All attempts to flee had been futile – she’d resigned herself to a life full of misery. An endless loop of torment and suffering, with glimpses of better days sprinkled between, but surely ripped apart at the slightest inconvenience. She’d asked for help and gotten it, then backed away a number of times. Like she was too afraid to see if the grass was truly greener on the other side.

And yet, here she still stands – outside of a shop, a last-ditch effort to make her problem go away. It seemed ridiculous, insane even, to enlist the help of a so-called ‘witch.’ Leo had convinced herself that witches, wizards, and everything in-between were merely subjects of fantasy. But she was desperate enough to give it a shot.

Hand warily grips the handle as it turns – though she still hesitates to actually open the door. A nervous glance up and down the street to make sure she hasn’t been followed, and then she wills herself to step inside.

Captain James T. Kirk of the SSV Enterprise. After his father died saving the rest of his N7 unit , he was challenged by Christopher Pike to enlist into the systems alliance and do better.

He served under Captain Pike as executive officer for a few years until Pike was captured. While trying to gather the forces to rescue him , he was told to stand down and leave Pike to die.

Because of this , he stole the Enterprise and fucked off to do his own thing.

Picks up anyone in his ship that needs a place to live or some sort of escape. Now their mission is simple : help those who still need helping.

Has all of the memories of his original universe. He's trying so hard.

Hello! I've been thinking about getting into magical girl anime recently and I noticed you reblogging stuff from a lot of different ones, so I figured it'd make sense to come to you with this: Do you have any good starter magical girl anime recs? I'd prefer something light and fun if possible :>

OH GOODNESS I am more than happy to recommend you some magical girl anime, I LOVE magical girls, it's one of my favorite anime genres!! I hope you don't mind me answering this on my blog haha, gives me an excuse to ramble x3

My favorite magical girl franchise is Pretty Cure - most often abbreviated and refered to as Precure. It's a sprawling franchise that's been going on for the past 21 years now so it SEEMS daunting, but the cool thing about Precure is each season is its own self contained story with its own plot and cast of characters. There are two continuities with two seasons (the original Futari wa Precure and its sequel Futari wa Precure Max Heart, and Yes Precure 5 and its sequel Yes Precure 5 GoGo!), but otherwise each continuity is one season, usually between 47-50 episodes long (each season lasts one full year of broadcast time).

The best way to start with Precure imo is to look at summaries/character designs and see which one sounds most interesting to you - there's no "order" to watch them in since they're all their own stories! Precure is a children's franchise so things are generally light enough, but there are definitely some seasons that touch on/deal with heavier topics. If you'd like my personal recommendations for "light and fun" seasons of Precure, I'd recommend Smile Precure and KiraKira Precure a la Mode!

Smile Precure is about Miyuki, a girl who loves fairy tales, being tasked by the fairy Candy from Marchenland to assemble a team of 5 Precure to collect Cure Decor and revive the queen. It's bright, cheerful, and silly - I love the central cast and art style so much! A word about this season - this season was dubbed into English under the title "Glitter Force", which changed all names to English ones and cut out a handful of episodes (I believe the ones most heavily focused on Japanese culture that the dub team couldn't easily change to anything else). I personally do not recommend watching it like this! In all cases as far as Precure is concerned I recommend watching the original subtitled Japanese version.

KiraKira Precure a la Mode is about Ichika, a girl who loves sweets and dreams of becoming a patisserie. She meets Pekorin, a fairy that can detect "kirakiraru", an energy contained in sweets that represent their feelings, which evil fairies start to steal. Ichika becomes a Precure to protect the sweets and forms a team of Precure that open up their own mobile sweet shop together. One of the things that's unique about this season are the fights - one of Precure's claims to fame is the high amount of physical fighting/hand-to-hand combat it contains. KiraKira tones that element down after previous seasons were seen as "too intense", so the fights in this season are more magic/special attack based. This annoyed some people, but I personally think KiraKira's a great, fun, unique entry to the franchise! (And the fights came back next season, so it's not like they were gone forever lol).

Apart from Precure, I'd also recommend Ojamajo Doremi!

It's about Doremi Harukaze, the self proclaimed "unluckiest pretty girl in the world"; one day she stumbles upon a mysterious shop run by an old woman who looks like a witch. When Doremi calls her out, she turns into a "magic frog" - she WAS indeed a witch, and this is what happens to witches who are discovered in the human realm. The witch, Majo Rika, therefore enlists Doremi as a witch apprentice to help her turn back to normal. Ojamajo Doremi is really special - it's a more episodic series (tho there is an overarching plot each season) that really cares about its world and characters, it's so well written and wonderfully charming and funny and warm, really can't recommend it enough!

And for a final recommendation for now, I'll mention Cardcaptor Sakura!

