#{{I’m a serious rper of a very serious character}}

Ok I am yet another person here to anonymously dump some thoughts LOL. Especially since I haven’t been able to get over “the nether incident.”
I don’t mind character criticisms of q!foolish, I think any characters or viewers who are sus of his intentions are completely valid. I didn’t mind that q!forever was going to exclude him from the nether plan and I even had no issue with q!pac/mikes prank. BUT! It does low key make me sad when people maybe don’t appreciate the role Foolish plays as the punching bag?
This is the first MC RP server I’ve ever watched (used to main gta nopixel which has must stricter RP rules and expectations) and since the beginning I’ve realized that he RP etiquette is quite a bit looser (ex: a big chunk of viewers still not knowing what meta gaming means lul). So I feel like Foolish’s RP generosity is pretty overlooked.
To me, what I appreciate in a roleplayer isn’t just someone who’s constantly wrapped up in serious lore and complicated plot lines, but someone who can always roll with the punches and elevates the RP of those around them by constantly giving and taking. It isn’t easy to find someone who’s always willing to the the “loser” to others bits because it’s a lot to bear. And I feel like those who maybe don’t watch Foolish very often (which is understandable, it’s hard with so many POVs or maybe he’s simply not for everyone) may not realize that it’s not just during events that he’s treated as a joke, it’s pretty much every single day LOL.
Anyway idk where I was going with this and it’s getting too long, but I appreciate how he’s been surprisingly good at improv. And I’m not trying to say he’s an absolute prodigy main character rper or anything, just that I’ve been pleasantly surprised that he alone has provided more emotional and hilarious RP moments than I ever experienced watching nopixel
Yes yes yes yes and million more yes Anon!!!
The way Foolish elevates others' rp through his 'yes and' improv skills will never cease to amaze me. It's kinda sad how people don't see him more than the "joke character" most of the time since he's shown time and time again that he can also be more than the butt of the joke (i.e being Slime's emotional support himbo, reassuring Leo's fears, being there for Cellbit when he was alone, confronting Forever, and so much more)
Foolish is always ready to back up anyone who wants to do a funny bit, but he's also always ready to support anyone who wants to do a serious roleplay moment. Not only that, he's also ready AND able to pull someone into the spotlight whenever he feels like it's necessary (he's just charismatic like that). He is so flexible when it comes to support roles, which makes him such a fun pov to watch. He doesn't take on the main role majority of the time, but he's always involved in the story, so it's not hard to keep up with the lore when I watch him.

Hi all!
Roleplay Break is now over. It is officially time for SEASON II of askprophetbot!
I have a few asks from before / during the break that I’ll use to get us started, and we’ll be (hopefully) right back into the swing of things!
I don’t remember shit, so without referencing the old pinned post, there will be some important stuff under the cut!
Hi welcome to under the cut!
PROPHETBOT IS OPEN FOR ASKS!
M!As are no longer accepted*.
This is a heavily plot-focused and more serious RP blog. Asks are recommended to stick to the story, but may diverge, or be sillier than the theme, however, don’t always expect a silly response. Asking Alula about wanting to eat fish may devolve into a long ramble from her about how much she hates Calamus***.
Please note that the list of Characters available for Asks will change over time. The following characters are currently available for asks:
Prophetbot
Silver
Calamus
Alula
Magpie
Kip****
Ram Herder
There are no other rules as to what you can ask, however, I reserve the right to delete any asks I do not want to answer, for any reason. Please use common sense.
*You may send them in, but they will only apply for that specific ask, and anything involving a M!A will not be considered Canon**. Expect any M!As to take longer to post than a normal ask.
**none of the prior M!As were considered canon.
***I believe something like this has actually happened. I don’t think this exactly, but Goth Alula is a very traumatized character.
****Kip will not be available for asks quite shortly.
———————————
Ok. Now that that’s been covered, LORE RECAP!!!!
Except I’m not going to do it, Instead I let some friends over discord explain the lore for me!
Thank you various other Tumblr RPers. I hope this is enough recap for you because I’m not adding anything!!

Adding Two Blog Rules
Followers, this is me being serious. In fact, this is my serious post. It's where I come to be serious. This post is the most serious post I can write. I thought about many, many posts. Hundreds of posts. It's possible I brain-stormed over a thousand posts, I honestly don't know. The specific number isn't as important as the understanding that of all the posts that I considered, this one is the most serious.
Okay, now that the gentle humor introduction has been used, this is a post about two rules that I have been thinking about for a few months now. There’s a lot of emotions that I could add to this, because it does matter a lot to me— but I’m going to be cut dry and straight forward instead, to save myself the time and energy.
Unprompted IC harassment, aggression, attacks, pranks and insults directed towards my muse, along with excessive crack posting sent to my ask box, is no longer going to be responded to. It is genuinely not fun for me to respond to when I am constantly receiving it, and 90% of the time, I have no idea how to respond to it in character.
I want to write serious content. Writing is my passion. It makes me legitimately sad and disappointed when the majority of my ask box is full of asks of the above mentioned behavior. I have tons of worldbuilding and lore, and when that gets overlooked, in favor of crack and the harassment and the insults, it also makes me feel— silly? And a little discouraged, as if I am putting in a ton of effort to research my character, and write headcanons, for no reason.
I’m really happy that I make people laugh— but I do not want all of my muses to be reduced to funny dashboard guys.
Of course, if I’m primarily writing serious content with somebody, and they send the occasional funny, there’s nothing wrong with that. It is the constant, repetitive sending of asks like this— when it is the only thing that is being sent to me by somebody, and the only form of IC interaction. I don’t want interaction just for the sake of interaction. Not every muse is going to mesh.
If you have a burning urge to jump into my ask box unprompted, and you have no idea what to send IC, I’d really prefer if you sent me questions about my headcanons, thoughts on my muse, or if you looked through my ask meme tag —> ;;memes <- and sent me something from there.
2. Going forward, if you want to thread with me, you need to be willing to plot with me. I need the structure, and I need an overarching goal, in order to have motivation to write. Again, I want to write serious, meaningful content, it’s the type of writing that make me happy, and what I have fun with. I am no longer a young, 16 year old RPer with a lot of free time and energy; I used to be able to wing a lot of things, but I cannot do that anymore. I’m extremely busy, with very little free time to write, and I’d like to be able to spend that free time writing something enriching for me. This rule is very important, and is going to be followed strictly, so that I do not burn out, or get the ADHD paralysis that comes with having too many options.
These rules are not directed at anybody in particular. Please do not DM me to apologize or explain yourself if you feel as if these rules ARE directed at you specifically, because they are not; I’m laying down these boundaries so that I can have fun on my blogs, and not lose my muse.

Hey there! My rp side account is mr-rper-man, I’m only anonymous since you have to send asks via your main account 😔. I am 19 years old and use He/They pronouns. I’m looking for a partner who’s 18-24 and literate to advanced literate!
I’m primarily looking for a fandomless mxm rp! (Although the plots I have are based heavily on the Dark Is The Night series, written by Kelley York and Rowan Altwood).
As for plots honestly the only thing I’m itching for is something to do with ghosts or paranormal hunting, set in the 1800s (historical accuracy isn’t super important to me I’m gonna be real) and likely with a heavy lean on rivals/enemies to lovers!
The first plot would be set in a university, our characters reluctantly being roommates and possibly having an academic rivals relationship but getting closer as they both try to figure out the disappearances of multiple students on campus. [character ages ranging from 20 to 22]
This second one’s a lot more open to different things, I’d mainly hope to focus on older gents- or at least anything other than early twenties! They could both be ghost hunters(not a very well respected profession ofc) or only one of them could be! Idk, something about two men in suits bickering like an old married couple about the dead appeals to me very much.
•
As for other details I’m very open to NSFW! I also don’t have any serious triggers, so am also very open to super dark topics especially when it comes to the horror aspect the ghosts could bring, but if you have any I’m totally happy to have things be light! Just let me know ^^
If any of this strikes your fancy please don’t hesitate to dm my rp account, [mr-rper-man]. Or if you prefer to just interact with this post I’ll dm you from my main account!
Bye bye for now 🫀✨

