Now, when I was a girl, things aren’t like they are now. The whole situation wasn’t the same, you could say. Yes, we had aliens, and boy were they a shock, and then there was the whole magic thing that went on the rise, but really, it was just sort of a slow build of increasingly ridiculous things. People coming out with this or that for attention, you could say.
Honestly, the alien thing took the longest to catch even when it came first.
But, what I’m saying is that the system we use these days wasn’t really a thing back when I was a girl. No, I remember the whole evolution of normal every day heroes rescuing puppies without any skills to girls holding up burning buildings to help firefighters, to fellows fighting off alien invasions. You know, the normal hero to Superhero progression. If such a thing could even be called that. Similarly, I can remember the not so inverse of that, where criminals went from thieves in banks, to villains trying to blow up city blocks, to Supervillains trying to kill off anyone who refused to divest themselves down below a billion dollars in the world.
Well, that was only one man, really, a charismatic and frankly handsome boy I knew as a child who remained too old for me for the entirety of his life. Not that he would have had any chance to survive to the modern day given how long ago it was and how everyone who didn’t want to share their money came down on him like a house collapse.
It was a real shame, honestly, because his legacy was breathtaking and I think he would have wanted to see it, if he could have. Probably to set the whole thing on fire, if I’m being entirely honest, he wasn’t into capitalism, was that once-friend of mine, but he still would have been at least impressed by how far everyone had come.
You see, because the very first Supervillian had a proper cause, the desire to level the financial playing field and generally benefit the world, the ones who came after had to either be very bad or very good and they were all treated equally under the law.
They were not treated equally by the public.
No, both Superheroes and Supervillains had a certain weight to them in the public eye, and both sides of that line were equally profitable. Admittedly, Supervillains had to source their materials though second hand suppliers and their everything tended to be more expensive because of it, but just like Superheroes had sponsors and fans, so did a lot of Supervillains. Even the really awful ones who everyone agreed really needed to be arrested.
Others though? Eh, others just wanted this or that cause and would lay low for years between them, if their goals got met. Today’s villain was one of those, actually, and I was somewhat relieved to see her out and about, actually. I remembered when this one got started, if you want the truth. I finally had made my way into a late teen appearance and had finally felt I could marry and have some children without it being horrifyingly squicky, you could say.
The downside of a natural talent that worked like the fountain of youth, I suppose. It utterly ruined my aging and I’d looked like a small child for a ridiculous part of the last century.
But! I had a teenage daughter now! She was even one of the Superheroes on the field right these days. Mind you, the only reason she was out here was because I could give her supervision. I, much like the handful of others with abilities like mine, was a good inclusion to any teen team. I had the aesthetic of the children, but the maturity and experience of a grown ass adult who could keep any of them from getting killed. It was a win to everyone in the know, honestly. I was exactly on such a team last time I met this villain, actually, and I could see that she recognized me at the start of the fight.
It was flattering.
Of course, none of that stopped the disaster from kicking off toward the end of the fight. Well, what I made the end of the fight anyway when one of the girls, my youngest’s best friend, ended up giving a mortified ‘mom, please!’ to stop her teasing over one of her male teammates.
See, fights like this? They were publicity stunts and everyone knew it. So a slip like that? That could lose the girl her mother if anyone actually knew, and while the children panicked, coming to a mortified halt as dawning horror over what had just been said spread, I went on the move.
Knowing who was behind the mask on the other side meant that I had a vested interest in keeping the girl out of jail. Our children were sweet, very cute in fact, and the parents of my daughter’s friend were awkwardly and hilariously in love. I wasn’t going to let anything happen to them just because money and a conscience had them pulling the villain card instead of the hero one.
It was more profitable, if not legal the way government sponsored heroes were. Which is why I ended up throwing jammers up to break the signal and contacted my people on the ground to wipe the footage before it hit the internet. Then I went after the cameraman nearby. They knew what was going on, thankfully, and gave it up without a fight, but, well.
That charming fellow when I was stuck as a ten year old little girl? The one who decided the rich needed to be handled? I’d shown that boy that meme. I’d shown him the posts and the half serious and half humorous discourse over the concept. And he’d shown me all kinds of things technology could do. Sure, it might have been well over a century since those days, but I was a spry girl, barely looking seventeen even now, and I’d grown with the times. And that meant I was going to save a silly group of children from the consequences of their actions. Supervillain didn’t mean bad, but I liked to make sure that in my general vicinity that Superhero meant good. Even if it might, maybe, mean a bit of a city brown out, the loss of footage, and a little bit of censorship. Later that evening, I invited the girls, both the mother villainess and my daughter’s friend, over for dinner, nothing complicated, but there was pie, and that was really all that mattered when it came down to it. A treat to ward off the scare while I kept an eye on the media. Of course, I also used the visit to try to teach the young woman how not to get caught in the future, but that was just good sense. Someone had to.
The teen superhero accidentally just called the supervillain “Mom”.

