

long or short replies: long replies, I'm afraid - I just seem to have an issue with brevity, to be frank. This is something from my personal life that bleeds onto work, school assignments, real life letters etc; I write a lot, I write fast and I write frequently. It doesn't bother or strain me and as a result I've developed a rather introspective style of roleplay where there is a lot of thoughts/feelings included in replies, so they tend to be longer than average, I feel. I am always lowkey afraid this intimidate others - because it shouldn't! And I never expect the same length in return, just something to react to, really.

best time to write: it used to be during work hours when I was at the laptop already and alternated between work stuff and replies to take breaks, but now it's more evenly distributed during the day, I guess? I'm usually not writing super early in the day or very late at night because English is required and I tend to be only half-coherent and running mostly on default software that is equipped with Portuguese only, I'm afraid. >_>;

are you like your muse(s): definitely not hahaha. Apart from a life in the corporate world, we have almost nothing in common - not even the hair color! I'm more emotional, I know just the basics of chess, I have no super powers related to partial mutation, I don't really enjoy wearing high heels everywhere and I grow attached to people way more frequently than Eirene does. I'm pretty fucking good at my job, but I'm not a business prodigy either.

PREFERENCE OF COMMUNICATION: Discord, once we’re mutuals and I feel there is a good chance of plotting to get things off the ground - the tumblr IM is just too small and annoying to work with, so I generally offer to switch to discord if my partner is also okay with that. :)

NAME OF MUSE(S): Only active blogs are Melissa, a FFVII OC with several other verses (on this blog) and Akiyama Shun, a canon muse from the Yakuza/RGG franchise ( @akiiyamashun ).

EXPERIENCE/HOW LONG: Oh, boy - I have been roleplaying before even realizing I was roleplaying. Technically I started with writing shared notes and passing them in class with friends back in 2000, haha. In terms of online roleplay, I did it most in LiveJournal communities with threads over AIM for 2006-2008ish, I think, then picked that up again in 2010-2012 but with MSN rather than AIM for threads and then remained mostly on MSN/Skype with a few partners until returning to tumblr around 2013-2014 and then the FFVII RPC from 2016 onward on tumblr (plus skype/discord). I’m old, I guess.

BEST EXPERIENCE: The friendships! I’ve met people from all over the world thanks to this hobby, and while I’ve not been able to keep in touch with everyone, I still have lovely friends I talk to frequently, as well as people to exchange gifts/cards/stuff with, not to mention just share some of the burden of our real lives when it’s too heavy. This is really an aspect I’m super fond of and I really look at my online friends as ‘regular’ friends. :) I’m always planning to meet up in person too (if only you guys lived closer, sometimes I think I’m the token South American member of the RPC I’m in).

RP PET PEEVES: I feel really frustrated when I get nothing to work with in a reply - another muse just passively reacting to whatever has happened but not asking questions / doing a new action / creating something new to move the plot forward is really a problem to me. Since I’m always trying to achieve some goal with my threads, feeling like I’m doing the heavy lifting all the time to get to that goal is very discouraging and tiresome. I’d rather have my partner writing in OCs/bystanders or even doing minor god-modding (like assuming my muse will take something, follow them, sit as requested etc) than an entirely passive, reflective reply only.

MUSE PREFERENCES FOR ANGST / FLUFF / SMUT: Give me everything! :D I am a sucker for happy endings more often than not so I usually counter angst with fluff but yes, I enjoy being wrecked by feelings on a daily basis. I love doing these alongside worldbuilding and fleshing out the world we’re writing in as well.

PLOTS OR MEMES: I’m a very plot-driven person and I struggle without an overall direction for a thread. My preference is to establish a ‘main verse’ for our muses in terms of interactions/timelines that is covered in threads, and use memes to go all over it. I’m not chronologically locked - we can write whenever in the timeline we are creating - but this is how my brain best processes information. My memes are always very detailed in terms of responses, so without plotting for dynamics/storyline I may get stuck and not be able to answer.