Silv's Resolutions 2024
(Yes I'm using the same header twice leave me alone I worked hard on it lol)
Write your RPer Resolutions for 2024! (What are some goals for yourself as a writer? Improve descriptions? Plot with more members? Etc.)
Plan ahead a little better. I’m a very in-the-moment kind of plotter, which works for like day to day stuff, but for bigger plots it’s kind of a pain. I really loved doing Willow Shop, but it was super last minute and I would love to have more time for a plot like that to really come together.
Write at least one resolution, or “goal,” that you have as an RPer for your character(s)
Willow: Be more confident! Willow’s starting to come out of survival mode and her personality is starting to come through more, which I’m so excited to explore. I also want to fully expose her as a Magick and have her stop using her concealment stone. Enough people know and she’s slowly letting more people in that at some point keeping the secret is kind of impossible.
Clarion: Get messy. Clarion so far has been really composed and put together, and I really want to explore more of who she is underneath that. I also want her to become more active in town politically and really throw her weight around, so to speak. She came in too late to really do anything about the Eboshi situation, but I definitely want to get more involved in politics with her.
Write at least one resolution IN CHARACTER for your characters. What do THEY want to accomplish or change in the New Year?
Willow: Pass all her classes, keep working hard, don’t fuck up her friendships, figure out this whole fairy thing???
Clarion: Same as it is every year; protect the Hollow and do the best she can for her fairies.
List one or more characters you have never interacted with that you would like to do so
Maximus - His unintentionally-hilarious-Stick-in-the-Mud personality has captivated me lol
Emira - Willow has had it too good for too long with these Boiling Isles characters lmao, make her cryyyy
Bullseye - I Just Think He’s Neat, and my next character is a Horse Girl so they have so much to bond over lol
Paul - Look he keeps liking Willow’s tweets I need them to meet she needs a mentor with the same fucked up relationship w their magic that she does
Jessie - She and Clarion need to hang out and form a Queens Who Are Too Old For This club lol
Talk a bit about your plotting style – what plots are you most drawn to? Do you prefer to come with a fully-formed idea and plot off that, or throw stuff at the wall and see what sticks?
It honestly depends? I’m a pretty flexible plotter. I do love throwing things at the wall, especially since it gives me a bit of flexibility to add and change things if I feel they’ll fit better. Most of Willow Shop was kind of off the cuff, and as stated above, very last minute. I’m trying to get better about planning out in the long term what arcs my characters are going through instead of just going off of vibes alone.
Talk a bit about character relationships – what relationships are you most drawn to? How do you prefer to approach shipping (if at all!)? What, specifically, are you looking for right now for your character relationships?
Can I just say how delighted I am that Willow has found like her little group of people? I love the Weed Killers and her relationship with each of them is so lovely. I want her to start to branch out more from that little group she feels safe with and start to blossom into the chaotic lil extrovert she was always meant to be lol.
Clarion needs friends. Just in general. Being a 140+ year old monarch is fucking lonely, man, and there’s like one other fairy that’s even close to her age lol. All of our fairies are babieeeees. Also, she needs rivals. Serious or just for the Bit. I think that could be fun.
Oh boy, I love me a good romance. I have Plans for the coming year that I’m so excited for, especially since I haven’t had a proper RP Romance in a *while*. I’m a romantic at heart and I love the pining as much as I love the domestic stuff, and I really love AU shipping bc it just gives the opportunity to explore more beyond the realms of canon! That being said, I tend to avoid break ups when I can because they’re depressing as hell, and as much as I like to torment my characters, I really don’t want to be stuck in that headspace for too long, so I’m usually in it for keeps when it comes to ships unless we go into it together like “yeah they’re not gonna last, but it’s going to be fun!”
Plotting Exercise! Pick one of the resolutions/goals in #3 and plan a rough guideline to how you could accomplish it. Here’s an example.
Wing It Like Witches - Spring Break Edition!
The Boiling Isles comes to Swynlake! Specifically a bunch of uni students come to Swynlake for Spring Break, including the infamous Boscha. They cause General Mayhem all over town.
WILLOW and EILONWY run into Boscha and her friends in town and get into an argument when Boscha starts on Her Bullshit again, and Eilonwy challenges the visiting students to a Grudgby match to get them to back off once and for all. Stakes are if Willow’s team wins, Boscha and Co leave her alone. If Boscha’s team wins, Willow has to return to the Isles for the summer to be Boscha’s personal water girl.
WILLOW and AMITY work together to teach their friends how to play Grudgby for the match and Willow has a panic attack brought on by Boscha’s reappearance and general Grudgby Trauma
JESSICA helps calm Willow down and they talk about being out Magicks that aren’t necessarily liked or approved of in their respective homes
The Weed Killers get LILITH to act as referee for the match, as well as help them make an approximate Grudgby field near Atlantis Lake
WILLOW, AMITY, and EILONWY face off against Boscha and her team in front of the tow, with HUNTER having to sub in after Eilonwy gets injured. Boscha rips off Willow’s concealment stone, exposing her to the town, but Willow then uses her Talent to pull off the Thorn Vault and beat the opposing team.
WILLOW is now an Out Magick in town and does not wear her concealment stone anymore

i think tubbo’s rp style involves heavily mirroring that of those around him, which can lead to some really deep character moments when he’s with more serious rpers (like tommy and wilbur), but also leaves his character feeling a little ooc when he’s with a more humorous rper (like techno).
i’m not saying one is better than the other, cause that honestly depends on what style of lore you enjoy, but it can be off-putting when there’s a lot of important stuff happening that’s being handled very lightheartedly.