A true classic of the genre, this is about a girl named Sakura Kinomoto who discovers a mysterious book in her father's library; upon opening it she scatters the deck of cards contained within and releases the creature that was sealing them. This creature, Cerberus (but you can call him Kero-chan), informs Sakura that she must now track down and capture these cards, called the Clow Cards, to prevent disaster from occuring. The card capturing element grants it a "monster of the week" flavor, but this is another sweet series focused on Sakura and her relationships first and foremost, and it's a real treat.

I think these are enough to get you started! If you want more recommendations definitely don't hesitate to ask - I started with these because you asked for light and happy, but I also enjoy darker magical girl anime as well so if you ever want to explore that route I'd have recommendations there too!

The cold weather was irritating him, but alas, for the sake of being a hoarder of all things cute and pink, he had to go outside to try and buy what he wanted - but not wanting to go alone he'd just enlisted the help of the first guy who came to his mind.

Adjusting his definitely too big jacket, he then motions for Andrew to open up the umbrella to protect him- them from the falling snow.

Story Based Open Starter

It was last week that your muse had been personally called into the Headmaster Naegi's Office for a.. Favor. He had informed you of a student who was supposed to transfer into the school this year, but the process had been halted due to unforseen circumstances... Usually, he would have enlisted a special service to escort her to the country, but it seemed that she had vehemently rejected any and all hired bodyguards assigned to her. So he, as a last resort, was asking for your assistance. Your absence would be accounted for in the school and, most importantly, you would be highly compensated for your time and efforts.

Information about the transfer student was limited, with the most detailed piece being that she was one a princess from a European nation, but she was to be relocated to Japan for reasons outside of her enrollment.

You wouldn't be completely alone, though. One of her soon-to-be classmates would be sent alongside you to act as an ambassador and ensure that the paperwork behind the process would go without issues.

"Pardon..!" A hand had been waved as the scribe left the plane terminal. She hadn't had the chance to hear who had been chosen to come with her but when she boarded the plane, one face in particular was a little bit too familiar as opposed to the rest on the plane. Another Hope’s Peak student.

"holden ... you know how my father is. i have to get home. there's no choice." sage paces back and forth in his record store. he filled in for an employee of his that needed the day off. he had planned on going home before the rain started, but the record store had gotten unusually busy. sage knew his parents, especially fergal, hated when he was home late regardless if he had holden was with him or not. it was the protectiveness that they always enlisted onto him rather than his sister hayden. he wasn't sure why his dads were so hellbent on keeping him safe. he only figured they had a good reason. maybe that's why he had gone to fight in the underground ring. it gave him a sense of freedom for once instead of being kept in a bubble. a bubble that only allowed him to go to the record store and home.

the secret fighting was for him. but mostly it was to help his self defense. his parents never taught him how to fight, nor did they know about the many fights he was involved in during school. fights where he was always the loser. not wanting to be a loser anymore, sage had joined the fighting ring. sure he was terrible, but he was still learning. it was his thing and even holden didn't know. after this morning, sage was sure that he should've gave the older man a fair warning since he still had a fresh cut and bruise on his chin that his father saw. "i'm sorry about this morning," he steps up to the window to look outside at the storm that was drenching the roads. "i didn't think he'd be awake." he sighs and steps away from the window. "you're right ... i won't make it home in that mess." he speaks the last words right before a roll of thunder and a bright flash of lightening spin through the night sky. One cold Christmas Eve, a six year old boy wandered into a fire station and asked for help. His mother had always told him to find a fireman if he was lost. And he was lost. A new baby in his arms he was able to tell people that his name was Arthur and this was his sister, Morgan.

Efforts were made to find the parents of the children but for the night they would be placed in an emergency placement, a home that had a boy the same age as Arthur and a girl close to Morgan’s age. 

As the holidays passed, effort was made to find their parents but it was clear that they didn’t want to be found. Whenever it looked like someone might be getting close, things changed quickly. After about a year of searching it was clear that these children needed a permanent home and their foster parents put their hands up to adopt them. 

From there the Parker family only grew, adding over the years until there was eight children. Arthur grew into a bright young boy, though it was rare that he was seen without Alexei or Freddie by his side. The three boys thick as thieves. 

If he’s honest with himself— he enlisted with Alexei on a dare. No idea what he wanted to do with his life and one night when he was eighteen it came up. And that was how he ended up serving in the Air Force for four years before he got out. It wasn’t what he wanted but it had been something to support himself whilst he figured it all out.

No where Arthur was really happy was in his hometown, around the people who had cared about him the most growing up. After speaking to his dads he realised they had the life that he wanted, and soon enough they were expanding the peach farm. Arthur lives on the property next door to his parents. Though whenever the family comes into town he stays with the chaos that he loves.

