To be fair, sometimes my husband was right, the situation 100% needed more swords.

Sylus is lounging on the couch in the living room when you come home, he’s swiping through the tablet in his hand. (business he says, but you see the screen and catch a glimpse of a book you’d mentioned liking a couple weeks before)

When you enter the room, he’s taking a sip from his whisky. Upon spotting you, he leans back on the couch, moving both his arms up. It was just enough space for you to snake in under them, wrap your arms around his waist and lay against his chest.

He drops his arms down, one still holding the tablet and now the either rubs circles into your skin through your shirt.

“How was work, sweetie?” His voice was rough, clearly the first time he’d spoken since he woke up.

And so you tell him. You babble on and on softly, listening to the sound of his heart through his chest. He hums every now and again, commenting quietly on a particular rough patch of your day you retell.

He’d put the tablet down some time ago, content to listen to you speak. You hadn’t noticed but he’d wrapped an arm around your shoulder, and the other hand had slipped under your shirt. His warm hands resting on the small of your back to keep you close.

After a long while of hearing you rant, you slow down, heaving a heavy sigh before placing your chin against the center of his chest. He can’t help the smile that graces his lips when you look up at him through those pretty eyelashes.

“All done?” He’d ask as he hooks a strand of hair behind your ear, his fingertips lingering there for a moment.

“All done.” You nod cutely.

He leans down and captures your lips against his in a soft, tender kiss. When he pulls away you all but chase his warmth. He chuckles and taps your nose softly, before leaning up and pressing his lips to the crease of your eyebrows.

“No more frowning, you’ll start to look like Luke when he can’t beat Kieran in kitty cards.” He chides.

You snort before nodding and resting your head against his chest again, content to listen to his heartbeat for the rest of the evening.