LONG OR SHORT REPLIES: I’m a multi-para/novella writer - writing has always been something of a hobby coupled with something that comes easily to me and I have trouble trying to keep stuff... Concise, I guess (it extends to work, even - the amount of times a boss of mine has gone on about how ‘less is more’ is something). It’s not even because a lot is happening in terms of actions - my writing style is kinda introspective and I can go forever about how my muse feels or how they think/are impacted by something. I try to tone this down and cut things to not go overboard ALL the time, particularly if this is not a preference of my partner.

BEST TIME TO WRITE: There is not a right time of the day per se - I tend to write more during my own work hours because I work from home (mostly) and already am on computer, so I just pepper my work day with some breaks for writing to keep me motivated. Sometimes I do more replies after work is done, if I’m not super sleepy and the ability to combine words in English is still intact.

ARE YOU LIKE YOUR MUSE: Yes and no. We do share some similarities - mostly in the motherly/big sister vibes, and also I’m frequently an older/the oldest person of my group so the nurturing bit is quite natural; we’re also both talkative and enjoy connecting to people on a personal level - but I guess these are the closest we get to be. I come from a rather happy home/childhood, have taken career choices that are not related to artistic skills whatsoever and I do not consider myself nearly as feminine as Melissa is (I can barely walk in high heels, guys). Oh, I also do not have the habit of falling for dangerous men who have committed/can commit/will commit murder, that’s 100% on her.

PREFERENCE OF COMMUNICATION: Typing frantically on Discord to my mutuals. 

NAME OF MUSE(S): The only blog that I have publicly available on Tumblr is this one ! Daigo Dojima from the RGG world and Yakuza franchise.

EXPERIENCE/HOW LONG: A long time. I was introduced to roleplay through playing and GM - ing TTRPGs when I was a young teenager. I have about 15 years under my belt as a DM in D&D. In terms of online roleplay, I used to rotate through GaiaOnline, Skype, Curse, different forums, etc. before I landed on Tumblr. I wrote here from 2012 - 2017ish and came back in December 2021 with Daigo.

BEST EXPERIENCE: The platform that I’ve enjoyed the most is Tumblr. It’s janky at best, but I like being able to incorporate quotes and aesthetic posts. It helps muses feel fleshed out.

RP PET PEEVES: n / a.

MUSE PREFERENCES FOR ANGST / FLUFF / SMUT: My favorite genres to write are gore, horror, & medical gore. I suppose the answer to this, then, is angst ( ? ). Between the three, I would say angst is #1, smut is #2, and fluff is #3. 

PLOTS OR MEMES: Either ! I prefer to plot to have at least a base line of how our muses approach one another, but I do adore memes for the sheer spontaneity and mischief of them.

LONG OR SHORT REPLIES: Long. I have a hard time writing replies that are 3 paragraphs or less. I’m a terribly verbose person.

BEST TIME TO WRITE: In the morning before I get ready for work. I try to write while it’s still fairly cool during the summer days for the sake of my rig. A cup of iced coffee and a few replies do wonders for getting my brain started for the day.

ARE YOU LIKE YOUR MUSE: Yes ! ‘ Baby Daigo ’ / Yakuza 2 / punk era Daigo specifically. We have the same overall aesthetic ( down to the puffer coat, though my preferred one is a bright red trench with a black ruff and silver detailing ). I also swear incessantly and associate getting inked with healing.

Hey, so just a heads up. I’ve been feeling the Jin Muse waning for a while. I’ve also been super duper anxious about everything all the time, but especially so when it comes to my RP. Part of it is that I’m deep in Yakuza hell rn, but part of it is just that my brain is bad and doesn’t work.

I do not want to abandon this blog. I am invested in the plots I’ve got Jin in. When I finish these last 2 and a half Yakuza games, I’m going to do a big Ghost of Tsushima replay to get my sad samurai son muse back.

Until then, I need to address some things on this blog:

1. I will still be around sending memes and shitposting because I like looking at all you turds.

2. I will probably be dropping a lot of my current threads. The plot-heavy ones are causing me the most stress because I feel like my Jin is all over the place and I don’t know what I’m doing.

3. Expect some more light-hearted, borderline crack threads from me because that’s pretty much all I have in me right now. Chicken Jin will probably make a comeback.

4. I will probably keep SOME of my plot-heavy threads. I’m sorry if yours isn’t one of them. It’s probably only going to be with the people I talk the most with OOC, but that isn’t a hard and fast rule. I’m just gonna do what feels right for my oatmeal brain. I’m not trying to exclude anyone, I just have the brainrot and can only spare the braincells on what I have inspiration for in that moment.

