thinking again about li lianhua trapping di feisheng in an array of his own making (i assume) that's literally called the pear blossom array of love-longing when pear blossoms also signify a pure love and a willingness to wait a lifetime for another. and also the pain and sorrow of parting from each other bc of homophonous fuckery (as always in chinese). he always knew he would have to leave his lao-di behind.
