okay so after seeing all of the first three episodes again last night with friends and falling even more in love with the cast than before, i finally got around to episode 4 today. some thoughts:
i can't gush enough about the set design, it's all absolutely gorgeous. i was completely in love with the little clearing where young zoro and kuina have their match, just seeing the sunlight filtering through the trees...it really gives off that kind of nostalgic, romantic feeling that you get when you think back to a simpler time in your life. and of course, kaya's mansion is gorgeous! it doesn't look like yet another generic rich person mansion. it has character! i loved all the wall art in their dining room, i like the orderly yet cozy cluttered feeling of the kitchen, i love how it all feels lived in, like it has a history
talking more about the technical aspects, i love the costume design too! i like the slightly too clean look of the marine uniforms - it brings notice to the fact that these are new cadets who don't have much fighting history. i like that both nami and sham get to wear practical clothes! no stupid high heels for nami! no short shorts!
i didn't mention this last time, but i LOVE jacob's version of usopp. it's crazy that they managed to find a guy who can do usopp's over the top facial expressions in real life. they really lucked out with this entire main cast, i can't imagine literally anyone else playing our beloved straw hats. i hope we can see at least one more season, and i hope i adore robin and chopper just as much as i love these the east blue crew
as sad as it is, i'm glad that it seems like merry really is dead. i like this more brutal direction for the live action, because it feels like there are actual consequences for them, and i like that you can't take for granted that just because someone survived in the manga/anime, it means they'll survive in the live action too
the child actors are a little stiff, but i think they're really doing a good job given how young they are! young zoro's actor was definitely doing a better job that kojiro's. he sold his grief over kuina's death very well
speaking of koshiro, i still fuckin hate that dude. he did kuina so dirty with his sexism, convincing her she had no future as a swordswoman, making her believe that she could never stand up to men.
i think having koby and helmeppo show up at kaya's mansion and inevitably get duped by kuro was a good choice. it lets koby get a little more experience in a leadership position, and more than that, it helps establish usopp's distrust of the marines. from the beginning he was always interested in the romantic view he had of pirates because of his dad, but seeing that the marines failed him, even after they said they would help him, and that they didn't believe him no matter how much he begged them to, it helps establish a reason for him to go along with the pirates when they invite him to. the marines didn't do shit to protect kaya, but luffy and his friends did everything they could. they loved kaya, maybe not as much as usopp, but they wanted her to be safe.
side note, it's kind of hilarious to think about helmeppo trying to kill luffy, and then going back to the ship and finding out that he's garp's grandson 💀💀
when we are! started playing in the background as the going merry set sail for the first time with her crew...i cried, i'm not ashamed to admit it. gosh, i missed her, and i miss the first opening. it's so nice to see her get to go on more adventures with her crew in this new medium! i know some people were unhappy with her figurehead, but i just adore it, it suits her crew well
luffy's little shit-eating grin when kaya just gives them merry for free, and nami being just SO exasperated because he's gonna be so insufferable now, it made me laugh so hard! i love these idiots
when usopp and luffy were arguing about which one of them was captain, and nami just burst out laughing? and then zoro started chuckling too? that was so healing! they've already had good chemistry so far, and they've shown loyalty, but it's so nice to finally see zoro and nami kind of starting to admit that they do like these people they've become friends with, and it's nice to see that they're coming around to how much they care about luffy
i was a little iffy about them doing the garp reveal at the end. my first instinct was to be really annoyed by it, but after thinking on it for a moment, it honestly does make sense. in the first place there wasn't really a plot reason to put off the reveal until post enies lobby anyways. and then you also have to take into account that it would be a huge success if we ever even get a second season, let alone reaching post enies lobby. so it's not ideal, but i'm not too upset at them about it. ALSO, seeing zoro, nami, and usopp's reaction to the news was fucking hilarious. i hope we get some good dynamics in the next episode! i want to see garp call luffy his idiot grandson. i want that funny family dysfunction.

In your reverse Strawhats AU, do you plan on writing each characters relationships and dinamics? You mentioned that Kaya will be Dr. Hirulik's apprentice, and of course Ace and Kuina's captain-firstmate relationship will be important. And I guess Kuina and Rejiu will be frienemy rivals like Zoro and Sanji
I’m so glad you asked.