12, 18, and 29 for the fic ask!
12. Do you have a playlist for your current WIPs?
not really...... I talked before about how the song dead girl in the pool by girl in red is kind of my song for IMBI but I don't have a whole playlist set up for it. It's not something I do very often (I'm boring sorry lol).
For Corrupted Upgrade I was initially toying with using lyrics from Viva Las Vengeance by Panic! At the Disco for the title. I ended up not doing that obviously but still
Hacking at my feed, act like you are me No one really cares (really cares) Nothing's really real, no one really feels Nothing to declare (to declare)
I don't wanna be anonymous But, I don't wanna be you In a city full of promises Nothing rings true
I think it fits lol
18. What’s one of your favorite lines you’ve written in a fic?
MMMM... this is cheating a little because it's not one line but this bit from Tapping Out:
“Yep, that thing,” says Leo, his voice far too cheery. “Don’t worry, Angelo, I’ll take care of it. Give us ten minutes.”
Donnie doesn’t want ten minutes. He wants ten years and then some. A moment of peace for every one stolen from him by the krang.
He picks up another wrench and flings it. There’s a crash as it knocks something over.
“Twenty minutes,” Leo amends, and then he’s opening the door.
29. Share a bit from a fic you’ll never post OR from a scene that was cut from an already posted fic.
I initially had a completely different fight scene written for the final confrontation in Corrupted Upgrade but I ended up cutting it and rewriting it from scratch because I didn't like it very much - I kept some of the dialogue but that's it. Here's a bit of it (under the cut):
Donnie had the audacity to pout, lowering just slightly on his robot arms. “Well you’re no fun.”
“I’m serious, Dee.” Leo straightened up, lowering his sword. This wasn’t working - it was time for a different approach. “No more tricks. You stick with your tech-bo and I won’t open any more portals. Mano a mano. How’s that sound?”
“It sounds like you’re the one playing a trick-”
“Ninja honor here. I open a portal, you send the big robot after me.” He grinned, giving Donnie a one-armed shrug. “You have all the power here, Lord Othello von Ryan. What do you say?”
Donnie’s eyebrow quirked behind his visor, but after a moment’s contemplation he lowered himself to the ground, planting his feet and retracting the arms of his battleshell.
“Fine.” He smirked. “It’s been awhile since I’ve kicked your tail with just my tech-bo.”
“Uh, you have never beaten me, just for the record.” Leo grinned back, raising the odachi again. “And you won’t this time either.”
They quickly fell into a rhythm Leo was familiar with - Donnie with his quick, dancing hits and Leo with bigger, heavier strikes with his sword. With the bo, the goal was to use the opponent’s weight against them, and Leo, with his two-handed sword, had a lot of weight to throw around. He knew how to watch for that, though.
His goal now, up close, wasn’t to win, anyway. It was to finally break through to his stupid brother so they could go home already.
“Okay, so like I was saying, we’re both hooked up to a machine that has us trapped in a virtual reality-”
“You’re still going on about that?” Donnie rolled his staff around his neck, and Leo just barely ducked the swipe. “You know I don’t believe you.”
“You have to believe me, because if you don’t then we’re going to be stuck here until we die of dehydration, or electrocution, or… bed sores or something!”
“Hah! As if the Purple Dragons could have programmed an actual functioning virtual reality without my help!”
“They probably stole some experimental code or something. If you’d just stop being so stubborn then you could look at it all you wanted!”
“I already know that it’s fake so what’s the point! Now!” He swung his bo at Leo’s chest, and he just barely managed to block. “Are you going to fight back or are you just going to dodge all day?”
“I don’t want to hurt you-”
“Hah! If this is a virtual reality then why would we even feel pain?”
“Because it’s a really mean virtual reality that’s hooked to our nervous system!”
“That would be highly experimental and incredibly dangerous!”
“I know that which is why I would really like to get out now- Gah!”
Donnie got in a hit on his arm, and it hurt; even with a normal bo staff it would have, but the titanium in his weapon was serious business.
Donnie took the opening to his advantage: he started to pummel Leo on both sides, and despite his best efforts to block he started getting smacked around. In the arms, in the legs, in the plastron. Donnie wasn’t letting up, and Leo realized that he was out for blood in a way he never had been during training.
He wasn’t listening. He was still trying to hurt him.
Thanks for the ask!

