⛧ SELFSHIPTOBER 2024 ⛧

HELLO ALL! welcome to another year of selfshiptober. i've noticed this is pretty much the 'official' selfship tober event now, which honestly warms my heart! i love seeing what this wonderful community does with my prompts :)

this year, i'm doing things a little differently. EACH DAY HAS TWO PROMPTS ASSIGNED TO IT. the first set is SHIPPY, while the second set is SPOOKY. you may either COMBINE THE TWO PROMPTS TOGETHER or CHOOSE ONE OF THE PROMPTS. the spooky prompts are a bit on the grittier side and probably won't appeal to most, so if you'd like to only use the first set of prompts and completely ignore the second, be my guest! on the other hand, if you prefer the gritter prompts, you can only use the second set of prompts, you can do that too! if you want an extra challenge, you can create a piece that incorporates both of the day's prompts. you can also change your approach depending on how you feel that day!

there are no hard rules for this. YOU CAN START WORKING ON THIS CHALLENGE EARLY, but i encourage you to wait until october to post anything. YOU CAN ALSO CONTINUING WORKING ON IT AFTER OCTOBER ENDS! you can drag this shit out into december for all i care. just DON'T OVERWORK YOURSELF PLEASE.

I keep thinking about Kuroo, who acts all smooth and smug but turns into a complete sap the second he’s with you. Like, yeah, he’ll lean against the wall with that lazy smirk, flicking his messy hair out of his eyes, acting like he's just casually stopping by. But then he’s pulling you into his lap, trapping you with his long legs and whining dramatically if you try to leave, mumbling something like, “You can’t just walk away when I’m suffering here without you.”

And yeah, he’ll shamelessly pepper your neck with kisses during study sessions because “this is how you learn better,” according to him. So what if you’re in the library and his teasing voice is drawing attention? You’re his, and he’s not missing any chance to remind you of that—especially when you’re all flustered and trying to shush him. You think he’s gonna let you study in peace when you look this cute, pouting and trying to focus? Nah, he’ll pull you closer, whispering, “C’mon, one more kiss, just for luck," like the menace he is.

happy belated valentine’s day <3 gender neutral reader

you find him waiting for you under the fading daylight.

you tap his shoulder, and he turns to face you, looking slightly nervous.

“hey,” you smile at him, and he feels as if he’s looking right at the sun. “what did you need from me?”

he scratches the back of his head, unsure of what to say. “i- uh. i… wanted to give you something.

“for me?” you tilt your head in surprise, and he can’t help but admire just how beautiful you are under the setting sun’s rays.

you’re such a star, he thinks. how did i ever manage to catch a shooting star like you?

he holds out his hand to you. in his hand lies a small bouquet of flowers; the leaves slightly crumpled, petals falling off of one of the blossoms; but beautiful nevertheless.

“i, um… wanted to make up to you for yesterday. i’ve never really had a reason to celebrate valentine’s day, but after meeting you, i… want to make you happy. i’m sorry for not doing anything special for you. i know this isn’t anything fancy, but… i hope that you’ll like these, maybe?”

you look up at him; take the bouquet out of his hands. he waits, wondering if he should have done more. you deserved the world; hell, he would’ve found a way to bring the moon to you if you asked. but what could someone like him do?

and then you laugh, and his hearts feels as if it was about to explode.

“oh, my love. of course,” you place your hand on his cheek; your voice reminds him of the sea, gentle and soothing. “you don’t have to apologize. i don’t need you to give me dinner at a fancy restaurant or a diamond necklace to be happy. you didn’t even have to get me flowers.”

you give him a kiss, and his heart melts at the thought of just how lucky he was to have someone like you.

“all i need for valentine’s, is you.”
