Disclaimer: I do not mean to throw the blame on anyone, I'm just curious. Sorry Cay-cay for throwing you under the bus.

Anyway, Miss Raven, according to you, why didn't Cater do anything (or if he DID do anything, why didn't it work) about the Riddle situation during the latter's freshman year? I mean, Cater was rooming with Trey during that time, he probably knew some bits beforehand...

I think there’s a lot of different angles this question could be tackled from 🤔 However, the most all-encompassing explanation for me comes down to who Cater is at the core of his character. Simply put, he’s just not the kind of guy who likes to get into the heat of things or directly intervene. (Even if he was, do you really think Riddle would listen to him when Riddle didn’t even listen to his right-hand man and childhood bestie Trey, who has tried multiple times to smooth things out on behalf of the whole dorm?)

As early as our first formal introduction to him in book 1, Cater’s constantly trying to trick others into resolving tasks and conflicts for him. He gets Adeuce to help out with painting the roses, and does the same to mob students when it comes to unbirthday party prep in his Dorm Uniform vignettes. There are other instances of Cater being slick too: he slyly suggests that Trey uses his unique magic to change the flavor of the chestnut tarts they make (which would save Cater the trouble of wolfing down something sweet, which he dislikes). In Happy Beans Day, Cater lets Deuce take the fall for him and distract the monsters while he claims the supplies from a crate. These are just a few of many examples of Cater having others "do his dirty work".

There are, of course, times when Cater does step up. However, it's typically done reluctantly, under duress (like, he has no other option/the situation is too dangerous for him NOT to step up), and/or in the face of peer pressure. For example, Cater is the only one of the Heartslabyul group that does not initially want to fight against OB Riddle; Cater just stands off to the side and warns everyone about how they stand no chance. He only joins in when Trey, Ace, Deuce, and even Grim pitch into the fight (and even when he decides to help out, Cater still has a line where he emphasizes that he definitely didn't sign up for this). Even as recently as Stage in Playful Land, Cater is surprised that his classmates want to stay in the park and beat up Fellow Honest for deceiving them rather than have escape as a priority. He makes a comment about how everyone wants to do one thing (which is also implied to be the thing Cater doesn't want to do), so they all have to come to a decision as a group on how to proceed. In the end, he ends up agreeing to stay and get revenge since that's what the group wants. Put like this, Cater's more of a follower and not much of a leader--but he intervenes when it's convenient for him.

Now with that being said, it could be argued that if many Heartslabyul students were complaining about Riddle's rule, why wouldn't Cater also hop on that bandwagon if he's supposedly such a people pleaser?? Well, I'd wager it might be because Cater values his self-preservation more. Considering past behaviors, Cater has demonstrated time and time again that he's willing to throw others under the bus (usually his juniors or whoever else he has to) so long as he can walk away scot-free or doing less work. It's just something that's easy to overlook because Cater isn't the type to pull it off in a scummy way, he's still smiling and friendly as he's duping you. (It’s also worth nothing that the Heartslabyul students themselves were probably tolerating Riddle’s rule better a year ago than a year into it, especially since we see Riddle getting worse over the course of book 1. Maybe the problem just wasn’t “as bad” or people had more patience for it back then.)

Another thing to consider is his position, which I'm sure Cater is cognizant of considering how socially aware he is. He may be a third year, but he's also just... a regular student. He doesn't hold any power over Riddle, nor does he have an intimate bond with Riddle which would incline him to getting involved with him and testing his temper. Cater has seen what happens to the people that defy him, and he's not willing to stick his neck out for them and potentially have the same happen to him. There's no personal stakes or responsibility on his part (unlike Trey).

Cater is defaulting to his usual strategy of letting others try to fix things for him (we see him asking Trey to do something/to talk to Riddle instead of Cater confronting Riddle himself). That’s just how he chooses to tackle issues; there's nothing wrong with that kind of problem-solving if it works for him. If I had to liken it to social media (since that’s Cater’s communication method of choice), it feels like vagueposting or subtweeting instead of tagging or outright naming the person you have beef with in public.

That’s how I interpret it, anyway 🤷‍♀️ It’s by no means the definitive answer!

The announcements caught Obama flatfooted.  Biden had not consulted with his former boss either on his decision to drop out nor on his decision to endorse Harris.  At 12:46 p.m. EDT, Biden posted on X his intention to withdraw.

The endorsement of Harris, also on X, came at 1:13 p.m.  The media have expressed no curiosity about the 27-minute gap.  If pressure had been brought on Biden to endorse Harris, the Obamas weren’t the ones bringing it.