And oh boy did this get away from me. I’m focusing on Ace’s relationship with the with the East Blue crew and will make separate post for everyone else because woo I wrote a lot.
Ace and Kuina
definitely have a captain-first-mate relationship. They both like to pretend they are well respecting and composed people. Ace learned manners and Kuina was raised to be an honorable swordswoman.
However leave the two of them alone together and they devolve into gremlins. (Ace did try to murder Whitebeard on multiple occasions, he’s feral. Kuina was a 100% down with stealing real swords to fight with Zoro as children)
When they first meet Ace hears about the Demon pirate hunter and goes to see who it is. When he sees Kuina tied to the cross, her interaction with the little girl, he knows she’s a good person and a part of him wants her on his crew. But he struggles with letting people in, but he’s learned from Luffy so maybe he’ll ask her.
The two of them talk and he asks her why she’s tied to a cross and what her dream is. “To become the world’s greatest swordsman.” She says with her head raised and her voice defiant. Waiting for the rebut or the laughter. Ace just tilts his head and responds with, “well that’s going to be hard.” “Why! Because I’m a girl!” “No because you’re tied to a pole! Stupid!” And the comment is so genuine and stupid that it snaps Kuina to. It’s the first time since Zoro that her dream hasnt been out right mocked.
Ace goes and retrieves Wado Ichimonji for her and after they defeat Axe hand Morgan. The two are set to leave the village when Ace finally ask. “Hey if you’re going to be the world greatest swordsman you should join my crew. After all i’m going to surpass the strongest man in the world and become an emperor of the sea. I’m going to need someone as strong as you.” And he’s ready for rejection but Kuina just smiles and agrees because ya this boy is crazy but so was Zoro. And it will be nice to have that manic energy in her corner again.
Kuina can calm Ace and point him back on the right path (or at least direct his firey temper in a constructive direction) when he starts to get a little two riled up. And Ace knows how to get Kuina to take a break from her constant training. The balance each other really well. With Ace keeping a more laid back fun aditude with the crew and Kuina being in the calm but serious energy need to be the right hand of a knucklehead.
But again send them off on their own and there is one to no brain cell between them.
Ace and Nojiko
They had a ruff start. Nojiko’s instant hate of all pirates and Ace’s belief that everyone wants him dead because of his connection to his father, doesn’t really lead to a great start. Nojiko is venting her anger at Arlong and Ace is internalizing it all as anger towards him specifically.
But Nojiko sees Ace and Kuina are different. They obviously care about one another and the other persons goals. They help the villagers, they are just good people. So when they go to leave orange island it s Kuina who asks if Nojiko knows how to get to the next island. (They need a navigator and she can’t tell if it’s pride or hurt but Ace isn’t asking a second time) Nojiko agrees to lead them to the next island and they have a ruff agreement.
Over the next couple of days she sees more of the other two interacting and hears Ace mention Luffy which leads to a “my younger sibling is better then yours debate.” Between the two. And it’s the first conversation the two have when Nojiko’s prejudice and Aces Trauma don’t get in the way.
When they make it to syrup and Nojiko sees how Ace interacts with Kaya she’s sold on this crew and this idiot captain being different, and in another world they could be her’s but not with Arlong in the picture.
After Arlong park is when Bojiko officially joins the crew. I can see her and Ace sitting at Nami’s grave. Nojiko telling him about everything that has happened, her hatred of pirates, her new desire to live her life and see the world and maybe complete Nami’s dream. And then she turns to look at him and apologizes because she knows some of the things she said about pirates hurt him (she doesn’t know why, but she knows it did) and that he and the others aren’t like Arlong and they never will be and that if he will have her, she would love to join his crew.
They sit there in silence for a moment. Nojiko’s request hanging in the air and she’s looking at him but he’s looking at the ground. And in such a quiet voice he asked her. “Do you want me to live?” And Nojiko is horrified by the question because she was mean but did he really take it as her wanting him to just drop dead. She responds without hesitation “of course I want you to live you stupid idiot!” Before she can say anything else he hugs and when he pulls back he’s all smiles like he didn’t just ask her if he should die and welcomes her to the crew.