Prelude: How the possession in my idea list works
I have noticed that a lot of people are a bit confused on how the possession here works, so I wanted to clarify it with this little addendum of sorts. My version would have Vanessa initally black out occasionally for the first month or so after her initial possession. They would happen more specifically when she has her therapy visits. This is also where GlitchTrap/Afton attempts to rewrite her childhood memories to include an abusive father figure (presumably like him) to try and make her more obedient.
This is contrary to Vanessa's actual childhood, which was fairly standard and had 2 normal loving parents. It should be noted that in this universe they died in a car crash the year before the events of Help Wanted. All the therapists would play along as a way to diagnose her (or something idk) before eventually telling her that her memories don't line up with what her patient report sheet (or whatever they use) says about her childhood.
This gets rid of all the work Glitchtrap puts in and Vanessa original memories come back the overwhelming shock of which causes her to freeze up, and during this time she blacks out and Glitchtrap takes control of her and kills the therapist. He would then get her back to her apartment where she would regain consciousness and be none the wiser to her therapists fate. Controlling Vanessa directly takes a lot of energy from Glitchtrap and tires him out since he isn't intended to "control" humans just be manipulative. This is why he can't take direct control of Vanessa and has to resort to attempting to mentally gaslight her.
This happens 5 times before Glitchtrap says "screw this" and decides to create Vanny. He doesn't really want to do this, as he will be creating a different persona. This persona will be "programmed" to be subservient to him. However there is always a risk that since they are effectively their own person, this seperate personality can decide to not listen to the instructions correctly or do them their own way. They can also have their own goals that conflict with Glitchtraps. Glitchtrap doesn't see any other way however and is getting impatient and wants to start being evil again quickly. So he creates Vanny out of his own agony power thing and some of Vanessa's emotions. He uses ones that are still hurting from her parents death, duplicates and then corrupts them beyond all recognition.
Vanny is "made" (for lack of a better word) to control things directly, unlike glitchtrap. As such, the experience is now completely different. At her last therapist visit, Vanessa is forced to watch herself kill someone for the first time, starting off the worst 6 months of her life.
I hope that cleared up some confusion. If it didn't, let me know in the comments below!

This isn't an idea, but something I wrote to better explain how Vanessa's possession works in my outlines

Also any references to courts in Vanessa's tapes are replaced with lines that imply Vanessa was the one who told th therapist about her "abusive" childhood.)
This gets rid of all the work Glitchtrap puts in and Vanessa original memories come back the overwhelming shock of which causes her to freeze up, and during this time she blacks out and Glitchtrap takes control of her and kills the therapist. Gonna just hope they won't come back
Also how did the police react to the death of therapist?

Heyy, thanks! Not sure how long I'll be back for but I'll leave it open for today and see how well i can handle this, testing the waters of my mental state since things seem stable enough
Anyways, this actually explains quite a but lol, and I'd say it is a concept i quite enjoy

Ahh! That does clear up some confusion, thank you!
That is very interesting, I like it! Ah, So Vanny is and isn’t Vanessa here
I actually love how Malhare isn’t intended to control things and that actually possessing someone tires him out!
And Hurray more trauma for Vanessa! :)

GUESS WHOS BACK!?
It me, bot boi. I have returned with several new ideas that I would like to share you!
This first one isn't really an idea, but more of an explanation.

