❗TW: anxiety - small mention of misogyny, ab*se and gr00ming - ab*se threats - death threats❗ Hi! Firstly, i want to say that this is a pretty negative posts as you can see it in the tags :/. It will contain triggering things antis have said to darklinas (not the ship, but the HUMAN readers who ship it) and might ruin your day. If you're in a good mood, don't read! I don't like spreading this kind of negativity, but today will be an exception. I never thought i'd ever muster the courage to open up like this, but i need to. Not only for my own sake, but also because i know many darklinas might be going/have gone through the same feeling. When i joined the fandom, i knew nothing about the ship wars. I have just read the books, and came out of them as a darklina shipper. A darklina shipper aware of their toxicity. Aware of how such a relationship irl would repulse me and probably scare me. But i also know i am a pretty mature reader, and i enjoy this kind of dynamic in fiction. It's just the way i am. At first, i only saw darklina positive posts. By darklina positive, i do NOT mean romanticizing or idolizing the ship. I mean all the gorgeous gifsets, the beautiful fanarts, the long and detailed character/relationship analysises and the amazing fanfics. I was pleased. It was such an amazing experience. I thought i would finally find peace in a fandom. I was wrong. I was so, so wrong. The first anti darklina post appeared in the darklina tag, ofc. It was cross tagged. It was also a pretty harsh one. Saying how darklinas are insensitive, stupid a**holes for shipping darklina. How they are ab*se, p*dophilia and gr00ming apologists. How they should be educated. Needless to say, this made me feel guilty. But then i would realize taht they are wrong, that i am not the way they say, that i am free to like whatever i want. However the cycle started again. I should have blocked them, but stupid me decided to go to the anti darklina tag instead. I don't really know why. It might have been a subconscious choice, and i hated it. I kept scrolling and reading horrible things. Now that i think about it i feel stupid for having been so self destructive at the time. Then i finally gathered my sh*t together and stopped going to the anti tag. The cross tagged posts were still there tho, and i would see them often: "I can't believe that those who call themselves feminists ship darklina." "Guys, darklinas are probably in an abusive relationship! We should help them and educate them." "These people are mentally ill." "Whoever likes the darkling more than zoya is misogynist." And SO many other bullsh*t. But these were the ones that got me the most i almost ended ip in tears. Later i got to know about the threats they sent to darklinas, as well as see all the triggering things they would say whenever they had a darklina in their way. "Darklina shippers stop breathing now." "I want to beat the hell out of darklinas so they come to their senses." Not to mention their continuous misuse of delicate words like 'gr00ming' or 'p*dophilia'. And when LB joined them, i was so done. What i want to say: this fandom messed me up. I feel like it completely changed me. Most of the time, idgaf about antis and their blabbering. Unfortunately, sometimes i get scared of speaking my opinion. I get scared of commenting on posts because i'm afraid of what antis will respond. Will they sent me death threats? Will they say i am an ab*se apologist? Will they judge me and say i am a toxic person? And if they do, how will i answer? I became anxious. I would stiffen when i see a reply to something i said, and my mind would go wild with the possibilities of what they said, and what i should reply. I think i'm doing a lot better now. Thanks to my darklina friends who supported me, and helped me see who really is in the wrong. They are nice, and amazing people who are so misjudged over something that isn't even real. This was so long, i am sorry. I just needed to explain how i feel about this, because i am sure other darklinas will probably relate.

first creation and most recent creation of 2020: ooo, so i only started giffing about four months ago and the first set i posted was tony+tiny chairs because i found it really cute, hehe. my most recent one would be this clint+natasha parallel scene in cacw/endgame which, ouch. 

one of your favorite creations from 2020: i really like this rhodey + hyping himself up set for no reason other than the fact he’s such a dork. i also liked my the greatest showman set because a) one of my favourite movies and b) dancing!!! so i had a lot of fun giffing those shots<3 

a creation you’re really proud of: probably this tribes of wakanda set which i had a lot fun colouring, and i was pretty happy with how the fonts and the colors turned out! 

