⚔️ // byleth blinked as wynter snuggled into her lap . at first , uncertainty bid her hand hesitate . but the little one was something of a kindred spirit in his own right , and so she found her hand gently petting the creature between the ears as it soaked in her warmth . the silence was comfortable . but , it would not last . for there was something on byleth's mind .
a strange sixth sense , ignited — and in truth , had been lit for quite some time .
Tumblr media
"marcellus . . .?" byleth asked , keeping her eyes locked upon little wynter as she spoke, "may i ask you about your . . . other form?"

Marcellus scratched at his scales absentmindedly as he took a swallow of his drink. It was pretty good for a random bar, but luckily it was fairly lowkey while being upscale. The clientele seemed relaxed while maintaining a lively enough air. He glanced up as someone moved to sit near him at the bar.
"Hello~ Lovely night for a drink~"

٠ ࣪⭑ He gulped. It's not that he didn't want to believe him. Cause yeah sure, size and appearance didn't matter that much ( noisemaster was just as scary as rosemaster to him ) ... but he doesn't really have a lot going on in terms of magic either.
But it seemed Mister Marcellus had a plan, so all Cucumber could do was trust in that. He looks towards the culprit and nods quietly. His shaking hands grip his wand tightly as he makes his way towards the criminal.
Once gets close enough he holds his wand out.
Tumblr media
" H-HEY YOU! " he tries to shout, but his voice cracks. The perp turns around quickly, revealing several tools in his hand. The man was shabby looking, in a long trench coat and fedora. " W-whatever crime you're doing... you... you better stop! " he realized he came a little under-prepared.
"awe buzz off kid." the guy shouts back at him, standing up straight in a defensive position. "just mindya own business and nobody's gotta get hurt." he held the tools in his hands tighter. He was here to do a job, and some lousy goodie two-shoes wasn't going to get in his way.
Cucumber's shocked expression warrants a laugh from Marcellus. He shakes his head and gently pats the small boy, "you can be scary too. Doesn't matter your size and what you look like." Chuckling, he motions for Cucumber to follow,
"And you won't have to worry about scaring anyone. I'll do the scaring," he looks to Cucumber with a wink.
Now, where did that guy disappear off to? Marcellus inhales taking in the different scents and...."found him. Over there." He points to a corner.
"I won't let anything happen to you," he reassures again.

youtube
In this episode ML Smith from Missourians to Abolish the Death Penalty will join us to talk about the campaign to Free Khaliifah.
Set to be executed on September 24th unless we can stop it. This thread contains the four actions you can take to help stop the execution of Khaliifah before its too late: https://x.com/MADPMO/status/183641940...
Marcellus “Khaliifah” Williams is an innocent man who has been on Missouri’s death row for over 24 years. A devout Muslim, Khaliifah adopted the Islamic name Khaliifah Ibn Rayford Daniels upon his Shahada and currently serves as the Imam at the Potosi Correctional Center (PCC). He is a loving father, mentor, and respected leader within the incarcerated community. Additionally, Khaliifah is an accomplished poet who has dedicated much of his time in prison to studying Islam and writing poetry. He has an exemplary prison record and is widely respected both within PCC and beyond.
For more information visit: https://www.freekhaliifah.org.
Michelle "ML" Smith, Co-Director of Missourians to Abolish the Death Penalty (MADPMO) Michelle is a criminal punishment system-impacted advocate, abolitionist, and activist who experienced incarceration during the COVID-19 pandemic; which made her more intimately aware of the dire reality faced by our imprisoned populations as well as the egregious actions and apathetic behavior by the vast majority of institution staff and administrators. Her existence within the intersections of being Black, a woman, disabled, systems impacted, and experiencing generational poverty are the foundations of her ideological framework, which is rooted in advocating for those suffering & struggling within a society created, built, and carried out to oppress, marginalize, and dehumanize targeted vulnerable communities. She is dedicated to using her experiences, knowledge, determination, and voice in the struggle for equity, justice and recognition of humanity.

