"Hmm. Hard question, yeah? I wouldn't know where to start..." Rook puts his fingers to his chin and tilts his head, looking very thoughtful.

If he makes a list of things he like in his head, he can break it down and explain why they're his favorites. Nodding to himself, he is ready to answer the question!

"I know they're pretty common nowadays, but the robots here are nice to look at. There's even a cute fluffy robot dog running around on their little paws! They even found me once while I was playing hide and seek with them and a few other kids. Oh! I do love the vehicles, ehhh- Starskiffs! The flying ships they got here. It's nice and fast," Rook pauses, suddenly remembering something important. He turns a little sheepish and adds, "Uh...I almost got in trouble with the law for reckless driving. Sorry about that, Chenhua. I'm really sorry! I told her I make it up for it."

"But I gotta admit, it's quite a sight to see in the air. I bet Madame and her goons wouldn't believe me if I told them all of this! They call me a lunatic, a nut, and a sci-fi nut. They haven't seen crazy until they meet...Uh, nevermind." Waving away any questions about it, Rook ponders more about what he likes about the Luofu. Or his favorite things.

"Food wise...I visited Aurum Alley to try their delicacies. It's pretty good, and I'm not a picky eater. The spice is at an A-Okay level, but I sometimes crave for a bit more heat. I tried Boss Du flaming potent tea. Pretty hot but I did ask if he had anything hotter and he served me one of his test recipes for a new tea he's developing. The spicy kick is just the right amount I needed! He looked happy about my review and told me I was welcome to come back for more!" Rook grins, fondly remembering the test recipe of a super hot tea from Du Teahouse. Nothing crazy happened there, but the people who stared at him after drinking that tea might be concerning enough.

"I think that's all for now. I'll let you know if anything new becomes my favorite."

He doesn't take the jet there. He thought about it. Doesn't want people - his people even, to know. To think they can stop him. He doesn't even text Daniel.

They talked before his flight, although Daniel doesn't know Max was leaving. Was landing. Max remembers saying something about sim work, words about the race half swallowed in embarrassment, in excitement. He remembers the soft smile - indulgent even, that Daniel kept throughout. You’ll win, he said and Max doesn't want to correct him.

He would. Could have. Still can – but Max does not want to. Or rather, he thinks – he wants, for himself, for the first time.

He wonders if Daniel has found peace now. Does it have Max’s name on it? Does it make a place for him? Max rubs sweaty palms into his jeans. Refuses the offer from the stewardess to have more to drink. Screws the cap on further against his brow just in case someone recognises him even when they boarded at 2am.

The gin doesn't taste as nice as in his own jet. He sweats more. Sleeps through a guy snoring even with the space between them in first class. He sleeps an hour, two. There are eighteen more to go.

Max watches the plane travel across the world on the screen instead. His heart doesn't stutter when it glances near Abu Dhabi. It flutters when they cross Hong Kong, aches as they cross the ocean and the Australian coast appears in the corner like the DVD logo of Max's childhood.

Words spill behind his tongue. Daniel’s name too. He rehearses what he wants to say. Mimes the words as the figure plane follows the dotted line. It doesn't get easier.

He turns airplane mode off when they land. It blows up with notifications. GP, Rupert – Christian emailed a schedule. He starts the sim session tomorrow. Today, in fact.

Max may already be late. He scrolls past them. Marks them muted. Crosses into Australian land and hot tarmac. It doesn't quite smell like the Melbourne track.

Daniel sent him memes in the last few hours. Before he started feeding the animals. Max has learnt and memorised their names. Even Maximilian the calf. It still makes Daniel snort when he says it - says the baby cow stares at him as much as Max does. Hence the name, Maxy.

Asks Max ten times if he gets the joke - Max, Max Emilian, Maximilian. Max nods, laughs anyway, as it makes Daniel laugh harder. Tells him his joke is silly, and Daniel replies he spent an hour thinking of the name thank you Max. Rambles about how he thought about it as baby cow not Max was being licked by his mother, calf hair sticking up everywhere just like my Max after a race.