It should be noted that in this universe they died in a car crash the year before the events of Help Wanted. All the therapists would play along as a way to diagnose her (or something idk) before eventually telling her that her memories don't line up with what her patient report sheet (or whatever they use) says about her childhood. (In this universe, patient 46 doesn't exist and the lines in their tapes about them misreporting their childhood experiences are moved into Vanessa's tapes. Also any references to courts in Vanessa's tapes are replaced with lines that imply Vanessa was the one who told the therapists about her "abusive" childhood.)
They can also have their own goals that conflict with Glitchtrap's (something that you see in idea 6). He doesn't see any other way however, and is getting impatient and wants to start being evil again quickly.
First of all, sorry I took so long to answer. I tend to get busy around this time of year.
Second of all, this makes total sense, and thanks for clearing this up. My brain sometimes struggles to connect the dots so this really helps clear up a lot.

Sup, this isn't really an idea, but more of an explanation of how the possession worked in my idea list. I thought you might be interested in reading it!
Prelude: How the possession in my outlines worked
I have noticed that a lot of people are a bit confused on how the possession here works, so I wanted to clarify it with this little addendum of sorts. My version would have Vanessa initally black out occasionally for the first month or so after her initial possession. They would happen more specifically when she has her therapy visits. This is also where GlitchTrap/Afton attempts to rewrite her childhood memories to include an abusive father figure (presumably like him) to try and make her more obedient.

OOOOO that's interesting, glitchtrap I would love to stab u.
So Vanessa would have 'black outs', was she aware these blackouts were happening? Or were her memories on of before the appointment, leaving no memory of the therapist.
If she did, I wonder If she would get it checked or if she considered it a problem far too late.
If Vanny were created from Vanessa's emotions stemming from the death of her parents then it would mean; grief, longing, sadness, and anger is comming to play. When twisting those emotions I guess you get someone who is Possesive and Violent.
Vanny got some twisted morals since those are not only just regular emotions but very strong ones aswell if the accident was recent. If it wasn't then the 'black outs' glitchtrap has been causeing would definitly add some uneeded stress to her, when you are stress you are emotional so you could think of the stress factor as a multiplier!
Every Virus has a firewall, could Vanessa potentionally atleast resist Vanny's hold for a few seconds? Or even stall her movements through sheer will? Or would it be that she is completely helpless and all that she could do is watch her body move at someone elses command?

Huh. A bit of an interesting situation we have here. Quite a bit here was changed in order to shift the order of things around, especially regarding Patient 46's uncertain existence. Granted, I believe she's real and is a separate entity from Vanessa, but here, enough was changed to make the possibility of Vanessa/Vanny being the same person all the more real...or, well, not really real, on account Vanny was a last resort since even Glitch knew doing so would lead to him making an...unstable subordinate. Which he did, if only because having to forcibly take over Vanessa every time his brainwashing was undone was proving too counterproductive for what he wanted.
But alas, keywords here, Glitchy just wanted a more obedient daughter in this case. Definitely helped she was both blonde, and had green eyes like Lizzie...I think.

Glitchtrap is really the true definition of evil
Tumblr media
Vanessa didn't deserve any of that :( especially following up on her parents dying in a car crash, she couldnt even remember it until later on and then she has to deal with someones life on her conscience. Get this girl some REAL therapy.

yayayaya ooohh this is very helpful! more backstory aswell heheh >:)
well first off, what a power move to insert memories of an abusive father based on yourself. least he’s honest!
afton just getting rid of the therapist makes sense, the logical side of me (there isn’t much) thinks that if i were having frequent black outs and memory loss i would see a doctor, but who would want to take care of a patient, whom the last time they saw a professional, ended up being the last patient they would ever see before dying of mysterious causes
or
just a mysterious murder
and i still love the idea of vanny being made from vanessa’s negative emotions, her anger and irritability, just generally the emotions you’d rather not feel. i believe i’ve said this before (and if not then oops) but vanny technically being made from vanessa would make not blaming herself wAYYY more difficult! no she didn’t directly directly cause it, but possibly knowing her negative feelings were used to create her worst nightmare has gotta be difficult.
