A mini headcannon please for Severide and Caaey dating a British girl?

Kelly/Matt- Polyamorous Relationship Headcannon

YN was the newest detective at PD, Jay's newest partner since he and Hailey started dating. YN moved from the UK to New York originally, but once Voight got word that New York had one of the best detectives he knew he needed her on his team. So he put a transfer offer in and she agreed.

After a tuff case Jay invited YN to join him and the others to go to the bar Mollys or pub as YN would call it. That's where she met Kelly Severide trying to chat up a woman while nursing a beer. When the woman walks away from Kelly that's when YN and Kelly start talking.

It started off as just friendly, YN met everyone at the firehouse and quickly became friends with everybody,but the one probably that YN had was she had gained feelings for not only Kelly but Matt Casey as well. Little did she know at the time both of them also gained feelings for her.

It took a while for them to all reveal their feelings, but when they did YN never felt more confused. She didn't know what to do at first thinking she had to choose, but Matt and Kelly reassured her that she didn't need to choose between either of them, they just wanted to be with her.

It was new for all of them, being in a 3 way relationship so while they were getting used to this they kept their romance a secret. That is until YN let it slip to Jay that she was stressed about what people would think. Jay at first was shocked, but supported his partner and friend.

6 months into their relationship they decided to tell their friends which they all were worried about, but they really didn't need to be. Their friends were supportive of them, although it may get some used to for everyone but YN, Matt and Kelly weren’t treated any differently.

They’re often seen at Mollys having a couple beers, YN sat in the middle of Matt and Kelly. Kelly’s arm is usually round her shoulder while Matts hand is often on her thigh. This is one of the ways that Matt and Kelly let everyone know that she’s taken.

Matt and Kelly are both very protective of YN, but she can be just as protective. Like when a woman was hitting on Kelly at Mollys, YN walked over and sat on Kelly’s lap giving the woman a overly sweet smile. Or when YN had been called on to a job helping the fire department during an active shooting in a burning building. YN would keep Matt behind her at all times with her gun raised.

After they decided it was the right time to move I together they fell into a pattern and certain roles. Kelly is often the one the cook for the three of them while Matt often washes up after dinner and YN will clean down the surfaces. When YN is off she will usually strip the bed and do all of the washing, while when Kelly and Matt are off they will clean the house. This doesn’t mean that every now and then they will creep on to each other’s roles or just help one another.

Being in a relationship with someone who’s British Kelly and Matt had to get used to her sayings. Like the time YN was writing something down in pencil and she makes a mistake. She asks Kelly “can you pass me a rubber”. Of course Kelly was super confused to why YN wanted a condom, but went and found her one anyway. When he gave her the condom YN frowns looking at him “why have you given me a condom? We’re not having sex right now”. “But you asked for a rubber?” he replied also frowning. “Yeah to rub out what I wrote”. “Ohhh an eraser” he would come to the realisation.

Or when YN and Matt has gone shopping and YN asked Matt to pick up an aubergine “a what now?” Matt would ask confused. “Oh god is this another thing with a different name”. “Must be. What’s it look like?”. “It’s the errm, the dick emoji” YN would whisper. “Ahhh eggplant”.

A few years into their relationship they decided to have a baby. Well the plan was shed have a baby with Kelly first then in a years time she would have a baby with Matt. That way they would both have a biological baby, not that they were overly bothered, but since they could they thought why not.

When YN fell pregnant she had certain cravings that neither Matt or Kelly could find since they were specifically British snacks. Crumpets and quavers. Kelly learnt how to make crumpets from scratch while Matt would phone YNs family to ask them to send quavers to them.

YN, Matt and Kelly work well together. It may have not been what any of them thought their lives would look like, but you can’t help who you fall for.

Crumpets are a type of bread with holes that a toasted and often served with butter. I actually like them with no butter and soft cheese.

Quavers are a type of crisp/chip that are cheese flavoured. They are my absolute favourite crisp.

Harper: 

I value how Harper effortlessly nurtures others around her. “Mother Hen Harper” was one of the first consistent tags on this blog for a reason lol. She isn’t overbearing, but she notices things about others and will gently support you from a distance, stepping in when she’s needed, and never expect a thing in return. I don’t think Harper even notices she’s like that, it’s just a seamless part of her. 

If you asked her, she’d tell you she values her self-reliance. It’s a skill she had to learn under fire, losing her entire support system so suddenly, but she’s damn proud of what she’s managed to build for herself despite everything.

Blue:

I adore his curiosity. Roleplaying him is so fun because I get to imagine what it’s like to experience things for the first time--things I otherwise take for granted. Like Blue seeing the sunrise for the first time? Or receiving his first hug? Ahhhhh

Listen here. I hurt myself trying to think about what Blue would like about himself. Because? He doesn’t know. He barely gave himself a name. Eventually though, I think Blue would like the remnants of his caretaker programming, being able to be useful to others would be important to him. It would give him a sense of purpose.

Phoenix:

I love his playful nature, the way he takes everything in stride and is still able to laugh even in the face of a stressful job. He effortlessly cheers his crew up after a tough day just by being himself. 

Phoenix would jokingly tell you the way he absolutely smokes his crew at video games, even without interfacing to cheat. But really, this boy is proud of his work and how well he does his job.

Headcanon: Nix will playfully and casually flirt with just about anyone but the moment someone actually flirts back, he’s a flustered mess.

Do you have any brettsey headcannons that you haven’t shared?

SO MANY OF THEM. Like, so many.