Daniel doesn’t say anything when Max chokes on his water, when he breathes too loud. Chokes on Daniel’s name. Tries to find a joke about his hair and the baby calf. Doesn’t come up with one. Daniel smiles, pleased thing Max screenshots with clumsy fingers. It’s blurry. Max sets it as Daniel’s profile picture everywhere. Sends it to Victoria unprompted and gets a heart and a thumbs up from her.

Sends it to team redline. Mutes Luke’s dms for an hour or two after.

Max thinks he stares morethan Maximillian the baby calf anyway. Loves Daniel more than the baby cow. Wants the way Daniel smiles softly at it, the cooing in his voice making Max’s stomach tighten with need. The baby cow doesn't realise how lucky it is, to get Daniel’s affection so freely. Max will be there soon.

Max wants to beg Daniel to give it to him too.

Two more memes. He likes them all, even if Lando sent them to him two weeks ago, when they first appeared on TikTok. It’s cute. Max can't wait to watch them and hear Daniel laugh as he does so - always.

Daniel also keeps sending this guy - burly, hairy - working on a farm. Max always gnaws at his lips so he doesn't ask Daniel if he would like Max that way. Would Daniel be ok if Max burns under the sun instead, that his hair is blonde everywhere and will not be as dark as the TikTok man’s. He can get burly, he thinks — but Daniel will need to let him race with the team online, in exchange.

He knows there is a spare room, in Daniel's farmhouse. Max thinks he can fix his set up there. Can buy a new one. He already knows the ridiculous shipping fees, and has it on back order anyway. Can get Daniel to play with him maybe. He knows Daniel will say yes. Even if Daniel sucks at FIFA. Max tells him whenever he can.

Chuuya all the way for forehead kisses. Height differences be damned, he'd still reach up, grab Dazai's face and press a lingering kiss to his forehead. I think Dazai would be more mischievous and boop/peck Chuuya on the nose though, especially when it's real cold out, their noses are tinted red, and Dazai's teasing Chuuya about looking like a reindeer.

Gets jealous the most

Dazai, no question about it. Dazai already can't stop thinking about how to kill Chuuya daily, this man is not normal about Chuuya. Dazai has a kind of untapped jealousy though where he doesn't even realize he's jealous until it's pointed out to him because he's never experienced jealousy before. He'd be more lowkey and passive-aggressive about it though, getting all up in Chuuya's space and slinging an arm around his shoulders.

Picks the other up from the bar when they’re too drunk to drive

I want to be cheeky and say they'd both get drunk and have a friend pick them up. Chuuya's a lightweight, but Dazai also sucks at driving, but if Chuuya is buzzed out of his mind, he won't notice all the red lights Dazai runs and how he's going over the speed limit.

Takes care of on sick days

Chuuya. He's used to looking out for others, so he'd do it almost no questions asked, especially because he's getting a bit miffed about Dazai sniffling and sneezing everywhere and he doesn't want to get sick as well. Dazai and his total lack of self-preservation means Chuuya's picking up a sick Dazai, throwing him over his shoulder, and forcing him into bed and bundling Dazai in a lot of blankets so he can't move, but Chuuya will also make tea and run out to the pharmacy to get medicine.

Drags the other person out into the water on beach day

Dazai. Chuuya's almost like a workaholic now who really needs to take it easy, so Dazai would spontaneously drag Chuuya out. No ifs, ands, or buts. Or he'd trick Chuuya out saying it was an emergency, or word on the street is that Mori needed a favor done.

Gives unprompted massages

I think Dazai would try, and he'd suck at it, so then Chuuya shows him how to give a proper massage and where to massage, because Dazai's just making things worse. It would take time, but Dazai would eventually learn how to properly get the knots out of Chuuya's back.

Drives/rides shotgun

Dazai rides. He'd even yell it when he runs out the door.

