just finished season 3 and i have. thoughts.
#random thoughts#guess what motherfuckers it's blue man time#okay so the first three seasons are definitely the best#season one is decent with some great episodes and only one which is merely tolerable#it definitely didn't know what it wanted to do with itself yet hence the. devil.#season two is GREAT. every episode and side plot is entertaining. wish they didn't rehash interdimensional cable.#the wedding squanchers was made a bit weak by rick immediately being out of prison by the next season#and it was a bit heavy-handed on the whole 'rick's worst fears proved to be true and he will never open himself up emotionall again' thing#season three is also great! also a bit heavy-handed in the 'character monologue is deep' front#and then there's. hm. the rickchurian mortydate.#listen. love the divorce. love the new character dynamics. WHY did you pull us back???#the ONLY episode which explored beth as a PRIMARY CHARACTER was ALSO the episode which directly led to her getting back with JERRY???#listen. i love jerry. he sucks so hard. they are not compatible AT ALL.#STOP HAVING THEM GET BACK TOGETHER DURING MOMENTS OF HIGH EMOTIONAL STAKES!!!#jerry has learned NOTHING about beth during the divorce. they talked maybe ONCE.#beth does NOT need a male figure in her life STOP DOING IT TO HER#also??? why did summer consider grandpa her hero in the season 3 opener???#they have NOT hung out like. at ALL. at MOST she's seen him be sexist to some aliens#HAVE! THEM! SPEND! TIME! TOGETHER!!!#he trusts her with the memory protocols! it is implied he PAYS her for her work! she was AWARE of the body mogrification ray!#LET SUMMER HAVE HOT GIRL SUMMER ADVENTURES!!!#give beth more episodes! explore her relationship to her deceased mother! does she know the rick in her house is not her rick?#what about morty? does she know her son is buried in the backyard?#fucking. explore how she feels when her father drags her son out of the house at god knows what hour AFTER she divorced jerry!!!#would she complain? would she become a doormat? she mentioned fearing being like her mother and driving rick away and you did NOTHING.#does she have hobbies? what does she do outside of work besides drink and watch her programmes? does she have any friends?#what happened to her coworker who was always flirting with her? how would their relationship change after her DIVORCE?#WHAT HAPPENED TO HER JOB IN SEASON 3? I WANT TO SEE HER LOSE HER WORK-LIFE BALANCE AND THROW HERSELF IN POST-DIVORCE#BETH KILLED A GUY! BETH KILLED SEVERAL LITTLE FUCKED-UP HUMAN FROOPY HYBRIDS!#how did she feel about jerry dating again? did anyone tell her? why didn't she even MENTION whether or not she wanted to start dating again?

ik this isn't new or anything but the fact that aside from morty, the whole smith/sanchez house is canonically queer is so freaking cool! seriously how did this show amass so many anti sjw reddit ass men as a fanbase when 80% of the main characters are queer? i think summer got a female love interest in 2019 and beth's whole sapphic horse girl thing happened last season, but jerry and rick have been canon since season 2.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
like idk im just saying this show is awfully gay and has been for a while. i genuinely don't get it when i see people bitching about rick and morty going woke or whatever.
i don't have anything like intellectual to say about the representation or queer themes in the show, it just makes me happy. having a family sitcom where the family is a fruit basket with one token straight isn't exactly a common occurrence, and it just so happens that's what my family's like. shoutout to morty and my mother, we love our allies
season 7 spoilers
YESSSSSS summer gf arc?
Tumblr media
anyways i doubt she's coming back i just think it'd be pretty sick and dope if she did

Bless us with all those sweet Rick x reader headcanons you hold
!! thank you sm for asking !! i'm not sure how many i have in such a broad sense, but here are some HCs i usually apply when thinking abt a relationship w/ rick!!
xXx
-i always imagine you meet Rick through Beth somehow. In my head, it's usually though an exercise class of sorts (Zumba, bc my first R+M hyperfixation was when I was doing dance twice a week LOL), but I also really like the neighbors approach too (typical) because i think it's fun to think she starts inviting you over to have wine nights with her and you become really good friends!!
-I also love HCing Morty bonding with you too!! Seeing the way you make his mom happy and pique Rick's interest in just the right way makes him literally. Want. to befriend you. He thinks you're cool and also genuinely NICE ASF which lowkey pisses Rick off for a bit but makes him all the more inclined to like, actually talk to you (bc he's jealous you won over Morty so easily<3)
-Rick definitely goes (a little) out of his way to impress you (eventually). not... overboard, because he's still Rick and his literal brand is not caring ofc, but... i do think he enjoys it, per se, esp season 5+ Rick who's a lot more considerate... when you seem interested in what he's doing and actually want to talk about it. Part of him is def still skeptical, but... it grows on him the closer you get emotionally ...
-Rick is surprisingly appreciative of acts of service!! Esp. things like cooking him food / doing laundry, and even more so if who you're helping is Beth, Morty or Summer!! I always think about you dropping off food for the family if Beth is working late, or helping summer w/ her homework... and i for sure see it as something Rick... notices and pays attention to.
-I LOVE RICK'S LITTLE COT in his room. it is so silly to me that he sleeps on that in HIS fucking DAY CLOTHES. So I think he gets all weird abt spending the night at your place. Maybe weird is the wrong word, but like. usually he's down to fuck and then just go home (or spend the night but not care abt the emotional significance of it and skip your morning together) and it's like. Lmaoooooo.
which I think for a while you're kinda cool w/ because... idk. It's not that serious? but the first time you actually have a real sleepover in your own space (and not an alien motel or his car) is genuinely so. intimate. and signifies and big change
-omf there was only one bed fic WHEN???? sharing a room fic WHEN?????
-but FUCKING IN HIS CAR HAS DEFINITELY HAPPENED absolutely. the way he had a little curtain when he was w/ daphne ... you have def used that curtain. and literally slept back there too.
-he has more dad/caring traits than he realizes. Sick? Sleep it off. Need a nap? Here's a bed. Always has everything you need on hand and is willing to give it to you <3
-he thinks it's hot when you fight with him and doesn't take you serious half of the time because of it
-when he doesn't smell like alcohol and oil he actually smells. so fucking good. Naturally sweet and kinda musky but in such a comforting sense!! u always know if he's been around somewhere in the house bc the scent lingers (or maybe youre just sensitive to him, who knows)
-one day we need to talk about his horrible possessive-ness streak when you actually manage to get close to him. Always talking abt how he doesn't care but really he's a HORRIBLE liar. coping mechanisms are 0/10 (tell me why he's surprised to find out you need to cope too LMFAO)

