One year ago today CCR got in two very tiny, very sick little puppies from a puppy mill in Louisiana. Priced low for a quick sale due to illness we got these sweet 6 week old puppies in hopes we could help them. They came in severely malnourished, terrified of people, sick with diarrhea, upper respiratory infections, chronic coughs, ear mites and completely covered in filth. It took weeks for these darling babies to adjust to humans and for months they were still skittish. Turns out they had pneumonia which has caused enlarged hearts, on top of everything else. Franklins heart went back to a normal size fairly quickly and he was adopted. Molly continued to have an enlarged heart and cough for months after. Finally, when she turned a year old, she was deemed healthy and her heart back to normal. She was adopted by her foster family who couldn't give her up after months of nursing her to health and teaching her that people aren't scary! Stories like this are common, and these puppies were lucky they landed where they did when they did. Their condition was so poor their chances of survival without intervention was slim. They are happy, healthy and well adjusted now. They are adored by their families. They could have had a much different outcome. Stories like Franklin and Molly's are just one example of the horrors of puppy mills and what these poor dogs go through. Puppies like these two are throwaways to them. Had we not gotten them and they had died, it would have been no big deal to the puppy mill. Just one of those things that happens. Please educate and share stories like this when you can. Let people know where that darling pet store puppy came from. Let them know that for every so called 'healthy' puppy they sell there are dozens of sick, diseases puppies dying in cages because it's too much work and money to treat them. Happy 'into rescue day' to Franklin and Molly. 鉂わ笍

This adorable pair recently came into rescue. A caring person got them from a free to good home ad, only to find that these boys have been severely neglected and needed far more care than she was able to provide so she contacted us. These boys are in rough shape with severely rotten teeth, and some other untreated health problems. Bentley only has 3 legs and is severely obese and has a hard time getting around because of the strain on his poor joints. Once these pups are treated medically they will be looking for their forever home.

What do you mean you're leaving me?! I don't care if it's just the weekend. Dad's lap is not nearly as comfy as yours, Mom!!! 馃槶馃槶馃槶 ~Sad Danny

The first of the 4 girls (Baby-now Trixie) saw the vet and it was better news than I expected. We had been worried she was pregnant but she wasn't. Her heart and knees are clear. He eyes are infected and have some drainage that is probably related to the appalling condition of her teeth. They are so rotten two came out during the exam. A dental and spay are in order and she has eyedrops that we hope will not have to continue once the infection in her mouth clears up. She is a scared and nervous little girl who needs love and patience to come out of her shell and blossom. She will make someone a devoted little companion-she doesn't want to be far from her people. Love this girl! 鉂わ笍

Please welcome into rescue Baby, Oprah, Jenny and Sunny. These pretty ladies came from a sad situation with an owner who loved them but sadly age and illness made her incapable of caring properly for her dogs. When she passed away recently we were contacted to take these sweet girls into rescue to find their forever homes. Because they unfortunately didn't get the grooming or vet treatments they needed they were very matted and had to be shaved down. They all need to see the vet, have their spays and dentals and shots and microchips and then they will be ready to find their forever homes. They range in age from about 6 to 10. Baby is very nervous and scared and will need some extra TLC to come out of her shell but the other 3 are typical happy, loving cavs who just crave attention and are love sponges! We will be assessing their health and temperaments before we decide on their forever homes but if you are interested in possibly adopting one of these girls when they are ready and you live within reasonable driving distance of SLC, UT email [email protected] for an application. Thanks to everyone who ordered cavalier silhouettes or donated money to these girls care! 鉂わ笍鉂わ笍鉂わ笍鉂わ笍鉂わ笍

CCR is getting 5 dogs in from a bad situation this week. They are all in bad shape and have been living in cages in a shed with little human contact and no medical care. At the least we are looking at $300 a piece in medical for the spay/neuter/shots/micrcochip/ear cleaning and dental. And that's if there are no other health concerns like heart or eye conditions or other infections. As these are all senior dogs we will not come close to breaking even with our adoption fees. I'm selling personalized cavalier silhouettes to try to raise some money. They are 5x7 and on heavy matte board. They are hand drawn and personalized with the name or any phrase you want (mine says 'cav love') $20 including shipping to the USA and Canada. If interested please email [email protected] to order! Thank you!!