Brings the other lunch at work

Chuuya. Chuuya would pick up on all the little quirks and terrible habits Dazai has about forgetting to eat, how picky of an eater he is, and how he'll even be too lazy to run to the convenience store to grab a bento box. He doesn't want Dazai passing out on him.

oof is it unfair to say neither? I mean, I guess technically Chuuya wins slightly over Dazai, because Chuuya at least acknowledges his parents even if he doesn't visit them. Dazai, we just don't know about at all. Under kinder circumstances, I can see Chuuya having the better relationship with his parents, no doubt. They'd be going to his parent's house for holidays and such. Dazai just kinda doesn't bring his parents up at all, and it's a topic they avoid altogether because it's a sore spot.

Tries to start role-playing in bed

Dazai. Chuuya would wonder what the hell Dazai is doing dressed up in a dashing suit, glasses and all, then it clicks.

Embarrassingly drunk dancer

Chuuya. Someone, whether a friend or coworker, would taunt him about getting on the dance floor to show off his skills, and he'd bite, stumbling his way over onto the floor to bust a move.

Still cries watching Titanic

Honestly, neither. Dazai would be more mechanical dissecting what's going on in the movie, and "Why did he think THAT was the right move?", and Chuuya would be touched by the sacrifice that happens in the movie, but he wouldn't cry.

Firmly believes in couples costumes

DAZAI. Dazai would love all the stupid costumes, and Chuuya's his victim. Dazai 100% loves Halloween.

Breaks the expensive gift rule during Christmas

Chuuya, no contest. He doesn't even do it on purpose, he just window shops for something nice, pays no attention to the price tag, and only finds out at the register, but he doesn't bat an eye. It's completely imbalanced, whereas Dazai gets Chuuya like, a new pair of gloves that may be real leather or faux leather.

Makes the other eat breakfast

Chuuya. He'd be not-so-subtle about self-care when it comes to Dazai. Dazai's diet makes him see red, tbh.

Remembers anniversaries

Both, but Dazai's more lowkey about it. He won't pretend to forget, but the big day will be coming up, and Chuuya's antsy and anticipating something any day now from Dazai, then he's crestfallen come morning of, thinking Dazai forgot, then Dazai surprises him by evening.

Brings up having kids

👀 I actually think Dazai would. Hypothetically speaking, this would happen way into the relationship when they've established an emotional connection and processed their traumas to even get to that level. But I think it'd be poetic for Dazai, the man who was adamant about taking his own life since he was a kid, now wanting to not only share his life with someone else, but raise kids on top of it. It'd take a lot to reach that point, but I think him bringing it up would really mean he's found someone worth living for.

Visited Alcatraz - Ironically the "island prison" part was less interesting than some of the other stuff that went down there, such as the Occupation, and also birbs

I saw so many birbs you guys

Turns out jetlag + sensory overload + mild homesickness + a basically-windowless hotel room = ugly-crying at 6am. Who knew? I certainly didn't!

Went to Yosemite National Park and saw an actual tree fall down completely unprompted

Did I mention the birbs?

Cycled across the Golden Gate Bridge - insert the ""it fucken wimdy" meme here because hoo boy, was it wimdy

Hung out the side of a cable car

American TV scares me

Had to do a double-take when I ordered a cheesecake slice from the Cheesecake Factory, thinking that 1,500 calories per slice must have been a misprint, surely (it was not a misprint I ate nothing else that day)

The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art rocks and you should absolutely go there if you get a chance

There's a Greco-Roman temple-esque building just hanging out by the Marina. It's a beautiful building that's there for a rather dumb reason that I can't remember just now.

You know, I feel silly for not seeing this one coming lol. And hey, fun fact: the only reason I wrote a butterflyshipping fic in the first place, aside from being inspired by that one other fic, is the name. I just really like butterflies lol. And at the time, I was growing my writing muscles by just writing every ship that even slightly intrigued me.

Good for you for getting me to talk about the ladies that I ignore most of the time. It's not that I don't like them, they're just not high on my list compared to other characters.