Do you think about the whole Rick Prime thing? Did it kinda feel anticlimactic???
Yeeahhhhhh, but... I think that's the point!
At first, I was a little bit disappointed with how they handled the arc. I really thought Prime was going to be the Big Bad! Having the whole climax of C-137's arc with Prime as a mid-season episode felt oddly... dismissive? It was like it wasn't even a major event.
Tumblr media
After sitting on this for a bit, I think I actually love how they've handled it. I think this is the first time I've really seen the show take something that perfectly fills a 'Television Run' format (i.e. big events at the ends of the seasons for cliffhangers, and so on) and subvert those expectations into something more like 'Real Life.' In my opinion, a lot of the show is shown as how characters involved view the events, especially in terms of tonality. That's why so much of the show fits these media formulas-- Rick views his life as a show.
I often refer to the majority of the show as 'Rick's Director's Cut' because we get events skewed from his warped perception of his own actions. (You can even think of 'Morty's Mindblowers' as Rick literally editing footage into a better story.) Of course, we see why he's sympathetic. As the viewer, we understand why he's doing what he's doing, even if we don't agree with it. He views himself as the 'sitcom dad'-- comically fucked up and abusive, but secretly caring. Rick believes that he's got just enough heart for his actions to be excusable, forgetting that the people he hides his intentions from aren't getting the 'full picture' like the viewer is. From Morty's perspective, Rick does these things for no reason-- unless you count not liking, caring about, or valuing Morty. Of course, we know that's not the case, but Morty doesn't. His family doesn't.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Prime arc is fascinating to me because of the contrast between how Rick viewed it versus how it happened from the perspective of the viewer. Rick went into the Prime arc thinking it would be a massive, badass epic where the underdog comes out on top and the audience is satisfied with the conclusion. As the audience, this is probably the first time we haven't really been able to click with that, you know? It was unsatisfying, even for Rick, and now he's sort of saddled with, 'Oh, shit. This is real life. What comes next?'
Tumblr media
Sure, they're little guys on our television screens. To them, though... that's real life. Real life is messy. Real life is unsatisfying. Real life is disappointing, the editing is sloppy, arcs aren't linear, and dysfunction and substance abuse aren't silly character traits.
The whole point is: What happens now?
In real life, what happens after your abusive parent passes away or you finally get revenge on the person who tore your life apart? In real life, what happens after you beat the shit out of the guy who assaulted you? Or after your dad apologizes for walking out on you?
There's actually a Malcolm in the Middle scene reminiscent of this concept. Francis was blamed by Lois from the time he was born for ruining their relationship. Throughout the entire series, his arcs deal with their broken relationship. When she finally apologizes, the pinnacle of his hopes and dreams-- the only thing keeping him alive, it doesn't help. It doesn't fix the years of psychological abuse he suffered, or the fact that he's as broken as he is because of her failure as a parent.
youtube
Another great example is in Adventure Time, when Finn thinks he's ripped Martin's arm off for causing him to lose his own. The revenge doesn't help. (Sorry, not digging for a link to the scene lmao.)
Tumblr media
Those things aren't satisfying on their own. The fantasies and daydreams we barter through aren't feasible cures. That's real life. What happens afterward is what you do next. That can be a tough pill to swallow. There's no quick 'fix-all' for everything that's fucked you up. What helps? Hard work. Dedication. Time. Therapy. Grief. Acceptance.
Rick never really worked through the grieving process, you know?
There was Denial and Anger:
Tumblr media
And where he got stuck... Bargaining:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After Prime's death? Depression:
Tumblr media
Four decades later, we're finally on the cusp of Acceptance.
That's what that look into the hole was. That's what putting up Morty's picture was. That's what choosing to walk away was.
Acceptance.
Tumblr media
In conclusion of my long-winded rant, I liked the Prime arc. Fits nicely into the season after the finality of 'Fear No Mort.'
Well done, writers.
Thanks for asking! <3

Is it a coincidence that both Rick AND Beth abandoned morty for summer? Like father like daughter? And isn’t it interesting that in this universe she doesn’t regret not aborting summer? They way rick hugs summer back in the gotron episode. But he never hugs morty back until fear no mort, but even that has hesitation. He said summer reminds him of Diane. Does Beth think that too? would rick abandon morty for Diane if given the chance— morty clear thinks so from his pov in the hole, but the question is, would Beth give up morty and summer to see her mother? I really want to dissect why everyone in the family dislikes morty.
Jerry calls morty stupid multiple times, and always yells at him for not trying hard enough. I see this as projection, personally. Jerry projects his own insecurities onto his son because he cant be the Only one like this. Morty even says he’s just like his dad, when someone asks “is everyone in your family an idiot?” And morty says “well for sure me and my dad are” in the Pluto episode.
Rick dislikes morty early on because he is supposed to. He knows thats how Ricks are supposed to treat morty, but we clearly see that rick cares the most, especially in Close Encounters of the Rick Kind, where he cries watching memories of morty. Evil rick says that no rick cares about their morty, and from then on we see rick continuously overcompensate with insults towards morty. However, we see that rick truly cares in multiple episodes, to name a few; Meseeks and Destroy, Get Schwifty, Look who’s Purging Now, Rest and Ricklaxation. These are all episodes prior to season five, where rick realizes he is a bad partner and leaves. Something interesting is that in GoTron, Rick only abandons Morty when his ideas are not being backed, and are instead being backed by summer, who he says reminds him of Diane (in fear no mort). It’s interesting because we can assume that rick is looking for comfort and acceptance from Diane, and the closest person he can get it from is Summer. He also values summer in this episode because she has never really stood up to Rick on adventures, something Rick dislikes about Morty.
It’s also interesting to add to the mix that his Morty is Morty Prime, the grandson of the man who killed his family. Rick had no problem leaving the rest of the Prime dimension behind, but on some level i think he knew that he needed Morty Prime (before he had even really gotten attached). Rick values the one thing he has against Prime, but he knows that Prime is in Morty’s blood, and I think every time Morty stands up to Rick he sees a small flash of Prime in the kid’s personality, and it scares him to death. It’s a juxtaposition between one grandchild representing his dead wife, and the other representing his mortal enemy.
Finally, I want to talk about why Beth seems to dislike Morty so much, only really showing she cares when he’s in distress—and when she’s right. Beth obviously seeks Rick’s approval, and because of that she has a lot of the same traits. Again, Morty stands up to her, (i forget what the episode is called) but when Summer is turned giant, Morty tells Beth that she is just as arrogant and reckless as Rick, and that being like him isn’t going to make him like her more. Beth wants attention more than anything, and when she and Jerry are going through the divorce in season two, Summer immediately chooses her mother, refusing to talk to Jerry at all. Morty, however, talks to both of his parents. Beth values loyalty and trust over everything, and her abandonment issues are obvious when she appreciates people who stay more. In the Prime dimension, Beth Prime tells Jerry, “a real man stands by his woman,” and in the post credits scene they have this exchange:
Jerry: do you ever wonder what happened to rick and morty?
Beth: sometimes, but i hate to admit that now that they’re gone, im finally happy.
Beth knows that Rick would always abandon her, and on some level i think she believes that morty is betraying her by putting trust in rick, among her disappointment in a lot of Mortys actions in school and socially. This episode really shows that she values Jerry and Summer above Rick and Morty, because Jerry and Summer would always stay.
Beth and Summer both know that Beth had almost aborted Summer, and Beth wants to prove that she’s not like her father; that she wont suddenly abandon or betray her daughter. Choosing Summer over Morty in Morty’s Mind Blowers is Beth’s way of showing her devotion and loyalty to her daughter, saying that she wouldn’t leave. She’s better than Rick. Again, in the GoTron episode, Beth is willing to leave morty behind because she trusts Jerry, summer, and Rick more, because she knows they could leave, and she needs them to stay with her, because they have shown that they’ll stay with her. the only time Beth truly comforts and shows affection to Morty is in the Planetina episode, where she consoles him after the break up. In some way, this reminds me of something Rick would do, and has done. She and Rick had both at one point manipulated a loved ones relationship for their own benefit, or simply to hurt someone else. Rick sabotaged Beth and Jerry’s marriage multiple times, and Beth (even though she was right bc planetina was lowkey weird as hell) sabotaged Morty’s relationship—actually his happiness, and the first time he had felt valued—because she needed to feel valued more, the same way rick wanted to be valued over Jerry.
Idk if this makes sense im just kind of spitballing here but . I think everyone in the family has a distinct reason for disliking and excluding morty, and while they have their moments, i don’t really think they matter compared to the sheer amount of disrespect morty gets. I didn’t put summer here because they both have their own problems, and for the most part they value each other the same amount because they both want to break the cycle their family is stuck in.
If u read all of this thank u :) lmk what u think