The two have a great relationship after that. Nojiko tries to keep the crew serious when they need to be but she’s also 17 and it’s the first time in her life she can relax so she defiantly gets swept up in any games that Ace and Kaya are playing. She would do anything for her crew and though she is a weaker member she does start training with Ace, Kuina, and Reiju because she wants to be strong enough to protect her friends, and she also doesn’t want Kaya to feel like she’s the only weak link.
Ace and Kaya.
When they first meet Kaya is a weak rich girl and Ace is ready to write her off like all the rich people he’s met before. But she’s so kind. She’s soft spoken and shy but so kind.
I think they would met at the ship yard. Ace wants a real ship. Kuina agrees that the dingy is too small and though Nojiko hasn’t officially joined she can agree that the two boats is not the best way to travel. (Much closer to Usopp’s opla introduction then his anime introduction)
They meet Kaya at the ship yard while she’s walking the yard with Merry and Kuro. She hears them talking about needing a ship. As she listens to them she realizes they are pirates. Yet they don’t seem scary. Instead they seem funny, and they obviously care for one another. They remind her of Usopp’s stories.
Kuina’s the one who catches her ease dropping on them. She invites them into her home to talk about purchasing a ship.
At first Ace isn’t a fan. She’s a rich girl who’s talking to them because they are entertaining her right now. What happens when they stop being a thing of fascination? He’s got Sabo’s commentary of the celestial dragons in his ear. He doesn’t trust new people easy and rich people are not on his list of potential favorites. But Nojiko thinks she can con them a ship and it is free food.
Throughout the night they get to know Kaya better. She tells them about her parents who just died at sea and how lonely it’s been without them. If it wasn’t for Usopp and Kuro she would be all alone. And Ace is starting to feel for this young girl who is so much like his little brother. She’s not loud or confident or sunshine incarnate, but the way she talks about loneliness and the way she looks at the people she loves is so close to Luffy that he can’t help but be endeared to her.
And then Kuina recognizes Kuro and everything goes to shiz so fast. By the end Kaya is left shaken. The man her family trusted is a pirate who set out to kill them. She can’t stand to be in the house any more. Her parents are gone and their memories are tarnished by Kuro. But where does she go? What does she do now? She has enough money she could start new but where? With who? And she’s crying about this in front of Ace who listening to her talk about how there’s no one else. (There is Merry and Usopp but Usopp is to young to take care of her and Merry was hurt because of her) and he’s getting so many flash backs to Luffy that he just kinda blurts it out. “You can come with us.”
And now she’s stopped crying (thank god) but she’s looking at him with these big eyes. Because she’s not strong. She’s never been to sea. There are so many reason why she would be a bad fit for their crew. And Ace knows all of this but he asks one question. “Are you glad I’m here?” To which she responds with yes, she’s so glad he was here, he just saved her. “Do you want to stay with us?” It’s an offer it’s her choice. And this is hard for Ace. It’s hard to let people in, it will be even harder if she says no. But he tells her to think about it.
The next morning Kaya rolls up with a new boat. Some money for them, and her father’s old weapon (tbd pole here) and says she’s joining them.
From there on out Kaya is basically Ace’s little sister. She’s the little sister of the whole crew but I’ll talk about the others later. But Kaya is definitely the crews princess. She is their youngest and while she still has to carry her weight and she works very hard to build up her strength, the whole crew is weak to her. Ace is so excited to introduce her to Luffy and have both his little siblings being a terror on board.
Kaya finds out Ace was learning manners before he set sail and offered to teach him how to behave in a high class environment. In return Ace helps her loosen up. She’s been a rich girl all her life while Ace grew up in the jungle. He definitely showed her how to live it up in the wild (when they get to Skypia Kaya is so excited to swing from the vines and make the Tarzan cry just like Ace showed her)
Ace and Reiju
Reiju and Ace are different. In this AU Reiju is the oldest of the group at 19 to everyone else 17 and Kaya’s 14. So until Hirikul joins she’s the eldest. She’s used to being an eldest sister but Germa was so different than the rest of the world.
She’s spent so long separating herself from Germa 66. The Baratie was great. Zeff was everything she could have wished for in a dad. And being around all the cooks is so different the training at Germa. The only person she is remembering is Sanji and she doesn’t mind that.