Please PLEASE go into detail about how protective he is over Chiaki!! I literally am begging to finally hear someone else actually acknowledge their friendship/relationship especially after having to deal with a pretty toxic anti-bi/pan Nagito rper I was on a server with for a good part of a year! (Sorry went kinda ranty but hopefully my anguish is understandable!)
Oh my lord, you’re giving me a chance to shine with my fixations?! I can’t thank you enough! Now, please understand that this is based on my perception of the series as I’ve played through the second game twice. I’m pretty good when it comes to being the person who has unpopular opinions and ships and I know claiming that Nagito is bi/pan/Demi is probably one of them. But honestly, it comes from the desire to see this boy get as much love as possible. Because he sure needs it.
Ultimately, Nagito’s sexuality is never canonly specified, so I think whether gay, bisexual, Pansexual, or what have you, we’re all well within our rights to just have fun and see what we want to in a really flawed and relatable character. And that’s what makes it interesting.
That being said, let’s talk about Nagito and Chiaki. Friendship or romantic, I don’t think you can deny that Chiaki is at least special to Nagito in some way.
Upon replaying the second game, I’ve realized how protective Nagito actually is towards Chiaki interestingly enough.
In chapter 2, she leaves to go question Fuyuhiko but Nagito stops her and tells her not to let Fuyuhiko get rough with her. Every time Chiaki’s skills help them advance, he deeply praises her. Even after he’s stopped praising all the others (which he does mostly after Chapter one, hinting he does not like some of them as actual people). But for some reason, especially during the trials, Nagito is quick to jump in and mention how wonderful Chiaki is and compliment her (only to be usually cut off by someone when he starts to ramble).
It should also be noted that Chiaki and Nagito both share an appreciation for games. Nagito seems to like more luck-based games for obvious reasons, but he also mentions that like Chiaki, he likes the Twilight Syndrome series. Both of them similarly state that they felt Monokuma was butchering a favorite game of theirs.
They also both have an odd way of trying to cheer Hajime up and joke with him, the examples shown coincidentally beside one another. Chiaki says she’s gonna look for a dirty book, throwing Hajime off and Nagito “jokingly” tells Hajime to lick his boots and now to him, but Hajime is extremely put off when he claims it was a joke. These oddballs get each other in the weirdest of ways is what I’m saying. They’re both incredibly antisocial, but their hearts are reaching the same place too when they try to make an effort.
In chapter 4, when Chiaki teams up with Nagito and Kazuichi, then leaves because they’re both being clingy, Nagito quickly follows and chases after her to make sure she’s okay. Then he chastised her for running off, looking deeply concerned. Even after his attitude change, he will answer her more directly and not ignore her. When she tells him to be quiet, he politely obeys... or maybe it’s because he’s deep in thought about her motives as he mentions he was watching the trial carefully to decide on who the traitor is.
I may just be mentioning this because they’re my OTP, but if you know about their school time together and pay attention to Nagito’s Hope versus Chiaki’s Hope, I think it’s fascinating.
Okay, now let’s head into Danganronpa 3 territory. Now this is the part where I am the most shaky as I’m still trying to determine what I take canon from this series. The thing is, a friend who got me into the series informed me that the production was way rushed and that Kodaka never wanted to do the anime in the first place. But! That being said, Chiaki and Nagito have some great moments in this and the anthology comics along with it, so let’s get into some stuff.
First of all, Nagito warmly mentions that Chiaki being their class rep makes her the true Hope of their class. And you can tell he’s serious because as he’s saying it, he’s doing that thing where he’s staring at his hand desperately like he wants eat it. You know the look.
Moving on, it’s clear that aside from Chisa, Chiaki is the only one to value and treasure Nagito. And this makes sense. In her own dying words, she loves her classmates. They are the world to her. All of them. And of course, she loves Nagito too with all her heart. As evidenced as she cradled him protectively in her arms while he’s injured. At first when Chiaki and the others are determined to stand up to Junko and get their teacher back, Nagito pleads with Chiaki not to. That his luck could not overcome them. He knows they can’t win in this situation and I do think he was actually trying to talk Chiaki out of it. But of course, when Chiaki pushes back and says she wants to go anyways, he literally can’t help himself when it comes to wanting to see Hope shine. So he agrees and praises her again because of course he does.
Until it all leads to the Pain Train with Despair coming out on top. Chiaki is brutally slaughtered and we see something new from Nagito. He breaks down crying. Tears are streaming madly down his face as a forced and twisted smile appears on his lips. He even beseeches Chiaki’s name. “You understand right? You know you’re a stepping stone for Hope!” “What has been done to Nanami is unforgivable...” Nagito’s already trying to cope. To rationalize something horrible that he just witnessed in his mind. He’s trying to protect himself as he’s utterly being destroyed and breaking down like all of his classmates. Chiaki’s death literally shatters his mind. It’s a pretty well done scene even if I’m not a big fan of the brainwashing stuff. Not to mention, the way he says “You understand right, Nanami?” As if he’s begging for her forgiveness as he falls apart. It’s so very very tragic. And of course, when being made apart of the Neo World Program, his desire to see Chiaki once more, just one more time like his classmates, brings her back to him(and the other classmates) in AI form.
Honestly... it’s pretty beautiful. Chiaki is apart of Nagito in some way and is imprinted into his mind and heart. He longed to see her as much as everyone else. This person, who doesn’t seek out relationships because his luck either gets them killed or he finds their Hope to be too weak, has a connection with Chiaki like that. This is literally a person who believes his life is just a stepping stone for better and more worthy people, someone who knows their existence is a formality at this point. And still, he does have connections. There are people capable of caring about him and loving him and Chiaki was one of those people. And he wanted to see her again in the Neo World Program. Like Chiaki said, it’s no less than miracle.
But alas, this is getting rather long, isn’t it? Well in the D3 anthology, Nagito also is concerned when Chiaki avoids eating because of her hyperfixation on gaming. Chiaki skipping out on self care?! Not cool, Chiaki. And so he challenges her to a game to make sure she’ll eat lunch. Fucking protective as hell. And yes yes, the anthology isn’t canon... but that’s the thing about Danganronpa. The series is over. Any additional info and stuff added to it is meant to enrich the experience for the fandom, so it’s canon to me. What’s the fandom gonna do? Whine at me and tell me it isn’t? That Nagito wouldn’t do these things when official anthologies and content that’s sold for Danganronpa tells me he would? So... yeah.
Ultimately, whether you ship them or not, I think this fandom is missing out on the Komanami side of things and how good their relationship is when you really observe it. :3
#danganronpa#chiaki nanami#nagito komaeda#komanami#komahinanami#hajime hinata#me: I want to give the Komanami and KomaHinaNami and Nagito is Pan/Bi crew everything they want!!#I hope my rambles suffice!#and I’m sorry you had those fandom experiences#I rp and I love playing a bi and pan Nagito so hit me up sometime