@argument-side-blog cause I can’t reblog your post for whatever reason
"You’re missing the entire point of my argument. I am not saying that catholicism is right."
No, in that case, it is actually YOU who is missing the point of MY argument. Because if you cannot respond to the multiple different places where I've challenged the false teachings, evil deeds and inherent corruption of the Catholic Church, whatever else you might have to say is basically pointless.
That’s not what we’re discussing. This evidence is irrelevant in the context of the question of whether Augustine is catholic or not. This evidence is redundant because you’ve sent it to me before. I am getting to it, but this post is about Saint Augustine. Please start a new one if you’d like to discuss something on an entirely different topic
It's like saying "Yeah sure, we allied with the nazis, raped kids and lied about the origin of our authority to do these things, but my guy Augustine over here said it's cool!"
why is this relevant
We can talk about the evils that come from the people in the church, but why are we talking about it on a post about what saint augustine believes
Send me an ask or something to start another thread about a different topic if you want to talk about a different topic
So even setting aside the fact that your argument is factually wrong and you have de facto already surrendered the debate by agreeing that the overwhelming majority of what I've said is true,
How the hell is my argument factually wrong? I presented things that Augustine has said that contradict what you said. I did say some stuff about Tradition, but that’s irrelevant in the context of the question of whether Augustine is catholic or not. What did I agree with that you take as a surrendering of debate?
even if we say your supposed defense of Augustine is valid, why would I even care?
You’re literally a Christian my guy you’re supposed to look for the truth
In that case Augustine should just spend eternity in a dark place with the rest of the Catholics.
You’re literally a Christian my guy you’re supposed to love your enemy
"You also argued that Augustine believed in sola scriptura so i responded with citations of primary texts in which he says that Tradition is actually good, which as far as i know is a no-no with sola scriptura, so i did respond to your argument"
You quoted a few things he said, giving no context to when, where or to whom he said them, and then you mic dropped as if that proved your argument. You provided no sources and only minimal rhetorical support for your claim.
Did you read my post
I linked the primary texts
I gave instructions on where to look
But sure, here you go:
"For if the lineal succession of bishops is to be taken into account, with how much more certainty and benefit to the Church do we reckon back till we reach Peter himself, to whom, as bearing in a figure the whole Church, the Lord said: Upon this rock will I build my Church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it! Matthew 16:18 The successor of Peter was Linus, and his successors in unbroken continuity were these:— Clement, Anacletus, Evaristus, Alexander, Sixtus, Telesphorus, Iginus, Anicetus, Pius, Soter, Eleutherius, Victor, Zephirinus, Calixtus, Urbanus, Pontianus, Antherus, Fabianus, Cornelius, Lucius, Stephanus, Xystus, Dionysius, Felix, Eutychianus, Gaius, Marcellinus, Marcellus, Eusebius, Miltiades, Sylvester, Marcus, Julius, Liberius, Damasus, and Siricius, whose successor is the present Bishop Anastasius."
This quote is given in the context of Augustine writing to a friend who received a letter from a donatist. This specific Donatist apparently rejected the See because of corruption (donatists believed that ministers had to be sinless for sacraments to work or something) and Augustine spoke about the succession in the donatist’s city and then in Rome. He calls back to Apostolic succession in this quote.
Translated by J.G. Cunningham. From Nicene and Post-Nicene Fathers, First Series, Vol. 1. Edited by Philip Schaff. (Buffalo, NY: Christian Literature Publishing Co., 1887.) Revised and edited for New Advent by Kevin Knight. <http://www.newadvent.org/fathers/1102053.htm>.
"For already have two councils on this question been sent to the Apostolic see; and rescripts also have come from thence. The question has been brought to an issue; would that their error may sometime be brought to an issue too!"
This quote is from a sermon on which Saint Augustine speaks on the line ‘unless you eat the flesh’; at the end (that which is quoted) he says that the Apostolic See gets the final say, and that we should listen to the end which Rome comes to.
Translated by R.G. MacMullen. From Nicene and Post-Nicene Fathers, First Series, Vol. 6. Edited by Philip Schaff. (Buffalo, NY: Christian Literature Publishing Co., 1888.) Revised and edited for New Advent by Kevin Knight. <http://www.newadvent.org/fathers/160381.htm>.
"As to those other things which we hold on the authority, not of Scripture, but of tradition, and which are observed throughout the whole world, it may be understood that they are held as approved and instituted either by the apostles themselves, or by plenary Councils, whose authority in the Church is most useful, e.g. the annual commemoration, by special solemnities, of the Lord's passion, resurrection, and ascension, and of the descent of the Holy Spirit from heaven, and whatever else is in like manner observed by the whole Church wherever it has been established."
This quote is from a letter to a friend who is wondering why different dioceses have different traditions (little t traditions, not Sacred Tradition). Augustine states at the beginning that certain things are permanent because of Scripture and Tradition, and that things like fasting on certain days are not necessarily bound by either.
<http://www.newadvent.org/fathers/1102054.htm>.
I could quote and explain the other ones, but the important part is that they mention Tradition as a source of authority. Continuing
In my original post, I quoted Augustine (keeping in mind that you have not disputed the quote itself),
Yes i did
Multiple times
I explicitly said that the paragraph you quoted actually says the opposite of what you say it says twice now
gave contextual explanation of why I felt the quote supported my view of the situation,
it doesn’t
then cited several additional sources which also presented the same thesis with additional supporting facts.
Here's the thing, not only did you misunderstand the quote by not reading the entire passage, but Augustine clearly elsewhere relies on Tradition as a source of authority. All he says in this passage, which btw, I have said like eight times now, is that we should be skeptical of anything new that we read. He also says that we can use the opinions of others that we know to be true because of divine help to see whether something is right or not. You quoted something that actively argues against your own point.
Sorry, but I'm going to say that my original argument still stands, even aside from the fact that your rebuttal was irrelevant.
You didn’t read my rebuttal
"I’ve hit at least two links that lead to a page that says there’s nothing to be found"
Then you are either lying or there is a technical problem on your end, because as I said, I double checked every single link I provided and they all worked. Either way, not my fault.
Technical problem I think. I can no longer see your blog. Sometimes tumblr lets me see your posts and sometimes it says they don’t exist
"These are massive questions..."
It isn't a question. There are no questions here. I haven't asked you a question.
Did you read the sentence before that one??? I said it in reference to the article which you sent me? It contains many questions about what tradition is. I imagine if you sent me the article that you wanted me to be concerned with its substance?
I gave you evidence that the Catholic Church is evil and that it has lied about it's pedigree. You can agree that I'm right, or you can explain how I'm wrong.
Fantastic. How does this coincide with Augustine’s being catholic. Because this is what this post is about, isn’t it?
And as you did in this latest response, you have mostly agreed that the majority of my argument is factually accurate.
What does that prove? Majority is not entirety.
You have only "disagreed" to a limited extent by either quoting Augustine or by making some vague philosophical objections.
It’s not vague, it’s broad. Ask narrower questions and I’ll give narrower answers.
If this debate were being judged by an outside party, I think it is safe to say they wouldn't be voting for you at this point.
It’s a good thing truth isn’t democratic isn’t it
"We literally agree with this"
See what I mean?
Because we do?
"Tradition is only Tradition if it agrees with scripture If it doesn’t, it’s not Tradition"
That isn't actually what the Catholic Church teaches or says.
Yes it does CCC 80 they must flow out of the same stream, they must be in agreement
According to the Catholic Church, it's clerics, priests, popes, etc, can write new rules and traditions at any time and those writings are given equal weight as scripture.
nope
If the new traditions and other church doctrines appear to conflict with scripture, rather than answering those contradictions, Catholics merely say things like "we wrote the bible so we know what it means" or "only the church has authority to interpret scripture."
No we don’t
Catholics never explain or defend their interpretation of scripture beyond invoking their exclusive authority, which is the circular reasoning which I cited earlier.
Yes we do
The Catholic Church also plays shell games with the supposed "infallibility" of the Pope, as I have previously pointed out.
The pope is not the same entity as the church, you realize this right? The pope has free will and can be a sinner if he so chooses. This is why there’s this specific regulation in place.
And I do not see how Augustine, having explicitly said that laypersons had every right to question so-called church authorities, would support such blatant abuse of power. Not that I care what Augustine thinks either way, but I remain unconvinced that he would support the obvious heresy and hypocrisy which is the modern day Roman Catholic Church.
How about the passage i quoted where he says that rome gets the final say and that we should listen to rome
"You assume that I don't have a life... Be patient."
I don't make assumptions about you, other than that you are Catholic and that you seem unable to explain where my arguments are wrong. And considering both of those assumptions are supported by the available facts, I believe they are justified assumptions.
It’s very difficult to read anything you send from a practical standpoint because every link leads to eighteen other links which in turn lead to even more and so on and so on and so on
So yes, i am not unable to explain that your arguments are wrong, i am unable to read a huge collection of arguments in a short time period. It takes me hours to get through a single article from the summa. There is a difference.
I have a life too. And Reformation Day is over. I've got other stuff to do this week, including preparing for Pope Night as my next Catholic bashing holiday of choice.
Glad you’re keeping up with your hobbies
And since this is my post and my blog, I'm going to invoke home rule
You invited me to this particular post, I say be hospitable (and rational).
and say you need to play by my rules and my timetable. If you haven't got a response because you need to go "research" more, so be it.
I know you’d like me to say stupid shit so you can go oh look stupid catholics but actually no i’m not gonna do that
What possible reason would you have to restrict someone to a specific timetable in an internet debate? If we were talking in person and I sat down for four days, sure. But we aren’t. So why?