(Side note I have three ideas for what happens to Sanji in this au one is wholesome and the other two are absolutely not. But I’m still figuring it out)
Her new crew being mostly women helps her remember she’s not at Germa. Even if her and Kuina butt heads.
But Ace. Every now and then she will see him in the corner of her eye and for a second she will think Sanji is with her. And it’s not just Sanji she sees in him. When he is being kind and protective she gets flashes of what Sanji could have been.
When he is fighting an enemy and he becomes cold and calculating boarderline cruel. She sees Ichiji.
She see Niji in him when he is angry. So mad he could just about spit fire.
It very rare for her to see Yonji in him but there are times when she sees just how far Ace is willing to go for the crew
But these are just heart stoping glimmers of her brothers. Then she remebers the fundamental difference. Anytime Ace behaves this way it is because someone has treated the crew. He is defending the people he loves. Ace is not cruel for the sake of it. In fact he’s one of the kindest men she knows (he’d be first place if not for Sanji and Zeff) any passing glimpses of her brothers is not who Ace is. Ace would never hurt them. He’d never let other hurt them. And this time she would keep her younger brother safe.
I think Reiju would have a problem other men. Her father and her brothers are monsters. And while Zeff and the cooks at the Baratie have shown her there are good men out there, they are the exception not the rule. It took a while for her to warm up to Ace when they met. But he won her over, his kindness to those around him and his willingness to protect Baratie definitely help. But there are still walls up and it will take time for her to fully trust him.
Which is fair because he has just as many walls. They care for each other and she willingly follows him but I don’t think she starts to trust him until after Arlong park. I don’t think she realizes she trusts him until she almost losses him in lougetown.
There relationship becomes very sweet. As they both start to heal a part of each other. Ace doesn’t understand why Reiju is so uncomfortable around strange men but he’s not going to allow anyone to hurt her. And she recognizes this and trust Ace’s intuition on which people they can trust and who they can’t.
But She can also see that Ace has his own issues. The whole crew can tell he has issues but again she sees Sanji in him. The heartbreaking desire to just have somewhere to belong. And somewhere along the path, probable in Drum kingdom after he hauls her and Nojiko up 5 miles of sheer cliff face, she sits down besides him. It’s just the two of them sitting in silence for a bit. And then with out looking at him she says “I’m glad you were born.” And she doesn’t know if that’s the right thing to say, if she’s reading too much into this. But it feels right.
And Ace just starts silently crying and leans into her as she wraps her arm around him and they sit there for a while content to just be captain and cook and not the son of the devil and the daughter of a monster.
Once Ace’s family history comes out she sits him down in the kitchen and kicks everyone else out and tells him about her family. How she understands the belief that you have devils blood in your veins and maybe the world would be better off with out you. But her world is better with him in it. And they get each other.
I’m going to cut myself off here. I’ll do Ace’s relationship with the grandline members of the crew in another post and maybe make a separate post for Kuina’s relationship with the crew, then Reiju’s and so on and so forth

"Uh.....um. I got uh, IGOTANINETYEIGHT!!" Oh god, that was so embarrassing to say out loud and to someone who got a lower score no less. Kill her now.
"Just take the score Roronoa! Please, I beg you. Let me have the 45! It's not my idea score of 10 or below but I'll take it!". She hates to ask like this but the whole thing was just too crazy to think a plain person like herself got a 98 on this thing.
shiigures
“we can change scores if you would like”.

Slowly raises an eyebrow .
“ Uh huh , what did you get ? ” He questioned , putting a hand on his hip and waiting quietly.

Okay, let’s talk about Wano. I'll try to organize the many thoughts I have in this post.
The latest chapter made one thing 100% certain: Zoro’s backstory is finally happening. And that’s a HUGE thing. We’re getting a backstory for arguably the second most important character in the series, whose entire backstory has only been consisting of 7 manga pages and very little information since 1997.
However, it doesn’t look like the backstory will be about Zoro specifically, as in about his birth or his biological family like with Sanji in WCI, but it seems it will revolve around Koushirou and Shimotsuki village.
And that’s good news for Tashigi. Because you just can’t think of Shimotsuki and Kuina without thinking of her. Tashigi is like a link to Zoro’s past that has been following him throughout the series. We haven’t seen Zoro directly remembering Koushirou since Alabasta, Kuina since chapter 5, but Tashigi has always been there, like a walking reminder of Kuina to Zoro into the New World.
