Pirate Hunter Roronoa Zoro.

A demon’s grin shining across his teeth.

Greedy hands grasping more swords they can take.

His legs squatted to resemble a god of war’s stance.

Monster.

It is common, for him to hear that word thrown at him.

After all, who is a monster, if not a being who reaches for all?

Never settling, always consuming. Scarred hands scrabble at the wall in front of him, tightly gripping till they bleed, unstoppable for his thirst.

He is a man of indulgence.

Drowning himself in sake, gorging on rice… that is not what a man does.

That is not what a human does.

Zoro’s need for more, his gluttonous desire to become the best swordsman in the world, is not normal, for a human.

It is why his victims, the bartenders, and the Marines, call him a monster.

Yet, you think different.

You, with your dumb little brain, think he’s a human.

Even when his blades glint in the light, eyes swimming with delirium, you don’t think less of him.

Stupid little brat he got attached to.

When the battle finishes, he hides what shines, drains that pool.

He tries, so you don’t become scared of him.

You won’t- Zoro knows you likely won’t- but he’s a starving man.

He wants few things, yet craves to have them.

One, is a title out of reach.

Another, is a person right in his hands.

A greedy man, yet for little.

Maybe his lack of abundance for his desires makes up for the hunger he feels in his gut.

So to fill that hunger, he always does what is more than necessary.

Cutting down more pirates than necessary, treating you with more gentleness than necessary.

He wants to have what is out of reach, and when he’s finally able to obtain it, he wants to keep it, for the rest of his life.

Hell, even when he dies, maybe his greed will be unpassable.

The thought makes him chuckle.

“Hey,” Zoro calls your name. “Finished fighting those punks.”

Hearing him, your tiny head comes peeking out from your knees, too-big eyes staring at the man before you.

“Okay.” A quiet whisper, too much of a contrast from your caretaker’s loud presence, comes from you as you stand.

This time, you do not ask him to carry you. Your hands, so small and fragile, do not come up in a silent demand for the bigger and stronger man to hold you against him.

The pirate hunter can’t blame you for that.

The scent of peoples’ natural paint, thick and metallic, definitely brushes against your nose; it’s already a surprise you’re not backing away from him, so for you to ask to be carried would be a miracle.

Zoro’s not one to rely on miracles, so he starts to walk away, indicating with a cock of his head- “C’mon. Let’s go.”

And you follow.

Much like how you first met him, you follow him like the pest you are, making sure that you’re right behind him.

“Mr. Zoro?” As you speak, Zoro has to strain his hearing. “Next time we stop by a town, can we get snacks?”

“Sure.”

Being gentle is a concept that’s foreign to him.

Sure, he’s been nice; helping the occasional old lady carry her stuff, tipping a waiter, or helping a kid recover from a fever are all things he’s done before, but to do it for an extended amount of time?

He has to pick up the old book, continuously flipping through the water-logged and bookworm-eaten pages in order to remember the old concepts of it; even then, it’s a short book.

But he tries.

For the brat he’s grown attached to, the Pirate Hunter tries.

Hides his sharp edges as best he can from you, the things barely peeking through him- the occasional loud yell, sharp glare, or tight hold… too big, too dangerous to be kept completely hidden.

Too much to keep hidden, all at once.

You don’t seem to mind, though.

You never seem to mind, when Zoro bares his fangs at you.

To the snapping jaw of the lion, you are nothing but a laughing baby.

6. which ship fans are the most annoying?

For iwtv I think it’s lesmand because I feel like people put way too much importance on their relationship and it kind of irks me. Like sometimes people will say “well they’re the most important ship/ the most consistent/ the most interesting/ the best ship in the books/ the most whatever whatever” and I’ve even seen people say that Lestat and Armand love each other more than any one else in the books, (Armand does say that but I don’t really fully believe him). But then I read the books and I just do not get the same vibe. Maybe it’s because I paused on TOTBT and I just need to read more but so far Armand’s love for Lestat doesn’t read as genuine love. It reads like an obsession (because it is) that Lestat seems uncomfortable with and even scared of to a certain extent (because he is) and having to read some of the things Armand did to Lestat, I DONT BLAME HIM. So I don’t really get when people hype it up as this epic enemies to lovers thing that’s the best ship in the books. Again maybe I have to read past TOTBT but so far I’m like…mm. I don’t hate lesmand and I’m even curious about how they’re gonna go about it in the show. The only ship I do genuinely hate is Armand/Marius because of the obvious but yeah.

I would’ve said Armand/Marius shippers because the ones that I’ve seen.,..jfc. But there aren’t that many for me to be annoyed by them.

I hate mlm ships where people only ship them because they fight a lot and hate each other. Atleast with something like lesmand, their actually is some romantic stuff going between them but Zoro and Sanji just….don’t. The most they have is respect for each other as fighters and they do genuinely care for one another because they’re on the same crew but outside of that it’s like…nothing. Nothing to work with and nothing to build upon. Also Sanji is aggressively, annoyingly heterosexual and I want him to remain that way. I don’t want that perverted transphobic, homophobic bitch of a man to be queer and I think that’s the main thing that frustrates me about that ship. Sanji is the same character who was about to die of blood loss and freaked out when two gay men donated blood to him and people think that he’s gay??? Okay .