C2E59 - Perspective
Sorry for delay, I gave The Unsleeping City a go and had to finish it. I personally prefer CR over D20, because I love the CR cast all RPing with each other, whereas in D20 it’s so heavily story focused, and RP seems to just be between PC and NPC, not PC and PC, but I’m going to give Fantasy High another shot, and then did get Dropout for some of the other campaigns. All in all, I did enjoy it, and if you are someone who really wants more good story than lots of RP, I’d recommend D20. (also a lot more comedy, just by the nature of the stories created and the settings leaning more into the absurd than the classic)
BUT BACK INTO CR, PLSKTHX
(and of course today’s a Thursday, so unless I finish this episode tonight, which is unlikely, I won’t finish it until after I watch the new one.)
….FUCK matt looks hot
nooooooooooo top camera is lower quality :(
(it is now several days after starting! XD My focus is SHOT right now, I keep jumping from one thing to another to another. PLUS I’m really wanting to start my Leverage rewatch, and then there’s this, and then there’s giving Fantasy High another go [on the third episode now] and then just all the cooking videos that I watch, not including actually reading and doing shit……...my brain needs to calm down!)
Let’s see how far I can get today before my brain nopes out.
YASHA CHARGING FORWARDS!!!! (not at ALL influenced by Travis getting super hype in the corner, no sir)
Oh hey! Is this the first Dwarven Forge sponsor for combat section?
“this will be a trick I learned from Brennan” re: the blue tack. I had NO CLUE who Brennan was the first time I heard this, so this is super cool! Escape from the Bloodkeep looks like it aired on Dropout around Feb 2019, and this episode is from April 2019, so only a relative few months between (even including that I don’t know when the D20 stuff was actually filmed, because I think? that they have the entire season filmed before posting?)
Travis is SO EXCITED that the Charm Monster worked. And for good reason! This definitely was a big turning point of the encounter! Actually, I wonder how the entire section of these few episodes would have gone had the Nein just killed the giants. Never find out about their home, never find out about the rift machine, never get the scrap of fabric for scrying……. Unless Matt was going to have the giants start talking during the combat regardless to try to stop it from being one-sided, this is a case where a whole chunk of the campaign could have turned out very differently.
Yasha succeeded on a wisdom saving throw???? what is this out of character nonsense??!!! oh wait, it was for Hold Person. Alright, proceed.
Yeah, Cat’s Ire! I want to see the cat claw mini next to the Bigby’s Hand mini from C1. For whatever reason, it always feels to me like the cat claw is smaller, despite knowing that it’s big enough for Caleb to ride it in the cathedral fight. I’m assuming this is just due to the perspective with the minis.
I actually got a decent chunk into the fight before I noped out from focus issues, but just didn’t have much to say because, yanno, combat.
A week later, let’s keep going!
POLYMORPH LET’S GOOOOOO!!! Yes, I will likely be this excited every time someone casts Polymorph. It was THE spell of this campaign, had incredible use both in and out of combat, and ranged for serious to humorous as needed. (Runner up iconic spells for C2? Sending, Bless/Bane, and Spiritual Weapon are the three that come to mind)
A wild Foster appears! Foster uses Refill Drinks! It’s super effective!
Travis, while he gets all the credit he deserves for being an amazing RPer, does NOT get enough credit for his physical portrayals. He mostly sits outside of his PC while at the table, but when he DOES do it, it’s fucking fantastic. The ‘UH UH UH, DOWN’ head waggle and heavily downturned mouth?? Completely in character, and completely hysterical. I love Fjord so much
Okay, the giant telling Caduceus that they were attacked by creatures with wings and long faces? Ominous and also exciting. Hearing it again now knowing what the creatures look like?? Absurd and humorous. It’s SUCH an ugly mini, omg, it’s forever tainted my reaction to it. And to be fair, it’s a strong creature with some terrifying abilities! But it’s so GOOFY LOOKING.
“watched his life wither” it’s so cool to see how much Matt actually tells the group ahead of time, but because they don’t have the knowledge of what’s to come, even though he shares it all, it’s in such a way that they can’t predict. He did the same with the information with the Beacon, and I’m sure much more that I’ve forgotten.
WAIT WHAT what is this shit with Soorna’s brother being killed by the creatures and then being undead? and possessed or shit I DON’T REMEMBER THIS AT ALL
I really appreciate how in C2, pretty much every PC aside from Yasha all had multiple instances of them taking the lead and handling big conversations. If it’s more serious/analytical, usually Beau or Caleb take the lead. More demanding or bluster or submission? Fjord (with a wonderful show of flipping between his dynamics). Humorous or unexpectedly influential? Jester and Nott. And while part of it is just Ashley not having the opportunity to, it also makes sense that Yasha mostly sat back and let the others do the talking. There’s no one set leader, no one style of voice, no one player who made sure to play the face. After I’d finished watching and watching C1 (so therefore having the opportunity to forget a whole lot of C2), my remembrance was of Caleb, Beau, and Jester being the big talkers. This rewatch is really letting me appreciate Fjord, Nott, and Caduceus’ contributions even more. They don’t have just ‘one off’ moments, nor do they just have their ‘big’ moments. All are a steady contribution throughout the campaign. (and, no hate here, but honestly? I’m glad we didn’t have Molly throughout, because I really am unable to imagine his conversations and how he may handle things – especially considering Tal wanted to play him as fairly static in terms of character growth, so imagining early!Molly with his harshness and abrasiveness, unsoftened in the way Beau and Caleb are, is just jarring in my mind)
Oh, investigation checks. I kinda feel bad that Beau got a 25 but basically just found junk, where Fjord got a 26 and got the humiliation material. I know that technically they were searching different areas, but it’s just one of those things that feels a little bad. I’d have thought that maybe it required the nat20, but Matt specifically asked “for a total of?”, implying that it did have a specific DC.
Jester pestering Caleb while he’s casting Comprehend Languages definitely gives me twinnie vibes, but also in a completely different way. Full props to Laura and Liam – the three dynamics that they’ve presented in each of the campaigns is so different but feels so true. I’m still early on in C3 (episode 30 airs tonight…..episode 29 is the one that I mentioned earlier XD) that they haven’t fully established how they will work in this one, but I’m SO looking forwards to it, SO SO SO MUCH. Or even finding out if in C3 they end up having a very MINIMAL dynamic – like how Caleb and Caduceus, despite having a few good conversations, had much more of a minimal dynamic than the other C2 friendships. It’s early enough in C3 that I don’t know! And what’s already been established can change!
Re: moorbounders “if they get killed, I’m going to kill you” “no you won’t, you love me” can I just mention how much I love Laura and Travis’s relationship with how they portray it when they’re streaming? It’s so fucking adorable
I am pretty sure that I haven’t forgotten a moment, so I am gonna say FIRST INSTANCE OF YASHA EATING BUGS (yes spiders count as bugs shut up). You can tell that she had this in her mind early on, Matt was describing the flesh and she was sitting there smiling and nodding while the other players/PCs were getting grossed out expressions. She had the rat to eat before, but this is a step further. (side note, yes I’m aware that insects are eaten in non-US cultures. But I admit that it’s a hellova NOPE for me, especially with my phobia of bugs crawling inside my body). I wonder how much of this was improv-ed in the moment and how much of it was something she’d already determined for Yasha’s backstory.
IT’S BEEN A WHILE!!!!!!!!!!! First appearance!!!!! I’m shocked that so many of them jumped on it instantly. It made me think that it must have happened earlier, but I can’t find any earlier instance of it.
Sam making good use of travel time to have a conversation with Caleb about Nott’s feelings, and it’s so good. It might not get touched on in depth at this point, but it brings up basically all of her worries. Is she a bad person for immediately going out on an adventure again? For WANTING to go out on the adventure again? Will Yeza like who she is now? He’s accepted her skin for the moment, but what about her mind? Does SHE want to go back to being who she was? So quickly laying out everything there, for an emotional journey that will take the rest of the campaign for her to go through. And Caleb! Being so supportive of her and her choices, but also fully reassuring her that Yeza will support her, disagreeing when she thinks it’s just for now. Also – let’s give fucking full credit to Liam Oberon in this moment. They’ve already had the Nott/Veth conversation when Nott first shared her story. But then they also all understood the switch to Veth while Yeza was around. And now, Caleb takes a moment to clarify even further ‘what would you like me to call you when we are not with Yeza’ and it’s BEAUTIFUL. This is just a small aspect of it, but it’s a moment where a viewer can really take this and use it in their own lives for people that they may know, to ensure the comfort of those who struggle with their identity or how they present it.
HENRY CAMEO!
Okay first of all, Laura doing sad!Jester destroys me every single fucking time omg. Secondly, I’m actually not quite sure where she was leaving the possibility of the RP going. I’m a bit disappointed that Travis didn’t engage with it. While the moment ended up being silly kinda flirty kinda teasy, it feels like there was something big under the surface that got missed. And because of my shitty memory, I can’t remember if it comes up again later or not! (to be fair, Laura could have just been RPing Jester as low from being poisoned the night before, but let me read into things)
I appreciate Travis noping out as Matt is describing all the spiders that they’re seeing. At this EXACT MOMENT, there is a decent sized spider RIGHT ABOVE my bed where the wall meets the ceiling. It’s too high up for me to kill it, even if I stand on the bed. As long as it STAYS there, or moves somewhere else, I’m...well, not fine, but ignoring it. (I had to sleep with it there last night T.T) but if it comes down the wall? It diiies.
...I just realized that everyone is individually mic-ed. When did this happen???? I thought they had mics above them? They’ve certainly hit them enough times. Maybe because Ashley is back so they’re not seated properly under them? Or maybe they’ve had the individual mics for a while and I’ve just completely failed to notice? *starts checking things* oh, they didn’t have them before break. I’m guessing it’s for the kickstarter celebration after the show then, and they just decided to get it done during the break to reduce the amount of time they needed to get set up.
I still have mixed feelings with Frumpkin exploring everything ahead of time. It’s great that the map gets cleared and the party has a vague idea of what they’re heading in to, but it takes the agency away from other players to discover it on their own. I don’t remember how much Vax did this as well, I think it was frequently? Or at least at the beginning. Just glad that Orym doesn’t do it. Yet. It’s different when it’s different players doing it each time, but when it’s the same player each time, in multiple campaigns? I’d hope that Liam checked in with the other players to make sure that they were cool with it. It’s hard to argue with, because tactically it makes absolute sense to send Frumpkin, but that doesn’t always translate to fun.
Oh good, this was only a quick little exploration. And once again the ‘does Frumpkin have darkvision’ question. Matt should have just given Caleb a magic collar or something that let him have darkvision as a cat only. Dumbest 5e ruling.
Beau boosted with Holy Weapon is SO fucking badass, I wish it happened more often. I actually only remember it one other time….CR stats has it a total of 8 times. Episodes 59, 60, 69, 82, 95,105, 133, 139.
I….forgot about all these con saves. Fuck we is in trouble
I hear a lot online about how Matt pulls his punches once Molly died. Except Fjord nearly straight up died during this combat from having his hit point max reduced to 0 (thanks Cad for canceling the crit!), being targeted as an unconscious creature while an aggressive target was in range but ignored. I disagree with this statement fully, for what it’s worth. I also don’t get the argument of people who are desperate to see the party fall and PCs constantly die. I get that it happened a lot in C1, but you know what also happened in C1? The players got tired of it. They talk about it in one of the Talks (have no clue which one, whether it was at the end of C1 or during C2) but they were resurrectioned out because of how emotionally taxing it was, especially to keep having it happen. So much of the ‘waaaah’ online is that the people thing Matt is being too gentle. IF he is (which I don’t agree with), then it’s likely something he decided after talking with the players. Considering they shared their feelings online through Talks, it’s VERY likely that they would have talked with Matt and explained how they felt and what they would like going forwards. And there is nothing wrong with having a more or less deadly game! But this is where there’s a lot of preference that it taken from the point of the viewer basically ignoring what is likely preference on the parts of the players.
I forgot that the NPC got the kill!! I guess ‘cause it wasn’t as hyped up for the “How Do I Want To Do This” moment with Obann – Matt even still says the normal HDYWTDT.
LOL Liam is never going to let anyone forget what happened with Kynan. STILL SALTY.
I don’t think I’m going to watch their kickstarter wrapup. I watched it the first time, and I’d rather go to the Talks, or jump back into Fantasy High (still not vibing with this one as much as I did for The Unsleeping City, but they do two of it so I feel like I have to)