a new style you tried this year and a gifset that uses it: i really like the trend of adding lyrics/quotes to characters, and i ended up wanting to do one of those myself - with the extra addition of playing around with different fonts and styles - so i ended up doing this tony set with the lyrics to 'gold’! :D

a creation that took you forever: the same tony set i just mentioned above! there were a lot of keywords in the lyrics to gold that i wanted to bring out, and trying to find the right fonts + adding the color fade effects took me quite some time, hehe 😌

(feel free @ anyone to add on or share your thoughts too ! :,))

HYUNJAE - okay so audio cues... if you listen to the beginning there’s a sound of a bomb going off before the music starts ? and that ties into the dystopian / cyborg aesthetics that jump out at me of course, but what i immediately thought of was their no air perfo ? like we know hyunjae in the no air mv got that shot where he’s laying in the bathtub filled with water but also their kingdom performance with it also had those underwater shots ! so i think it ties into that... i feel like we saw in gen z, he’s a very straightforward person he says things on his mind which can come off as blunt but he thinks it’s better than not saying it ? which is interesting bc i think that speaks to his self- determined personality, he’s much more inclined to do whatever it takes to get something done, which i think falls perfectly in line with the “make your own air” phrase that he gets, if it’s something he needs he makes it himself, in a situational sense methinks u.u 

 JUYEON - JUYEON’S DJSKHDG i’m waiting for dri’s essay but in essence we see the gen z “juyeon is not such a good boy” shot and these text bubbles that pop up that say “sexy” “you so hot” “such a bad boy” and tbh i like this ‘concept’ ? for him better than his gen z one ? it’s not bc of the concept itself but i like the idea that he can “make your own character” as in he has the capability and power to be whoever he wants to ! you see him throwing white paint at the gen z canvas and i think ?! that’s symbolic of like a fresh canvas ! of remaking himself to whatever he wants bc the canvas is now blank again thanks to the white paint and flowers usually indicate spring ? so renewal and stuff like that ! i really like his, it’s also fun word play on “character” which has been juyeon’s intro in tbz (bc his name sounds like main character in korean) but yea :o ! i really love his the idea he can just repaint / paint over a literal image of him gives it the possibility of becoming smth new and that’s so so cool

CHANGMIN - SCREEEEECH okie um oh boy um *windows shutting down noises* this was so so so very different from his gen z stuff but i actually think BOTH are equally perfect for him ? the way that he set up the sparklers and neon lights on this very obviously trashy and kind of rundown rooftop with the cityline behind him is so ?!?!? LITERALLY making his own stage as his tagline goes, sort of like how the physical stage itself does not matter but rather it’s changmin himself that makes the stage special ! i talked about this in gabi’s set that i rbed ;-;/ but changmin puts a lot A LOT of stake in his position as a dancer it means almost everything to him as a form of expression from what i can see ? so he’s always trying his best to put forward the best performance possible and seeing this segment makes me feel like he’s doing just that ! pouring himself into it to make his stage pls i care him 

HAKNYEON - god i’m a jusadan but just u.u rest in peace me, i’ll ... T_T be kind of honest this one confuses me a little ? i have assumptions and i feel like i know ... quite a bit about haknyeon (LMAO) my best guess is it has smth to do with self assurance ...? the way he’s framed and the fact that he’s sitting on a bed in the middle of a church surrounded by candles gives me christ figure symbolism (where my ap english takers at :/) and the light that perfectly frames him in a halo gives me angel vibes too, but the tagline of “make your own romance” paired with him kissing his reflection makes me think it’s about self love ;;;; from what i can tell haknyeon has always been someone who really likes feeling validated and praised for the stuff he does well, which he does for himself a lot of the times too ! but sometimes i think the self assurances he compliments himself with is more for reassuring himself rather than bragging (which i think people misinterpret) so it’s more about becoming the person he wants to fully love and being happie with himself which *tears* i might be reading too much into who knows i just love him ok ... U.U 

KEBINNN - i know !!! dri mentioned this in my gifset tags but ! kev on kpop daebak (? was it) or smth mentioned how he strives to keep a childlike wonderment for the world around him, which is a reason why i think he loves drawing and sound / music production, he talked in a fancafe post once about an artist who turned mediocre everyday objects into art and he said he really loves that sense of wonderment so peter pan who “never grows up” is actually perfect for his worldview ahhhh T^T also kev really likes disney lmao, the way he’s doing this outside in this “neverland” garden on a balcony which is a part of this very typical apartment backed by a typical city bg also i believe ties into this turning a mediocre everyday thing into smth wonderful through his sense of childlike wonderment and his tagline of “make your own fantasy” (i also care him a lot this concept >>>>>>) and keeps to his referencing movie plotlines like he did in gen z jddkfj