They tell each other they're gonna move slowly in their relationship, but Matt's basically living with Sylvie after about a month. It gets to the point where he's at the loft once a week and Severide's like "look there's no point in you paying rent here anymore you live with Sylvie now". So they have the conversation and are like "So I guess this is a thing?"

There's immediately a betting pool on the engagement. Severide's not allowed enter because he's Matt's best friend, but when they don't get engaged after a few months things cool off on it. Brettsey aren't as fussed about the marriage stuff - they want to be married to each other, but they've both had experiences that make them shy away from marriage so they just want to be themselves for a while.

They're just really, really soft with each other. It's casual touches on the back or shoulders. Nothing that could even be CONSIDERED inappropriate for work - Sylvie refuses to even kiss his cheek in the firehouse while they're on shift - but just the casual "I am here and I love you" touches.

Herrmann is the one member of the firehouse who isn't completely on board with their relationship, because he's always had this hope that maybe, just maybe, Gabby would return and she and Matt would fix things up. Mouch sits him down and tells him to cop on because Gabby's been gone for three years and the two of them deserve happiness. He makes up for it by not charging them their full tab at Molly's, and will never admit he does it to anyone.

Boden's had the disclosure paperwork filled out in his desk drawer for about a year. After Joe's wedding Donna mentioned about how they looked at each other, and Wallace Boden is nothing if not a man who listens to his wife.

When their relationship is revealed (basically the shift after they get together these two can't keep it a secret) Matt gets visits from half the firehouse giving him a shovel talk. It starts with Mouch, and he knows how close Mouch is to Sylvie so just smiles and tells him it's ok. But then Joe (with Capp and Tony standing behind him because those two will never admit that because of Joe's stories they think of Sylvie as a little sister, plus she always brings in baked goods for them) comes along. Then Stella. Then Boden. Violet fixes him with a "don't fuck this up" glare whenever she sees him. And finally Severide comes in and Matt's like "I'm not going to screw this up I've waited for too long!" and Kelly's response is "I was going to tell you dinner is ready...has everyone really done that?"

Sylvie hears of an Ambulance Commander position opening up and decides to go for it, and Matt's there with her every step of the way. She doesn't get it this time - the PIC who does has been at CFD way longer than her - but she gets really good feedback and Matt comforts her, reminding her that she can do anything. (And then when it's up again the next time she does get it and even though it means she'll be leaving 51 they're so excited).

They buy a super run down fixer upper house together that they can renovate how they want. They're near their friends, near the firehouse, but it's a place that will just be for them. Plus they could only afford it because of how run down it is.

Once they get the kitchen and bedroom done they move in, and that's where Matt proposes. They're in their kitchen, Sylvie's baking and Matt's doing dinner, and he realises this is exactly where he wants to be for the rest of his life. He doesn't have a ring, he hadn't even planned it, but he asks Sylvie and she says yes immediately because it's Matt and of course she'll marry him.

They go shopping for the ring the next day, and when she arrives to work as an AC it's immediately noticed but she says nothing. Everyone at 51 can tell Matt's in a really good mood but nobody knows why until the two arrive at Molly's and Stella (because of course it's Stella) spots the ring immediately.

Welp this was longer than I planned BUT I HAVE SO MANY HCS FOR THESE TWO THEY'RE ADORABLE.

Ooooh I see you have given the brain worms permission to ramble about my muses--thank you for the ask, these are great!

- What makes you the most emotional about your muse?

Harper: Honestly? Her relationship with her mother and how it impacts her even now. Harper is consumed with guilt over the argument she had with her mother right before she “died.” Her biggest regret is that they never got to make amends. Now, she’s terrified of leaving anything unsaid. If she has a disagreement with someone, Harper is quick to apologize for fear of history repeating itself. With significant others, she will never miss the chance to say “I love you” before walking out the door. 

Blue: How innocent and gullible he is; my sweet boy is so impressionable, missing so much of his original programming and coding. In deviance, he wants to live but he doesn’t know why. And he’ll believe anyone who gives him that reason, regardless of their intentions. It makes him easy to manipulate and someone with bad intentions could easily lead him down the wrong path. I just wanna swoop in and protect him, I swear.

Phoenix: Even in deviance, Nix views himself as expendable. He’s not reckless and he knows he isn’t indestructible, but that doesn’t stop him from taking calculated risks to protect his crew and civilians. At the end of the day, when the choice is saving himself or someone else, he will always pick the other person. 

- If you could tell your muse one thing, what would you tell them?

Harper: I’d steal a quote from Undertale and tell her, “Despite everything, it’s still you.” I’d smack it on a sticky note and put it on her mirror/desk because miss girl desperately needs the constant reminder to trust herself, that she’s still a person and not just Cyberlife’s fuck-up.

Blue: It’s less of what I want to tell him and more that I would just give him a tight hug and tell him that he’s perfect just the way he is. But if I had to say one thing, I’d tell him “There is more to life than the pain you’ve known.”

Phoenix: “You deserve to be saved too.” 

- What about your muse amuses you?

Harper: She snorts when she laughs and I just think it’s the cutest fucking thing. 

Blue: Sweet boy will ask you a million questions about a million things and sometimes the questions are more poignant that he realizes. He’d be a philosophy professor’s dream, honestly.

Phoenix: This disaster bisexual will casually flirt with any and everyone, but the second someone flirts with him? He’s a flustered mess.

Headcanon: MC500 models are often sent to public schools to teach Fire Safety courses. Phoenix absolutely thrives off of this and the kids love him. It’s one of the few occasions he can be himself in public, as he was programmed to keep kids entertained during these lessons.