In regards to post/689689779025084416 not 100% sure of the context on this so sorry for butting in if I'm mistaken but I really don't love this mentality. It's very unfriendly toward people with adhd and even autism. Not everyone is the same of course but hyper fixation is something a lot of neurodivergents have and we can't control it. Sometimes it lasts for months, year's, weeks, etc but everyone is different and tbh if within the right environment ( a friendly, interactive rpc ) and with a good amount of free time, you wouldn't believe the amount of stuff I could do and what I could build within a week if I'm fixated on something, even for a short time. From personal experience I can say my fixations are shorter lived now than when I was younger but I also think that has a lot to do with the current rpc climate which is simply not as friendly or interactive as it used to be. I think you will probably find a lot of people who “blog hop” and make new muses / abandon muses constantly are people with some type of neurodivergence and are failing to get the right amount of simulation / dopamine from those particular rpcs/fandoms and/or are being forced to dodge toxic behaviours from other community members.
Again for me personally when I fixate those fixations don’t really leave me, I’ve been fixating on certain things since I was a child, but my drive and inspiration to write for those particular things / characters can be short lived at times. (I never totally abandon a character, but I do have sporadic bouts of activity followed by sometimes lengthy periods of inactivity that oscillate wildly sometimes. I also frequently remake my blog(s) for said characters if / when the mood to “refresh” their aesthetic / generally reignite the vibes strikes. And as a side note I’m trying really hard to NOT do this because of this “i hate ppl who remake/blog hop/abandon muses thing” thing I’ve been encountering more and more frequently.
As I said its different for everyone but speaking from experience one of the biggest things that has rendered me a “flaky” rper in recent years is the toxicity and disinterest of everyone else in the rpc. Sometimes you hit a sweet spot and manage to get a blog up in just the right circumstances (the ppl are friendly, open, welcoming and genuinely want to interact with each other / new people) but I’m finding this to be a few and far between thing nowadays and I’m really sad to report that often when I find these little moments where I can start up a blog for a character / fandom I’m fixated on and get appropriate engagement to keep my brain simulated, toxicity, hate and unwarranted competition (particularly from duplicates) takes over and ruins the experience hard and fast.
And I think you’ll find examples of toxicity or otherwise general lack of interest / engagement from particular RPCs is what creates “blog hoppers” and flakey writers. I think its rarely because they randomly took on a character they didn't want to write/didn't really like.
With that slightly aside: "STOP SHITTING ON PEOPLE WHO GET ANNOYED WHEN SOMEONE DROPS MUSES EVERY WEEK." I don't really understand what is so bad about people who drop muses or hop blogs a lot anyway. Imo, this acts like rping is some serious job contract and those of us who aren't able to provide consistent content for any reason are defunct and evil.
Imo, this is weird behaviour and falls into the toxicity of taking roleplaying way too seriously and trying to view other writers as content machines for your own personal gratification and not as actual humans who don't even need to have “good reasons” for why they abandoned a blog within a week or whatever the case may be. If you can say “boo you cant develop or establish anything within a week etc” why are you so mad? Because the same is true for you / your muse / your “potential” and failed connection with the flakey mun you’re complaining about. You never would have gotten ANYWHERE with them so what is there to be mad about? You lost nothing. You’re just shitting on someone because you couldn’t get something you wanted out of them which it seems you had very little incentive to want/expect in the first place? Like is that not the bottom line? I mean yes it sucks to see a real cool blog and want to establish something with them but by your own admission the blog couldn’t have done / been doing that much in the first place so what's with the rage ? I don’t know this just doesn't connect for me.
The demonization I’ve seen some people lay on blog hoppers or people with shifting/fickle muse inspo has been pretty jarring lately and I find it a little concerning and off putting. Again, sorry for butting in or if I’ve taken this a bit out of context but I’ve spoke about this on my blogs before I even saw this. I just think this mentality lends itself to encouraging weird entitled behaviour at best and ableism at worst and so this is probably just something worth considering...
In response to this submission.

Honestly the biggest problem BY had to overcome wasn't Ashleys absence, it was Ashleys presence. She's just not a very good RPer. It never feels like she's making choices 'as her character', it always feels like she's just doing the first/only thing she can think of, and she often has to be pushed to do even that. She's said in the past that she panics and her brain goes blank, and once you notice that's what's happening you can't stop noticing it. It never feels like her character speaking, it feels like Ashley. "I smell like a crayon" "do you have any Chinese throwing stars" "time is a weird soup" "there is a curse in my family, it's called diabetes" "I ruin people" "I'm learning how to people" "I just think that cleanliness and hygiene is very important" "Jazz is chaos". If you didn't know any better could you really accurately guess which of these lines was Pike/Yasha/Fearne? Probably not. She just says whatever comes to mind first, and it makes her a really unreliable scene partner. She does have some good moments with Yasha, namely "I have so many flowers to bring her" and "finish it champion", because those things actually feel like YASHA, not Ashley. But that's two lines in 141 episodes, so it's no surprise fanon has completely overwritten canon - there wasn't much to overwrite.
I agree. And thinking back, I realize it’s very true.
For me, Ashley was the only instance where I could never see past her to her character, if you get what I mean?
Like, even when OOC goofing around would happen, once they’d go back to being serious, I could still watch the players and SEE the character in my mind’s eye. I could be looking at Marisha but see Beau, looking at Travis but see Fjord, looking at Laura but see Jester, and so on.
But I always had a hard time achieving that with Ashley and it’s exactly because of the reasons you described.
The others were able to lose themselves completely inside their characters and it would translate to the viewers, but with Yasha, it never translated because Ashley was always essentially just playing as herself. (And not even a version of herself, just herself lol)