Arthur is only interested in muses aged 25 and older.

Starter call - Kimmie Dax-Rozhenko, daughter of Jadzia & Worf

In what is now considered an infamous incident, Kimmie, daughter of B'Etor, revealed her uncle's intentions to slaughter House Martok after a union between the two great houses and thus overtake the position of high chancellor at the near wedding of Alexander and her aunt. The family was promptly dishonored and Kimmie was offered a home by Jadzia to protect her from the fallout. Kimmie, alongside Genevieve and Chad who'd been the ones to find her and enlist her help, was honored and ceremoniously accepted by Martok into the family instead of the failed wedding. There's been whispers that the things brought to House Duras by their honor, including land, may be on hold to become someday the property of one House Kimmie, but that's all just rumor… for now.

In all honesty, a major part of Flynn had expected this to all be called off a few days after it was decided. Not because he wanted an out, but well, he just figured at least someone in Teri’s life would have talked her out of it. She had a giant family, more sisters than he’d have any clue what to do with, so surely one of them would think jumping right into marriage all because of an accidental pregnancy was a bit insane.

But the call or text that it was over never came. And the plan to get married and have this kid was still on. Which meant he needed to get a few things, to really officially seal the deal. Well, there were a lot of items they’d need for when the baby came along - but they had months to prepare for that. What Flynn was focusing on right now was getting a ring. The perfect ring, even. Because for all this might not be the most conventional marriage, nor was it likely what Teri ever actually wanted for herself, he was still going to do his damndest to make sure it was as close to everything she may have dreamed about.

Which meant enlisting help. And while he loved his boys - this wasn’t necessarily either Eric or Naveens wheelhouse. Nor were Billy or Riley going to be of much help, he hadn’t even considered either of them for longer than a second, in truth. Perhaps Luka could have worked, but he knew that there was really only one person that would be right for the job. Only one of his friends that would be honest enough to ensure he strayed away from anything tacky or ugly and that knew his now fiance well enough to be certain of what she’ll like when it comes to jewelry.

And that was Penny.

Waiting for her at the food court, Flynn couldn’t help the bouncing of his leg as he tried to get his shit together. It had been a few days since the party and surely by now Teri would have started telling people. At least her sisters and her roommate. Or that’s what he really hoped was the case. Because for all this was kind of his news to share as well, it felt wrong for the bomb to be coming from him. But when Penny didn’t immediately start yelling at him for being a dumbass when she approached the table he sat at with two slushies, he realized maybe it was about all fall on him. Fuck.

Holding out the second slushy in offering for her, he hesitates only for a moment before figuring it was best to just rip off the band aid. “Have you talked to Teri lately?” It was an awkward way to start the conversation - no hello or easing his way into it - and he realizes right away how stupid it sounds. “I mean about anything serious, that is. Obviously you’ve talked to her in general. But has she, you know, said anything about… me lately? Do you know anything?” Again, beyond awkward, even for Flynn’s standards, but there really was no easier way to go about this that he could think of. He didn’t want to just blurt out what happened, he’d need to work his way up to dropping the baby bomb if she didn’t already know.

Just thinking about it and standing on it, he was feeling impressed. Just two weeks ago, there hadn't even been a porch there, just the rotten wooden stairs up to his front door and now, just like that - boom. Fancy ass porch. Not that it hadn't just appeared over night. Ares had been continously working on it, drafting the help of some of the Redwood residents.

"Alright. Set it down here-" With some effort, Ares lowered it onto the wooden planks and rolled out his shoulders as he turned around to face Peter with a smile. He'd enlisted his friends help easily enough, and in his mind there was no doubt that Peter would've helped him even if it wasn't his job. "Thanks again, man. You're a life-saver. Saves me a whole ton of trips here and back. Jesus-"

"isn't it absence, not longing? are you trying to tell me something?" they're currently in the middle of what coco calls, superhero bullshit. she'd enlisted sheri's help because coco is still, technically, an anti-hero in the comic book of their life, if she had to categorize herself. can't be doling out justice without a guardian, and there is certainly something to dole out here--that is, regarding the affair one of her father's investors is having with the ceo of a company, and politician, whose stock has significantly gone up due to their contributions. normally coco'd leave her father to rot, because life's not fair, but as it happens, insider trading profiting off of the little guy seems exactly like something horrible and awful that ouriana might want to look into, and well, coco is a sucker for a good time together.

even if that good time is spent in the hotel room across the street, taking turns spying on the pair with binoculars and taking pictures of them while they're indisposed, as well as occasionally listening to their bland conversation through a wire tap. coco thinks they could make bank off of taking pictures of them in the middle of a spicy tango, but noooooo. because fun is verboten. coco eats another spicy cheeto, laying on the made bed, while sheri looks through the binoculars.