Gives nose/forehead kisses

Mai gives it to both of them because she loves the cute faces they make. Ryou really loves receiving them. Mai makes a pretty cute face herself when Ryou leans over and gives her head a peck.

Gets jealous the most

Anzu has a very jealous personality, so I'd have to say her, but if Ryou ever got jealous, it would be a sad kind of jealous that makes him ball up in insecurity.

Picks the other up from the bar when they’re too drunk to drive

Ryou doesn't like driving, it makes him anxious, but he's not big on drinking and the ladies are, especially out with friends, so that leaves him as the designated driver. He drives Mai's car and always makes them both sit in the backseat.

Takes care of on sick days

Ryou mostly does this, partly because he was so alone for most of his life and always wished he'd had someone to take care of him, but when he's the one that's sick, Anzu is the one taking care of him. Mai is supportive, just not the caretaking type.

Drags the other person out into the water on beach day

Ryou is the one getting dragged, after he's got two coats of sunscreen on him. I would say Anzu would be dragging him alongside Mai, but in the beach/pool episode of Season Zero she didn't want to get in the water either, so I think Mai is dragging them both in, even if it's just the shallows.

Gives unprompted massages

Mai, and Anzu to a lesser degree. Mai is very touchy, and sometimes she startles Ryou with the unsolicited/unexpected touches, and he'll say something if it's ever a problem.

Drives/rides shotgun

Mai drives, Anzu rides shotgun, Ryou is occupied in the backseat with his happy meal.

Brings the other lunch at work

I've explained my "Ryou doesn't cook" headcanons elsewhere, and I can't imagine Mai can either (mainly cause she didn't have to) so that leaves Anzu as the one saying "you remembered to bring lunch to work today right? You didn't??? Hold on, I'll be there in 40 minutes."

Has the better parental relationship

Anzu has a normal relationship with her parents while Ryou's are dead/MIA and Mai's were distant and detached.

Tries to start role-playing in bed

Mai is bold, no fear and no insecurity. Ryou is easily embarrassed, Anzu goes along with it sometimes.

Embarrassingly drunk dancer

ALL OF THEM. If Ryou has had enough to drink that he starts dancing though, it doesn't last long before he passes out or collapses. Anzu cannot stand fucking still, she will just be constantly jiving to the music in her own mind. Mai is the least embarrassing about it, but it's still a bit not-quite-what-she-would-normally-do.

Still cries watching Titanic

Ryou and Anzu the most, but all of them really, depends on the day. If Mai and Anzu are PMSing and turn it on, Ryou will cry with them because he can't help it, he's too empathetic.

Firmly believes in couples costumes

Mai mostly, but Anzu has a lot of fun with it too. One time they dressed up as a devil/angel/reaper for Halloween, and even though both ladies wanted Ryou to be the angel, he insisted on being the reaper or else he wouldn't participate. So Ryou was the reaper, Anzu was the angel, and Mai was the devil.

Breaks the expensive gift rule during Christmas

As the one with the most money, Mai does often. It makes Ryou feel bad though, so cause of that she tries to follow the rule.

Makes the other eat breakfast

ANZU. She's the absolute mom in the relationship, if that makes sense. Mai is like, "I've got a latte, that IS my breakfast" and Ryou's like "I'll eat an hot pocket at lunch, I'll be fine until then" and Anzu is like "No! Three meals a day! Sit down and eat!"

Remembers anniversaries

All of them are actually really good about this, and the only surprises are the presents themselves. They start talking plans months in advance, and sometimes they go on little trips

Brings up having kids

Anzu, because she wants them the most, and then Mai suggests they try to get pregnant at the same time so they can go through it together, and just the idea of that gives Ryou a nervous breakdown, so they both backpedal like, "It's okay sweetie, it's not happening right now, it was just a suggestion." Ryou is absolutely going to be a stay-at-home dad though. He will be there for every second of his kids' lives. Meanwhile, Mai is the "wait right here kiddos, Mommy needs to go teach this man a lesson" parent.