I'm so tired of roleplaying with people who don't put half the commitment I do into our threads and muses. I'm so tired of feeling like I'm a weirdo or like I don't belong for that. Any other hobby and people wouldn't care if I took it seriously. Why is roleplaying different? How can I keep going like this if I'm getting rudeness from all sides? I can't even go outside my already tiny bubble and find more partners, because I always see people putting roleplayers like me down and it's exhausting.
"Why is roleplaying different?"
Well, Anon, I know that was a rhetorical question, but I have some thoughts on that. To the surprise of no one!
I strongly believe that this is an issue with how fandom has come to dominate roleplaying. As I've said before, it really wasn't always like that. Of course, you always had canon characters and almost all RPers were invested in a fandom or two. The difference was that online RP was once viewed much more like tabletop RPGs are.
When the RPC became a near-total offshoot of Fandom, a lot of shit changed and very rapidly...and within Fandom, a lot of shit was changing very rapidly as well at that time.
RP has always been something looked down on (though, at least no one ever accused written RP online of being literally demonic like they did DnD, or made correlations to murder sprees like they did LARPing, so there's that) as strange, not the good, understandable sort of dorky.
Part of that is almost certainly because of the difference in the way society views writing vs the way it views hobbies like gaming - writing is seen as an intellectual pursuit and a job, gaming, even at its most negative points of view in wider society, has been seen traditionally as a downtime activity only.
But. RP was not looked down upon from within Fandom or in roleplay communities themselves like it is now.
When the whole experience of fandoms themselves became extremely mainstream and open, it welcomed in a ton of shit ideas and behaviors that were not previously prevalent. It changed RP, too, along many of those same lines.
When your hobby is considered objectionably weird by people within the fandoms you love and RP in and that makes you a sort of lowest-tier fan, the viewpoint of RP to RPers becomes something lesser than a valid hobby. When RPers are the same people who engage with Fandom monetarily, anything not monetized is passively consumable content, including RP. And RPers are trying to both deflect shame and struggling with wider society's mixed messages, that now hit them everywhere online as well. Shit like, "you don't have to monetize your hobby, it's okay to just make really good cross stitches of memes for yourself" and "if you're not paying me, you have no control over me."
We seriously do not view RP as a proper hobby anymore, that's why. There are many factors to that, those are just few, but that's the ultimate answer. It's not seen that way because it's not valued in the same way.
I think much of the problem with muns losing their entire shit over anyone else approaching the hobby differently, dare I say...more seriously, is related to a lot of complex psychology about self-esteem, control, and anxiety. So many people here struggle with serious self-worth and confidence issues, and I think to many of them, whether they realize it or not, when they see serious RPers, they feel like that's an inherent judgment and a danger to their own enjoyment. Because RP, as writing, is a skilled hobby - the more you practice it, the more skilled you become with it. Meaning that someone who approaches the writing seriously is going to be at a higher skill level.
Enter the way we're training to think about writing again - when they see someone who is very practiced, skilled, and confident with their writing, the learned idea is that they're somehow superior in a nasty, personal way.
I most certainly do not think that makes it alright, it isn't, and I'm not very tolerant of it.
It's absolutely alright to engage with RP in any way you see fit. If that's extremely casual, it's a minor hobby for you, that's great! I'm so happy you're enjoying yourself, and I mean that in no facetious way. But not when that is the only form of it respected and accepted. It's just as alright to have RP as your primary, serious hobby!
The only way we can all enjoy a hobby with such great variance within it is by respecting each other's variables, not by vilifying them. It's recognizing that, no matter how much you enjoy the mun and/or muse, they're not engaging with the hobby in the way you are, it's not a good fit to write together. (Please, begging y'all to be friends with those who are different, not enemies, shit's sake. You've not got to write together to be friends!) Instead of labeling them and being hateful. Different =/= a threat.
And, to go off a bit lol y'all demonizing serious RPers really don't get that there are some intense tones of ableism and more going on in that narrative of yours, huh?
Not that anyone requires a reason to be serious about any hobby, but when people pick a hobby like RP as their primary one...you should probably have the maturity to consider why that is. Could it be that they focus on a hobby they can do from their homes and that requires low physical involvement, and has a degree of separation from direct socializing, for a reason?
Serious RPers tend to be limited in their ability to pursue other hobbies. Mental and physical health, region, finances, and ability to spend time outside of the home are all very common limits for those who "take RP too seriously/are addicted to RP."
Maybe take five seconds away from your own issues to consider that the person you're shitting on for something so minor as a difference of importance of a hobby might be the full-time caretaker of a special needs child, having to remain home and on a very small income. They might be chronically ill or suffer from agoraphobia. They might live in an area with no hobbies of interest, affordability, or at all...or they might live somewhere that is incredibly dangerous for them.
I honestly do not know where these people have been that they've been aggressed at by serious RPers, but that's usually the excuse. (I'm not saying it has never happened or does not happen, before anyone goes there.) The idea that serious RPers are extreme elitists who are demanding that other muns do what they do, how they do it. That they expect other muns to be online and RPing all the time, that they be "available for entertainment at all times" at the cost of real-life matters. Having the expectation that threads not be dropped constantly or that a writing partner not leave for months with no contact is neither of those things.
In over two decades of RPing across almost every platform type that has existed, I have literally never seen that be either a singular RPer-type problem or one that serious RPers are even more likely to deal in. I've seen the opposite, actually. Which is not a condemnation or a statement that all casual RPers do this, just what my experience has been. And one that actually stands to reason based on the way they view and engage with RP - quick replies, quick entertainment, and very low commitment to threads, muses, or other muns. Of course, it's annoying to them when a more serious RPer is unwilling to do rapid-fire style quick, short threads from an ask with them, but is writing the lengthy replies they already owed instead.
That's probably a factor as well, in here among a plethora of misunderstanding/unawareness of differences - for many serious RPers, it's not easier and more fun to write short, quick threads. So, what a casual RPer is seeing is that they're willing to put all this extraordinary effort into a massive reply to someone else while their easy, fun, quickly done thread is waiting in line.
Misunderstandings and unawareness breed hostility, period. And there is a hell of a lot of those things in the RPC.
What serious RPers are expressing are either boundaries/expectations or frustration. Not a demand that you be around all the time, but an expectation that you leave them alone if you're not also a serious RPer who will be committed to threads and muses. Not hostility and elitism, the frustration that it's already difficult to find muns who will work out before you add in the majority rule of casual RPers.
It's incredibly disheartening, frustrating, and honestly, a bit anxiety-inducing to constantly be the weird one, always have few choices, and to be at risk of being Problematic purely because you take the hobby seriously. You can't vent without someone jumping on your ass to remind you (even if you said numerous times that "real life comes first" and "people can do what they want") that omg, people have lives, people can do what makes them happy, it's just RP.
It's so upsetting when you think you might have found a good writing partner, then, you see a PSA they've reblogged about how it's a "hobby, not a jobby," and "no one owes anyone anything, ever." Excuse me, as that last one is a direct quote, let me redo it so it is verbatim: "no one owes anyone here anything - EVER !!!"
I said I wasn't very tolerant :)
But seriously, exactly what you've expressed is why I'm not...it's another form of controlling others instead of trying your best to control your own experience, and it's often extremely hateful. I'm not tolerant of anything like that, it's no longer supporting preferences at that point. When your preference is the only one that will be tolerated in the community, it's not a preference anymore.
It's something that makes others feel isolated, afraid of harassment, and depressed. It is a hobby and it isn't supposed to make you feel like that!
And, no, absolutely the fuck not lol the "answer" to this isn't that you're taking it too seriously and need to take a break. I'm so tired of seeing that shit tacked onto RPH responses and vents and PSAs. You're not saying that RP is making you feel this way, "just take a break and come back when you agree with everyone else" isn't a solution.
Of course, if you do feel like your time here has become so upsetting? Yeah, obviously, you should try to find some other things to supplement your downtime that make you feel happier again. Engage in some other forms of writing just meant for yourself, or that can be published as fics. Spend some more time on a game you enjoy for a while, or get invested in a new one. Learn to shape bonsai or make no-knead rolls. Whatever would make you happy as a hobby when you're not here.
Other than that, however, well...we're not going to be implying on this blog that you're too serious and need to take a hiatus until you have no emotional investment in your hobby. That's insane. I'd not say it about hiking, martial arts, dog obedience competitions, hobby farming, or painting either.
I wish I could think of some solutions as to where you could look that wasn't like this, but it's definitely the majority of the RPC. It doesn't help that, due to this, serious RPers have a tendency to quietly stick together and not venture out into the RPC. They're just not incredibly easy to find.
I will say that they tend to be:
novella - if you're not here for serious RP and sticking around for a while, you're not going to invest the time and energy into particularly lengthy writing
older RPers - I would say that twenty-five is probably the youngest, with early thirties to late forties being the majority
in fandoms with a large adult base of fans - even if it's a franchise friendly to, or even meant for, younger fans, if it has a particularly active adult fanbase, it's a better chance of finding serious RPers in it
as above, old fandoms - fandoms that have been around for a long time tend to have more serious RPers in them
fandomless OCs - tend to have a higher chance of being written by serious RPers than canons or heavily fandom-involved OCs
RPers who do not do a ton of advertising for their muse(s), but when they do, they don't advertise them based on activism points or trends
slightly more likely to not have an emphasis on highly aesthetic blogs, graphics, icons etc. - they use a modified basic tumblr theme, low on graphics, their aesthetics are not on-trend, for example
anti-content policing/"write what you want" style muns
muns with more extensive rules pages - they plan to be here for a while, they take writing, RP, and their muse(s) seriously, so, it's a bit more important to them to head off problems before they start
those with older characters/FCs - be that literally in age or the character being one that has existed for a long time
"stay in your lane" style muns - if they're opining on fandom or the RPC, they must really be angry about something
those with numerous and detailed headcanons - for example, their response to a HC meme ask like, "what's your muse's favorite ice cream flavor?" is going to be treated seriously, not simply answered with "mint chocolate chip because my bby is gross"
As usual, not a complete or perfect list. I don't fit some of the things on there! It could give you some things to look for when trying to find other serious RPers, though. It's based on observances from someone who was never a casual RPer, even as a minor (me, obviously), and maybe it could at least keep you from continuously running into hostility about your approach to RP.
I've honestly considered making a list of some sort expressly for RPers who are on the more serious end of the spectrum, but...in a RPC back when things were dominated by serious RPers, I did that sort of thing with a RPH I had, and it still got labeled as being a list for and by Elitists. I don't know that anyone would want to put themselves out there for potential harassment on tumblr, you know? It was a joke then, just having a group of RPers label you as an Elitist. Here, you get told to kill yourself, and none of us need more of that shit, right?
Try to hang in there, Anon, I know it's upsetting, and I'm so sorry that something fun has gotten to be like this.
Try to understand that these people are coming from a place of irrational defensiveness, often in response to bullying themselves at some point or feeling bad about themselves. That doesn't make it right, but it does make it easier to not take to heart.
And keep at it! In my experience here, once you find a group of people you fit into, it really is...A Group. Especially among RPers who are ostracized, they stick together, they promote each other, and they're very happy for their mutuals to become your mutuals. Once you find them, it unlocks so many opportunities for the interactions and type of RP you've been missing!

