Eddie runs a satirical Instagram account called hawkins--official where he posts memes and fake headlines and stuff shitting on the town because he hates it here and it's fun. Tons of people follow it and they all know it's run by a Hawkins High student they just don't know who.

Anyways, he posts shit on his story all the time when he's at different places (like a picture of steve's pool and "who else at the Harrington House?"). People often respond to it (and get ghosted) or they just show up trying to figure out who it is behind the account but he's already long gone.

Until one day he posts a picture of the ferris wheel and says "yo who else at the fucking fun fair". Not even five minutes later his phone pings because someone has responded to his story. He's about to ignore it, but then he sees who it's from.

He blinks down at his phone and decides, y'know... what the hell. He's bored and the day that he doesn't lunge at the opportunity to be within ten feet of Chrissy like a dog for scraps is the day he drops dead.

Eddie's never looked up so fast in his life. As soon as he finds the popcorn stand he makes a beeline for it, keeping an eye out for Chrissy.

He's thinking of something suave to say when he finds her, but she beats him to it. As soon as she sees him she waves and holds out a little paper bag of popcorn. "Hello, Mr. Hawkins Official."

Eddie takes the popcorn and looks away grinning. "I don't know what you're talking about."

Chrissy hums like okay, sure and smiles into her drink.

He was gonna play coy but she's just so cute that he can't help it. "How'd you know?"

Chrissy does this like. Full body wiggle that just screams see, I was right! "You posted a picture at Benny's a few weeks ago and I could see your reflection in the window," she whispers conspiratorially.

Eddie clicks his tongue. "Damn. I thought I was being pretty covert."

She shrugs. "I don't think anyone else has caught on yet. They don't wanna believe it's you."

"True," he laughs. "So...you got stood up, huh?"

Chrissy nods. "Big surprise, right?"

Eddie snorts. "Well, then. As the official representative of the town of Hawkins, Indiana, would you grant me the opportunity to show you around one of our finest attractions?" He sweeps an arm out dramatically at the fair before offering her his hand.

For a second he thinks she's going to turn him down, but right before he can drop his hand she takes it, grins, and says "Only if you promise to take my picture at the top of the ferris wheel."

"Deal."

(He does, but that picture doesn't go on hawkins--official. It goes on his personal story, along with a matching post of him on Chrissy's.)

Why is Lucas not in your story? Because he's black?

Okay guys buckle in because this is a long one. Phantom has a main cast of about 10 characters, give or take a few based on opinion of what counts as a main character. That means not every character can have a leading role, and not every character can be in every chapter. Many characters can't be forced to fit into the established character roles, either. Alongside that, there are plenty of characters who have not appeared yet, but will in the future. There are also plenty of characters who will not appear at all.

For example:

Main Cast Christine- Will Byers Raoul- Mike Wheeler Mme. Giry (age swapped)- Jane Meg Giry (age swapped)- Joyce Byers Carlotta- One of the older teens, already assigned. Was I supposed to make Lucas into Joseph Buquet and have him hanged on stage in front of a crowd of rich people?

Absolutely the fuck not.

Was I supposed to make him Carlotta and have him a) lash out at Will verbally and physically and b) be publicly humiliated in front of a crowd of rich people?

That would be character assassination in the worst way, considering that he's one of the kindest and most loving characters on the show (not to mention that he and Will are canonically close friends). This would also just be terrible treatment of his character.

On top of that, I'm ignoring a majority of the ST cast in this fic. The majority of them stay in Indiana, unwritten and undeniably white. It's not about race, it never has been. It's about developing my plot line in a way that doesn't feel like I'm trying to cram every character into every chapter even if they aren't plot-relevant.

Lucas, like Mike, has shown up in Will's memories in previous chapters. That's because Lucas, like Mike, doesn't fit as an autonomous character yet. They exist only in Will's memories right now for a reason, anon. That's part of writing a cohesive story. Characters need to be introduced at points that makes sense. There are certain emotional plot lines that need to develop due to the absence of certain characters.

So: I can't make Lucas fit into an established leading role, but that doesn't mean I can't write him his own plot line as supporting cast.

I haven't even gotten past chapter 3. There are 16 (ish) chapters in the works. I haven't even brainstormed chapter details past chapter 4, which I've only just begun to plan in an outline format (let alone actually writing it). I've only got a vague overarching view of what I want to address in each chapter right now.

There's plenty of space for me to create a plot line for Lucas, one of his own that stays true to his character while also treating him with respect and kindness.

You haven't given me the time to develop that space.

I'd appreciate it if people didn't automatically assume the worst of me, especially about a work in progress. I ask repeatedly for constructive criticism. That doesn't include passing judgement on me and implying I'm a racist for not including certain characters in my plot when I'm not even 1/4 through the story yet.