I’ve always written a lot... and when I made Rei I tried to make him work for everyone but Ko was the first person to like...get it so I could do what I really wanted to do with Rei. Our RP with all the Yakuza stuff and like...hard hitting plot points was just PERFECT. Like...no joke. It was one of the most fulfilling RPs ever that just allowed my creativity to flow. It’s funny because how how we met. He was like “Can I draw you gift art? Our OCs are similar and I’d like to” and I was like “NAH BITCH BUT SIMILAR OCS YOU SAY???? TELL ME MORE!!!” and that was literally it. And it turned into 400 pages of everything I’ve ever wanted out of RP and writing. (and like a year and a half later we are living together and stuff...there’s that too. He the best)

I'm feeling sappy so listen up. Anyone who knows me, hell, anyone who clicks onto my blog at the right time knows how much I adore the fantasy AU. The ending and illustrations were fucking amazing starting points. The actual chapter we got...not so much but that's against the point. What started as me going oh I can do fantasy things? Hell yes. Has transformed into something much bigger, something so many of us have worked so hard on and something I want to share with the world.

And so much of that is down to the people who I've been lucky enough to meet and plot and write with.

I'm gonna put this under a cut so it doesn't get long but I just wanna say some stuff.

@embidoesrp-bnhaarchives - I'm not gonna tag the actual rp blogs as I'd be here a while. Embi wasn't one of the first people to get involved in the verse. I'd always thought about asking her but I wasn't sure if she wanted to so I got awkward and left it. But I'm so glad she decided to join in our group verse. Embi is just...so talented. She writes well, she draws well - the map, her character sketches, even the silly comic she did of Eri and Katsuki - and she's just so nice on top of that? She loves world building and plotting and coming up with ideas. She has so many characters and a few NPCs and she's just so involved. I fucking love it. Even if she doesn't need to be involved with something she likes suggesting ideas and seeing other people use them. She's the reason we have the server and honestly she's just an integral part of our group verse. I love talking to her and rping with her so much. I want to write with all her involved characters. But obviously Eri is my favorite. Thank you for providing my grumpy man with a child Embi and for all your hard work. We'll get to the Eri returning to the alchemists angst eventually and that's gonna be super fun and dramatic.

@quirkless-wonder - So Jay was one of the two people i was originally doing fantasy group stuff with. It was a bit of fun and our characters didn't get along and it could be really interesting. I didn't mean to get as invested as I did. I didn't mean to start shipping Katsuki and Yami so hard. But here I am and somehow Jay has stuck around and continued to put up with me throwing like a million threads at them and showing them things every other day or so that remind of usually fantasy yamibaku. They've made Yami into such an interesting character and his background and plots and relic are all so interesting. If I could get art of him in his fantasy gear I so would as I need it so I can love it. Katsuki and Yamikumo's dynamic is unsurprisingly one of my favourite things in this AU. They've grown and changed so much. They still fight sometimes and still piss each other other but they've become a team and a family and yet they're still learning things about eachother. I love seeing them interact and I look forward of what's to come. Thank you so much for giving me this unexpected ship, for encouraging me to do more with this AU and for letting me see your little sketches when you do them. It's all amazing.

@glamie - Nova has so many characters within the AU but they all tend to be so interesting. She always put such thought into your characters fantasy stories and they're all so fun. The group wouldn't be the same without Camie or Jun or Ryo or Iida or Sho. It wouldn't be the same without Nova in general. Nova's ideas for her characters are always so original. You're so great with coming up with these different stories that make her characters stick out and I'm just so amazed by this. She doesn't always join in with everything but whenever she does I know it's gonna be fun and quite often adorable. Seriously. All the cute animals running around thanks to Nova writing kitsune and puppies. Plus a baby now too. Not to mention how hard I ship Tamie now thanks to her and Birb. I just...we'd been friends a while anyway but I'm so glad she joined me in the fandom and in this little group verse. Nova is always so fun to interact with and she's one of my best friends so I hope we continue to have a lot of fun.