BONUS HEADCANON

All three of them have Marik trauma, so no, he's not invited to the wedding. Anzu was possessed and had her life threatened by him, Mai got her soul stolen by him which resulted in traumatic psychological torture, and Ryou was stabbed thanks to him in addition to the possession and the time he spent in the Shadow Realm.

He peers over her shoulder – small as she is, tucked under his arm, it takes no effort at all – and frowns as he takes in a slightly more reputable website than the regular gossip sites he thought she might favor for this, finding some online music magazine that’s pretty well-sourced despite their continuous critique of his albums and live shows on her screen right now, and spies his own name appearing several times on that page alone.

“Speirs,” she reads out loud – and isn’t it strange, hearing his last name from her when she always calls him Ronald? – while nestling herself against his side, “is of course no stranger to c-o-n-t-r-o-v-e-r-s-y”– and she spells that out the way she always does the English words she doesn’t like to pronounce –“with his stage shows often a bath of fake blood and dimly lit violence, pfah Ronald they are acting like you are cuh-razy,” she dismisses offhand before continuing, “and his formerly heavy social media fight with Tatiana precedes the frenzy that is his shocking guest appearance on her latest album, titled new heaven and new earth, and the growing rumors that Speirs is credited as co-author in its liner notes in what looks to be a reinvention of Tatiana’s image.”

“They’re right about that liner notes bit,” he says, remembering her neat cursive penning him into the credits of her album unprompted, “but I’m not doing this because it’s controversial”– he could have just staged her murder when she showed up at his gig three months ago, given her too-pretty face the Carrie treatment of fake blood, made her the haunting thing he sings about night after night –“and you’re not reinventing a damn, look at you,” he mutters, tucking a lock of her hair behind her ear as her bubblegum makes a loud popping sound, “you’re still the fucking beauty queen, all sparkly and wholesome, except that you’ve just about remembered you’ve got a bite to you.”

“The bite’s new,” she says, worries, exhales, and her voice is too small all of a sudden, “and I am doing something with my voice that–”

“Sounds perfect,” he interrupts, plucking her phone out of her fingers and throwing it onto the much bigger couch opposite their seat, “and don’t you make yourself small, you’re already too tiny as it is”– and her annoyed huff is just what he’d hoped to hear, even when the elbow that lands in his side is too sharp –“just fuck what they say, Tatia, they don’t know you like I do.”

He doesn’t realize how badly he’s messed up – he never calls her Tatia out loud, never admits to knowing her so well even though he’s spent every waking moment of new heaven and new earth’s recording sessions with her this past month – until she turns toward him and he spies the flicker of gold-specked light in her eyes that he’s only ever seen from her when she cares about what happens next.

HE WAS DELUSIONAL, there were THOUGHTS pounding through his mind. He blinked when he heard this voice clipping into his mind, seemingly pushing past the borders of sanity. He must've been pulled from some body of water, because he was damp. Now, however, he was in some type of Pharmacy? Some type of place? Whoever had put him here-- was just about to leave-- which is why he'd shot up, and why he could now feel hands on his body. "N-No!! Get off of me!!" He moved to shoot up, but there was a weight on his body. HE REMEMBERED FALLING OUT OF-- Falling from... somewhere... He crashed into a body of water-- remembering choking on smoke, his eyes strained from what he remembered to be sparks of flame and fire.

HE WAS WEARING CLOTHES that looked... ragged... scavenged. His green cargo jacket was opened, his black T-Shirt underneath was ripped at the seams, his black jeans had holes in them. He had cotton ripped from the seams and he was trying- still-- too push himself up. He looked down at his feet. "Where are my shoes--" He muttered softly, trying to roll out of the bed of the pharmacy. He grabbed the nearby person-- who seemed to be-- well, in the most accurate way to describe her, this woman was utterly BEAUTIFUL. However, he had other things to think about, that didn't mean that his BRIGHT Golden eyes weren't examining her as if he was making first contact.