(Of course Tashigi is so much more than a Kuina lookalike, to us and to Zoro alike, but I’m focusing on that single aspect right now because it’s what I think could tie into the Shimotsuki storyline.)
Let’s recap the elements of the Tashigi-Kuina connection:
Striking physical resemblance
Same birthplace (East Blue) [recently revealed by the Vivre Cards]
Same blood type (S) [same as above]
Both are swordswomen
Same ideas on being a swordswoman in a man’s world
Both are named after flightless aquatic birds
Both have names written in hiragana (names in OP are usually in katakana)
The “Japanese” theme of Shimotsuki and Tashigi’s hobbies/aesthetic
I really find it hard to believe all this is just a coincidence, despite what Oda said (while laughing suspiciously) in an interview 10 years ago. I think there’s a fair chance that as we find out more about Shimotsuki and its connection to Wano, we’ll find out more about Tashigi too, because she might be related to that story.
It’s totally Oda’s style to give backstories to secondary characters, both through SBS and by casually dropping hints in the manga (remember X-Drake’s past revealed through Law’s flashback?), yet we know absolutely nothing about Tashigi’s past, even though we’ve known her since chapter 96. Tashigi was notably absent from the Marine color spread made for Film Z. It could have been because she’s too young to have a “younger version”, but that spread has the younger versions of many Marines from different times, like it has Tsuru drawn the same age as Hina. Why is a younger Tashigi, maybe drawn at the age when she was a recruit, not there? Her past is a total mystery.
There’s also the fact that Tashigi is already tied to the Wano arc through Vegapunk: she’s currently with the only person who might be able to cure the people of Ebisu of the side effects of Caesar’s experiments and to fix Momonosuke’s faulty powers. Vegapunk is also the object of Orochi’s request to CP0. There’s also the matter of the giant kids that hasn’t been resolved yet. I think it’s a given that we’ll at least see her before this arc is over.
And then there’s Zoro. This is his arc. Are we really going to have an arc focused on Zoro coming to terms with revelations about his past without Tashigi? Without the person who not only might be related to the Shimotsuki stuff (see above), but is also the only one capable of letting Zoro’s most vulnerable self, the Kuina-related part of him, come out? Because of her interactions with Zoro, Tashigi is now more involved in Kuina’s story than any other character besides Koushirou, and she deserves to learn about it.
This is just wild speculation on my part, but I have the feeling the circumstances around Kuina’s death will be expanded, with “she fell down the stairs” becoming something more sinister that will serve as a trigger for Zoro’s development in this arc.
Anyway, If Oda is ever going to let Z&T’s relationship progress, with Tashigi explicitly recognizing Zoro as a good person worthy of his swords, and with Zoro telling her the full story about why he couldn’t cut her down, Wano is the right place for that. Because it’s where Zoro will face his past, and Tashigi has been connected to that past from day one. It’s a chance for them to develop both as individual characters and as a relationship.
I'm not worrying too much that Tashigi hasn’t shown up yet, because despite being almost 40 chapters in, Oda is surely taking his time with this arc and a lot of the confirmed major players in Wano haven’t appeared either (Kawamatsu, Nekomamushi, Denjiro, Killer, Apoo...). And it makes more sense that Vegapunk, and consequently Tashigi, will appear only now that the SMILE problem is coming to light. So yeah, even at this stage I'm still hopeful for Tashigi to have a relevant role in this arc, and I think the recent developments support my hopes.

One Piece OC Lydia Rae Morgan/Mihawk
Lydia Rae Morgan is an oc I created for the One Piece world, Birthday December 9th. She is a 22 year old woman, whose weapon of choice is a whip and two dual pistols with crosses on them. She has long black hair, and golden eyes, she has two types of haki. She is a enchanting pirate with an amazing voice and skills to match and she what I think dracule mihawks daughter would be. She can use a sword when pushed but would rather not. She has multiple goals. Hopefully this is one of  many stories/drabble I will write on her.