@createinfinity - I'm pretty sure that one of the ways I dragged Birb into rping BNHA with me was by saying fantasy AU and if not I definitely thought it. She has a lot of characters and they're all so fun. She doesn't really join in very often as time zones and real life and the like but each character she writes brings something so different that they at least get referenced by others a lot. Katsuki might not like a lot of them but they've still had an impact on them. I just hope she'll get more chances in the future to join in and that she'll at least reblog more fantasy memes as I need MORE. And as her best friend I should be able to encourage her...I hope XD.

@nitrosweet - Though Quinn has technically been part of the group for a long while, it's not really been that long since Katsuke has really been getting involved but I love him. I love having someone writing a sibling for my character. I love the shared past and world building we can do together and the discussions we can have because of their past. I love that we can write some good family bonding now. Quinn has taken a character that people just know as the happy Bakugou but turned him into something completely just Katsuke in the fantasy AU. Sure, they're identical twins but they couldn't be more different. They have different wants and lives and it's just so awesome. I know Quinn wants to bring in Kiri at some point too and it's safe to say I'm super excited.

@silver-strings-of-fate - Rae is someone whose characters are very built up, have their own religions and lives and world building and yet they were still able to blend them in seamlessly with the stuff I've mostly come up with? It's so cool. I've not interacted with Akira much but Yayoi is fun and terrifying and there's those two server only baby boys who are adorable. Rae has some really great ideas and I love writing with them and seeing what they come up with. I also just love to tease Yayoi as that's fun and I'm definitely looking forward to rping more with them in the future.

As well as this plenty of other people have written this AU with me. There are some people in the server who haven't had the chance to write much and I look forward to seeing more and others I've just written a bit with on tumblr and would always be interested in more. I want to thank all of you too and remind you that I'm always up for fantasy AU. Thanks for putting up with me.

Single-handedly fix the Neptunia fandom. Give it new, pleasant life. Because it sucks right now.

Live with my girlfriend in a decent home. It could be an apartment and I’d be satisfied. 

Get my writing ideologies out there for the world to see. There’s too much love for being cynical and gritty, and I want to put the message out there how shitty and lame putting that feeling into writing is. Lighten up, fucker, the world isn’t shitty and neither do the fictional worlds you make.

I have a scar on the edge of my right eye. It looks like a star. It’s pretty cool, and happened when I was too young to feel the pain that led to it so y e a h

I drink too much Mountain Dew. It’s gonna kill me. I also eat a lot of store-bought ramen and pizza rolls. Yeah.

I’m naturally a very self-centered person. I follow the ideology that all people are inherently selfish anyhow, but I’m a tad worse than the norm. I’ve gotten better at not letting that actually be a problem, though! I was pretty terrible about it growing up.

Sonic the Hedgehog used to be my favorite video game series! I grew up so hard with Sonic Adventure 2. Which is funny, considering Sonic Mania is all I still go back to play anymore. The Adventure games are honestly terrible, as much as I still love them--

I am a diehard optimist. “In spite” of me also being an atheist, nihilist, and believing that all the stuff people say about people being naturally selfish and greedy is entirely correct. The cool thing is that none of these traits mean I have to hate the world, or people. What a thought! And of course, if you disagree with all the added stuff there, I totally understand, don’t worry about it. But don’t try and tell me I’m “wrong” I put in a lot of thought to reach my own conclusions.

Sonia x Gundham is the main one but I’ve really come to love Junko x Gundham. I know my list isn’t big but I am open to other ships. It’s just difficult for me to go full OTP with stuff.

WHAT ARE YOU WILLING TO RP WHEN IT COMES TO SHIPPING?:

Everything! I want the toxic and the sweet. I want the broken and the perfect for each other. I want the angst and the fluff. Give me every type of ship you have. Platonic, familial, romance, sexual, hatred, enemies, beautiful, damaging. Just fucking give it all to me!

HOW LARGE DOES THE AGE GAP HAVE TO BE TO MAKE IT UNCOMFORTABLE?:

I guess we’re talking romance and sexy stuff here so I’m gonna say; at most five years older and at the least two years younger. It really depends on the verse as well. If Gundham is of age and your muse is underage I might be a little uncomfortable.