I HAVE ANOTHER RICK AND MORTY OVERANAYLASIS BITCHESSSSSS
Rick pushing people away to protect them is genuinely heartbreaking. Anyone he loves either ends up dying, leaving him, or get put in danger because of him.
I believe he sees himself as a virus. Infecting anyone who gets too close. He hates that he cares about anyone. He wants to be like Rick Prime, he wants to not care about anyone to be by himself doing whatever he wants not being stopped by stupid things like "morality" and "emotions" apart of why he hates Rick Prime is because he's everything Rick wants to be, but can never bw. That also attributes to his self loathing, if you want to be like your worst enemy, the persin that killed your wife and ruined your life, what does that make you? Why does he wants to like someone he hates? That makes his a horrible person doesn't it?
Then in season 2 episode 10 "The Wedding Squanchers" he finally decides to openly show his love and support for Birdperson's marriage, showing that hes nothing like Rick Prime. Then What does he get as a reward for being vulnerable? For showing just how different he was for not being Rick Prime? Tammy shooting Birdperson right in front of him. He loved Unity and what happens? Unity left him, pushing Rick so far that he attemped. He loved Daphane and what happens then? Daphne leaving him when she had no use for him anymore. He loves Morty and what happens to Morty on a daily basis? He's constantly put in danger because of Rick. He loved Diane and what does he get? Seeing Diane blow up in front of him.
Thats why he's awful to Morty. He thinks that he needs to push Morty away to keep him safe. So he constantly insults Morty, hoping that he would eventually start believing what he's saying, hoping that he won't love Morty, hoping that Morty will distance himself so he won't get too close and end up getting hurt, but Morty stays and Rick is stuck. He wants to keep Morty safe, so he pushes him away but he also needs Morty and wants him to stay. But in his mind, people around him get hurt. That's why Healthy Rick was nice to Morty despite not caring about him. And why Toxic Rick treated Morty horribly despite caring about him. He's mean to him because he loves him, because he's terrified of losing him. Being harsh towards someone you love is a paradox, Ricks relationship with Morty is a paradox. He wants Morty to leave but needs Morty to stay.
Thats why he considers him caring about Morty irrational. It's inherently a paradox. He wants Morty to go and stay at the same time. He wants Morty to go to keep him safe. But he also loves Morty and just wants him to stay by him. It doesn't make sense for him to want two completely opposite things. To give such mixed messages. There were so many times where Morty wants to leave but Rick convinced him to stay. He wants Morty to leave so Morty will stay safe. But he genuinely could not imagine (nor does he want to) being without Morty. Morty is such an inherent part of him now. Morty leaving would take a part of Rick with him.
He hates caring about Morty. He doesn't want to. He wants Morty to leave. But he doesn't. He wants to hate Morty. But he doesn’t. He wants to be like Rick Prime, not caring about anything at all. But he's not. Because he cares about people, and he hates himself for it.