SUNWOO - i also mentioned this in my tags on sunu’s set but this gives me 100 degrees vibes which i still to this day think is one of the most “sunwoo” vibe things ever, it’s a lot of him having fun and doing his own thing, and mixes both more mature and youthful aspects together in a way that i’d only ever describe as sunwoo vibes LMAO like the roller skating around and all the soap bubbles ! cute and youthful ! the crop top and celine wasitband (don’t laugh at me we all noticed) more mature and a callback to his gen z look methinks U.u, think sunwoo has always been a more go-with-the-flow or do whatever he feels like doing sort of person and so “make your own vibe” fits well with him in that sense to me 

SANGYEON - .... *silence* *more windows shutting down noises* *jess.exe has stopped working* OKAY i feel like ! sangyeon’s is also more self explanatory :p i love the juxtaposition of boxing AND the arcade type fighter games ?? like both require very different sets of skills i feel like one is more physical the other is more mental ? but both require adapting to changes whether in the game or the boxing ring which as leader sangyeon would know a lot about, esp being flexible and quick to respond to different situations, and the “make your own glory” i feel is maybe more on the nose, but tbz are this man’s pride and joy you can see it literally anywhere and for him, as leader, to have made it this far with tbz, winning rtk and building their popularity through their hard work and efforts really is building his own glory and i just HHHHHHHHHH

YES EYYSFDHSHF CHANHEE YES - i said it in the tags of my srb before deleting it so i’ll just repeat it here but CHOI CHANHEE !!!!! this detail i didn’t quite process first watch was the continuous flashing of lights in all his scenes, like ... from the shots and the set it looks REALLY empty ?? but the flashing seems to indicate cameras and photos being taken of him despite there being no people we can really see in any of the shots ? WHICH IS SO COOL i think the implication is like “all eyes on him” type which SO TRU i love that idea, like i said the walking past the wedding dresses ? v heavily implies fashion designer which i think you mentioned mar :o ! and i see it in the sense of his tagline “make your own stereotype” bc white wedding dresses are the very traditional / typical choice and obviously feminine in stereotypes, whereas chanhee is wearing a SUIT which is all black in a very clean b/w set with no color which i feel is very stereotypically MASCULINE and the glasses too, it’s such an interesting contrast of his “stereotypically feminine” features (in my view) with very masculine symbols, like glasses we usually associate with more soft hearted / meek stereotypes ? but the geometric shape of the windows and again his suit seems to indicate the very opposite ? it’s a mixing of stereotypes which i think is the point, by putting those together he quite literally makes his own stereotype and puts on the crown while the cameras continue flashing while pointed at him AHHHHHHHHHHHHH

YOUNGHOON - okie might have less to say about this one :o i feel like both hak’s and younghoon’s i don’t see the connections quite as readily but ! i think it’s interesting that his tagline is “make your own classic” but then in the scenes itself he has a flip phone ??? with an antenna (okay boomer /j JDHFKFG JK PLS) and a teddy bear while in PERIOD stylized clothing and setting where those two things are more modern / contemporary in origin (but also not modern enough bc ,,, it’s a flip phone LOL) like 90s kid vibes ? you know but as an emperor in the joseon era haha :p while eating shrimp chips and reading a (comic ?) book, like idk too much of what it means but it’s a cool dichotomy LOL, think it might also tie into actor ! hoon bc it’s make your own classic and i think acting has become a very important aspect to him :o after seeing what he’s capable of in love revolution and his atbz video so it’s interesting u.u (need help w/ this one)

JACOB - think my explanation in han’s set’s tags didn’t really make sense so lemme ... reexplain LOL,,, so ! similar to his gen z video ? like he’s talked about how difficult it is to open up about his own feelings etc. and he said it’s less bc he realizes he needs to but rather just to make other people feel more comfortable when it comes to understanding him, and like the whole breaking the mirror with his reflection in the wanna be angry jacob, it’s about freeing himself to the point he can express the emotions he wants to ! in gen z it was about being able to be angry when he felt that way instead of being tied by his image of being just nice ? and in the video with his pilot uniform not only does he control the ride but he also rides on it himself ! quite literally making his own freedom (symbolically), a sort of realizing he can free himself ? from what’s been tying him down and i think the really big smile he has while riding it just comes to show how he wants to feel :,))) (jacob bae i care you) 