ARE YOU SELECTIVE WHEN SHIPPING?:

I wouldn’t say I’m too selective. If the chemistry is there then I am so here for it. It’s just hard for me to get into ships. I hardly ever ship in shows and the ones I do generally make perfect sense to me. But I am open to everything.

HOW FAR DO STEAMY MOMENTS HAVE TO GO BEFORE THEY’RE CONSIDERED N.SFW?:

Hmm, I have trouble figuring this out sometimes. My rule is once the clothes are starting to come off or the muses are getting handsy then I’ll go for the NSFW tag and a cut. But I am open for people to let me know if you want steamy kisses put under a cut.

( DANCE ) - for our muses to dance at a ball

Recently, it felt like Melissa and Daigo never had a moment of rest when abroad visiting the Drysdells; her parents were constantly inviting them to all sort of events with friends, work colleagues or just their favorite neighbors. If they had a social function to attend – they were very adamant about having Melissa together with them, as well as her fiancé.

Their excuse was the lack of quality time together during all the other years when they were much less available due to Edgar’s duties to the army; as well as missing their oldest daughter so very much. But, if the former hostess was honest to herself, she suspected it had a bit to do with Daigo – her parents were so smitten with him; they had adopted the ex-chairman like a son and there was never a moment where they did not ask about him.

And doing anything with Melissa but without Daigo led them to feel incomplete – like a family outing missing a member. It was hilarious how they did not have the same approach to Heather’s boyfriend (and whether it was because they were not officially hitched or because Dylan failed to win old man Edgar over, the ex-hostess never knew) – but Daigo didn’t seem to mind. In fact – Melissa suspected he had grown fond of the attention and the affection that was so openly offered to him when he had starved for that sort of contact for so long when younger.

That Friday evening found them doing something entirely different – no barbecues, trips to the beach, shopping for a new motorhome or revamping their fitness room. Eleanor was friends with mostly the entire board of the local literary association, and they were keen on throwing different, thematic balls alluding to specific periods of time where important books had been written.

That week was honoring Jane Austen – and observing the dress code was mandatory. While they were out renting costumes, it amused Melissa to no end that finally – finally! – Daigo would be free to dress up as he saw fit instead of donning a suit as he usually did when the Tojo hosted Halloween parties; and yet – he ended up in a three-piece ensemble of sorts anyway. Granted, Melissa had never seen him in a high-cut coat with tails, or such a lovely high purple cut vest – and the combination with the period form-fitting breeches and boots was truly something. He looked so very dashing – even when his obviously Japanese features contrasted with such a traditional European attire.

Melissa herself decided to go for a high-waisted gown with long and simple lines, the fabric feeling soft and delightful to her fingers despite the lovely embroidery work. Her dress was of a pale lavender hue that looked pretty next to Daigo’s darker vest, and which paired nicely with her elbow length gloves, as well. The pearl necklace around her neck – now that had not been rented; her fiancé had merely walked into a jewelry shop and purchased the genuine item for her when he learned of the theme for ball, gifting it to Melissa the night before with a gentle kiss to her temple and the collective sighs of adoration and approval from the girls in her family (even Rose).

They had made somewhat of an impression when they arrived – and Melissa credited it mostly to the very foreign looks of her impressively tall soon-to-be-husband, but later she realized it had more to do with the fact that they were killing it on the dance floor – period ball or not; Daigo could dance, and so could her. It was probably one of the most surprising abilities about the ex-chairman in her opinion: no one typically looked at a yakuza and assumed they knew how to waltz well.

And yet – he did; he was obviously a level above the majority of the guests, and Melissa had always showed natural talent and grace for dancing since she was a kid. With Daigo leading, it was both easy and a delight to follow, and even if they were the center of the attention now – they hardly noticed it, too entranced by each other to care about the ball itself. It was truly Jane Austen-worthy – their dance was filled with emotion, their locked gazes full of love and mutual adoration, their whispered words and smiles the perfect picture of a blissfully happy couple.

Whatever hardships Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy had faced – they couldn’t hope to compare to the real-life struggles that Daigo Dojima and Melissa Drysdell had endured.

“May I cut in?” a voice suddenly interrupted them, and Melissa blinked to find her mother standing by their side, her smile wide and her eyes shining with excitement. Eleanor was clearly in her element – surrounded by family and friends, and overjoyed to see her loved ones having fun. Hers had always been a quieter and more subtle personality, but during certain events she truly blossomed.