Hi babe thanks for the ask!! I've love to tell you about it!

I have. So many thoughts about this fic. It's my love my enemy my baby my worst nightmare. It plagues me constantly because I haven't updated it since May and I have chapter 4 half written and I seem to be unable to add more than a sentence or two at a time.

In all seriousness, this fic was the first fic I ever posted for anybody to read so it's very dear to me even though I feel like it's disjointed and could be much better written.

It started out as just a oneshot (the first chapter) but then I kept having ideas for it and it became what is going to be six chapters (I promise). It's really more like a prologue, four chapters, and an epilogue, but it's all the same story.

I have the summary for the story as just "reunions and relationships and reconciliations" because those are the overarching themes I suppose? The first chapter is the two of them reuniting after ten years, the second chapter is a little brief insight into their relationship, chapter three focuses on Chrissy reuniting with her brother and father and trying to reconcile with Phil about her childhood, and then chapter 4 (the reunion) focuses more on Eddie sort of reconciling with someone whose name rhymes with Bason Barver and realizing that everyone has their own shit and people do change and just because someone was terrible once doesn't mean they will be forever. Chapters 5 and 6 are [redacted].

This fic really is such a labor of love, which I think may be why it's taking me so long to write (that and there's The Horrors). The good news is that I'm trying to have at least chapter 4 posted by the end of the year.

And because I just reread this one last night actually, here's a snippet from chapter 4:

He scoffed at the idea that people wouldn't recognize them. He didn't think it was possible to forget Chrissy Cunningham in the first place (Dio knows he hadn't), and even if they couldn't remember his name, he was sure that walking around with a sticker reading "Hello, my name is... THE FREAK" would do the trick just fine.

(And that's exactly what he wrote on the sticker, but when Chrissy looked at him she huffed out an adorably exasperated, "oh, Eddie" and peeled it off of him. On his second sticker, he gave in and wrote out his name, but he made sure to point the first E and the N to look like the Metallica logo.)

There was a monster in Hawkins.

At the very least, that was the rumor after a gruesome string of murders had happened with no evidence of who had committed the crime. Police were torn between the murderer being human or animal. The bodies were torn apart, but it was almost methodical.

Nancy Wheeler knew exactly what it was. It was why she was back in Hawkins, after all. After watching Barbara die under the claws of a rabid werewolf, Nancy decided to hunt down every single thing that went bump in the night. Everything about this case screamed werewolf.

Nancy especially hated werewolves.

So Nancy was back in Hawkins, under the guise of a reporter gathering information on the small town’s tragedies, especially the recent murders. But her investigative skills were being used less to sniff out a story and more to sniff out the beast she was going to put down.

Not one more person was going to die under her watch. The old silver friendship necklace that she always wore was reminder that too many good people had been lost to monsters and creatures of night.

Robin knew this because it had become the very bane of her existence. Being a werewolf was hard enough as it is without other werewolves trying to expose her existence and start a manhunt.

She knew it wasn’t always intentional—the wolf instinct was incredibly hard to control, and even she struggled at times. But this was intentional. She had read the reports about the bodies. It was almost ritualistic, these killings. If the wrong person saw something on the full moon, they might think she was behind it. She and Steve had talked about it enough.

So when Nancy Wheeler, Robin’s ex classmate turned famed monster hunter, showed up in town, Robin knew she was completely and totally fucked.

She could only hope that Nancy would quietly take down the killer without ever finding out her own dirty little secret.

Vickie had seen quite a few crazy things in the last few years, practically thrown into the supernatural world when her college friends summoned a spirit, and then she saw a wolf that definitely wasn’t really a wolf just months later. With little else to do and friends (see: Chrissy Cunningham) to protect, she had decided to try to hunt the beast down. How hard could it be?

Okay, well, pretty hard actually. The monster was certainly incredibly dangerous, and she knew basically nothing about it.

The redhead had picked up on the fact that this was no human killer, that much was known. She had seen photographs of the crime scenes, but she really had no idea where to start.

The library seemed a safe bet, so Vickie took her notebook and started her research.

Chrissy wasn’t really sure what to do about that, but it had her worried. Robin and Eddie had already spoken their fears about the creature and the guests it was drawing into town.

Frankly, Chrissy wasn’t sure she believed everything she heard about Nancy Wheeler. She remembered the girl from high school, Hawkins’ queen bee and known priss. She was a goody two shoes with a 4.0 and far too many extracurriculars. There was no way she had taken up monster slaying as a pastime.

Well, okay, maybe she shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover.

Chrissy had been a popular girl with good grades too, pretty, sociable, and captain of the cheer team—but now she was a tattoo artist and a skilled witch, among other things, so she really didn’t have much room to talk.

Maybe she should worry more about Nancy Wheeler.