ERIC - last one :p AHHH this is one of my favs too, the quite literal “make your own pride” I LOVE IT ! sooo i think the biggest takeaway i got was that of course in this video his “pride” is symbolized by the hot pink car (that he’s going to pick up his christmassy date in of course u.u if he has a license which he does n- his driver’s license in this was literally his aaa / boy version of reveal photo which in no dmv anywhere would a license picture be allowed to look that good-) and LITERALLY when he finished and takes it for a joy ride while sitting on the roof he’s STILL covered in the dirt and grime stains ! from working on it ! which i think is so symbolic ! it’s my favorite detail actually, he literally put sweat into this car which is his pride and now that he’s finally riding around in it, it feels accomplishing ! his pride ! love that, also when he’s grabbing a stub from that flyer i noticed he chose “youth” over the others (which was like .... ca$h, beauty, ice cream, hamburger...) which i think also just indicates that despite all this hard work he put in he still cherishes his youth and still lets that be a huge part of who he is (i mean pink car so of course) so idk i think it’s very neat go bestie mwah

2020 content creator review

i was tagged by @vishcount as usual, thank you  💕  i answered the questions below the cut, and everyone that is tagged is there too, if you just wanna skip my ramblings and go straight down there.  (also gosh i hope all the links work rip)

1. first creation and most recent creation of 2020: 

this lan wangji oneshot, apparently. i can’t remember when i actually wrote it, but my ao3 tells me i posted it in january 2020. i remember i just wanted to explore lwj’s time of mourning and dive into his mind of that time, even if it made me eternally sad?

my most recent 2020 creation that is public, is the second chapter to this casmund/edmund character study fic i started writing in 2016. i did not expect to return to that but rewatching the narnia movies did that to me. i guess it’s one of those ever-returning fandoms

2. one of your favorite creations from 2020: 

my niemo (nie huaisang/mo xuanyu) fic, no question. diving into this, i fully knew that this pairing probably has a tiny audience and honestly, i did not expect to churn out 30k for them. god. am still suffering because why the fuck did i do that to myself (and everyone reading). thank you vishie for standing by me all the time.

3. a new style you tried this year and a gifset edit that uses it: 

my historical taegi AU set in silla korea - i don’t think it’s actually a new style writing-wise, but it was an entirely different process of creating. i did a week of only research, diving into amounts of academic texts and sources to figure out my frame and setting. it was so much fun and in the end, with everything i learned, it felt like the fic was only just the ‘by-product’ of my research. though i must say, writing the story itself was challenging in a very different way, by that i mean that the characters made me furious and yet i had to write it like that cause i like to suffer :) 

as for gifset, am not sure? i can’t think of any so i am just linking the daechwita mv cause it’s iconic. i guess this mv is more joseon inspired, while my setting was silla somewhere between the end of 7th and beginning of 8th century; but it was the final straw to finally make me write that historical taegi au i always wanted to write with hwarang tae. also this mv inspired me to have yoongi as a tyrannical king cause why not amirite?

4. a creation to be proud of: 

my wei wuxian oneshot during burial mounds; i had a lot of fun writing him and projecting all my nightmares onto him. i went in without a plan and ended up with something i am actually quite proud of? it gave me so much space and room to just...pour out my words and not worry too much about anything else. 

5. a creation that took forever: 

my post-canon wangxian adventure or qinghe chaos, as i lovingly call it. i think i started writing it in november 2019? not entirely sure about that, i only know it took ages. i wanted to create a whole new political environment, as it takes place somewhere around 70 years after canon (they wanna be immortal, shut up) and it was fun thinking of new challenges and new obstacles that face the new generation of cultivators. unfortunately i did not have the capacity to write a full blown political conflict. that’s why i never really incorporated all my thoughts into the story itself, but hey, if anyone has questions i have notes (and vishie, once again, is the most blessed person to plot with me, ily)

6. your creation from 2020 that received the most notes: 

am gonna measure this by kudos on ao3 in that case, which would be the aforementioned lwj oneshot Cold Moon, Long Nights Moon. I feel incredibly fond of it and i’m really happy that people liked it. it feels special somehow and i just want to thank everyone who read that and liked it.