He was a slender man, tall- but with bright pink hair and bright golden eyes. His skin was pale and he seemed to be of a medium build. What this Woman did not know, about this man-- THE DOCTOR-- was that he'd has just REGENERATED. He has thirteen lives, and in moments where his current life receives a fatal injury, every cell in his body re-adjusts itself in order to save itself. It's essentially like hitting one great big reset button, in which personality and physical features change in one moment- and that has just happened, now. However, on occasion: Regeneration causes a great big blast of energy. That blast of energy has caused damage to--

"THE TARDIS!!" He suddenly shouted, out, using this woman as a support and looking toward her with shocked eyes and a distressed glare. He moved to pull this woman closer-- all the thoughts suddenly folding inward on him as he tried to keep himself steady. Fighting off The Regenerative sickness was like trying to power through a fever-- "Miss- Madam!! Please--!! Listen to me, you must listen--!" He heard the sound of his voice for the first time. Finally, someone EDUCATED and proper. "I-- I am not... of your world-- I need--" He moved to stumble backward onto the Pharmacy Cot- but instead he just shot up onto his feet- as if he was trying to learn them for the first time.

"No- No!! Forget it, I'll-- Thank you so much for your help-- I need to get going." He stumbled out of the pharmacy and into the Harbor's streets.

Reverse Unpopular Opinion: Aquaman

I don't think I've ever had as much fun watching a big action blockbuster on theaters as I did when watching Aquaman, and I definitely don't think I ever enjoyed watching a live-action superhero film in theaters as much as I did Aquaman. I don't usually watch superhero films unprompted and I've never been very interested in Aquaman in general, and I was going to skip it, but my mom wanted to watch it because Jason Momoa was in it, and I was really curious as to how they were going to handle Black Manta, so we went along and we all had a really, really great time.

It was basically like learning Aquaman existed for the first time and just being sold on the idea of this really cool character with a really rich setting for adventures in a movie that's just, brash and bold and proud of itself and the cool things it wants to show you and so, so goddamn big. I don't think I've ever seen a film in theaters that felt so "BIG" in such an overpowering way, and I watched 2001 in theaters. I loved that the movie was so unabashedly colorful, with all these terrific recreations of the comic outfits. They didn't try to make them more realistic or do that thing movies usually do with superhero costumes, no they just straight up put them 1-to-1 on screen and just, honestly I don't have much interest in superheroes if they aren't allowed to be as colorful and over-the-top as they can get away with.

I think this movie is kinda what was missing from the other Aquaman stuff I had watched up until that point, that sense of unbridled joy and wonder that really should always be there to a character like him. I don't want Atlantean politics and I don't want a story that's desperately trying to be grim and serious to offset a reputation as a joke, I want to enjoy reading Aquaman and I want an Aquaman who enjoys being Aquaman, because being Aquaman is awesome, at least in this film. He's Tarzan-meets-King-Arthur On The Beach, this outcast from both worlds who gets the best of both with zero downsides to become it's greatest hero. He's super strong and tough and flies and he's a great fighter, and he can TALK to fish because the fish are his friends, and he swims with sharks and calls in Cthulhus to help out in a fight, and he rules Atlantis and he hangs out with the Justice League, just, why did it take 50+ decades for someone to take a look at this and decide, wow, this is FUN, let's make a FUN film about this guy and rake A BILLION DOLLARS.

And it was such a kind film too, I loved what a kind character Arthur is and how his biggest victories in the film come from kindness. He takes selfies with the bar thugs even though he doesn't like people and even enjoys himself a little, he addresses people in their language when saving them, he is deemed worthy of becoming Aquaman because he actually talks to the monster instead of fighting it and wants it purely to protect his people and not to prove he's worthy, and he's haunted the entire film by the one time he failed this principle and let Manta's father die, and it's a mistake he doesn't make again even when no one would fault him for doing so. I think this gives the film a lot of heart.