"Analyze Piss" was a great episode but not what I expected, which made it hard to write a review at first. I assumed that most of the episode would take place in Dr. Wong's office with Rick hashing out some of his issues. Admittedly, I guess that's what happened in a more indirect (and more entertaining) way.
When Jerry's fight with Pissmaster went on for a good couple of minutes, I was like...are we seriously spending valuable screentime on this? But I guess we needed to see Jerry being a badass and humiliating Pissmaster to understand why the world was fawning over him.
The topic of change keeps coming up this season. People tell Rick that he won't change, and he doesn't want to, but he IS changing. Unfortunately, no one seems to notice.
Tumblr media
He tries to tell Jerry that acting like a superhero is a bad idea. The family boos him. He tells them at the end of the episode that he knew Jerry's adventures would fall apart, and they boo him again.
Rick tells them that they're only praising him for trying to change because they want to feel superior--and maybe he's right. In their minds, THEY don't have to change anything. HE does. And it's 100% true that Rick's fucked up a lot of shit, he's been abusive, he's hurt Morty in ways that he probably can't atone for, and he needs therapy more than anybody.
But they talk about his therapy visits in a condescending way, like "Aww, that's so cute! Are you going to change for us, Rick? Are you going to be docile and passive?" They praise him when they think that Rick concocted some crazy plan to boost Jerry's ego for no reason. When they learn the truth, they turn on him again.
I won't say that he doesn't deserve it. They don't owe him anything, and they'd be well within their rights to kick him out of the house and never talk to him again. But Rick didn't create the toxic family dynamic that Beth and Jerry had been cooking up for 16 years before he showed up. I think they're telling themselves that everything that happens is his fault, and he's getting to the point where he's kind of letting them think that.
Tumblr media
Rick smiles to himself when the Smiths leave with Jerry on his ship (although he does drink from his flask) and ignores a couple of the bad guys tailing him. When they start fighting each other and leave him alone, he thinks that he's got it all figured out.
But inevitably, he starts to fall apart. He gets drunk and hears people at the bar mocking Pissmaster. "Who could relate, being that much of a piece of shit?" Rick can. He and Pissmaster aren't that different--they provoke people, they're pieces of shit and everyone wants them to be the villain. He's going to visit Pissmaster so they can drink beer and bond over their shitty lives.
He arrives to find that Pissmaster killed himself. Through the door, Rick hears Pissmaster's daughter apologize and say that she's worried about him, she loves him and she'd blame herself if something happened to him--all things that Rick would love to hear from his own daughter, and probably never will hear. At least not in that same fretful, emotional tone.
Tumblr media
Everything goes to shit for everyone except Pissmaster's daughter, who believes that her father died a hero. Admittedly, Rick shouldn't have told Morty about the note--it's understandable that he'd want someone to know the truth, but he can't trust a 14-year-old kid with that information, and he needs to stop seeing Morty as his peer anyway. He should've taken it to Dr. Wong.
But telling the truth just makes the Smiths turn on him again. And after all that, why should Rick change? Why be honest? Why not play the roles that they want him to play: the aggressive villain or the docile old man, or both?
Sometimes, the people around you don't want you to change even if it's for the best. I don't think the Smiths want anything to change. That would force Beth and Jerry to face their shitty marriage and the ways they abused and neglected their children, especially Morty, and that's not going to happen.
Just keep blaming everything on the drunk old man in the garage.
Tumblr media
But Rick IS changing. In seasons 1-4, Rick would have taken the fact that they believed that he was always Pissmaster as an opportunity to gloat and manipulate everyone. Here, he just looks at them sadly. He tries to talk Jerry out of doing something that he knows will end badly. He desperately tells Morty the truth because he's sick of lying. And the entire premise of the episode is based on Rick willingly going to therapy.
Seasons five and six have countless moments that show that Rick's trying to grow up, show affection, be a father figure, admit to his fuckups and treat Morty gently. Even in season four, he was starting to cut the bullshit a little.
And it must be hard on him. Everything was easier when he was a monster. Beth loved him, Jerry was out of the way and he did whatever he wanted with no guilt, fear or regret while suppressing his trauma and shame. Wouldn't it be easier to be the heartless patriarch who can manipulate his family into doing anything? Go on adventures? Cook and clean for him? Stop talking to Jerry? Show him affection? Actually want to be around him? Make him feel human again?
Tumblr media
There's no going back even if he tried--they know him too well now. And he shouldn't go back because he was a monster destroying his entire family. But he needs the Smiths' affection and encouragement if he's going to get anywhere because he's not going to get it from himself.

Special ask, just for you! :3
What’s the number one thing you’d like confirmed in Rick and Morty canon? The multiverse is your oyster! ✨
OH MY GODDDD ok so. I made a post a while ago that was my theory to how season 8 should go : SO. I want birdperson to come to the smith house in the rain and he looks like a sopping wet beast with miserable eyes and he's like. Rick. I regret to inform you that I may...require some.. parental assistance. Bc he's not used to being a girl dad and Rick's like . *drops flask but his cyber enhancements catch it* because his crazy pining buddy is there at HIS DOORSTEP and anywho shenanigans happen and it's a slowburn romantic comedy with old man yaoi. Then birddaughter becomes another sister to morty and they're happy. (As happy as they can be) evil morty shows up and usually she's. A kuudere is the simplest way i can put it and she turns into someone who's soft spot is prime morty. Like she'll show up to take chips from their cupboard bc she doesn't want to be alone since the citadel collapsed but doesn't want to see any other version but them. She acts angry and pretends she doesn't like them but she does secretly.
THIS IS WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO SEE HAPPEN