There is an historic thread tying right-wingers who today call everything left of them communism, who label anti-racist and social justice movements like BLM terrorism, and the anti–civil rights racists and red-baiting McCarthyite “traditionalists” of yesteryear. You want to know who was actually canceled by these sorts? Abolitionist Cassius Marcellus Clay, who was ordered by a court to stop printing his abolitionist newspaper The True American, had all his printing machines stolen by an angry racist mob, and was twice the target of attempted assassinations. Callie House, mother of five and a formerly enslaved woman who fought for reparations for emancipated black folks, who was railroaded on phony mail fraud charges in 1917 and served a year in the Missouri State Penitentiary. Labor leader and Socialist Party Chair Eugene Debs, who spent more than two years in jail for a 1918 anti-war speech.
There was also Paul Robeson, who had his passport revoked by the US State Department for his political beliefs and was forced to spend more than a decade living abroad. Racism and red-scare hysteria also canceled the acting career of Canada Lee, who was blacklisted from movies and died broke in 1952 at the age of 45. The song “Mississippi Goddam” got Nina Simone banned from the radio and much of the American South, and the Federal Bureau of Narcotics essentially hounded Billie Holiday to death for the sin of stubbornly refusing to stop performing the anti-lyching song “Strange Fruit.”
But really, we don’t even have to look that far back in time for examples of right-wing cancellation.