karl needs to find a good balance between dropping the lore hes prepared for his story and his character, and also allow the other people to improv. i think he might be stressed that not everything's gonna fit and be explored, or maybe he's scared that his streams will be so long. but i wouldnt mind if they were longer or split into two parts. or alternatively, and this is completely changing the format but let everybody stream not necessarily in vc with karl (or each other) all the time and let them take their own time
he could work more with enviromental storytelling, and let everyone take their time and explore and comment on what they see and interact with each other. im sure hes scared that its gonna get boring if the plot doesnt move along but thats where the roleplay can take place
he also could include more content creators who enjoy creating characters, ranboo is an absolute gem for example. but tubbo is a great example of someone who is good at creating memorable characters. quackity is as well but hes a little bit over the top and i think karl and him need to talk to make sure they agree on the Tone for the episode in question. and corpse was pretty good last time as well id love to see him again
tftsmp has got a lot of good things going for it and his stream was better than the last so i think overtime it really can improve. thats my thoughts anyway
- cube-cumb3r
yeah i think you’ve hit the nail on the head here, tftsmp has such a huge potential and could be such a cool thing for the smp to have, and you can tell karl put’s in effort with things like the map they’re in and some of the smaller details. But his execution of the actual stream is where tftsmp falls apart.
I think he needs to pretty much completely drop the “book clues” that the last two tftsmp have had because karl wants them to find the books and the clever spots he’s hidden them. but then when they don’t seem to instantly start searching for clues (which often doesn’t make sense for the characters to be doing) he feels the need to go to the book.
I’m still not quite sure why he doesn’t let them goof off for a bit, I think your theories might be correct, but I'm pretty it might not be the time thing, because I'm pretty sure karl estimated the beach episode would take them 3 hours, and they were done with the story under and hour. i don’t think karl is too concerned about longer streams?
I also really do hope he brings in more serious rpers? like I was somewhat hyped for the line up of dream, bbh, ranboo, and quackity because they’ve all shown that they’re really good at rp when they try, but for some reason they all (- ranboo half the time) are taking it very much not-seriously despite the fact that they have an even better grasp of how much time karl has tried to make this cool serious lore story. Dream didn’t even have anything set up to make sure he was awake on time, he was asleep at the start time and delayed the stream by just under an hour.
I really do think tftsmp could improve if karl looking into how a dnd dm narrates and guides a story, and less how a author narrates and guides a story, because tftsmp is run more like a story book and not like an rp.

I’ve been asked what my general advice for a new rper would be and it got long for IMs so here’s a post instead hfkjshdf I would prefer this Wasn’t Reblogged because I’m sure it’s imperfect and I don’t want my activity notes to explode ;v; Hope it is helpful though.
For me, personally, I consider mutual respect to be the most important thing. Most rpers have their own preferences and standards, some are rly picky, some not picky at all, some are very organized with extensive tagging systems, some blogs are not. Usually these sorts of things are listed in someone's rules/guideline page. My own rule page has gone through several revisions, and that's okay, if you have a bad experience or run into something you haven't before, grow and learn, your comfort is important! You are not obligated to anyone! Take care of yourself and if someone doesn’t treat you how you would treat them, there is no reason for you to continue to interact with that person!
A few general rping basics that Most ppl acknowledge would be...
Godmodding: determining what another person's character does without consent. There's not rly a point to rping with someone else if person A is trying to personally direct what person B does, also it's just pretty rude hfskjhdfs but I've seen it, multiple times, not fun. Don’t do that. Respect other ppls muses and how they want to write them, not how you think they should write them for you.
In Character/Out of Character issues: Sometimes people take personal offense to what someone's character does to their character, which can lead to all kinds of problems. Even if someone is writing a 'comfort character,' they are still fictional characters, and expecting an asshole muse to not be an asshole is rly unreasonable. I've seen a lot of villain muse writers especially struggle with this, but I’ve even had this problem in writing ‘good hearted character with a difficult personality’ not catering to another character the way they apparently wanted them to, without even telling me. Also, sometimes people let the knowledge they have ooc, such as from reading a muse's about or answered asks or interactions with other characters, be known to their character. Sometimes it can be logical, but sometimes there are private things that shouldn't be common knowledge just because the mun has read it. Again, this can be mun dependent, some don't care at all about this, but some can get very agitated hkfjshdf it's a good idea to ask the mun regardless if it's questionable for your muse to know about something.
Communication: despite shyness and anxiety, if someone is worried about anything, even if it seems small, it's always a good idea to just Check with your partner. Asking or Discussing is much better than having a build up of issues down the road from not talking and assuming too much of someone else.
Blog Format: this can get messy real fast. As far as I know, there are four main types. (1) Personals who rp. Essentially, normal tumblr blogs who also dabble in rping. Not particularly popular among a lot of more serious rpers because many of us are here to avoid reality and just have fun with fictional characters, so we’re probably not going to follow-back a blog that posts a lot of pictures/politics/content unrelated to whoever they are writing. But some are fine with this, so again, that’s a personal preference thing. (2) Single-muse Blog. A whole blog made and dedicated to writing a muse, which was the most prevalent for a long time, and also what I used to do. These blogs can send ic asks and etc directly from your rp blog without any confusion. But you also have to log in and out of each one individually. Great for ppl who focus on One or just a few muses for long periods though. (3) Multi-muse Blog. A whole blog dedicated to however many muses a person wants to write. Can be a few or m a n y. If someone doesn’t have a good tagging set up, these can be very difficult to navigate. But it can also be one of the most laid back to run, just adding and removing muses through a page or tags. (4) Roleplay Hub. Hello, it’s me. A hub is a blog dedicated being a source for sideblogs dedicated to specific muses, so you don’t have to log into multiple locations but still have individual blogs per character. I’m pretty sure I helped start this trend to be honest hfskjdhf
There are also ask blogs dedicated to just answering asks, oftentimes with art, but I don’t see those very often anymore, and I haven’t really seen those types of blogs actually making rp threads, doing heavy plotting, etc BUT I COULD BE WRONG don’t hold me to that;;;;
AND ADDITIONALLY I went diving and found this which seems like an in depth list of things to keep in mind / if you want additional info/advice

