you know, nancy wheeler really had some balls. she'll give the girl that. news had spread like wild fire through their little group that elie and jonathan has started seeing each other. after their califonia trip the two had been closer than before they left. that was clear and most just thought they bonded more on the trip. that was until will barged into jonathan's room and caught them kissing. they had to explain and of course will told mike, who told dustin, who told lucas and steve, who told max and robin, who told eddie and nancy. regardless, news spread and ms. perfect didn't seem to like the information too much. deciding to call jonathan at weird times. now though? the girl was flirting with him and jonathan looked nervous. he kept glancing at elie with wild eyes and it made her laugh a little. elie wasn't the possessive type. if jonathan wanted to go back to nancy than she'd let him, even if it would hurt but she doesn't control him. he can do what he wants. but right now he looks uncomfortable and nervous and that doesn't sit well with her. she makes her way over to the pair. "hey babe!" she exclaims, like she hadn't been watching their interaction with amused eyes. "hey, nance." elie's smile is met with a tight one from the other girl. it makes her giddy to be petty. "nance, you sure you're feeling okay? you're face is a little sour." her finger is pointed at her own face with mock concern on it. "maybe it's the constant crossing boundaries that's making you sick." her smile is sickeningly sweet.

Jonathan and Nancy hadn’t said more than a few words to each other in months, that was until the news had spread that he was now seeing Elie. After that Nancy started calling Jonathan late at night, most of which were ignored or answered by Will or Elie, or even his Mom once when she’d finally gotten fed up with the Wheeler girl who broke her son’s heart. When Nancy couldn’t get through to Jonathan on the phone she started showing up at his house or would barge into the photo room at their shared place of employment to talk and flirt with him, something that used to be endearing but was now just irritating. He’d told her repeatedly to leave him alone, that he had moved on and was very happy with Elie, and that he wanted that for her too, even if it wasn’t with him anymore. But Nancy was Nancy and when she wanted something, she would do whatever it took to get it. 

While Nancy wasn’t really one for house parties anymore she’d decided to go to this one anyways, a part of her knowing she’d see Jonathan there. She’d been proved right about an hour into the party when Jonathan walked in, hand in hand with Elie, something that made the brunette’s blood boil. If Jonathan had known Nancy was coming to this party he’d have been more reluctant to come. Elie had left his side for barely five minutes when Nancy had found him and started flirting with him. He tried to make casual conversation with her, but she just kept flirting. It was making Jonathan uncomfortable, nervous eyes flitting around the room until he found Elie where he kept sending her glances as if to say “please help me”. Nancy could tell Jonathan was glancing at someone, and when she looked she could see Elie out of the corner of her eye, and it made a small smirk come to her face. It wasn’t long before the Henderson girl came to Jonathan’s rescue, something that eased his mind but made Nancy roll her eyes. 

“Hey, firefly..” Jonathan said to Elie with a sweet smile, wrapping an arm around her waist. Which earned another eye roll from Nancy who gave Elie a tight-lipped smile before she spoke, “Hello, Elie..” Jonathan was trying very hard not to grin at his girlfriend’s words, the arm not around her waist coming up to cover his mouth in an attempt to hide it. Nancy gave the pair of them another roll of her eyes. “I’m feeling great, actually, thanks for asking.” Her tone is dripping with sarcasm. “I haven’t crossed any boundaries, Jonathan doesn’t have to talk to me if he doesn’t want to. He easily could’ve walked away by now..” She tells her with a grin, “How are you though, Elie? You’re looking a little green.. Are you jealous maybe? Afraid he might change his mind?” Nancy asks, raising an eyebrow up at the brunette girl, the grin still on her face.

"Wanna build a snowman with me?" - for jonathan

Jonathan was smiling and nodding at Elie before she had even finished her sentence. While building a snowman with his brother every year had become a Byers’ family tradition, building one with Elie had become one too. Though this year was a little different because they weren’t just best friends anymore, they were boyfriend and girlfriend. The brunette would be lying if he said he didn’t want this Holiday season to be special for her as it already was for him. “Of course I do, firefly..”