ok i'm just gonna ramble ab unmortricken bc i have exactly ZERO COHERENT THOUGHTS AB IT
evil morty backstory - i rlly like that they just made him some random morty who rose above everything after getting sick of rick's abuse. it makes what he did feel even more earned and weighty. i think his motivation is a bit extreme still but i can't rlly blame him.
it's cool seeing infinity beyond the central finite curve. the jetsons inspired bit was v amusing bc i forgot about them lmao. but otherwise it seems absolutely wild west beyond the curve and i LIVE for that.
i also didnt imagine that we'd be seeing him again. i thought the way he left the show was perfect and if they brought him back it would just feel cheap but it DOESNT in this episode i love his appearance.
i rlly like seeing our morty be supportive of rick. he's literally trying everything to cheer him up and it's very important to me.
the prime decoys confuse me. like do they all share a consciousness? is prime just very very good at fucking with ppl that he's made all the decoys communicate w each other?
evil morty outsmarting rick is a great recurring theme in the episode. "filter for probability stasis" YEAH U TELL HIM LITTLE DUDE. we've never seen a morty like that EXCEPT for him and i think it's wonderful.
the exchange between rick and evil morty. "you're such a narcissist" / "literal glass house" / "you think you're better than me?" / "jesus i HOPE SO" SHITTING
i didnt initially like the decoy trap thing being full of loads of other ricks. it made me feel like our rick wasn't very important to this dude and rick just made an enemy of a guy who didn't know he existed. BUT i don't stand by that anymore. the rest of the episode made me change my mind very quickly with.
the omega device. holy fuck this is the worst reveal to come out of this episode. she wasn't just killed, she was ERASED by prime in every reality. like she is GONE gone. that's why we've never seen her, save in flashbacks and memories. she's gone.
and i'm pretty sure it's our rick's fault that he did that. we see his beth and his diane be killed by a bomb, not wiped from reality like slo mobius is later in the episode. so his family was killed BEFORE all the shit with the omega device. ik correlation ≠ causation, but it rlly explains why our rick in particular is so hungry for revenge. if he was the one that made prime kill diane everywhere then he had to be the one to make prime pay for it.
i like how the multiple monitors seems to be prime's signature move. it happens here and in the s6 premiere.
and oh fuck the parallels. "when i invent something it works, it's called being talented" in story train vs "when i make a weapon in works."
oh man the diane head weapon thing. it's interesting that it was programmed to mock rick sexually, but even on our rick who knows it's a trap, it still affects him seeing her face again. "god i missed that face." and then the blank stare when she asks for a kiss. pretty sweet and fucked up.
rick and evil morty having to work together to get their portals working. the contrast between our morty freaking out and evil morty blank staring.
the bit with the portal closing too soon. i know it happened earlier this season and i think it's so funny lmao.
I CANNOT STRESS TO YOU ENOUGH THAT I WAS SO MADE WHEN I WORKED OUT THAT INSTEAD OF YELLING WHILE GOING THROUGH THE CURVE THING IN THE MIDFLE OF THE EP HE WAS SCREAMING "PRIME" THOSE DIABOLICAL LITTLE BASTARDS AT ADULT SWIM.
prime calling rick the Wife Guy. hilarious. raises questions. makes me gnaw on my cell bars.
AND THEN the second incredible reveal of the episode: "Honestly, Wife Guy, I do miss when it was just us. The only two Ricks who actually invented portal travel." WHAT bestie prime bby girl u need to say that again. you guys were the ONLY ones who invented interdimensional travel, every rick's claim to fame. but no they just got the technology from prime who started a boys club of ricks who wanted to leave their lives behind that our rick refused.
but the reference to a time when they were closer, when it was only them - HELLO?? maybe i'm grasping at straws bc i want them to bang but holy shit.
the confirmation of the fan theory that rick based his AI voice on his wife. 10/10.
and then the fight scene. oh gods the fight scene. rick just screaming that he'll kill prime. prime regenerating constantly, looking unscathed as our rick becomes more and more dishevelled. it's too perfect i CANT. but otherwise they both seem pretty evenly matched w all the implants and stuff so without the regeneration i think rick would've had him. oh well.
rick like literally died during the fight.
the cool grandson/shitty grandpa exchange gives me breath. i LOVE how it's a morty that outsmarts prime. it's what he deserves.
prime still trying to be a smartass to evil morty, growing more and more panicked as it goes on bc he doesn't know what to do with the situation and control for once is not in his hands.
"what are u gonna 'aw geez' me to death?"
evil morty not even explaining his plan, just silently dragging in our rick and reviving him. saying "knock yourself out" with the intended double meaning. prime's almost scared expression as rick gets dragged in.
and then our rick has a choice. he can stop evil morty from keeping the weapon plans or he can kill prime. but that's a choice he made already. it's not even a decision. so his other enemy gets away.
the brutal brutal scene at the end when rick is just hitting prime. no tech, no implants, no gadgets. just fists. and rick beats him literally to a pulp as prime screams and laughs at him and taunts him further. it's meant to be sickening. it's meant to be personal. and it accomplishes that perfectly.
they don't even show prime's body in great detail. it's RIGHT in the background but we heard the sounds of the punches, we saw his nose break and his bloody teeth and haemorrhaging eyes and his brains coming out the side of it head and all we can make out is his fucked up swollen and broken face in the background as he sits still attached to the chair, a river of his blood pouring from the room.
but its not triumphant. they made rick's revenge hollow and bittersweet. its over but it destroyed rick in the process. who is he now that he isn't hunting prime? fucking no one.
then "look on down from the bridge" starts playing. we heard this in season 1 in rick potion #9 after morty had to bury a version of himself. he was struggling with the purpose of his life after switching universes. but he deals with it and overcomes it.
i think that scene is rick, for the first time in the entire show, struggling with his nihilistic philosophy. bc yes, he's shown to be an existentialist in the show (the difference being existentialists are "nothing matters but this matters to me" instead of "nothing matters so i don't have to do anything"). he had a drive. he had ppl he cared about. but now he's reached his goal he just feels empty and hollow. everything's meaningless and he's NOT okay with that. he never has been, but he has to grapple with that finally now he doesn't have a distraction. i don't think he can just bounce back and move past what happened.
ppl are saying this episode felt overstuffed and maybe it was but i'm very pleased with it and want to know where it's going.
i feel we still don't know the full story with prime. i'm predicting a flash back episode in the future explaining what the nature of their relationship was like before the bomb incident.
we also know that evil morty has this weapon that could destroy all ricks. so that is just a ticking bomb.
anyway i can't wait for angsty rick.
i actually watched unforgiven for this episode bc i'm a big fan of westerns anyway. the only real parallels i can see is they both have a group of three (two are already partners and the other one is the call to adventure) and an unsatisfying ending. bc that's the nature of westerns. they should NEVER end happily, and if u think so then ur wrong (/nsrs enjoy media how u want).
some things i haven't mentioned but enjoyed nonetheless
the schematics for the omega device is titled <SCHEMATICS BOOGER-AIDS-V2>
the arm/leg swap best in the fight
the comparison between the song at the end playing here and in season one shows with just visuals how the dynamic of beth and jerry's (and beth's) marriage has evolved since then.
everyone freaking out when indiana jones rick shoots and it ricochets off the wall and evil morty just stands expressionless until it hits his forcefield.
morty going to hug rick covered in blood, realising, hesitating, and then doing it later anyway to try and make rick feel better.
evil morty making a point to say that he doesn't want vengeful summers coming after him for omega devicing rick. not vengeful mortys, vengeful SUMMERS.
just evil morty in this whole episode was an absolute delight i need to see him more.
THE TEAR MARKS AFTER RICK EMERGES FROM BEATING PRIME TO DEATH
slo mobius' wife almost going down the same path our rick did only to find someone she loves and focus on that, saving her. makes me wonder if they're gonna try putting rick in a relationship.
this ended up being way longer than it should have. anyway. very pleased. this season is hitting all the marks for me overall.
also don't be too hard on me i didnt edit this 😭