Do Not own One Piece or any of the original characters But I did Create the character Lydia and her backstory
Hope you enjoy~
My name is Lydia Rae Morgan, this my story up until now anyway. The reason I'm writing this down or telling anyone about this, about me, in the next few days I will be face to face with the worlds greatest swordsman. Dracule Mihawk, how I've longed for the day where I could meet my father, the man who has no clue of the life he created or the trouble he caused with it. He will though maybe after today, after I'm finally recognized as an equal maybe even as his daughter, its only rewarding if I beat him though. No more just waiting for him to take an interest in my bounty poster and come search for me. No more waiting for him to see if the woman in the poster with features strikingly close to his and amazing abilities is actually of any relation.  Let me start over my given name, not the one I go by is actually Lydia Rae Mihawk. Morgan was my mothers last name, it was one of the few things she left me with before she dropped me off at that orphanage in the east blue at age 8.  I don't have much memory of her since she was always working or at a distance. I do remember she had an amazing voice when she sung or when she talked. When she did talk to me she spoke of the my father and of her love turned to hate. I was a smart as a child, she didn't need to tell me that when she dropped me off December 9 on my eighth birthday that she wouldn't be coming back to get me. She said she was gonna drop me off to play with the other children and she'd be back later. A false hope I held on to as one of the ladies at the orphanage took my hand from my mothers. It was hard to make friends, a lot of the kids were scared of me because of my golden eyes. I did end up making a few, most were boys. After learning and chores we would all go outside to play and that's when I learned to fight and think fast. As I grew I remembered moms words about the weapon my father used a sword. My interest in that was brief my skills were above average but one of the instructors pointed out I could use some improvement and my style would always be sloppy and brutal as long as I carried my hate.  Hate was an awful word to use for that. I never met the man, I was sure he didn't know I alive. I couldn't blame him for that. I was bitter about the situation I found myself in. One time around the age of 13 I'd found myself thinking of mom and I begun to sing. I remembered the song, some of her features, smiling I opened my eyes and found a crowd of people in front of me. I had gained her singing abilities. I had found a way to make money to fund my journey. Also around that age I decided I'd go on adventure see the world, maybe one day meet my father if he was still alive. I was told never to mention his name around other people because he was dangerous and wasn't popular among others. I'd have to really trust someone with my life before I would reveal his name. At 15 I left the orphanage.  At sixteen I bought some supplies, a boat, my weapons a specialized whip and dual pistols. I practiced many times my accuracy and soon found I was better with those than with a sword. An when I was confident in my abilities I set sail. At first like I said it was adventure! It was thrilling and alittle lonely at times. While landing on islands I would restock, gather information, an train. My sassy attitude and my willingness stand up for others did get me into my fair share of fights. At age eighteen I saw my first picture of my father. I finally understood my mother stories of him alittle more. He was a strong and dangerous man. In that moment I grabbed the wanted poster as a keepsake and a reminder of what I was gonna aim for. I would become a pirate, one that'd stand out enough for him to notice me. I would prove myself to be a great pirate.  AN when the time came I'd face him a swordswoman and if not beat him, match him as an equal, prove myself worthy of being able to call myself his daughter. I sighed looking up at the night sky I knew my journey was only beginning. Dracule Mihawk the day when we meet will be a day neither of us will forget. For a few years in between docking I trained my mind, combat skills and my abilities to use weapons mainly focusing on my swordsmanship knowing at some point I'd fight him. At At twenty I unlocked two my haki abilities, which was quite a shock when my eyes turned red and I was twice the fighter I used to be. At twenty-one I gained my first bounty and was dead set on increasing it by taking down other pirates or unjust marines. I finally gained the information I needed. I set sail to my fathers island. It was now or never, my mom, the people at the orphanage, my instructors, all the people I'd beat, the people I'd met while sailing , the unlikely friends I'd made on my adventure, meeting the strawhat pirates, meeting Rorona Zoro. Zoro. The young handsome swordsman that earned my fathers respect and approval as a rival. The meeting wasn't exactly a friendly one at first but its not one I'll forget or regret.  If I survive this I think I'd like to see him again. As I step off of the boat on to my island I make my way to his castle. I'm shocked to see when the door opens a girl with pink hair and the man I was just thinking about covered in bandages. Zoro. My shock is not dulled when the man that's haunted my dreams for the last twenty-two years steps forward to enter the room. "Mihawk." I gasp. This was my father. His eyes show a brief flash of emotions, to fast to recoginze. Finally he speaks after a moment "What is your business here."  