yes, i mentioned i don’t believe mushroom’s accounts on aegon being a rapist, a pedo or enjoying children’s fights, since mushroom was known to embellish his stories about both factions with sexual tones that often included little girls (ew) and i don’t consider the show’s portrayal of it as valid, since it doesn’t fit aegon’s character and actual portrayal on screen.

the show fails on aegon’s portrayal in two things: his relationship with his family, and his portrayal as a coward or someone who runs from conflict.

of course, we don’t have any povs of him in fire and blood, but we do know he had a better relationship with helaena (caring for her counsel and wellbeing, sleeping in the same rooms before b&c), cared a lot for his brothers (and he was reciprocated with unmatched loyalty), and had high regard for alicent both as his mother and advisor. he didn’t in any way subject them to abuse, like they portrayed with aemond and implied with helaena.

then, aegon is a very hands on character. he is the type to run to danger, not from danger. instead of trying to run away from being crowned, he gave his arguments against taking the crown and took it as a burden for his family. he always fights his battles, and it’s resilient to a fault. yes, that makes him impulsive and often short-sighted, but that’s what makes him compelling. i don’t know if you read the books dear anon, but just so i don’t include spoilers i’ll say: aegon would rather face a dragon to protect his family than have his family protect him from it.

I had thoughts about Aleksi and Olli and unfulfilled love today. What if Aleksi notices how serious his crush on Olli has gotten and suddenly he's scared, frightned even. Olli loves him back strongly, but in a platonic way. Aleksi starts spending more time with his girlfriend, they do the same things they did at the beginning of the relationship, the things that the busy life with the band (and Olli) took away. After a while Aleksi hastily proposes to his girlfriend, who happily says yes - she was already tired of the relationship not going anywhere. The wedding is wonderful, but looking at the beautiful couple, Olli feels an indescribable longing.. It's like he had something important in hands but now it's gone, left only a strange feeling and secret, silent question: what if it didn't turn out this way?

Ohhhhhhh noooooo the unrequited love was already killing me, but the ending absolutely destroyed me?? 😭😭😭😭😭 in some twisted way I loooooooove this trope and I have thought of something similar myself every now and then: one of them having the crush of a century, but once they figure it's one-sided they take desparate measures to get over it and move on and they think they maybe will one day learn to be happy in this relationship they're maybe not actually 100% in, and THEN on the day of the weddingor shortly after it) the other one comes to them confessing their love to them, knowing it's not right or fair for them to do it, but they have to let the other know...

Speaking of which, I have a couple of questions for you, anon: does Aleksi know for sure that Olli liked him platonically, or did he just come to that conclusion himself? Like, did they ever have that conversation? Does Olli know Aleksi has/had feelings for him? What will Olli do about this 'longing'? Will he suffer in silence or..? 🥺😭

Rhaenyra’s council don’t trust her and undermine her but still want her to be Queen? I swear this makes no sense to me. Surely the King’s command ends the moment he is dead like Alicent said. Instead of the writers constantly making the councils on both sides just go off on what Viserys said they should have given them personalities and chosen to have Rhaenyra or Aegon as the monarch for their own personal gain

look and i would kinda be cool with it if they made it pretty clear that the black council is there because they found rhaenyra’s cause to be more advantageous to their interests. reluctant allies exist, westeros is full of them, see robert marrying cersei when he can barely stand the lannisters. the tyrells are also a very good example of ally, they pledge their support in exchange for proximity to power or for vengeance. we have clear motivation and everyone understands it.

but they don’t want to make it that way. it’s all ‘oh, our rightful queen!’ trying to ride on daenerys�� kind of divine right. and it’s so disrespectful. are we supposed to believe that a lord would watch his castle be raided, his people killed, his counsel unheard and then the tyrant he calls queen slaps him on the face and threatens him? and that he wouldn’t hate this woman’s guts even a little? i would be rowing in a boat to king’s landing and kneel to the greens at this point.

we kinda know why team greens are team green, they have different motivations, they want different things and that is to be expected in the game of thrones. but all rhaenyra has to offer are the words of her daddyyy and fits to throw around. of course her council is filled to the brim with npcs that are only there to either complain to her so she can roll her eyes or praise her so that the audience remembers how khaleesi she is.

Alicent groomed both Aegon and Helaena to marry young despite not loving each other and he impregnated her at the age of 12.