Grey Jedi and Mandalorians. She's wrong about both
youtube
To start off, I am what Lily would describe as a Star Wars weeb. I live, breathe, and shit star wars.
First things first, Gray jedi is not a thing in canon. I'm sorry, everyone who wanted it to be canon it's just not. Ahsoka isn't a gray Jedi and none of the other morally gray characters that can use the force, and it's not because of what Lily thinks. simply put, no mortal force user can be in the middle. Now, you can have force users that don't aline themselves with the jedi or the sith, but that doesn’t make them a Gray jedi. If you're a jedi, you use the light side. That's why you're a jedi, and if you're a sith, you use the dark. That's why you're a sith.
Now that that's out of the way... Lily doesn't know how the Jedi and the Sith work or why people actually want a gray Jedi. She chalks people wanting a gray Jedi as people who can't make a choice because they are scared of that, not because maybe they want a force user that uses both sith techniques and jedi techniques. She brings up the jedi and sith code
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She describes the Jedi code as "living without based passion," which isn't the same as just having no attachments. The jedi is loosely based on Buddhist priests who have no earthly attachments, so they can focus on their own self and inner peace and describes the Sith code as something they came up with to spit on the Jedi code and that the "passion they have is was is what's worth living and that living is the nature of the force" and how the sith code is asking why a Jedi wants to be an "empty husk of a person" which it isn't. Much like how the Jedi aren't perfect all the time... the sith still aren't the good guys. The only way you can use sith techniques is to let your anger and other negative feelings run through you. To use your anger to fan the flame where as the Jedi believes that the anger can drown you in sorrow and make you do things you wouldn't.
In Star Wars rebels season three, you watch Ezra struggle with the dark side after everything that happened on Malachor. You watched him become almost a completely different person, how he no longer saw his friends and family as equals but possessions. You saw how he was quickly to anger, and you can see the looks on the crews face when they can tell he's in a bad mood he was spiraling in his guilt for Ahsoka's "death" and getting Kanan blinded by maul. Everyone could tell he wasn't dealing with his trauma in a healthy way. Something lily needs to understand about the Sith is that they are all traumatized for one reason or another, i.e. it's considered taboo for a sith to pick up a young child. The sith believes you have to experience pain in order to open yourself up to the dark side.
The Jedi learns to let go of the past to move forward where the Sith cling onto the hate and lose themselves to it.
Mandalorian time, next to the mortis gods (the ones), the Mandalorians are my favorite group
The Mandalorians are like the real world Spartans (my siblings call them space spartans) fighting and survival of the fitteat teaching their children at young ages to protect themselves and others that can keep up that doesn’t mean they will watch you die well for some anyway. Mandalore is a bit more like earth as it has many clans, with some getting long with each other and others not so much.
She does have a point in that Mandalorians are toxic masculinity except for the fact that their are women Mandalorians and not all the Mandalorians think the same way hell the Mandalorians themselves talk about how much their own war mindset is destroying their planet death watch are considered traitors.
Something I thought was pretty interesting was how she made fun of people who say that Mandalorians can go toe to toe with the jedi... which is a true thing? The jedi and the Mandalorians don't get along all that much because of philosophy and other things. Mandalorian armor is made out of a metal that can't be melted by a lightsaber they made an energy whip to grab like the jedi when they use the force, and my favorite fact that the Mandalorians made guns called slugthrowers which as basically pistols that fire bullets making it impossible for Jedi to defect them
She also brings up dutchess Satine as the "only person that doesn't want the constant war" and how she was killed only for Obi Wan's characters' development and completely ignoring Bo-Katan's. Yeah, she died in Obi Wan's arms, but that didn't really develop his character. If anything, Bo-Katan had much more of an impact as she left Death Watch, the main group that was responsible for her sisters death and even helped get maul the man that killed her sister dethroned the jedi didn't save the Mandalorians they helped them.
At the end of her video, she goes on about how people who like the like the Mandalorians are plugging our ears and going lalalala at her claims, which are fair fan boys in Star Wars are one of the most toxic people you'll find. For Mother's Day, I made a tiktok saying which woman in Star Wars would be a good mother and had one guy telling me to go back to the kitchen (little shameless sharing of my own content don't mind me)
but what killed me was the fact that she fully blames the Jedi for making the clones. Which just isn't true. The clones were a trap set by Darth sidious and count dokku they were made with Jango fett's DNA with his consistency, and he got his own kid out of it. For the most part, the clones were treated with respect from the Jedi plo Koon treating them like battle brothers Anakin treating them like the people they are. Aayla even developed feelings for her commander, Bly. The sith made them kill the jedi when the time was right.
Something that needs to be said is that the Jedi didn't want the war they didn’t want to fight. No one except the sith and corrupted officials wanted the war because of how big it would be, and even more so, no one liked the idea of the clones everyone saw it as a slave army, which only fueled the Confederacy not liking the republic.
If Lily was a Star Wars character, she would have bought all the propaganda about the Jedi being blood thirsty and needed Order 66 to happen. she'd be on the empire side and call the rebel alliance a group of terrorists. Yes, the clones are slaves but they aren't the Jedi's slaves they're the siths Slaves.
Like I said before, at the beginning, I am a big fan of Star Wars, and for the most part of the video, she has some good points I just really wished she'd understand that the Sith aren't good people the Sith are fueled with revenge they use and manipulate the people around them for their own benefit yes the Jedi were corrupt, yes the Jedi aren't good people either. Get the sith off that pedestal. Yes, the Mandalorians aren't the galaxies' strongest species, and yes, the Mandalorians are the physical embodiment of toxic masculinity, but that doesn’t mean the Mandalorians are something that needs to die out.

About Star Wars theories...
"DAISY RIDLEY WILL PLAY JAINA SOLO!" IMDb pages are less reliable than Wikipedia articles, she's Rey.
"SEQUELS LUKE IS GONNA BE EVIL" No, he's just a guilt-ridden recluse.
"REY IS RELATED TO LUKE/LEIA/HAN/PALPATINE/STEVE/JABBA/OBI-WAN KENOBI" She's nobody. She's a Palpatine. You pick, it doesn't matter, she's a heroine with humble beginnings.
"SNOKE IS [insert name here]" No, he's a strandcast, but narratively it doesn't matter who he is.
"CHRISTOPHER LLOYD IS GONNA BE JORUUS C'BAOTH!" Nah, he's just some tech guy in a Mando side-quest.
"THERE WILL BE A BIG MYTHOSAUR FIGHT!" It literally laid there and did squat.
"WE'RE GONNA SEE TIME TRAVEL, AND A WHAT-IF FIGHT OF AHSOKA DUELING ANAKIN ON MUSTAFAR!" It was just a vision.
"MARROK IS STARKILLER" Nope. It's some rando Inquisitor.
People: look at the pattern.
Yes, sometimes authors will borrow from Legends... those times will be very rare, and when it happens it's not a 1-to-1 translation.
Whatever theory you come up with, if it isn't something grounded and simple... it probably ain't it.
So... your "Baylan is being called by Abeloth/the Mortis Son" theories are probably false. It's too good to be true.
If we're looking at the track record, it'll prolly be: 1) a new creature or 2) something abstract like "a way to destroy the Force"
Or my personal guess:
3) something left unresolved until the next season.
Brace for disappointment, don't get your hopes up, and you'll be positively impressed when they're finally met.