I draw a breath an answer " I would like to challenge you to a duel, in which the winner gets something of value from the loser, in the event of a draw both exchange something of value . "Would you accept my terms for a duel, Mr.Mihawk I have travelled a long way for a long time just to meet you." The girl with pink hair know as Perona floating close by just watched the exchange. Zoro finally spoke " Lydia you can't be serious you don't even fight with swords. What your asking for is crazy. " Not taking my eyes of Mihawk I feel I owe Zoro an answer. "You're right Zoro. Swords aren't orignally my weapon of choice in a battle. But I can fight with them well enough. I did have a purpose in coming this way. An I feel the only way to address the reason is by dueling him. If he will allow it.  "  Zoro confused said no more. After that the room filled with a painful agonizing silence.  "Alright, Ms. Lydia I'll accept your terms for the duel. We will duel outside in just a moment. let me gather my sword." I began walking to the location Zoro right behind me. I began stretching and undoing my dual pistol with the crosses and my whip. leaving me only  with my swords. Perona with a medical kit in hand and mihawk with his sword approached.  As soon as he nodded I  activated my haki an unsheathed my sword. Our swords clashed again an again I managed to dodge his blows, as he dodged mine. I miscalculated an his sword nicked my side once. I tried to remain calm and focus, none of my attacks were connecting with anything but his sword. He then spoke "Shall we call it a draw. You have done well enough. If we continue you might die and we didn't agree to those terms."   I felt as if proud that it was a draw but disappointed the result showed anything but. "That would be wise on my point. But instead of a draw, I concede to you Dracule Mihawk. "  Backing away I sheath my swords as Perona and Zoro make their way over. I'm breathing alittle hard gazing at the man worthy of his title an smile, "What is the thing of value you would like? I did lose to you. "  "Your full name and the real purpose of your visit although after you tell me that we will discuss things further."  " The name I go by is Lydia Rae Morgan, as for the purpose I should say morgan was my mother last name, before she handed my care over to someone else she told me my fathers and my real last name was mihawk. So after the orphanage I decided  I at least wanted to know or well see the man that  claimed to be my father." Sighing in defeat I  close my eyes and wait for a laugh, hate, or just rejection.  Say it aloud makes me seem crazy, all the training, and adventuring, everything, just to meet one man. "  I nearly begin to quake I just revealed to Mihawk, Perona, and Zoro who I am and my reason for everything. I feel my eyes sting with what would be the first tears I've cried in years. "Lydia Rae Mihawk. my  daughter. The things you must have endure to find me. "  Stepping closer he placed a hand on my head and ruffled my long black hair awkwardly. "You are welcome to join us for dinner after your wounds looked at an when you are feeling up to it. We have much to talk about, my child." Blinking the tears away in shock or confusion. He didn't look like he was mocking her or anything of the sort. in fact when our eyes met he let a small smile grace his face. "I'll see you then" and just like that he was walking towards the castle. Perona began tending to the injury and Zoro muttered something about challenge me when I was better.  Yes indeed things were gonna change for sure. I accomplished one of my goals. After dinner and much discussion, we decided I would train with him and zoro for the span of two years until zoro goes back to his crew. I felt like teasing Zoro would become my new favorite hobby while there. An I would gain a few new goals to accomplish. An I decide what to do next after that.  But I'd always have a room in his house. That was more than good enough for me.  After two years I might just stay there. Or I might cash in that offer the strawhats made to me some time ago to join their crew or I might just go off on my own for a few more adventures. Only time will tell the tale. One thing is for sure, this isn't the ending, just another chapter in my story.

Little continuation of Dia’s adventures. Hired two witches (for reference, they’re supposed to be the ones that show up in the newest WoW expansion) - Rohal the swordswoman and Messa the hammerwoman. The quest I got from my commander was to kill an Armaddon (large, four-legged demons from Diablo 3). Seemed easy enough even if it was quite far away.
Tumblr media
Passed by a town and stopped by their tavern - nothing special to actually note, but the tavern keeper was an Elysian from my good/evil biome revamp, which I thought was neat.
I didn’t take screenshots of the battle with the Armaddon - while brief, it managed to cripple Rohal, who unfortunately dealt it the killing blow. I left her at a nearby hamlet, and completely forgot to report back to my commander - I went further east instead, only stopping at the same town.