Aegon and Helaena are the victims of sexual coercion and the abuser is Alicent.

i disagree with this statement. any influence alicent had in the match was by the influence she held over viserys, the true power in the family. what she says in the scene of her rejecting the match with jacaerys is basically ‘i don’t want this, and if you proceed i will complain until your ears fall’, the same way cersei did to robert. it’s not a ‘i don’t approve this, therefore it can’t happen’, because viserys can easily overrule alicent at any time, but he backed off since he likes to pretend everything is fine.

viserys was the one to marry them, by the customs of his house, it’s said that in the books he arranged the match. he is the one with the last word in any marriage alliance of his children, because he’s the father, the ‘owner’ of his children. he’s the ‘owner’ of alicent too, so don’t pretend alicent could break or make alliances without his permission.

i believe viserys married aegon and helaena to cripple the ability of the targtowers to make marriage alliances. the match was made when they were so young because he doesn’t want great houses being tied to them in a way that could do a disservice to rhaenyra. that’s also why aemond isn’t married or intended yet, until viserys died and he arranged a match for himself. the fact that he doesn’t see anything wrong with little girls giving birth probably helps too.

and if you talk about love, no one in westeros marries for love. everything is a political issue combined with grooming (daemon and rhaenyra? baela and jacaerys? it’s all grooming). do you think that if helaena married jacaerys, everything would be sunshine and rainbows? maybe, with a lot of grooming. and danger to helaena, since she would become rhaenyra and daemon’s prisoner in dragonstone.

helaena was always to be married off, but in a world of horrible outcomes, she at least stayed close to her home, her family, and aegon doesn’t constantly seek her out for heirs or pleasure. she didn’t become a political hostage, she didn’t die in childbirth. aegon does love her, as a sister and not a wife, and in that world, advocating for that match was alicent’s shot at making helaena’s life a little better than most noble women.

so as always, the blame lies with viserys lol

In episode 7, Aemond and Aegon say it's Alicent who betrothed Helaena to Aegon and is mushing for the marriage. Alicent is a groomer.

Viserys has no power over Alicent. She rejected his command on Jace/Helaena match in front of the whole council and attacked his daughter and heir.

Alicent is guilty. She abused her children.

lmao. no one, i repeat, no one, can overrule the king. alicent is talking big, yes, but that’s all she can do. and believe me, if alicent was ‘attacking’ rhaenyra, rhaenyra would be the first one to say something about it. viserys can literally shut her up, lock her in her rooms and no amount of crying, screaming or bargaining can stop him if he really wanted to marry jace to helaena. ‘the king’s word is law’, like team black loves to say.

it wouldn’t be unheard of that unruly wives are sent away or disposed of, if they try to order their husbands around. alicent literally acknowledges this. ‘you may do as you wish husband, when i am COLD in my GRAVE’. she’s risking death and she knows this. yet she protects her daughter.

It’s annoying that they got rid of Maelor but idk why so many fans still want him to be part of the story. They are convinced that Helaena is either pregnant now or Aemond will impregnate her. Firstly I don’t think Helaemond is going to happen. It’s pretty apparent that Helaena disagrees with what Aemond’s done to be regent and secondly I think it’s even more tragic if they make Helaena have another baby just to kill it off next season

my main annoyance with maelor’s omission is that the next choice for bitterbridge is obviously jaehaera, which simply doesn’t work because jaehaera needs to be alive to marry aegon iii and conclude the dance in a thematically meaningful note (ignore what comes after). if they delete bitterbrigde instead, the whole succession of events that end up with the storming of the dragonpit and rhaenyra’s death, two of the most important events of the dance, is over. it’s a no-win situation and completely preventable from a writing standpoint.

with grrm’s writing, you can’t omit any character. you don’t know which hedge knight or steward’s daughter will be a key character to a significant plot point, so even the omission of a baby that will only be there for two seasons and nothing more, is important because of the ramifications of what happens when he’s not there anymore.

i don’t think they can get out of this one. if maelor was aemond’s child, the moment to show it was before b&c, when the bastardy issue was an actual issue. if they want to make helaemond consensual, then they have to jump through a lot of hoops, if it’s nonconsensual, fuck everything. good luck butchering one of the show’s most popular characters, let’s see how the audience will react.