i rewatched s7e3 and the weird sort of straight washing that happened with unity was worse than i realized in my first 1 and a half viewings. so im here to be a little bit more of a hater lol.
okay so like fuck this bitch in particular
Tumblr media
now, i understand that unity has appeared in the comics which i haven't read so it's possible there's some lore there that idk about, but here's the deal as i understand it and why this specific alien acting like the face of unity bugs me so much. this alien is part of a species that, as of the episode in season 2, was very recently assimilated by unity. so like im not sure why there's so much focus placed on her specifically. having her act as a representative of sorts made sense in the first episode, she was a president on the newly assimilated planet that rick and the kids were visiting. but like, that's it, right? it doesn't make sense to me why she would be any more important than any of the other, what? trillions of life forms unity has under its belt? like the only reason for her to be here at all is to be recognizable to the audience, which like, fine. i think it's a little dumb, but whatever. the problem isn't having her as a symbol (personally i think it'd be cooler to not have an entity like unity tied down to being primarily represented through one body but i digress), the problem is that she's treated like more than that in this episode.
this is a part i didn't notice until my rewatch that really irked me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
these are concurrent shots from the scene when rick shows up and starts spraying unity. we see it in virginia telling rick to take it easy through the body of this human, then we see it continuing the conversation from its spaceship in the body of the alien. i am like super not a fan of the implications of that. this alien is not supposed to be unity any more than any one of my cells is me, but here it's depicted as though whenever unity does something in any of its bodies, it's coming from this lady. and like, that'd be super lame even if it wasn't an obvious womanification of a nongendered entity.
now im no english major so i don't have an elegant transition to put here, but yes, it is time to talk about pronouns. yeah yeah, ik, trans person gets hung up on pronouns, bite me okay, it's relevant. i went back and watched the first unity episode to be sure id remembered correctly, and yes, in that episode nobody uses gendered pronouns for unity. morty says "they" which seems more to be referring to a number of bodies, and other than that, people mostly say "unity" or "it". as for the new episode i noticed rick using nongendered pronouns twice
Tumblr media Tumblr media
but after that he goes with she/her for the rest of the episode
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and yeah, i think that is pretty disappointing. i didn't catch that "it" until my rewatch, but the use of "them" did make me really happy but then everybody started she/hering it. the combination of all that emphasis being put on a female body and people calling unity she so much makes for an episode that manages to be significantly less queer than the one that came out in 2015. it feels weirdly cowardly after that "we're all a little gay" bit in the last episode and doesn't inspire much confidence in me regarding rick's relationships with nonwomen. like stuff can be gay if it's for a joke, but there's more money on the line now than back in season 2, so rick's ex lover needed straightening up.
idk. i still like the episode because im easy and focusing on rick's mental health and relationships always makes me happy, but man, i am certainly not happy with how they handled unity. they really did it dirty, watered it down to being pretty much just another alien lady.
(also to be clear, i am not trying to shit on the writers here. obviously idk exactly what went on, but im pretty comfortable placing the blame squarely on execs)

rick and morty is just what happens when a story that normally would be told through something like an indie game or a webcomic or a book series is instead a mainstream show aimed toward adults. and i think it’s beautiful it’s somethign i really love thinking about. rnm has like one of the most interesting foundations for a narrative ive ever seen. extremely normal family just living their life, sure the mother had kind of a rocky childhood but she’s Mostly Fine but then her dad comes in and he’s this guy with literally billions of enemies literally wanted by Everyone in some way for something he has and he’s here because he got tired of hunting his nemesis who is literally himself because he killed his wife which he can’t even see through any of his weird interdimensional travel shit because she was literally wiped from everything ever. and now the family just has to live with him at first only because they think he’s making their son smarter but over time it becomes more apparent that really isn’t the case but they let him stay anyway because by then they’ve all sort of trauma bonded by the things brought on by this guy anyway. but the problem is i see a lot of people getting into the show purely because of that and only expecting the show to always do huge deep lore stuff. which it cant. it has to go for at least 3 more seasons after this (that’s what i heard) so of course it’s gonna drag on with stuff that seems nothingburger and pointless to people who originally only got into the show for the overarching plot. it’s an animated adult show it’s gonna be like that. to me all the extra fucking awesome lore and deep characters and insanely interesting concepts is just extra good stuff. nothing big could ever happen in rnm again and id still love it id never get tired because unfortunately i Love the show!!!!!

Star Trek: Prodigy Season 2, Episode 13: A Tribble Called Quest
That tribble is going to give me nightmares.
Finally, we get a Prodigy episode with the Klingons! I love Klingons overall, and Prodigy did the thing that I always wish they did with the species. I'll get into it more in the spoiler section, but this episode did so much more for the Klingon lore than it had to, and I respect that. On top of that, it kept up the streak of still being a Prodigy episode first, and I respect how good this season has been about doing both. 9/10
My big issue with the Klingons is the old fan question. If everyone in the species is so predatory and warlike, how did they ever invent space travel? This episode didn't answer that, but it did have a Klingon scientist, which I think we need more of generally. And K'ruvang bridged the gap in the way that I thought it should be bridged - he treats science as a noble pursuit, and his scientific success is his source of honor just as much as a warrior's physical success is.
This episode also did some fun things with tribbles. The return of Rok's presentation from the start of the season was genius - that was such a good foreshadow now that I know where it was going. I also appreciate that Rok was able to work with someone else who valued scientific success above their own life, and that she was able to bounce off that with her own struggles and need for success. It's not fully in line with the conformism arc that she started this season with, but it's also part of it in an interesting way.
That being said, the Rok-tribble was slightly scary, at least when I first saw it. I didn't have a problem with it in the Netflix menu for some reason, but when it turned around and stared I was a little freaked out. I got used to it, and I like how Rok grew to accept it, but I'm not sure why they took it with them. It's still a tribble, and we know what happens with tribbles on a spaceship.
Rok sneezing on the tribble DNA reminded me of the Rick and Morty episode where they destroyed an entire dimension with a mutated cold virus, and I kept thinking about it now. If I were to compare them and their takes on scientific responsibility, I'd give Prodigy credit for having Rok successfully clean up the mess, but each show was going for a different theme with how they did that particular storyline, and comparing them doesn't seem fair.
I liked Dal thinking on his feet in this episode and Chakotay propping him up. The two of them have great chemistry in this dynamic, and I'm excited to see where it develops.
We're also getting an escalation of the Zero body plot. It makes sense given where we are in the season, something about it just feels like it needed more time. Maybe if it was going on in a different season where the A-plot wasn't a desperate mission to save the multiverse it could have gotten the time it deserved. What they did with it was still good, I just wouldn't have done it here and now.
One other thing about this season that I'm noticing is that it feels like a summation of this era of Trek. It ties in a lot of loose threads from the other Paramount+ shows and links them back to the older shows, on top of involving and expanding those characters' plotlines into a single cohesive story. It's like this show was trying to be the finale of the era, and I'm not sure where that element of it is leading to. I've been pretty cynical about any Trek getting renewed since Paramount tried to kill this season, and it's interesting that the show itself feels like it's trying to go down swinging.