“Hi there, mom. Didn’t see you arriving,” Melissa commented with an airy laugh, stepping away from her fiancé but leaving her hand over his shoulder while turning around to face her mother. She realized she could do with a drink – how long had they been dancing for?

“Of course you didn’t, my dear. You two only had eyes for each other,” Eleanor said in a loving tone, then gently grabbed one of her daughter’s hand, but shared a look between the two of them, “Would you allow me to borrow your fiancé for a dance? I will love your father until the day he dies, but Edgar has two left feet.”

Melissa had to laugh – well, wasn’t that the truth. Edgar was good at many things – dancing just happened to not be one of them in that lifetime. She barely needed to look up to Daigo for his opinion – the way he gently squeezed her around the waist and disentangled himself from the ex-hostess told her enough. The ex-chairman liked Eleanor very much – many were the tales and myths about mothers in law (and Melissa had been terrified of hers once, too) – but not Daigo. He had genuine fondness for Eleanor and looked more than happy to indulge her.

“I promise I will take good care of Eleanor.”

“I’m sure she’s as safe as she’ll ever be,” a quick peck on her fiancé’s face sealed the deal, and she finally stepped away. “Have fun, you two – enjoy being led by a professional for a change, mom.”

“Oh, I will.”

*inhales* I don't see the feedback meme posted anymore but you're getting unprompted feedback anyway. :) Okay. Dojima Daigo used to be this character I was aware of because he was there in the games as I played through Y0 to K2 and... That was it. I had no particular feelings, no emotions, no thoughts about Daigo. And then I met you.

And now I am fighting with myself so I do not to open his wiki page or to delve into all things Daigo because of spoilers. But honestly, I have so many feelings now? I played through Y3 to wherever I am to Y5 currently and I was outraged at how they lost him in Y3; I was moved by the pain he endured because of Mine; I was frustrated his plans didn't work as well as he wished for re. Arai; I was devastated by the way he was seemingly abandoned by Kiryu in early Y5.

Everything that happens to him now - I have so many emotions and reactions and I love every second he's on the screen and it's all thanks to you. Your writing, headcanons, ideas and feelings about who Dojima Daigo is, what makes him tick, his fears, his passions, his relationships with the other canon characters (Saejima, Kashiwagi, Majima, Yayoi, Kiryu!) are all so detailed and so plausible. I often see myself watching him in canon more like a confirmation of what I already suspected/thought of him because of your writing than the reverse.

It's clear that you love him - and have dedicated a lot of time to all these lovely small details that are peppered all over your interactions with everyone and it's such a joy to read him. His fancy guns, the layout of the Tojo office, his favorite colors, the sports he likes/follows, the way he deals with his emotions (or ignores them! :D Denial is more than just a river in Egypt!) - there's not a thing I've seen about your Daigo that felt out of place to me and as far as I am concerned, you own him. It's your son. SEGA and RGG should be paying you royalties, really.

ooc. MARI. THANK YOU SO MUCH. You were one of the first blogs to take a chance on my Daigo when I come back to Tumblr in December  ―  even when this space practically still had an ‘ under construction ’ sign plastered on it. I still remember the conversation where I had to ask you how to trim my rp posts, since it had changed so drastically since 2017, and I get a good chuckle out of it from time to time.

I adore all of our OOC conversations. Yours is a lovely and kind soul, Mari. I am honored to call you my friend and to have had the opportunity to get to know you better. ❤ 

If my Daigo is truly worth all you say, then it is only because of you. Thank you for supporting me from quite literally the very beginning and listening patiently while I poured my soul out about this character. Thank you for throwing ideas at the wall with me, no matter how far - fetched or disconnected they seemed at the time, as we built something AMAZING. 

We have a two - decades love story between our muses that covers the entire mainline ‘ Yakuza ’ timeline and features at least 10 OCs and their respective stories. The kind of connection that it takes from mun to mun and muse to muse to craft something that intricate is so rare and unbelievably precious. It is incredible to me that we fostered a bond like that practically instantly. It has been an absolute joy to talk with and write with you over the last few months, Mari.