7. a creation you think deserved more notes: 

oh i wrote many fics that year for smaller fandoms, which makes me grateful for every single feedback i received. i think i had hoped my previously mentioned historical AU would receive more, but it’s okay because i still loved it. 

another one is this princess sook myung/ah roh fic that i wrote for my ‘make hwarang gay again’ series. i finally finished this show and it furstrated me so much - the gay potential that went to waste, the horrendous writing for female characters. i liked the chemistry between ah roh and the princess, and yes i get it, it’s a rare pair and this fandom is kinda dead, but. the girls deserve their shine and love (though still, i am grateful for every single kudos i receive and i am still proud of it)

8. a new fandom you joined and a creation you made for it: 

i joined many new fandoms this year for which i wrote, but i want to mention my shang xirui character study for winter begonia, because it was very interesting to explore that? and i had fun too, it was one of the first things i properly wrote after my hiatus, so i felt quite proud. also once again, this fandom has way too little content and the show is underrated. 

9. a creation you made that breaks your heart: 

i wanna mention two here. first is this wen ning & song lan oneshot that was a pure joy and also very sad to write. i just love these two so much, and i love them together even more. i have many thoughts how much comfort they could give each other and believe me, i have many more that i want to explore in the future. 

the second one is the mu nihuang & xiao jingyan oneshot i wrote for the nirvana in fire gift exchange 2020. it broke my heart, but at the same time it felt like something was healing too? it hurt at the pain both characters go through, but i also felt fond that maybe, they were not alone.

10. a ‘simple’ creation that you really love: 

hmm there are a few, i mostly want to mention my fei liu character study? it has no plot or anything, it is just an exploration of his mind and thoughts, which was an absolute joy to write and somehow so easy. 

i also quite like the yyy series i started - maybe i can write more for these two because they somehow give me the feels.

11. a favorite creation created by someone else: 

alright here we go folks:

first i want to mention my dearest @vishcount because newsflash!!! i am the biggest fan. of course i need to mention your wondeful, stunning, breathtaking masterpiece that is your xicheng novel (and yes it is a novel, i say so). it is still ongoing and you started it in 2019, but i need to mention it here because it truly is something that is lifechanging. i feel so blessed that i get the front seats and vip access to all the updates, to all your thoughts and ideas. you go through a lot with it and i am never not proud of you ❤️ another one i want to mention is this wei wuxian & mo xuanyu oneshot you wrote for me because i am still crying about it. i have no words.  honourable mentions: your easter islanders (lan wangji and jiang cheng) and this xicheng soulmate au 

another creator i want to mention is @the-cloud-whisperer and their nirvana in fire fic Heroic Woman（烈婦） , which is absolutely wonderful.  i found you through your ATLA fics (which i adore) and saw you posting about nirvana in fire and this year, finally, i watched the show and was blown away. i love your other NIF fics too, but this one feels very special because i always thought li yang’s character was so incredibly fascinating. thank you for writing this 💕

1) but okay, let's finally start and talk about this set from the fallon perf because holy hell, how did you color this and sharpen it so well? it's crisp and smooth!! i tried to color this performance and was like "yeah no, this is not working out." so when i saw your gifs i dubbed you a straight-up magician. goodbye! if people realized how difficult that performance was to work with..

2) LOL i wanna talk about this set of jimin because not only is it colored and smoothed to perfection but the caption made me actually laugh out loud when it crossed my dash the first time sdkljfslkd. talented and funny? how is this fair?

3) sigh... all of your gifs are perfect. all of them. it's actually so hard to choose, but i'm going to go with this one of the maknae line because damn! the original composition of that is.. not easy to work with. i simply adore this coloring to the moon and beyond. it's actually like, aesthetically delicious, if that makes sense LOL

4) UMM my seokjin bias may be showing but umm, these gifs are actually SUPER GOOD. like the way you colored them makes it look infinitely better than the originals and you bring out the definition of both his light hair and his white shirt (which is hard to do!!) ugh, i really do love when you make seokjinnie gifs. my heart :')))

5) lastly, i wanna talk about one of my absolute fave gifsets of mr. jung hoseok. everything about this set of our sunshine just... *clenches fist* brings out his warmth and personality incredibly well and i'm literally just staring at them loop. even if they came out more yellow-toned, that fits!!<3 don't worry about that at all, love. they are perfect.

