hello!! this is a super random question and you don’t have to answer but how do you keep such a good track of the daredevil show timeline?? all of your fics are so coherent and seem to follow it amazingly well so i’m just wondering if you have any tips for that like it’s so noticeable how well you know the show when i reread trt and i really admire that :p

THIS MAKES ME SO HAPPY TO READ CAUSE THE DD TIMELINE IS INSANE, SO THANK YOU. I've spent more than one night tearing my hair out over it and that appears to have paid off! 😂

So I have two things I did in order to really track the Daredevil timeline.

1. In order to reference larger Marvel events along with other Defenders events, I use this timeline by gamesradar which has both the movies and the Defenders shows on a year by year timeline. This gave me a rough idea of gaps between seasons along with when other characters might pop up.

But more importantly,

2. I created my own Daredevil timeline that goes episode by episode. I did this by going through a series rewatch focused specifically on the timeline itself. Every time day shifted into night, I noted it. Matt waking up? That's a new day. Indicator via dialogue that it's been 2 days? Add that gap. Season reference like Ben mentioning in late S1 that it's getting colder (thus a sign that S1 takes place from at least early summer to fall)? That's written down. With this I could roughly track not only how much time passes in each episode, but I also was able to have a general idea of how long the individual seasons last. Doing this allowed me to weave my own plotline in and out of canon and construct a concurrent TRT events timeline in a way that feels like it fits! I even added some sections on Matt's injuries so I could track not just when he's hurt but his heal times. This is in addition to a quicknotes sort of guide I made for each episode so I could quickly double check my references without necessarily having to boot up Dis+. Obviously some canon gets changed in TRT but when I do change things, I make sure the goal of those canon scenes are still met, whether that's clues or foreshadowing.

Now granted, some parts of the canon timeline I quickly discovered are batshit. S2 is supposed to take place in the course of about 2 weeks, for example, which is WAY too fast for that big of a trial, and Matt's healing period in S3 is hilariously short. Those are moments I chose to take a crowbar to and stretch out a bit (in TRT, jury selection for Frank's trial, for example, no longer takes 2 days; now it takes a week, and the trial itself will be a bit longer than in canon), but because I had my timeline of events, I knew there was a long gap after Elektra's death (summer, roughly) and the little bit at the end of S2 where he goes to meet Karen with his mask (I think it's early winter, if I remember my timeline correctly). So that's kinda how I know where I can fiddle with the timeline while still ensuring it all flows coherently and doesn't ram into anything!

It's something they all quietly live in fear of. That one night, someone won't make it back. That some day The Call will come through and they'll be left with one less name in their lives, one less voice to hear. It's a fear, but it's a given. What they do is dangerous, and every night there is always the risk that they won't make it back. Dick knows this. He's known it since he was nine.

That hadn't changed the sudden ice-cold rush of panic he'd gotten when Alfred had called him over a week ago.

He'd just been finishing up his own patrol when the call came through over his comms. The Bat had fallen, badly. Possibly permanently. Dick hadn't hesitated - hell, he hadn't even stopped to pack; he'd just thrown a long coat on over his costume, hopped on his motorcycle, and raced to Gotham with his speedometer pushing 200mph the whole way. By the time he'd arrived Bruce was already in the hospital and Alfred - bless Alfred - was in the waiting room with a cup of coffee and a worrying grave expression.

In the days that followed Dick refused to leave the hospital. It was only at Alfred's insistence - and with his help - that Dick even bothered changing into proper clothes rather than remain in his working gear. Bruce wasn't dead - yet - but he was hardly out of the woods and there was no power in this or any other universe that could pry Dick away from his father's side. Sure their relationship hadn't been the best over the past few years, but none of that mattered. Not now.

At this point the nurses seem to have realized the family is not going to leave, given they've stopped bothering to remind Dick and the others about visiting hours. Only discussion - okay, an argument - between himself and his brothers pulls Dick from Bruce's bedside, and that only occasionally; they've set up a patrol rotation, picking up the slack while Batman is incapacitated to ensure that neither Bruce nor Gotham is left untended.

Tonight it's Dick's turn at Bruce's side, Tim and Damian having charge of the city under Alfred's guidance - and with some quiet help from Jason, not that anyone will openly say so. Dick's pulled his chair right beside Bruce's bed, a book open on his lap as he reads quietly aloud. Maybe Bruce can hear him, maybe he can't, but either way it's something, isn't it? It's at least doing more than just sitting there worrying and praying Bruce wakes up.

i have a question about the other subjects that were experimented on by cyrus james. are all of their threads for relationships/emotions, or are there other types of threads? like i had an idea of a related character where she can see threads connected to people’s limbs and can manipulate their movements through the threads, like a puppeteer. what other types of threads would people be able to see? hope you’re having a good weekend!! :)

Ooh-ooooooh, so I can sort of get into this one!

Most subjects can generally only see threads for relationships/emotional connections, to the extent that everyone in Project Beagle is pretty sure these are the only connections a subject can see. In part this is because these emotions are often the... idk how to describe it, the 'loudest' basically (even if it's visual and not auditory unless you're someone with no sight). Love is loud, so very loud, that it's often the easiest thing to see, even when it's still being born (yellow), even when it's only one-sided (green), even when we find ourselves loving something inanimate (blue), the land (brown), and everything in between (white). Love, emotion, attachment has such power that what the third eye often resonates with the easiest are these colors.

But.

But.

This doesn't rule out other types of threads. This is just what's seen most commonly. I could definitely see there being threads tied to limbs! Or what someone might call fate threads - something I initially toyed with adding in and then tossed. Those would basically be threads connecting you to whoever you're destined to do Something Big with. It's not always love, or attachment (though it can be), but it's just that your fate is tangled with theirs at some distant point in the future - think a firefighter who'll save your life, or the person who's going to accidentally run you over with their car. And while I'd probably never get into it because holy shit that would be difficult to manage, I can absolutely see there being timeline threads that someone could see, sort of an underpowered version of a Timelord where they can't see the entire future but they can pull up some of the timeline threads for the next few minutes and see what might happen!

i find it so endearing that hunter is desperate for camila's approval in such a different way that he's desperate for luz's approval... he wants luz to think he's cool and edgy and a respectable figure and then he tries so hard to come off as well-mannered and thoughtful and smart in front of camila. and he doesn't even care about making that good of an impression for anybody else. he immediately sees luz and goes "she HAS to believe that i'm Cool" and then he sees her mum and goes "she HAS to believe that i'm a Good Boy"........

Show premise:

The Mark Side centers around titular character Mark's strained relationship with his childhood best friend Benjamin, who due to years of communication issues now absolutely despises him. Mark however, seems blind to the obvious deterioration their relationship has had, as he harbors major unrequited romantic feelings towards him.

Mirroring the two are Jonathon and Kenny, the other half of the friend group who through their years of knowing each other have communicated and helped each other through hardships, presenting as a strong, healthy couple today because of it.

After a summer of not being on speaking terms, Mark manages to wiggle his way back into the friend group again only to find a new guy has 'replaced him'— Ash, Benjamin's new boyfriend.

It takes place in the fictional town of Ohwell, Texas in the late 2010's!

Season 1 will showcase the arc of Mark struggling to maintain his place in the friend group despite his jealousy whilst also dealing with a plethora of emotional and complex family issues.

The main takeaway theme is that most scenarios are less black and white than one may assume at first glance, showcased by the characters being the antagonists of themselves instead of portraying one character as the villain.

All while maintaining a good balance of humor through an expressive and cartoony style! Humor and style draws lots of inspiration from 2000's Cartoon Network and Disney XD shows!