And oh man I fucking LOVED Manta in this film, what a perfect representation of the character. I already had a good idea of what kind of character Manta was as this hilariously petty arch-asshole who killed Aquaman's family and, if I remember, had stories where he faked autism to get close enough to Aquaman, or completely abandoned a regular life the second he heard Aquaman came back to life, and whose sheer obsession with Aquaman became a meme, and before the movie I saw this really great video on Instagram of Abdul-Mateen II at home talking Hulk Hogan/Randy Savage lines into a trash can to create this growly metal voice filter, talking about how he was GONNA GUT AQUAMAN LIKE A FISH TO MAKE AQUA-TUNA BREAKFEST BROTHER and just -

Man, I can't begin to describe the sheer joy it was to watch every second of this guy making filet out of the scenery, and especially the above scene where he gets his own cheesy power-up montage of him building the suit. I think this may be actually one of my favorite scenes in any superhero film and I think villains getting heroic power-up montages is a super great idea that I want to happen much more often.

To recap, the last thing I learned was that apparently, Jiggy married his own sister because Jin Guangshan was a scumbag who raped more women than he could possibly remember

I was told by several people that this episode is their favourite. No pressures or anything :D

The way someone is dragging up Jiggy's secrets has a lot of poetic justice to it. Everyone is outraged and gossiping. Consensus is reached quickly. Kinda makes me feel that that someone (who probably also wrote the letter to jgy) knows exactly how to use the sect world's worst qualities as a weapon

And again, I cannot stress enough how wonderful that is! And how rare and precious in a show like this. So often character's get put through unimaginable trauma, but they either brush it off no problem or the show/movie ends immediately after the main action and you are left to imagine the number it did on the character's psyche. There are so rarely fantasy shows that really dive into the emotional fallout the plot has on their characters and then give them time to heal. Thus show does both and I'm so goddamn overjoyed my it!

Come to think of it, it reminds me of a very good hurt/comfort fic 🤷‍♀️

Jiang Cheng pleae, fir once, try not to be angry immediately when you're hurting :(

He still takes special offence that lwj is there. Makes me wonder if he still feels like wwx chooses lwj over the Jiang sect and is still hurt by it 😔 (note that at the same time, he reminds wwx that he's very much not a member of the Jiang clan anymore. God, the man has not worked through his own feelings ...)

For once, as much as I love it when lwj defends wwx (especially when it's not against any physical harm, but because he doesn't want wwx to be hurt emotionally) I think him interfering with this particular conflict does not help

Okay sorry, but no! lotus pier was not destroyed because wwx saved lwj in that cave. That was just an excuse for the Wen sect. They would have come eventually anyway

He's still hurt because he feels wwx chooses anyone else over his family, which is to say him

And he probably can't understand because their positions are so different. The (future) sect leader and the son of a (dead) servant and a rogue cultivator who never felt quite like he belonged 😔

It's so goddamn tragic how much between these two was destroyed simply because they have such a different status in society and could never quite understand each other's perspective

And again, wwx just takes it 💔

Until, that is, lwj's honour gets besmirched

Jiang Cheng's every action screams that he still loves his brother and that amidst all that pain for his lost family, is also deep betrayal and grieve for the brother he thought he could always count on 🥺💔

Can we appreciate for a second how much this shot tells us? From Jiang Cheng's angry desperation, to Wei Wuxian's quite acceptance of his rage (which must be so confusing to Jiang Cheng and probably hurt him even more. Because fighting is always how these two resolved their issues!) to Lan Wangji who is in full on protective mode (which I find more than heartwarming,but still think probably isn't helpful rn)

Huh, this episode was a roller coaster. you guys did NOT exaggerate! I loved it to pieces. I'm floored once more by all the actor's performances. Wen Ning revealed a lot about his character, Jiang Cheng broke my heart, Lan Wangji made it melt and Shijie is still able to make me bawl in an instant. But ... I'm not left with a bitter feeling. Sure, jiang Cheng and wei Wuxian havebt reconciled, but the truth is the first step to even have that possibility. Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji are both healing and whatever happens in the last 4 (4!!!😭) episodes, I'm not dreading it that much right now. I feel like we're climbing upwards :)