I feel like this one is pretty self-explanatory. As this is my blog, I can post whatever I want on here -- whether that be fics, gifsets, shitposts, etc.

I have a personal blog from years ago that I've all but abandoned and then 2 sideblogs to this blog that are completely empty. So I guess I technically have sideblogs, but I currently don't use them for anything lmao (and I'd like to keep them private for the time being if that's ok).

3. How long have you been on Tumblr?

I think I created my first blog around June 2015 and then this one was in June 2020.

4. Do you have a queue tag?

I do not. It's a guessing game for y'all 😂

5. Why did you start your blog in the first place?

Right at the beginning of 2020, I got really into reading Bucky (and then Steve) fanfiction so much so that I started coming up with story ideas of my own. I'd never even thought of writing fanfiction before (let alone actually taking the plunge and doing it), but then literally on a whim one day I went "Fuck it. I'll try it." and so wrote my first fic.

Not a week later, I saw @/jtargaryen18 hosting a writing challenge for Chris Evans/his characters and (again on a total whim) went "Fuck it! Maybe someone else would like to read this shit." and so made this blog to post my fic. And then it just went from there.

So it's a little bit chaotic, but what can I say ajjskdl

I actually found my header first and in wanting to keep with the semi-religious theme, decided to go with this Virgin Mary bust (which I edited myself and I'm low-key kinda proud of it dhjakdlf).

I was feeling moody and artsy and thought "You know what has great aesthetics? Religious iconography" 🤣🤣🤣

2. the adore you gifset. god knows this mv is difficult as hell to color and oh my god... somehow i managed to make it look bearable and i’m quite proud of it

3. the posters for the singles in walls and fine line: honestly, louis’ is quite simple because the inspo i had at the beginning had that vibe but i still love it (here it is). in harry’s i managed to slip the fonts he used in each single, some are the same but i think it added some flavour to it, my favorites are lights up and the watermelon sugar one. (here it is)

4. louis in the 1d mvs of each era but in 4k quality: i mean.... what else do you want me to say???? the quality is neattt, i quite liked some of the coloring and he looks goooooooooood!

5. harry’s cat and autumn inspired gifset: i literally saw that cat gifset, hunted the video down and had to this... i simply see no difference. the coloring came out so nice and i absolute adore it!

Ben Solo and his blue butterfly  I am so proud of this edit! It’s inspired by the Star Wars Rollout episode. It’s basically a live-action Ben Solo and his blue butterfly during his fight with the Knights on Exegol. I edited the clip on Premiere Pro first before making the gifs and adjusting the colors on Photoshop.

Gif set inspired by Work Song by Hozier I actually cried while making this edit. When I saw the scene wherein Ben was crawling to Rey, I was like, “Oh boy, Work Song is definitely the song for this”. I love how the colors turned out in the end, considering that playing with the settings took me about two hours or so lmao.

Enemies to Lovers  Peak Reylo. If anyone asks me to describe their relationship in one edit, this is probably it. I love how TLJ showed the progression of their relationship from enemies to finally understanding each other. I like how TROS finally made them kiss and smile at each other. And then killed Ben, but let’s move on from that.

The Skywalkers  I WILL NEVER FORGIVE JJERRIO FOR THIS. STAR WARS IS A SPACE FAIRYTALE BUT OF COURSE THEY HAD TO FORCE ME TO SAY GOODBYE TO ALL OF THE SKYWALKERS. I WAS PLANNING TO MAKE A HAPPILY EVER AFTER GIFSET, BUT GUESS WHAT. HERE’S WHAT YOU GET. THE SKYWALKERS DYING. YOU’RE WELCOME.

Parallel between ROTJ Luke and TLJ Luke This wasn’t a super popular gifset, but I absolutely loved this parallel. It really shows how Luke is still human who can be overwhelmed with anger, but still have compassion and love for his father and his nephew.