"Birdperson unexpectedly flirting with Rick." Idea by @joycew-blog
Note:
Inspired by season 1 episode 11. I'm a bit rusty with writing fanfiction but I hope you enjoy :)
Oneshot
Fluff and angst :)
Rick saw Tammy flirting with Birdperson. His heart broke. He was hoping to get closer to BP during this party knowing that he just got out of his soul bond. But after seeing that he had to drown himself in alcohol and space drugs. The rest of the party was a blur and before he knew it the party had died down and everyone was leaving to go party on at Squanchy's place.
Summer said something to Rick and he just mumbled in response, not hearing whatever she said. Morty was picking up trash. "May I assist you with that?", Birdperson asked Morty. "Uh, sure, yeah thanks.", Morty replied, a little confused about why Birdperson stayed after the party. "Morty, do you know what 'wubba lubba dub dub' means?" "That's just Rick's stupid nonsense catchphrase." Birdperson then explained what it meant. He knew Rick had chosen this catchphrase so that only Birdperson could understand him. He wanted his best friend to know that he was in pain.
It had gotten dark and after Rick paused time so that Beth and Jerry wouldn't find out about the party, Morty and Summer went to bed. They decided that they would clean first thing the next morning or whenever they woke up. It would still be dark since time was frozen. Birdperson stayed awake, taking care of a drunk Rick. Rick grumbled and finally woke up a little. He squinted his eyes in the dark. "Birdperson? Why- why are you still here?" "To take care of you, Rick. You're a mess." Rick glared at him. "No I mean why didn't you leave with that other girl? It looked like you two were having a great time." "It didn't work out between us." "Yeah right-" Rick glared at him.
Birdperson stayed quiet for a few seconds, not knowing what to say. "Rick are you jealous?" "No.", Rick replied bluntly. "Then what's wrong?", Birdperson asked, genuinely worried about Rick. "Fine, I am jealous... You know how- you know- what happened at Blood Ridge-" ,Rick stumbled over his words. "Rick, that was years ago. I made a mistake. I'm sorry." "Doesn't matter. You can't change how you replied to my confession."
Birdperson stayed quiet for a bit and then said, "Your hair is nice." "Huh?" ,Rick was utterly confused. Why would BP say that now? "I am trying to flirt. To make you feel better." Rick laughed so hard that he almost fell off the sofa. "That was flirting?" "I tried my best." "Well, try again." Birdperson was happy that he made Rick laugh. "Uh, your eyes are pretty?" Rick couldn't stop himself from giggling. He knew Birdperson wasn't the best with words. "How about just a hug, Pers?" "I can do that." Birdperson moved over to Rick and wrapped his arms around him. Rick sighed and rested his head on BP's shoulder.

Well, that was certainly a finale.
Initial thoughts below (SPOILERS AHEAD):
Ahsoka 1x08:
THE JEDI, THE WITCH, AND THE WARLORD
I’m a bundle of many emotions but first -
Look, nothing’s over. Okay? Filoni is clearly playing a long game here with these characters. So let’s all calm down and wait for the next season.
There was simply too much to show in this final episode for it to be satisfying on every front. I think, for the most part, he succeeded in ending this first season and setting up What Comes Next.
But I do feel like some of the character stuff was resolved a little too neatly, in my opinion.
There’s such potential in these relationships and I feel like Filoni was laser focused on getting the groundwork laid down for the future. And it’s Big.
(THE MORTIS GODS ON PERIDEA. ANAKIN FORCE GHOST. I SCREAMED WHEN I SAW IT.)
I’m not 100% pleased with where Sabine ended up and the fact that she just irrevocably altered the fabric of her home galaxy due to her decision seemed to have been glossed over by Ahsoka and STILL not found out by Ezra.
I mean, there’s HUGE ramifications from what she did. And I’m worried that none of it will be played out to it’s proper devastating conclusion.
Yet, I’m willing to let it slide because it’s clear that there will be more. So, we just have to wait.
Also, the exploration of why Sabine made her choice was never addressed. At least, not in a way that was satisfactory to me. Again, I’m hoping that’s explored in the future . . . but I don’t know.
Even Thrawn was confused about her decision! He couldn’t understand it. And this is Thrawn we’re talking about.
How can you not interpret everything Sabine did in this season as being driven by something more than just friendship. Even the casual fans picked up on it.
(It’s me! I’m the casual fan. Didn’t ship it before and then I saw the first Ahsoka trailer and it suddenly clicked.)
She officially cemented her place in the Disaster Lineage when she made the choice to hand over the map to Baylan! Gambled the fate of an entire galaxy just for the chance to see Ezra again!
That’s peak romance! Literally have not seen a character’s choice forever alter the future on a galactic scale of this magnitude since the main man, Anakin Skywalker, himself!
All for love!
And, yeah, I know the Wolfwren fans are pleased with Shin also being on Peridea. I know Filoni is on the record being against an Ezra/Sabine romance (at least during Rebels, which made sense at the time to me) but I don’t see that pairing being a thing.
We’ve gotten prime examples of healthy, loving, supportive romance from him: Sabine’s parents, Kanan and Hera, Ezra’s parents.
Shin would need to mellow out her murderous nature by 100% to be friends with Sabine. If that happens, I would be cool with it.
Don’t see her doing that anytime soon with her last scene being that. She’s too power hungry.
Other thoughts:
Fantastic battle scenes - highlight being the final duel between Morgan and Ashoka. She went out like a fighter.
Thrawn was excellent, as always. Lars Mikkelsen was born to play this role. His cold, calculating menace is balanced perfectly by some flickers of emotion here and there; the regret when he asked Morgan to stay and his annoyance at Ahsoka escaping his hellfire.
Eman is Ezra. Fantastic casting.
As for Natasha as Sabine . . .
I want more from her. Just more of her as Sabine, forever and always. Still my favorite character on the show. I think there’s more emotional depths to be explored (LIKE HER FEELINGS FOR EZRA) but I’m putting that on Filoni.
(. . . This post is a mess. Sorry for rambling. I’m sure a lot of you feel the same.)
Just want to emphasize that it’ll probably be fine. Nothing’s been decided, one way or the other. And the success of this season should hopefully guarantee more of these beloved characters on our screens soon enough.
And, well, there’s nothing a good fanfic can’t fix. I expect we’ll be seeing plenty of those after this.