"ugh, do they ever stop? say something useful, you rich fucks!" crunch crunch crunch. yes, coco invited them here, but she loves to whine. "we could be having the most romantic of dinners right now if they'd get to the part where they monologue dramatically about their crimes. and the tax evasions."

Character A and character B think they are safe and sound when they enter a small pool on the carnival. Thinking it is just a rest place among the rest of the chaos- but when the doors close and the pools first empty and then start to fill with a red liquid that looks, smells and tastes like blood it seems that character A and B have a lot more to worry about than relaxation. They will have to find a way out of the bloody spa day.

It is a quiet movie, character A and B got free tickets won with one of the more calm carnival games and as they sit down for, what they think, is a screening of the 1999 version of The Mummy (a masterpiece) they suddenly see a ghostly apparition that has the hots for character A. Uh-oh, they think they are their long lost lover and start following the unlucky duo through a cinima-maze,. When did this building become a maze? And why are the mannequins ALIVE?!?!

Character A and character B enter a bar (perhaps by accident) and when in there the booze spills freely and is so addictive that the time seems to fly. Character A suddenly realizes what is going on and has to save not only themselves but also character B from the grasps of the incubus that runs the bar.

I think it really depends, I feel like a necromancer's power limit greatly scales based on a matter of factors, most of which are dependent on the setting

For starters, they'd likely have an advantage in an earlier medieval setting, with constructs and similar things being much harder to build, if at all, due to technological limits, compared to simply raising the dead, which will exist as long as life does.

Another factor to consider is where bodies or mechanical resources would be found. If every dead person is stored in surface graveyards, it's easy to spot a necromancer, but something like a catacomb or a forgotten ruin could yield greater results. This kind of thing also applies to an artificer, though it's much easier and less suspicious to just have a workshop somewhere. edit: forgot to include this earlier, but there's the added factor of numbers - it's a lot harder to individually build hundreds of constructs than it is to raise hundreds or even thousands of undead, at least depending on the power of the necromancer, for artificers at some point you need a whole ass magical factory to compete

There's many more contextual factors, but I don't have time to explore all of that, so I'll give an example of a very specific situation from one of my settings where a powerful enough necromancer could thrive. You don't have to read this, as it's mostly an example to elaborate upon my main point, but I'm including it anyways:

The ancient, floating archipelago of Draconia was toppled long ago, with a human king enlisting the help of a caste of antimages to bring it down from the sky, sending it smashing into the ground upside down, with only the last bits of the magical mythal left keeping the buildings themselves intact.

Its entire population, save for a few scattered remnants (which, save for one, are another story entirely), was killed as the kinetic impact of their formerly flying home crashing into the surface smashed them around like balls in a city-scale game of pinball.

Forgotten for millennia, this place lied far underground, undisturbed, with only one still calling it home - the ageless lich known as the Green Scourge.

With a kingdom's worth of bodies, a thirst for vengeance against a long-dead tyrant and his long-dead people, and tens of thousands of years to prepare, the Green Scourge had everything at his disposal.

All he had to do was wait, and eventually, the denizens of the Drakenian Empire, built atop the fallen archipelago (and supposed mountain range), were in for a surprise during an innocuous mining expedition.

Why is Keito not straight-laced? /gen I’d like to know more about him

lol he actually IS kind of straight laced 9/10 days, and on the 10th day he gets overcome with what I fondly call "serial shit starter disease".

Let's run through his records...

He's credited as the "scriptwriter" for the War in second year by both Eichi and Rei. Eichi was the one going on a rampage, but he did imply, in Quarrel Festival, that the war might have been more of Keito's idea. (Though I'm sure they both put their grubby little brain-cells to work together.)

Prior to that he made archery club extrajudicial range so he and Madara can go beat up students who bullied Leo.

He made up the Dragon King Competition, which is a DreamFes where competitors are allowed to use physical violence to kick each other off the stage, and pretended it was a school tradition. He just completely made up the paperwork for it and pretended he discovered them... due to the fact their school administration was a mess back then nobody cared... He did this and then recruited Kuro into Akatsuki because Kuro was a known delinquent and could easily intimidate their opponents into forfeiting by just appearing on stage, allowing Akatsuki to rise to the school's no. 2 rapidly through winning by default.

During Repayment Fes, when Rei enlisted Keito's help for his scheme, here's Keito's response:

Tho, with all due respect, he was too busy running the student council to start shit for most of his third year, and seems to have seriously chilled out after high school. I'm not up to date in !! plot.

Anyway I just think if Keito jaywalked a bit more regularly to get it out of his system Yumenosaki would have been a lot more peaceful.