The Clintons are another story.  At 2:10 p.m., Bill and Hillary posted a joint statement on X, declaring, “We are honored to join the President in endorsing Vice President Harris and will do whatever we can to support her.”  At 2:34 p.m. Alex Soros, scion of the Soros evil empire and fiancé of Hillary intimate Huma Abedin, posted on X, “It’s time for us all to unite around Kamala Harris and beat Donald Trump.”  By day’s end, just about every prominent Democrat had hopped on the Harris bandwagon.

not using discord isn't a choice for everyone, tbh I dont use it, period, because I use alternate IM platforms because the part of the world I'm in doesn't use discord as the norm... sites enforcing mandatory discord servers but proclaiming themselves to be inclusive is just untrue. I understand you may feel it's 'silly' or that I should just jump on the discord bandwagon, but why should I have to do that in order to participate in a hobby that never used to need discord? //

one, the example you gave is of you making a choice. you said its not the norm so you dont use it, however it is still an option to you. discord isnt my preferred way to chat nor is it the norm in my social circles. i still got it as rp began to favor it. i literally only use it for rp. two, yes the hobby used to never rely on discord but it did rely on other platforms such as aim, skype, etc. just like everything else on the internet, it evolves and changes over time. heck, we can even look to the rpc as an example as it continuously evolved and changed over time going from proboards to invision to jcink.

making a discord mandatory isnt noninclusive. you choosing to not get it or “jump on the bandwagon” is you excluding yourself from the hobby, not the community excluding you. would you say the same thing about sites not sticking to proboards and all being jcink, and you refusing to join bc you dont like jcink?

expecting everyone to alter what they are doing so that you dont have to get discord is entitlement.

we are also putting so much pressure on the staff to make discord not mandatory, but from a member perspective i am likely not to engage with someone who doesnt use discord. shippers take too long to plot and the pm system is clunky, and i am not going to download a different messaging platform just for one person.

Steve can just begin to make out the bare feet trampling through the sand; the jeans rolled at the bony ankle; the taper of the man’s waist and the broad shoulders above it; the wild hair curling free around his beautiful face. The bound black object clutched to his chest, just as it is every time he makes his appearance here.

I don't know how much you follow what happens on the ' dark side ' of ... I don't even know what to call it , trans movement, where because of this total freedom to be whoever you want whenever you wish to, children and women are at risk of being harmed by pe*ophiles & r*pists who pretend to be trans. This ' fight ' for ' rights and freedom ' hurts both sides, not only the trans people.

I have meet both cool and nice trans people, and bad , insensitive ones , being trans doesn't give you immunity against not being held accountable for your behaviour, yet the latter are acting in immature ways and victimise themselves. There's another side to each coin 🪙. Not everything is about yourself and your struggle only.

If I look online I can observe as well that a lot of people joining the nb, trans bandwagon are indeed people who do struggle a lot with their mental health , the way they percieve themselves, which is something most young people go trough (teen years are full of random shit and growth, expansion) , but the trend of becoming trans made them think they should adopt new identities, and radically change who they are just because of a feeling they have ( or peer pressure).

they also often fail to properly explain that sometimes, peer pressure doesn't feel like pressure initially. it feels like bandwagoning. the pressure comes when you want to get off the wagon. they TRY to do that with drugs, but they always fuck it up. it's always some Other approaching the Normal Kid trying to convince them that "all the cool kids are doing it". but realistically, it looks more like the opening of Carrie; all your friends are doing this bad thing and having fun, so your instinct is to join in on doing the bad thing. it's harder to step away from it, to not do it with them, or hardest of all, to try and get the group to STOP doing it or admit that what they did was wrong.

peer pressure can look like being part of a group, Rightously hurting "the bad people" or "the weird ones", and then being afraid that you'll be hurt if you decide you don't want to do that anymore. it can look like never wearing or acting how you want because if you do, you'll be punished for it; it can look like your entire class deciding that you're okay to bully. that's the pressure. yes, it can absolutely look like someone trying to convince you to do something you don't want to. but it can just as easily look like someone getting really fucking mad at you when you decide you don't want to do that anymore. drugs, sex, bullying the weird kid, wearing certain shoes, reading the "right" and "wrong" books, anything.

all the “peer pressure is bad” education we give kids is practically useless because all it cares about is telling them that Drugs Are Evil rather than the much more useful lesson of ‘the person who responds to you saying you don’t drink by telling you they’ll find a way to get you to is also going to be shitty about all your other boundaries’.

