Research on my three artists.

For the first part of the brief we are to pick 3 artists and explore on their works, themselves and their reasons

1. Maurice Utrillo (1883–1955)

2. Aubrey Beardsley (1872–1898)

Life account:

As the Wikipedia states (not exactly the best source but it is fine:

''Aubrey Vincent Beardsley (21 August 1872 – 16 March 1898) was an English illustrator and author. His black ink drawings were influenced by Japanese woodcuts, and depicted the grotesque, the decadent, and the erotic. He was a leading figure in the aesthetic movement which also included Oscar Wilde and James McNeill Whistler. Beardsley's contribution to the development of the Art Nouveau and poster styles was significant despite his early death from tuberculosis. He is one of the important Modern Style figures.''

His personal life account is a bit questionable with rumours however rivaled with great achievements. In a way you could say he is famous because he has odd rumours based off of his past. Back to his works, Beardsley used a monochromatic theme throughout his works which helped him in making himself the most controversial artist of the Art Nouveau era, renowned for his dark and perverse images and grotesque erotica, which were the main themes of his later work.

He has also worked in publishing extensive illustrations on books and magazine covers. Beardsley was a caricaturist and did some political cartoons, mirroring Wilde's irreverent wit in art. Beardsley's work reflected the decadence of his era and his influence was enormous

His eccentric nature was a real deal. He also had frequent lung haemorrhages (from birth) and he died later, on 16 March 1898, of tuberculosis at the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Menton, Alpes-Maritimes, France, attended by his mother and sister.

Simply put, He is a force to be reckoned with. And I admire him for his tastes on Japanese wood works as it align with mine. However his other tastes are questionable but his artworks are impressive. He is also sort of multi talented in each form of art (musical, visual art, etc) his accounts also show that he was probably a temporary architect.

His works are really expressive and interesting as it shows very questionable themes which would naturally concide with the audience. However there is too much going on to pinpoint a proper meaning to his works as it does show a lot of a grotesque and erotic values. The meanings are technically clear however it is a bit hard to work with as it is a bit repulsive. His works are however very intriguing and impressive. Specially the work below named ''The Cave of Spleen, from The Rape of the Lock, 1896''

There is a lot of story telling that makes it even more impressive. What peaked my interest was the intricate line work that looks chaotic and clean at the same time.

Reason for my interests of this artist. 1. His art 2. His life account

Reason to not choose him. 1. His life is too diverse. 2. Some of his works are a bit repulsive to work with however would be a great style to work with.

3. Jeremy King (1933 – 2020)

Summary about Jeremy King:

Jeremy King is an English painter and printmaker specializing in landscape art. His works give viewers a glimpse into his travels throughout Europe . Using fluid linework and muted color palettes, King created a dreamlike style and “plein air” technique of painting outdoors and on-site. His works were comparable to Impressionist painters.

His works have been displayed across the world. With his artwork named Henley Reach being sold for £800 GBP ($1,007 USD) in December 2014 via the Oxford-based auction house.

Reason for my interests of this artist was based solely on the fact that 1. He has a dreamlike art style (Impressionism) 2. Most his artworks are on site works. 3. His interests for bodies of water in nature.

Reason not choose him: 1. Not enough account of his life and works. 2. His works really pull you in with it's neutral tones however it is not as impacting and it is Literally a visual journal of his travels. Not enough impact to really dig into however his works can be carefully studied for its contrast and calmness he conveys.

Today would be a great day to commit to some writing, especially in regards to poetry or diary work. Take a trip down memory lane and have a good look at where you have come from and how far you have come now. Look at your past and relationships and see how it has or hasn't affected you along your journey, for good or ill. Maybe it will give you some good inspiration for a poem or story, or perhaps writing it in a diary could help you process what has taken place. It is also a great day to get your ideas out there in the world, it's likely whatever it is that you need to communicate will be taken well on this day. In regards to those who have done you wrong in the past it is likely with a clever word you could trick or convince them to change their tone about you and speak good words to your name.