⚔️ // byleth's flame cast a warm glow across the steps of the train station's walls , and dark shadows into its cracks and crevices. byleth treaded carefully , and had warned the others to do much the same. the station had always been something of an oddity in downtown arcanus. it was one of the few places that had always been left abandoned. and seemingly for a long while.
cobwebs were strung across the rafters high overhead , and the cool stone within which the station had been carved was rife with large cracks and crumbling debris from disrepair. ornate tiles that must have once brightly shone were faded and cracked , but still remained in the archways of the station.
byleth came to pause only when they had descended far enough to come across the archway that had read , in large ornate letters , sonata station. the ticket booth and entrance tunstiles were further within.

"this was the last place the girl seemed to have seen before her communications stopped," byleth noted, lifting her flame higher. "i'd imagine she went farther in. but let's take a good look around just in case."

"Welcome in! I'll be right there!" Comes the call from the doorway behind the shop's main counter. It's followed by the rustling of paper, and clinking of glass, along with a little bit of thoughtful muttering...but before long, it quiets, and Zeqyabin steps through the door. "Oh, Marcy! Hey! Rare to have you come by...what's up? Did you need something, or are you just hanging out?"
(@soulsxng)
Tumblr media
"Zebiiiiii!!!!" Marcellus trotted over with a wave, propping himself on the main counter of the shop. His eyes bounced around, trying to see if any thing had changed in the shop since he'd been in last. "I was in the area and just got done at my niece's shop down the street. Y'know, the skin care one that just opened up?" The Dresiae grinned. "I wanted to check in on my favorite solar demon!"