Tumblr media
I recruited quite a rad dwarf who was hanging out in the tavern, named Dra. Why was he rad? Well...
Tumblr media
He was apparently from a Gnome civilization, and was equipped with both a pair of goggles and a saw-glove.

This entire stretch between the blue O and my character’s position is a massive good biome - the Musical Plain, a very large swath composed of a shrubland, a grassland and a savanna. Was attacked by the creatures that dwelled within several times - most notably by a Botanic Giantess, a flock of Holy Soarers, and several Frost Cherubs (a variant of Holy Cherubs - putting descriptions of both here for reference)
Tumblr media
After passing by several Krokul and Tauren hamlets, I came across a wilderness lair and decided to investigate - regretted it immediately since it was inhabited by a Nian
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If any of you remember Omen from classic WoW, this megabeast is basically a stand-in for it, merely using the name of its model.
Tumblr media
Messa decided to bail after shooting a shadow bolt at it, whereas Dra stayed behind. While he put up a good fight for quite a while, his neck was eventually broken, and the beast bit off his arm. He suffocated a while after.
Tumblr media
While Dra was still alive and being torn to shreds by the Nian, I noticed the howl pop up - it meant that there was ANOTHER Nian around. I didn’t try to find it and fight it though, considering Dia would have been incredibly exhausted from carving apart this one, and Messa couldn’t be trusted to stay around.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Slashing at it enough with one of my swords knocked it out, thankfully. At that point I switched to my claymore and managed to pierce its heart, causing it to bleed out. I decided to use Dia’s innate necromancy for something and revived the dead Nian as a minion - left Dra alone in respect, though.
I’ll be going away to my family for three weeks, so for now this’ll be kind of an abrupt ending - that said I’ll probably post other DF stuff since I backed up my entire mod folder so I’ll be able to generate a world.

If anyone else wants to give it a go, the link is here - I recommend backing up your vanilla folder though, since this adds stuff to some vanilla files and removes things from others (I’ve removed vanilla humans, kobolds and animal people to avoid some amount of redundancy). It admittedly also includes some personal stuff I haven’t shared elsewhere (i.e the Goretober creatures I did) so yeah, if anyone uses it definitely message me, I’d be interested to hear some stories.

She's clearly drunk, having too many Irish coffees to keep Tashigi as her usual self. In which, she goes and gets her other two swords and waves them around in a particular fashion.
"Hey everyone! Look, I'm Roronoa!". She then proceeds to place Shigure's hilt in her mouth and accidently bites down.
Tumblr media
"Owwwww!!" How on earth does the other swordsperson not break their teeth while doing this? Well, that sobered her up a little.

Headcanon- Tashigi's flower motif- Cherry Blossom
Tumblr media
There's no secret that I associate Tashigi with the flower, as it's a constant on her one official kimono, her one sword Kashu literally means 'flower province' and also her special attack in the video games is called Senbonzakura, which could translate to 'one thousand cherry trees'.
And while, checking out different meanings, I do think the flower represents her well. It symbolizes both beauty and violence. Also can be translated into human life and nobleness, which Tashigi has in spades. Also in Chinese symbolism, cherry blossoms can also mean power and strength in women, showing her mettle as a swordswoman / swordsperson.
Even the cherry blossom emoji that I associate her with also has a meaning. That being spring and new beginnings. It can be associated with a blossoming friendship or the early stages of a romantic relationship. Tashigi's coat can also symbolize a cherry blossom too as it is light pink in color instead of the white all the higher ranking marines tend to wear.
Also falling petals of the cherry blossom in art came to symbolize sacrifice, youthfulness, grace. All things that fit in Tashigi's character when she is looked and thought about in other people's eyes. Cherry Blossoms are also featured to be major events in Wano as well, as the place is based off of Japan. And I've always advocated for Tashigi to have some form of ties to the nation, as her ideals and way of the sword follow many traditions seen in Wano so far.
So in short, while I love seeing the 5-star flowers on her recent shirts and love how the pattern compliments her purple background of said clothing and matches a certain sword maker that came from Wano to the East Blue, I like the idea of Tashigi representing the cherry blossom instead for various reasons.