13, 16, and 25 for the author ask :D
3) what order do you write in? front of book to back? chronological? favorite scenes first? something else?
Whatever way it happens! If I wrote everything chronologically, you’d never get anything from me, especially not any shippy nonsense.
If I’m writing a multi-chapter fic, I’ll often have detailed outlines and notes, maybe a few scene drafts in a file; some get used, some don’t, but it more or less gets written in order, with the drafts and notes there to hold onto ideas I have so they aren’t lost.
16) are there any characters who haunt you?
Seems I answered this one last time this prompt came around and the answer hasn’t really changed:
Hilel, an Assamite I played in a LARP many years back. Did some writing for her, and had to guide story as a staff narrator, during game and between sessions. Old school World of Darkness…tried, but had some serious representational issues, and my own youth and ignorance at the time didn’t help; this was late 90s and early 00s. I wish I could take that one back; I can’t even say it was a good learning experience like my initial LARP character Lynell Marsden, who I played and wrote about for a few years as a newbie RPer to where now my usual internet handle is based on her name. So she continues to “haunt” me too in a way, by choice.
Rhiswyn, my shadow priest in WoW, as I do think I mucked up some characterization bits that are well outside my usual wheelhouse or personality and life experiences. I don’t think I did Rhis justice, though I still like quite a few of the stories I wrote for her, by myself and in collaboration with others. There’s one series of hers that’s on the short list of fics I would like to revise and post to Ao3 someday.
So mostly characters where I screwed up writing/roleplaying about something I’m not, and learned better for the future in terms of How to Research and also What Stories Should I Tell and Which Should I Leave Alone, though it took me some time in Hilel’s case to realize how bad I was back then.
25) copy/paste a few sentences or a short paragraph that you’re particularly proud of
From the 2019 FFXIV Write, an extra credit entry near the end, “Trust II” is a very rare Second Person Present Tense PoV writing, about Lyna’s reactions to the arrival of the Warrior of Darkness. I’m still rather fond of this one in its entirety.
“Lyna…”
“Yes?” Pause, look back at him. Wonder again when he had become so small, when he once seemed to tower as tall as the crystal spire itself.
“Do you trust me?”
What an odd question. “Of course.” He is not speaking as Lord to Captain. “I know there is much you do not–cannot tell me. I know there must be reasons.” Ask the question you want the answer to. The moment may not come again. “Do you trust me?”
Caught him off guard. That happens more often than it used to. He smiles, though, and pulls back his hood–not the Exarch, but Grandfather, with his ruby eyes and white-streaked hair. “With my life, and the lives of our people,” he replies. “Which is why I ask you to keep these secrets for me a little longer–and know that the ones I keep from you are for good reason, my dear.”
Take a breath. Nod. “Very well then.” Turn to go, but pause again. “…One more question, my lord.”
“Of course, Captain.” He replaces his hood.
“Will any more of your countrymen be arriving in the next year or so?”
He laughs, shakes his head. “No, Captain, I believe this is the last we shall see–and all we need.”
The knowledge that Norvrandt may not have another year hangs heavy between you, unsaid.

How do you feel about the instagram accounts in general? I know some fans who really like them and others who not only dislike them but feel like they ruined some of the characters for them (i hear this mostly for the 3V). I'm kinda split, I like the outfits mostly and the interactions are kind of funny, but at the same time they're pretty trivial and meaningless.
So there are a lot of restrictions constraining what the creators can do with the Instagram accounts.
I've got a lot of experience in online roleplay on tumblr. Here's the thing about roleplay. No matter what character you're playing, you've GOT to play fast and loose with their characterization compared to how they act in canon, simply by virtue of the medium. For every character, they're gonna have things that they would never talk about on a blog online, right?
Very few characters would, say, liveblog on Instagram about helping their drunk boyfriend while he's puking. Most people would, you know, not tell the whole internet that their drunk boyfriend make himself sick, unless the person in question is either deeply narcissistic or trying to get revenge against that boyfriend for something. They would put their boyfriend to bed and not take pictures while he's drunk and not report the incident to thousands of people.
But Stolas did that with Blitzo. And we, the audience, aren't supposed to think that he's being narcissistic or vengeful as he does it. We, the audience, are supposed to go aww, look how caring and supportive he is. Because those posts weren't made to demonstrate that Stolas is callous enough to tell his thousands of followers when Blitzo's black out drunk—those posts were made because the creators are telling a story, and if those posts WEREN'T made, we wouldn't know that story happened.
By necessity, when social media is used as the exclusive venue for telling a story, either you can only tell stories about the kinds of people who would post ever detail of their lives online, or you have to start fudging what a character would realistically post in order to ensure that the audience gets to see it. In my experience in roleplaying? Inevitably, you start fudging. There are things you want the audience/the other players to see, it may not be realistic to show it, but if you want it out there, that's the only way to make it happen. So that's what you do. And now the character is slightly OOC, because they've gotta be in order to move this plotline forward.
That's even more true with something as haphazard and unplanned as most social media RP—and despite the official art and all that, I really do feel like the insta accounts most closely resemble the creators roleplaying as these characters, with the lack of planning and somewhat loose characterization/plot lines that comes with that.
And also something that comes with RP? The players are more likely to goof around with their characters. Even when they have very rigid, fleshed-out headcanons and portrayals, it's being done for play. It's a game before anything else. And so, outside of deep serious threads or epic plot lines, characters are usually, like... 60%-80% in character. If given a choice between "100% strictly unflinchingly IC" and "mostly IC but a little bit off but also it's gonna be very funny," most RPers will choose "mostly IC but funny" because it's funny. This is for fun.
Things particularly get really weird really fast if the RPer has picked a character in an ongoing canon show and they're trying to keep them inside that continuity—like, a show where season 2 has ended and season 3 comes out in five months and the player wants to keep the character acting in ways that will keep them canon compatible when season 3 comes out. In situations like that, if the players don't decide to branch off onto some wild AU, they're basically forced to stick to doing plots and stories that DON'T result in character development that will contradict canon—nobody can overcome their flaws, nobody can discover deep secrets, nobody can befriend their enemies or break up with toxic friends, because then they're no longer canon when season 3 starts. So in order to remain emotionally static in anticipation of future canon developments, lots of those RPers just... have weird episodic shenanigans.
And all that, taken together, is I feel like exactly what the Instagram accounts are doing.
They can't have character development because they're filling in the long gaps between the pilot episodes and the first seasons of two series. They aren't rigorously pre-plotted narratives, they're playing around between a few people. They are going to choose entertainment value and the opportunity to show the audience what they want the audience to see over strict adherence to characterization. They're roleplay accounts.
So that's how I've been taking them.
So, as far as I'm concerned, facts that come out of the accounts are useable worldbuilding. Imps consider chocolate a condiment for fish, okay. Vox owns every social media site in Hell, okay. Alastor doesn't show up well in pictures, okay. Husk sometimes pet sits Fat Nuggets, okay.
But the characterization? The things they do, the ways they interact, the things they're willing to post online, the dialogue? All that is semi-canon. It's the same "only 60% in character because this is all for a laugh" of RP accounts.
So I'm taking all of that with a grain of salt and holding it at arm's length until we get more comics/episodes to really show us more about these characters.