⋆˙⟡ She couldn't help but feel a touch of warmth on her cheeks. If sunflowers were one of his favorites, then it would most certainly be her duty to show them to him!
And lead them she did down the path towards the fields she wished to show him. Tae, she was certain, would be able to find them again ( lilith was happy to have more company, regardless. ) as the sun was beginning to set just above them, there was something she'd wanted to see in these fields too... she thinks Marcellus would like it.
Tumblr media
" I would be delighted to share about Concordia! " it was certainly one of her favorite topics. She could speak endlessly about her world, thus the agreement was settled upon.
" Well, Sir Marcellus. What is the place that you are from called? If I may ask as a reference for our exchange? " Oh, she was very excited to learn more of his home. ( it was a timeless joy of hers to simply know more. to hear of wonderful lands that others might enjoy someday. )
He links his arm around hers loosely once she takes it and starts walking, though he'll let her be the one to lead them. She allows a stream of words to pass her lips and there's a sense of guilt, perhaps? It wasn't like he was avoiding her. Quite the contrary.
Tumblr media
"Sunflowers are one of my favorites. Back home where I grew up in, we had a similar flower to them." And with her bringing these to his attention, he's decided...
"How about on our way there, we share a little bit of everything about our world? I've realized there's much I don't know about when it comes to Concordia. I would love to hear all about it."

for yoon marcellus — @kcrtia from yoon mirabelle
“you can’t just do that to her, she’s our mother!” disbelief evident in her voice, raising almost to a scream as she settles herself down, takes a deep breath and avoids eye contact with her brother. despite their mother only being her step mother, mirabelle was always thankful for the roof that was given over her head. always thankful for the bed she was given at the end of the day. her arms come to cross in front of her, not having been able to comprehend her brother’s actions. “i can’t believe you have the nerve to do what you did...” she mutters under her voice, her brother had made the decision to send their mother into a care home, not only that, but to have be placed in the cheapest room by the dumpsters.
“marcellus.” she speaks, this time attempting to be more firm, “marcellus, you can’t do this. what if the media catches this? what if someone in the care home leaks this information? what then? what then, marcellus?” her voice only raising as she speaks, frustration evident this time around. “i understand your dislike towards her, but this... this is... this uncalled for!” she strikes back again. she understands how her brother feels towards their mother. disdain on mirabelle’s own end, with her mother never having treated her right, always slamming her for things she could not control.
Tumblr media
their mother, constantly reminding them that happiness was something they could not possess, not in this lifetime with her at least. a morbid sentiment that always drew them together. their mother’s own unhappiness projected onto her children, the yoon kid’s were left to suffer alone in silence. “please, rethink this marcellus.”

@piiqucd liked your post “here’s a starter call folks! go ahead and like or reblog this post for...”
marcellus is making a daily commute to the grocery store for food for his grandfather when he suddenly stumbles into someone. he drops not only the bags full of produce, but the phone he was looking at while he was walking, as well. he himself fell to the ground with heavy impact, producing a thud that would turn the heads of anyone in the vicinity.
❝ oof . . . ❞ it’s a moment before he recovers from the surprise and the pain of the impact enough to sit up and see what --- or in this case, who --- he ran into. unfortunately, it seems that he ran into someone --- someone who, incidentally, looks particularly displeased at having been run into that way. embarrassed, he purses his lips and narrows his eyes, but doesn’t look away, or even get up just yet.
          ❝ sorry. i didn’t see you. ❞

closed starter for ➤  @tewwor. plot ➤ Suspicious of the serial killings, Orion trails and catches his boyfriend and fellow hunter, Marcellus killing a supernatural couple, all that remains of the small family is a helpless child.
Tumblr media
Feet barely making a sound, Orion walks down the driveway of the house with his ears and eyes open for any surprises. It was a plain house, nothing out of place, nothing particularly noteworthy. Yet, Orion knew there was more to it than what the quiet place let on. He could smell it in the stale summer air.
Carefully, he turned the knob to the entrance. As predicted, it was unlocked, so he let himself in, leaving the door almost shut. Despite wearing a jacket, he could feel a sense of foreboding prickle at his skin. “God, I hope my suspicions are false,” he muttered under his breath, barely audible to his own ears. Yet, he knew he was basing his hopes on his feelings. The feelings he had for the man he’d been in a relationship with for a few years now.
A floorboard creaked, and he whipped around, training his gun at the source of the sound. Being a trained hunter, his eyes had adjusted to the darkness quickly, so he didn’t have to squint to see clearly. Nothing, no movement.
He moved in the direction from where he’d heard the sound, ready to shoot at anything that planned to jump at him. Supernatural creatures had the nasty habit of surprising from the shadows. Finding nothing, he turned left when something caught his ears. Careful steps took the flight of stairs leading down to the basement, from where he could hear a murmur of voices floating up. He had to say, the place was impressively sound proofed. If only they had remembered to close the door.
Reaching the last step, what Orion found made his heart sink.