October 14 2023 Barcelona

Carolyn wanted to do yoga this morning, and, since both my teachers are online or across town, I found a studio in Poble Nou within walking distance and we went there. It's actually a very nice studio and we enjoyed the yoga very much, so I might go back.

When we got back home the guys were ready for lunch so we took the metro to Barri Gothic to find a place to eat. It's such a cool part of the city, with its alleyways, ancient architecture, and interesting shops.

There are mural artists all over the city and it was fun watching this guy work his magic. He had created quite a comfortable nook for himself so he could rest while he worked.

We finally chose a restaurant that we hadn't been to before, because Bruce was famished, hoping it would be ok and it turned out to be good. Our waiter was a friendly guy and sitting outside, eating al fresco, is always a charming way to spend the afternoon.

After lunch we wandered through Barri Gothic, admiring the gardens and other green spaces, the relaxed atmosphere of the shops and restaurants, and feeling happy to be together, just the four of us, after being with so many other friends for so many days. Along the way we passed fascinating messages left by artists with strong opinions, some of them quite humorous.

I especially liked this mural of strong, opinionated, and progressive feminists. My feeling is that we need more people to join in solidarity to oppose the Patriarchy that is wreaking havoc in our world, destroying lives, property, and ecosystems. You don't need to be female to be a feminist and it's about time more males woke up and jumped on OUR bandwagon if we want to save our civilization and our Earth. There IS no Planet B. And apparently I'm not alone in this opinion. I'm in good company!

I was intrigued by this shop so we went in and I found a unique and comfortable pair of sunglasses, which were more expensive than I had hoped, but I bought them and pledged to never lose them. I hope I can keep that promise to myself because I have lost sunglasses before, which is why I never spend much on them, just in case. I think the choice to buy these sunglasses reflects a belief that I can be more responsible, or maybe I just gave into the pressure from the others who said they looked chic on me. Oh, well, it goes to show that nobody is immune to flattery.

Back on the street we perused the wall art all the way to the metro and were glad to get home where Bruce rested, since he still wasn't feeling great and the rest of us played three-handed bridge.

After a nap Bruce felt better and we all cleaned up and went to one of our favorite restaurants, Xavier Pellicer, where the service is EXCELLENT, the food delightfully creative and delectable, and the price not too much for all they provide. They could be a Michelin star restaurant, in my opinion, but perhaps they don't want that pressure, so we are just happy to patronize them whenever possible and hope they stick around for many years.

Leah Has Joined the Lawsuit Bandwagon

Leah McSweeney has joined the bandwagon of suing Bravo, and she’s accusing Andy Cohen of pressuring the women to take cocaine with him.

Sha has filed a lawsuit against Andy and claimed that Bravo “preyed on her alcoholism.”

She accused Andy of “snorting cocaine with his favourite Housewives” and gives special professional favours to them.

Honestly, I wasn’t shocked by this even if Page Six called it a bombshell of a lawsuit.

Kathy Griffin accused Andy of snorting cocaine years ago, but it seems like people didn’t listen to her.

And favouritism is not a secret either. Vicki Gunvalson, Teresa Giudice, and Kyle Richards are some of his favourites.

But Andy is fighting back. He claims that Leah is trying to “force an unjustified settlement”.

Leah went on to claim that Bravo are “run by people who create a dangerous work environment, encourage substance abuse to artificially create drama and cynically prey on the vulnerabilities of their employees.”

Leah used the episode “Scary Island” as an example in her lawsuit and claimed that the producers wanted her as a “potential successor” to Kelly Bensimon.

Well, Kelly didn’t appreciate the comparison.

She thinks that Leah implies that she was “under the influence of drugs or going through a mental ill-health episode.”

That she and Leah were exploited by Bravo. But she doesn’t feel like that.

“I’m not a victim. I’m nobody’s victim.”

And honestly? I actually regret ever being a fan of Leah as a housewife.

She has caused nothing but trouble and negativity, and I’m tired of her complaints.

Is the younger generation of housewives joining the show to be celebrities? It doesn’t seem like they’re following the rules or playing the game right.

Monica Garcia said in a leaked audio that she wouldn’t reduce herself to Bravo, she wants to be the next Kim Kardashian.

Kenya Moore claimed that Bravo allows just about anybody to become a housewife now, it’s not an appreciated achievement anymore.

And all Leah has done since RHONY got cancelled is pointing fingers and blaming others for her own failures. I’m so done with her.
